Mutant Year Zero: Zone Wars!
A new miniatures skirmish game just landed from Free League Publishing called Mutant Year Zero: Zone Wars. I think it's worth checking out. It looks to have solid rules, compact design, easy setup and relatively inexpensive compared to other skirmish game
A new skirmish style war game came to stores this week. Enter the Zone and lead the mutants, animals and robots of the Zone as they struggle to turn the Rot-infested wasteland into a new dawn land. Get ready to fight others to scavenge artifacts from the Ancients but be on your guard for there is a new shadowy enemy that could be the end of it all

We're back and talking about coin of the realm again. Is gold as valuable if there are more gold coins than silver or copper in the hands of... everyone? How much does a chicken cost when you're desperate for eggs?

Brief article about building fantasy towns. Our current view is distorted by modern fantasy tabletop roleplaying games.

The wondrousness of the Inns & Taverns of Myrr. I aspire to one day be able to add this level of detail to my own setting. Please show @CawoodPublishing some love if you get a chance.

MÖRK BORG Review.
MÖRK BORG is a great game for short campaigns and One-Shots or limited runs.I think it’s slightly meatier than Blades in the Dark, but the game concepts are somewhat similar. You get the setting of MÖRK BORG along with the rules and it’s pretty dark.
A post-apocalyptic game from Free League Publishing written by Pelle Nilsson MÖRK BORG has only been around for a few years, but it has gotten a lot of attention, variants, and third party expansions. For a small indie game, it’s done remarkably well. The system is pretty simple. Unfortunately for characters, life in MÖRK BORG seems nasty, brutish, and terribly short. MÖRK BORG is a great game

1d12 Mundane Trail Encounters.
1d12 things that can happen on the trail between here and there. No magic involved.
Here’s a new d12 Table just for fun. When the group finds themselves wandering down the trail, on their way to their next adventure, sometimes things don’t always go quite as planned. This is a trail encounter for a temperate forested area. Usable with Dragonbane RPG.Mundane Encounters: Venomous Asp: A random member of the party steps too close to a snake on the edge of the trail. The group

#RPGaDay2024, August 14th.
Background and personality go a long way in terms of making a compelling character. Sometimes it's important to go beyond just what is printed statistically on the sheet. Other times, a character's role can make them just as compelling.
Compelling Characters: Dragonbane RPG. Now we’re truly into the realm of any RolePlaying Game. I know of games where my character’s statistics easily fit on a hand-written index card, but my character’s backstory and personal details fill about three typed pages. Character is what you make of it. As a Game Master of many, many years, having compelling Non Player Characters is usually high on my

I'm feeling quite inspired to write my own accessory today. I guess that's what prompts are for. Why wait around for another writer to create an accessory if I can do it myself?
Accessory you’d (I’d) like to see: Dragonbane Monsters and Magic (working title.) If I were to create an accessory for Dragonbane, I think there are three things I would like to see in it. First, we can’t go wrong with more monsters. Second, we can always use more spells and possibly new caster Professions. Last, there really aren’t enough magic items in the Core rules. My preferred approach to

Talking more about the Dragonbane Bestiary. Every fantasy game deserves a good monster book or two, three, maybe more.
An accessory you (I) appreciate: Dragonbane Bestiary. Because
dragons! I did write a four part review of the Dragonbane Bestiary. The first part can be found here. I enjoy this English version of Monsterboken. I think Dragonbane needs even more monsters, but the Bestiary is a good start. Free League Publishing doesn’t pay me to talk about their stuff, but they were kind enough to donate a

Dragonbane (mm coffee...) from Free League Publishing is so easy to jump into. It's a sheer pleasure to run straight out of the box. Part of #RPGaDay2024.
RPG that is easy to use: Dragonbane. Welcome to my unofficial Jeff’s Drinking Game. Feel free to take a sip of your favorite beverage every time I mention “Dragonbane” or any other Free League title this month. I am 100% smitten with this game. I’ve written quite a long review of the game starting here. You can get into Dragonbane (slurp. Mm coffee.) using the FREE Quickstart Rules available on

#RPGaDay2024: August 4th.
The art in many of the Free League Publishing games is mind blowing. Tales From the Loop is just one example. It's a game based on the art of Simon StÄlenhag. Art sells games and I'm definitely sold on this one.
RPG with great art: Tales From the Loop/Things From the Flood by Free League Publishing. From Things From the Flood. Inspired by and featuring the art of Simon StĂ„lenhag. I’m constantly fascinated by the art for these games. Tales From the Loop didn’t really get my attention as a game until recently. This art is so disjointed, almost as if it belongs in a different game altogether. They had

I'm gonzo for Dragonbane. I love this game so much. I've having a blast with it solo. I love the setting. I love the gameplay. We're here to have fun. Play the game. Enjoy the game! Part of #RPGaDay2024.
Most recently played. Dragonbane solo play. I find that it helps me come up with adventures and maybe write a little fiction. Plus it’s a lot of fun. It’s Dragonbane, so it’s fun to begin with. Have I mentioned lately that Dragonbane comes with a Solo Play Adventure right in the boxed core set? I wish more games did this because it give players a chance to try the game right out of the box on

Dragonbane Bestiary Review Part 4.
We saved the best entries for last. So much awesome in these last three sections. I highly recommend taking a look even if you don't run Dragonbane.
Undead, Dragons, and Demons. Oh my. We’ve come to my favorite part of the Dragonbane Bestiary. I promise not to gush over every single entry this time, but we’re in three (actually four if you count Constructs) of my favorite monster categories. The last three categories are probably where this book shines brightest. Disclaimer: This is not a paid review. I bought this book with money I

Boxed Sets in TTRPGs.
I just want to point out that Europe just seems to do things better when it comes to boxed games with quality components. Yay Sweden!
One of the things that impressed me the most about Dragonbane is the boxed set. I remember many years ago I approached several different game companies and asked why they weren’t making boxed set TTRPG games. We had just come off of an era of five or six of the best boxed sets in TTRPG history and suddenly everyone in the USA TTRPG industry stopped making boxed sets and switched to hardcover or
