what is a therian?

Hello!! it's me weevilll:3333

it thought i would clear up what a therian really is for my mutuals that don't know what we are.

REMEMBER! everybody's experience with therianthropy is different!

A therian is someone, who identifies on a non physical level as an animal, but sometimes, a therian can identify on a physical level. Im using a few paragraphs from @mx-werebat 's "understanding physical alterhumans", they said this: "a physical alterhuman is someone who identfies as an alterhuman on a physical level, much like the name entails.This can be experienced in many forms, and includes (but is not limited to!): being able to transform into an alterhuman being, the body being alterhuman, the "human" appearance being a veil or glamour, an alter in a collective who views the body as them when in front, etc." This level could be spiritual or psychological (For me it's spiritual.) Therians do not act like animals every second of their lives, by this i mean in ways such as using a little box or eating cat food! When you are a therian, you feel a strong, spiritual, physiological or physical connection and sense to an animal, and feel as though that you are that animal. Different things that therians can experience are phantom limbs such as teeth, tails or wings. Therians can also experience what is called a "shift." A shift is when a therian has a sudden and intense urge to act like a theriotype they have. For example, a grizzly bear therian might have a shift where they feel their phantom ears, or they have the urge to hunt in the river like a bear would. Another kind of shift is a Dream shift, where a therian has a dream where they are an animal. Some therians do have past lives as the animal(s) they identify as, and some do not. (i don't have any past lives that i know about.) And some therians might not have shifts or phantom limbs, and that's totally okay! As i said before, everyone's experience with theriantropy is different! And there is no limit to the amount of theriotypes you can have. this is not a choice, and it is out of the persons control. Another kind of therian is a Omnitherian (that's what i am!) This is when their identity constantly changes from one animal to another, and there is no limit to the different kinds of animals this person may have as their theriotype. Theriantropy is not always inherently a "delusion", but those who experience delusions are still 100% valid therians.(THIS IS NOT ALL PEOPLE!! please keep in mind that I AM NOT A DOCTOR!!)

Comfort Crowd

The six eared macaque was alone, always has been. Ever since His revival, ever since He helped Mk defeat the lady bone demon.. He was alone. No longer had chains to pull Him down, to make him panic and do things He never once wanted to do. So He roamed the mortal realm in search for something interesting to do. He roamed the city first, He didn't have that chance when the lady bone demon had His tail in a twist, so He decided to do just that. Putting on a glamour and stealing a cheese tea from a vendor and walking away swiftly, He suddenly bumped into someone, spilling his cheese tea a little, He groaned, looking at who He seemed to bump into. Seeing Your frame made Him raise His brow, You were.. interesting, timid, too. "I'm sorry!- I didn't see you, oh my goodness I'm so sorry" You took out some wipes from your bag, wiping the cheese tea on His scarf He cringed at that, pushing You gently "hey, its okay" He grabbed the wipes from Your hand gently, grazing Your fingers for a second.. wow, weren't You just soft. He wiped the cheese tea off His scarf, He smiled gently at you. You apologized yet again, His ear twitched. "as I've said, its fine..Mx..?" You soon said Your name, His ear twitched at Your finger picking. He smiled yet again "well, Mx.L/N, I should be the one saying sorry to You, I was the one who bumped into You first" You shook your head "no, no, its fine, we both couldn't have seen it coming haha..ha.." Awkward silence filled You two, until You spoke again "well.. I should be going now" you smiled at him He rose his brow at Your smile, the way Your lips curled perfectly and the way it complimented the rest of Your features made Him interested He smiled back "alright then, Mx. L/N, see You around" He moved first, moving away from You as You did the same. That was nice, having to talk to a human without them being afraid. A few days have passed and He found himself stalking you. He didn't know why, He just did after a few days of not having anything to do. If you're wondering how He knows where you live then it was easy, really. He just listened to your voice. He knows it's weird to remember your voice after just a short conversation, but what can he do? He just remember's your voice. He saw you listen to some calm music and would sometimes listen with you, through a window, on your roof. He also loved how it was in a low volume, He appreciated it. Soon enough, He built up enough courage to encounter you face to face again. You were sitting on a bench, enjoying a book before He at next to you "oh hey, Mx. L/N, was it?" Your head shot up to the sound of his voice You squinted and blinked for a second before smiling "oh, its you, hello cheese tea man" He cringed at that "call me Charlie" You tilted your head "Charlie? sounds western" He seemed to unconsciously follow your movements, tilting his head too "The other half of my family are western" He shrugged, and you giggled. he rose his brow "whats so funny?" he smiled and you looked at him "my family is western too.." you then covered your mouth "but i don't think charlie is a fitting name for you" His brow twitched, tilting his head to the other side "what do you mean?" you hummed "you don't look like a charlie" he rose his brow again and chuckled "yeah?" you smiled "yeah" and that was the start of a friendship that flourished. You've learned that he wasn't really human, and he was the six eared macaque that you've read in the book journey to the west. You both grew closer over time, eventually inviting each other to your homes(mainly yours since his place was just a dojo) Every now and then you'd invite Macaque into your place to watch and hang out, and there was this one time where you were just in your room, laying down with music in the background "The music sounds western, who wrote it?" you smiled, never taking your eyes off your book "just some indie songs, specifically Conan gray"

His ears twitched at the music "Sounds good" he whispered to himself suddenly, comfort crowd started to play and you both were suddenly.. tired, huffing, he laid on the floor, with his hands behind his head and he looked stiff, you frowned "hey, macaque" "hm?" "do you want to lay with me?" He rose his brow and laughed "at least take me on a date first" You threw a pillow at him and laughed "not like that, you perv" you sat up and patted the bed, he stood up and hesitated for a bit, before lying down with you. You ended up liking his warmth and chose to be greedy, cuddling with him now. Macaque was confused on what to feel, but he felt.. nice, it felt nice to have someone this close sometimes. He sighed happily, playing with your hair. Soon enough you fell asleep in his arms. He smiled softly, putting a strand of hair behind your ear. Maybe he didn't need a crowd for comfort, he just needed you.

Maria ran up to Shea. “Hey!-“ she smiles. “Why’d you want to meet here?” Maria sits down next to him on the bench.

“We need to talk.” Shea starts, avoiding eye contact. “We are talking, silly. Get to the point.” She lifts his head up to face her.

“…I can’t keep doing this.” Shea says.

“…”

She let go of his face.

“Please don’t be mad-“ Shea winces. “Why?” Maria asks. “Did I do something wrong?” She tilts her head.

“..No..My parents just-“

“They fucking hate me?”

“My parents hate your dad-“

“WHICH ONE? IS IT MY FUCKING FAULT?!”

“They dislike Thiago due to a history between him and Alab. I.. I’m sorry. Please don’t take this personally-“

“Oh, what could he have done that would make them that upset with me?!”

“Ask your dad. Please believe me, Maria, if it were my choice-“

“…bye Shea.”

She ran off. Don’t cry.

To her house. Don’t cry.

into her room. Don’t cry.

She slammed her door.

“Maria…?”

Her father, Dashawn, was behind the door. “Are you okay, dear?” He asked.

“Shea broke up with me.”

“Now, why would he do that? You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to him.”

“He said his parents didn’t like Dad.”

“…oh. OH.”

“..What did Dad do that made them so upset??”

Dashawn gulped. “Well… we were going to pretend none of this happened when he and I got married. Turning over a new leaf. When he was in high school, Thiago wasn’t exactly the most active in terms of schoolwork. Even to the point of making Mx. Cruz do some of his papers for him. And… then he stole a paper from them that was going to affect their future. I’m retrospect, it wasn’t a very good thing. Even worse is how he profited off of it. It’s understandable how they dislike him, but that’s no fair to force Shea to break up with you. You both weren’t involved at all with anything.”

“…”

“…Maria.”

“WHY DID YOU NOT FUCKING TELL ME THIS? WHY IS NOBODY EVER UPFRONT ABOUT ANYTHING.”

Maria walks over to her mirror. She remembered dying her hair with purple tips because she wanted to be like her dad. Now.. the glamour of it in shambles. She heard Dashawn walk away. He always decided to give people time when upset. At least he’s not a scumbag.

Maria collapsed onto her bed and called Irene.

“Ireneeee…” she was sobbing.

“Maria, are you okay? Do I need to head over there?” Panic was all in their voice.

“yes please..”

Hey! I hope you're feeling better!

Wonho leaving has had me a bit down lately, too - that plus trying to get ready for the holidays, it's honestly crazy!

I'm really hoping this proves to be a nice break for him, he's done so much in the past few years! I'm sure Wonho will come back better than ever.

Libido is what got me to stan OOO, too! The acting & the storyline really got me - but also musically they're so talented? The song itself blew my mind the first time I heard it! Also the choreo!?!?!? OOO really is a one of a kind group IMO.

I've never heard of k-ville, I'll have to check it out! Keeping track of new releases can be hard, so I'll have to look into it.

Those are all great groups you listed!! I've been following the Omega X situation and it's honestly so sad - as much as I love their music I'd rather them get out and be safe than stay stuck in that awful company.

Also TAN is soooo good! Du du du is one of my favorite debuts this year - and Walking on the Moon is probably one of my favorite comebacks! I really hope they have a long career. Honestly all those groups you listed are great!

Ooooh MX in a supernatural concept.... I'd love to see them tackle that. Werewolves would be great! Did you see they're having a comeback in January!? I'm thrilled - no clue what it'll be like but honestly I'd love to see something darker from them.

Favorite Monsta X era: I feel like my answer to this will change every other week because it's so hard to pick! Right now I'm gonna say Shootout. Shootout has some of my fave MX choreo, and I loooooooooove Wonho with black hair.

Fave photoshoot: I think their photoshoot for Fatal Love might be my favorite! The suit looks... Monsta X can really pull of a suit.

Hobbies: Reading & video games are probably my two big ones! I also like journaling, but I'm not super consistent with it lol

Favorite movie: Halloween! I really like horror films

Favorite Food: Lasagna

Favorite season: This one's hard! I want to say Winter, but there's something about Fall that I really love. Can't really pick between fresh snow and leaves changing

Tea or coffee: Coffee - I need coffee to survive lol I probably drink way too much of it but oh well!

Hey!!I am feeling better! But I will feel better once I hear from him, lol.

In all honesty real life has distracted me enough, with the holidays approaching and all. Do you celebrate? Or do you have any plans in general? It is a busy season anyways, lots of gatherings and parties and stuff…

From ooo i have also really liked all the solos that they have been releasing lately. My favourites are Begin and Be Free, but they all are very good! As you said, they do a lot of work, from producing, to the choreo, they are very unique and that’s what attracted me immediately.

I know we’re he for the monstas, but it makes me really happy to have more in common musically speaking. Music is very important for me and it has been years since I have felt like this. I do like rock from the 80s and indie and grunge from the 90’, even some more recent emo bands, but most of the new western music (or even music in my language, i despise reggaeton, and that’s all people seem to listen to nowadays) so when i discovered kpop I was blown away by everything, the concept, the songs, the voices, the clothes, the choreos and I am perfectly aware of the terrible things that the kpop industry hides behind the glamour ad I hate that there’s no way to support your idols without supporting these problems, but still I love the music and I’m happy with that.

I loooove dark and sexy concepts and that’s something the Monstas do very well. I mean the darkest I have seen was Voodoo doll by VIXX and that was just a cultural reset. I would love to see some more of that.

Favorite Monsta X era: I will say Love killa, cause that is the era that got ge to stan them HARD, and from the eras with Wonho, definitely Alligator! I love how he looks all the time, and that bubblegum pink hair drives me insane

Fave photoshoot: the third photobook from the FOLLOW albums, it’s just my jam, i love all the pictures, all of them.

Hobbies: Reading & handcrafts. Tho I haven’t touched a book in so long I mostly read fanfics, lol

Favorite movie: portrait of a lady on fire. I love that movie, it makes me feel so many things, also Bram stoker’s dracula. I do love horror movies too!!! Now with age i have become i bit squeamish, but I do love gothic and supernatural horror (I am more of a Freddy kinda gal.)

Favorite Food: possibly sushi

Favorite season: Fall, all the way. The crisp air, the leaves the wind…

Tea or coffee: tea! Coffee upsets ,y stomach and I don’t like bitter flavours…

Ooof, the week long vacation….i’d go to a place I’ve never been. Probably Iceland, there’s something about that country that calls to me and I would love to see the landscapes, and feel the (probably shit weather), also I love countries where they believe in elves and fairies (tho they'd never admit that)

I have never thought about MX collabs…. I mean I do not think they’d particularly fit with a western artist (tho so far my fav collab is the one they made with Sebastian Yatra) but also in Korea… they are so unique that I have trouble imagining something that would be epic.
