Trixx's True Form
So I've been on a bit of a Trixx kick lately. So I decided I might as well give them a true form like Tikki and Plagg.
Tumblr media
(Of course, click for better quality since Tumblr chews up art)
Decided to use a minor headcanon and interpret Trixx as more of the kwami of perception rather than just straight illusions. So since they embody perception, I decided to give him extra ears, noses, hands, and so many eyes and mouths so they have extra senses. Also, I just love giving extra mouths and eyes. I guess it still does work if you prefer him as the kwami of illusion rather than perception.
Did I go overboard with the eyes and mouths? Maybe. Do I love the design? YES!
Also, a chance to practice with the symmetry tool. Which was hella useful here.

I’ll Handle This (4)
In Which Gabriel and Plagg Argue
“I’ll solve all your problems,” Plagg had said. “You just have to agree to it.” A fixed relationship with his father, Lila to stop bothering him, and Ladybug to fall in love with him? Who wouldn’t agree to that?
Except Plagg was the God of Destruction and Chaos and had a more…hands-on approach. Adrien just wants his body back.
Ao3 | FF.net
After the shopping trip, the teens walked back to the school together, and then separated.
“Ugh, walking is exhausting.” Plagg groaned.
“You’re using my muscles, you know.” Adrien spoke, poking out of the pocket. “I don’t usually walk this much, since my bodyguard drives me everywhere.”
“Well, then I’m sure this is good for you.” Plagg stomped in big steps. “But I haven’t used legs since the last time I switched with a wielder, so I get to complain.”
“I think by that logic, you don’t get to complain, because you usually get to float. And not going to lie…it’s pretty sweet.”
“Just wait until you start floating in your sleep, and then you phase through the ceiling and then keep going and end up in space.”
Adrien froze, staring up at his own face from the pocket. “That can happen?”
“Oh yes. Good luck sleeping tonight!”
Not too much longer, Plagg arrived back at the Agreste manor.
He could feel Adrien shaking in his pocket. “What’s up, Bub?”
“My father is going to be waiting for you. I just know it. He’s going to yell and threaten to pull you out of school—“
“What, like he did this morning? Relax. There’s plenty of windows in the mansion.”
But Adrien came spiraling out of the shirt to look Plagg in the eyes. “But I don’t want you to break anymore windows! I don’t want you to make my father angry anymore! You’re hurting him!”
Plagg gave him a hard look. “Is that what you think, Adrien? That your disobedience hurts him?”
“Why else would he be mean? He loves me...”
Plagg reached up and scratched his ears. “Of course he does, kid. But...sometimes, in people like your dad, love isn’t the strongest motivator. I know it is with you. Love is about the only thing that controls you. Your love for your friends, for your family, your city, for Ladybug...that all drives your decisions.”
Adrien was quiet as he agreed.
“But for people like your father, they’re driven by power. They base decisions on what will make them look good and get more respect. He does love you, Adrien, but he wants your unconditional loyalty. He doesn’t want you to question him, or to disagree with him, because you’re his son. He made you, and you’re half of him. So if anyone is to be completely submitted to his will, it’s you.”
Adrien frowned. “I don’t believe that. I think...I think he’s just scared. Of losing me, that is. Like we lost mom. So he keeps me restricted.”
“But he’s always treated you like this, even before you lost your mom.”
Adrien had no argument to that, and just slowly lowered himself into Plagg’s hands.
“Just think about it. I’ll do all the talking, you just listen and see.”
“Okay.”
Plagg tucked him back into the pocket, before approaching the gate and ringing the doorbell.
The camera didn’t even come out, the gate just opened.
It felt like walking into a hell mouth.
Inside, Gabriel stood at the bottom of the stairs, with his arms crossed. Next to him, Nathalie stood with her own arms crossed. And next to her stood Lila, with her arms also crossed.
Plagg couldn’t help but snicker. They looked like three Russian puzzle dolls. Would Lila pop open and show another smaller, angrier creature?
“What’s so funny?” Demanded Gabriel. “Where have you been?”
“Chill man, I was out with my friends.”
“And spending my money?”
“You literally let me spend whatever money I want. I just usually never have anything I want to buy. I treat my friends to a nice lunch and it’s the end of the world?”
Gabriel sniffed, “you obviously can’t see that your so-called ‘friends’ are only hanging around you because of our wealth. I disprove of the company you keep, especially Mr. Lahiffe—“
“Why?”
“You don’t get to question my authority.”
“I’m just honestly curious as to why you don’t like them. I don’t buy stuff for my friends, despite what you think. Nino is a really good friend and a nice person. He doesn’t get in trouble, and his grades are pretty good. So what’s up?”
“I simply don’t care for his plebeian attitude.”
Plagg scoffed. “Plebeian?! Excuse me, what century is this again? Are we nobles or something I didn’t know about?” He pitched his voice high to have a ‘proper’ voice. “Oh yes Martha, we shan’t have our child run around with the rift raft in the fields. He must get a proper education so he may marry his cousin, have a child with three eyes, and die at the ripe old age at 26!”
“Adrien!” Gabriel yelled. “How dare you mock me!”
“Then stop talking like a 17th century noble! We have money, but high society never did anyone favors! You just sound like an old idiot! An old, out of touch, insensitive idiot!” Then he pointed at Lila. “And if you want to talk about people taking advantage of us, why don’t you turn yourself 90 degrees that-a-way to grill this blood sucking parasite.”
“On the contrary,” Gabriel interrupted. “Miss Rossi only has your best interests at heart, which is why she came here and told me all about your little charade you put on during school today. You assaulted your bodyguard!”
“He’s fine.”
“Whether or not he’s fine is beside the point, Adrien. I hired him to protect you, and you attack him?”
“He wasn’t protecting me. He was trying to kidnap me! I wanted to be at school!”
“Well naughty children don’t get to do what they want to do!”
“Do you want me to be happy or stupid?!”
“No! Wait—“
“Ah ha!” Plagg pointed. “You just want me to be miserable!”
Gabriel flared his nostrils. “Stop trying to twist my words. The fact remains that you have been completely out of control these last few days, and I have no choice but to discipline you accordingly. From now on, you will have no contact with these teenagers that are encouraging you to behave like this monster. Instead, you will only be allowed to interact with Miss Rossi at photo shoots.”
Plagg saw the corner of the man’s mouth curve up. Check mate, the gesture said.
Time to take it up a notch.
“I’m not sure the best way to handle this situation, so I’ll handle it the way Chloe would.” He laid down on the floor and began to kick and scream. “DADDY! DADDY I HATE HER! FIRE HER AT ONCE!!”
“If you don’t stop this tantrum this instant, you’re being pulled out of school.”
“Ha!” He laughed, still from the floor. “I’ll just reenroll! I broke one window getting out the first time, there’s not a lock in this earth that can hold me, old man.”
“Adrien, go to your room.”
“Make me.”
“You’re angering me, and you won’t like me when I’m angry.”
“I don’t like you now.”
“This attitude of yours is disrespectful, disgusting, immature, and embarrassing. I raised you better than—“
“Are you done?” Plagg asked, scratching his ear. “Because you just keep talking. That’s all you do. This gaslighting is getting really old. I know I’m acting immature, that’s the whole thing. Pointing it out just makes you look stupid. Are you going to hit me or something?”
“I’m not going to hit you, Adrien.”
“Huh. Didn’t know you had it in you.”
Gabriel frowned. “You really think I would hit you?”
“You’ve already hit emotional and verbal abuse, I assumed that was the next step.”
“I am not abusive! I am strict, but I only have your best interests at heart.”
“Right, like making me schmooze with Miss Sausage Hair here?”
“Hey!” Lila cried.
“Oh shut up, you’re plenty at fault here too.”
“That’s it. Adrien, you’re grounded. No phone, no computer, no tv, no video games, and no school.”
“So you want me to just sit in my room and stare out the window? Or are you going to board those up too?”
“There’s plenty of books for you to read. Books that will hopefully change your mind about this rebellious streak.”
“Until when?”
“Until I say so!”
“Cool. I quit modeling.”
“WHAT!?”
“You heard me. I quit modeling. Or you can fire Lila and unground me. Your choice, Gabe.”
Gabriel ground his teeth as Lila just stood there in shock.
“I’ll give you some time to think about it.” Plagg cracked his neck. “I’ve got homework to do.”
“But—“
“Ah ah ah,” Plagg held up a hand. “Talk to the hand, cause the face ain’t listening.” He skipped up the stairs, and out of the lobby.
Gabriel simmered in rage, feeling the control which had been so firmly in his hands slip away.
“Mr. Agreste—“ Lila began.
“No.” He interrupted. “I need some time to think. Keep your eye on Adrien and let me know exactly what he’s up to, who he’s with, what he’s doing. You do this, and I will reward you greatly.”
“Of course, Mr. Agreste.”
As soon as Plagg closed the bedroom door, Adrien spiraled out of his pocket.
“Hey kid, I know that was rough...”
“Rough?! No kidding! You’re a monster! How could you talk to my father like that!? How could you insinuate that he would hit me? And you got me grounded and pulled from school! You quit modeling!”
“Honestly Adrien, I thought he might hit me. His anger reflects violence. You see it too.”
Adrien rubbed his paws over his cheeks, trying to stop the tears.
“Come on kid, it’s for the best.” And he reached out for him.
But Adrien darted away. “I’m going to see Tikki! I need comfort from someone that’s not trying to ruin my life!”
Before Plagg could protest, Adrien had flitted out the window and into the streets.
The sun was setting, and traffic was dwindling, as working folks made their way home.
Finding Marinette’s house was a matter of finding the school, and then going from there, while sticking to the shadows and staying high enough away from straying eyes.
When he reached her balcony, he loitered at the window, trying to figure out how to phase in. Then he wondered if he should even bother. Tikki might scold him for leaving Plagg. Or maybe she’d laugh at him for being upset. She was millennia old too. His problems probably would sound trivial to her as well.
Eventually, he just knocked.
Marinette answered, a grave look on her face. “Plagg? What’s wrong? Why are you crying? Is Chat okay?”
“He’s fine.” Adrien sniffed. “Can I talk to Tikki please?”
Shocked by his politeness and shy demeanor, she blinked twice and answered, “Uh, sure.”
Tikki appeared then, looking at him with concerned eyes.
“I’ll just leave you two alone then,” Marinette stated, closing the window.
“Adrien? What’s wrong?”
It all came out of him then. “He’s a monster!” Adrien blubbered. “He’s ruining everything and making it all worse! I don’t know how to stop him! But my father is done with me and is going to pull me out of school! Plagg keeps acting like it’s no big deal, but he doesn’t understand! He’s just treating this like a big game!”
To his relief, Tikki hugged him tightly. “Oh Adrien. Plagg means well, I promise. His methods don’t make much sense, but they do produce results. It’ll be alright.”
Adrien just sniffed, taking comfort from the hug. “I feel so helpless. I can’t do anything without outing myself as Chat Noir, and that’s the last thing I need...unless Plagg beats me to it. I know everyone is suspicious of him. This is a nightmare.”
“I’ll talk to him when I get a chance,” promised Tikki. “He does mean well, I promise. But this is your life, and making you watch him work is torture.”
“Exactly! Tikki you understand! If he does pull this off, I will thank him, but like...what if it doesn’t work? He acts like humans are so predictable and easy to manipulate, but even with all his life and experiences, he can’t account for everything. I’m worried he’s being too cocky.”
Tikki petted his head. “Plagg can get over his head sometimes. He’s lazy and stubborn, but that just makes him ridiculously creative. Some of his attempts may fail, but I really think you just have to trust that he’s in control.”
“I know, I know, and in my head, I know he’s doing this for me. I know he doesn’t want to be in my body, and I know he’s crazy smart…but I feel…betrayed? Scared? I don’t know what I’m feeling.”
“Unstable.” Tikki provided. “Because you have no control over your life.”
He frowned, holding onto his tail.
“But, from what Plagg has told me, you didn’t have much control of it before either.”
He rubbed a paw against his cheek. “Sadly, no. I didn’t.”
The trap door opened again, and Marinette peeked her head out. She placed a plate with a cheese danish on it on the ground nearby. “Anything I can do?”
Tikki answered for him, only slightly lying, “sometimes Plagg gets emotional when he thinks about past holders that we lost tragically. He said Chat was busy and he didn’t want to bother him.”
“Oh Plagg, I’m so sorry.”
Adrien rubbed his eyes with his paws again. He may not be in his body, but he did feel a little embarrassed to be crying in front of his crush.
“Say Marinette, now that you’re the guardian, it would be really helpful if you could comfort him.”
“Me? I...I guess. What do I do?”
“Just do what feels right.”
Adrien floated a little closer to her, desperate for her affection, but hesitant to take it for himself.
She cupped him in her hands, cradling him, holding him, cocooning him with her skin. She brought him up to her face, leaving a lingering kiss right between his ears, then caressed him to her cheek, her fingers encircling him in a hug.
A stray finger itched the back of his head, sending tingles all the way down to his tail and making him purr.
This was heavenly. Her scent surrounded him, dulling his senses and calming his tears.
“It’s okay.” She said softly. “It’s alright to be sad. Things will get better.”
Her words soothed the day's pain, and he really did feel more optimistic. He could do anything with Ladybug’s support.
Finally, he pressed a little kiss to her cheek and allowed her to pull away. “Thank you Marinette. I do feel a lot better now.”
Her smile was so warm and so wonderful, he could stare at her all day.
But an Akuma alert had to go and ruin the whole thing.
“You better get back to Chat! If you need more comfort, come back tonight after patrol!”
“Thanks Marinette! Save that Danish for me!” And he rushed off back to the mansion.

Chapter 5 — Gorilla to the rescue
“Oh my, M’lady, 39.3!” Adrien looked very carefully at the little mercury column that displayed the temperature through the glass stick. He cupped a hand on her forehead and looked up. “That’s very high, especially considering that you were a block of ice only a little while back.” He eyed her with concern and made to get out of his spot on the couch, but Marinette snuggled up to his chest and firmly resisted his attempt to move.
“I’m so cold,” she whispered, her teeth chattering.
He smiled softly. “Your body’s very warm, Marinette, but probably you’re cold because of the temperature. If you let me, I think I saw some paracetamol tablets in the first aid kit over there.” He pointed at the little box he had taken the thermometer from earlier, but Marinette’s hold on his chest grew stronger.
“Stay,” she whispered, burying her face deep in his chest. His cheeks tinged in pink and his eyes widened, but after a minute, his gaze softened and he rested his chin on the top of her head.
“All right, Buginette. I’m not going anywhere.” He could feel her temperature going up from her forehead resting against his chest and he would have wanted to reach the first aid kit for getting those tablets. But Marinette was holding on to him as if he was her last safety anchor. He couldn’t leave her like that. He really couldn’t. So when he felt her arms wrapping firmly around his back, he sighed in defeat and relaxed into her hold. If this was a dream, please don’t wake him up.
He had just closed his eyes and rested his chin on the top of her head, feeling with worry how warm her forehead was against his throat, when he felt something tapping him near his right hand. His eyes shot open and he looked in the direction of the nudge he had felt; Tikki and Plagg both were floating near his arm. Plagg held in his paws the box of paracetamol Adrien had wanted to get from the first aid kid and Tikki was holding a glass full of water..
“There, gamin,” said Plagg as Tikki continued, “no need to panic.”
He smiled brightly. “Thank you guys! Where did you find the water?”
Tikki giggled and chirped, “A kwami has her ways!”
With a little difficulty, since Marinette was leaning heavily against him, he picked up the paracetamol tablets and the glass and moved slightly Marinette, trying to loosen up her hold enough to make her take the medicine. She just hugged him tighter.
“Come on, Marinette, just two tablets and a drop of water. Do it for me,” he muttered as he tried to push her back a little. She looked really red in the face and her body felt like boiling in his hands. Her breath was also catching quickly and when she opened her eyes briefly to swallow some water to take the tablets, they looked red and puffy. She did smile though when she sipped the fresh water. “Good girl,” he commented and she wrapped her extremely warm arms around his neck and looked at him with glassy eyes. Adrien wasn’t sure whether she was seeing him for real or if she was just being hallucinated by the fever.
“I love you, mon chaton,” she whispered.
Adrien’s heart skipped a beat, his eyes widening in shock. “W-what?” he muttered to himself. She wrapped herself closer to him and rubbed her head against his chest.
“Mhh-hm.” She sighed contently. “For… forever,” she continued, her voice hoarse, her words all slurred.
An adrenaline rush ran through his body as she said so. His heart was pounding in his throat. “But… the o-other boy?” he inquired, his throat instantly drying up.
“Adrien,” she whispered sluggishly.
“Yeah?” he whispered back and his breath caught up because she started drawing small circles on his chest with her index finger and the sole feeling of that was giving him goosebumps.
“‘Twas Adrien,” she repeated again, even more sluggishly.
Him? The boy she loved was really him without the mask? Just his luck! Having spent all that time being in competition with himself. How many people could say that? He opened his mouth to reply, but when he looked at her he noticed that she had fallen asleep. The hand that was tracing his chest was now lying limp on her lap, her head comfortably leaning on his chest, just over his heart, a cute smile curling her lips.
He spent a long time looking at her, at the elegant curve of her jaw blending with the slender length of her neck, at how her mouth was adorably slightly open and her cheek became even pinker where it leaned on him. She was sleeping so peacefully that he didn’t want to move, in fear she would wake up; so he just sat a little better, legs crossed on the bed, wrapped the blanket securely around them and rested his chin on her head, trying to find a comfortable position.
He didn’t know how long he sat there, in a half asleep stupor, but his torpor was suddenly disturbed by a loud beating at the door. Marinette jumped in his arms. He quickly checked her temperature by placing a quick kiss on her forehead and realised that she was much cooler now. She was still asleep, though, even if some more bangs resounded from the same direction.
Very carefully, Adrien detangled from Marinette and laid her down on the couch, covering her with the blanket, and then moved closer to the door, suddenly embracing himself and shivering from the cold.
“Who’s there?” he said when he was behind the door of the cabin. A loud grunt resounded from the other end, making him understand that it must have been the Gorilla. At bloody last! He heard somebody on the other side of the door starting to bang at the door. He saw the door’s handle going up and down, but another loud groan told Adrien that the Gorilla couldn’t get in.
“Hang on, let me help you,” he shouted, and started pulling on his side of the handle, with no success. Shoot. He looked up and it was clear what had happened, now that he thought about it. The ceiling of the cabin had gone so low that the door hinges had collapsed. The metal structure of the door looked bent and not even a man as strong as the Gorilla was able to move it an inch.
“The door is stuck!” he shouted to his bodyguard. He heard some more rummaging on the other side and ran to the window to see if he could see anything. The Gorilla was trying to lift one of the trees that had fallen on top of the cabin. God, they looked so big and heavy! And so covered in snow. As his bodyguard was trying to lift one, Adrien heard a cracking sound inside the cabin and saw some fragments of mortar and debris fall to the ground. The Gorilla pulled a bit harder and a further loud crack resounded eerily in the cabin.
“It’s not working, you’re making it worse!” he said, trying to stop the Gorilla and prevent further damage. He swore that he had seen the ceiling lowering even further. The Gorilla walked to the window and exchanged a worried look with him. Adrien put a hand to his ear, mimicking a phone and then drew a cross with his hand, trying to signal that his mobile phone was dead. The imposing man took his own phone out of his pocket and messed with it, undoubtedly trying to send a text message from the look of it. But after a few seconds of skimming through things aimlessly, he sighed and signalled “no” with his hand.
Shoot! Was there no signal? Had the storm caused damage to the telephone line somewhere? He heard more desperate bangs coming from outside. “Can you hear me? It’s not working!” said Adrien as more debris fell to the ground. His bodyguard returned to the window, giving him a nod full of what looked like sadness and frustration. Good, at least he could hear him, he didn’t need to get creative with signals any longer. “You need to go look for help. I’m not alone here, I had to help a friend who had an accident earlier and she’s stuck in here with me now. She’s very sick and her phone is broken. We have no food that I could find!”
The Gorilla signed something that Adrien knew meant, ‘Are you okay?’
He nodded decisively and leaned closer to the window to say, “Yes, I am, but the cabin is very damaged. I don’t know how long it will resist. The electricity is gone. It’s really cold. Please go find help!” Gorilla shook his head but Adrien clasped his hands in a prayer gesture. “Please! You won’t be able to get us out by yourself!” He scratched his head. “I think I remember seeing some houses not too far from the park. Maybe you can get there and bang at someone’s door and ask for help? There should be some mobile signal there too, so maybe you can call Nathalie.” After a few more head shakes in protest and begging from Adrien on the other side, finally the Gorilla gave in. He closed his eyes, nodded and put a hand in front of himself, as if telling him ‘All right, I'll do it.’
“Thank you!” said Adrien with a sigh. “Would you be able to find any sweets or pieces of Camembert cheese while you’re there?” Adrien clearly saw the man closing his eyes and lowering his head in the closest imitation of a facepalm he had ever seen him making. And was that a sigh? “Wait!” he added stopping the man in his tracks before he could turn around and leave. “We also have a bit of a… situation here.” He brought his hand to his nape. “Don’t ask please, but my friend Marinette needs clothes. Uh… underwear possibly.”
The man’s gaze clearly hardened, he raised an eyebrow and gave a curt, long stare at Adrien, his eyes navigating allegedly on his naked torso. Adrien felt all blood rushing to his face. “Nonononono, you’ve got it all wrong. She fell in the lake. I had to help her or she would die. I’ll tell you later, but now she’s sick and her clothes are all wet.” He gave his bodyguard the most pleading puppy eyed look he could get himself to come up with. “PLEASE!” Again he put his hands in together in prayer, right in front of his face. He saw the man keeping on thinking about it, his hand still firmly on his chin, his eyebrow still raised in scepticism. But eventually, he signalled again and nodded. He made a gesture signifying ‘later’ and walked away. Adrien breathed easier.
oOoOoOoOoOo
“Adrien? Is that you?” came Marinette’s voice from the couch.
“Who else?” he asked walking back there. He kept embracing himself and looked sheepishly at Marinette. “Do you mind if I put some clothes on? I’m freezing.” She chuckled a little and nodded shyly.
“Sorry, minou. Of course you can; I don’t want you to catch a cold.”
He smiled as he hurried to fetch his clothes from his own little pile on the floor. “Don’t think about it, it’s okay. It was warmer earlier, but the heater must have stopped working when the ceiling collapsed. We don’t seem to have any electricity.” When he had finally put some layers on to protect himself from the freezing temperature, he sat down again by the couch. They sat in silence for a while, both looking down with flushed faces.
“Were you talking to your bodyguard?” asked Marinette eventually, breaking the silence.
Adrien nodded. “Yes. He’s gone looking for help. He tried to move the trees fallen on top of the cabin but even he couldn’t move them, not even by an inch.”
“Shoot,” commented Marinette. “And Plagg was right earlier, there’s no point in you transforming and trying to Cataclysm the cabin.”
Adrien nodded again. “Yeah… I hadn’t thought about it carefully enough.”
“You never do,” came Plagg’s voice from his side.
Adrien pouted. “Cheers, Plagg...”
“Sorry, but it’s the truth, gamin. At least when you’re Chat Noir. Too often you act before connecting your brain to your mouth.”
“That’s not a nice thing to say, Plagg!” said Tikki, showing herself up from behind Marinette’s back. She grabbed Plagg and zipped away, leaving them some privacy.
Once again, an awkward silence wrapped around them. Adrien kept looking at Marinette, who was also glancing at him from time to time. His hand ran to the nape of his neck.
“Uh, about earlier,” started Marinette and at the same time, Adrien asked, “Talking about earlier…” They both stopped as they heard the other talking and blushed. “Please carry on,” they both said at the same time. “That is…” They both pouted and sighed.
“Okay,” finally managed to say Adrien, his blush darkening when he realised that she wasn’t going to talk with him. “Uh, what you said earlier, I was wondering if you remembered any of that at all.”
Marinette sucked her breath in and gave him a sheepish look. “W-what did I say earlier?”
His back tensed and he held his breath as he said it, slowly but surely, “That the other boy was… Adrien.” She paled and his eyes widened. “It’s true?”
She hid her face behind her hands and started uttering some undefined noises. However, after an interminable moment of doing that, she lowered her hands and locked her gaze into his, nodding shyly. She sucked her breath in when his eyes became as big as saucers and he lost the ability to breathe.
“Sorry,” she said. Her gaze fell and she pouted uncomfortably. “Sorry to disappoint you,” she added.
His heart skipped a beat. “What? Disappoint me? Oh no! I mean, it’s just—weird, I suppose. Just my luck. I was in… competition… with myself. Haha. Who else on Earth. I mean… yeah, cool. Honestly.” He laughed awkwardly and rubbed his neck, with his eyes closed as he didn’t feel able to look her in the face. Then he crouched over himself and hugged his arms, trying to disappear from the world. “I’m sorry if your image of Adrien is being crushed completely today. I… I’m not perfect. I’m just your partner, the clown.” He blushed and lowered his gaze.
Marinette sucked her breath in again. “You don’t need to be perfect, Adrien.” She smiled warmly when his eyes darted immediately to her face in surprise. “And I love your sense of humour, you know that.” They exchanged a soft look, then she lowered her gaze as she continued, “I suppose I’ve never told you how I fell in love with… the other boy, did I?” She saw him shaking his head, even if she was still looking down. Her lips curled up in a small smile and she hugged herself, her heart racing in her ears as she tried to find the courage to talk. “I-it was your first day at school and you gave me your umbrella.”
Adrien gulped awkwardly. “What? My first day?”
She looked up at him and nodded shyly. “Yeah.”
“I thought you hated me!” he muttered to himself.
She sighed. “I must say that at the beginning I wasn’t really impressed.” He pouted so she continued, “But that was on me, Adrien. I had let myself get carried away by my prejudices. You were a rich boy, model, gorgeous, friend of Chloé… I thought you would have been as much a bully as she is. And when I found you messing with chewing gum on my seat I just got that suspicion confirmed so… I didn’t give you a chance to explain and just judged you on that. It wasn’t nice of me, and I never even really apologised for it, so I’ll do it now. I’m so sorry for misjudging you that day.” She put a hand to her forehead. “I can’t believe I misjudged you twice.”
“Huh?” asked Adrien, giving her a pointed look.
“I misjudged Chat Noir too, you know. I thought for a really long time that you were just a clown, someone to not take seriously, and that you didn’t love me for real, that it was all part of an act.”
He paled. Did she really think that of him? “But—”
“Shhh,” she interrupted him, “I know it’s not the case. When you joined me on my balcony the day that André was akumatised into Glaciator, for the first time I discovered a side of Chat Noir that I had never seen before and I realised that maybe I had misjudged him. And slowly my feelings for my partner have grown so much. I learned to appreciate him and respect him. And to love him,” she added in a whisper.
Adrien gasped. “Say that again?”
“You heard well the first time,” said Marinette with a soft smile on her lips. “I love you, chaton. I was rejecting Chat Noir for Adrien but… slowly Chat Noir also stole a piece of my heart.” She smirked and eyed him in a flirty way as her elbow hit him lightly in the ribs. “You cheeky cat,” she added with a giggle.
He giggled as well. His hands reached her shoulders and his gaze locked instantly into hers. Marinette felt blood rushing to her face for the intensity of that look. “Can I kiss you?” he asked, his gaze trained on her, as if there was nothing else left in the world. His heart threatened to jump out of his ribcage when she nodded and smiled softly. Timidly, she cupped both hands around his cheeks and pulled his face forward until their lips met.

ML Season 3 Rewatch: Oni-Chan
Production No. 308
After Luka’s akumatization, comes Kagami’s. For some reason I often forget this episode happened during this season - not sure why, because Oni-Chan’s design is definitely one of my favorites we’ve seen.
ah right, the return of lila
its been a nice seven or so episodes without having to deal with her lol
man her room is a mess lmao, clutter all over the floor n stuff
ugh her lies dont even serve a purpose at this point lol. nino was genuinely asking her if she was okay, and if she didn’t wanna share she coulda just said no, but instead she makes up this whole thinggg. i guess it is another attempt to get in adrien’s good graces again, but man isn’t she exhausted? i’m exhausted just listening to her lol
aww adrien is too nice, immediately agreeing to help her with her work. but tbh i still hear the warning to her in the way he phrases it, “i can still help you with your schoolwork if you want.” still help her, cause she’s on the ropes with his friendship
tbh going through nino instead of asking adrien directly was actually pretty smart of her, makes lila seem less demanding of adrien from his perspective. i hate her
lmaooo at marinette straight up crawling behind desks to overhear them
this is the first episode back in the classroom after a while too huh, we’ve been elsewhere since the first episode.
ahh!! and lila KNOWS marinette is listening, and then suggests to go over to adriens housee ughhh she’s so ruude
gorilla NO! don’t let her in!! she didn’t even offer you any action figures!!!
poor juleka just got her bike stolen lol
why adrien look so ashamed about his worst grade being an A minus? fuckin gabriel isn’t it
nathalie is like “why is this small child trying to talk to my man”
fuck lila!!
goddamnit that manipulative bullshit about telling nathalie that adrien was crying about his grades and only she can help him?? aghhh
marinette channeling her inner spider-man to try and climb the wall lol
“you didn’t ask nicely, you lied Lila” YES adrien, keep calling her out! i live for it lol
lmao marinette’s tower of trashcans. how did she even get them up there that high and not just make it over the top?
i love this firefighter man. what a homie
lila thinks that her looking like her mom and adrien looking like his mom is something they have in common. it’s called genetics babe
plagg lookin all protective of his cheese loll
lila laying on his bed (ew) and trying to like gossip with him and he’s just like “can we do our homework now pls”
i love that adrien has PRINTED photos of ladybug. he printed them outtt lmao. and then he hides them in one of his fencing trophies?? cute
interesting difference in the display of his crush on LB vs marinette’s on adrien. her pictures are posted proudly all over her room most of the time - something i imagine her parents see all the time. but adrien hides his away, i assume because he doesn’t wan gabriel or nathlie to see them? sigh, he feels like he can’t express himself even in his own room
grrr lila jumping on him for a cheek kiss in that picture. DISGUSTING
kagami’s little freckles are so cuute
gabriel just chillin in the basement, staring at his comatose wife. yeah nathalie, he sure looks suuuper busy
the gorilla’s little smile as he tries to hide lila so adrien won’t get in trouble lol
the way the camera cuts to marinette’s single leg just sticking out of the pile of trash cans adhaksdha why is it so funny to me
lmao at marinette wanting to transform so she can beat up lila. same girl, same
but tikki’s right, not a good idea
adrien is TOO nice for his own good!! “perhaps she’s just looking to be a little less lonely” i wish that were true!! but she’s just using you!! ahh, sometimes his kindness makes me so sad
gabriel’s like “i won’t let this girl inlfuence my son” cut to the end of the episode and he’s like “jk lmao, i’ll work with her instead, who cares if adrien and his friends get hurt along the way”
kagami sees the photo and yeet, there goes her phone
her journal has japanese text, nice
did she slice that tree in half with her wooden sword?? holy shit she’s so cool
“adrien agreste is way too innocent to be wary of lila rossi” he KNOWS he fucking KNOWS that adrien is too goddamn nice and will fall for lila’s shit, and YET he’s still gonna let her fuck around in his life?? what an asshole!!!
love that adrien recognizes kagami immediately lol, if only it were always that easy, amiright
adrien saying lila craves attention - he’s not wrong about that one
aaand marinette goes back in the trash to transform lolll
oni-chan hisses lila’s name so creepily lol
goddamn oni-chan is such a cool looking akuma. i love the black white and red, and the rose thorns and the way her sword glows, and even the kind of bouncy sound effect when she strikes things. and we haven’t even gotten to the teleportation and lie detecting stuff yet. man seriously, my favorite villain design for suuuure
lila straight up trying to say she doesn’t even know adrien exists 🙄
“i’m really sorry but i always get what i want - it’s not my fault” aaAHHHH!!
aaand chat comin in telling them to ask adrien what he thinks instead lol.
i honestly think it’s so funny that they spend so much of the episode talking about who/what adrien deserves/wants and he’s literally RIGHT THERE lmaoo
all the hidden identity jokes and in-knowledge the audience has never gets old for me lol
“since when does she have a horn” honestly it should always be there. lila needs an eternal bullshit monitor
lmaooo i love that lila comes into the bakery freaking out about being chased and sabine is just like “what the heck is on your forehead” lolll
lila saying she misjudged ladybug and then her horn growing?? genius, poetic cinema, i love it
l m a o, chat talking himself up over adrien. fuckin gold
danngg kagami as oni-chan so passionate when she talks about her love for adrien. and chat’s small little “what?”
and the billboard!!! amazing
oni-chan using the lucky charm against ladybug?? love it
FUCK lila and her fake injury shit!!!!! ahhh!!!!
thank god adrien finally sees lila’s lies putting other people in danger though. and he calls her out on it once again too
and chat just telling kagami straight up that LB is calling and it’s the girl of his dreams??? oh my godd. i mean like, yeah none of them know, and kagami won’t remember any of this ever anyway, but still! ouch adrien lol
chat dragging lila so oni-chan will teleport to ladybug, nice
and chat giving the rose back to kagami all sweetly then taking her back home <3
even if him missing the fist bump does hurt my heart just a bit
him calling lila as sly as a fox. i see you
fuck gabriel!!
yess adrien!! drop that liar!!
adrien telling kagami he’s only trying to be worthy of her <333
fuCK GABRIEL!!!
Ohh man, I really liked that episode, a lot of good relationship stuff and everyone becoming more aware of Lila’s true nature. And a lot of plot stuff too with Gabriel and Lila making that deal. Chat/Adrien learning more about how Kagami really feels, and then Marinette realizing she doesn’t have to worry about Adrien’s judgement when it comes to Lila - goooood stuff

Day 4: Miraculous (Adrigami)
Or sort of ChatGami.
https://archiveofourown.org/works/18142001/chapters/43059809
@mlshipfleet
It was night in Paris, most of the citizens were heading home, others were still strolling around the metropole and others were leaving their house to head to work or any other specific places.
On the top of the Eiffel Tower on the platform for the visitors stood a young Asian girl with short blue hair watching over the city of lights shining brightly just like stars. The girl looked down at the ground, where she could see the Champs de Mars with a few pedestrians hanging around the place and a tall, muscular raven-haired boy running around followed by a shorter brunette boy with glasses. The girl kept looking down at the ground, then behind her from up the sky appeared a blonde in a black leather suit and a belt as a tail and black cat ears over his long and rather untamed hair, landing on the platform of the tower, then admired the Japanese descendant girl, which kept looking at the beauty of France’s capital.
The blonde superhero in the tight suit took one step forward to get closer to the girl, then faked a cough before he said something.
“Meow,” He said calling the girl’s attention, then walked closed to the girl.
“In Japan you’re not able to admire the city like this, right?” Asked Cat Noir.
“I could observe it from the Tokyo Skytree or the Tokyo Tower,” Kagami said looking at the superhero.
“Right, right but it’s nothing unlike Paris I guess?”
“Both are amazing cities, please don’t make me chose between them”
“Of course not Kagami,” Cat Noir said chuckling, then the girl approached him.
“Why did you call me here?” Questioned the brown-eyed girl. “Did something happen?”
“I don’t know it exactly, but what I know is, that Paris needs a new superhero since Ladybug, well the person behind Ladybug had to leave Paris for good because of some issues with her family outside of France.” “And on who did you think to take her place?” The Japanese teenage girl asked the blonde.
“You were the first person to come to my mind” Responded Cat Noir. “You’re brave, you’re clever and you’re great at combat….at least in fencing, but that doesn’t mean you’re not going to be good as Ladybug, I know you will be good”
“I don’t know, I will need time to practice as Ladybug, like how to use the yo-yo, jump and travel around as she does...”
“Don’t worry, I’m here to help you and so is Tikki” Cat Noir said, then Kagami tilted her head.
“Who’s Tikki?”
“She’s a kwami” Responded Cat Noir. “Just like Plagg”
“Ah right”
“I think she and Plagg are opposites, but you and Tikki will get very well along”
“Alright,” Cat Noir said taking out from the pocket of his jacket a miraculous box and handed it to Kagami. “You got in there a pair of earrings, which are your miraculous and you gotta stick them on your ears like normal earrings….except they’re not pierced on your earlobe.” Explained Cat Noir earning a nod from the blue-haired girl. Kagami opened the box and a red light shined brightly making both cover their eyes and the light flew around them and stopped in the middle in front of Kagami’s face and as the light was gone, there levitated a red kwami with a black dot on the forehead and two antennae falling down on the sides of her head.
“Good evening, Kagami” Greeted the kwami.
“She knows my name,” Kagami said looking at Cat Noir.
“Uh I haven’t told her yet”
“Okay, well….Cat Noir told me Ladybug is gone now and that I’m going to be on her place instead”
“That’s correct,” Tikki said flying around her head. “You’re going to be a great hero, I can feel that” The red kwami assured making Kagami feel a little embarrassed.
“What about, if you two try out the miraculous?” Questioned the blonde cat miraculous holder.
“Are you ready Kagami?” Asked Tikki earning a nod from the Japanese girl. “Well I’m going to tell you the basics when you want to transform you say Tikki, Spots on, when you want to transform back you say Tikki, Spots off. Your transformation is unlimited until you have activated your lucky charm, which I’ll explain later, then you only have five minutes until you transform back into yourself automatically.”
“Good and I have also to feed you Camembert?” Questioned the blue-haired girl.
“I’m fine with cookies or anything alike”
“Okay”
“Then uhm...to activate the lucky charm you throw the yo-yo up in the air and shout Lucky Charm and you’ll receive a mysterious object, which you will have to use to defeat the villain, save yourself or anything else, that comes into your mind”
“Uhm okay?”
“There will always be objects, which leave you baffling, but in the end, you will always manage to find a good use” Explained Cat Noir remembering situations with the strangest objects.
“When you freed the Akuma, you catch it with the yo-yo to purify it and so, in the end, he turns into a regular butterfly. Then the last thing for you to do is to throw the yo-yo up in the air and yell Miraculous Ladybug to activate the healing light to restore everything back to normal.”
“Okay, got it”
“After we transform back you can still ask me questions and during the time you’re as Ladybug, you can ask Cat Noir. He also knows how it’s used”
“I’m going to try it out, is that okay?” The Japanese girl asked earning a nod from the red kwami.
“Good, say Tikki Spots on”
“Tikki, Spots on!” Shouted Kagami activating her miraculous earrings to transform herself into a Ladybug-themed superheroine.
“Woah I thought you would wear the same suit as Ladybug” Cat Noir said looking at the new tight suit of the girlfriend.
“Well it still is the same, besides my back is fully black and my arms too,” Kagami said holding her arms up like she was doing the T letter to check herself from behind. “Also around my butt, I’m black colored like a ladybug,”
“You still do look gorgeous in that tight suit” The dark dressed superhero complimented making the new superheroine smirk.
“Dork”
“What, it’s true,” Cat Noir said moving his eyes away from Kagami’s new look. Kagami looked at her waist, where she had her yo-yo hanged on and picked it up, then looked again at Adrien’s alter ego, that glanced back at her.
“Do you want to try it out?” The blonde questioned.
“But there are no akumas or anything”
“I know, but you could try to use it to catch somebody or to travel around with it?” Suggested the French superhero while Kagami looked at the yo-yo, then rolled it down and pulled it up.
“Yeah, what do we use as an obstacle for me to practice?”
“Well….” The cat miraculous holder said looking around for anything useful, but then he had another idea and ran at the other side of the tower’s platform and stretched his arms.
“I’ll be your obstacle”
“Uh okay,” Kagami said rolling her yo-yo down to spin it around with her right arm, then she threw it towards Cat Noir hitting him on the face shrieking her. “Oh no, I’m so sorry” Apologized the girlfriend covering her face shocked about her mishap.
“I’m fine,” The boy said looking at the yo-yo on the ground. “I think you have to pull it back like you were using a normal yo-yo except this one is magical”
“Alright,” Kagami said pushing the yo-yo back to her, which retrieved the whole cord back into it, so only the top of the cord tied around her finger was out.
“Alright Kagami, try it out again” Cat Noir ordered earning a nod from the blue-haired girl, which threw the yo-yo from the side at Cat Noir’s direction passing around his legs, then Kagami raised her eyebrows as she didn’t fail this time, then pushed her yo-yo to fasten it around Cat Noir’s legs.
“Well done” Complimented Cat Noir, then he removed the cord from his feet and it got pulled back into the yo-yo.
“Cool, what shall we do next?” Questioned Kagami, therefore, the blonde superhero looked up at the top of the Eiffel tower and had another idea.
“Throw the yo-yo at the top, then pull yourself up to it”
“Uh, do you think this is going to work out?” Questioned Kagami looking up at her boyfriend.
“It will go fine” Answered the superhero. “If not, I’m there to catch you” The cat-themed superhero said causing the blue-haired heroine to smile, then look up at the antenna and spin her yo-yo around like a lasso, then she threw it at the antenna, afterward the yo-yo rolled a few times around it tight, then Kagami pulled on the cord and she got pulled up at the tower, scaring Cat Noir, which took out his baton and extended it to jump up in the air to follow the girl, which flew above the top of the Eiffel tower and Cat Noir caught the girl, then they passed beside the Eiffel tower falling down.
“Quick, aim your yo-yo down at the middle of the tower” Ordered the superhero and Kagami ejected out her yo-yo down at one of the bars over the space in the middle of the tower, which got tied around it by itself, then both passed through the open space and both landed on their feet.
“Whoa, this was insane!” Kagami shouted looking at Cat Noir taking his staff back.
“The more we do that the more used you get to the yo-yo and know how to use it in dangerous occasions like this” Cat Noir explained.
“Yes you’re correct,” The Japanese girl said. “Can we practice somewhere else my yo-yo skills?” Questioned the brown-eyed girl looking at the green eyes behind the sclerae.
“I have to think about, where we could go and do that” Cat Noir said placing his hand under his chin to think off something, then they heard a loud noise of a car’s engine, followed by a police siren and both looked at the streets to see a pimped vehicle racing on the streets and a police car trying to keep up with it.
“What do we say, if we help them to stop the racer?” Questioned Cat Noir. “This is actually easy,” The blonde said earning a now more confident smirk.
“Good”
“Then let’s go!” Demanded Cat Noir using his staff to jump up high in the air to the car bridge running behind the two vehicles, then Kagami looked up at the Eiffel tower, after that she watched her boyfriend followed the others and ran out at the streets throwing her yo-yo at the lightened stake tighten it around then she swung forwards with her yo-yo and got down on her feet running now over the sidewalk on the bridge of Lena and did the same step on a few posts further to swing closer to her partner to assist him in the pursuit.

Origins Day 1 Part 3
A green light orb flew from the ring causing Adrien to lean back and shield his eyes as if flew up in the hair, hovering a few inches above the jewellery box and ring. The light died down to reveal some sort of… was that a small flying cat with a oversized head.
Did someone forget to tell him he was the star of an anime?
The cat like creature stretched its arms out with a large yawn, revealing a black tongue, though the rest of the inside of its mouth was purple. The cat thing slouched forward, looking tired.
Adrien leaned forward, trying to get a better look. “No way. Like the genie in the lamp.” Adrien couldn’t help but comment to himself. This was so cool. He reached out to try and poke the thing.
“I met him once.” The flying cat thing said, speaking perfect French, leaning away from his touch. “So he grants wishes, big deal. I’m way more personable. Plagg nice to meet you.”
Before Adrien could introduce himself the thing went flying across his room with a ‘oh’. He went over the the foosball table. “Swanky.” The cat said before opening its, or was it a he? the voice was defiantly masculine, mouth and bitting down on one of the players heads.
“No! Don’t touch that.” Adrien said, now unsure if the thing was dangerous or not and if it could actually bite through the metal of the players head. He dove forward trying to grab the thing.
“Hey come back,” he demanded as the thing flew away, it’s attention caught by something else.
“Oh, it’s so shiny,” the thing said, landing on one of his arcade machines. “Can you eat this?” it asked biting down on the red handle of the joy stick, not waiting for a response. It pulled away from it. “No you can’t,” Adrien dove for it but once again it’s attention was caught by something else. “Oh, what about this?”
Being a star in an anime wasn’t nearly as cool as he thought it’d be.
A red light orb flew from the earnings causing Marinette to fling it away from her with a shriek as she turned her head away, closing her eyes to protect them from the light. She peeked one eye at the flying orb to see the light burn away to reveal…
Marinette shoved herself away from the desk and that.. thing, with a scream, flying to her feet. “Help.” She yelled, though her voice didn’t come out nearly loud enough for her parents to hear all the way in the bakery. “It’s a giant bug…a mouse…a bug mouse.”
She honestly wasn’t sure exactly what that thing flying in her room was.
“Everything’s okay,” the thing said. Oh my god it could talk. And now it way flying closer. “Don’t be scared.”
Too late for that.
Marinette reached over and picked up the first object she could off her desk, a book, and threw it at the thing, screaming a bit as she did so. “The mouse talks.” What was her life coming to. She threw another book following by other and her case of paperclips and a notebook.
The red thing dogged everything she threw at it, coming closer and closer. Marinette tripped over the ceiling beam that connected to her floor, falling on her butt. She wasn’t about to let the stop her, taking a shoebox and throwing it at the thing.
“Listen Marinette.” The thing said. Trying to hit the thing wasn’t working so Marinette tried reaching around for something to trap it in, never taking her eyes off it. “I know everything may seem a bit strange to you but-“
Marinette took the cup she found and slammed it over the thing, trapping it.
“Okay.” The thing said, looking resigned to it’s fate. “If that makes you feel safer.”
“What are you? and how did you know my name?” Marinette asked.
“I’m a Kwami,” the thing said, putting a hand to it’s chest, “and my name is Tikki. Now just let me explain.”
Yeah, an explanation would be good.
Adrien quickly scaled his way up his rock wall, keeping as close of an eye as he could on the flying creature, which was now nibbling on the TV remote, without falling down. He made sure he was lined up properly before pushed away from the wall, twisting and diving towards the creating, hands outreached to grab it.
The creature screamed as Adrien’s hands closed around it and they smacked against the couch.
“I still don’t know what you’re doing here.” Adrien said, wanting answers.
The thing turned to him looking unimpressed, though according to the internet, that’s just how cats were. “Look, I’m a Kwami. I grant powers. Yours is the power of destruction, got it?”
“Uh uh.” Adrien said with a shake of his head.
“Good.” The thing, the kwami, said. “Now, you got anything to eat? I’m starving.”
Adrien pulled himself to his feet, the kwami still tightly held in his hands. “My dad’s pranking me, right?” he said to the thing. “Wait, he couldn’t be, he had no sense of humour.”
The kwami pulled itself from his grip, flying to eye level with Adrien. “Your father must never know that I exist.” The creature ordered. “Or anyone for that matter.”
Marinette looked at the thing and when it didn’t start talking again, she placed her left arm on the cup so this Kwami thing couldn’t push it way out, reaching her right arm out to open the trap door.
“Mom!” she yelled. This was way to freaky for her to deal with on her own. “Dad!”
She ignored whatever the thing was saying as it tried to make her be quiet. That was until it flew through the glass cup she’d trapped it in and hovered over her right hand.
“I’m your friend Marinette,” the thing said to her. “You must trust me. You’re the only one who can stop Stoneheart.”
Stoneheart? Is that what the news was calling Ivan now that he went all super villain-y?
Marinette allowed the trap door to fall back down, as she pushed herself to her feet. “This has to be some mistake.” she told the red kwami. “The only superpower I could possibly have is super awkwardness.” Marinette suddenly perked up as her brain went to her new seat mate. “I know, Alya would know.” She was a superhero fan after all. “That’s my friend, well at least I think she would. She loves superheroes, she’d totally be up for the job. You should go see her.”
The kwami flew until it was eye level to Marinette, who leaned back to be farther away from it. “Marinette,” it said, “You’re the chosen one.”
What, was she suddenly in one of those animes Adrien loved so much and someone forgot to tell her? Cause if so, so not cool.
“But I’m stuck here.” Adrien pointed out to the flying kwami, Plagg. It was telling him he was suppose to take down the rock villain but there was no way her could. “I’m not even allowed to go to school. What good is a superhero who’s imprisoned in his own house?”
Plagg ran buy, balancing on a roll of toilet paper. “No good.” He? Adrien was going with he, said. “That’s why it’s all going to change soon, if you’re willing to change that is.”
Adrien looked down at the white metal ring in his hand that Plagg had said would give him the power to take down Stoneheart. Was he really doing to disobey his father and sneak out to go fight a super villain?
Ha, did you even need to ask.
Marinette picked up the earrings, placing one in her ear as Tikki had said. “Okay, so all i have to do is break the object where the whatchamacallit is hiding.” Marinette said. She was glad to know Ivan wasn’t really a super villain, even if he was being controlled by one.
“It’s called an Akuma,” Tikki said again. “Which you must then capture.”
“Got it.” Marinette said with a little nod. “Capture it, and what’s that charm thing again?”
“The Lucky Charm; it’s your secret super power.” Tikki said.
Marinette groaned. “This is all going too fast, Tikki. I-I-I won’t be Abel to pull this off.” How could she be a hero? She was clumsy and forget and was missing two limbs. What kind of superhero didn’t have all their limbs? Sure there was Bionica, but she was half robot. It wasn’t the same.
“Trust yourself Marinette.” Tikki said. “Just say ‘spots on’.”
“Spots on?” Marinette so shouldn’t have said that. A noise came from her earrings as Tikki flew towards her, a big light surrounding them.
“What is happening?” Marinette asked. panicky, as Tikki flew into the earrings.
Marinette was temporarily blinded, as the light filled the room. She felt something slid across her eyes along her arms and down her legs. The light faded just as quickly as it appeared. Marinette looked down and saw a bunch of red and black.
Adrien slipped the ring on, marvelling at how well it fit. He didn’t normally like rings but this one felt like it belonged.
Plagg poked his head of of a empty toilet paper roll, the rest of his body still inside it.  “Claws out,” he said. “That’s how you transform.”
“Got it,” Adrien said, feeling excited. Freedom was just around the corner. “Plagg, claws out.” He pushed the hand the ring was on towards the kwami
“No, I haven’t finished explaining!” Plagg yelled as she was sucked towards and then into the ring.
Adrien could feel what he assumed to be magic, flowing all around him as a bright green light surrounded him. He reached out towards the magic allowing it to surround him and move him. He swiped across his eyes, leaving a mask behind, before running his hands across his head leaving behind cat ears. He threw his arms out allowing the magic suit to form around him, all the way down to his toes. He did expect the tail that yanked around his waist but the claws were cool.
The green light died down and he looked down at his hands which were now covered in a black material, somewhere between leather and spandex but not rubber. “Too cool.” He said grinning down at his hands.
Moving towards her floor length mirror to get a better look, Marinette didn’t know how she felt. A part of her felt like she was wearing a stupid halloween costume while another part of her thought she looked cool. The first thing she noticed wasn’t the fact that her left arm and leg where still prosthetics, but the fact that the rest of her looked quite robotic. Sure she had your average domino mask, though hers was red with five black polkadots on it, like most heroes to hide her identity. And her fingers, midsection and pelvic all seemed to be covered in some sort of material; one she’d never seen before, which was saying something but you know, magic apparently. As this said typical hero well enough but then the rest of her body was covered in red and black polkadot plated armour that had a distinct robotic look to them. It was nice because it didn’t right away make it obvious that she had prosthetics, which was good for her secret identity. Her bangs were the same but her ponytails were a couple inches longer, meeting to a perfect point at the end. NOT TO MENTION THE FACT THAT HER HAIR WASN’T BLACK ANYMORE. No it was a blue colour that was someone in the Yale to Prussian blue colour house. Not that the shade matter; HER HAIR WAS BLUE!
Tikki said nothing about this physically changing her appearance. Was it going to go back? Or would she have blue hair forever? Sure someone people said her black hair looked blue under certain lighting but that didn’t mean they wouldn’t notice her with legit blue hair. Marinette reached her hands up to rest on her head, her right hand fingers digging in her hair at the disaster that this day was turning into and felt her left fingers dig in as well.
Marinette jerked back, flinging her hands out in front of her. She looked at her left arm n fascination. She could tell it was a prosthetic but it wasn’t acting like any she had before. Ashe focused on her fight arm, flexing her nub (the term of choice she used for her residual limb, aka her left elbow to where her arm was amputated) as she would to grip down with her normal prosthetic, but instead of all the fingers closing together, her pinkie went first, causing a domino effect as the rest of her fingers followed suit.
Marinette wasn’t sure how to move forward. To work her normal arm it picked up  two different muscles and depending on how she flexed them depended on how her hand opened and closed but she wasn’t able to individually control fingers. She decided to focus on the hand itself, hoping magic would do the rest, telling herself she was going to just lift up her pointed finger. Sure enough just her pointer finger lifted up. Marinette played around with lifting her left fingers and turning her wrist by itself before horror took hold of her.
What if Tikki had made her part robot like Bionica and that’s why her prosthetic moved more like her flesh arm and hand then it did like a normal prosthetic.
Panic gripped Marinette’s heart; she hadn’t sighed up for this. She grabbed the arm prosthetic and tried pulling it off like she would her normal prosthetic but it didn’t budge.
“How does this thing come off?” Marinette demanded. “Tikki, if you can hear me, I want my normal body back. I don’t want to be a superhero.”
The news broadcast still playing on Marinettes computer caught her attention as cameras continued to follow Ivan across town. “After wrecking the Société* Towers, Stoneheart is heading towards the Montparnasse Tower. The monster seems to be unstoppable.”
But Marinette wasn’t listening anymore. “Alya,” she whispered in horror as she saw her new friend biking behind Stoneheart.
“Marinette, did I hear you calling for us before?” Her moms voice came from bellow the trapped door. Marinette took a break for the stairs to the loft, praying her mom didn’t see her.
“Yeah but I figured it out.” Marinette called back down to her mom just as her moms head poked through the trapped door.
“Marinette are you in here?” She asked.
“Just headed up to tend to my flowers,” Marinette said, so her mom didn’t worry. before hopping up to her balcony.
“Oaky,” Marinette said to herself. It was time to figure out what to do. “Okay, I have special powers, and apparently this amusing super yoyo thingy.”
God, this was a disaster.
Marinette flung her yoyo over the edge of balcony in frustration only to have it fly across several streets and hook around something.
She tried pulling on it to get it to come back. The string did start retracting but instead of the yoyo returning to her, it pulled her off her feet and dragged her through the air.
Marinette did the only reasonable thing. she screamed.
Adrien extended the baton his suit had come with that never seemed to end, setting in on the roofs of two different buildings before he slowly made his way across.
“I’m getting the hang of this.” He said., starting to feel more confident. He was so going to rock this superhero thing.
Adrien looked up, did he hear screaming?

*I couldn’t quite understand what tower the reporter said was destroyed but upon looking up towers in Paris to try and figure it out, this one is potentially the closest to what I heard.

Sweeter Chapter 9
Adrien blinked his tired eyes against the white morning light starting to trickle in through his curtains, he hadn’t slept all night. He had gotten home, released his transformation, and finished the math homework he had taken a break from, slipped out of his clothes, and jumped into bed; all the while wearing the same stupid smile that had been stuck on his face since she flew away into the night, the same smile that he tiredly wore now.
How was he supposed to sleep when his dreams were coming true around him? He was sure he had fallen asleep when he had seen her standing there ribbons whipping in cold fall wind, but when they almost kissed he was positive he had died and gone to heaven. She almost let me kiss her he thought for maybe the thousandth time, why did she run? It wasn’t enough to discourage him but it did raise a concern in his giddy heart. He knew the answer or at least he thought he might, they didn’t really know each other and maybe they never would. It didn’t stop him, he knew how he felt; he knew she felt it too. Okay maybe he didn’t KNOW but god did he hope, he hoped more than he had ever let himself hope before. How could he not when he felt the chemistry of their casual interaction like ebb and pull of the tide.
He flipped on his side picking up his phone to look at the time; it was about a half an hour till his alarm was going to go off. Best to just shower and ask the chefs for a double espresso at this point He thought as he rubbed the weary feeling out his eyes. Managing to roll out of bed without waking his snoring kwami he headed off to the bathroom. Normally he would play a podcast or an audio book over his bathroom speaker but he needed to wake up plus part of him really wanted to dance. He clicked on his songs of choice and stepped into the steaming water. “You brought me fame and fortune and everything that goes with it I thank you all.” He began to sing over the light cascading of water around him, before long the chorus was flying out his lungs, his wet hair stuck to his forehead as his vocal cords tired to match the high pitch of Freddie Mercury.
Feeling better after a shower, he laughed to himself, hearing the lyrics of the song bounce in his head he was the champion.  He had for a moment captured the attention of the most powerful, confidant, kind hearted women in the entire city of Paris.
He opened the door and was met with glowing lime green eyes shaded in cynicism “Don’t you think you’re awfully cocky for someone who couldn’t stick the landing?”
“Shut up Plagg” Adrien said tossing his towel towards his Kawmi who just evaporated though. “You can’t ruin this, it’s too good.”
“For you!” Plagg said glaring, his eyes narrow slits.
“What do you mean?” Adrien said jumping in to a pair of black jeans.
“She seemed pretty confused by the whole thing, why do you think she ran?”
Adrien paused for a moment, he didn’t want to cause his lady any kind of distress “hmm why are you helping me with romance, you hate this side of humans.”
“Because you have been chasing after this girl for years and I’m not going to let you screw it up as soon as you show any progress.” He said it as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. “So pause for a moment and think, how do you think her morning is going Monsieur Romance?”
He tussled his damp golden locks as he walked towards his large glass windows and stared across the glowing horizon. “I think she is surprised by her feelings, whatever they may be, but I saw her smile before leaving. She may be a little confused and lost but I’m not giving up, not now, not now that I’m so close, closer then I have ever been.” He took a deep sigh as sunlight sparkled across his hauntingly hopeful green eyes.
I’m so close
0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o
Things were blurry, but slowly they were coming into focus, his hand on her thigh as he hoisted her against the wall. His lips were on hers and they were as soft as she had hoped, his other clawed hand slowly traveled down her latex clad arm. Her breath hitched as he grabbed her hips pulling himself as close as possible, his eyes cracked open to look at her, they were filled with a delicious darkness as he drank her in.
“My Lady” he whispered huskily as he dragged his hand slowly between her legs.
Marinettes eyes shot open as she awoke from her rather steamy dream, “TIKKI!!” she shouted as panic filled her flustered body.
Her favorite little red blob flew up and landed on her knee “What’s wrong Marinette?” she squeaked as raven haired girl reached for her phone to check the time. She was relieved to know she still had time before she had to get ready; she took a deep breath running her fingers through her hair and down to her neck where they rested comfortably.
She turned to Tikki as confusion and desire danced across her expressive features. “What the hell h-happened to me last night?” She had no idea what had come over her. She had be exhausted when she had got home and dismissed the whole event  as a moment of adrenaline but, for him to follow her into her dreams and in the way that he did proved to her that more was going on.
Tikki giggle softly “Well I think we figured out you’re attracted to Chat Noir.”
Marinette pouted not wanting to face the truth but the more she thought about it the more she realized how true it was. She had never known Chat out of their work, but now to see him in all of his complexities, and unique qualities she found herself drawn to him. God, and the way he looked at her when she was Ladybug? Would make anyone feel as high as she did on top of the world, sharing his warmth, I almost kissed him. She thought for the first time, letting the realization set in, she groaned grabbing a fist full of her hair as she fell back into her puddle of pillows. “How did this happen Tikki!!?”
The God patted her knee where she sat trying to comfort the confused teenage girl. “The heart can be a fickle mess, but let’s talk through this.” She said sympathetically “So we know you’re attracted to him, what do you find attractive about him?”
She was quite staring at the patterns in her ceiling “I-I don’t know…” red glowing from her cheeks as a list of Chats many attractive features filled her imagination.
“Come now Marinette, what do you like about him? Do you have feelings for him?” She wanted Marinette to open her heart and trust herself.
She closed her eyes and relaxed a little “I love how he makes me feel like I can do anything” she started softly “loyalty, I love how I know he will always be there when I need him, I like how when things seem hopeless he is still cracking jokes” With each thing listed her timid smile grew wider and wider. “He can be so silly, I love his passion, I even like how wild he can be.”She opened her eyes in shock “I do have feelings for him.” She thought she only had room for one blond haired, green eyed hunk in her heart, but I guess another found his way in.
She bolted upright feeling anxious about her newly discovered feelings “I barely know him and he doesn’t really know me, what do I do?! Even if I wanted things to work out it never could! We would have to revel ourselves and that’s completely out of the question! We would have to be so careful if Hawkmoth found out he could use it against us and put everyone we love in danger!” She set her hands in her lap defeated
“If you really care for him, I know you could find a way.” Tikki said not wanting her to lose hope
Marinette alarm started to ring loudly breaking her out of the moment and forcing her to look at the image she had set as her screensaver. The picture calmed her restless heart “I may have feelings for Chat” she said calmly as she snoozed her alarm “A part of me might even want to be with him but…”
“Don’t you dare look better than me!” She said teasingly as she held up her phone getting both of their faces in frame.
“I’ll try my hardest.” He said posing with his go-to photo shoot smile, it’s not that she hated that smile; she just preferred his real one.
“Hey Mr. Model you got something on your shirt.” She said with a playful smirk
“Huh? Wher-“he wasn’t able to finish the question before her finger flicked his nose interrupting him. “Oh my god I can’t believe I fell for that!” He said beginning to laugh
She loved the way his face lit up when he genuinely smiled, that’s when she chose to snap the picture.
That’s what she wanted; she wanted to make him happy. He hid it well, but there are moments when he thinks nobody is watching, his mask breaks, and you see the sad lonely boy underneath. She wanted to fill every second of his life with love and warmth and to see that genuine happiness flowing out of him never to go away.
“But?” Tikki asked a twinkle in her wise eyes.
“I’m so close.” Marinette responded breathlessly as she looked up from her phone. The answer hung in the air and filled the room with a spark of hope; she couldn’t give up on him, not now.
“And today is Step 3!!” Tikki excitedly added, proud of Marinette for following her heart.
“And today is Step 3” she whispered to herself suddenly aware of the time “Tikki I need to get ready!!” She said detangling her blankets and climbing down the ladder. Tikki observed the champion of Paris rush around her small pink room rambling about what she should say, if she should throw in a cheesy pun, or if she should try be cool and nonchalant. Her deep blue eyes watched in wonderment at how quickly they always seem to grow and how no matter what, things always seemed to fall into place. They will find each other soon; it’s only a matter of time.
“Tikki hurry eat your breakfast we have to leave soon.” She said while loosely braiding her hair finishing it off with a silver ribbon that matched her silver flats.
Tikki floated to where soft lemon cookies awaited her “I like your outfit today Marinette” she commented “It looks very you!”
She smiled wide at the compliment twirling her grey skirt “Thanks! I especially like the spots.”  She said in reference to her pink sweater with white dots.  “It is like Marinette and Ladybug all in one!”
“Because they are!” Tikki squeaked happily
“Because I am” Marinette agreed with a chuckle

Nino was taping his pen endlessly to some unknown beat as Adrien tried to focus on the power point in front of him. Bullet points and letters flew out his fingers but never entered his brain; all he could think about was her lips, her eyes, and her hair. He went to reread his notes he found notes of a different kind.
Blue eyes that drown me
Hair as black as midnight
Pink lips as soft as clouds
She is ocean, sky and everything in-between.
The sound of silence got his attention, he noticed that the tapping had ended; he looked over at Nino just in time to detect him leaning over his shoulder trying to copy what was written. He felt his cheeks flame as went to quickly cover up his notebooks.
“Aww come on man I totally spaced out during that last slide!” Nino whispered.
“Later” Adrien said with a huff.
“Fine.” Mumbled Nino grumpily “oh, by the way me and Alya are going on another lunch date, so it looks like it’s going to be you and your special study buddy.”
“okay cool.”Adrien responded distractedly
“Dude what is with you today, your head has been in the clouds all morning and you look exhausted”
“Just didn’t sleep well.” He said dreamily
“Oh? Have a certain lady on your mind?”
“hmmmm laady…” he slurred as the weight of his head rested upon his fist as his eyelids started to droop closed.
“God knows what the two of you do in the back of that library, must be quite the party if it keeps you up all night.”
“Wait what?!” He said snapping awake
“Adrien! Nino! Please save your conversation for outside of class, some of my students want to be prepared for their test tomorrow.”
“Yes monsieur.” Nino and Adrien said in apology
“Just as clueless as ever…” Nino muttered to himself but loud enough for Adrien to hear
Why do people keep calling me that?
0o0o0o0o0o0o00o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0
Marinette was deaf to the sound of the bell over the thundering of her heart. There is no avoiding it, if she didn’t do it at lunch the whole thing was off. She couldn’t help it, she was worried about all the things that could go wrong, about stumbling through the whole thing, but even though she could imagine all of that, she couldn’t seem to picture him saying no. They are friends now, why wouldn’t he want to spend time with her?
“Marinette!” a stern voice shook her from her thoughts “while I’m thrilled that you enjoy my class so much you don’t want to go, teachers need to eat lunch too.”
“Pardon me.” She squeaked and scurried out of the classroom
Her heartbeat became the rhythm to her death march as she slowly went down the hall dreading the progress she was going to make. If she just stayed right here with him, things would never have to change they can stay good friends forever, but if she moved forward who knows what could happen.  Her feet stopped moving at the thought of losing everything she gained, she was so scared. What does ladybug do when she is scared, that’s right she fights her fears, she does what is right, and does running away feel right? No, not today, not ever.
With that she felt the courage renewed in her as she turned the corner to face a terrifying but beautiful creature. Only to find him with pencils in his mouth impersonating a walrus so well that milk was coming out of Ninos nose. She snorted at the sight in front of her and she felt her body relax he is just a normal person she reminded herself and a complete dork. All of her worries and fears melted away as she approached the stairs where all her best friends were waiting.
“Ladies and Gentlemen, Madams and Monsieur’s” Alya shouted before gesturing to Adrian “I give you the sophisticated upper-class model Adrien Agrest!”
“Arf, Arf” Adrien said clapping in response losing the pencils in the process.
“S-stop it” Nino said barely able to breathe “you- guys are- killing- me”
“What weird circus show is happening here?” Marinette asked joining the conversation
“It’s actually Adriens comedy special and this is his best material.” Alya stated rolling her eyes
“Say what you want babe this man is hilarious, I’m still recovering from all that milk that came out of my nose.”
“Awww thanks man, you’re so sweet.”
“And now that I have that sexy image in my brain again, we can go have a romantic lunch by river side.” She said standing up and grabbing Ninos hand “Come on babe lets go.”
“Alright, see you guys around.”
“Bye girl, oh and good luck” Alya said with a wink.
“Thanks” she said sternly but with a small smile, turning towards Adrien she gestured up the stairs “shall we?”
“Lead the way Dollface” he said as he followed her up the stairs “So what was Alya wishing you luck for?” he asked curiously
“O-o-oh that? That was about a…um…a quiz! That I have next period and was a little nervous about.”
Smooth totally nailed it
“If you wanted we could work on that instead of Literature homework so you feel better about it”
He is so cute and helpful
“No it all right besides since you will be at your photo shoot during class we should get as much work done as we can.”
“Yeah sorry about that, I hate leaving you with that daily analysis, but my dad is really laying on the pressure when it comes to his winter line.” He said as he opened the door for her
“It’s all good just bring me some of the best shots from the shoot and we will call it even.”
Adrien felt his cheeks warm “Um-“
“For fashion reasons, to study, not to um study you, to look at designs and stuff.” She said rapidly as she felt the blood rush to her face. So she wasn’t perfect, she still stuttered and made a fool of herself sometimes the point is she keeps trying.
He chuckled at her embarrassment and gave her one of his dashing smirks “Anything for you Dollface” he said as he plopped down into a cheap red loveseat by a tall window in the back of the library. “Do you want to read first or should I?”
“I don’t mind going first” she said smiling at him as she sat in the green chair that looked just like his own and was placed by it as well there was a small table in front of them as well where they had set their things.
These moments had become his favorite part of school; it’s what he dreamed school could always be. They would trade off every other chapter; while she read he would close his eyes or stare out the window and just listen, she read beautifully, her voice was soft and smooth like silk but it was also filled with such personality. While he would read, she would sketch the outfits of the characters, sometimes they were modernized, sometimes they were historically accurate, but they were always beautiful, she would always laugh at the silly voices he would do when certain characters talked. When they had finished the assigned chapters, they would talk what seem like forever about the story its many different layers, how it might end, which people they liked more and why. Then they would just talk about everything, his life, the bakery, video games, his poetry, Alya and Nino, her designs, everything. He didn’t understand how they had gotten to where they are now but he didn’t care, he felt so comfortable and safe around her, she had become his best friend (Not that he would ever admit that to Nino).
He wanted to tell somebody about last night, he knew he couldn’t, not even Nino could know, but he wanted to share with someone about this great joy that had been bubbling in him and all the confusing questions he had.
”Alright Agreste you’re up!” Marinette said sweetly
“Marinette can I ask you something?”
“Sure”
“I-It’s about girls…” he added nervously
“Oh? Umm okay” she said shyly twisting the end of her braid.
“So I like this girl, and she has been kind of distant from me in the past but now I feel like we are getting closer…”
“Uh huh go on” Marinette heart had stopped along with her breathing, could he be talking about her?
“But you see I’m worried if I try anything or tell her how I feel, she will go back to being distant and I don’t know what I would do if that happened.” He looked so sad so confused it allowed her to clear away her fearful and selfish thoughts. He needed a friend even if he was or wasn’t talking about her she had to be logical and give him good advice.
“I think you should be patient, let this girl feel comfortable around you, then when the moment is right approach her and tell her the truth, but no matter what she says don’t let it ruin your friendship.” At least that’s the advice she has been giving herself for the last few years.
He smiled and nodded “That’s some really good advice, way better than most of Ninos advice, he is always like, dude just go with the flow”
Marinette couldn’t help but giggle Adrian’s Nino impersonation was spot on not to mention it was hilarious to hear him talk like a dude bro.  “So are you gonna read me the next chapter or what?”
“Alright no more distractions” he began to read the next chapter but instead of pulling out her sketch book like she usually did, she just sat at closed her eyes like he would do. He kept reading but every now and again he would look up at her, god she really is pretty. He had accepted the fact that he was undeniably attracted to Marinette, though sometime he still felt guilty about it both because he felt a loyalty to Ladybug but also because Marinette looked a lot like her so he felt as though he was projecting those feelings on to her, which was completely unfair.  Stop thinking about her that way man, you almost kissed Ladybug last night and now you are checking out your friend, not cool, get your shit together
When the chapter came to an end there was only 5 minutes left of lunch. “Wow that was a long one.” Marinette said stretching her arms above her head “Adrien…”
“Yes?” he said while beginning to pack up his things
“Can I ask you a question?”
“Sure, anything” He stopped and gave her his full attention.
She smiled at that “Um well I was wondering if you would like to go with me tomorrow to the poetry slam thing at like this coffee shop?”
Adriens eye lit up like fireworks “Are you kidding me?! That sounds awesome! I would love to!”
She was beaming now, not because of her own happiness which was filling her up, but because of his “Really?”
“Of course, that exactly the sort of thing I would love, thank so much for thinking of me!” He was so excited, he wasn’t really allowed to out in public much because of his father, but fuck his dad he was going to start living his life weather Gabriel Agreste approved or not. The bell rang signaling the end of lunch “Oh shoot gotta run my class is like on the other side of the school, what time is it at?”
Marinette face hurt because of the smile she could not get rid of “It starts at 6:30 but I figure we could walk from the bakery together, so meet at my house around 6?”
“Thanks Marinette, you really are the best.” He said bounding away and out the door. Leaving the sweet raven haired girl unable to move or remove the giddy look from her face.
“Psst Marinette you got to get to class.” Tikki whispered from her purse
“He said yes” She said in a daze “HE SAID YES!!” She repeated jumping into the air pumping her fists in celebration.  When she settled down a bit she began to gather her things “We better go Tikki I got to get to class.”
The small God just shook her head in a knowing and loving way at how things always seem to fall into place

Much Obliged (2)
Based on @bugaboo-n-bananoir‘s amazing Cowboy!Adrien and Witch!Marinette AU.
It’s important to know that almost everything is the same in this AU. I’m just changing them from superheroes to a witch and a cowboy. (A magically enhanced Cowboy, but I digress.)
Ao3
Part One
“I’m not crazy, am I Tikki?” Marinette asked.
It had been a week since school started, and every time Marinette made eye contact with the sweet Cowboy, she felt her face flush. He was just so kind, honest, and smart! Not to mention adorable!
She had collected an array of photos from his modeling career, but it almost seemed like looking at a different person without the Cowboy charm.
“Not crazy, just in love.”
“Oh please,” Marinette waved her off. “I would hardly call it love. But…I can’t stop thinking about him.”
“That’s normal. Especially when you spend 8 hours a day with him and his boots.” Tikki giggled.
“But I’ve been stuttering and stammering around him all week! He probably thinks I’m a weirdo!”
“Marinette...he thinks he’s a Cowboy.”
“What? No, he is a Cowboy. Just like I’m a witch. We went over this.”
“Okay, if you say so. If you really want to get over your stammering, you just need to talk to him. Invite him to hang out!”
“What? Like a date?”
“Not necessarily. A strong friendship is often a great place to start a relationship. Who knows, you might like him more as a friend anyway!”
Marinette put a finger to her chin. “Hmmm...I suppose so. But what would we do? I don’t know how much we have in common yet!”
“You could take him for a flight! He seemed really interested in it!”
“Hey yeah!” She looked to her window, where the full moon was shining through. “I’ll go now!”
“Now??”
“Yeah! It’ll be a surprise! And it’s a Friday night, so we don’t have school tomorrow.”
“You’ve talked me into it! Let’s go sweep that boy off his feet!”
Marinette grabbed her broomstick, which was propped up by the door to her balcony. Instead of putting on her new hat, she put on the Cowboy hat Adrien had given her.
“How do I look?” Marinette twirled.
“Mighty purdy!” Tikki giggled.
“Don’t make fun of him!”
“I’m not! I think it’s cute!”
After that, they flew together out the window.
Marinette didn’t actually know where Adrien lived, but in the era of GPS, she could look up his address for fan mail and find his house.
It was only around the corner from her! Small world!
A huge mansion, with a tall wall all the way around it, Marinette was surprised that she hadn’t guessed it first.
As she floated around the house, she found a wall of windows, the lights out inside. But there was a light on over the desk, and a boy hard at work.
The same boy she had been looking for.
He was doing his homework, likely so he could have the weekend free. His hat was on the coffee table, his boots kicked off nearby. And his flannel was untucked and unbuttoned.
A black cat sat on his lap, which he stroked absently.
Delicately, Marinette tapped on the glass.
Adrien perked up at the noise, startled. Then he turned to look at the window and his eyes lit up with joy.
He shoved the cat off his lap and went to the window.
“Well! I’ll be! A little witch has appeared at my window! To what do I owe the pleasure?”
She blushed at how happy he sounded to see her. “You sounded interested when I brought up flying the other day. The moon is beautiful out. I thought you might like to take a spin?”
“You’ve come to sweep me off my feet?” His eyes twinkled with mirth.
“That I have, buckaroo.”
He took her in. “My, you ride side saddle like a pro! But cha ain’t got no saddle!”
She giggled. “I don’t need a saddle! It’s a broom!”
“Sure you do! Every self respecting steed needs a saddle, come on in, and I’ll see what I can rustle up!”
Marinette floated through the open window and hovered over the plush carpet.
His room was huge. Her parents entire apartment could probably fit inside it. Despite Adrien’s proclivities towards the American West, the room wasn’t quite as rustic as she imagined. Though, much more rustic than any other place in Paris, she assumed. He had a rock wall, and a skateboarding ramp. And on the second story, yeah, he had a second story, there was a collection of movies.
She assumed most were westerns.
As for the decor, well...there was a mechanical bull in the corner. She also spied a genuine cattle skull and a cow skin blanket over the bed.
Wait was that a wagon wheel?
Adrien returned from the closet. “Ah ha! Here we are!” He held a thick wool blanket over his arm. “I knew my actual saddles wouldn’t fit on the stick. So let’s give this a try.”
“It really is sweet of you, Adrien. But I don’t really need it.”
“Ya sure? Don’t want cha gettin’ splinters in your cooter.”
Marinette doubled over in laughter, loosing her balance and falling off the broom, right into Adrien’s arms. She didn’t even have the mind to be embarrassed. She just hugged him and laughed harder.
Adrien laughed right along with her, wrapping his arms around her waist.
“Golly Marinette, your laughter sure is contagious!” He giggled, looking down at her.
She looked up, meeting his eyes. Her laughter faded, seeing how close he was. Their noses were almost touching.
“I-I-I couldn’t help it...you just make me laugh.”
“That’s swell!” He squeezed her and put her on her feet. “Well, I don’t want to pressure you into takin’ this if it’ll make things harder for you.”
“I’m willing to give it a try. May I?”
“Shore!” He handed the blanket over.
The broom still levitated, and Adrien watched as she wrapped the blanket around the handle once, and then draped the remaining over the edges. Then she sat down again.
“Oh! This is nice! A little more surface area to sit along with the cushion!”
“Glad I could be of some service!”
“Want to try it out?”
“You’re sure I won’t be too heavy?”
“Positive!”
A new voice spoke. “It’s powered by magic after all!” A red fairy-bug-thing flew out of her hat.
“Ah! A Flying varmit!”
“No no Adrien!” Marinette waved her arms to calm him down. “This is my familiar, Tikki. She’s the embodiment of my magic.”
Adrien rested a hand on his heart. “Beggin’ your pardon ma’am! You just spooked me!”
“Tikki has a tendency to do that.”
“Is she always with you? I ain’t never seen her before.”
“Yes, she’s usually in my purse.”
“Boy, I wish I had a constant companion. All I got is Plagg, but he’s more of a bully than a friend.”
“Plagg?” Marinette asked.
“My cat.” He pointed at the black blob that had taken up residence on his chair.
Marinette rolled up her sleeves. “I think I can help with that!” She raised her hands, as her eyes glowed blue.
Plagg flashed blue as well, but didn’t seem harmed.
He stood, stretched, and trotted over to Adrien. At his feet, the cat simply stated, “I’m hungry.”
Adrien busted a gut, laughing too hard. “I knew if you ever learned how to talk, that’d be the first thing you’d say to me!!”
“I want cheese. Camembert. Microwave it for 5 seconds.”
“Well hot damn Mari, I knew you made him smart, but did you have to make him picky too?”
“I’ve always been picky. That why you’re the only one who can pet me. And now this girl too, because she has made my demands known.”
Marinette didn’t respond. She was too busy freaking out because Adrien had called her a new nickname.
“Did you just call me Mari?”
“Oh shoot, darlin’! I’m always giving you nicknames.”
She blushed. “Well, Mari just seemed...I don’t know. Special?”
“Cause you’re a special girl! Shucks, and that’s besides your magical-ness!”
“Stop! You’re making me blush!”
“Well, I happen to think you’re mighty purdy when you blush. That’s all.”
Her face was crimson as she cupped her cheeks.
He snickered after her, his own cheeks coloring slightly. “Are you going to be good to fly? Or do you want me to take the reins?”
She elbowed him gently. “If you stop teasing me, I’ll be perfectly fine to fly.”
“Shore thing, ma’am.”
She sat down daintily, the broom moving to the perfect height automatically. “Your turn.”
“Hold on.” He grabbed his hat, and slipped on his boots. “Just in case we run out of juice.”
“Fair.” She grinned. “We won’t, but what’s a Cowboy without his hat and boots?”
He put a finger in her face and spoke sternly. “Not worth a hill of beans. You remember that.”
“Alright.” She blinked.
“Okie dokie, how do you want me to do this?”
“Can you try riding sideways like me? But have your legs over the other side to counterbalance.”
He dropped onto the broom, sliding around until he got his balance. But the handle was kind of short for two people, so he had to sidle right up to her. “This is kinda—here, is this alright?” He reached an arm around her and rested his hand in the front to brace himself up.
She blushed again. “Do you feel safe?”
“Don’t know how I couldn’t with you around, My Lady.”
She beamed at him.
“You know we Cowboy’s have a phrase—“
“You have a lot of phrases.”
“A-HEM. We have a phrase that goes, ‘Jumping the broom’.”
“What does it mean?”
“It’s another way of saying gettin’ hitched. Married.”
She snorted.
“I can’t wait to tell everyone you and I jumped the broom over the weekend.”
“They’ll probably all look at you like you’re insane.”
“Well, it’ll be our own private joke.”
“Our first inside joke! This friendship is coming along beautifully.”
“I’d say it’s a huckleberry above a persimmon!”
“I don’t know what that means, but I agree with you.” She giggled.
“It means good, no sweatin’.”
“Good! You ready?”
“Shore thing!”
“Alright, here we go!”
The broom lifted into the air, and Adrien rocked slightly, but he regained his balance quick enough. Then it took off out the window, and lifted into the sky.
“YEEEEEEE-HAAAAAAWWWW!” Adrien cried as they cleared several buildings in seconds. “Marinette, this is funner than switching your enemies piñata with a bee hive!”
She guffawed, the broom dipping slightly. “Have you done that before!?”
“No, but I assume it’d be pretty fun!”
After they did a fast lap around Paris, weaving through the Eiffel Tower, and the Arc de Triomphe, they came to a coast, just enjoying the night.
“My oh my…I could do this everyday for the rest of my life and never get tired of it.”
“I feel the same.” Marinette admitted, gazing over the city lights. “When my grandfather taught me to fly when I was little, I told myself I’d get out as much as possible. And I do. Except when it rains. It’s just no fun then.“
“Your grandpappy? Was he a witch too?”
“A sorcerer.” She replied wistfully. “Master of all schools of magic. He’s the one that taught me what I know. I have his spell book too, I’ve been trying to learn from it.”
“He’s not around no more?”
“Not in Paris.” She said fondly. “He decided to get into a school of magic that my parents weren’t comfortable with, so he went back to China.”
“What school is that?”
“Necromancy.”
He tilted his head. “Which is?”
“It has to do with the dead. Raising the dead, communing with the dead, avoiding death, and other things that fall into the category, like possession and mind control.”
“That sounds like some spooky stuff. No offense to your pappy.”
“No, I think he’d agree. I think it intrigues him. That’s why he became a Lich.”
“Lich? Is that like...a love witch?”
“No,” she giggled. “It’s a magic user that rejects death. But they lose their humanity. He’s basically a living skeleton now.”
“That’s awful!”
“It would be. But I video chatted with him a few days ago. He’s the same person, just without skin. It’s kinda funny. My dad calls him Skeletor.”
“Are your parents witches too?”
“Nope! Just me! My mom knows a few healing spells, but that’s all she ever cared about. My dad doesn’t have a magical bone in his body.”
“Wow! So you’re going at it alone now, huh?”
“Well like I said, I have my grandfather’s spellbook. But yeah, I’m my own mentor. What about you? Anyone else in your family that’s a Cowboy?”
“Not really. My uncle, my mom’s brother, he owns a cattle farm out in the country, but I wouldn’t call him a Cowboy. He taught me how to ride a horse and how to shoot a gun though.”
“So did you grow up there? Or...?”
He shrugged, timid. “Naw, I grew up here in Paris, don’t really have a rhyme or reason why I am the way I am. Just comes naturally, I reckon. In my blood or somethin’. Don’t know fer shore.” He swung his legs, swaying the broom slightly. “My old man, he doesn’t like it much. Thinks I’m actin’.”
“Well, if you say you’re a Cowboy, you’re a Cowboy. Ain’t nothin’—er, there’s nothing wrong with that.”
He smiled at her, leaning in slightly. “Say My Lady, you know any love spells?”
“Why?”
“Hmm, just wonderin’.”
“Well, I haven’t memorized any, but I know there’s some in my book.”
“You know, I was thinkin’ ‘bout it...maybe it’s none my business. But, on the first day of school, Chloe said you were pretending to be a witch and even Niño—“
“Nino.”
“That’s what I said. Even he said you were just good at slight of hand. Why don’t they believe you?”
Marinette sighed, allowing the broom to coast over the Seine. They floated just above the water, which was still in the evening.
“I’ve gotten better as I’ve gotten older. But when I first learned a spell, I was so excited to show my classmates. It was really easy, just snap your fingers to get a little flame.” She snapped, demonstrating the spell.
Adrien’s eyes lit up with excitement.
“When I got to school, I gathered everyone together, and when I went to perform...I couldn’t. Too many eyes. Chloe ridiculed me. While everyone else has let it go, she likes to torment me about it all the time. I think I encourage her by perpetuating witch stereotypes. No matter how hard I try, I can’t perform magic around our classmates.”
“Oh golly gee, My heart breaks for you darlin. But it’s mighty brave of you to continue studying even though you were hurt so badly. Takes real guts, honest!”
“Thanks Adrien. I think you’re pretty brave too.”
“Why ya know, I bet I could help you out yer magical constipation!”
“How do you figure?”
“I’m thinking perhaps if we plan it right, and I’m there with you, you might get the confidence you need to wow them school kids! What sorts’a spells you know?”
She laughed. “Oh my gosh! I don’t know any good spells that would work! I know plenty of slight of hand tricks, minor hexes and illusions. But my show stoppers are all dangerous, like lightning bolts or fireballs.”
“Whyja learn stuff like that?”
“I thought it would be fun?” She said, nervously.
“Well, I’m sure we could come up with something. Don’t you worry, Darlin.”
“Well, thank you Adrien! I think that’s—“
She was interrupted, however, by a figure in black, rocketing across the ground. It moved faster than any vehicle should in the city.
“What in tarnation is that?!”
