September 2024 TBR
Hello friends!! Welcome to the September 2024 TBR. A post where I will attempt to take my best guess at what I will feel like reading for the month of September. Ok, so for my August 2o24 TBR I decided to go easy on myself. Mainly because there’s been a bunch of books that I have started this year that I’m just not making a lot of headway on. And it’s not that I’m not enjoying them. I just keep…

20 questions for fic writers
Thanks for the tag, @curator-on-ao3 🫶
1. How many works do you have on Ao3? 46 works, but if you parse the three drabble collections and a ficlet collection it jumps up to 96.
2. What's your total Ao3 word count? 142,888
3. What fandoms do you write for? Star Trek Strange New Worlds, The Librarians, Once Upon a Tme, Star Trek Voyager, The X-Files (none on ao3), Harry Potter, and King & Maxwell
4. What are your top five fics by kudos? Where Flowers Bloom: The F*ck You Bouquet Once Upon a Time, SwanQueen, Rated T, 2.8k words Prom season is keeping Regina Mills, proprietor of Fairytale Flowers, busy, but when Emma Swan storms into her store one day with a unique request and a hidden connection, her day shifts from busy to odd to (dare she say it) hopeful.
revelation in the light of gray Star Trek Strange New Worlds, PikeUna, Rated G, 2.8k words Ensign Uhura stumbles into sickbay late one night and discovers something new about Captain Pike and Number One.
love is a ghost you can't control Star Trek Strange New Worlds, PikeUna, Rated T, 4.3k words One or two times Christopher Pike, uh, asked Una Chin-Riley about romance while they were both serving on the Antares. (This fic was inspired by and based on a scenario referenced in @curator-on-ao3's fic The Haze!)
Of Paperwork, Knots, and Warm Glowy Things, or, Roland Registers for Kindergarten Once Upon a Time, OutlawQueen, Rated G, 10.5k words Sometimes, Henry lets him sit on his bed with his old textbooks splayed open on his lap, the large tomes covering his legs as he runs his hands across the shiny paper, drinking in the bright pictures breaking up the dark columns of text. The older boy warned him he might not have hardbacked books like that until first grade, but Roland doesn't care. He's going to carry his own backpack and learn how to write and memorize all the names of all the bugs in this realm.
Trekalicious Drabbles Star Trek Strange New Worlds, PikeUna + La'an & Chapel + La'an & Una + Sir Adya/Z'ymria, Rated T, 2.1k words A collection of 100 word drabbles for the #Wednesday100 challenge
5. Do you respond to comments? I'm trying to! I'm very bad about doing it in a timely manner 🙈
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Oh, definitely the scorch. That piece is pure, distilled angst.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Of Paperwork, Knots, and Warm Glowy Things is pretty saccharine
8. Do you get hate on fics? Yeah, I attracted a few trolls with So Are We Alright Then?. Luckily they were no match for the almighty "delete comment" function. Most people are nice.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Eh? Kind of? Most of my stuff stays M or below.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? I've done one: an ending unforseen, which is a crossover between Strange New Worlds and Voyager. I threw Christopher Pike into the Delta Quadrant on Voyager so he could have a chat with Kathryn Janeway.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not that I know of
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? Nope
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Yep!
14. What’s your all time favorite ship? I can't pick a favorite, but I will say that Mulder/Scully, fanon Janeway/Chakotay, OutlawQueen, and Pike/Una have all been formative ships that I've enjoyed watching/reading/writing for over the years.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? First Day (Once Upon a Time OQ). 1 chapter published as a one shot that was received so well I turned it into a novel-length fic that was never published (19 chapters, 8 alternate universes visited, 40k words written with barely the surface scratched). I love it. It's my white whale. I open it up and marvel at the audacity and ambition of my younger self every now and then.
16. What are your writing strengths? Characterization, dialogue. Sometimes I concentrate hard and pull off some nifty minimalist prose.
17. What are your writing weaknesses? Details and self doubt.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? I'm not bilingual, so if I did, I would 100% run it by a native speaker if someone was available to spot check.
19. First fandom you wrote for? Either Voyager or X-Files, I can't remember which
20. Favorite fic you’ve written? I love writing the drabbles, they're little puzzleboxes of happy.
tagging: @enterprise-come-in and @meddow with apologies if y'all've been there done that

“FOUR BROKERS ARE ALLOWED TO START TRADING,” Ottawa Journal. February 1, 1930. Page 3. ---- Solloway Mills', Gibson's, Moysey's and Paterson's Under Supervision. ---- PLAN TO STAGE COMPLETE INQUIRY ---- Remove Embargo on Funds to Aid the General Public. ---- Canadian Press by Direct Wire. TORONTO, Ont. Feb. 1 - Decision to hold a meeting of the Attorneys-General of the various provinces, or their representatives, to discuss the stock exchange situation, and the reopening for business under Government supervision today of four of the five Toronto stock brokerage firms whose principals were arrested Thursday. charged with conspiracy to defraud, were the outstanding developments today in the nation-wide investigation of trading in mining securities.
Date Not Set. The meeting of provincial attorneys-general probably will be held in Winnipeg, but the actual date has not been set. Confirming the announcement in Victoria by Hon. R. H. Pooley, Attorney-General in the British Columbia Government, that a conference would be held within the next few days. Hon. W. H. Price, Attorney-General of Ontario, said the matter had been one of considerable discussion between the other attorneys-general. and himself, since the first of the week. Long-distance telephone conversations between officials of the Ontario Depart- ment and four western attorneys-general were conducted.
Under Supervision. Under the supervision of Messrs. G. T. Clarkson and George Edwards. chartered accountants appointed by the Government, the firms of Solloway-Mills, Homer L. Gibson, D. S Paterson and A. E. Moysey, members of the Standard Stock and Mining Exchange, resumed business this morning.
The fifth firm affected by the recent Government action filed a voluntary petition in bankruptcy a few hours after Malcolm Stobie and C. J. Forlong were arrested on Thursday. The order having been granted by W. J. Riley, registrar in bankruptcy at Osgoode Hall, Stobie, Forlong and Company remains closed.
Decision to allow the four firms to reopen under the supervision of Government agents followed a conference with a Government committee. The Government on the advice of the committee consisting of Strachan Johnston, K.C., and Messrs. Clarkson and Edwards, decided to revoke the embargo on the funds and securities of the four firms put into effect shortly after the arrests last Thursday.
To Aid Public. "The action of the Attorney-General in placing the embargo on the funds and securities has been for the benefit of he trading public," said a statement issued by Mr. Price, "inasmuch as it will result in their safeguarding and supervision by Messrs. Clarkson and Edwards."

fine hard frost morning F32 ½° at 9 and a small [?] of sun – breakfast at 9 ¼ in about ½ hour out – about – set David Mann at levelling the kitchen court – Robert and Benjamnin at the drain mouth in the Low fishpond – Jack Green and Micheal at the garden drains or what – Amos and another or 2 putting in farm syable west window (a round headed double light) – young Mallinson and Riley at the farm stable stalls – spoke to M- at 12 – said if A. Green declined taking the Mytham and Ing etc. M- might have them all at £30 a year – sat sometime with A- then out again – at the Low fishpond – out of patience at so much doing always and so little done – came in to Mr. Harper who arrived at 2 ½ - left him to take luncheon and then left him with Booth – (out) till came in at 4, and sat talking till after 7 – and then out with a lantern with H- looking at proposed footpath and underfooting terrace wall, till near 7 – had had Robert Mann with us – with him (after H- went away a little before 7) till after 7 – Robert thinks that supposing the platform wall 4ft. broad in the bottom (the line along the Wakefield road 60 yards – the deepest part 41 yards deep) and to average a wall 3 yards high and 3ft. broad the carting would be worth (60x3 = 180/7 = 25 5/7 roods) 15/. per road i.e. say 26 x 15+ the labour at 7/. per road = 22/. per rood – Mr. H- and I long talk about the Northgate hotel the mill etc and speculation in general – except in trace money (as an investment only worth permanently 3 ½ pc. or what one could get (4 ½ p.c.) on mortgage and so said Babbage in his calculations – H- staid with Mr. and Mrs. Crossland from 6 to 11 pm before he could settle about the hotel – they had very near been off – would have the £300 thrown off - .:. to have £200 the 1st and £100 the 2nd of the terms of 5 years – after a long talk it seemed H-‘s opinion it would be better to paint the casino as originally intended – the painting would be done in London and put up in about 3 weeks – to be done in June next = £200 – said it would convenience me if H- did not come again till after the 3rd January next – agreed – he may come on the 4th – Mr. C- to take possession of the hotel on the 1st January and the lease to day from the 1st February next – it seems that Mr. Parker may think Mr. Crossland would have done me a kindness to take the hotel on any terms – with rent or without! dinner at 7 ¼ - John Oates came at 8 – with him from then to 9 ¾ then tea –read the paper and came upstairs at 11 5 at which hour F34° fine day for the time of year – promised JO. a bit of drain that he wanted – I should leave a barrier of coal 200 yards thick against the dead water – the coal would he thought sell at 9d. on the average of which I ought to get ½ clear – suppose I get 4d. per load 4840 yards at 20d. = £403.6.8 per acre – I ought to let the Stump X Inn at the present rent £120 for the 1st year and then put the additional £20 for the new building – that would not be too hard – A- had letter tonight from Thomas G- the towns commoners taking away the Greece field water course – wrote all the above of today till12 tonight – note tonight from the Philosophical society – general meeting 4 December at 7pm and at [same] special meeting to receive the opinion the council on the suggested admission of the public to the museum

Gloster Meteor F.4 ‘EE531’ by Alan Wilson Via Flickr: c/n G-5/278595 (centre-section) Built in 1946 and flew as a trials and test airframe with the Aeroplane and Armament Experimental Establishment and with the Royal Aircraft Establishment at Lasham. On retirement in August 1953 she was allocated the maintenance serial 7090M. She arrived at the museum in June 1973 and is the oldest surviving production Meteor in the UK. Midland Air Museum. Coventry Airport, Baginton, Warwickshire, UK. 1st October 2020 This wonderful story of the aeroplanes early preserved life was written by Roger Smith and is copied from the ‘Flypast Forum’:- “Tipped off by Alan W. Hall via Gordon Riley that this aircraft was sitting in a hangar at Lasham it is probably the first aircraft acquisition 'targetted' (proactive rather than reactive) by the Midland Aircraft Preservation Society (forerunner of MAM). Not having the £175 price asked for by Mr Kenworthy, Dept. F6t, MoD Harrowgate (a lot of money 40-odd years ago) we had just about raised the required sum (in loans) from MAPS members when a sponsor was found in Ford dealer Meteor Ford Ltd of Edgbaston, Birmingham. Members (mainly amateurs and without the use of manuals) dismantled, transported and re-assembled the aircraft on Meteor Ford's courtyard to be on display for a few weeks. It then took up the nomadic life of the MAPS by travelling around the Midlands to such places as Weston Park, Shropshire; Bentham, Glos. (where it was built); Coventry Airport (pre Museum); BBC Pebble Mill, Birmingham (where it appeared with three other MAPS aeroplanes on "Pebble Mill at One") - we used to joke that it probably did more miles by road than it had flown. We 'amateurs' got the moves down to a fine art - with the use of an Iron Fairy mobile crane at each end we could dismantle, transport (on a single 40ft. artic.) and re-assemble all in one day. After a spell of external display at the newly-created MAM it was restored by a Manpower Services Commission team in Coventry and became one of the first exhibits inside the Sir Frank Whittle Jet Heritage Centre where she remains to this day.”

Tumblr media
For the week of 22 July 2019
Quick Bits:
A Walk Through Hell #12 concludes what has been an excellent horror tale from Garth Ennis, Goran Sudžuka, Ive Svorcina, and Rob Steen with another trip into existential terror as we’re given a glimpse of what this is all about and what’s coming.
| Published by AfterShock
Tumblr media
Action Comics #1013 keeps a lot of plates spinning as it works through elements of “Year of the Villain”, Event Leviathan, the ongoing Invisible Mafia story thread, and the Rose and Thorn revival. It’s kind of impressive as to how it remains entertaining and engrossing with as much going on.
| Published by DC Comics
Tumblr media
Age of Conan: Bêlit #5 is another ending this week, as we finish off Bêlit’s coming of age origin story, as she confronts the Stygian priest and lays claim to her title of Queen of the Black Coast. Great art from Kate Niemczyk, Scott Hanna, Andrea Di Vito, and Jason Keith.
| Published by Marvel
Tumblr media
Amazing Spider-Man #26 introduces us to the new Sinister Syndicate fully as they plan an attack on Boomerang. It’s kind of funny to see him still getting into trouble even now that he’s trying to stay legit. Great art from Kev Walker and Laura Martin.
| Published by Marvel
Tumblr media
Ascender #4 gives us a few surprises in the fight between the vampires and the resistance. The grey washes, with mixes of red, from Dustin Nguyen on the vampire’s throneworld is very impressive.
| Published by Image
Tumblr media
Batgirl #37 launches the new creative team of Cecil Castellucci, Carmine Di Giandomenico, Jordie Bellaire, and AndWorld Design with part one of “Oracle Rising”. There’s a nice battle with Killer Moth, emphasizing what some villains are doing in order to try to get noticed by Luthor to receive the offer, while playing up the expense that goes into crimefighting. Also, the Terrible Trio unleash something probably not too good.
| Published by DC Comics
Tumblr media
Dark Red #5 concludes the first arc as Chip and Evie try to fight off an army of Nazi vampires. It’s good, with some nice funny moments. Great art from Corin Howell and Mark Englert.
| Published by AfterShock
Tumblr media
Detective Comics #1008 is a straight-forward single issue story of Batman and Joker at the circus from Peter J. Tomasi, Doug Mahnke, Jaime Mendoza, Dave Baron, and Rob Leigh. It’s a refreshing change of pace from the extended arcs, even as it sets up a new threat in the “Year of the Villain” offering.
| Published by DC Comics
Tumblr media
Dial H for Hero #5 gets a little meta as we dive into the Multiverse, the Heroverse, and the Bleed from Sam Humphries, Joe Quinones, Scott Hanna, Jordan Gibson, and Dave Sharpe. The use of breaking through panels, reproductions of old comics scenes, and a variation of styles just deliver phenomenal storytelling.
| Published by DC Comics / Wonder Comics
Tumblr media
Dungeons & Dragons: A Darkened Wish #2 continues to fill in the backstory of the adventurers’ time with the White Sails, introducing us to the pitfalls that harried them, before giving more hints in the present of the nightmare that tore them apart. B. Dave Walters, Tess Fowler, Jay Fotos, and Neil Uyetake are delivering an entertaining fantasy tale here.
| Published by IDW
Tumblr media
Fearless #1 is a new three-issue anthology mini-series spotlighting a number of the women of Marvel, both characters and creative talent. This first issue leads off with a continuing lead feature from Seanan McGuire, Claire Roe, Rachelle Rosenberg, and Janice Chiang, as Sue Richards, Carol Danvers, and Storm prepare to visit a girls camp as motivational speakers. There’s also an entertaining Mille the Model back-up from Leah Williams, Nina Vakueva, Rosenberg, and Chiang. And a very funny Jessica Jones story from the Captain Marvel team of Kelly Thompson, Carmen Carnero, Tamra Bonvillain, with Chiang. Though short, that last story is pretty much worth the price of the issue alone.
| Published by Marvel
Tumblr media
Five Years #3 sees Tambi meet with Ivy and Julie to discuss that various nations around the world are dangerously developing Phi-alloy technology. Also a surprise appearance of people we thought were out. Great art as always from Terry Moore.
| Published by Abstract Studio
Tumblr media
The Flash #75 delivers three stories for this extra-sized anniversary issue. The lead concludes the “Year One” arc. This is some of the best art that I have ever seen from Howard Porter, he and Hi-Fi just deliver amazing artwork here. There are also two back-ups, one hinting at things to come in the future for Barry and the other tying in to “Year of the Villain” as Captain Cold receives Luthor’s offer.
| Published by DC Comics
Tumblr media
Guardians of the Galaxy #7 begins the second arc, “Faithless”, from Donny Cates, Cory Smith, David Curiel, and Cory Petit. It really introduces us to the new Universal Church of Truth as they take out an entire squadron of the Nova Corps and then worse things happen as the Guardians go off to investigate. I love the name for the Guardians’ new ship and that final page is one hell of a shock.
| Published by Marvel
Tumblr media
History of the Marvel Universe #1 is an interesting project from Mark Waid, Javier Rodríguez, Álvaro López, and Joe Caramagna. It’s framed as Galactus telling Franklin Richards (at least I think that’s Franklin Richards) the history of the universe before it dies and the next is reborn. As expected, it’s dry facts, but it’s fascinating in how it’s comprehensively presented and the artwork from Rodríguez and López is jaw-dropping gorgeous. There are also annotations in the back to show where these events come from. It’s well put together and I highly recommended it to die-hard Marvel fans.
| Published by Marvel
Tumblr media
Invisible Kingdom #5 concludes the first arc with an almost entirely one-sided battle between the Sun Dog and a Lux battleship. G. Willow Wilson, Christian Ward, and Sal Cipriano elevate the tension nicely through this issue and give a few surprises when everything seems grim and it looks like the end.
| Published by Dark Horse / Berger Books
Tumblr media
Killer Groove #3 wonderfully showcases one of Jackie’s cases as it intertwines with the music scene and criminal underworld. Ollie Masters, Eoin Marron, Jordie Bellaire, and Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou are doing a nice job with this series of crafting one larger story out of many separate smaller tales.
| Published by AfterShock
Tumblr media
Lazarus: Risen #2 is another dense read. The series has always been hefty, but this new format has elevated things further, doubling up comics content and adding a prose short story, the letters pages, and extra content like gaming material and the usual in-world advertisements. I’m loving it. Greg Rucka, Michael Lark, Tyler Boss, Santi Arcas, Simon Bowland, Adam Christopher, and Crystal Frasier are definitely giving you your money’s worth and more here. Excellent comics content as the war between Carlyle and Morray/D’Souza heats up.

Tumblr media
Livewire #8 pits Amanda versus Jada for a final round. It’s still interesting how practically everyone is trying to portray Amanda’s actions as harmful and villainous. Great art from Kano.
| Published by Valiant
Tumblr media
Martian Manhunter #7 sees J’onn and Diane uncover some of the results of the experiments that have been going on with the kidnapped and missing people, it’s horrifying. Incredible and haunting artwork in this one from Riley Rossmo and Ivan Plascencia.
| Published by DC Comics
Tumblr media
Marvels: Epilogue is a short, but sweet, coda to the Marvels series from Kurt Busiek, Alex Ross, John Roshell, and Richard Starkings. It spotlights events from X-Men #98 through the eyes of Phil Sheldon and his daughters, capturing some of the awe, wonder, and terror that Sheldon experienced during the main series. The book is filled out with an interview with Busiek and Ross on their experience with the series and what it’s like to look back on it 25 years later, as well as interviews with the editors who worked on the book.
| Published by Marvel
Tumblr media
Middlewest #9 sets out a new quest for Abel as he comes across the Nowak people. Skottie Young, Jorge Corona, Jean-Francois Beaulieu, and Nate Piekos are continuing to make magic with this series. The art is beautiful and the story is endlessly captivating.
| Published by Image
Tumblr media
Psi-Lords #2 continues to investigate these four captives, changed for whatever reason by the Psi-Lords, and the habitat of their prison. An interesting jail hierarchy of gangs is revealed and a bit of a memory of the four’s lives before being captured. Gorgeous art from Renato Guedes.
| Published by Valiant
Tumblr media
Star Pig #1 is weird. Very weird. Delilah S. Dawson, Francesco Gaston, Sebastian Cheng, and Shawn Lee give us the story of a kid on her way to space camp whose ship is struck and destroyed by an asteroid, saved by a space pig and a scavenger energy ball. It’s probably one of the more unique tales I’ve seen in a while.
| Published by IDW
Tumblr media
Sword Master #1, like Aero before it, features two stories. In the first, Greg Pak adapts into English a tale from Shuizhu and Gunji of the titular hero, Lin Lie, and his quest to find his missing father. It’s an interesting start and the artwork from Gunji is gorgeous. The back up original story pairs Shang-Chi up with Lin in a story from Greg Pak, Ario Anindito, Rachelle Rosenberg, and Travis Lanham. It follows up on their appearance in the New Agents of Atlas tie-in to “War of the Realms” and presents an interesting antagonist on their trail.
| Published by Marvel
Tumblr media
Valkyrie #1 is a wonderful debut from Jason Aaron, Al Ewing, CAFU, Jesus Aburtov, and Joe Sabino. We get some continued supporting cast from Jane Foster’s time as Thor, although with a new status quo, and an interesting hook in trying to track down Dragonfang, the former Valkyrie’s sword. The art from CAFU and Aburtov is beautiful.
| Published by Marvel
Tumblr media
Warlord of Mars Attacks #2 continues this crossover of John Carter and Mars Attacks. It’s interesting how it incorporates Edgar Rice Burroughs’ stories as actual things in this world and explains how Mars as a dead planet and one as teeming with life as Barsoom could exist simultaneously.
| Published by Dynamite
Tumblr media
The Weatherman Vol. 2 #2 gives us more of a look at the nightmare that has consumed Earth as the crew attempt to find the doctor who might be able to fix everything. It goes about as well as could be expected. The monster designs and execution from Nathan Fox and Moreno Dinisio are incredible.
| Published by Image
Tumblr media
Web of Venom: Funeral Pyre #1 is another one-shot catching up on the wider world of Venom as we barrel headlong into Absolute Carnage. Cullen Bunn, Joshua Cassara, Alberto Alburquerque, Jay David Ramos, and Clayton Cowles give us a great story checking in with Andi Benton, the former Mania and occasional sidekick to Flash Thompson’s Venom.
| Published by Marvel
Tumblr media
Wonder Woman #75 continues “Return of the Amazons” from G. Willow Wilson, Xermanico, Jesus Merino, Vicente Cifuentes, Romulo Fajardo Jr., and Pat Brosseau. This arc basically brings Wilson’s run around full circle to deal with some of the elements that kicked off her first issue as Diana faces off against Grail. Some really nice double page spreads with border art from Xermanico.

As part of the July 2019 AO3 Ship Stats, here are the Top 100 F/F pairings with the most total works on Archive Of Our Own.
Of the 200 names on this list, there are 53 women of colour and 27 women of ambiguous race, compared with 42 and 35 in the 2017 list. For comparison, the overall top 100 list includes 46 people of colour and 8 who are racially ambiguous.
Because of the way I produced this data, it is possible some F/F ships are missing, particularly those in fandoms dominated by other categories of ship. For more information, see the project FAQs. This project also includes an All-Time Top 100 list and 2017-2019 Top 100, and can be found cross-posted on AO3.
Edit: Fixed race classification for Éponine Thénardier.

Recensione
Upside Down – Giulia Ross Ciao a tuttioggi vi parlo di Upside Down di Giulia Ross. No, no, aspetta. E sta urlando. No santo cielo, non sta urlando.
