Le petit monde de Chao Planoy

Quand je commence le visionnage de la série Blank, quelque chose m’amuse beaucoup.

Le personnage principal de cette série s’appelle Nueng, appartient à une famille noble et sa sœur s’appelle Sam. C’est marrant parce que dans Gap, il y a Sam, femme d’une famille noble qui a une sœur qui s’appelle Nueng. Ce qui est encore plus drôle, c’est que Nueng signifie « un » et Sam, « trois » et dans les deux séries, elles ont une troisième sœur qui se prénomme Song, c’est-à-dire « deux ».

A ce moment-là, je me dis simplement que cela doit être commun dans les familles nobles thaïlandaises d’appeler leur enfant Nueng, Song et Sam.

Mais lorsque, dans Blank, Nueng rend visite à sa sœur, on apprend qu’elle vit avec une femme se prénommant Mon. Ça commence à faire beaucoup de coïncidences.

Dans les deux séries, Gap et Blank, il y a une grand-mère abusive, Sam aime les femmes et la sienne s'appelle Mon, Nueng est peintre, une artiste sans-le-sou... C’est là que je me demande si les deux dramas ne se dérouleraient pas dans le même univers ?

Après quelques recherches sur internet, je découvre que oui, Blank et Gap sont deux séries se passant dans le même univers. Les deux séries sont adaptées de romans de Chao Planoy, une autrice thaïlandaise à l’origine de plusieurs romans GL qui ont été adaptés en série ou le seront dans un futur plus ou moins proche. Toutes ses histoires sont interconnectées par leurs personnages. Ce que nous allons appeler le Chao Planoy Univers.

Je vais essayer de vous décrire les différentes connexions que nous pouvons voir entre les séries du Chao Planoy Univers. Je dois préciser que j’écris ce billet le 11 novembre 2024 et ne me base que sur les séries que j’ai vues et les informations que j’ai pu collecter sur MyDramaList.

Il y a tout d’abord Gap où Nueng, personnage principal de Blank, est la sœur ainée de Sam.

On retrouve d’ailleurs Sam, mais aussi sa petite amie Mon dans la série Blank.

Wan, le docteur Wanwiwa, est l’une des seules amies de Nueng et le personnage principal de Affair. Nueng va d’ailleurs faire une courte apparition dans Affair.

Pleng, second personnage principal de Affair, est une chanteuse qui tournera un clip dans la série Dream (My Marvellous Dream Is You) avec Wan (Dawan), personnage principal de la série précédemment cité.

Karn, personnage principal de Apple (Apple My Love), sera d’ailleurs la co-star du clip.

La série Us, qui devrait sortir d’ici peu, nous contera l’histoire de Dokrak et Pam, qui sont allées au lycée avec Dawan et qu’on a donc vu dans Dream.

En ce moment, est diffusée Pluto dans laquelle nous n’avons pas encore rencontré de personnages du Chao Planoy Univers et sont annoncées deux nouvelles adaptations de ses romans, Mate et Ryhthm.

Tous ces personnages reliés les uns aux autres me rappelle la toile d’Alice Pieszecki dans la série The L Word. Le projet du personnage, autrement appelé The Chart, est un élément central des premières saisons qui représentent toutes les relations amoureuses et sexuelles entre femmes lesbiennes et bisexuelles de Los Angeles. Cette conception des relations humaines nous rappelle à quel point le monde est petit.

Cette interconnexion des histoires de Chao Planoy n’est finalement pas si étonnante, puisqu’elles se déroulent toutes dans notre monde moderne, les protagonistes orbitent toutes autour de Bangkok et, encore une fois, le monde est petit.

Les séries n’étant pas adaptées par les mêmes équipes, on peut constater que Nueng a été interprétée par trois actrices différentes depuis 2022.

Chao Planoy est donc une autrice en vogue dans les adaptations sérielles en Thaïlande, on peut même parler d’un starter pack pour un bon drama GL Thaï, mais on verra cela dans un prochain billet.

Constantly think about the coolest cyborg society concept I ever seen was the idea of it being in a setting where robots with sentience had been pre-established for CENTURIES and had many wars against humanity but the two finally settled their differences by humanity deciding cybernetics needed to be a mandated law. Then I remembered where this concept is from and starts sobbing how it’s not only not as fleshed out in the series itself it’s from but its “the nichest series within a already obscure franchise” because if Gods exist they really fucking hate what I choose to obsess over.

optimus is a yearner, definitely, but i wouldn't consider him a piner. it's more like, if circumstances allow for it (maybe even if they don't), he will just straightforwardly state how he feels about someone to said someone; provided he figures out what that feeling is. not pining simply in the sense that if he's come to recognize himself having caught feelings he will try to deliver that information in its rawest form asap, cards on the table, just so they know. but yearning in the sense that having done so taking a step back to see if it's actionable or appropriate at the moment &, in the event it isn't quite, biding time for when it is so, & seizing the first opportunity lest it slip from his servos entirely.

4 years later I finally got a doctor who would order bloodwork to verify my gluten issues, and she was all "don't panic if it comes back normal — that doesn't mean you don't have a gluten intolerance, it just means you don't have celiac" and the results came back so far outside the normal range that I've been laughing about it for 3 days.
