GX Teacher!Bakura au info!
( @gx-gameon i figured you'd want more)
-Bakura is so so unhappy that his ties to TKB keep chasing him around. Why is there a giant carving of the Millennium Items in the abandoned dorm? Why is his personal Duel Spirit buddy Diabound Kernel?
-He gets promoted to Slifer Red dorm head right before the Genex tournament since Daitokuji died, which means he gets a long red coat to wear for the rest of the series! 🙃 (He still teaches history though)
-Tragoedia from the GX manga is around. He's getting a bit of a motivation upgrade where he's initially delighted that TKB reincarnated, but then horrified that said reincarnation sided with the pharaoh. Tragoedia just will not leave Bakura alone.
-Tragoedia also completely replaces Nightshroud as the final villain.
-The Tenjoins get improved roles. Asuka is the one to free Fubuki from Tragoedia's control in the volcano duel, and Fubuki in turn saves Asuka from the Society of Light.
-Fubuki also quickly clocks Bakura's past possession problems.
-Themes of history repeating/cycling, reincarnations and 'destined roles', not letting your past haunt you in the present day.

Ok here is the list for the DMC/ Yu-Gi-Oh Crossover
Quick Note: Ignis is freaking out along with others like Scare, Ziggy, and Walker and few others who rush over too Slifer too ask for help in any way too track down Ash and the others that were thrown into the rift. Oh and incase your wondering why there are so many Duel Spirits lost it was because it was Ash's Birthday and a lot of Duel Spirits were enjoying the festivities as they were all of Ash's friends and family
Chronological
DMC 3
Starting - Time Thieves Windy and Redoer, Genex Controller ( Gizmo), Cooky Yummy ( Choco), Kashtira Riseheart, Rapid Warrior
The Entire Wind-Up Archetype including the Link and Xyz, Speedroid Colonel Clackers ( Colon), Symphonic Warrior Miccs ( Mike), Phantom Bouncer, Photon Bouncer, Dark Strike Fighter, Fiendsmith Engraver, Heroic Champion - Excalibur
DMC 1 Decode Talker, Ancient Gear Gadget, Darklord Ukobach and Fluffal Angel ( Bach and Angie), Genex Ally Powercell, War Rock Meteoragon, War Rock Gactos, Genex Ally Axel,
DMC 2 and Anime Ancient Gear Golem, Summoned Skull, Gagaga Cowboy, Zubababancho Gagagacoat, Locomontion R-Genex, Junk Synchron ( Blue), Genex Ally Triarm, Genex Ally Triforce,
DMC 4 One-Eyed Skill Gainer, Kashtira Fenrir, Kashitra Ogre, The Magnet Warriors and the Electro Magnet Warriors, Black Ray Lancer, Submersible Carrier Aero Shark,
DMC 5 Kashtira Arise-Heart, Gauntlet Launcher, Black Luster Soldier,
Will Change but for now this is what I got! Anything too change add, and any other notes?
Can only imagine how chaotic those birthdays would get with the other fandoms and Yugioh eras. Especially if none of the characters realize how many Duel Spirits Ash has befriended.
I imagine this one of the few occasions where Slifer is super concerned. Rifts like that don't happen unless someone in the Human World is messing with something pretty powerful. Nevermind when it becomes apparent it occurs in five different points in time.
Slifer checks in with the other two to see if any rifts have appeared within their regions. Thankfully none have manifested but they do lend aid in search of Ash and their missing companions. Ra sends over Yummy Snatchy since this particular monster has a knack for finding members from their archetype.
Like Choco who was in our duelist's death grip as they got dragged in together. Find the Yummy Cooky and they find the missing birthday kid.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters GX Episodes 102-104 Subbed (Finalized)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Previously: Episodes 99-101 Subbed [Finalized])
(Check out my Subbed!GX Stream Masterpost!)
TURN-102: The Pulse of Light VS the Neo-Spacians
Ed was defeated in his battle against Saiou, who was taken by the Pulse of Light. Saiou asks Judai for his key to the laser satellite in exchange for Ed, pushing him into a corner. Right then, Neos appears and prevents the key from getting to Saiou--causing a furious Saiou to duel with Judai and settle this. As with his bout with Ed, he predicts the future, leading the duel to play out in his favor. For his part, Judai uses his Fusion specialty to summon Monsters, but...
TURN-103: Judai in a Pinch! The Light Barrier Field Magic
Saiou, taken by the Pulse of Light, activates his Light Barrier Field Magic. This barrier has an effect that even weakens the power of Card Spirits, driving Judai's Monsters into a corner. Saiou also summons his "The World" Arcana Force and pounces on Judai. Elsewhere, with both laser satellite keys in hand, Prince Ojin--being controlled by the evil Saiou--activates the satellite. Kenzan tries to stop him, but he's already too late as the laser satellite fires its beam right at the Earth. Will it be possible to...
TURN-104: Whither Victory?! Judai VS Saiou
Judai summons his Glow Neos and destroys Light Barrier, waging a direct attack against the evil Saiou upon turning the tables. Driven into a dilemma, the evil Saiou tributes The Material Road, The Spiritual Road, and The Heavens Road to summon his ultimate card, Arcana Force Extra - The Light Ruler, using it to deal him an intense blow. For his part, Judai also has Gran Mole and Neos do a Contact Fusion and summons Gran Neos as he shifts into a counterattack, but...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A bit delayed due to some life stuff going on (like moving!), episodes 102-104 are now up and finalized as we make our way into the Season 2 finale!
that Saiou eyecatch is haunting my nightmares all over again
As this three-parter gets underway, we have the aftermath of Ed losing to Saiou as the Light within him decides to use him as leverage to get the second SOLA key from Judai; once he does and tries to get them for himself, Neos shows up to stop that, forcing him to duel Judai for them (I do like how, when Judai tells the Light he'll give up on his plans if Judai wins after he's given up his key, Saiou correctly notes, "The keys are already with me and you expect me to agree to your terms?" lol). This is one of my favorite duels because of how much it emphasizes Judai's attitude of "the future's not set, we change our fates with each card we draw!" that he first told Ed about in episode 53, along with the foreshadowing we get to the events of Season 3--and the huge literal shadow it puts into play. At the same time, we have GeneX finishing up as Rei makes her surprise comeback and duels Manjoume for the championship, and I like that it serves as good cutaway material from the Judai/Saiou duel, though I do wish we got to see more of Rei's deck (especially since, 17 years later, her Mystic cards have still not been printed). Ojama Yellow also gets to make the finishing blow, to the onlookers' chagrin, which is fun, and Saiou and Mizuchi get to satisfyingly reunite in the end which is cute.
Also, Kenzan's dino DNA helps him turn into a Space Saurus to help bust up SOLA--A+ content.
(Quick Translation Note: As Manjoume and his group approach the remaining Society of Light members, he's holding a Gunbai baton (the Gunbai being "a type of signal baton and Japanese war fan," per Wikipedia) with the Japanese text 一意専心 on it, translating to "with heart and soul." I translated it for the hardsub, as covered here, in the two scenes it appears in by applying the English text over the Japanese text in Photoshop--similar to the edit worked on by Kay for episode 9's "Fighting Spirit" banner. I was also inspired with "Whither Victory" for 104's title translation after looking at a Dragon Ball Kai title used for the dub that more concisely conveyed the "where is victory" idea in the JP title here.)
Animation error-wise, interesting mix here. I worked on about 30 of them altogether (a bit fewer than in 99-101), not counting the additional hardsub-only edits I made to translate the "With Heart and Soul" staff Manjoume carries for two clips in 102 or fix re-applications during the recaps; part of the delay with this was my moving and adjusting accordingly, as it took a few days before I could work on these fixes. About half of these were little quality-of-watching fixes, mostly split-screens but including fixing a stat-counter SFX error in 102, while the rest were mixes of incomplete-drawing errors, card errors, and card-related consistency errors--with a little "missing Burstlady shoulder strap" for good crowd-favorite measure. More in my separate post here with my usual fix/edit breakdown for the interested, due to Tumblr’s dumb link limit in posts yeeting them out of the tags used and limiting their reach, to give you a more visual element to it! (And had to split it in two again due to that) have I mentioned my love for this show is like an Ojama
Quick housekeeping: made a slight revision to 101 to update Saiou's line as he summons Light Ruler vs Ed for consistency with the tweak I made in 102. The 101 link in 99-101's release post now links to the re-uploaded version; I've updated its link in the Masterpost and will be posting the re-finalized hardsub/script/MKV on NAC soon as I post these.
Anywho, enjoy! Feels really good to get Season 2 taken care of, as that makes 104 episodes I've finalized my translations for; while I did like most of my last-go-around work on 102-104, it was good to make some updates to match my current style. With that, of course, comes a brief little Season-ending lull period; I'll be doing a little housekeeping to correct a few ending-credit typos in episodes 83 and 89, and a minor sub-styling correction in episode 81, which I'll post on NAC once done. After that, I'll putting in a little more work on a special project in progress that I'll hopefully post about soon over the next few weeks, along with work to prep for finalizing Season 3, including touching up my last textless edit for Teardrop V1 (which wasn't released officially textless and has Judai all sad with Johan, used from 105-112) and some work on some other side projects. All told, thinking I'll start small with work on 105 starting later this month, since a clip-show episode works well to come back with and all, lol; stay tuned!
For some reason my game just keep on loading and couldn't seem to continue to chapter 2? Or did the demo really ends at the first chapter for now? Also, i'm still a bit lost here, could you maybe tell us more about the alpha sigma beta omega thing? Maybe explain it? Also, what's the hierarchy?
Oh no the demo ends at chapter 1 and chapter 2 is currently work in progress. Its 3/4 done and I have to update the demo in October.
There isn't a clear cut hierarchy between the Metas since they have different strengths but personally I like the Betas most.
Here's the background.
Oh and I nearly forgot to mention. Metas stand for Meta humans.
Eighteen years ago, the Government had sponsored a series of projects based on bioweapons and structure enhancement. A certain doctor gave them the results and did the impossible. Dr Olivia Hartman was the head of project GENEX. She managed to create a new breed of super humans with different abilities based on a specific gene mutation. There are four variants:
Alpha: Enhanced muscle density and stamina. Alphas can perform feats of strength and touch speeds that normal humans can only dream of. However unlike the superheroes in comic books, they aren’t capable of lifting cars and outrunning lightning. They were built to be the next generation of soldiers with higher physical parameters. Alphas also show a faster rate of cell regeneration and healing. Alphas are the most common of Meta humans.
Omega: Omega’s are born with a more special set of gifts. Their senses of hearing, sight and smell are stronger than an ordinary human. Tests have proven that a grade four omega has a stronger sense of smell than a bloodhound. Omegas placed at grade seven and above are known to use echo location. Omegas are rarer and highly sought after in the investigations department.
Sigma: All sigma’s possess an IQ of above 160. Sigma’s are extremely rare and are considered to be the most powerful of all the Meta Humans. Sigma’s are capable of telekinesis and hypnosis, dangerous gifts that are extremely difficult to control. Most sigma’s are able to bypass the detection tests performed at birth as it’s a difficult code to map.
Betas: Oddly enough the term fails to describe the potential of their ability. Betas are the rarest of all Metas. They are so rare that their existence is considered to be a myth. The gene code is extremely hard to come across and near impossible to replicate successfully. Most Beta’s don’t make it past their early teens because they are farmed for their unmatchable abilities.
Hope this clears it up.
Over the Nexus Deck Profile: Genex
Tumblr media
"It is nearly impossible to build a Deck centering around "Genex" monsters since their effects have little to no relation to each other." ~ Yu-Gi-Oh! Fandom Wikia The Genex archetype is... to put it bluntly, more of a punchline than a deck. There are three different variations of it, all with different art direction and strategies, which CAN work together but are largely self-contained. The Genex monsters themselves are largely underwhelming and ineffective, though there are a few gems. Those gems, however, do not make a deck together, but instead are usable in other decks, with the notable example being Genex Ally Birdman. However, what if... we were to try anyway? This is my Genex deck, designed to emphasize the archetype as much as possible. This includes the extra deck; every single Synchro monster in there is a Genex monster, because if I played stuff like Red Dragon Archfiend, I'd basically never make the actual Genex Synchros. And if I'm not doing that, why bother playing a Genex deck to begin with? So, the monsters aren't very good, but what about the spells and traps? Well, they're the reason Genex is so bad. See, Konami making three different variations of the archetype was seemingly an alternate to doing what they do with literally every other archetype in the game, which is MAKING spells and traps for them. There is not a single spell or trap card for Genex monsters. None. So, this deck fills up on all of the staples, along with a favorite tech card of mine; Instant Fusion. Rather than relying solely on the clunky main deck Genex monsters, Instant Fusion gives us a toolbox of non-Tuner Synchro material we can use to access almost anything we want whenever we have the corresponding Tuner. Trouble is, most of the Synchros specifically require Genex Controller, which this deck can access easily, but if we have a Birdman instead our options become a little more limited. There are substitutes for Controller, but we can access the real deal often enough, and Birdman's effect is powerful enough to make it worth running despite its limitations. So, after a lot of testing, I came up with a build that's actually kind of... fun? There's some novelty in using these monsters, and hey, some of the Synchros are pretty decent. This deck is helpful for learning how to use those Synchros and how good they are, so you can slot them into other decks if they would be a good fit. Genex Ally Triforce is a good example, but I think Locomotion R-Genex and Vindikite R-Genex have potential too. The fundamental issue with these Synchros, though, is they're designed to work in both Genex decks, AND attribute-focused decks, but not at the same time. Look at Thermal Genex up there for example. The attack increase is unlikely to get very high in a Genex deck, while the burn effect is likely to be irrelevant in a FIRE deck, ironically enough. You may try to come up with some kind of hybrid deck that uses Genex monsters alongside an archetype of your chosen attribute to get the most out of one of these Synchros, but my brain isn't big enough to come up with something like that. Fun fact about the Extra Deck though, with my Instant Fusion strategy it includes exactly six terrible, obscure DM Fusion monsters, and nine Genex Synchro monsters. Oddly poetic! MONSTERS (20): Genex Controller x3 Caius the Shadow Monarch x3 Genex Ally Birdman x3 Genex Furnace x1 Genex Neutron x3 Genex Searcher x3 Genex Undine x3 Sangan x1 SPELLS (13): Dark Hole x1 Giant Trunade x1 Gold Sarcophagus x2 Instant Fusion x3 Limiter Removal x1 Mind Control x1 Monster Reborn x1 Mystical Space Typhoon x2 Swords of Revealing Light x1 TRAPS (7): Call of the Haunted x1 Dimensional Prison x3 Mirror Force x1 Solemn Judgment x1 Torrential Tribute x1 EXTRA DECK: Dragoness the Wicked Knight x1 Fusionist x1 Kaminari Attack x1 Karbonola Warrior x1 Mavelus x1 Vermillion Sparrow x1 Genex Ally Axel x1 Genex Ally Triarm x1 Genex Ally Triforce x1 Geo Genex x1 Hydro Genex 1 Locomotion R-Genex x1 Thermal Genex x1 Vindikite R-Genex x1 Windmill Genex x1
DMC/ Yu-Gi-Oh
This Party Is Getting Crazy!
Well this certainly one way too make Ash's 10th Birthday memorable…
Ash and many others of there Family were now lost after various rifts opened up and swallowed many of there family. Right now Ash and a few others managed too stick together but the others were lost and too make matters worse Ash had taken count of the damage too there deck and saw that they only had a few Monster Cards left which meant Ash could not call them too there current location.
The Cards that Ash had were the same as the other Duel Spirits that landed with Ash. Cooky Yummy ( Choco), Genex Controller ( Gizmo), Karakuri Bonze mdl 9763 "Kunamzan" ( Kuna), Junk Servant ( Gearz), and Wind-Up Magician ( I gave it some thought and decided on the name Tome instead, thank you for your help on the others), and the only Synchro Arms Of Genex Zero Return
These were the only Duel Spirits that were currently with Ash and it worried them too no end. Where were the others? Where they safe? Are they scared? Oh how could this happen?! Ash's friend and family were somewhere strange and have no idea how too get back home. A disaster…a complete and utter disaster.
Ash out of stress began too pet Choco's head too try and calm down and Choco feeling there friend's stress leaned in too snuggle against them. Gizmo was also leaning into Ash scarred of there family, the kid they helped raise since they were a baby suddenly disappearing. Ash thanked Choco and Gizmo for there comfort and decided that moping around would not help the current situation so everyone put there heads together and came up with a plan too start off with.
Everyone made there way too a secluded roof of a building too get a safe vantage point as Gearz and Kuna were analyzing the city for any signs of other Duel Spirits or even rifts. Tome and Ash meanwhile were working together too put together a communication Spell that could hopefully reach Ignis in the Spirit World. Gizmo was tapping into frequencies that were frequently used in the Spirit World too see if they could get a signal too get in touch with the Spirit World. Choco was emotional support. Which may not seem like much but the support was greatly appreciated from everyone especially when they brought snacks for everyone too munch on. Where did Choco keep them? In there hoodie of course, it seemed too hold a lot of things that you would not expect it too be able too.
After awhile everyone sat close too each other as they all sighed, nothing they tried seemed too work. At the rate this going it would seem the only viable option was too start searching on foot throughout the city for any signs of there missing family. Well no use complaining when they had too get started, the sooner the better. However just as Ash was going too have everyone return too there cards because having a walking cat in a cookie hoodie, 3 robotic beings walking around along with a living Toy in a magician's outfit was definitely not a good idea. However it seemed fate decided too give them a break as the ground beneath them began too shake and sound a loud crashing noise was heard. Everyone rushed over too the direction the noise came from as everyone stood there in shock as a tower began too rise from the ground. It kept on rising for what seemed like ages before finally stopping as the tallest point of the tower seemed too scratch the skies above.
Ash, Choco, Gearz, Gizmo, Tome, and Kuna all looked at each other and back at the tower.
Ya that would definitely be a good place too start.
Choco: I-is it just m-me or is this place f-freezing!
Choco said as they dived into Ash's backpack too try and block the wind chill this hallway seemed too be generating.
Gearz: My Temperature Sensors are picking up a drastic drop in the atmosphere. I advised we make haste through this area or there is a 37.2 Percent Chance of you catching a cold Ash as you have no protective clothing.
Ash: Ya it definitely got a lot more chilly hear, but don't worry about me Gearz. I will be fine as long as I keep moving.
Kuna: Young one, while it is admirable that you wish not too worry us. I implore you too speak if you are feeling any sort of ailment as I do with rest of you.
Ash: Thank you Kuna, I promise I will.
If anything else was going too be said they did not have the chance as Tome quickly spoke up.
Tome: Everyone come take a look at this!
Tome shouted out as they scouted ahead taking advantage of there small size too remain hidden. Everyone rushed forward only too stare at the room in wonder. The entire room was freezing, covered in ice, and the way forward seemed too be coated in a thick wall of ice.
Ash: Well this is a bit of a road bump but don't worry I have some Spells hear that should thaw out the wall.
As Ash began too look through there cards Gizmo stepped forward and scanned the wall of ice only too come too a startling discovery
Gizmo: Guys the wall of ice! Something is inside of it-
CRACK
Everyone's head snapped forward towards the ice wall as more fissure lines and cracks could be seen and heard.
Everyone: Uh Oh.
CRASH
As the ice wall fell down a three headed dog lunged forward and let out a roar as the chains snapped in place holding them back from fully lunging forward.
Cerberus: Who dares tries too enter this tower! Leave now Mortal and…wait…
Cerberus taking notice of the others beside Ash leaned down and began too sniff with all 3 of there heads and get a better look at them all.
Cerberus: What kind of begins are you? You all give off a strange scent and your magical foot print is completely different from Demon or Human. Even the young human here is coated in that aura that you all posses.
Cerberus stood back too full height before there voice boomed with authority
Cerberus: Human! Strange Beings! You stand before I! Cerberus! Guardian Of The Gates Of The Temen-Ni-Gru! State who you are and why you stand before these gates!
Ash: Well I am Ash! And these are my Family!
Ash pointed and introduced each one as they each gave a greeting too Cerberus when introduced. Ash than explained too Cerberus on why they were here. Cerberus was in deep thought after the explanation was given too them by Ash and the others. Ash and there familiars or Duel Spirits as they called them were hear looking for there family which they had been separated from. They all had a pretty good idea that they could possibly be in the Tower and wanted too go search. Cerberus knew for a fact that they weren't lying too him as he had a knack for knowing when someone was trying too pull a fast one on him. Call it a six sense if you will.
Cerberus: Young Spirit Caller! I understand your plight and sympathize with you, however my orders are clear! My Master, Sparda has placed me as this Gates Guard and forbids me from letting anyone pass onto these grounds. Under any other circumstance I would have let you pass. I am most sorry however if you wish too pass than you must defeat me in battle.
Cerberus got into a stance before letting out roar.
Cerberus: PREPARE YOURSLF!!!
Ash and the others immediately scrambled too get ready! Ash got on there robe and staff, Kuna got there Khakkhara ready, Tome readied there wand, Gearz got into a fighting stance while Choco and Gizmo went safely over too the side so as too not worry the others.
And with that all set Ash wielding there staff and Cards charged forward with Kuna, Gearz, and Tome.
meanwhile outside the Chamber a guy who was 18 years old wearing a red coat, wielding 2 guns and a broad sword and had distinctive white hair walked forward in the same hall Ash and the others just walked through. As the moved forward the heard the clash and shouts of battle as they rushed forward too see what kind of party was going on with him there.
Note: The Start of a grand time traveling adventure begins here. Who knows what will change with the inclusion of our scattered heroes.
Looks like Dante is about to arrive on the scene. Can only imagine his confusion if the first thing he sees is a cat in a cookie outfit and a strange robot before noticing the fight. Ash completely understands that Cerberus has a job to do, especially from how loyal he is to this Sparda. The best the group can do was prove themselves worthy of entry.
Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters GX Episode 84 Subbed (Finalized)
(Previously: Episodes 82-83 Subbed [Finalized])
(Check out my Subbed!GX Stream Masterpost!)
TURN-84: The Curtain Rises on GeneX! Aim for Number One!
Principal Samejima declares the start of a Dueling World Cup*, a large dueling tournament in which Academia Island serves as the stage for the students and Pro Duelists participating.  Saiou duels a celebrity from a powerful country in Europe, Prince Ojin, who boasts of victory through a One-Turn Kill, and Saiou himself predicts that the duel will end before his turn arrives.  The ATK of the Prince's Satellite Cannon becomes 4000, and it begins an attack aimed at Saiou...
*"Dueling World Cup" is how the GeneX Tournament seems to have been described in the pre-airing episode summary for this episode.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, then...
After a few unintended hiccups and the resulting recovery--as previously mentioned--episode 84 has finally been finalized! I guess if there's ever a better time for one to experience hard drive issues, it'd be right as we kick off an obligatory tournament arc, haha.  Principal Samejima, after his duel with Ryou last time, returns to the Duel Academia to announce the start of the GeneX Tournament--one which he's spent months traveling abroad to organize and bring in some heavy-hitting talent for.  As things kick off, Saiou engages one of those heavy hitters, a prince from a small European country, for a duel to win control of the SOLA laser satellite they've launched--one with the power to brainwash wipe out all life on Earth.  It's a good transition episode, setting up GeneX's rules and also a key factor in Season 2's endgame through the introduction of Ojin and SOLA, while giving Shou, Kenzan, and newly-White Misawa some dueling time.  We'll see that, at some points, it kinda feels like GeneX is on the backburner, but it's a good backdrop for a few things that'll happen in this part of the season.
Part of the delay with this one, the aforementioned hiccups aside (which mostly covered October), was handling a few animation and card fixes for this episode; one in particular was a pretty complex one to work on but still came out well.  Details below the cut, as usual, for the curious!
Enjoy, and hope those celebrating enjoyed their time with friends/family this Thanksgiving! Next up, I think I'll be going back to double releases to make up for some lost time, so 85 and 86'll be on the way after a short little break the next couple days, though I did begin some work on them already over the last few weeks. (Doing just 84 and then more doubles works nicely, since there are a few two-parters coming up that I'll be able to get out this way.) Stay tuned!
Fixes/Edits!
For the hardsub: as Napoleon runs to warn Chronos of Samejima's arrival, we see the "Interim Principal" placard on his desk that we see in the 99% OP; I had wanted to translate it by first blanking the placard in Photoshop and then copying the text layer from my edit in the OP, but due to those drive issues, I lost my original PSD files for those edits.  As a result, I translated it here by first blanking the placard, then copy/pasting the text from the finished edit and editing it to be transparent by removing the lighter-gray coloring behind it so that I could slap it onto this placard, and then adjusting for perspective.  Think it came out well given the circumstances!
One fix I did want to do but was unable to happens near the end of Samejima's GeneX announcement.  After he tells the students to work hard so that the eventual winner is one of them, he adjusts his head as he mentions that there's a very special prize that isn't a Mrs. Tome kiss for the winner, but for two of the first three frames as he does so, the front of his face doesn't move with the rest of his head, causing it to jut out a little (you can tell this where there's a duplication of his goatee's beard and a slight gap in the face outline on his left).  The third frame has his face set properly, but because there isn't a subsequent frame of his head in that correct position with the same lip/beard-flap before his head moves again, I wouldn't have been able to correctly reposition his face (usually in these cases, there'd be the initial glitched frame or two before things are then normal which I can work with, but his head movement here continues the frame after it fixes), so I scrapped this one.
As we see Prince Ojin in conversation with his assistant Lind, upon being told that GeneX's competitors likely won't pose a threat to him, Ojin says he'll bury them with his One-Turn Kill.  He then turns to face a suitcase on a desk nearby, but as he moves his head to face it, the collar of his jacket is effectively duplicated--one is the collar in its initial position earlier in the shot, which is stuck there as the other moves along with Ojin's head.  As mentioned here, I removed the initial collar using Photoshop for the four frames involved, then mixed the fixes into the video in Sony Vegas, applying a light feathered mask on the fixes to blend it in consistently.
After seeing Shou and Kenzan win their first GeneX duels, we turn to see newly-White Misawa facing a Blue named Takeda (as JP Wikipedia helpfully noted), but as we do, the Little Chimera that Takeda has out in Defense Mode has the card under it reversed (with the effect box facing us/Takeda's right when it should be the name box facing that way, as we see in the very next shot).  This was the more complex fix to make, as I also had the Burning Blood/Molten Destruction card sliding in over it; as this error happens again in a bit, I used that instance of it to help here since it was recycled footage (just positioned slightly differently vertically).  I first worked to "blank" the footage in Sony Vegas, using both instances of this error to redo the fade from the sunny White dorm scenery to the Burning Blood-affected field, as then I could redo the Burning Blood card’s semi-opaque slide-in over my eventual fix to Little Chimera, and I masked in parts of the original footage (Takeda and Misawa himself and his field) over the later footage (which had Takeda collapsing as he lost and Eitom on Misawa's field).  Once that was done, I threw it into AfterEffects and applied my Little Chimera proxy facing correctly first (while masking in Chimera's little feets), onto one frame which I then repanned in Vegas for the beginning bit of the shot then held in place for the rest of it--once this was done, I went into AE again and this time applied the Burning Blood proxy slide-in, adjusting the opacity to match the original and keyframing its positioning along to the original.  All told, came out nicely, but especially the "blanking" part took a bit, lol.
Immediately after #4, we see the Familiar Possessed -- Hiita on Takeda’s field, with an ATK of... 1840? It’s actually supposed to be 1850 (the dub kept this error, too).  Fixed it in Sony Vegas by using the later DEF/ 550 counter for Little Chimera; I repositioned it over Hiita’s ATK counter and just masked out the second 5 over the 4 in “1840.″ I did cut away from that just as that “4″ started moving in the counter--the “1840″ digits were increasing while the “550″ ones were going to decrease--so there’s a quick frame or two where that third digit goes 5->4->5, but it’s not too noticeable in motion. (While covering this, Yugipedia also mentions that Hiita’s ATK should only rise by 500 due to Little Chimera’s effect, but when accounting for Burning Blood’s effect, that’s how it gets to 2850.)
After Misawa summons Litmus Death Swordsman, Takeda notes that, though he has more ATK than his Hiita, he still can't defeat her--but as he does, we see that there's a yellow rectangle where Little Chimera would be on his Disk.  Fixed in AfterEffects by applying my Little Chimera proxy again; I first put it on one of the later frames in the shot where it's mostly visible as it fades into the zoomed-out shot, then worked backwards to reposition it as the shot pans down the card.
After Misawa's Eitom attacks Takeda directly for game, he collapses as the Solid Vision from their duel fades out--but as mentioned with #4, that error with Little Chimera's Defense-Mode card being reversed also occurs here.  It was a sorta similar process to fix: first, I applied the Little Chimera proxy in AfterEffects, then in Sony Vegas, I redid the Solid Vision fade-out so that the proxy faded out properly along with Little Chimera.
Later, as Saiou and Ojin are about to begin their duel, Saiou says on a split-screen that he'd like to assess the Prince's power; one affirmative nod from Ojin later, the split-screen splits as they shout, "Duel!" But in a quick frame during that split-screen's slide-out, Ojin's side is missing a border along its edge.  I fixed this in Vegas by just masking out a border from their split-screen and positioning it along the edge.
After Saiou thwarts Ojin's One-Turn Kill, he summons Satellite Base in Defense Mode, but the card on his Disk is laid reversed (as the next shot would show it correctly placed with the name box on his right).  I fixed this by first applying a proxy to his Disk in AfterEffects, while also masking his hand in on top as he swings it over the card, then threw that into Vegas, where I redid the zoom-out that happens as Satellite Base is summoned to keep the card looking consistent during it.

[fanfic] One More Time
One more time. Again. Samejima sat back in his chair and observed the monitor that showed the practical exams. The exams that he’d seen so many times and could practically recite how they would go from memory. Faces that were familiar to him – but they would not have recognized him - showed, along with the varied fates they’d endured.
So, so many of them fallen to the Light, far too many times. Should they survive that, then other fates awaited them. Dead of starvation and thirsts in a world of sand. Captured by spirits and worked to death or worse – and he knew very well how much worse it could get.
He’d seen it all, so many times. He’d lost count of how many times he’d watched the world burn or fall to darkness – that hideous wrong darkness, not the one that he knew could save them all, if only matter turned out right this time.
Where was he? Was he going to show up this time?
Samejima hadn’t forgotten the thousand or so timelines where Yuuki Juudai never came to Duel Academia and they’d never managed to get through the Seven Stars. In a tiny handful of those, someone managed to face Kagemaru – he could not forget the one timeline he’d thought would work out when Johan Andersen came to his school instead. That had been amazing but for all of his skills, Johan couldn’t manage what needed to be done on his own.
He’d truly hoped then. Johan had a way of sparking that in people. But that timeline convinced him of one thing – that Yuuki Juudai was who they needed.
So he’d done his best. Everything always cycled back to when he was a young man, before Duel Monsters itself ever exited. He fought timeline after timeline to make certain that Yuuki Juudai came to Duel Academia and he tried so very hard to make certain that Marufuji Ryou learned the right things about respect. He’d managed to get good at the first one, connecting to the boy’s parents and suggesting that he attend the school.
Sometimes he wondered if they knew what was going on as well. It was easier sometimes than others to convince them. One time they’d practically packed up and left Japan, making certain that Juudai went with them. Samejima hadn’t heard about them after that, and in that timeline, everything fell to light so much sooner.
When he thought about it, he wondered if he had heard about Juudai. Because the harbinger of the Light in that timeline hadn’t been Saiou Takuma.
Making sure Ryou knew about respect had differing results. It seemed that being Hell Kaiser was integral to Marufuji Ryou’s proper timeline, for reasons that Samejima couldn’t properly understand. So he stopped trying to stop that.
As the timelines ticked by, he got very used to pretending that he didn’t know what was going to happen. He had more than enough experience to be able to fake it all, and sometimes he got surprised anyway. He couldn’t control every outcome – he really only had influence on events that happened at Duel Academia and a little at the Cyber Dojo – and often things happened that were outside of his sphere of influence.
Such as the time when the plane bringing the new students over had suffered engine failure and fell into the ocean, resulting in the death of everyone on it. That had not been a fun timeline. In fact, most of them weren’t. Something always went wrong along the way. Something always failed and he searched over and over for what he could do to stop it.
He’d made a list of everything he could remember. He kept the list where only he could access it – he’d never seen any solid proof that anyone else remembered the way time looped back on itself. It started when he was a young man and always, always ended the night of graduation – if they even survived that long.
He was always one of the last to die. He didn’t know why. He’d learned a great deal but not who started him on this loop or why. He suspected that he would have several words for them if he ever learned.
For now he watched as the students went through their exams. Marufuji Shou just managed to squeak through – Samejima hopped matters would work out better for him than in the last timeline, when he’d been converted to the Society of Light and ended up – well, he wasn’t going to think about that.
It would hurt to see Marufuji Ryou become Hell Kaiser once again. Perhaps this time he would survive the heart surgeries and go on to a life of some sort. So far no timeline had gone on long enough for him to have an idea of what might happen to him after his brother’s graduation.
He also wondered what fate had in store for Misawa Daichi. He’d tried a few time to get the boy upgraded to Obelisk Blue, but those timelines always failed for reasons unknown. The most successful ones he’d seen were where he stayed in the other world to be with Taniya. Perhaps that would be best for him.
Samejima tried very hard not to get nervous as the time clicked closer to the end, and there still wasn’t a sign of Yuuki Juudai. He didn’t want to see another one of those timelines where something interrupted him before he arrived – there had also been too many of those. Once he’d seen a timeline where the treatments to block his memory of Yubel ended up being fatal…
Then Juudai raced inside, a bit unkempt, but there. Samejima forced himself not to sigh in relief. No one would hear him here in his office but he preferred not to take chances. Not now.
He’d seen Juudai defeat Chronos so many times. A tiny part of him anticipated it again – Chronos needed this loss.
Here they started, one more time.
The End
Notes: I like Samejima. I had this idea ages ago, where he was caught up in a timeloop and the things that are often claimed as “bad decisions” are the result of him knowing the “smart decision” would make things actually worse. Doesn’t invite Orgene to Genex? Ok, Saiou just goes to Misgarth directly and Juudai’s not there to stop him. World burns. I could go on.
