A new miniatures skirmish game just landed from Free League Publishing called Mutant Year Zero: Zone Wars. I think it's worth checking out. It looks to have solid rules, compact design, easy setup and relatively inexpensive compared to other skirmish game

Wip Whenever

So many of you lovelies tag me I wanted to wait until today to make sure I got everyone! This week it was @curiousartemis​, @kunstpause​, @elveny​, @cartadwarfwithaheartofgold​, and @musetta3​ who tagged me! I’ve got a couple things to share, so it’s all under the cut.

First up is a snip from The Wrong Warden that I’m currently working on. I had some family stuff come up last month that messed up my posting schedule, but I’m back at it today. Also, Warden just passed 3100 hits! I can’t believe my plucky little courtesan has captured the attention of so many, thank you to all my readers! 

Personally, his nightmares had gotten more frequent the closer they came to the horde; coupled with the growing sense of connection between himself and the hive mind, it left him feeling vulnerable. And monstrous; the hunger for...something constantly eats at him in the quiet parts of his mind. He doesn’t understand it, but he definitely feels a pull toward the horde and whatever atrocities they inflict on the world.

How bad was it for her down there? He wonders, watching Hera. I know she was hiding something from us, and it wasn’t just her magic. That, too, had been affected in the Roads; when Ares had been hurt her magic had spiraled out of control. She hadn’t talked about it, but he’d seen a growing weight pressing on her the whole time. Did the Deep Roads affect her more than anyone else, because she’s dhampir? There were times she seemed...comfortable in the dark, he thinks, frowning. Is the archdemon getting to her? Could she be convinced to change sides, being what she is?

Idiot, he scolds himself. She’d never do that. She’s a Grey Warden; and from what she’s told me of Ravenloft she knows what it is to fight for home.

“Alistair, are you all right?” Hera asks, sitting back on her heels and smiling at him across the fire. “You’ve been staring at me for a solid minute.”

Cheeks burning, he forces a laugh. “What can I say? You’re so pretty in the firelight.”

Also in the WIP category is my niece’s prom dress. She called me up in Decemeber and asked if I would make her dress for her last high school formal, and all she asked for was that it be red and have “pockets big enough for breadsticks.” I’ve picked some gorgeous sequin lace to wrap around the bodice (the angled/pleated bits on the front and the shoulder drapes) and the rest will be red satin. This is the first mockup for her to try on, and please ignore my junky shelves behind Bessie Body:

Isn’t it going to be gorgeous? I’m so excited for her to try it on. All that’s left of the mockup is a zip and some boning (that will be taped in).

As for my crochet WIPS- one of them is a secret, but I’m almost finished with it so it’ll be shipped off and shared soon. The other is a baby blanket I’m working on for my best friend’s baby due in April. I’ve had to start it over 3 or 4 times but I finally got the hang of the stitch and I love the color.

And that is all, my dears! No embroidery wips for the moment, but I do still have my giant DA Heart cross stitch that I’ve got to finish eventually, and another project ready to go when I have time. Probably after the green blanket is finished.

Why I’m More Excited for Smaller Titles.

Here's the list of D&D killers that may be just a quick, rather expensive flash in the pan. Will we still be talking about any of these games in 2025 or beyond?

Dungeon Coach’s DC20 RPG breaks $1 Million  on Kickstarter!

Celebrating a big win for DC20 RPG. Funded in ONE minute on Kickstarter!

Just a quick note of congratulations for the Dungeon Coach. As of this writing the project has reached $1.15 Million. It was funded in one minute. There’s already been a lot of hype about this book, so I won’t say much more. The game is currently being promoted on several YouTube channels. Congratulations, Dungeon Coach!

Zine! I Have Finally Figured It Out!

Tinkering around with my BRP Design Challenge entries.

I think I know what direction to take my BRP Design Challenge entry now. Taking this thing down to an A5 sized zine is going to help on so many levels. Plus it will buy me some much needed time to finish the original and knock out the second entry. Daggerheart First Impressions

Taking a brief look at Daggerheart Playtest document from Darrington Press. This game needs some refinement, but it looks great on paper so far. I definitely see it selling to the Critical Role audience.

Just say “No” to Gatekeeping In Gaming.

How many ways can I say, "Don't be a jerk?" Yes, EVERYONE is welcome in the TTRPG hobby and Miniatures Wargaming spaces. However, disruptions are not welcome. I hope to shed some light on the gatekeeping phenomenon.

There is this absurd notion that it’s okay to keep people away from our hobbies. I’ve been seeing more posts online again about. “This is why we should keep people away from [whatever] game.” Usually it’s Dungeons & Dragons or Warhammer 40K that conservatives seems to be trying to drive the “woke” crowd away from.The prevailing theory to counter this argument is that “{Game} is for Everyone.”…

Hasbro Takes a Dump at the End of 2023 Pt 2.

I'm continuing my discussion of theories relating to the 1,100 layoffs at Hasbro/Wizards of the Coast. Friday was fairly quiet, but the pain is still being felt everywhere. More to come.

Editorial: Hasbro Takes a Big Dump Before Christmas.

I'm on a rant and I will still be on this rant for a day or two. Wizards of the Coast/Hasbro sacked 1,100 workers and likely more to come. It's all being done in the name of the bottom dollar, I think. Despicable, purely and utterly despicable. Do better.

Fabula Ultima TTJRPG Review.

#IndieTTRPGMonth is in its final days. This game might be starting small, but I'm guessing it's going to grow rapidly over the next few months. Fabula Ultima features gorgeous art, slick mechanics, lots of advice for GMs, and a great flow.

An article regarding CW Chanter and his video bashing on Shadowdark and my friends at the Arcane Library. Not cool. The TTRPG community is a place for kindness and supporting one another. The only blue space chicken here is in someone's Starfinder game.
