These list are by no means the only complete filmed performances of these operas on YouTube, but I decided that ten links for each opera was enough for now.
By the way, some of the subtitles are just a part of the video, while others require you to click CC to see them.

questionable government spies but better written and five years late: a newsies multichap coming tonight, july 2, 2023 EST
hi hello. it’s me saph. back at it again.
the title is exactly what this looks like.
for those of you that were familiar with the first iteration of this story, welcome back, i’m so happy to have you. for those of you who are not, welcome to my long anticipated spies fic. this was originally published under the user @/suddenly-im-respecsable in about 2018-2019 (there is the early version still floating on tumblr but i have changed my url since and it’s not easily findable) and was cross posted on ao3 but was taken down
the basic gist of the story was that race and albert were fbi agents and were field training jack. they get summoned to nyc (where they were trained) to deal with some super hard gang case that no one can crack. in the process they meet spot who is working for said gang and wants out. davey jacobs is the head of the nyc branch of the fbi and hates race and albert because they almost blew up his weapons lab.
i think i got through 14 ish chapters before realizing the whole thing was badly written and in order for it to be what i wanted it to be i needed to redo it. and then i graduated high school and started college and changed fandoms and started dating my boyfriend and there was a global pandemic and then i graduated college and all of that.
and now, 5 years later, i am back on my bullshit, this time with a creative writing degree under my belt and @ainti-pretty to force me to finish what i started. the plot is all relatively the same, just a little tweaked. i never got to the point of all the plot twists so if you read the original version you have no spoilers besides some background knowledge that i am changing around a little. im working entirely off of my original hand written outline that is on the back of my notes from my 11th grade english class
and what motivated me to do this now you may ask? well i’m interning in nyc over the summer and can do irl accurate location mapping lol. that and i made a tumblr to literally post this story and i never finished it so i figured that i should probably do that. and if you’re doubting that this will get finished, which, fair, @ainti-pretty and i are literally living together next year and i am certain that i will be hounded about this every day of my existence
i am tagging people who i remember being very excited about this back in the day. if you want to be tagged in future parts of this please let me know. if you don’t just feel free to ignore :) @sun-kissed-star @getchapapes @jack-kellys @spot-conlon-king-of-brooklyn @fairly-awkward-trashcan @ritsunaru @heller-obama @turtle-steverogers @boygirlctommy @newsies-trash-queen @telling-tragedy @alberteatsglass
and since i have every ounce of this planned, here is my casting if you are interested:
92sies: mush, blink, davey
obc: spot, crutchie, smalls, medda, pulitzer
toursies: specs
proshot: albert, romeo, elmer, buttons, jojo, (anyone else i’ve forgotten is probably proshot)
uksies: jack, finch
race: weird combo of btc and giuseppe bausillo
katherine: a literal tiktok girlie
i am cross posting this on ao3, the tumblr version will all be tagged under #spies 2.0 and it will all me master posted and pinned on my blog.
im so excited :)) this fic is my baby and i want to thank everyone who has read it previously and everyone who will this go around. let me know if you want to be tagged !!

In the name of the father
Young Belfastian Gerry Conlon (Daniel Day-Lewis) admits that he was in London at the time of the incident. He also admits that he is not a model citizen, having committed a petty robbery while in London. He does however profess his innocence when it comes to the bombing of the Guildford Pub in London in 1974, the event which killed several people inside. A self-professed non-political person, he and his three co-accused, dubbed the Guildford Four, are thought to be provisional members of the I.R.A. Their self-professed innocence is despite each having signed a statement of guilt which they claim were signed under duress. Their case includes having provable alibis for the time frame of the bombing. And eventually, Joe McAndrew (Don Baker), a known I.R.A. member, admits to the bombing. Dubbed the Maguire Seven, seven others, primarily members of Gerry's extended family including his father Giuseppe (Pete Postlethwaite), are accused of being accessories to the bombing. Following on the work initiated by Giuseppe, Gerry works on a campaign to prove their collective innocence, this work with the assistance of compassionate lawyer Gareth Peirce (Dame Emma Thompson). As Gareth works on this campaign, she is faced with obstacle after obstacle placed by Robert Dixon (Corin Redgrave), who led the initial investigation and questioning of the four accused on behalf of the Police.

Vincenzo Costanzo joined the children’s choir of the Teatro San Carlo in Naples at the age of six. He made his debut as a soloist at the age of 11 in a contemporary opera, again at the Teatro San Carlo. He studied piano and solfège in a private school, and then obtained his degree at the local conservatory. At the same time, he graduated in Computer Engineering, continuing his singing studies with Marcello Ferraresi, and then perfecting his skills with Piero Giuliacci. Despite his young age, Vincenzo Costanzo has already won an Oscar Della Lirica (New Generation Tenor award) in Doha (Qatar) in 2014, and has had the opportunity to work with internationally renowned directors and conductors such as Myung-whun Chung at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice and in Tokyo, James Conlon at the Teatro Real in Madrid, Emma Dante at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo, Daniel Oren and Franco Zeffirelli at the Arena di Verona and Liliana Cavani at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona. His most recent engagements include Un Ballo in Maschera, Simon Boccanegra (Gabriele Adorno), Tosca (Cavaradossi), Maurizio Di Sassonia in Adriana Lecouvreur and Madama Butterfly (Pinkerton). Dear Vincenzo, thank you for accepting our invitation! Now you are at Sabbioneta, at Teatro all’Antica, for a new project: Giuseppe Verdi’s La Traviata, alongside Elisa Balbo and Luca Micheletti. What can you tell us about this project? How did this idea come about? How is it going on so far? Hello, dear readers of OPERA Charm. A few days ago we finished the shooting of La Traviata in the suggestive theater of Sabbioneta. It has been a wonderful experience, but unfortunately I can’t release any information about it because the project has not been announced yet. I can only give you a little spoiler: the technology used for audio and video shooting is totally innovative and unprecedented. You’ll hear about it soon. To go a bit backwards: when did you feel for the first time that opera is your path and who are those who guided your first steps towards the stage? What’s the moment that you consider to be the actual beginning of your career? In my family I am the only musician and artist. I have felt a vocation within me since I was a child. I took my first steps on stage at the age of 9 at the San Carlo Theatre in Naples and I identify the beginning of my career with the victory of the Voci Verdiane award in Busseto at the age of 21. You had the chance to work with Daniel Oren, Franco Zeffirelli, Andrea Battistoni, Leo Nucci, Juraj Valcuha, Giampaolo Bisanti, Francesco Ivan Ciampa and many others. What each “gesture” has thought you and which of them had the most important impact on you as an artist until now? I have been lucky enough to be part of the opera world since I was very young and every single person I have met during my journey has enriched me as a man and an artist. I could name a thousand episodes that have made me understand the sacrifice and dedication necessary for this ancient art. reposted from https://opera-charm.com/

#OTD in 1989 – After serving 15 years in prison, the “Guildford Four” are released in what is considered to be one of the biggest-ever miscarriages of justice in Britain.
On 19 October 1989, Gerry Conlon stormed out of the Old Bailey in London, with his sisters Bridie and Ann, and delivered an extraordinary, impromptu speech that has become iconic in recent Irish history: “I’ve been in prison 15 years, for something I didn’t do. Something I didn’t know anything about. I’m a totally innocent man – I watched my father die in a British prison for something he didn’t…

This is as nicely captured as can be expected from this show. There are several set pieces that obstruct the view of the action in certain places. There are about fourteen minutes of blackouts: most of the first seven minutes of act one, one and a half minutes of The Private and Intimate Life of the House, one minute of The Ball, three minutes of Balaga, one minute of The Abduction, and a couple other quick dropouts. It’s filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound is excellent. Includes curtain call and playbill scans. FORMAT: video CAST: Dan DeLuca (Jack Kelly), Jacob Kemp (Davey Jacobs), Stephanie Styles (Katherine Plumber), Zachary Sayle (Crutchie), Kevin Carolan (u/s Joseph Pulitzer), Angela Grovey (Medda Larkin), Jonathan Fenton (Les Jacobs), Eric Jon Mahlum (Theodore Roosevelt), Melissa Steadman Hart (Hannah) Newsies - First National Tour - January 8, 2016 (SunsetBlvd79's master) FORMAT:  MP4 (HD) CAST: Joey Barreiro (Jack Kelly), Stephen Michael Langton (Davey Jacobs), Morgan Keene (Katherine Plumber), Zachary Sayle (Crutchie), Steve Blanchard (Joseph Pulitzer), Aisha de Haas (Medda Larkin), Ethan Steiner (Les Jacobs) NOTES: Beautiful HD capture with no obstructions. This features the new cast that just took over the roles. Still a top notch tour and Joey has such a big beautiful voice! A+ Newsies - First National Tour - March 6, 2016 (kradder32's master) FORMAT:  VOB (with smalls) (SD) CAST: Joey Barreiro (Jack Kelly), Stephen Michael Langton (Davey Jacobs), Morgan Keene (Katherine Plumber), Zachary Sayle (Crutchie), Steve Blanchard (Joseph Pulitzer), Aisha de Haas (Medda Larkin), John Michael Pitera (Les Jacobs), Andrew Wilson (u/s Darcy) NOTES: A nice capture from the front orchestra, that results in some great close ups! This DVD gives you a perspective that most Newsies captures’ cannot. Zachary Sayle and Morgan Keene are huge standouts and gave fantastic performances. The action is followed nicely given the proximity to the stage, but some pieces of action have the focus delayed or are missed, as you can probably assume, dance numbers are hard to follow this close to the stage. Chaz gave a very funny BCEFA speech that is included (audio only). This capture is more wobbly than the (3/17) performance given where it was filmed in the theatre, near perfect audio that is synced with my Zoom H2. Newsies - First National Tour - September 11-15, 2016 (Pro-Shot's master) FORMAT:  MP4 (HD) CAST: Jeremy Jordan (Jack Kelly), Ben Fankhauser (Davey Jacobs), Kara Lindsay (Katherine Plumber), Andrew Keenan-Bolger (Crutchie), Steve Blanchard (Joseph Pulitzer), Aisha de Haas (Medda Larkin), Ethan Steiner (Les Jacobs), Ben Cook (Race), Nico DeJesus (Romeo), Anthony Norman (Oscar Delancey), Devin Lewis (Morris Delancey), Tommy Bracco (Spot Conlon), Iain Young (Finch), Jordan Samuels (Specs), Anthony Zas (Elmer), Sky Flaherty (Albert), John E Brady (Wiesel/Mr. Jacobi/Mayor), James Judy (Snyder), Kevin Carolan (Theodore Roosevelt), Chaz Wolcott (Buttons) NOTES: Filmed on stage in Hollywood Pantages Theatre on September 11 2016 followed by extra filming in 4 days. Distributed on dvd and online in 2017. Highlights are out of order and from multiple dates. Two files are just audios from October 16. The video is completely obstructed the entire time. Newsies - Ziegfeld Theatre - March, 2020 (Pro-Shot's master) FORMAT:  MP4 (HD) CAST: Dylan Brinkman (Jack Kelly), Boston Gunther (Davey Jacobs), Kenzie Stiger (Katherine Plumber), Max Carter (Crutchie), Kevin Ireland (Joseph Pulitzer) Next to Normal - Broadway - March 28, 2009 (Preview) FORMAT:  VOB (with smalls) (SD) CAST: Alice Ripley (Diana), J Robert Spencer (Dan), Aaron Tveit (Gabe), Jennifer Damiano (Natalie), Adam Chanler-Berat (Henry), Louis Hobson (Dr. Fine/Dr. Madden) Next to Normal - Broadway - April 4, 2009 (Matinee) (Preview) FORMAT:  VOB (no smalls) (SD) CAST: Alice Ripley (Diana), J Robert Spencer (Dan), Aaron Tveit (Gabe), Jennifer Damiano (Natalie), Adam Chanler-Berat (Henry), Louis Hobson (Dr. Fine/Dr. Madden) Next to Normal - Broadway - April 10, 2009 (Preview) (SunsetBlvd79's master) FORMAT:  VOB (no smalls) (SD) CAST: Alice Ripley (Diana), J Robert Spencer (Dan), Aaron Tveit (Gabe), Jennifer Damiano (Natalie), Adam Chanler-Berat (Henry), Louis Hobson (Dr. Fine/Dr. Madden) NOTES: Beautiful capture of the full original cast, from the orchestra. This hands down is the best capture of the original cast. This was done early in Alice's run, before she had strained her voice. Wonderful to revisit this show in all its glory! A+ Next to Normal - Broadway - March 18, 2010 (juniper47's master) FORMAT:  MP4 (HD) CAST: Jessica Phillips (s/b Diana), J Robert Spencer (Dan), Kyle Dean Massey (Gabe), Jennifer Damiano (Natalie), Adam Chanler-Berat (Henry), Louis Hobson (Dr. Fine/Dr. Madden) NOTES: Master: juniper47 (released under the name greekymuse on Yahoo) Next to Normal - Dortmund - 2016 (Pro-Shot's master) FORMAT:  MP4 (HD) CAST: Maya Hakvoort (Diana), Rob Fowler (Dan), Johannes Huth (Gabe), Eve Rades (Natalie), Dustin Smailes (Henry), Jörg Neubauer (Dr. Fine/Dr. Madden) Next to Normal - First National Tour - April 29, 2011 (SunsetBlvd79's master) FORMAT:  VOB (with smalls) (SD) CAST: Pearl Sun (u/s Diana), Asa Somers (Dan), Curt Hansen (Gabe), Emma Hunton (Natalie), Preston Sadleir (Henry), Jeremy Kushnier (Dr. Fine/Dr. Madden) NOTES: Beautiful capture with no obstructions. Sensational performance from Pearl as Diana. She is in my tops for actresses playing the role. Great tenderness and vulnerability with a strong big voice! Don't miss this one! A Next to Normal - Fürth, Germany - November 2, 2013 (musicalwasmyfirstlove's master) FORMAT:  VOB (with smalls) (SD) CAST: Pia Douwes (Diana), Thomas Borchert (Dan), Dirk Johnston (Gabe), Sabrina Weckerlin (Natalie), Dominik Hees (Henry), Ramin Dustdar (Dr. Fine/Dr. Madden) NOTES: Missing the first 10 minutes of Act 2 ("Wish I Were Here" / "Wär ich nur da") A great quality recording of the German version of "Next to Normal" retitled "Fast Normal" (Almost Normal). The cast is wondeful and got a standing ovation that lasted a couple of minutes. Next to Normal - Off-Broadway / Second Stage - February 11, 2008 (broadwayspunk's master) FORMAT:  VOB (with smalls) (SD) CAST: Alice Ripley (Diana), Brian d'Arcy James (Dan), Aaron Tveit (Gabe), Jennifer Damiano (Natalie), Adam Chanler-Berat (Henry), Asa Somers (Dr. Fine/Dr. Madden) NOTES: This is not a great DVD by any means; I was sitting there, producers were behind me, as well as Matthew Scott and Jacqui Polk in front of me, ushers on either sight lines behind me. I held the camera to my chest for the entire show and caught whatever I could. It is blind shot, so there is absolutely no zooms. First video of the original Off-Broadway run. Next to Normal - Off-Broadway / Second Stage - March 13, 2008 (broadwayspunk's master) FORMAT:  VOB (with smalls) (SD) CAST: Alice Ripley (Diana), Brian d'Arcy James (Dan), Aaron Tveit (Gabe), Jennifer Damiano (Natalie), Adam Chanler-Berat (Henry), Asa Somers (Dr. Fine/Dr. Madden) NOTES: This includes Alice's flip out in the beginning to replace all the Costco stuff. It was a fantastic show and an even better video than my previous 3/1/08 master. I shot it in a different style to showcase more of the stage (since you can only stare at someone's face for so long). Really emotional times in the theatre and you can hear sniffles in the camera. Recorded three days before the show was closed and rewritten. Next to Normal - Pre-Broadway / Arena Stage - December 20, 2008 (SunsetBlvd79's master) FORMAT:  VOB (with smalls) (SD) CAST: Alice Ripley (Diana), J Robert Spencer (Dan), Aaron Tveit (Gabe), Jennifer Damiano (Natalie), Adam Chanler-Berat (Henry), Louis Hobson (Dr. Fine/Dr. Madden) NOTES: Great capture of the PreBroadway engagement in DC, with no obstructions. I can't say enough about this show and this performance was hands down, lightening in a bottle! A Next to Normal - Pre-Broadway / Arena Stage - December 21, 2008 (SunsetBlvd79's master) FORMAT:  VOB (with smalls) (SD) CAST: Alice Ripley (Diana), J Robert Spencer (Dan), Aaron Tveit (Gabe), Jennifer Damiano (Natalie), Adam Chanler-Berat (Henry), Louis Hobson (Dr. Fine/Dr. Madden) NOTES: Excellent rare capture of the PreBroadway DC run. This is when the show finally found focus, took shape and fell into place. Such a remarkable and raw performance from Alice here. If you thought you have seen her best performance, think again! A Next to Normal - TheaterWorks Hartford - 2017 (Pro-Shot's master) FORMAT:  MP4 (HD) CAST: Christiane Noll (Diana), David Harris (Dan), John Cardoza (Gabe), Maya Keleher (Natalie), Nick Sacks (Henry), JD Daw (Dr. Fine/Dr. Madden) NOTES: Beautiful multicam proshot archive for theatre. Rebroadcast in 2020 during quarantine, introduction and watermark at bottom of screen. Really, a very nice, beautiful video. 'night, Mother - Broadway - November 6, 2004 (Preview) FORMAT:  VOB (no smalls) (SD) CAST: Edie Falco (Jessie Cates), Brenda Blethyn (Thelma Cates) Nightman Cometh - LA - September, 2009 (Pro-Shot's master) FORMAT:  MP4 (HD) CAST: Danny DeVito, Artemis Pebdani, Rob Mclhenny, Kaitlin Olsen, Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton Notre-Dame de Paris - France - 1998 (Pro-Shot's master) FORMAT:  AVI (SD) CAST: Hélène Ségara (Esmeralda), Garou (Quasimodo), Daniel Lavoie (Frollo), Bruno Pelletier (Gringoire), Patrick Fiori (Phoebus), Luck Mervil (Clopin), Julie Zenatti (Fleur-de-lys)

Pete Postlethwaite who’s not so much angry as disappointed, would have been 75 today. A few of his films.
Giuseppe Conlon in In the Name of the Father. D: Jim Sheridan (1993). As the father of an Irish hippie (Daniel Day Lewis) whose confession under torture for a pub explosion causes the police to arrest him as well, the veteran English character actor is both stoically angry at the miscarriage of justice and pettishly aggrieved with his son (Sheridan took factual liberties to have them share a cell) When his health is failing and he despairs that he’ll leave his wife behind Day Lewis says “Look, you are not going to die alright? If you do, sure I can look after Ma alright.” “You think I’d leave Sara in your care?” he replies, rallying, “You haven’t the maturity to take care of yourself, much less your mother.”
Kobayashi in The Usual Suspects. D: Bryan Singer (1995). We don’t find out who criminal mastermind Keyser Soze is until the end of the movie but the task of getting across his frightening malice falls to Postlethwaite and with a glowering menace he does just that. “Get your rest, Gentlemen,” he tells the criminals he has muscled into a job, “The boat will be ready for you on Friday. If I see you or any of your friends before then, Miss Finneran will find herself the victim of a most gruesome violation before she dies. As will your father, Mr. Hockney, and your Uncle Randall in Arizona, Mr. Kint. I might only castrate Mr. McManus’s nephew, David. Do I make myself clear?”
Danny Ormondroyd in Brassed Off. D: Mark Herman (1996). In a tragicomedy about a mining community decimated and dispirited by a pit closure, Postlethwait is a brass band leader trying to keep his people together as the town falls apart. Their competition and victory in a competition, for a change isn’t put forth as an end to their troubles. I’m usually not keen on films that end with long exhortations but Postlethwaite’s speech at the end. “Us winning this trophy won’t mean bugger all to most people” he starts. “But us refusing it – like what we’re going to do now – well it becomes news doesn’t it?” He goes on to tell the story of how Thatcher’s government destroyed their industry “all in the name of progress. And for a few lousy bob. Most of these men lost the will to win a while ago. But when it comes to losing the will to live, to breathe, the point is – if this lot were seals or whales, you’d all be up in bloody arms. But they’re just ordinary common-or-garden honest, decent human beings. And not one of them with an ounce of bloody hope left. Oh aye, they can knock out a bloody good tune. But what the f— does that matter? And now I’m going to take my boys out onto the town.” It’s less an inspirational speech than a howl in the dark, and Postlethwaite doesn’t miss a note.
