Had an awesome day at the TFNation Mini-Con in Manchester today, got to meet Gavin Spence from TRDQ and the legendary Nick Roche too!
Got my hands on some cool art, and some of the new ROTB Studio Series bots, and I gotta say, they're better than I thought they were gonna be, especially Cheetor!
Can't wait for the full con in August!

catching up with the guys i mentioned in my first u18 men's worlds post, now that the gold medal game is over and canada's won:
- gavin mckenna is undisputably the Next Big Thing. as an underage player, he ended the tournament 2nd in overall points and 1st in goal-scoring with 10 goals and 10 assists in 7 games. #mctankformckenna
- tij iginla can rip some pucks and i wish he were still a tbird. 6 goals and 6 assists in 7 games. check out this photo with his dad after the game (the flames have got to draft him, right?).
Tumblr media
- kashawn aitcheson defended well, good in transition, according to scott wheeler. he ended the tournament with 1 goal (tied for second in goal-scoring for canadian defensemen) as well as 2 assists for a total of 3 points in 7 games.
he got a little buried in the net as the celebrations began:
Tumblr media
- malcolm spence ended with the three goals from the preliminary rounds as well as 4 assists for a total of 7 points in 7 games.
here's spence handing off the trophy to mckenna, who handed it off to iginla next.
Tumblr media
the usa probably deserved to win throughout most of that gold medal game, but hey, who can stop a mckenna hat trick?

An excerpt.
Gwen Stefani has had an impressive trajectory. She went from an ice cream shop worker to a global sensation in just a few short years. In 1986, Stefani formed the iconic ska band No Doubt alongside her brother, Eric Stefani, and their buddy, John Spence. However, Spence tragically took his own life when he was just 18. And although interpersonal band issues have often led to his erasure from history, Stefani supposedly immortalized Spence in the song "Wonderful Life" on her sophomore solo album, "The Sweet Escape."
No Doubt had several hits like "Just A Girl," "Don't Speak," and "Hella Good" over their lengthy career. But after an indefinite hiatus, Stefani struck out on her own. She joined "The Voice" as a coach in the seventh season, which is also where she met her husband, Blake Shelton. Just a year into her tenure, Stefani ended things with her husband, Gavin Rossdale, while fellow judge Shelton filed for divorce from Miranda Lambert. The two singers bonded over the pain of their respective marriages ending and gradually fell in love.
They got engaged after five years of dating and Stefani and Shelton had a simple wedding in 2021. But for Stefani, the road to this fairytale romance wasn't paved with roses. The "Hollaback Girl" singer's marriage to Rossdale took a toxic turn. As a diaristic songwriter, Stefani naturally poured all of her emotions into her art. Although she's now in a happy place with her marriage, every time Stefani listens to her old music, she feels a tidal wave of emotions.
In a radio interview on "The Tommy Show," Gwen Stefani revealed how she feels listening to her old songs years after her divorce from Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale. "Because of my situation right now, which we all know what I'm talking about, I feel like I go back and listen to a lot of that stuff and I'm, like, I get sick," she admitted. "You look at the songs and go, 'That was a red flag. That was a moment where I was feeling just as bad as I feel today, and why did I keep it up?" (via InStyle).

TFA Season 4 Script reading!
HEY HEY SO! Now that it’s over, I can finally talk about it: TFNation broadcasted the script reading of the 3 pilot episodes of Transformers Animated Season 4 today!
If you missed it, don’t worry - apparently, they’re gonna upload all three episodes on their youtube channel soon! :D  The reading is done by all the original voice actors from the show (apart from Sari, because Tara Strong couldn’t make it unfortunately), and was illustrated by Ed Pirrie, Gavin Spence, Andy Turnbull and me!
I’m so, so happy that this is finally accessible to everybody, after it was a con exclusive in 2019;; Please check it out when you get the chance, hearing everybody back together made me so nostalgic for this fantastic show, and I really hope you enjoy it just as much as we did working on it ;w;

i was just reviewing the stats for canada's men's u18 team at worlds so far and realized that of the top 4 canadian goal-scorers so far, 3 of them are players of colour—tij iginla (nigerian ancestry, 3 goals), malcolm spence (jamaican ancestry, 3 goals), and gavin mckenna (tr'ondëk hwëch'in ancestry, 4 goals, also the youngest canadian player and tied for the overall scoring lead). additionally, kashawn aitcheson, who's black, is one of two canadian defensemen who've scored a goal so far.
there's still a preliminary game left and then the quarter-finals etc., so we'll see what's yet to come for these players in the tournament! i just thought this was really cool. these are the current players representing canadian hockey!

On 17th May 1741 George Watson’s Hospital School was opened in Edinburgh with 11 pupils.
The school was established according to the instructions of George Watson who bequeathed the bulk of his fortune of £12,000 - a vast sum in 1723 — to found a hospital school for the provision of post-primary boarding education to the “children and grandchildren of decayed Merchants of Edinburgh, and of the Ministers of the Old Church thereof”. He further expressed a preference for those by the surname of Davidson or Watson.
Watson was never a member of the Merchant Company of Edinburgh, but he was impressed by their running of the Merchant Maiden Hospital and so he chose them to implement the terms of his will. After some years, the Governors finally bought land known as Heriot’s Croft, located off Lauriston Place in Edinburgh, close to the Meadows and opposite George Heriot’s School. The foundation stone was laid on 22 May 1738, and the building was completed early in 1741.
At the time, there was concern that this site was too far from the city a point I explain to many visitors I have shown around Edinburgh to show how small the city once was.In accordance with Watson’s will, the Governors were responsible for former pupils up to the age of 25; they were helped to find apprenticeships and paid an allowance.
Watson’s stated preference was for allowing the Hospital’s charges to become skilled workers, though the Governors also allowed boys who showed an ability to pursue medicine or academia
By the 1860s, the hospital school system had fallen into general public disrepute, while the Merchant Company was fearful both of government intervention in the schooling system and of its own decline. The solution was to re-found Watson’s, and the three other hospitals under its governorship, as day schools. In July 1868 the Company applied to Parliament for powers to reorganise their schools and make different use of their endowments to as to make education more widely available.
“Watsons was thus completely transformed, reopening on 26 September 1870 as a fee-paying day school with a roll of 800 boys, initially called George Watson’s College Schools for Boys”’.
More change was to come quickly. In 1869, the original Hospital building was sold to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. When the infirmary sought to expand in 1871, the school moved a short distance west to the former Merchant Maiden Hospital building in Archibald Place. The original Hospital building was incorporated into the infirmary, and the chapel remained in use as the hospital chapel until the infirmary was itself moved away. The remains of the building were demolished in 2004 during the redevelopment of the infirmary site by the Quartermile consortium, which also redeveloped the site of the Archibald Place buildings, which had in turn been demolished in the 1930s after the school moved to its present site in Colinton.
Sport has always played a major part of the school, Watsonians FP RFC is affiliated to it, the FP  stands for former pupils and one pf our all time great players, Gavin Hastings was educated at Watsons and played for the rugby team.
Former pupils at the school include James Craig,  Gavin and Scott Hastings, Chris Hoy, Basil Spence, Jack Docherty, Gordon Kennedy and  Robin Williamson.
