Rank Math Sofortige Indexierung

Read the full article

Pegasus 1.2: High-Performance Video Language Model

Pegasus 1.2 revolutionises long-form video AI with high accuracy and low latency. Scalable video querying is supported by this commercial tool.
TwelveLabs and Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced that Amazon Bedrock will soon provide Marengo and Pegasus, TwelveLabs' cutting-edge multimodal foundation models. Amazon Bedrock, a managed service, lets developers access top AI models from leading organisations via a single API. With seamless access to TwelveLabs' comprehensive video comprehension capabilities, developers and companies can revolutionise how they search for, assess, and derive insights from video content using AWS's security, privacy, and performance. TwelveLabs models were initially offered by AWS.
Introducing Pegasus 1.2
Unlike many academic contexts, real-world video applications face two challenges:
Real-world videos might be seconds or hours lengthy.
Proper temporal understanding is needed.
TwelveLabs is announcing Pegasus 1.2, a substantial industry-grade video language model upgrade, to meet commercial demands. Pegasus 1.2 interprets long films at cutting-edge levels. With low latency, low cost, and best-in-class accuracy, model can handle hour-long videos. Their embedded storage ingeniously caches movies, making it faster and cheaper to query the same film repeatedly.
Pegasus 1.2 is a cutting-edge technology that delivers corporate value through its intelligent, focused system architecture and excels in production-grade video processing pipelines.
Superior video language model for extended videos
Business requires handling long films, yet processing time and time-to-value are important concerns. As input films increase longer, a standard video processing/inference system cannot handle orders of magnitude more frames, making it unsuitable for general adoption and commercial use. A commercial system must also answer input prompts and enquiries accurately across larger time periods.
Latency
To evaluate Pegasus 1.2's speed, it compares time-to-first-token (TTFT) for 3–60-minute videos utilising frontier model APIs GPT-4o and Gemini 1.5 Pro. Pegasus 1.2 consistently displays time-to-first-token latency for films up to 15 minutes and responds faster to lengthier material because to its video-focused model design and optimised inference engine.
Performance
Pegasus 1.2 is compared to frontier model APIs using VideoMME-Long, a subset of Video-MME that contains films longer than 30 minutes. Pegasus 1.2 excels above all flagship APIs, displaying cutting-edge performance.
Pricing
Cost Pegasus 1.2 provides best-in-class commercial video processing at low cost. TwelveLabs focusses on long videos and accurate temporal information rather than everything. Its highly optimised system performs well at a competitive price with a focused approach.
Better still, system can generate many video-to-text without costing much. Pegasus 1.2 produces rich video embeddings from indexed movies and saves them in the database for future API queries, allowing clients to build continually at little cost. Google Gemini 1.5 Pro's cache cost is $4.5 per hour of storage, or 1 million tokens, which is around the token count for an hour of video. However, integrated storage costs $0.09 per video hour per month, x36,000 less. Concept benefits customers with large video archives that need to understand everything cheaply.
Model Overview & Limitations
Architecture
Pegasus 1.2's encoder-decoder architecture for video understanding includes a video encoder, tokeniser, and big language model. Though efficient, its design allows for full textual and visual data analysis.
These pieces provide a cohesive system that can understand long-term contextual information and fine-grained specifics. It architecture illustrates that tiny models may interpret video by making careful design decisions and solving fundamental multimodal processing difficulties creatively.
Restrictions
Safety and bias
Pegasus 1.2 contains safety protections, but like any AI model, it might produce objectionable or hazardous material without enough oversight and control. Video foundation model safety and ethics are being studied. It will provide a complete assessment and ethics report after more testing and input.
Hallucinations
Occasionally, Pegasus 1.2 may produce incorrect findings. Despite advances since Pegasus 1.1 to reduce hallucinations, users should be aware of this constraint, especially for precise and factual tasks.

Favorite iOS Safari Extensions
On iOS (iPhones and iPads), Safari is the undisputed leader of the browsers, primarily because Apple puts very tight restrictions on other browser apps that makes it very difficult for them to offer the same features that Safari does.
Thankfully, you can install extensions to tweak Safari's behavior and customize websites, as long as your device is running iOS 15 or higher. Here are the Safari Extensions I use on a daily basis. Many are free (or at least have a free version), and all work on both iPhones and iPads.
For desktop computers and Android phones, you can also check out my recommendations for Firefox addons)
Last updated March 2025 (fixed broken Bypass Paywalls Clean links, added StopTheMadness)
Index:
AdGuard
Noir
uBlacklist
Userscripts
Sink It for Reddit
UnTrap
Vinegar
StopTheMadness
AdGuard
This addon is free if you just want to use the built in adblocking lists. For a small yearly fee, you can pay for "Pro" features, which allows you to add any custom adblocking list to the app, as well as providing DNS-based system-level adblocking that can block ads and trackers inside any app on your phone. Note that it gives you two options for the system-level blocking, local VPN and native DNS; using the VPN option can drain your battery faster than normal in my experience, so I recommend using the native DNS instead. Between AdGuard and the two YouTube-customizing extensions below, I haven’t seen an ad on YouTube in Safari in months.
Recommended custom filter lists (in addition to the built-in default lists):
Bypass Paywalls Clean (you’ll also need to install this userscript using the Userscripts Safari extension mentioned later in this list for maximum paywall blocking)
Huge AI Blocklist (if you don’t want AI art or AI images of nonexistent chimera animals cluttering up your search results)
Fuck FuckAdblock
Noir
Adds a dark mode to any website. It's using heuristics (fancy guessing) to figure out which website colors need to be changed so that it's darkened, so sometimes it can make mistakes. In that case, it has a built in way to send a bug report to the developer, who is pretty responsive in my experience; he updates the app around once a month in my experience. You can also turn off darkening for specific sites right from inside Safari.
uBlacklist
This addon hides search engine results from specific domains. Example: you can hide images results from AI generator sites, OR if you search for tech support advice and one of those stupid auto-generated sites filled with SEO garbage but no actual information keeps popping up, you can use this addon to hide everything from that website, right from the Google/DuckDuckGo/other search results.
Recommended filter subscriptions:
Huge AI Blocklist
Userscripts
Allows you to install userscripts and stylesheets that customize website behavior or appearance. The addon can check for updates of your userscripts and uses iCloud to synchronize them across devices too, which is really nice. The userscripts I use are:
Bypass Paywalls Clean (removes news website paywalls)
Amazon Sponsored Products Removal (self-explanatory)
Redirect Fandom to BreezeWiki (bypasses ad-filled fandom.com domains for indie wikis or an ad-free proxy site. The link documents 2 userscripts with slightly different behavior; use whichever you prefer).
Sink It for Reddit
I switched to only using Reddit in the browser after the whole API/third party apps fiasco. AdGuard blocks the ads in the web interface, but there were still a lot of annoyances because Reddit constantly bombarded you with prompts/popups trying to get you to switch to their app so they could track you and sell you ads. Sink It for Reddit removes all of those popups and lets you customize the behavior of the Reddit website too (tapping a post can open it in a new tab, back to top buttons for long posts, and video downloads, among other things). Constantly being updated too, which is nice to see.
UnTrap (USD $1.99)
This extension cleans up the YouTube interface in the browser. You can hide Shorts, Explore, Trending, and multiple flavors of Suggestions (videos, playlists, etc.). It also stops autoplaying videos, and has a content filter you can use to ensure you never see certain channels or even specific videos by ID, username, or keyword/regex. There are over 50 options you can tweak for the video playback page alone, so if you’re looking to remove an annoyance from YouTube in Safari on iOS, this is the addon for you. Note however that this is the first extension I’ve recommended that does NOT have a free version.
Vinegar and Baking Soda (USD $1.99)
This extension replaces YouTube’s custom video player with a standard HTML5 one. This means that YT videos will play back using the standard iOS video player interface, including all of the accompanying benefits: better interface, Picture in Picture/popout videos work, videos continue playing in the background even if you leave Safari, etc.. I was even able to start a YouTube video in Safari, lock my phone, and then continue playing the video and hear the audio over my car’s speakers via CarPlay. These are all normally locked features reserved for YouTube Premium subscribers. You can also set a default quality that it will use so YouTube won’t use “auto” and set you to 360p just because you’re using a phone.
StopTheMadness Pro (USD $14.99)
This app is really only for techies who use mobile websites a LOT; for me the very high price tag is worth it primarily to stop the following web annoyances:
Stops websites from disabling features like copy and paste, pinch to zoom, context menus, or text replacement/autofill
Adds a warning when you’re exceeding the length of a password field (too many poorly coded websites just chopping off the extra characters without telling me and then the password I recorded is wrong)
Stops autoplaying video (looking at you, YouTube and news websites)
I’ll be honest, this app has a LOT of features and the number of options can be overwhelming. It has dozens of things I did not mention, and some of them even overlap with other items in this list. For example, if you have this you probably don’t need Baking Soda or Vinegar because this app has options for enabling native Safari controls on all videos, setting default YouTube quality and subtitles, etc.

obviously we don't know exactly how this is being done but from what i understand this new midjourney deal (if it even happens) is specifically about tumblr giving midjourney access to the Tumblr API, which it previously did not have. various datasets used in AI training probably already include data from Tumblr because they either scraped data from Tumblr specifically (something that is probably technically against TOS but can be done without accessing the API, also something I have personally done many times on websites like TikTok and Twitter for research) or from google (which indexes links and images posted to Tumblr that you can scrape without even going on Tumblr). The API, which I currently have access to bc of my university, specifically allows you to create a dataset from specific blogs and specific tags. This dataset for tags looks basically exactly like the tag page you or i would have access to, with only original posts showing up but with all of the metadata recorded explicitly (all info you have access to from the user interface of Tumblr itself, just not always extremely clearly). For specific blogs it does include reblogs as well, but this generally seems like a less useful way of collecting data unless you are doing research into specific users (not something i am doing). It depends on your institution what the limits of this API are of course, and it does seem a bit concerning that Tumblr internally seems to have a version that includes unanswered asks, private posts, drafts etc but through the API itself you cannot get these posts. If you choose to exclude your blog from 3rd party partners, what it seems like Tumblr is doing is just removing your original posts from being indexed in any way, so not showing up on Google, not showing up in tags, in searches etc. This means your original posts arent showing up when asking the API for all posts in a specific tag, and it probably also makes it impossible to retrieve a dataset based on your blog. This means it doesnt just exclude your posts and blog from any dataset midjourney creates (if they even take the deal), it's also excluded from the type of research i'm doing (not saying this as a guilt trip, i already have my datasets so i dont care) and it's seemingly excluded from all on-site searches by other users. it's also important to note that every single thing you can do with the Tumblr API to collect data on posts and users you could feasibly also do manually by scrolling while logged in and just writing everything down in an excel sheet.
#this isnt a Take about whether or not you should turn on that new option bc like idk which option is better personally. like im not sure#im just trying to clarify what i think is going on as someone who's used this API quite a lot

It's worse.
The glasses Meta built come with language translation features -- meaning it becomes harder for bilingual families to speak privately without being overheard.
No it's even worse.
Because someone has developed an app (I-XRAY) that scans and detects who people are in real-time.
No even worse.
Because I-XRAY accesses all kinds of public data about that person.
Wait is it so bad?
I-XRAY is not publicly usable and was only built to show what a privacy nightmare Meta is creating. Here's a 2-minute video of the creators doing a experiment how quickly people on the street's trust can be exploited. It's chilling because the interactions are kind and heartwarming but obviously the people are being tricked in the most uncomfortable way.
Yes it is so bad:
Because as satirical IT News channel Fireship demonstrated, if you combine a few easily available technologies, you can reproduce I-XRAYs results easily.
Hook up an open source vision model (for face detection). This model gives us the coordinates to a human face. Then tools like PimEyes or FaceCheck.ID -- uh, both of those are free as well... put a name to that face. Then phone book websites like fastpeoplesearch.com or Instant Checkmate let us look up lots of details about those names (date of birth, phone #, address, traffic and criminal records, social media accounts, known aliases, photos & videos, email addresses, friends and relatives, location history, assets & financial info). Now you can use webscrapers (the little programs Google uses to index the entire internet and feed it to you) or APIs (programs that let us interface with, for example, open data sets by the government) -> these scraping methods will, for many targeted people, provide the perpetrators with a bulk of information. And if that sounds impractical, well, the perpetrators can use a open source, free-to-use large language model like LLaMa (also developed by Meta, oh the irony) to get a summary (or get ChatGPT style answers) of all that data.
Fireship points out that people can opt out of most of these data brokers by contacting them ("the right to be forgotten" has been successfully enforced by European courts and applies globally to people that make use of our data). Apparently the New York Times has compiled an extensive list of such sites and services.
But this is definitely dystopian. And individual opt-outs exploit that many people don't even know that this is a thing and that place the entire responsibility on the individual. And to be honest, I don't trust the New York Times and almost feel I'm drawing attention to myself if I opt out. It really leaves me personally uncertain what is the smarter move. I hope this tech is like Google's smartglasses and becomes extinct.
i hate the "meta glasses" with their invisible cameras i hate when people record strangers just-living-their-lives i hate the culture of "it's not illegal so it's fine". people deserve to walk around the city without some nameless freak recording their faces and putting them up on the internet. like dude you don't show your own face how's that for irony huh.
i hate those "testing strangers to see if they're friendly and kind! kindness wins! kindness pays!" clickbait recordings where overwhelmingly it is young, attractive people (largely women) who are being scouted for views and free advertising . they're making you model for them and they reap the benefits. they profit now off of testing you while you fucking exist. i do not want to be fucking tested. i hate the commodification of "kindness" like dude just give random people the money, not because they fucking smiled for it. none of the people recording has any idea about the origin of the term "emotional labor" and none of us could get them to even think about it. i did not apply for this job! and you know what! i actually super am a nice person! i still don't want to be fucking recorded!
& it's so normalized that the comments are always so fucking ignorant like wow the brunette is so evil so mean so twisted just because she didn't smile at a random guy in an intersection. god forbid any person is in hiding due to an abusive situation. no, we need to see if they'll say good morning to a stranger approaching them. i am trying to walk towards my job i am not "unkind" just because i didn't notice your fucked up "social experiment". you fucking weirdo. stop doing this.

How To Use Llama 3.1 405B FP16 LLM On Google Kubernetes

How to set up and use large open models for multi-host generation AI over GKE
Access to open models is more important than ever for developers as generative AI grows rapidly due to developments in LLMs (Large Language Models). Open models are pre-trained foundational LLMs that are accessible to the general population. Data scientists, machine learning engineers, and application developers already have easy access to open models through platforms like Hugging Face, Kaggle, and Google Cloud’s Vertex AI.
How to use Llama 3.1 405B
Google is announcing today the ability to install and run open models like Llama 3.1 405B FP16 LLM over GKE (Google Kubernetes Engine), as some of these models demand robust infrastructure and deployment capabilities. With 405 billion parameters, Llama 3.1, published by Meta, shows notable gains in general knowledge, reasoning skills, and coding ability. To store and compute 405 billion parameters at FP (floating point) 16 precision, the model needs more than 750GB of GPU RAM for inference. The difficulty of deploying and serving such big models is lessened by the GKE method discussed in this article.
Customer Experience
You may locate the Llama 3.1 LLM as a Google Cloud customer by selecting the Llama 3.1 model tile in Vertex AI Model Garden.
Once the deploy button has been clicked, you can choose the Llama 3.1 405B FP16 model and select GKE.Image credit to Google Cloud
The automatically generated Kubernetes yaml and comprehensive deployment and serving instructions for Llama 3.1 405B FP16 are available on this page.
Deployment and servicing multiple hosts
Llama 3.1 405B FP16 LLM has significant deployment and service problems and demands over 750 GB of GPU memory. The total memory needs are influenced by a number of parameters, including the memory used by model weights, longer sequence length support, and KV (Key-Value) cache storage. Eight H100 Nvidia GPUs with 80 GB of HBM (High-Bandwidth Memory) apiece make up the A3 virtual machines, which are currently the most potent GPU option available on the Google Cloud platform. The only practical way to provide LLMs such as the FP16 Llama 3.1 405B model is to install and serve them across several hosts. To deploy over GKE, Google employs LeaderWorkerSet with Ray and vLLM.
LeaderWorkerSet
A deployment API called LeaderWorkerSet (LWS) was created especially to meet the workload demands of multi-host inference. It makes it easier to shard and run the model across numerous devices on numerous nodes. Built as a Kubernetes deployment API, LWS is compatible with both GPUs and TPUs and is independent of accelerators and the cloud. As shown here, LWS uses the upstream StatefulSet API as its core building piece.
A collection of pods is controlled as a single unit under the LWS architecture. Every pod in this group is given a distinct index between 0 and n-1, with the pod with number 0 being identified as the group leader. Every pod that is part of the group is created simultaneously and has the same lifecycle. At the group level, LWS makes rollout and rolling upgrades easier. For rolling updates, scaling, and mapping to a certain topology for placement, each group is treated as a single unit.
Each group’s upgrade procedure is carried out as a single, cohesive entity, guaranteeing that every pod in the group receives an update at the same time. While topology-aware placement is optional, it is acceptable for all pods in the same group to co-locate in the same topology. With optional all-or-nothing restart support, the group is also handled as a single entity when addressing failures. When enabled, if one pod in the group fails or if one container within any of the pods is restarted, all of the pods in the group will be recreated.
In the LWS framework, a group including a single leader and a group of workers is referred to as a replica. Two templates are supported by LWS: one for the workers and one for the leader. By offering a scale endpoint for HPA, LWS makes it possible to dynamically scale the number of replicas.
Deploying multiple hosts using vLLM and LWS
vLLM is a well-known open source model server that uses pipeline and tensor parallelism to provide multi-node multi-GPU inference. Using Megatron-LM’s tensor parallel technique, vLLM facilitates distributed tensor parallelism. With Ray for multi-node inferencing, vLLM controls the distributed runtime for pipeline parallelism.
By dividing the model horizontally across several GPUs, tensor parallelism makes the tensor parallel size equal to the number of GPUs at each node. It is crucial to remember that this method requires quick network connectivity between the GPUs.
However, pipeline parallelism does not require continuous connection between GPUs and divides the model vertically per layer. This usually equates to the quantity of nodes used for multi-host serving.
In order to support the complete Llama 3.1 405B FP16 paradigm, several parallelism techniques must be combined. To meet the model’s 750 GB memory requirement, two A3 nodes with eight H100 GPUs each will have a combined memory capacity of 1280 GB. Along with supporting lengthy context lengths, this setup will supply the buffer memory required for the key-value (KV) cache. The pipeline parallel size is set to two for this LWS deployment, while the tensor parallel size is set to eight.
In brief
We discussed in this blog how LWS provides you with the necessary features for multi-host serving. This method maximizes price-to-performance ratios and can also be used with smaller models, such as the Llama 3.1 405B FP8, on more affordable devices. Check out its Github to learn more and make direct contributions to LWS, which is open-sourced and has a vibrant community.
You can visit Vertex AI Model Garden to deploy and serve open models via managed Vertex AI backends or GKE DIY (Do It Yourself) clusters, as the Google Cloud Platform assists clients in embracing a gen AI workload. Multi-host deployment and serving is one example of how it aims to provide a flawless customer experience.

How Can I Use Programmatic SEO to Launch a Niche Content Site?
Launching a niche content site can be both exciting and rewarding—especially when it's done with a smart strategy like programmatic SEO. Whether you're targeting a hyper-specific audience or aiming to dominate long-tail keywords, programmatic SEO can give you an edge by scaling your content without sacrificing quality. If you're looking to build a site that ranks fast and drives passive traffic, this is a strategy worth exploring. And if you're unsure where to start, a professional SEO agency Markham can help bring your vision to life.
What Is Programmatic SEO?
Programmatic SEO involves using automated tools and data to create large volumes of optimized pages—typically targeting long-tail keyword variations. Instead of manually writing each piece of content, programmatic SEO leverages templates, databases, and keyword patterns to scale content creation efficiently.
For example, a niche site about hiking trails might use programmatic SEO to create individual pages for every trail in Canada, each optimized for keywords like “best trail in [location]” or “hiking tips for [terrain].”
Steps to Launch a Niche Site Using Programmatic SEO
1. Identify Your Niche and Content Angle
Choose a niche that:
Has clear search demand
Allows for structured data (e.g., locations, products, how-to guides)
Has low to medium competition
Examples: electric bike comparisons, gluten-free restaurants by city, AI tools for writers.
2. Build a Keyword Dataset
Use SEO tools (like Ahrefs, Semrush, or Google Keyword Planner) to extract long-tail keyword variations. Focus on "X in Y" or "best [type] for [audience]" formats. If you're working with an SEO agency Markham, they can help with in-depth keyword clustering and search intent mapping.
3. Create Content Templates
Build templates that can dynamically populate content with variables like location, product type, or use case. A content template typically includes:
Intro paragraph
Keyword-rich headers
Dynamic tables or comparisons
FAQs
Internal links to related pages
4. Source and Structure Your Data
Use public datasets, APIs, or custom scraping to populate your content. Clean, accurate data is the backbone of programmatic SEO.
5. Automate Page Generation
Use platforms like Webflow (with CMS collections), WordPress (with custom post types), or even a headless CMS like Strapi to automate publishing. If you’re unsure about implementation, a skilled SEO agency Markham can develop a custom solution that integrates data, content, and SEO seamlessly.
6. Optimize for On-Page SEO
Every programmatically created page should include:
Title tags and meta descriptions with dynamic variables
Clean URL structures (e.g., /tools-for-freelancers/)
Internal linking between related pages
Schema markup (FAQ, Review, Product)
7. Track, Test, and Improve
Once live, monitor your pages via Google Search Console. Use A/B testing to refine titles, layouts, and content. Focus on improving pages with impressions but low click-through rates (CTR).
Why Work with an SEO Agency Markham?
Executing programmatic SEO at scale requires a mix of SEO strategy, web development, content structuring, and data management. A professional SEO agency Markham brings all these capabilities together, helping you:
Build a robust keyword strategy
Design efficient, scalable page templates
Ensure proper indexing and crawlability
Avoid duplication and thin content penalties
With local expertise and technical know-how, they help you launch faster, rank better, and grow sustainably.
Final Thoughts
Programmatic SEO is a powerful method to launch and scale a niche content site—if you do it right. By combining automation with strategic keyword targeting, you can dominate long-tail search and generate massive organic traffic. To streamline the process and avoid costly mistakes, partner with an experienced SEO agency Markham that understands both the technical and content sides of SEO.
Ready to build your niche empire? Programmatic SEO could be your best-kept secret to success
