demon slayer hcs: motherly hashira!reader x the hashira pt 2
characters: fem!reader x muichiro, sanemi, mitsuri, obanai
AN: this is a pt 2 for the request from @danielle-marie
READ THE FIRST PART HERE
Tumblr media
MUICHIRO
I LOVE THIS BABY SM U DONT UNDERSTAND
he's the hashira that ur most comfortable around
he was a hashira before u
but u get promoted and its an instinct
child.
must protect.
at first he probably gets annoyed by you
he's not used to someone caring for him the way that u do
but then one day ur sent on a long mission
maybe a few weeks long
and he finds himself missing something
of course he has no idea what it is that he's missing something
he completely forgot about u
but when you get back to the butterfly estate and he sees u
it clicks
he remembers
he missed you
he missed your overprotective nature
he missed your soft caring voice
he missed the way that you brush and style his hair
he REALLY missed that ^
walks up to u, grabs ur hand and tugs u away
doesn't care if you were talking to someone
and doesn't say a word
brings you to his favorite cloud watching spot with a tight grip on your hand
makes you sit down
and lays his head in ur lap
stop im squealing and kicking my feet from the cuteness
Tumblr media
SANEMI
my guyyyyyy
have i ever told yall that i love him?
only in every single thing i post
anyways
he HATES you at first
lmfao rip u
your shy and quiet nature reminds him of giyuu
and if theres one person sanemi can't stand
its giyuu
therefore he don't fw u
and doesn't pay u much attention
UNTILLLLL
he witnesses u pulling genya by the ear to the infirmary after a mission
and telling genya tf off for pulling som stupid shit during the mission
+100 respect right there
not only are u actually talking
but ur screaming??
at his brother??
and taking care of him at the same time?????
my guy is lucky if he doesn't pop a boner right there lmfaooo
starts paying more attention to u after that
and is noticeably a lot nicer and calmer around you
will blush beet red and deny tf out of it if the other hashira comment abt his change of heart
but def develops a soft spot for u
Tumblr media
MITSURI
SWEETEST HUMAN BEING TO EVER EXIST EVER
she loves u
ofc she does she's the love hashira
but in mitsuri's mind how could she not absolutely ADORE u
not only are you breathtakingly beautiful in her eyes
but she sees the way u interact with the younger slayers
how u genuinely care for everyone's wellbeing
if she wasn't looking for a husband she would wife u tf UP
she still might lol
mitsuri is gonna go out of her way to become friends with you
she's inviting u to her estate for girl's night with shinobu
she's dragging u along to her favorite restaurant for lunch
she's inviting u to join her at the hot springs to relax
she really enjoys ur presence
even if ur shy she thinks ur very soothing to be around
she loves when you do her hair!!
and when u cook for her??
mitsuri alrdy eats a lot
but if u made the food for her??
girl is not letting a CRUMB go to waste
loves the way u take care of everyone
especially when u take care of her
10/10 would recommend a mitsuri
Tumblr media
OBANAI
someone pls love this man
he needs it so bad
so dude had SHIT parents
like bad bad
so when he sees ur interactions with the younger slayers he's prob a lil put off at first
like ma'am?
this is the demon slayer corps??
we don't have time for all ur mothering and coddling
but then he's injured on a mission
and waiting in the infirmary for shinobu to show up and patch him up
and then u bust through the doors???
confused asf
shinobu is on a mission and you've been helping out in the infirmary
so looks like ur the one taking care of him today
and turns out his injury is bad enough to land him an extended stay in his lil hospital bed
and after a few days of u taking care of him
with ur red face and soft stuttered words
he learns that you're not so bad
and he actually enjoys being around you
and being taken care of
won't voice this tho
but when Aoi comes in to give him his meds one day he gives himself away by accident
with a
"where's y/n?"
he's a blushing grumbling mess after that lol
after he discharged best believe the next time he gets injured he's not even going to the infirmary
he's hunting u tf down
nobody else gets to take care of him except YOU
and thats period.

"With the children away for the weekend, what do you guys have planned?” Makio was swaddled with your baby, 11 months old and so big already, she could easily be mistaken for much older than she is. She was like her daddy, big, smart, and sweet. Harumi had been visiting the Uzui’s on the weekends for the past month giving you and Gyomei a break but also preparing them for the arrival of their own bundle of joy in the coming months. Of course, you had spent weekends as a family with them but then it was suggested that she stay by herself. You compromised with all three of the kids staying with the Uzui’s that way at least Muichiro and Genya knew their sister and could help.
“I don’t think we are doing anything special, a night in, maybe we will get a full night of sleep” Gyomei laughed from the doorway where he was talking with Tengen, the boys crowding him as he talked of their weekend plans. Makio squinted, rolling her eyes before turning back to you. “How is Hinatsuru? Has the tea been helping ease her stomach? It was heaven sent for me, Shinobu had trained Aoi so well” Makio nodded, bouncing slightly as Harumi stirred from where she rested.
“She is doing much better, eating a lot more which we are grateful for. She had us all worried. But she is well, excited to see Harumi, I think the maternal instincts are already kicked in because she hasn’t stopped talking about Harumi since she left last weekend” You nodded, understanding the feeling, throughout your pregnancy just seeing babies made you want to cry from happiness, some mothers would even come chat when they noticed your heavy stomach, letting you gush over their baby.
“Yeah, but Harumi is also the sweetest girl, so patient and she loves her brothers so she’s happy when they are around” Harumi’s head lifted at the mention of her brothers. “You should head home before she falls asleep, she sleeps like her father at night and Hinatsuru may not get to play with her” You urged the Uzui wife back towards the door, Tengen noticing the movement moved to let Makio pass.
“That’s our cue then, we will see you all in 3 days, have a good night, and try not to have too much fun!” Tengen winked before turning to follow his wife, your sons leaving with a wave and a few air kisses before following as well, a row of little ducklings.
As the door slid shut your husband turned to you.
“Come on, I have something for you” He was rocky, still settling into the prosthetic leg, it made him sway a lot when he walked but he no longer had to hold onto your shoulder, he could walk just by holding your hand which was an improvement. He was still hesitant about holding Harumi while standing but that would happen with time, just had to be patient.
“You’ve been so patient with us, every single one of us, from the boys to Harumi, and to me. Since the fall of the demons almost 2 years ago you’ve been so attentive and working nonstop, making sure everyone is comfortable and happy, you’ve kept everyone fed and bathed. You even changed our bandages and helped us bathe, which is no small feat. You did so much and I just wanted you to know how grateful I am, and how grateful the boys are to have you, to call you my wife, to call you a mother. I am so happy to be here with you, to have been given the chance to stay on this planet with you and live happily.” He paused his speech as you got to the backyard, lit with lanterns and decorated with flowers. There was a large blanket in the middle of the yard, filled with pillows to create what looked like the coziest bed ever. Sitting next to the bed was a tray lined with snacks and wine alongside 2 glasses.
“What is all this? When did you do all this?” You turned towards your husband of 5 years someone who you had watched grow into the beast of a man before you today, so gentle and loving and at the same time he held power you couldn’t even imagine carrying after knowing him for 8 years he still gave you butterflies.
“Had some help, you are quite oblivious when you are with Harumi so it was easy, she loves her mama just as much as I do. You are an amazing woman and I’m so honored and blessed to call you my wife.” Your eyes watered at the thought behind this surprise and his sweet words, you hadn’t put thought into the things you did, there was a house to run and a family to take care of after they literally saved the world, the least you could do is take care and help them, it was almost natural, you had been taking care of Gyomei’s injuries since you had first met in the wisteria house your family-owned, although it was closed now, once again it was just a home but more than welcome to those who were former corps members.
“I don’t know what to say” his hands moved to your back, gently guiding you towards the bed, the warmth from the overwhelming amount of candles provided such comfort that it didn’t take long for your muscles to relax as you sunk into the cushions and pillows.
“you don’t need to say anything, just relax, enjoy your night” There was a soft smile on Gyomeis face as he sat down, stretching his legs. “c’mere let me hold you” his words were quiet, like a whisper to draw you into his space, you didn’t hesitate before moving between his legs, letting your back rest against his chest while he wrapped you in his arms, letting his hands rest on your thighs. You both sat in silence, enjoying the clear night with the stars shining so bright you could probably see without the candles, but they provided extra comfort to your night. It was nice having a night with just the two of you, it was something that you hadn’t experienced in years. Between them fighting Muzan and having to relearn how to live normally, to giving birth to your daughter there was always a full house. Now they were able to leave, more than ready to get out of the house and spend time with their friends and family. It was something you weren’t quite ready for. Large hands were wiping away tears before you could realize you were crying.
“What ails you? What can I do?” Gyomei was soft as he addressed you, still holding your cheek as you relaxed back into him.
“They are all leaving, they can leave us now” you sniffled, turning around to face your husband, sitting on your knees. “Gyomei, the boys are gonna get married and leave” Deep down you knew it was ridiculous to think that they would suddenly leave, they were only 17 but you were dating Gyomei at 19 and he was 22, they could leave at any age. Gyomei smiled, his clouded eyes flickering about.
“Let’s slow down, no one is going anywhere. They are spending the weekend with the Uzui’s, and no one is getting married anytime soon unless we marry them off. Lay back, listen to that quiet, no kids, no screaming or fighting, no crying. Tranquility. S nice isn’t it?” You sat back, taking Gyomei’s advice and listening to the world around you. “What do you hear?” you listened close, relaxing into the embrace of your beloved and closing your eyes to truly listen.
“I hear the trees as they shake.”
“Mhm”
“I hear The birds sing their young to sleep. It sounds like they are getting tired” You were focusing, you swear you were, but his hands were distracting, wandering from your hips. His touch started slow, just rubbing your sides like he did when you wanted to relax, but then they started to move inwards, resting on your stomach and moving up.
“What else do you hear” His voice was low like he was telling you something you were allowed to hear, trying to hide it from the world.
“um…” You couldn’t focus on the sounds, not when he cupped one of your breasts, applying pressure as he leaned into your neck, wet kisses trailing from your jaw to your collarbone.
“focus, what’s going on?” The tone of his voice was a warning, a baritone hum as he continued his ministrations, biting into the skin of your neck as you leaned to the side, giving him more access.
“Frogs” is all you got out, moaning as one hand undid the ties to your clothing and the other continued to fondle you.
“good girl, what else” He paused, leaning back to watch each inch of your kimono fall off your shoulders and reveal your skin.
“I-“ a moan interrupted you as both his hands went to work, pinching the nipple of one breast while massaging the other. His lips still danced along your skin, slowly compared to his rough hands. “The river” He hummed into your skin, encouragement to continue as he worked like he was tuning a violin, plucking the strings of your pleasure until he had it just right. “You” Your answer was met with his hands removing themselves from your body, his mouth detaching itself from your skin. You sat up, turning to look at your husband.
“Yeah? What do I sound like?” His disheveled hair and lack of prayer beads had him looking almost feral, his hooded gaze staring down at you as he crawled over you, moving you until your back hit the ground, looking up at him. Your answer never came as he engulfed you in a kiss, claiming your lips as his own. You couldn’t stop the moan that erupted as one of his hands found purchase on your hip, pulling the band of your panties until they snapped back at your skin. Your tongue grazed his lip, asking for more, and was met with a hasty reply. Your mouths danced so familiarly with one another, like every movement of the other's tongue was rehearsed, practiced an infinite number of times over, each clash of teeth and head tilt a piece of intricate choreography. Gyomei pulled back gasping, head tilting towards your ear.
“You know what I want?” He hummed pressing a kiss to your collar, lips wet with your shared saliva. You made a noise of acknowledgment, too high-strung by his constant touches everywhere but where you wanted. You're sure if you looked down you would see your panties soaked through, uncomfortably damp but you couldn’t care less. “I want to be the one to listen to the pretty noises you make when you cum on my tongue” Your breath hitched as he placed another kiss on the slope of your breast, moving his way down your body, with teasing touches and wet kisses. “Okay?” He continued his path down your body, nipping at your hip bone, tracing the soft skin of your stomach as he nosed at your panties.
“Yes sir”
“Good girl” His praise was accompanied by his tongue, licking at the wet patch that had stained your panties. He was never a patient man when it came to pleasure, you had grown used to it, he knew what he wanted and he wasn’t afraid to take it if you let him, and who were you to deny your husband of such pleasures? He pulled aside your panties, not bothering to slide them off your hips, just revealing the glistening beauty of your pussy. The groan he let out was pure sin like a predator warning its prey before it eats them. Which is what he planned on doing. Gyomei didn’t waste time, diving into the heat of your pussy. His tongue flicked at your throbbing clit, teasing and divine. He went from flicking to sucking, not wasting a breath between both, switching the rhythm to keep you on edge. You reached down, hoping to hold onto him as grounding, afraid you would float away in the thralls of pleasure.
“Mei, please don’t stop” You moaned a symphony for him, following the beat of his tongue. 2 fingers pushed their way into your heat, thick and practiced it was almost too natural for him to do it, like he was using the hand to tighten the ropes of your pleasure, cranking at them in hopes they would break. He hummed into you, enjoying his meal thoroughly, eyes closed like he was lost in his own heaven and that ad you clenching, teetering on the edge of orgasm thinking he was enjoying this as much as you. By the way you could make out the subtle shift of his hips against the ground, you had no doubts he was. His fingers curled upwards, thrusting in at a speed faster than his tongue. You fell, the pleasure quickly overwhelming your body jolted, trying to breathe through the pleasure. You saw stars, eyes rolling back for a few seconds as his ministrations continued, not wanting to slow and end his own pleasure. Another groan resonated through your core that had you yelping, an unfamiliar swirl in your stomach itching forward.
“C’mon baby” He moaned again, begging for your body, and his hand continued it work, mouth quickly attaching back to your overly sensitive bud. A second orgasm came crashing down on you, a litany of explants leaving your mouth as you released all pent-up energy, coating your husband's face in a stream of pleasure. He lapped eagerly at your sex, not wasting a drop of you, pulling his fingers out and licking them clean as well while you tried to come back to earth, breathing heavily and holding weakly to the and that still held your panties to the side. Gyomei sat on his heels, rubbing at your tighs while you tried to get ahold of yourself.
“You did so good mama’s, so good for me, huh?” His tone was encouraging. He was careful as he moved your legs together, giving him room to lay next to you, a space heater for your bare body, still recovering. You looked at him through lidded eyes, a sleepy smile gracing your lips.
“Gyomei,” You whispered, still breathless. He smiled, pulling you into his chest so you could snuggle in, using your kimono as a blanket to cover you and keep you warm.
“I’m here” He pressed a kiss to your head, damp, but you didn’t care.
“Thank you” He hummed, knowing that this was just the beginning of a long night.

You had woken up surrounded by warmth.
Warmth and the sweet sound of a distant bird chirping. It stirred you into doing what you usually did in the mornings. Yawn and stretch out your arms-
"Careful! You nearly poked me in the eye."
WHAT-?!
Your eyes popped open and you squealed finding a pair of red eyes just inches away from your face. Out of instinct you squealed out again and scrambled back away from the sudden half asleep face of Kyojuro only to slip over Makio's giant golden tail and fall over onto your back.
...Well if everyone wasn't awake before they certainly were now.
"Oh my goodness!" Hinatsuru's concerned face immediately peeked over Makio's tail and looked down at you. "Y/n, are you alright?"
A second later Rengoku perked up beside her rubbing his eyes and yawning. Suma jolted awake with a loud snort somewhere behind everyone as they all looked down at you. You groaned a hand reaching out to rub your head and slowly allowing yourself to take in what had just happened. Slowly you removed your head and looked down at your legs still half over Makio's tail. The three of them stared back at you with Suma just now sticking her head out from behind Kyojuro with the wildest bed head. You stared...until suddenly all the events of last night really kicked you good and hard in the head like grass suddenly getting squished under a falling tree. Akira. Kyojuro. KISSING!! The girls. Wife mentioned. KISSING!! You waking up in the middle of the night in Kyojuro's arms.
K I S S I N G!!!
Your face went beat red and everyone was startled as you suddenly pulled off of Makio only to shoot up to your feet. A hand slapping over your mouth. That it-....IT ALL MUST'VE BEEN A DREAM!! YEAH!! THAT'S IT!! You were so overwhelmed by Akira showing up that you fainted, had a crazy dream, and woke up here because your friends were worried about you! Yeah! That's it! That must've been it! It was just a giant weird nightmare dream thing. You sighed somewhat even if you didn't really feel relieved.
"Honey? Are you alright?," Kyojuro asked concerning scrunching up his brows.
"I-I'm fine," you shakily said quickly fixing your dress, "I just had t-the craziest dream with-.." You paused. Blinking before you slowly turned to look at them again. "..Did you just call me honey?"
"Do you prefer sweetheart? I'm sadly not too familiar with human nicknames for married couples but-"
"WHOA, WHOA, WHOA!! WAIT A SECOND!" You quickly held up your hands to the four of them with Suma rubbing her face and yawning widely. "Who said anything about us being married?! I thought you were only pretending to scare Akira off!"
As if they all were confused, the girls looked at one another in question, shrugged, and then all three looked at Rengoku as the defacto leader of their small pile. Sensing their want, Kyojuro took the lead as he should in Tengen's place and nodded.
"That's true. I was pretending to be your spouse in order to protect us all," he happily nodded with a large grin, "But then I proposed to you! You've been recuperating everything up to this point, it was only natural for us to take it to the next level!"
"But you've already accepted," he said confused gesturing to your hand.
Automatically you went to glance at your hand and to your horror found a shiny golden band around your ring finger and on the very front was a big green gem. Maybe an emerald? A pit immediately sunk into the bottom of your stomach as you stared wide eyed. Oh no. No no no no. That wasn't a dream?! This wasn't good! You didn't want to have this!
"I-.. You-.." You stuttered looking between their confused but happy faces to your hand a wave of emotions hitting you. Shock, fear, confusion, hesitation..but also strangely enough some flattery and intrigue under all of the big ones- You shook your head gaining a stern look. "Look. While I'm..." Flattered? Totally shocked? "..Humbled you all would find me attractive enough to want me to be your wife-" You settled on trying to be nice while also raising a hand. "-I can't be anymore than friends to you."
"WHAT?!," Suma wailed loud enough to make the rest of you wince, pushing herself higher by pushing up on Kyojuro's shoulders. He didn't seem to mind however and didn't seem phased at all by his wife's antics. "WHY NOT?! WE LIKE YOU AND YOU LIKE US!!"
"Not in a romantic sense! A-And on top of that we aren't even married! There's been no ceremony, no witnesses, and certainly no priest I know would officiate this-" And it was then that you had gotten an idea when you spotted the strand of rocks sewn into Rengoku's blonde hair. "Not to mention that you four are already married to Tengen! Remember?"
A silence was had between the four of them as they stopped where they sat, and then looked at one another. The elephant in the room being once again being addressed. You didn't forget about the obvious. Tengen was the entire reason they wanted to go back to the ocean
"You have someone to go back to. Someone who loves you and cares about you so much that he's willing to destroy an entire town for you all."
You jumped as something calloused and firm grabbed your hand. The much larger hand of Kyojuro enveloped yours. F/c eyes looked up into deep red ones. The look they gave you was a deep longing. Nothing like the looks that other men gave you.
"Neither do you. There's practically nothing here for you either is there? You said so yourself that there's not really much here."
"... Because the actions of selfish people and your Tengen are taking everything."
In a matter of seconds his face dropped and eyes widened. "W-What?"
The smaller hand in his pulled away from him as her face fell. "You all were brought here by force, I get that and I don't blame any of you for that. But whoever this Tengen is is causing a lot of innocent people their lives. He's drowned people, drive tens of others away from here, and he's making it harder and harder for the people who're still here. And on top of it all I can't in good conscious involve myself where it'll probably only cause more trouble than I'm worth. " The coldness was felt when she pulled off the pretty ring and pushed it back into his hands. "Here. Take this back and save it for someone special you really want."
The look he gave you followed by the looks of the others hurt a lot but...this was for the best. You couldn't live in the ocean with them and they just couldn't live the rest of their lives in a bathroom forever with the danger of being found out hanging over their heads everyday. No. You had to do what was best for everyone.
"You four must be hungry." You finally broke the silence and turned. "There's some eggs and a head of lettuce left. I'll make you something for breakfast and recheck Kyojuro's wounds before I leave for work."
By now his smaller wounds were all gone. His bigger wounds were nothing but surface cuts that would be nothing but maybe scars soon. The girls were all back at a healthy weight, and they didn't have any wounds that'd make it dangerous for them all to make the two week journey...It was decided then. As soon as you could get a horse and wagon, you'd take them all back. Even if you were unprepared, you couldn't delay it any longer. For everyone's best interest. As you left the room Rengoku was left staring so so confused at the ring. Why did she reject it after accepting their courtship? Was the ring not in her tastes? Did she not want him? Maybe she wasn't ready to be married yet? His thoughts stopped when Suma still hanging onto his shoulders hugged him tightly.
"Don't worry. She's probably just unsure because she hasn't met Tengen yet!"
"Yes! That's right! She wants to meet Tengen first!," Hinatsuru agreed smiling, "After all it wouldn't be fair unless he also met her! Don't worry!"
"... You're probably right." His hand closed back around the ring with a smile. "It's not fair for us to make a choice on their behalf! We shall wait until after they meet!"
You're head was filled with worries. Too many different thoughts buzzing around to really focus on one thing at a time. You made them something quick for breakfast and left them enough food for lunch to tied them over until you could bring them dinner...Which was impossible now because the entire butcher shop closed down three days ago when a quarter of the town packed up and left abandoning their homes and leaving for farther away towns or the city nearby. Even now as you walked along the road and looked upon the houses it was like you were walking through the remains of a ghost town. So many houses empty. So many businesses boarded up. So many people gone. Even now you watched as a man loaded up a wagon you had to pull by hand with who was presumably his wife standing by as he hauled another bag into the back. Wait..You knew those people.
It was Mr. and Mrs. Ochaco. The couple that ran the small series of fruit stands along the square.
You supposed with not enough people to buy their food, they didn't see the point of staying here either. It was like that everywhere now. No fish meant no income or goods. No goods means outside buyers wouldn't come by and bother. No income meant many people had no way to live. Without any customers their wasn't anything anyone could do about it. Which meant for a lot of people there was nothing left to do but become farmers (which not everyone could do) or leave for a better chance.
THIS WASN'T FAIR! NOT TO YOU! NOT TO THESE INNOCENT PEOPLE! NOT TO THE INNOCENT PEOPLE THE HENYA'S GREED AND THAT MERMAN'S WRATH ENDED UP DOOMING!!
It wasn't their fault! They didn't deserve to lose their families, their homes, their very way of life- And the reality only dropped from a pile of bricks to a boulder. As the legs carrying you came to a stop. F/c eyes widening as they took in the sight of wooden boards being hauled up on and over a window by one man as another took a hammer and nail and started hammering it into the home's side right over said window. And right in front of them both was your boss-
"M-Mrs. Satoshi?" You managed to get out finally snapping out of your stupor and began walking towards the old woman again. Upon hearing you the woman turned and looked surprised to see you there. "W-What are you doing?" Your arms gestured towards the flower shop. "What's going on?!"
Seeing the distress on your face, the old woman sighed sadly through her nose and shook her head. "Y/n, dear. I wasn't expecting you to show up again after yesterday. "
"What are you doing?," you repeated now recognizing the two men boarding up the shop as Niko and Mr. Satoshi.
"Yes. It is surprising isn't it?" You blinked as she fully turned to you and put her hands in front of her. "I guess it was only a matter of time. I'm afraid I'm being forced to close up shop."
A shattering sound pierced the fragile ghost town's air. "What?! I-..B-But you can't!"
"There's really no other way around it. Without anyone coming to buy my flowers there's no reason for me to set up shop."
"Then..W-What are you going to do?"
"My son has enough room for my husband and I. It'll be nice to settle down and spend time with my new grandchildren and we won't be forced to leave our home. Oh, I'm so sorry for springing this on you." Her hands reached over and grabbed one of yours apologetically. "But you're still a young, beautiful woman and you have so many opportunities. I'm sure you'll be able to find something much more fulfilling than a flower shop."
"Mother, we're finished with the windows. Come rest with us."
She looked over briefly to her son before turning back to you, sadly nodded, and then left you standing there by yourself staring at the remains of what used to be your life crumbling around you.
"Y/N'S BACK!! Y/N'S BACK!!"
You ignored Suma's happy cheers and instead walked right past the bathroom door to drag yourself into your room and flop yourself down face first into your bed and just lay there. The roller coaster of emotions that you've been forced to deal with taking it's toll along with the stress and frustration you've been feeling over the past months. You lost.. everything. Your life savings, your free time, your job, most of your social life, and now even the job you loved is no more. The only things you had left was your sanity and home but who knows how long they'll last at this rate! You were tired. All you wanted was to lay here forever and just sleep the bad dream away. To close your eyes and never look back but unfortunately that's not meant to be because you could still hear them calling out your name from just down the hall wondering why you weren't joining them.
...They couldn't stay here anymore. They had to go. And as your head lifted up from the warm, soft pillow you'd love nothing more than to lay on, you knew what had to be done once and for all.
When night time came it wasn't really too much trouble to sneak out once again during the night once the moon was high in the sky. Even if you there still was people still left that could spot you, there wasn't too much of a risk considering there was barely anyone left to really spot you let alone come out at night. You felt guilt wracking your very core with each step you took against the dark night towards the only person you knew of that had what you need to hopefully save more lives in the end. The barn doors on Niko's property creaked slowly opened as moonlight shined inside lighting up everything inside in a pretty silver glow.
A pretty brown and white pony turned it's head towards the dark figure standing in the doorway the pretty silver light reflecting off it's eyes. Before deciding the girl wasn't a threat and peacefully went back to chewing on the hay that was strewn about the pen. So it didn't mind a bit when the girl grabbed a bridle and approached it. It's so used to this being done so many times in its life that it didn't even put up a fight when she slipped it over his head or when she opened the door to the pen and pulled him out. Or when she took him outside looking around everywhere nervously as she took him beside the barn. Or when she made him stand still as she hooked up a familiar cart to him. Or when she pulled him along making him walk into the nearly empty town now. She only hoped Niko would forgive her for this.
You had done it. You'd committed theft. Yes. Technically this would be the third time you broke into someone's home, and stolen something but the first two times didn't count because the first time was technically a rescue mission and the second was recovering stolen property. There was a HUGE difference in now when you stole from innocent people and people you knew. You only hoped Niko would forgive you when you returned it to him a month later after you made the long trip back from the ocean. You quickly and quietly made your way back into your home looking back over your shoulder every five seconds expecting to see Niko or someone else come out of the darkness and raise the alarm for your crimes but the now mostly empty town remained quiet and peaceful..Or at least quiet. It was too eerie to be considered peaceful. You hadn't even gotten one step in the doorway when you were bombarded by a surprising sight.
A pair of annoyed and worried tired red eyes bore into yours from in the middle of your common room. "And just where have YOU been, Young Lady?"
"Rengoku!? What are you doing?!"
Rengoku was sitting up and leaning against a wall, arms crossed, and with a stern look on his face. Uncovered and with his long fish tail all exposed for anyone to walk in or look through a window and see. "What am I doing? I'm waiting for you to come home. Where were YOU?" He challenged back raising a thick eyebrow. "You didn't come join us for dinner or come to bed and you worried me sick sneaking out so late. What were you up to out there all by yourself in the middle of the night?"
"What are you? My dad?" You shook your head with a sigh. "That's not important right now." You quickly poked your head out to peer outside but luckily the only witness to your guests was the horse so you quickly closed the door. "You do realize if it was anyone else who walked in you would've been in big trouble right?"
"That's no excuse. As the man it's my duty to make sure all of my ladies are safe and taken cared for!"
You felt a strange form of flattery at the gesture but it was shoved under by your annoyance. "I appreciate it but I've been taking care of myself since I was a child. I don't need you to risk your cover just to try and take care of me."
"Well I can't help it if I'm worried! You didn't tell us or leave a note and-" He blinked as you just walked past him towards the hallway again. "H-Hey! Young Lady, you come back here when I'm talking to you! Where do you think you're going?"
"To get some bags and blankets." You could faintly hear the sounds of a thud and then Kyojuro dragging himself along the floors to follow you.
"Bags and blankets for what?", he called out confused. He wasn't very fast on land.
"Food, clothes, and whatever else I'm going to need in order to get you four back home."
The dragging noises stopped when you opened the door to your bedroom. "Wait. You mean-?!"
"If you want to be helpful go wake up the others and see if you can slip yourselves into that wagon outside while I gather the supplies."
There was a bit of silence behind you as you began scouring for what you needed and then you heard loud and fast dragging again before the distant sounds of another door opened followed- "My fireflies, wake up! A joyous day has arrived at last! We're finally going home!"
You only sighed and began gathering what you needed to get for the long journey ahead. A few large bags for stuffing as much none parishable foods in as possible for your all you could find, another bag for clothing and essentials, a large gourd for water, and a couple large blankets to throw over the top of the wagon to hide the cargo. A tarp would've been preferable but unfortunately you didn't have the luxury or time for that. The sooner this was over with the better. In went three bags of mixed supplies. In went a giant heavy gourd you struggled to lift in. And finally in went the four of your friends. You found Rengoku struggling to pull himself in on his own attempting to climb up the back wheels making the wagon loudly creak under his weight.
"SHH!! Kyojuro, what are you doing?!," you whisper yelled nearly dropping the lumpy bag of fruits and stale vegetables.
"Climbing in of course, Love! Is that not what you wanted?"
"...."
You had to take time out to literally help him climb in my lifting his long heavy tail and pushing it in. He was followed by you quietly picking up each of the girls and lowering them into the wagon alongside him. It was trickier than the last time you did this since they all had put on weight since the last time you had done this. Suma seemed the most excited and Makio had to slap a hand over her mouth as you pulled along the biggest blankets you had. With a light whooshing sound you threw them up in the air and pulled them all along until they draped over the entire back and effectively hiding the squirming mermaids underneath..Until they all popped their heads out excitedly on your left.
"I can't believe it! We're finally going home!," Suma practically screamed out smiling brightly, "I can't wait for all the yummy tuna again!"
A hand immediately shoved her head back down. "Pipe down! We're not out of this yet!"
"Wah! Kyojurooooo! Tell Makio to stop being so mean!"
"Let us all remain quiet. Makio is right and we are not out of this until we're back in our rightful home!" He blinked as the wagon jostled and you began pulling the horse along and in turn began to dragon the wagon along as well.
He was right. You weren't out of trouble yet. It would be at least a two week journey to the ocean and the road leading to it would take you all right past the Henya's home. You hadn't the faintest idea if Akira and his Aunt was still there or if he already left after the tantrum he through two days ago now. You didn't have a choice though. You had to take the chance. Stirring the horse towards the road headed Westward, you pulled him along and the horse followed obediently and successfully pulling the cart behind him. It was official. You all were off. Walking through the ghostly town early in the morning with the sun at least still three hours away from rising over the horizon. Each creak and rattle the cart made seemed to echo through the darkness making you fear that someone might wake up and catch you in the act. Each loud clip clip the horse made sending a chill down your spine that he'll attract something out from the darkness however as you all passed by abandoned home after abandoned home, no one showed their faces through the now empty buildings. And even if there was anyone left, they were fast asleep and oblivious to your journey. As you passed by the empty spaces, your friends stayed alert but quiet. Seemed even Suma knew the importance of being quiet right now. Soon the houses dwindled and you all were passing by the barn.
The Henya's farm. The place where this all started.
For you at least. Who knows where the girls were kept before they were moved here. Automatically you slowed the horse down to just a quieter slower walk as you approached the place. The shadow of the horrid barn seemed to loom over you all as you passed as if laughing and mocking them still for what they went through. You paid more attention to the house that laid still and dark. It looked like no one was home, so perhaps they had already left or maybe they were fast asleep. Either way you never took your eyes off of it as you all passed. The girls automatically lowered down with different levels of fear and worry and anger washing over their faces.  A growl made you jump and whirl behind fearing a stray dog or worse a wolf had chosen you all as an easy meal-..Only to half freeze half be relieved when you just noticed it was Kyojuro staring at the home too with such intensity that you swore his eyes were literally burning.
"Kyojuro, shush!," you sternly shushed him before quickly pulling the cart along.
It was doubtful that they could hear his soft growling from so far away but you weren't going to risk anything especially not when you just started your journey.  Despite all your feelings, the house remained dark as you passed it and stopped just outside the treeline and the road leading  into territory you've never been in. You took one last look at the quiet town and your home nestled inside, then at the Henya house, and then at the four pairs of eyes staring at you curiously wondering why you stopped. Two weeks. All it would take was two weeks and then you'd be free. With a shaky breath you turned back around and pulled the horse forward making the wagon creak along and leaving your old home behind.
You never knew about the man who entered your empty home the following afternoon and discovered the remains of a locked box's burnt latch in your fireplace and the leftover scales in your bathroom.
Your first day of traveling went..Ok you guessed. The sun rose three hours after you started and you four were surrounded by forest. You've already passed by the small river where the three Kocho sisters disappeared from here last autumn. Being so close near the ocean, it was always fairly warm and vibrant here but already it was nearing autumn again and soon you'd it'd be a year since they disappeared along with that Mitsuri girl. You know it was probably unlikely but you hoped that their families hadn't moved away too in case they ever came back. You stopped around midday by a small pond to allow the horse to rest and eat and drink and to give your aching feet a rest from the hours of walking around you had to do. And to allow yourself and the others to eat.
"Eat and drink sparingly. I don't know if all of this will last all of us until we make it there."
After an hour you continued until it was night, and you were plume tired. Sleep forcing you to tie the horse to a nearby tree and climb up into the back of the wagon to sleep with the others, Hinatsuru laying claim to you by pulling you to snuggle for the night.
"I can't wait for you to meet Lord Tengen. He's caring and kind and unlike any other man you've ever met."
The merman half responsible for your life going to hell? Yeah. Not going to happen but instead of arguing you just fell asleep to Suma snoring loudly again hugging Hinatsuru's other side. The next three days were pretty much the same. Walking, breaks, sleep, and rinse and repeat. By the fifth day you all hit your first snag. Surrounded by trees and forest constantly you didn't have exactly the ability to see far into the distance so when you came by a fork in the road. Both dirt roads looked exactly alike. Old, worn, and dirty. F/c looked between the two different directions unsure.
"...Where do we go?," you asked still so unsure.
"The right!" Makio pointed down the right path making you blink and look where she pointed.
"Right? Are you sure?"
She nodded blonde bangs swaying. "I remember that weird boulder there that looks like a bloated jellyfish when we were first brought this way. It's definitely right."
Bloated jellyfish?? There was certainly a misshapen rock there but a bloated jellyfish?? You decided not to argue and considering you've never been this far away, you just had to trust her so right it was. You pulled the horse that way and continued onto your journey. Three more days passed the same as nothing really changed but you were right days in now, more than half way in. Just supposedly six or so more days until you were able to reach the ocean.
You never knew about the danger that was approaching fast with each rest and sleep you took
By the ninth day the forests thinned out into half plains half trees. And the distant smells of salts and oceans were getting closer and stronger. Makio was right! You all were so close! You could taste the relief and freedom awaiting you all. Nine days turned to ten. The smells were stronger. Ten days turned to eleven. Most of the trees were gone now. Eleven days turned to twelve. You were so, SO CLOSE NOW! Twelve days turned to thirteen. You all hardly slept that night with the excitement. Thirteen turned to fourteen-
YOU ALL WERE SO EXCITED!!
The four in the back could hardly contain themselves! You kept walking and walking despite your sore feet only taking a single break by a small pond to quickly rest and eat before moving on again. The sun rose, went to the middle of the sky, and then slowly started to set when you saw seagulls cawing and flying through the sky. And then you saw it.
THE BEACH!!
THE BLUE OCEAN!!
THE YELLOW SAND!!
THE-...
.... the...You slowly came to a stop staring at what your eyes laid upon. The others initially excited also stopped what what they were doing to look shocked at what their sight beheld.
"Oh Posidon...Tengen.. what have you done?"
The setting sun's light lit up the beach and the blue ocean stretching far into the horizon as far as the eyes could see. And the destruction of others long past. The sounds-
The sounds of a torn sail flapped in the evening wind as it lazily flapped about from the broken mast ran into the ground, a mountain of splinters and what was once a majestic ship washed ashore next to it.
Clip. Clip. Clip. Clip.
The noises of the horse walking was quickly softened as the dirt turned into soft sand. Eyes bore sight of a graveyards worth of clutter. Where rotting wood met the cruel hot sand and the mocking waves that carried it here. Travesty after travesty you passed by. What was once boats of all sizes now marking the final resting place for those whom met a watery grave. The eyes gazed over each and every one as you passed. The result of greed and wrath.
But it'll all be over soon. You just had to get them into the water and all of it would be over. So more deaths. No more Mermaids. Only normalcy.
You shivered and tried to ignore the deep claw marks embedded into the sides of a rather large fishing boat telling yourself that they were just marks from getting stuck on a reef. You pulled the horse along until you spotted a sight that you instantly recognized. A dock! An old honestly rigidity looking dock was right in front of you all leading to the water just deep enough to let them all swim without having to crawl stuck in the sand. You walked and walked until you were standing right in front of it all. The wind gently blowing your hair and the other four staring silently.
"....Well..this is it." You spoke after a minute breaking the silence and turning to them. "C'mon. Let's get you all back home."
There was a silence as no one moved for a moment just staring longingly at the sight- Kyojuro was the first one to take initiative, grabbing the side of the cart and pulling himself out only to land on the ground with a thud sound. Suma was next excitedly squealing and practically throwing herself out and desperately hauling herself towards the water. Hinatsuru and Rengoku weren't too far behind her as they too dragged themselves out. Meanwhile you grabbed onto Makio and started walking behind them with her in your arms. One, two, and three mermaids clambered onto the docks and without missing a single beat- Threw themselves off the sides without even waiting  to get into deeper water.
Large splashes could be heard as they disappeared into the blue, blending into the darkness as the darkness crept further into the sky.
"You don't have to go y'know?," Makio's voice spoke out as you watched what you assumed was Suma's tail slapping the water. "This doesn't have to be good bye. We still want you to meet Tengen! You'll seriously like him! I promise!"
Makio watched as her face gazed at the water still, a hint of sadness as she opened her mouth to answer but didn't say a word as a reflection reflected by the limited sunlight caught her eyes. Pupils shrank as danger approached swiftly. Makio was once blinking in concern-
Then she was flying.
Makio elt weightless tumbling through the air as her world twisted and turned- AND THEN THERE WAS A SPLASH-
It's not often a person would see a beautiful beach. That was a privilege as eyes gazed out at the mournful sea. Gliding along in rows where it kissed the sand, it looked so peaceful in its dark blue colorful hue. The golden last rays was a gift delivered to the beholders by Angels and winds so sweetly staining the skin like a lover's kiss. The horizon itself looked as if it was a golden river of gleaming gold sewing itself in between the canopy of the dark twilight where the first few stars appeared twinkling like diamonds connecting it to the deep blue of the calm ocean paradise. In the distance, lines of the golden orbs last rays of tapered light splayed out, flowing through the cracks in the clouds like heaven was the one sewing the twilight to the waters with golden thread as the waters danced with sparkles, reflections from the light but it looked as if the angels made an accident while sewing the two together, knocking some stars out of the sky and making them shimmer and shine on the Water's surface.
It was beautiful.
She was so thankful for the beautiful sight.
"If I can't have you, then I'll make sure no beast can either."
The cruelty and coldness of one's blade could never compare to the cruelty and coldness of one's heart and soul. Two bodies whom shared the beautiful sight fading from the blackened vision clouding her brain. A slide of cold metal and leakage of red stumbled, tumbled down in place of the pretty vision before them. Sweet salty air stained by copper as she stood. The cold cruel blade retreating from within her form as she stood there. The silence beckoning eyes of f/c to calmly turn. The sight of greed, dark with want toring away from the light embracing the hell within. Not but a whisper parted from her lips, the maw heavy swirling with blurs.
"who..is the true monster here, Akira Henya?"
A distant woman's scream filled the void tilted sideways as the world tilted back and you were swallowed up by the coldness of the ocean blue and wrapped up in the warm embrace of lovers concerned. Catching her as world went black and echoes of sorrowful wails echoed throughout the voided night. The waves reverberating off the sky and cascading deep, deep into the Water's depths the waves carrying them further and further under the surface and muffled the unanswered sorrows of agony's past.
And two eyes of magenta stained red by wrath and blood opened wide.
"Y/N?! Y/N?!"
One who such went by such a name did not stir from the foreboding deadly slumber slipped into as shadows blurred and darkness swallowed them up. Sobs. Wails. Pleads. Cries. Prayers. It made not a difference to the one who had blood on his hands, staring down at the scene before him like a sick artist admiring the picture he painted into reality.
''That's right. Scream. It won't do a bit of good in the end!"
Hisses bore his fate as flames flared up at the one who would dare paint such a cruel thought into real form.
"HA! You think you're intimidating by just hissing at me like a fucking wet cat?! You're lucky you're in the bloody water otherwise you would've been gutted next like just another tuna!"
Anger. Wrath. Blood. Passion. And L O V E. All the red represents.
"Cry all you'd like..At the end of the day, no one is going to give a hell."
Oh how wrong he was. Someone did answer the cry of help.
And ironically hell had found him.
A violent rippling, rippling through the water like unholy blades through thin paper. A white ghost within the darkness rising amongst the dead and decayed ships and distorting the star covered water shining bright. It seemed as if even the great sun was scared of this beast as it hid behind the horizon and disappeared allowing night to cover it's unholy speed through the dark void and towards the docks above-
C R A S H-!!!
Feet shook as the old dock swayed, soon loosing his footing and the man found himself falling backwards onto his backside. Looking at the horror beyond that penetrated his sights. Splinters went flying. Wood cracked and flew in all directions cascading down into the water like unholy rain as something from below began pounding up and destroying E A C H  A N D  E V E R Y  P L A N K  O F  W O O D. Kyojuro out of instinct turned away shielding the one in his arms and the screaming women as droplets and wood bounced off his shoulders. The monster of ghost white passing by as a mighty tail passed them forcing the unholy rain to continue as it smashed and destroyed it's way up towards the human man. Bloodthirsty and itching for one thing
TO ENACT VENGEANCE FOR HUMAN GREED.
Crashing, crunching, destroying ever closer to the human and then there was a splash. The iron like grip from the waves ceased him and he took a deep gulp of suffocation. The world around him wet and without any solid object to free him from the watery depths grip. Dark..Why was everything so dark?! He kicked out and flailed for nothing as the void never loosened it's grip on his air drained body. The menagerie of a shattered moon waved goodbye from the shattered waves of the seas rippling surface as he sunk deeper and deeper into the blackened abyss below that welcomed him in it's cold embrace. It's hands slowly wrapping around his body and killing him into that dangerous lullaby of death. It was .quiet. Almost even peaceful like as he drifted slowly down, down, down. He felt like falling asleep with his eye lids getting heavy. Until his flailing hand caught onto a floating board and he was able to pull himself up, breaching the surface, and gasping a breath of that holy air as he coughed out the void's water and laid himself upon the floating wood being his savior. Deep heavy breaths followed breathing in and out panting and coughing as panicked eyes eyes darted around but the darkness and waves enveloped any trace of the monster, and all others had disappeared. Nothing but shattered wood and darkness being his company.
"You know ... There's five stages of grief."
His form jumped against the board he floated upon eyes widening.
"Denial."
Panicked eyes darted around but he nothing within the darkness and waves or amongst the wreckage.
"Anger."
The voice sounded ethereal other worldly. A ghost ebbing closer and closer from the depths.
"Bargaining."
The voice was blurred. Coming from everywhere and nowhere at once. Sounding so close yet so far away all at once.
"Depression."
Heart beats picked up. Swiveling his head this way and that as danger, panic, and fear set in with the unsettling doom ever approaching.
"And acceptance...But I would like to add to add one more step to that."
The water was silent. Nothing but the sloshing of his body sounding out as he desperately searched for the ghost that wasn't there but yet was at the same time. Until the hotness of something's breath wafted over his ear from behind as a voice whispered nothing but a word in his ear.
"R E V E N G E."
A man's shriek pierced the night and carried over the waves and forest before quiet settled once more.

Premise: Days in the life of the Shinazugawa household, based on my previous story (link here).
Word Count: 3263
Note: This was requested by the lovely @yourlocalangie, “little family moments in the shinazugawa household with the reader and their children.” 🫶🏻
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
A typical day in the Shinazugawa household started very early in the morning. Even before the sun got a chance to go out, Sanemi, his wife and the children would be on their way down the mountain with a cart full of goodies.
Over the years the farm had grown quite a bit.
Mia and her husband had babies and now your chicken coop is full to the brim with lovely birds and delicious eggs for your family and the towns people.
The milk from your farm was considered the hottest item in the market, getting a consistent queue of customers since very early in the morning, creating a high demand.
After an intense morning of sales, the Shinazugawa family heads back to their farm for a well deserved home cooked meal.
The afternoons were particularly busy, since they would all go to the market together, the rest of the work had to be done after lunch.
"Sanehiko, you're on milk duty, make sure they at least fill two of the big jugs."
"On it father." Sanehiko, the eldest of the lot was the most invested in the family business. He learned from his mother from a very young age how to tend the animals and get the milk from the cows, being the best at it in the family. He thoroughly enjoys working on the fields as well, always looking for a way to help with the crops and making sure everything was in order, out of all of them he was the most responsible and down to earth, being the eldest had a big impact in his way of living, much like young Sanemi he is constantly thinking of the wellbeing of his family and does his best to support his parents.
"Genma, you're in charge of picking the best tomatoes to sell tomorrow. Water your mother's herbs when you're done."
"Yes father!" Genma was the sweetest of them all, always wanting to please his mother and father alike. Sanemi was forever jealous at the fact that he was a momma's boy, he reminds him so much of Genya he wishes he would look up to him the way his brother used to do, but his mother is softer and prettier, of course anyone would choose her instead, he would do too.
"Remi, help your mother separate the black from the red berries and put them in the different baskets. If you behave, I might show you the third form." His only daughter was the closest to him, she inherited his spirit and even if she's not even three yet she begs her father to teach her his wind breathing techniques, days he decides to indulge her even the tiniest bit are the happiest around the house.
"(Y/N) you concentrate on the marmalade and watching Senri, I'll take care of the rest there is to do around in the fields and pick up the eggs." reaching over for your husband, you placed a soft kiss to his lips, nodding at his instructions. You were still very much pregnant and doing more than that would be harsh on your body. Patting your bum lovingly, he rolled his sleeves up and headed back to work.
"Mma this!" Remi was diligently following her father's instructions, pulling a berry that wasn’t ripe out and showing it to you in her tiny hand. "Good eye, baby. Let's put those a side ok? We don't want the marmalade to be sour." happily she set it on a plate and continued with her designated job.
No day was the same. Having a farm gave the kids the opportunity to be active and learn from their parents skills that would be useful in the future. Sanemi made sure to rotate them around the tasks, he wanted his children to grow as strong as he was and as smart as their mother, he wanted nothing but the best for them.
By the end of the day they were all tired and ready for bed as early as the sun would set that day.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
Sundays were off. It didn't matter how much work was pending in the farm, how many eggs the chickens lay that morning, how much money they made that week, nothing mattered. Days off were important for the Shinazugawas.
Sanemi didn't get much time to lay around with his youngest since he is always so busy, but Sundays were normally deemed 'Senri day'.
Today though, he had slightly different plans.
You just finished bathing Remi and Senri when you heard Genma squealing like a little piglet.
"Genma get your ass here right now!"
Your husband sounded pissed. He rarely yells at the children, no matter how angry he was.
"Mother!!! Help me!! Father has gone crazy!! MOTHER!!!" his cries for help made you run outside your house, just to see your husband chasing your child around the fields with a sharp knife in his hand.
"Shinazugawa Sanemi. What on earth are you doing?" the child crashed against your leg, hiding behind it. If there was someone who could save him, that would be you.
"Tch." he was forced to stop running by your deep angry mother glare, "I just wanted to give him a haircut, love. Don't know why he's running away like a freak. Did you see him run? How is he faster than me? He's five, this makes no sense."
The four Shinazugawa children took after their father in their physical strengths. Sanehiko could lift a grown pig up since he was four. Genma had super speed, apparently. Remi had his blood thirst and Senri broke Sanehiko's finger when he was just three months old.
You brought Genma up into your arms, looking into his terrified eyes. "What's wrong, baby? Why aren't you letting your father cut your hair? You can't even see of how long it is."
"He....wanted to shave the sides of my head...." the child buried his face on your chest seeking for comfort, this always irritated Sanemi. He understands he is still young and that’s completely normal, but nobody but him and maybe Senri should be allowed to do that. Being jealous of his own children was a new low for the pillar.
"Stop being such a cry baby. I will do it whether you want it or not, I'm your father I do whatever the hell I want."
"Seems like you enjoyed sleeping out by the kitchen, darling." all trace of color drained from Sanemi's face instantly.
"B-babe....let's talk this out, ok? I just wanted to give him a haircut, you know he needs one." and he did, but you didn't like the way he was speaking to the child.
"Why are you shaving his head though? He looks so cute with his long hair." you were peppering soft kisses all over his little face, making him giggle.
By now Sanemi was sitting on the floor beside you, heaving out a long defeated sigh. "My brother...he had his hair like that. I guess I miss him."
"Oh my love...." setting your child down, you embraced your crestfallen husband, kissing the side of his face. "I know you see your brother in Genma, but you gotta remember he's your son and he is just five. Running after him with a knife in your hand isn't considered bonding."
"Father. It’s ok, you can shave my head. I don't like that sad face you're making." he brought Genma into a strong embrace and you all remained like that for a while. He missed Genya dearly, but having you around was more than he deserved.
"Remi too, Remi too!!!" your little girl jumped on Sanemi's back, nuzzling his neck with her little nose.
Sanehiko was holding Senri, confused by the knot of people before him. "What's going on?"
"Just come here, dammit." he settled for leaving Senri in your arms and gently nestle himself on your side, one of his hands holding one of his father's.
The Shinazugawa household was warm and full of understanding.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
After a well deserved break, your husband was now getting into your shared futon ready for a good night sleep.
He loved caressing your enlarged belly, there was nothing he enjoyed more than seeing you carrying his babies, knowing you had a part of him inside of you. He would always fall asleep while tracing patterns on your tummy, face pressed on the side of your neck.
Maybe it was the emotional afternoon your family had, maybe it was the long walk up the hill from the day before. The reason was unknown to you but a sharp pain on your lower half alerted your sleepy husband.
“(Y/N) what’s wrong?”
“Is coming Nemi.” as if on cue, your water broke all over your freshly laundered covers.
“What do you mean is coming? Isn’t it too early? Fuck, what do we do now? Can you wait until I go call the midwife?” he already knew the answer to that question, your body was moving on its own into a good position to deliver the baby.
“Can’t do. We gotta do this on our own, I’ve done it four times already and you’ve been there for every single one of them, we know what to do.”
“Are you out of your fucking mind (Y/N)? What if there’s complications? Senri gave you a hard time.” he was panicking now, removing the covers completely to give you more space, “Hell, you haven’t even finished waving the basket, where is the baby going to sleep?”
“SANEHIKO.” the contractions were heavy, painful, one right after the other, you needed a cool headed person around while your husband hyperventilated in a corner of the room.
“Yes, mother?” the child had already gone to bed, but was still awake thankfully, coming to your aid instantly.
“The baby is coming my love, you know what to do right?” the child nodded making his way over to the kitchen, returning not long after with clean cloths and water.
“Take Senri, we need his basket. Remember, don’t come out of the room until I go look for you, no matter what you hear. This goes for the rest of the gang too, keep an eye on all of them.” Sanemi’s anxiety driven self was finally grasping reality, just in time.
It was now just the two of you in your room. The same room you and your brother were born in, the same room where your four children came to this world. “We can do this, love.” Sanemi held your hand as tight as he could getting in between your legs as you started pushing your fifth child out. Thankfully there were no complications, the child came out fast and with minimal effort, more than ready to come out and meet her family.
Sanemi was ecstatic when he saw his baby girl for the first time as the adrenaline rush was finally settling down. He somehow thought he’d have another boy; it was a pleasant surprise. He was so into it that even forgot he had to clip the cord, almost dragging you out with him when he pulled the baby close to his chest. She looked just like you, his beautiful little treasure.
After cleaning you and the baby, Sanemi set the child on his son’s basket, wrapped into a little cocoon where she slept peacefully tired of the whole adventure.
“How are you feeling, baby? You did such a good job. You’re a pro at this now you have my respect I could never do that, specially not now that I saw it so up close, that shit's not for the weak. I knew I picked the right wife.” this made you giggle, pulling your husband in for cuddles. You probably needed space but all you wanted was to be in his arms.
“I feel less heavy. A bit sore though.” he was rubbing circles onto the side of your hip trying his best to relieve the pain even if it was just a little.
“Do you want me to call the kids in? I can take Sae to them so you can rest some more.”
“Yeah, I don’t think I can handle Remi jumping on me right now.” you both chuckled, staring dreamily into each other’s eyes.
The children were overwhelmed with how cute their little sister was, Genma was particularly over the moon as he wasn’t the only one with dark hair any longer.
Sanemi explained to the kids that their mother needed to rest just like when Senri was born, they needed to behave, be gentle and stay out of troubles. But even after his father’s speech, Genma managed to sneak out of the room quietly and was now kneeling by your side.
“Mother, is your belly ok? Do you need belly rubs?” his sweet little voice was music to your ears, his gentle nature was truly a gift.
“I would love that, sweetie. But does your father know you’re here?” the child swallowed hard seemingly nervous but opted for ignoring the question and go straight to work, gently massaging your sore belly. “I will go to bed in a bit, just thought you might need belly rubs.” he looked like a little delinquent now that his father styled his hair with such a fashion forward design, it was the cutest thing in this world.
“Thank you, baby. You’re the best.” sitting up slightly, you gave your toddler a good night kiss, sending him his way before anyone noticed.
Sanemi noticed of course, but he didn’t say anything, he knew his son, he was probably just making sure his mother was still alive after the deafening screams heard all over the house during the birthing process.
He took Sae back to your room, leaving Senri to share his eldest brother bedding arrangements for the night to give you some extra time to finish the second basket the next day.
Finally going back to your side, Sanemi nearly collapsed on top of you, proud of the evening accomplishments but as tired as one can be, it never even crossed his mind he would help deliver his own child, it was an insane experience. “So how does it feel being the father of five children?” teasing your man was fun, especially when he was this tired, he gets way softer.
“Makes me want to put another one inside of that delicious looking-“
“SANEMI!” he bursts out laughing, burying his face on your hair.
“Just saying... Feels pretty good though. You know I come from a very large family, it feels great having all this tiny loud brats running around, makes me feel complete. You’ve given me so much…”
You were dozing off on his chest, placing a kiss on it before closing your eyes, “I would give you the world, my love.”
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
Being a parent to five children was not easy.
The age gap wasn’t as helpful now a days. When Genma was born Sanehiko was already old enough to understand what was happening. But having three children in a row was taking a toll both physically and mentally on you and your husband.
Remi was difficult to handle, always so full of energy. Senri was still just a little baby but was currently learning how to walk on his own, accidents following his every step. And Sae was milking the life out of you, her appetite was like no other.
You were tired and so was Sanemi.
Even the market stall had to go on a little break, this didn’t happen when Senri was born. He’s always been a quiet baby, would sleep most of his day. But Sae was always hungry and would constantly ask to be fed.
Sanehiko was deemed Senri’s guardian, while Sanemi held onto Remi for dear life majority of the day. The farm still needed to be tended to and you would have to go back to the market soon or the goods would be lost. Genma was tasked as your moral support or how Sanemi liked to call it ‘your servant’, he was in charge of making sure his mother had everything she needed, so he would go on fluffing your pillow every few minutes, bring you water, rub your belly, help you hold his sister while you changed her. He was a big help regardless of what the others said.
“Nii-nii look.” Remi would run over to the house to show her brother the vegetables she picked, the bugs she found, she even brought an egg, her hair littered with feathers making you giggle at the mental image of your husband trying to catch his daughter and chase her out of the coop. She’s always been given easy tasks as she’s still very little, but she was now helping her father with the farm, it made her feel important.
Genma knew she was taunting him, but he was where he wanted to be, there was nothing he’d rather do than to help his mother and new sister to be comfortable and well, he was a man now, the Shinazugawa are strong, he got this under control.
You were dozing off while feeding your daughter, Genma already snoozing on your lap, when you heard tiny feet running in your direction. You could see Remi on Sanemi’s shoulders picking corn in the fields from the window, this could only mean one thing.
“Senri, is that you?” a tiny hand was holding onto the doorframe, supporting his own weight. His brother was supposed to be watching him, but your children all take after their father, you knew Sanehiko wasn’t at fault, it was most likely Senri who sneaked out.
“Come here, my love.” he lets go of the door stumbling clumsily into your arms, “Did you miss me? I sure miss you, my baby boy. It's time for your nap, isn’t it?” he was climbing onto you, stepping on Genma’s hand in the process but very diligently skipping over his newborn sister as if afraid of hurting her.
In under a minute, you could hear your restless son lifting things around the house, scrambling in fear. “Sanehiko, he’s here baby.” a tuft of white hair was now peaking from outside the window, he didn’t want his parents to notice he lost a brother but got caught regardless. He was panting, face covered in sweat, “He disappeared so quickly mother, I swear I just looked to the side for a second and he was gone.”
“I know sweetie, I know. Why don’t you come here and rest with us for a while? We all need a nap.” That was a tempting offering, he was tired that was a fact. Having to look after his little brother, while being constantly awoken at night by a crying baby was a bit too much for a nine-year-old. He nestled on your side, giving you some extra support on the arm that was holding your daughter. Quickly falling asleep like the rest of the gang, face comfortably pressed on your shoulder.
Sanemi had picked up some of your lavender for tea, hopefully that would get you to sleep better. He was about to announce his plan when he saw more than half of his family sprawled on the floor, enjoying an afternoon nap, the sun beams coming through the window were shinning on the beautiful face of his darling wife the love of his life, and his offspring.
His youngest toddler was dozing off on his head, her arms now dangling to the sides of his face. Seems like everyone had the same idea.
He put her down on her eldest brother lap, and she curled on your side immediately, holding Sanehiko’s arm like a pillow. Sanemi went on your other side, cradling you, Genma, and Senri to his chest, letting out a content sigh out and kissing your forehead softly trying not to wake you up.
His life could be chaotic and had been quite challenging over the years, but once he found his happy place, he wouldn’t trade it for anything in this universe, and that was you.

!SHADOW AND BONE S2 SPOILERS!
now here’s the thing: was it book accurate? no it was not, but i didn’t hate that
i appreciate that even though they changed a lot when it came to the plot they were still able to stay true to who the characters are, and for the most part show characters did what their book counterparts would’ve done so i’m ok with the changes
-no comment on david’s ending bc i still haven’t accepted his ending in the book so i’m choosing to live in denial :)
-MY BABY GENYA, i’ve read the books so i knew what was going to happen but my god i’m heartbroken
-zoya (aka my wife) deserved more screen time
-jesper only recognizing wylan when he was on top of him was so funny for no reason
-inej on the rooftop with the gutter guy… i was PETRIFIED just staring at my screen like an idiot
-the kanej scenes when inej was hallucinating? I WAS SPEECHLESS, and a little confused ngl
-the nina and kaz dynamic was EVERYTHING
HOWEVER, the whole helnik cliffhanger thing… no thanks, i truly wish the crows had managed to get to matthias bc as someone who loved the society i’m still traumatized four years later, WHAT IF THEY DONT GET A THIRD SEASON AND MATTHIAS IS JUST STUCK IN HELLGATE?!
(crooked kingdom spoilers: yes i’ve read the book, yes i know how matthias’ story ends, no i do not want to see that on my screen but i still would’ve loved a helnik reunion)

Sanemi's wife
"DON'T TALK ABOUT MY BROTHER LIKE THAT!" Genya shouted, punching Zenitsu.
"But we're on the same side" the blond boy groaned in pain.
A huge fight broke out at the Shinazugawa mansion, with hunters trying to break up the conflict and getting beaten up for it.
"What's going on here?" a new voice questioned making Sanemi and Genya freeze in their places while the others were confused.
"Shit," muttered the Wind Pillar as it began to tremble slightly, which surprised the hunters.
A blonde woman appeared in the engawa, she was wearing a luxurious kimono and her face was stern yet beautiful. This caused the hunters to lose their breath momentarily.
The woman frowned as she looked at the Wind Pillar that was still being held. "What's going on Nemi?"
The white-haired man began to stutter and the others just let the words sink into their minds. Who was that person?
With no response from her husband, the woman's eyes darted towards another individual. "Genya-kun, what's going on here?"
"Nee-san, Nemi and I had a little fight but---" he stumbled over his own words.
The woman raised her eyebrows. "But?" she prompted.
"HE TRIED TO BLIND GENYA!" Tanjiro shouted at her, making the woman look confused at the albino who became surprisingly silent.
Then she gave him a wide smile that was the opposite of welcoming. "Honey, I think we need to have a little chat, okay?
The man's eyes widened slightly as the woman got off the engawa to check on the younger Shinazugawa who only blushed and muttered that he was fine. He (Sanemi) tried to leave as discreetly as possible but was immediately stopped with a hand on his shoulder.
"Let's talk, remember?"
She smiled as he followed her into the house with a terrified expression, who would have thought he would be capable of making that expression.
Zenitsu decided to break the silence "Uh, who is that wonderfully scary woman?"
Genya looked at him angrily but decided to answer the question "She is Nemi-nii's wife"
The others along with Zenitsu tried to absorb these words until the blond started shouting "A MAN LIKE THAT IS MARRIED TO A BEAUTY?!"
"LOOK AT THE RESPECT! SHE'S A MARRIED WOMAN!" Genya punched him again.
The hunters began whispering furiously among themselves and couldn't disagree with Zenitsu until they heard some noises coming from inside the house.
"Are those the sounds of glass breaking?" a hunter questioned, making the others become more alert and Genya's eyes widened slightly. "Yuzuki-nee is furious."
A few more noises were heard until the woman appeared with a cheerful and warm smile. "You must be tired, dinner is ready. And as for you-" she pointed inside the house "you will sleep in the garden tonight."
Well at least dinner was delicious.

After
Pairing: Aleksander Morozova x reader
Summary: After the Civil War, you carry on...
A/N: So based on something Jessie said during the red carpet premier, I’m 99% certain that Aleksander’s going to die this season, so here’s this
I also cried while writing the dream sequence in this
General Nazyalensky hated you.  She never said it, but you knew why: you had been Kirigan’s wife, the object of his affections, the owner of his heart.  And when the war had ended with your husband’s death, you had been pardoned.  It had been Aleksander’s dying wish that you go on, that you keep fighting for your people, and you would do just that.  If not for yourself, then for your Aleksander.  You still remembered the first few days after the war, they were imprinted in your mind:
You were seated before the new King’s hastily assembled council, still in your bloody, singed, torn kefta.  There was blood and dirt on your face, your hair was a mess, tear tracks cutting through the grime in your cheeks.  “Y/N Morozova,” King Nikolai said, standing with his hands planted on the table.  “As it is, you have been charged with high treason.  We both know what the punishment for that is.”  You did: death.  “However, the Grisha are fractured, and I’m feeling merciful.  So,” the King unfolded a piece of paper and slid it across the table to you.
It was a pardon, a royal decree: By order of His Most Royal Majesty, King Nikolai Lantsov, Grand Duke of Udova, Ruler of the Double Eagle Throne, Y/N Morozova is hereby pardoned from all crimes and offenses committed during the Ravkan Civil War.  In exchange for this leniency, Vdova Morozova will take all reasonable efforts to bring the rogue Grisha to the Crown, as well as serve on His Majesty’s council as the advisor to the Grisha.  Vdova Morozova, by accepting this pardon, swears loyalty and fealty to His Majesty, King Nikolai and all of his descendants and serve on their councils.
“You’re not going to kill me?” you’d asked, still in shock from everything that had happened.  The King had sighed, pinching his brow.  “As it turns out, you’re useful to us.  And if Nazyalensky is going to be leading the Second Army with Genya and David, I’ll need an advisor.  So no, I’m not going to kill you.”  So here you were, almost 3 years later, an advisor to the Crown, alive, but not quite free.
Your pardon had been expertly worded: you would live for centuries thanks to the power your husband had gifted you, and King Nikolai had ensured your loyalty to he and his descendants.  You’d succeeded in bringing Aleksander’s Grisha back to the Crown, something that did nothing to endear General Nazyalensky to you any further.  They were traitors, she said, they deserved to die.  But you, according to the Squaller, deserved to die more above anyone else.  But you were under the King’s protection, thanks to your pardon, so there was nothing she could do but simmer in her hatred.
The General found you in the Royal Chapel, knelt at the altar, a strand of prayer beads in your hands.  “I never took you for a pious woman,” she sneered, crossing her arms.  You were silent for several minutes, crossing yourself as you rose.  “I’m not.  But if my husband is to be worshiped as a Saint, then I will pray to him.”  You straightened the skirts of your black silk gown, both your husband’s color as well as the color of mourning, the color you’d worn every day since your husband’s death.
Zoya stepped closer to you.  “So when that cult shows up at the gates, you’ll throw yourself into their arms?  You’ll raise an army against the crown and commit treason once again?”  You straightened yourself up, forcing yourself to be composed.  “My loyalty is to King Nikolai and no one else.  I can pray to a Saint and not follow the crazed followers of His cult.”  “You say that now, but if those zealots show up, I guarantee you’ll be running to them, Vdova Morozova.”  The use of your title, widow, was intentional, a reminder of what you’d lost, and it stung, even after all these years
“I would watch yourself, General,” you said.  “I could very easily advise His Majesty to remove you from the Triumvirate.  There are plenty of Etheralki who would be honored to take your place.  Now, is there a reason you interrupted my prayer?”  Zoya bristled, but nodded.  “King Nikolai wishes to see you.”  “Of course,” you replied, sweeping from the chapel without meeting her gaze.
“Moi tsar,” you said, curtseying when you entered the council chambers.  “You called for me?”  “Indeed.  You’re a difficult woman to track down, Y/N.  We searched half the Palace for you.”  “I was in the chapel,” you replied, seating yourself at the table.  “What can I do for you?”  The King needed your council on how to implement the new training regimen for graduates of the Grisha school, which you handled with little difficulty.
When you were dismissed, you returned to your chambers, richly appointed chambers in the guest wing of the Grand Palace.  There were two guards posted outside your door at all times, as much for your safety as they were there to ensure you didn’t try anything.  But what would you try, anyway?  You were a widow who ought to have been executed; instead, you were living in luxury, a seat on the King’s council.  You were far more fortunate than you deserved to be.
As you dressed for bed, your eyes landed on the portrait from your wedding; you and Aleksander, wrapped in each other’s arms as you danced, eyes only for each other.  Your heart ached, as it always did, and you climbed into bed, curling into yourself.  Nights were the best part of your day; when you could slip into dreams and see your husband again.  Maybe it was your subconscious giving you a shred of joy, maybe it was tour Sasha visiting you from the afterlife, you didn’t care, so long as you saw his beloved face.
You were in your rooms in the Little Palace, in your old bed, the black silk sheets cool against your naked body.  The sun shone through the drapes, and you turned your face into your pillow.  A strong arm wrapped around your middle and pulled you backwards into a warm chest.  “Shh, go back to sleep, milaya.”  Tears pricked in your eyes and you turned over, facing your darling husband.
“Aleksander,” you whispered, and he smiled, kissing your forehead.  “My love, my beautiful, beautiful bride.”  Tears fell, and Aleksander wiped them away.  “Don’t cry, sweet love,” he soothed, kissing your forehead again.  “I miss you so much,” you cried, pressing your face into his chest.  “Sasha, I miss you.”  “I’m right here, sweetheart.  Right here.”  You sniffled, and your husband held you tighter.
“But you’re not,” you said quietly.  “You’re gone and I’m still here.  Without you.  I miss you so much, Aleksander, I miss you so much it hurts.”  “Oh darling,” your husband cooed, gently coaxing your face from his chest.  “I know.  I miss you too, Y/N.  But I’m still with you.  Every day, I’m right there with you.  You don’t see me, but I’m there.”  Your body shuddered as you sobbed, and Aleksander held you, gently stroking your hair, kissing your forehead, telling you how much he loved you.
“You have to wake up now, sweetheart.”  “I don’t want to,” you whispered.  “I don’t want to leave you.”  “I told you, darling, I’m always with you.”  He kissed you then, long and sweet, as reluctant as you were to let you go.
When your eyes opened, you were back in the Grand Palace, your cheeks wet with tears.  You managed to drag yourself from bed and prepare for the day, scrubbing your face and pulling on another of your plain black gowns.  As you made your way to the King’s council chambers, you noticed a shadow in the corner twist, and as you continued, you saw it trailing along the baseboard.  Tears pricked at your eyes, but they were happy tears, knowing that your Aleksander was still with you.  Even though you couldn’t see him, he was at your side, and so long as he was there, you could carry on.

Ask Richter and Co. is now open for business!
Somewhere, hidden out of sight in a dingy apartment in Tokyo, lurks a creature of the night... What will you ask of him?
You can find Richter's full story here. Character descriptions under the cut!
Richter Belmont
Age: 262
Species: Vampire
Occupation: Pretending not to exist
Hobbies and interests: Woodworking and carpentry, model building/gunpla, cooking, video games, listening to music, watching movies
While Maria and Alucard were successfully able to free Richter from Shaft's influence, his sins- unwitting though they may have been- did not come without a price. Castlevania's dark energy changed Richter, cursing him with an illness few other than the legendary Simon Belmont have ever overcome. Seven days later, Richter was dead; Seven days, several minutes, and a drop of blood later, Richter was undead.
Though Richter's family pledged to support him despite his newfound monstrosity, he knew his presence would only put them in danger. In order to protect his wife, Annette, and their young children, Richter left home, accompanied by Maria and their new friend Alucard. The three of them took up residence in Berkeley Mansion, an abandoned manor in the woods outside the town of Veros. There, the three were able to carve out a comfortable (if unorthodox) life for themselves.
Alucard and Richter soon became close friends, and stayed together through Maria's death, the burning of their home, numerous Dracula-related events, and finally, Alucard's pursuit of Dracula's reincarnation. The two now reside in a small apartment in Tokyo, where Richter spends his time attending to household chores and pursuing his hobbies.
Up until recently, his existence was kept an absolute secret; he's now known to several of Alucard's associates, but still avoids the Agency and their landlord.
Alucard (Legal name: Genya Arikado)
Age: 577
Species: Dhampir
Occupation: Office worker/paranormal investigator/vampire hunter
Hobbies and interests: Fashion, magic, literature, illustration, listening to music, video games
It seems the long-suffering child of Count Dracula can never have a moment's peace. Though Dracula is no longer a threat, and Alucard has long since come to terms with himself and his family history, he's now terrorized by an entirely different type of horror: employment. Gone are the days of galavanting through Europe, sword in his hand and sister at his side; now he endures miseries such as emails, meetings, and rent.
When he's not working or sleeping, Alucard can generally be found spending time with his friends and family, or participating in the local goth and visual kei scene.
Soma Cruz
Age: 19
Species: Human
Occupation: College student
Hobbies and interests: Video games, manga, magic and the supernatural, fashion
There are those who have expressed concern over Soma, the reincarnation of the dark lord, being left to his own devices. Those who know him, however, know that Soma's no more of a threat to humanity than your average young witch whose enthusiasm far exceeds their experience. Though he wholeheartedly condemns his past life's decisions, Soma is fascinated by all things related to vampires and magic; he is eager to learn all he can, and maybe just a little bit bitter that he can't turn into a wolf.
For many years, Alucard and Richter kept Soma at a distance, afraid of what would happen if he were to learn of Richter's existence and the truth of Arikado's identity. Fortunately, Soma took the revelation in stride. He greatly looks up to Alucard and Richter, and can often be found at their apartment, playing games or nagging them to teach him new spells.
Other Friends and Family
Mina Hakuba
Soma's best friend, a miko at Hakuba Shrine. Mina is no stranger to the supernatural, as her family’s shrine has long played a role in the fight against Dracula and other threats; though she lacks combat skills, her ability to keep a level head in the face of danger is impressive. Her kind heart, polite manners, and relentless determination have earned her many friends.
Julius Belmont
Richter’s great-great-something-or-other grandson. Though Dracula himself is no longer a threat, Julius is still active as a vampire hunter, dividing his time primarily between Japan and Romania. He can sometimes be a bit rough around the edges, but is a loyal friend nonetheless.
Yoko Belnades
Richter’s extremely distant cousin, a witch who works at a Latino-Japanese interfaith church in Tokyo. Yoko is a chatterbox and a bit of a gossip, but she knows how to keep a secret when need be, and is quite sharp-witted. Richter finds she often reminds him of Maria.
Maria Renard
Richter’s beloved little sister. An expert vampire hunter and powerful witch, Maria lived a long and eventful life, eventually dying of old age. Her spirit is a frequent visitor to Alucard and Richter’s apartment, always eager to stay involved in the goings-on of her lifelong housemates.
Annette Belmont
Richter’s wife, a headstrong woman who bravely defied Dracula. Though they lived separately for most of their lives, Richter and Annette maintained a devoted love for each other, and Richter has always regretted the pain his mistakes caused her and their then-young children.
Juste, Lydie, and Maxim
Richter’s parents. A rowdy yet inseparable trio. They accepted Alucard into their family just as openly as Maria, and though he was already an adult by the time they met, Alucard views them as having been far better parents to him than Dracula ever was. However, Juste is by far the most nosy of Alucard and Richter’s ghostly houseguests, and has a tendency to complain about any interior design choices that he finds distasteful.
Trevor, Sypha, and Grant
Alucard’s very first friends, and Richter’s distant ancestors. A rough-and-tumble group of misfits from medieval Wallachia. Though their visits are less frequent than others, they’re fascinated by “the future”, finding it both amusing and disturbing.
Dante
Alucard and Richter’s long-distance friend. A cambion devil hunter, and talented guitarist. He was Richter’s first (and, for many years, only) friend after Maria’s death. His carefree attitude belies a dark past not unlike Alucard’s own.

Things that went through my head while watching this episode:
--This is the episode when I can most look at Gyokko's eyes as eyes
--We were robbed of the chance to see Muichiro and Shinobu tag-teaming on a verbal slaughter of a demon
--That said, with how much I started wanting more Muichiro & Kanamori interaction in the previous episode, I was really, really, really happy to get it here. Kanamori's freak-out performance is a gem, and now I headcanon that in the immediate aftermath, Muichiro recovered in Kanamori's home so that he and his wife could look after him (and Kanamori could get to know him better, if only Muichiro weren't probably out cold (or hot?) for two days and then brought to the Butterfly Mansion where his temperature was recorded--but hey, the light novel gives me hope for more off-screen interactions).
--Haganezuka is such an MVP
--Kotetsu's calmness is so appreciated. He really is so stoic in a lot of ways, and wise beyond his years. ...Not always, of course.
--In the demon profiles in the second fanbook, their elimination is credited to the Corp members who killed them, though sometimes that credit is widely attributed if it was a group effort (for instance, everybody we focused on the Natagumo arc gets some credit in taking down Rui). In Gyokko's case, I think it's only fair if Kotetsu, Kanamori, and Haganezuka is get some credit in Gyokko's defeat. Muichiro wouldn't have survived without them.
--It really is Gyokko's bad luck he was the strongest opponent Muichiro has faced thus far, because that was part of what it took to push Muichiro to both a desperate point that tipped him over the edge in attaining both his mark and his memories. Gyokko was a goner against a genius with two power-ups, especially while he was already frustrated with a man like Haganezuka.
--Gyokko's final words about how he is a more perfect being than Muichiro sounded very Muzan-like, so I looked back in the fanbooks to double-check that indeed, Muzan rather likes Gyokko. Perhaps that it only due to selling his pots, because a one of my favorite 4-panel comics has Muzan very blatantly state that he doesn't care if Gyokko burns up in the sun, but I'd like to think Muzan found him likable for his own arrogance too. It was clear, of course, that Gyokko considers Muzan the most perfect being.
--This also reminded me Gyokko has a preference for eating children. Kinda ironic, dontcha think? Aside from being beaten by someone who is still practically a child, this battle could have been a lot darker if Gyokko took a hungry interest in Kotetsu.
--Ms. Tokito is pretty and I wish we got more of her. : /
--Muichiro is so many levels of child in this episode. Such a brat. The biggest brat. Snot-nosed, arrogant brat. BABY.
--I love how much this episode added little touches of humanity to Amane and her daughters; Ufotable really went for that. The struggle Amane, a mother of multiples, feels as he separates the twins' handhold. And then the narrative symmetry of having ghost!Yuichiro place his hand back on top of Muichiro's! Kya, I love it!!
--Speaking of love
--Mitsuri-chan, you may as well be the Angel Pillar. You are too sweet and graceful and wonderful for this world. That entrance, and it background music. That move wrapping the sword around one serpent and practically floating with the momentum as you use it to knock down the others. That cheerful assurance to your juniors. I love you. I love you right down to your peachy fingernails.
--Backing up a bit, credit where credit is due--Tanjiro is holding up amazing well and someone keeping minimally injured. He and Genya and Nezuko have been a significant help keeping him/them occupied this long, otherwise the damage to the village would have been far more wide-spread than just what the monster fishes did.
--Also, poor Tanjiro and Muichiro both have had to go this whole battle without shoes! Poor kids! And Nezuko too, those feet are just spares anyway.
--Genya is using those demon powers for more than just regeneration now! Look at him take on that serpent with his bare hands!
--I love how much Ufotable committed to making us feel everything Tanjiro went through in a series of very busy manga panels--his foot getting messed him, the damage to his ear and how that throws him off, and then that squeeze! It's easy to forget that happened in the manga because it was so quick, but with all those sound effects and darkness, they really sold how close he came to being mush. (Consider this practice, Tanjiro.)
--Thanks for the Rengoku feels, Gotouge. You crocodile.

☆I Need You☆

I know my girl @mjtheartist04 is going through a rough patch, and I wanted wife's spirits to be lifted up as we reach the holiday season!! I hope you don't mind a very quick drabble and doodle I wanted to give you in hopes of helping out, boo! 🥹🩷🩷
♡♡♡
Tired. Rika was tired. It felt odd to her to finally admit it, but she couldn't just deny it and keep her head up anymore... It felt damn near impossible.
It felt like the village was against her in that moment, she knew how upset and impatient they were beginning to grow the more she showed up empty handed without any sign of finding out the issue with the small town. Flocks of sheep were growing smaller and smaller as winter grew, and a few people had begun going missing even.
The dirty looks she'd get, the silent treatment, hell, just the other day someone straight up told her if she didn't figure this wolf crisis out, she might as well leave and never feel welcome enough to come back.
She stood in the dark, the cold, head tilted up to the dark sky, watching fresh snow begin to fall melting wherever her warm foggy breath wafted in the air, and snowflakes tickled her skin and cheeks, rosey from the cold nipping at her skin. The heavy layers of her crimson cloak didn't seem to help the deep, chilling ache in her chest, that felt as though it grew thrice in size with each shakey breath she took.
She felt like falling on the mucky ground, taking her defeat and sitting on the front steps of the Inn with her head bowed in shame, yet she stood there, unmoving, like some part of her was still hopeful, one sliver of dignity keeping her knees from giving out already.
"What are you doing?"
The familiar voice behind her caused Rika to jump, but she didn't turn to look who it was. "I'm not really sure." She answered him after a pause. She didn't try to hide the dryness in her tone.
Genya only responded with a grunt, his frown deepening as he stepped toward Rika’s side, unable to control himself from taking a few glances at her before she would notice. He seemed skittish and nervous, like if he moved a single inch closer, she'd break.
Rika heaved out a sigh, bringing a hand up to her face and rubbing the bridge if her nose exhausted, still haven't even looked at Genya while he himself wasn't able to keep his eyes off of her. "I just don't understand."
"I don't know what I'm doing wrong anymore... I thought I knew what I was doing, but the more I come back from the woods every time with nothing, the more I realize that... I'm not cut out for this..." Genya could see the guilt she'd practically pried off of him and placed on her shoulders. The guilt of something she thought was her fault when it was his. When it should he him holding this weight and taking the accountability... If she'd even let him, he'd carry hers twice the way.
His throat felt dry now, looking away to the ground ashamed, but his throat felt closed, his body and mind fighting to tell her everything, to let her know that she wasn't in the wrong.
"I should leave." The second Rika said it, Geyna perked up immediately, mouth slightly parted as though to interject, but no sound came out other than a small noise of alarm. "Rika -"
"It's obvious the longer I here, the more unwelcome I'll become." She spoke, her voice growing more shakey and fast, like nervous rambling.
"Rika, please just -"
"If anything, I'm harming more people the longer I'm hear giving them false hope."
"Rika -" "After everything they've done, and this is how I repay them?"
"Hey."
Genya's voice grew bolder, stern, enough to get Rika to fall silent, finally looking at him, and she felt almost ready to cry. His eyes were locked in hers, his face contorted into something that looked like irritation, yet his dark eyes gleamed with care and worry. Rika’s throat felt tight, and she bit on her lower lip to keep it from trembling.
Genya seemed to think for a second before his hand came up to the hood of her cloak, tugging the fabric a little between two of his fingers. His gaze softened, a look Rika had rarely ever seen in him before, a slow smile creeping up his lips that made the ache in her heart start to feel like fluttering butterflies in her ribcage.
"Hey..." He said, softer now, tugging the cloak just enough for it to fall from her head and upon her shoulders, the waves of navy locks tumbling down left him almost breathless, moving his hand to brush away her bangs ever so slightly, his fingertips barely grazing her forehead.
"We need you more than you give yourself credit. Whether they see it now or later, we're lost without someone like you there to protect us. I'm lost without you. I need you."
Would she ever know how true those words were? Would she know how her even being here was both a blessing and a curse to him? This girl doing everything to protect many others from himself, only to save him from his predatory nature at the same time?
He slowly pulled himself closer to her, his lips gently pressing against her cheek for no longer than a second, before he pulled away.
The rough sensation pressing to her cheek was enough ti get an alarmed gasp. His lashes fluttered against the corner of her eye and his nose tickling the side of her face. Her eyes widening ever so slightly as the warmth where his lips once were bloomed into a very vibrant blush trailing along her face, causing her drooping ears to perk up even.
It felt almost inevitable to fight a small smile beginning to grow on her lips, blinking away the glossy tears pricking the corner of her eyes, a shakey sigh of relief escaping her lungs after the band of guilt and overlooking emotions seemed to snap. But instead of flooding from her, it felt as thought it all just... Melted away.
"There's my girl." He said, his hand dropping back to his side as he grinned, almost proud, yet it seemed to almost he thanking her if anything. "Now let's get inside. I don't need you catching a cold and make me spoon feed you soup for the next week." Genya spoke, turning on his heel and heading up back toward the Inn, stopping and waiting for Rika to follow.
"Well if I knew that was an offer I might’ve just stayed out here a little longer." She joked, hurrying after him close enough to hear the scoff that followed from him.
"Don't push your luck." He seemed to scold, but Rika could.hear the playfulness in his voice, and practically hear the ghost of a smile grazing his lips.
She suddenly didn't feel so tired anymore, or her feet felt heavy. She didn't feel alone, or that the world was against her, cause she wasn't going to face it by herself, not without Genya by her side.
And who better to face the world with than him?

Ch-51 ~The monastery~
Upon entering the room, Anaya looked around with a wide-eyed gaze. The place was truly impressive.
It's not even a room, she realized. They were standing at the top of a hollowed-out mountain. She now understood that the frost fingers were actually enormous bronze columns cast in the shapes of people and creatures. They towered above them, bracketing huge panels of glass that looked out on the ocean of cloud below. The glass was so clear that it gave the space an daunting sense of openness, as if she could walk straight through and fall down into the abyss.
The room was teeming with people. Some bunched in groups where drafting tables and bits of machinery had been set up. Others were marking crates of supplies in a kind of makeshift warehouse.
Another area had been set aside for training. Soldiers sparred with dulled swords while others summoned Squaller winds or cast Inferni flame. Through the glass, Anaya could see terraces protruding in four directions, giant spikes like compass points, north, south, east, west. Two had been set aside for target practice.
This place had no comparison to the White Cathedral. Unlike that hellhole, this place was bustling with life. Anaya had never thought she would miss being among people so much.
“So much glass” She heard Alina whisper
“But no frost,” Mal noted.
Anaya found herself wondering the same, but David spoke out her conclusion before she could.
“Heated pipes” he said. “They’re in the floor. Probably embedded in the columns too.”
“There are boilers beneath us,” Nikolai said. “The whole place runs on melted snow and steam heat. The problem is fuel, but I’ve been stockpiling coal.”
“For how long?” Anaya asked
“Two years. We started repairs when I had the lower caverns turned into hangars. It’s not an ideal vacation spot, but sometimes you just want to get away.”
                   .............................................................................
Anaya was given a room that she was entirely grateful for. She was glad to have a place to herself. It wasn’t as big as her quarters at the Little Palace but it was nice enough. And more so, as she was finally in a place with windows. She changed out of her dirty clothes and put on a fresh pair that had been left on the bedside table for her. She went outside after she finished brushing her hair.
However upon going out, she found out that Sergei had apparently let Genya’s name slip, something they’d agreed not to do. Even though he was still grieving, he’d done a massive thing and had basically jeopardized their position with Nikolai.
A group of soldiers with blue armbands were making attempting to arrest Genya but David was standing by her side. Tolya and Tamar had blocked the soldiers’ way and the rest of them arrayed behind them. Anaya couldn’t see Sergei anywhere, which she believed was better since she would’ve strangled him if he'd been there.
“She’s here!” Nadia called when she caught sight of Alina approaching.
She went straight to Genya. “The King is waiting,” said one of the guards.
“Let him wait.” Zoya snapped back
Alina put her arm around Genya’s shoulders, leading her a little back. Anaya could hear her and Mal attempting to console Genya.
"The king demands her presence right this moment, they can't just-" one of the guards began
"She will present herself to the King when she is ready" Anaya cut him off, her voice having a familiar old jaggedness.
The three of them shortly returned to the group. David looked questioningly at Genya, and she reached out to take his hand.
“We’re ready,” Alina said to the soldiers. Mal and the twins fell into step beside them, but Alina held up a warning hand to the rest of them.
“Stay here,” she said, then added quietly, “and keep alert.”
Genya had conspired with the Darkling and had gone against the throne, even though she didn’t have much of a choice, though no one would ever be considering that. And she’d somehow attempted to poison the King. Surely he wouldn’t have liked the idea of her being alive.
When they’d come back down the hall, David was murmuring to Genya about the properties of vegetable alkaloids and such.  Genya appeared bolder and far more relieved than she’d been before leaving, which displayed that she might’ve not been charged with anything.
When Anaya had finally got the opportunity, she asked Genya as to what had happened. And she told her about how she poisoned the King, and how Nikolai had literally forced the King to write an abdication letter and exiled both him and the Queen to the southern colonies.
“Quite bold of him” Anaya spoke at the news. “But I’m glad you’re alright” she said to Genya pleasantly
“I’m grateful to Nikolai for it. I’m surprised but he’s actually a lot better than this family. And, he even seems to care for the way he dresses” She chuckled
After Genya pointed it out, Anaya also thought of how no matter the situation, the boy’s clothing was always immaculate.
“Well, if given the opportunity I’d be looking immensely endearing as well” She shrugged. “Not that I don’t do right now” she added defensively
Genya chuckled at her statement, “Really?” she raised an eyebrow, grinning
“Oh please, have you seen me in midnight blue?” Anaya said in a dramatic voice
“Maybe once this is over, I can have you try something in the colour and we’ll see for ourselves yeah?”
“Sure yeah” Anaya lifted a shoulder
                 …………...........................................................................
Anaya walked through the halls of the Spinning Wheel. She'd soon learned that the place had originally been a monastery of Sankt Demyan and had been an abandoned observatory until Nikolai had found a use for it.
The view of the massive mountains was quite daunting because of the height at which they were. However, she found herself being able to relax as it was far peaceful here, and it even provided her with the illusion of safety.
Anaya was observing the various sections of the place from the terrace when she heard a voice from behind.
“I believe you’re quite intrigued by this place” She turned around to see Nikolai in a long overcoat with his blonde hair shining in the sunlight.
“Well, it is quite impressive what you’ve transformed this place into” she said, raising her eyebrows
“Ah I know I’m very impressive” he began grinning
Anaya rolled her eyes, “Not you, just your work” she said
“Eh we’ll get there” he winced
She spoke after a short moment as a thought struck her mind, “Did you bring Baghra here?” she asked.
She'd heard of what the Darkling had done to her. How he'd punished her for attempting to save Alina. Though she'd heard from Alina that she'd asked Nikolai to take Baghra with him.
“Oh yeah. And I'm very much regretting it” Nikolai chuckled
“Ah so you've had the pleasure of conversing with her?” She raised an eyebrow
“She is a menace” He responded dramatically. “I wonder what method of torture she's found for Alina now”.
“Oh I'm sure it's far worse than her previous ones” she frowned
Anaya looked around at the massive glass windows as she began to wonder. "What kind of glass is this? It appears far durable than normal glass" she asked
Nikolai's face lightened up on her question. "It's actually not normal glass" he began with great enthusiasm. "I'll show you" he paced towards one of the windows. Anaya fell into step with him, paying close attention to his words.
"Instead of the usual alkaline silicate composition, it has potassium nitrate in high quantities, making it a lot more durable" he explained, gesturing to the window.
"Impressive" Anaya said, utterly fascinated
"It is" He beamed. "I was also intrigued by their structure when I first visited this place, so I did some research. It's truly impressive how well-built a monastery is" he paced around the windows as he continued.
Anaya was paying close attention to his words, when she noticed the significant number of people gathered near one of the terraces. She could pick out Harshaw's red hair amidst the crowd, and Oncat perched up on his shoulder. Zoya was standing behind him.
"What are they looking at?" She wondered, loud enough for Nikolai's attention to turn to her.
"Let's see for ourselves" He said.
They strode forward to find the crowd gathered around Alina, who was attempting to hack off the peak of a mountain by forming the cut.
She caught a glimpse of Baghra standing with her stick in her hand and a little boy by her side. Upon seeing Baghra, she realized how true Alina had been. Her smooth and flauless skin now appeared wrinkled and old and her shiny black hair had wholly turned gray. She appeared as if she'd aged several decades in the matter of a few months.
But the most noticeable and startling change was in her eyes. The irises that were once a gleaming black, now appeared hazy and clouded.
He has blinded her, Anaya realized with a slight tremor. She knew that the Darkling wouldn't have liked the idea of his mother assisting Alina in escaping, but she truly hadn't expected him to do something like this to his own mother.
Despite knowing one to be a monster, you can never truly anticipate as to what extents they might go to.
“It’s too far,” She heard Alina grumble. “And it’s huge.”
“It is not too far" Baghra sneered.  “You are as much there as you are here. The same things that make the mountain make you. It has no lungs, so let it breathe with you. It has no pulse, so give it your heartbeat. That is the essence of the Small Science.” She thumped the girl with her stick. “Stop huffing like a wild boar. Breathe the way I taught you, contained, even.”
Alina's face brimmed with embarrassment at her words. The woman had clearly not been devoid of her venomous words.
She closed her eyes and in a brief moment, lashed out with the Cut. It struck the side of the mountain, sending a sheet of ice and rock tumbling with a dull roar. A cheer went up from the crowd.
“Hmph,” said Baghra. “They’d clap for a dancing monkey.”
“All depends on the monkey,” Nikolai chimed in . “And the dance.”
“Better?” Baghra asked the boy.
“A little,” he spoke grudgingly.
“A lot!” Alina protested. “I hit it, didn’t I?”
“I didn’t ask you to hit it, I told you to take its head off. Again.” Baghra said
“Ten coins says she doesn’t make it,” called one of Nikolai’s rogue Grisha.
“Twenty says she does,” shouted Adrik loyally
“Thirty says she can hit the one behind it.”  Mal spoke, leaning against the archway, his arms crossed. “That peak is over five miles away,” Alina protested “More like six,” he said Alina focused her attention back on the mountain. When she brought her arm down, the arc she made shone bright as it pierced through the haze of the clouds. There was an echoing thunder at a distance. The sky seemed to vibrate. Slowly, the top of the far mountain began to move.
It slid inexorably to the side, snow and rock cascading down its face, leaving a perfect diagonal line where a peak had once been.
The crowd began to whoop and cheer. Anaya gave Alina an amused grin as her gaze met with hers.
The little boy was jumping up and down, crowing, “She did it! She did it!”
Anaya then glanced at Baghra again. She needed an answer for something that'd been nagging at her brain for a long while.

Recovery had been going smoothly. With assistance from the nurses you were up and walking that same night. After five days under the watchful eyes of Dr. Shinhwa and his team, you were able to go home with careful instructions and plenty of medication.
“Do you need anything?” Your fiancée had refused to leave your side since before the surgery, going as far as to request a temporary release from his duties so he could stay with you. “No, not right now. I’m okay. How’s Genya?” Sanemi suppressed the urge to roll his eyes knowing that ever since your focus had been removed from starting a family you had focused on having him reconnect with his own. “Himejma said he is good, he is currently on a mission with Tokito.” you hummed from where you were laid in bed, propped up by pillows with a book in your lap, having lost interest after a few chapters. Sanemi moved away from the wardrobe that he was shuffling through, taking a haori with him. “I am going to the market with Genkei, your muscle relaxers aren’t due until sundown so try and rest. I will be back shortly, ring the bell if you need Himiko. she’s prepping dinner but I’ve already asked her to keep an ear open for the bell. If you want to walk around I’m not going to stop you, but no stairs and absolutely no helping in the kitchen.” You nodded along with everything that Sanemi said, having heard this speech every time he left for the past week and a half since you got home. “Can I walk you to the front door at least?” You asked, already removing the blankets from your lap and swinging your legs off of the side of the bed. “Alright speedster, slow down.” he was by your side in a few strides, pulling your hands into his own to help you stand. Dropping your left hand he held tightly to your right one, walking slowly with you as you headed out to the front door. “Promise me you will call Himiko if you need anything, even changing your kimono, anything at all.” “Yeah, yeah, go on” You waved him off.
“No, Y/N. Promise” The furrow in his brows and the deep tone of his voice told you not to brush him off and agree with him.
“I promise to ask for help. Now please go help poor Genkei, he looks bored out of his mind standing out by the gates waiting for you.” With a sharp nod, Sanemi turned around and met the young servant by the gates to your estate. Things had undoubtedly been tense between you and Sanemi since your surgery. The times you were awake in the hospital you had just cried into his shoulder while apologizing. Since arriving back at your home the two of you didn’t speak about the weight clinging to both of your shoulders, choosing to focus on anything else. Of course that made you turn to the second most trusted person in your life. Himiko. The older woman had been working for Sanemi long before you ever came into the picture but she treated you as though you were her own daughter, fussing over you the first time Sanemi brought you to his home. She was a trusted confidant and an even better cook. “You look lost sweetheart” Himiko didn’t look up from the pot she was stirring as you shuffled into the kitchen, slow careful steps up to the island where you sat at one of the stools. “How do you know?” She added a few tomatoes from the plate sitting next to her on the counter, still stirring the pot. “You’ve looked lost ever since you came home. What’s wrong?” You let out a sigh. “I… Sanemi doesn’t trust me anymore, and I- I get it. I understand why. But I.” you paused, feeling the familiar constricting in your chest at the thought. The same feeling you get when Sanemi tries to talk about this. “How can a hashira proudly call me his wife when I am such a coward, I couldn’t even tell him how sick I was? I couldn’t ask for help, and I can’t even tell him how much it crushes me to think about the fact that I will never be able to have a baby. I get to see everyone else have children, it’s rubbed in my face daily down at the market, all the pregnancies and the newborns, even toddlers. There is nothing in this world I want more right now than to have one, to watch my stomach grow every month, and eventually wake up by Sanemi’s side and argue about who's going to change the baby! But I don’t get that now, I won’t ever get that.” The words were pouring from your mouth, frantically trying to escape after being kept in for so long. “Imagine finding a woman and thinking ‘this is the woman I’m going to have a family with, the woman I want to marry and grow old with’ only to find out guess what. You aren’t getting anything. Just her. He’s going to leave me now. We aren’t wed, he has the option still” You weren’t aware of the tears falling into a puddle on the counter until Himiko had placed a towel down.
“Sweetheart breathe” She spoke softly, pulling you against her chest. She swayed slightly, rocking steadily back and forth as you tried to gain control of your breathing and calm down.
“I- Himiko. I am broken.” She sighed, pulling back from you, pushing you to sit back up straight.
“I promise you, my child, you are not broken. There are many people who are unable to have children. I know it may seem like the world is falling, but when I say Sanemi does not resent you or hate you for this please believe me. Out of everything he is happy you are alive.” She smiled, her deep brown eyes pinching shut as she ran an affectionate hand down your back. “The night after your surgery when he came home he sat with me on the front engawa and asked me about you being sick. He was understandably upset, but not once did he mention children, his focus was on you. He will be upset for a while about you not telling him you were sick, he was very expressive about that. But give him time, just as he has given you. Focus on your recovery, for now, Sanemi will always be here” She smiled, pushing away from you. “Now let me finish dinner, Genkei shouldn’t be out long, I made up half of that list to get Sanemi out of the kitchen.” she chuckled and made her way back over to the stove, tossing more ingredients into the simmering mixture and ending the conversation.
“Can you believe this? Half of that was fake and it took 3 different merchants before we figured out that they were made up! Who the fuck does that? Crazy wench always trying to fuck with me” Sanemi was huffing as he and Genkei wandered back into the kitchen an hour later. “You! What the fuck is wrong with you? Fake ingredients! You made me look like the biggest damned fool at the market. Someone asked if I was feeling alright!” He was fuming as he dropped the basket of fruits and vegetables on the counter in front of you. “Himiko I don’t pay you to fuck with me I pay you to help me and my wife.” She turned around with an unamused expression on her face.
“I do help your wife, and you wouldn’t be able to find another housekeeper as good as me” She smirked, turning back to the pot of steaming tea. “Himiko finished dinner, we were waiting for your return my love” You spoke, interrupting the staring contest Sanemi was having with the back of the older woman's head. Placing a gentle hand on the scared texture of his arm you gestured towards the table. He glanced at the table, already set up for dinner.
“Alright, let's eat then” He held a hand out, waiting patiently as you stared at his open palm, the ring finger that held no ring. How would you bring up a conversation like the one that has your heart turning over. You took his hand, gentle hands guiding you to stand as he walked slowly to the table.
“Have you been here since I left?”
“in the kitchen? Yes. But I didn’t help. Not like Himiko would accept my help anyways. Stubborn.” He gave you a pointed look which you ignored, sitting as he pulled out your chair before walking across the table and taking his own seat.
“Miss Y/n and I were just having a chat, a very good chat, don’t you think?” you nodded along with the older woman. Focusing on the broth in front of you. Conversations like this were never easy and you would rather avoid them, but you can only run away for so long. Himiko knew that and you did too, which is why she pushed. Genkei showed up, taking a seat across from Himiko “I like to think this chat was very well needed” She hummed, between spoonfuls of soup. Sanemi looked between the two of you.
“Well, what did you talk about?” all eyes turned to you. You peered at everyone over your spoon.
“Um, well we talked about my recovery and we talked about how she made up half of the list” You smiled bringing more soup to your lips to avoid talking more. Sanemi didn’t look like he believed a word that came out of your mouth, unamusingly turning back to his bowl. Dinner had passed with Genkei reciting the entirety of his journey to the market with Sanemi, including with animated gestures the anger Sanemi had when he finally asked a clerk what all of the stuff on the list was, only to find out it was all fake. Sanemi sat quietly huffing into his bowl, almost reliving the moment at the table. “Genkei can you help me clean up?” Himiko asked after he finished his story, already standing and taking the bowls from the table. The younger boy nodded before standing and excusing himself. Sanemi was up from the table seconds later, moving to the empty seat right next to you.
“So what did you two actually talk about? You don’t lie often because you're terrible at it, you looked like you were ready to have a heart attack trying to avoid everyone's eyes” He chuckled at the blush that coated your cheeks. He was always perceptive, it was scary sometimes. “I’m not that bad” His eyes narrowed, unamused. He reached a hand out to cover yours which rested in your lap, stopping the fidgeting you were doing. “What’s going on?” he asked again. You took a deep breath to control your nerves, trying to push back the anxiety you felt blossoming in your chest. Meeting his eyes you spoke. “I feel so foolish. You are a hashira, one of the strongest men I have ever met. The things you do, and the power you have is something I would never dream of. On the other hand, you have me, your sickly little girlfriend who can’t even be honest about how bad I feel. I know I should have told you I was sick, but I didn’t want to burden you more when you are already fighting such a terrible war. Sanemi. I am holding you back and now, I can’t even provide you with a family to come home to. All I do is burden you and I feel so guilty” The end of your speech was watery, drowned out by the tears trailing down your cheeks. You could feel yourself crumbling, knowing that his next words were going to be along the lines of ‘your right, get out of my house and my life’ Where were you going to go? Your family was gone, there was no way you could work while recovering. Maybe Shinobu would take pity on you and house you until you recovered and then you could find somewhere else to work and live. This was a mess, you were a mess. “hey, breathe. Match my breathing, look at me shithead” Sanemi was trying to catch your attention as you hyperventilated between sobs, he had grabbed onto your shoulders, trying to catch your eye as he took deep breaths. “in through the nose out through the mouth.” He repeated as you tried to match him, taking slow deep breaths. Until you were less hysterical.
“Here sweetheart” Himiko had placed a cup of tea next to you, the steam washing over your face, drying the tears on your cheeks. You mumbled a thank you before turning back to Sanemi who had moved from holding your shoulder to holding your hands, still facing you.
“You will never, and I repeat. Never be a burden to me. That’s what I’m here for. You should lean on me, I’m always going to worry about you. I have lost so much and I’ll be damned if I lose you too.” He scoffed “When I saw you on the ground like that, in pain. I thought that was it, you were done. I was ready to rip the world apart and do anything to bring you back to me if I had to. You are stuck with me, you seem to forget about that little ring sitting on the wardrobe. But if I have to marry you tomorrow so you don’t forget then we better start finding you a pretty outfit.” His chuckle was watery, eyes lined with unshed tears. “I don’t need you to ‘make’ me a family, we have one. Look at this old coot and the dumb kid. Do you want me to call for Genya so you two can dress up in matching clothes? I can go steal one of the annoying kids from Kocho if it makes you feel better.” You shook your head, letting out a choked laugh at the absurdity of his confession. The anxiety you had faded from your body as he continued. “All I want from you is for you to be okay, for you to lean on me when needed. I may not always be here but that’s why I have these two idiots around. The annoying ones' wives really like you as well, I can invite them over for like a wife play date” you chuckled again, groaning as your stomach throbbed, the reminder of your healing wound. Sanemi meant well, even if his way of explaining it was, different. “Don’t cry. If you really want a baby we will find a way, but I want you to heal first, okay? Maybe we can speed up the wedding a bit so I can actually call you my wife and not get dumb looks. Okay? Let’s get you to bed so you can rest. You can’t take your meds for another hour.” You nodded, accepting the cloth from Himiko so you could wipe your face. “Thank you. I love you” “You don’t need to thank me, it's what I’m here for. I love you too, now come on, before Himiko starts crying too”

My Thoughts on the Swordsmith Village Movie!
Alright y’all, this goes without saying, but I’ll announce it anyway:
SPOILER WARNING FOR THE KNY MOVIE. IF YOU DON’T WANT TO BE SPOILED, DO NOT PROCEED. DO NOT PASS GO. DO NOT COLLECT 200 DOLLARS.
Anyway. Now that that’s said and done, let’s begin! Here are my favorite parts, in no particular order.
-GOTOU. GOTOU THE KAKUSHI. He’s always been my favorite background character; he only shows up a few times but somehow he is around SO MUCH for the key events in Tanjiro’s journey. His abdominal breathing to scream for the butterfly girls was fantastic because a) abdominal breathing really is effective to project, from a vocalist’s standpoint, and b) it goes to show that even if he can’t wield a sword or use a breath technique, he still understands the importance of proper breath support! Good for you, Gotou-san!
-My theater’s audience laughed the most at Inosuke hanging from the ceiling. That was a hit. I already knew it was gonna happen but I was laughing too because I was just so giddy!! They also really enjoyed the scenes of Tengen’s wives arguing while he’s dying of poisoning. A classic.
-ZENITSU IN HIS LITTLE SCARF. SHUT THE FRONT DOOR.
-But seriously, I enjoyed the scene of Zenitsu with the other slayers and Gotou with his Kakushi friend. It gives us a rare glimpse into daily corps life when one is not fighting extremely important battles against upper moons.
-They recapped bits from the previous episode in the beginning of the swordsmith village arc, so we got to watch poor Kagaya choking and gagging on his own blood TWICE, BACK TO BACK. Which, as much as I love him dearly and felt awful for him, it was kinda funny. Side-note, Amane is a GOAT for sticking with him and taking care of him during all of this. She’s a queen through and through.
-Mitsuri. Oh, Mitsuri, the love of my life. I want to kiss her little face. Her voice actor is so wonderful!! Watching her play with Nezuko and easily pick her up and hold her hand was so heartwarming!! Her little song about dinner made my heart sing too!! The little sparkle edits whenever she got excited!! Mitsuri-chan, please be my wife. Just, uh, don’t tell Obanai.
-Also, the hot spring scene?? Hello?? I had seen the leaks, but they didn’t do it justice. I was not expecting them to fully show her entire butt. With both cheeks. I was gripping the seat for dear life so I didn’t screech out loud. Ufotable really went for it with the Mitsuri fanservice, and as much as my feminist side wants to disagree with this, I am unfortunately too gay to care. I shamelessly enjoyed every second of it.
-Speaking of hot springs, the crow noise that Tanjiro made when he jumped in took me OUT. And baby Nezuko swimming by was SO CUTE I CAN’T TAKE IT. UGH.
-AND ALSO: GENYA!! I LOVE GENYA!! I’m so so excited to see more of him! The talk Tanjiro and Mitsuri had about his relationship with Sanemi made me sad, but then them worrying about him not eating enough and going to bring him some rice balls made it okay again.
-Speaking of which… why was Genya skipping his meals? Was he just avoiding Tanjiro and Mitsuri? Did he bring his own food like they hypothesized? Was his tummy messed up from eating demon, like Gyoumei always worried it would be? Seeing as he still had fangs, it had probably happened recently, and if demons can’t eat human food…am I over analyzing? I think I’m over analyzing.
-The snapping of Gyutaro breaking Tanjiro’s fingers in surround sound made the woman next to me physically recoil. Girl, same. Shit was nasty.
-NEZUKO SLITHERING AROUND UNDER THE TABLE LMAOO
-The little tease of Muichiro at the end. Come on man, I want MORE!! DON’T DO THIS TO ME!!
-The entire upper moon meeting. Wow. The animation was insane. Good lord, the infinity castle was wonderfully confusing! It was a little overwhelming with all the flashes and transitions, but it helped that Akaza was in just as much of a state of sensory overload as the rest of us. Man did NOT want Douma touching him on top of everything else that was rubbing his temper the wrong way, and Douma could not have given less of a damn. But wow, did they make Douma such a funny little dude!! Crawling all over the floor and flashing peace signs and such. How wonderful. The scene of Nakime immediately shutting him down was glorious.
-Not sure if I’m the hugest fan of the way they just. Blipped out? I guess I always imagined Nakime would make them doors to go in and out of the infinity castle, so it felt a liiiiittle underwhelming. But, of course, that’s just me.
-Akaza falling was sick as hell. I just know he thought he was super cool. Which…yeah, he totally was. What can I say, I love him. Akaza punching off Douma’s face only to immediately get in trouble with Kokushibo? *chef’s kiss*
-But…the credits. They left in all of the credits, which was just a teeny bit awkward. I was just sitting there staring at them (I cannot read Japanese and I saw it subbed) and anxious out of my MIND to see swordsmith village! (Which, the village itself looked gorgeous, by the way!) Still, I think it was absolutely worth the wait.
Overall, it was just such a fun experience!! I’ve never been to a movie on my own before, and I’m so glad this was the first one. It was so, so epic and I enjoyed myself thoroughly! Planning on going to see it again with my sister when she’s back in town. Easy 10/10 for me, because I just adored every moment with every character!! If you haven’t seen it yet, I encourage you to do so! :D

Tale of the Flower Hashira pt.6

Masterlist
Taglist: @violet-19999  @devilfleur  @anisa-lakay  @emtaz-art  Chapter 6;
“Wanna be my fourth wife Y/n?”
“Don’t you have three wives already?”
“Exactly, that’s why you’d be number four.”
You rolled your eye and parried his next blow. “Did anyone ever tell you how annoying you are Tengen Uzui?”
“You call it annoying, I call it flamboyant.”
“Different words for the same thing.”
Your banter went back and forth like the swing of your blades. As a for of teamwork or more likely, torture, the master had required you to practice with each and every one of the hashira. This week you had already sparred with Obanai and Gyomei, two grilling ordeals you'd rather not repeat. Tengen Uzui was not your type of person in any shape or form but something about his opposing nature challenged you. The afternoon sped by and soon you found yourself panting and out of breath from the day’s challenges. Tengen grinned at you and you made a rude gesture in his direction, it only made him chuckle. If only he would give up on the fourth wife jokes maybe the two fo you could be friends.
___
On your way home you saw a familiar flaming head bobbing  down the path towards you from your house. Immediately you broke into a run and came to a stop before him.
“Kyojiro?”
“I was hoping I’d see you before I left!” His voice was cheerful as usual, if not a bit tired.
“Do you have another mission?”
“Yes, I will return in three days if all goes well.”
“I’m sorry I wasn’t here earlier, now you have to leave…” After his confession that he liked you, it was hard figuring out how to act around him. It was all happening so fast, you barely even knew the man.
“I must confess I came to meet with your brother. I needed to speak to him after what happened the other day.” His words jolted you out of your thoughts.
“You went to see Sanemi? I apologize if he got angry with you or anything he has an awful temper.”
“No, no, nothing like that.” Kyojiro sighed. “Unfortunately, I must go now. But i'm very happy I got to see you. After a whole day of training and you still look so beautiful.” He lifted your hand to his lip and kissed your palm lightly. “Can I send you letters?”
You blushed and nodded. “Of course. I’d really like that.”
You could barely meet his eyes as he bid goodbye and took off on his next journey.
It was a half mile to your house and you already knew what was awaiting you at the end of it. You slid open the door to find your brother glaring at you. Despite his foul temper, Sanemi never took it out on you. Part of you thought it was because of the years of separation because he and Genya were always arguing and butting heads.
Sanemi stared at you sternly with folded arms. You looked anywhere but at him, the mat covered floor, the pile of Genya’s clean clothes on the line outside, anywhere but at your brother’s accusing eyes.
“Y/n, we need to talk.”
“I don’t see why.” You tried to move past him but he blocked your way. “Come on Sanemi, I’m covered in dirt from sparring with that annoying sound hashira, the least you could do is let me take a bath first!”
“Do you like Rengoku?”
You fiddled with your fingers while heat burned in your cheeks.
“You know I saw the two of you the other day, making eyes at each other in the rain. So just tell me, do you have feelings for him?”
“I… I do like him.” You tried to move past him but Sanemi stood his ground and kept you stuck in the doorway. “What do you want! I told you the answer now move!”
Sanemi poked your forehead and stared deep into your uncovered eye. “He came to see me today before he headed out on his next mission.”
“He what? Why would he…?”
“Rengoku wanted to ask me about you, obviously.”
“What did he say!” You burst out.
Sanemi poked your head again to silence you and then continued. “Your beloved flame hashira wanted to ask for my permission to pursue a relationship with you. Not like you’d care about that, but he certainly does. I’m the one who has to take care of your dumb ass so I’m glad he did.”
“Sanemiiiiii!” You flapped your arms at him but he held you by the head at arms length and continued talking.
“You probably don’t care what he had to say so go on and take your bath.”
“Tell meeeee!”
“You sure?”
“TELL ME YOU IDIOT!”
“That’s no way to talk to your elder brother, but fine I’ll tell you if that’s what you want.”
“SHUT UP AND TELL ME!”
“Well he apologized for not talking to me sooner blah blah blah. Then he asked if I thought you really did feel the same way about him.”
“What did you say!”
“I told him you don’t talk much and if you said or did anything you most definitely meant it. I got to tell him all about the stubborn piece of work you are and how once you really get comfortable with someone you have the capacity to go absolutely feral… like now…”
You continued pushing against his hand, trying to whack your older brother.
“I also told him I approve.” He let his hand go and you nearly fell onto the floor.
“You… you do?”
“Of course I do. He’s a good man, I couldn’t ask for anyone better to protect my little sister.”
You jumped and hugged Sanemi around the middle. “Thank you, Onisan.”
“Yeah yeah, you stink, go take a bath.”
You pulled away and darted down the hall.
“One last thing.” His tone changed, a hint of harshness creeping into his voice. “If you still have feelings for that boy and you think it would get in the way of your future with someone else then I suggest you break it off with Rengoku.”
Your hand unconsciously darted to the mark on your neck. The lines of the lotus seemed to itch and burn.
“It won’t be a problem.”
He nodded and you darted away.
