The new ep of Futurama "the one amigo" was pretty fun! A better start to the season compared to what "the impossible stream" did last year imo. Snappy and witty jokes and a solid bender plot with him going off to discover his ancestral roots and reconnect with his original self. Overall I'd give it a nice 7 1/2.

My only two complaints are that this ep didn't really do anything exceptional or unexpected. it was pretty straightforward and if you'd seen some promotional material and clips you could have already pieced together the majority of it. My other complaint lays in the NFT stuff running for too long over the course of the episode without really developing further. I'm thinking that comparing it to classic Futurama episodes like "300 big boys" and "I dated a robot" is a good example of what I mean. Those two took topical stuff to build off their premises, but they stood the test of time by making it fit the Futurama universe more fluidly and building characters dynamics around it. compared to that, the NFTs stuff already feels outdated and meaningless, and it just weighs the episode down,just like the bitcoin episode did. This episode painfully felt like it was written last year/a year and a half ago, when it was probably written. nothing against that, that's how TV writing for this show has always worked, but instead of building a more timeless approach to their topical commentaries they seem to have just stick with what was popular the week they were writing this in and not wonder if it still would be in the future - and for a show that takes place a 1000 years in the future, the very last thing you can be in outdated.

Now that I have it all out of my chest (this was stuff I'd already thought about last season that I carried over, so lol I needed some time to process it I suppose) I really liked the rest of the episode. The kids were a highlight, smitty and URL got the biggest laughs out of me, and I ESPECIALLY can't wait for next week's episode about fry's birthday!

I can't take a picture of it but in futurama “a head in the Polls” season 2 episode 7 with 12 minutes and 49 seconds left in the episode, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson’s heads get a cameo in the head museum under the section “tv-stars” (next to “porn stars”) anyway funny little uncredited scene. Love the influence x files has on the world.

Three Ships:

I had to really think about it. I never really thought about if I had any favorite ships.

From Spy x Family (Loid x Yor) : Pretend to be in a relationship but end of up falling in love. It's really sweet how they parent Anya.

From Futurama (Fry x Leela): Friends to lovers vibes. This ship is more nostalgic. I enjoyed the journey of these two. The finale made me cry. I still need to get around to watching the Hulu reboot.

From The Flower of Evil (Jiwon x Hyun Soo) : How many times do I have to remind you that I love you? How many times will you fall in love all over again till you admit you're in love?

The angst and the drama with this married couple is so good.

Bonus: Bladeweave (Gale x Wyll) : Two people who will easily sacrifice themselves for others see the impact of those actions through each other's eyes. How can you ask the other not to sacrifice themselves when it's all they have known. I don't know. There is something there but I don't feel the need to write their story.

I still feel bad for not picking either one on my playthrough. Maybe when Patch 7 comes out.

Here's the first half of 2022 for Adult Swim. I somehow forgot to ever make an image for 6/27 - 7/3, so I just took a screenshot of CTOON and called it there. The year started strong enough with an entire season dump of Smiling Friends... then ehhh. Shenmue came and went, so did another half of a Robot Chicken season, and Three Busy Debras season 2. Futurama also bombed and started being shoved later and later. The Pibby prank sucked, in hindsight.

Nah. I'm not too interested in it either.

Nostalgia Critic was crazy I literally started yelling when I saw him ESPECIALLY because Zach has made fun of him so much.

I think through memes, but I started watching it when some of my friends started posting abt it more during season 2.

A new character named Scribbly is introduced and becomes the girlfriend of Charlie and Pim. In the process, Charlie and Pim come to the realization that they're in love with each other as well. They become a polycule, and Scribbly becomes a semi-reoccurring character.

I wouldn't really mind hanging out with any of them! But uhh ranked it'd be Pim > Charlie > Allan > Glep

something interesting i noticed in season 7 (9-10 if you follow the broadcast seasons lol) of futurama is that now that fry and leela seem more consistently together, it feels like leela is actually leading things on more, while fry has more moments of obliviousness

like there's been a few episodes where she's the one initiating something or making a suggestive remark but fry being fry is totally oblivious, it's quite a flip from before when fry would always be trying to persuade leela to consider him

10 comfort shows

1. Futurama: I have watched futurama over and over again since I was a child. I can quote almost every episode with my sister and dad.

2. UNHhhh: I’ve taken many many many a long haul flight listening to Trixie and Katya talking about whatever nonsense. They feel like my go to buddies.

3. Theory Of Love: I have rewatched this show more times than I can count. I tend to skip the side couple scenes but every-time I’m sad I’m ready to cry with Third then fall in love with Khai again.

4. Run BTS: BTS just having fun and interacting with each-other? It feels like watching my family. I miss them so much. I can’t use Run BTS to practice Korean because I’ve got the eps memorized so not good for practice 😩

5. Naruto: I skip filler but Naruto still slaps. I got my YouTube in 2005 just to watch it and I rewatch it every couple years never regret.

6. Gavin & Stacy: so I love Nessa and just have great memories watching this show. I know James Corden is a piece of shit but so is his character in this so 🤷🏻

7. Bad Buddy: enemies to lovers and I adore Nanon. I’ve even shown this to my sister.

8. Nozaki-Kun: incredibly funny I’ve read the manga. Every character is amazing.

9. Not Me: thump thump goes my heart every time for OffGun and GawinFirst

Futurama's timeline will never stop being insane to me because I watched the pilot when it aired in 1999. My parents and I were big Simpsons fans, so we were like "OK, let's check out this new Matt Groening show." Then we dealt with football games constantly preempting new episodes and Fox finally canceling the show altogether.

My mom recorded Adult Swim reruns on VHS and later rented DVDs from movie rental stores. In the meantime, we kept hoping for a revival--Adult Swim even had a joke bumper about renewing the series that got my dad excited for a second, lol. The movies came out when I was in high school, then the Comedy Central run when I was in college.

I see people talk about watching the Comedy Central episodes when they were younger, and I'm like "...what? You watched that when you were KIDS? You didn't know what it was like to only have the original run?? How old am I??"

What really blew my mind was when people said they'd watched Rick and Morty as kids. I was like "Nooo, how is that possible? Everyone was an adult when it came out! It wasn't even that long ago--holy shit, it's been a decade? I'm only 30!"

But yeah, I definitely grew up in a Simpsons household. We watched two episodes a night from 6 to 7 P.M. My grandma once asked my parents "You still think that show is funny?" lol. I think it was easing out of the golden age by then.

Parts of season three originally aired the year I was born. Still, one of my friends has me beat--she's a decade older, so she's watched The Simpsons from the beginning.
