Eastbound Wolverine
After seeing the westbound Wolverine, I knew it wouldn’t be long for the eastbound (number 354) to come along. I thought the headlight would light up the coaling tower, but perhaps I will have to do again in darker conditions.
Once again: former Michigan Central between Galesburg and Augusta, Michigan. I believe this portion of the line is now 110 MPH as it has been west of Kalamazoo for quite some time.

I think Knox County, Fox River Valley, Chicago, & Algonquin ought to be added as haunted places. I grew up in Knox County, known for its old Edwardian & Victorian houses, its horrific rural crimes, and not as well known for the massacres & ethnic cleansing of indigenous people, abuses against disabled & mentally ill persons, and women. I have only just begun to tell our story & the account of the abuses committed against my siblings & me, hidden in secret, sealed when my parents died.
My three surviving siblings, Karola, Mag, Gjeorjiis, and I, who are each on the autism spectrum, according to Maggie, a.k.a. Margaret or Peg G______. I concur with her; however, I believe that my brother, Maggie & I are also ADHD & survivors of childhood trauma. Mag & the others must tell their own story - it is theirs to tell. I intend to go into more detail about my own abuse & struggles.
What does this have to do with haunted places? Abuse is taught, passed on from one generation to another. Ghosts 👻 exist maybe because they weren't able to tell their story or get justice. I don't have much time left, so I had better begin. I don't want to hang around as an unfulfilled or angry spirit.

Arson is suspected in a Galesburg house fire which saw four residents escape without injuries late Sunday night. A family cat died, however, died from injuries sustained during the blaze.  The Galesburg Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 878 N. Cherry Street at 11:49 p.m. Sunday. SP Thru Galesburg
Back in the early 1990s no trip to Galesburg would be complete without getting a SP train on BN Trackage rights (and later on next door Santa Fe too). July 6 of 1994 finds SP 8529 coming thru town on a stacker headed to Chicago with a West Quincy, MO crew. Randy Williams photo

Westbound Wolverine
Just after sunset, an Amtrak Wolverine (355) is seen screaming by the old coaling tower just west of Augusta, Michigan. The fast moving train will blow by Galesburg very soon and make a station stop at Kalamazoo. This is former Michigan Central between Detroit and Chicago of course.
Finally becoming quite common on this line, the new Venture cars seem huge compared to the Amfleet café on this train. And, I hate to say this, kind of resemble coffins in my mind.
