“Before the Passover celebration, Jesus knew that his hour had come to leave this world and return to his Father. He had loved his disciples during his ministry on earth, and now he loved them to the very end. It was time for supper, and the devil had already prompted Judas, son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus. Jesus knew that the Father had given him authority over everything and that he had come from God and would return to God. So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him. When Jesus came to Simon Peter, Peter said to him, “Lord, are you going to wash my feet?” Jesus replied, “You don’t understand now what I am doing, but someday you will.” “No,” Peter protested, “you will never ever wash my feet!” Jesus replied, “Unless I wash you, you won’t belong to me.” Simon Peter exclaimed, “Then wash my hands and head as well, Lord, not just my feet!” Jesus replied, “A person who has bathed all over does not need to wash, except for the feet, to be entirely clean. And you disciples are clean, but not all of you.” For Jesus knew who would betray him. That is what he meant when he said, “Not all of you are clean.” After washing their feet, he put on his robe again and sat down and asked, “Do you understand what I was doing? You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and you are right, because that’s what I am. And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you. I tell you the truth, slaves are not greater than their master. Nor is the messenger more important than the one who sends the message. Now that you know these things, God will bless you for doing them.” John 13:1‭-‬17 (NLT)

I'm sure Peter couldn't fathom why Jesus was washing their feet, but Jesus told him that one day he would understand just what it meant. The huge significance of so simple an act.

Maundy Thursday, the eve of the last day of Jesus' life on Earth before His crucifixion. You wonder what Jesus must have been thinking. He knew his time had come and He was leaving those He'd spent so much time with and loved so well. Can you imagine that last meal? There would be happiness at being with His friends and sorrow at leaving them; but Jesus knew He had a duty and out of love for His Father and for His sheep, He would do what He had to do, if that was His Fathers will. (Luke 22:42)

“The word "maundy" comes from Latin meaning "mandatum" which translates to "command". Jesus gave his disciples a command to love one another. On Maundy Thursday, Jesus displayed his servanthood and love, and prophesied of his death. It was on the evening of Maundy Thursday that Jesus retreated to the Garden of Gethsemane to pray.” —Bible Study Tools

At the Passover, Jesus did an amazing thing, He showed His disciples His love for them by washing their feet. In Biblical times, people went about the dusty land in open sandals. Usually servants washed the feet of guests as an act of hospitality. Here, their Master knelt like a servant to wash His disciples feet - to show them His love and to show them the way to love others after He had gone - by serving them. This man, who had all the power in the world, knelt like a servant. This is the greatest story, the salvation of all people. By one man. The greatest man to ever live.

Jesus, our Saviour.

All glory to Him and to His Father, our Heavenly Father, our God, who gave Him to us. Because He loves us that much. It is a humbling thought.

God's love is constant, not fickle. #declaringgodslove - Not all addiction is bad for you. Some are good. Take God's love for example, it's a good addiction. If you can get rooted and grounded in it then you won't suffer with insecurities. Then you won't have to be defensive in any situation. I heard of a gentleman who married his wife. Both from different backgrounds. The man a bit more steady and committed to loving his new bride. The woman a bit insecure having watched her mother suffer in the hands of her father. This affected her and somehow stored away i her mind. She had decided that she was not going to allow any man take advantage of her. . . So when she first got married, she had rules: her husbend cannot open her letters because they're private to her and shes a private person. Opening her letters is too intrusive for her. Her husband trying so hard to be understanding told her she was allowed to open his letter and initially she didn't understand him but as time went by, she slowly adjusted dnd embraced her husband's love. On one of their reminiscent days, her husband confessed that he used to just pray and pray to God about his wife. He wanted a united and loving family. He told her if he was not secured in who he is in Christ, He would have walked out on her. Oh there is something about addiction to God's love. It makes you feel good too. So in trying to embrace God's love for you, why not try and get hooked, addicted to His love because in it you can find security for now and for the future. Let's make this declarations of faith together. Speak the Word of God Over Yourself and Change Your World for the best I declare my addiction to God's love, it is security for my soul and the assurance for my future.
