From under one of my posts, regarding Genya:

Now that I think about it, there would be an amazing story in it. A mix of show and (mostly) book canon- Ivan died, Genya helps loyalists just like @black-rose-writings wrote in her post, the Darkling gets the throne, making Genya his second-in-command in everything but name, using her spying experience and a net of friendly servants of Grand Palace (The King made sure there's plenty.), connecting her to his other networks (Hringsa anyone?).

The old Tsar eventually gets caught (No Genya- no tropical vacation.) in Spinning Wheel, but instead of simply killing him, the Darkling brings him to meet Genya- once a mere servant to do with whatever he pleases, now his judge and second most powerful person in Ravka. Unseen just like she used to be, but more dangerous than whole armies. She passed her judgement before, she tells him about the poison, but others he abused have not. Enter her loyal army of servants to deal with him however they see fit.

After the war, Genya's the one to charm nobles and foreign dignitaries alike. Mere Tailor, pretty thing during the day, grey eminence and puppeteer during night.

My horrible mind added: * and pegging David by night.

Oh, and the bitch Queen, obviously gets to be judged by Genya too. Wouldn't want ~her~ to get away with throwing a child to a rapist, would we? But I think the convent isn't such a bad idea. Some order like Silent Sisters in ASoIaF. With fitting visage adjustments. Her looks are all she cares about, so either keeping her long enough for permanent Tailoring, or traitor!Genya's nichevo'ya treatment don't sound bad...

Sometimes, I wonder if this scene wasn't more bittersweet than anything else for Genya.

He gets to see his friends happy and for the most part safe, he gets to see them smiling as they celebrate a win on their quest to turn Nezuko back into a human...but at the same time, he's seeing Tajirou and Nezuko have the loving, supportive sibling relationship he's been desperately trying to get back.

Nezuko's brother is caring and kind and affectionate and would do anything for her, and his brother despises him and wants no part in his life or accomplishments to the point of denying he even has a brother.

While we, the audience, know that is the farthest from the truth as you can get and it's just some warped form of miscommunication and Sanemi being utter dick at showing he cares and trying to do what's best for his sibling, Genya doesn't. He believes the act wholeheartedly and is willing to risk life and limb to earn his brother's love.

He sees Tanjirou giving Nezuko the same kind of smile that's in his most cherished memory of Sanemi, and I think that must sting to an extent.

This turned into a bit of a ramble, but it's still something I wonder about sometimes.

Finally finished watching Shadow and Bone.

I think if I hadn't read the books first I would have liked it a lot more. As a show on its own it was pretty good, but comparing it to the books made it feel wrong and way too rushed. The show has almost no sense of time passing, so it's like everything is happening all at once.

But the worst thing by far is what happened to David. What the fuck.
