“Memoria polaroid” – un blog alla radio S23E26
“I might find my mind’s on nothing / I can wait another day” ammettono pigramente gli Homework nella canzone che apre la scaletta di questa sera. In effetti, a volte anche questo programma è così in ritardo che potrebbe andare in onda il giorno successivo. Se anche voi avete la mente concentrata sul nulla, ecco qui un’appropriata oretta di novità indiepop e indie rock, senza tralasciare gli…

Tony Jay (Michael Ramos and band who are based in San Francisco) have come a long way. I remember posting about him back in 2018. Perseverance and a relentless work ethic combined with innate talent have brought Ramos (and Tony Jay) the attention they deserve. "Perfect Worlds" is set to be released by Bay Area juggernaut Slumberland Records.
Ramos is also in Cindy and Flowertown (Karina Gill does offer her vocal talents), and those sounds are reflected on "Perfect Worlds" - they only song available here. The reverb soaked song also makes one think of The Reds, The Pinks, and Purples. I'm wondering if Tony Jay will continue to show influences by Big Star and Teenage Fanclub.
By the way, I'm not saying Tony Ramos sounds like Laurie Shaw. But their trajectories are similar. Shaw has been laboring away in relative obscurity. I wonder if he'll ever get his Tony Jay moment.

I see there are still some Asagao fans in the wild!! Hello there, I am I guess what you can consider an early fan of the game as I discovered it a while before it was released (when it was still a kickstarter) and was around for the peak of the fandom. I remember a lot from those days lol. Glad to see some people are still out there!!!
I was also a big name which is funny looking back on
I also have the infamous Hidden Block jersey lmao

“polaroid – un blog alla radio” – S21E38
“I feel like I am almost done” cantano, un po’ malinconici ma anche un po’ sorridenti e fiduciosi i nostri cari Baseball Gregg nel loro nuovo singolo. La stessa cosa si potrebbe dire di questo podcast, giunto alla penultima puntata di questa lunga, complicata ma (speriamo) divertente stagione. E quindi ecco a voi un’altra oretta di novità indiepop e indie rock, ovviamente accompagnate dagli…

New Brooms & Pantries!!
More 21st Century Post-Punk for Your House
Wub-Fur presents another eclectic mix of new post-punk rock music that you should listen to. 19 tracks featuring selections by Iguana Death Cult, Egyptian Blue, Mannequin Pussy, Yard Act, Pylon Reenactment Society, Uranium Club, Hot Garbage, and a dozen more bands who know what “a new broom sweeps clean” means.
Cover Art by the Photoshop AI (we asked it for "Abstract album cover art for a compilation album of 21st century post-punk rock music"). Apologies to Ian Dury and the Blockheads, whose classic 1977 first album is the inspiration for the title of this mix.

10/24/22.
I love that the San Francisco sound has taken off. Between Glenn Donaldson (The Reds, Pinks and Purples), Tony Jay (Flowertown) and Cindy, there is a definite vibe to the City sound.
Gold Dust have been mining (forgive the too-obvious pun) in a similar time frame. I've got to imagine that Stephen Pierce (the person behind the band) were probably immersed in bands like The Clientele and Galaxie 500.
I don't really care who owned the sound first. It's great, and some of the geographical differences do help create a wider spread of the reverb soaked/slow-jangle approach of the sound.
Gold Dust (Easthampton, Massachusetts) releases appear to be self-released.
