I was fascinated by this dome home, b/c it looks like someone doesn't know what a dome is, and made a ball. It also has a belvedere, which is usually on a Victorian roof. But, the 1984 Montauk, NY home is surprisingly nice inside. It has 3bds, 2.5ba, and they're asking $2.1M, reduced by $490K.

The large entrance hall fits a baby grand piano with room to spare.

It's an interesting home and like a giant piece of art. Notice the planter on the right is set into a square hole in the floor.

Look at the ceiling. It reminds me of some sort of DaVinci contraption. And, look at the angled wall held up by a column. It's really a work of art. The belvedere looks like the bottom of a hot air balloon.

This is quite nice- speakers on the ceiling aimed at the sofa and two big windows.

The French stove is gorgeous and I would move the table and chair over to make it a focal point.

Surprisingly, the kitchen is huge. Look at the size of it. So many cabinets. The drawback is that it's so spread out, but the actual work triangle is contained in a nook.

Here's Bd. #1- look at the floor. That's a lovely nautical touch.

In Bd. #2 there's another inlaid pattern, but the bed is over it.

Nice shower room.

Bd. #3 seems to be the primary bedroom b/c it has direct access to the bath.

This is unique.

I'm not sure, but this might be the ladder to the belvedere. It folds and fits neatly into the wall like an attic ladder.

Here we are in the belvedere, a roomy observatory with benches and a table for entertaining or a cozy family space. But, wouldn't it make a great art studio?

I'm surprised that the home has a basement. Look at all the paintings, the owner must be an artist.

Outside there's a nice deck with a built-in bench.

The exterior needs some work- replacement shingles and landscaping.

The price is high, b/c this is Montauk, Long Island in NY (in the posh Hamptons). It's near the Montauk Lighthouse and that must be a community pool. It's on the shores of Lake Montauk, but it flows into the Atlantic Ocean.

Montauk is located at the tip of Long Island.

He still lingered around your house. Memories of you two slow dancing in the kitchen, sitting on countertops as he stands between your legs, dolloping whip cream on your nose as you laughed like it was the funniest thing on the planet. Honestly, to you, it was the funniest thing on the planet. You two lived in your own world; on your own planet. Everyone saw it that way, and for while, you did too.

You had been meaning to ship his belongings back to him: the red and black Devils sweatshirts piled on your dresser, the teddy bear he won you during your trip to Coney Island, the cologne he left on your desk in case you missed him while he was on a road trip. You couldn’t stay in your apartment anymore. Every time you came back to the beige walls of your small home, you were greeted with reminders of Jack. And it stung every single time.

Collecting his items from around your apartment, you stuffed them into a white cardboard box. You didn’t know what you would do with it. Maybe you could ding dong ditch Jack and just leave the items at his doorstep, or maybe you could burn it somewhere with your best friend, Courtney. Upon deciding your next step, a slip of paper slid underneath your door.

You stood there for a moment, watching the paper sit in its place, its words tucked to the underbelly of the pamphlet. Walking over, you cautiously kneeled down and turned the sheet over.

It felt stupid, right? Erasing the memory of Jack Hughes and your relationship with him from your entire memory? It felt extreme and dangerous—highly unlike you. But that was the thing that broke the camel’s back in the first place. You couldn’t be what Jack wanted you to be. You couldn’t be spontaneous and take risks and be dangerous. Maybe it was time to start? Because for the past two months, you felt this unbearable ache in your chest and you were tired of feeling it. You were tired of wondering if you were enough, or if you could ever be happy again.

This could fix that. It could fix everything. It could fix you. 

Which was why you found yourself in the driver's seat of your car, your collection of items that reminded you of Jack in the passenger seat beside you, and your GPS pulled up with the location of Lacuna, inc. in New York City.

You were going to become yourself again.

The waiting room was small: uncomfy chairs lining the perimeter of the room, a table in the center with research about lacunar amnesia and the safety of the practice, and ugly overhead lighting that made you feel like you were little again, waiting nervously at the doctor’s office.

A brown clipboard laid on your thighs with a waiver, asking you if you really wanted to do it. There was no going back. There was no regaining the memory of Jack Hughes after the procedure. Once it was gone, it was gone— for good. No more Jack. 

You could move on—the same way it looked like he already had.

“You have given extensive thought behind your decision and give “Lacuna, inc.” exclusive permission to remove this person completely from your mind: Yes or No”

With a shaky breath, you checkmarked: Yes.

A couple minutes later, your name was called by one of the nurses and you were carrying your box of Jack’s things into the procedure room. They took the box from your hands, laying it on a table with big machinery and lasers. This whole thing felt foreign to you, but you were ready.

Sitting down in a chair at the center of the room, they strapped patches to your temples as you sat with your hands intertwined in your lap. Your heartbeat raced on the monitor beside you as you closed your eyes, letting the memories take you for the last time. 

“Marry me,” Jack blurted as you laid in his arms on the sofa of his apartment. He could feel you tense up. He could feel your breath stutter and you rise from your position.

“What?” you asked, unsure if you had heard him correctly. You started dating Jack when you were 20. You had a year left of college, he was already playing in the NHL, and you had never met anyone quite like him. He was carefree and limitless. He believed that anything was possible; that logistics weren’t important. You were the one that kept him leveled; that yes, ideas and fantasy is important, but the actuality of it is important too.

“Marry me,” he repeated. He said it so simply, as if it held the same weight as asking if you wanted to go out for ice cream later, or if you wanted to stay in or go out for dinner tonight.

You furrowed your brows, your mouth running dry. “We’re 22, Jack.”

He scoffed, mirroring your body language as he rose from his position on the couch. “So?” he shrugged. He took your hands in his as you failed to meet his green eyes. “I want to be with you, Y/N. I know that more than anything. You can move in with me, we could get engaged now and married next year, my grandmother would love you, and—”

“Jack—”

“My brothers already consider you a part of the family—”

“Jack—”

“Why don’t we just make it official, you know? You could be family and—”

“Jack stop,” you scolded, removing your hands from his as he stared at you with a look you’ve never seen before. He’s never been the level-headed type. He’d always been one to fantasize, but this felt extreme. You two were still young, you were still trying to find a stable job and make a name for yourself. You couldn’t get married now. “Listen to yourself. I don’t even have a stable job.”

“You don’t need one!” he exclaimed. “I can work, I can make enough for the both of us, you don’t need to worry about money.”

You stood up from the couch, fuming. How could he just dismiss everything you’ve ever worked for like that? “But I want to work.”

“So work,” he shrugged. “Find a job, I don’t know! All I know is that I want to get married to you. Don’t you want that with me?”

You paced around the living room, trying to wrap your head around everything. “Yes, of course I want that with you, Jack. I just,” you took a deep breath. “I don’t want that right now.”

You watched him recoil. He wanted it now, you could see it in the way he goes silent, and the way he looks as if he wants to be nowhere near you right now. “When do you want it then?”

It wasn’t like you had a set date in mind, but it sounded like all he could hear from you was that you didn’t want to get married. He didn’t want to listen to you. Whenever anything deviated from what he wanted, he shut down. That was just who he was, always has been. 

You crossed your arms, holding yourself as if that was the only thing that felt familiar to you in that moment. “I don’t know, like when we’re 24/25?”

“Two more years?” he questioned incredulously. If he knew he wanted to be with you for the rest of his life, why couldn’t he just wait?

“Jack, your fans don’t even know we’re dating!” you shouted. “How are they going to feel when they find out you’re fucking married? Would you even tell them or would you just keep me a secret for the rest of our lives?”

“You know I wouldn’t do that to you.”

“I’m just not ready, and you know you aren’t either.”

He laughed, but it felt poisonous, like venom was dripping from his tongue. It didn’t feel like his infectious laughs that you wanted to replay in your mind for the rest of your life. It felt like a memory you needed to erase. “What are you saying, Y/N? This isn’t just a random thought, I’ve been thinking about this for a while now. And I guess, I just thought that you were thinking about it too.”

“I have been! Just. Not. Now, Jack. Why can’t you just listen to me? It’s not just you involved in this! This is both of our lives that this is affecting!”

“Well, I didn’t think it would be such a negative in your life.”

You couldn’t believe what he was saying. He was acting as if the two years you had spent together was nothing to you. “I never said that and you know that.”

“Yeah? Well, it sure feels like it.”

“You’re unbelievable, you know that?”

It was like you hit a nerve. Like you touched something that you never knew was beneath him. “Then why are you even with me? If I’m so unbelievable.”

“You can’t be serious, Jack,” you shook your head, rounding the corner of the room and towards your shoes that were laid at the entrance of the apartment. You pointed at him as he followed you. “You’re acting like a child. Grow up!”

“Me? You’re the one that’s scared of committing!”

“I’m not scared of committing to you, Jack. I’m scared of not being me anymore. You need to know the difference!”

“Then tell me the fucking difference, because right now, it just feels like we’re breaking up.”

Your head shook, your fingers didn’t feel like your fingers anymore, and in real life, in that office chair, your eyes scrunched and your breathing quickened. You couldn’t relive this. Somehow, it hurt more the second time.

“I don’t even know who I am yet!” you threw your hands in the air. “And you just expect me to be Mrs. Hughes? To be a part of your family? To make me… yours?”

“Come on, Y/N. You’re being dramatic. You’re acting like I’m taking you, or something.”

“I’m not dramatic, you’re just not listening to me!”

“I’m trying, okay? I’m trying to listen to you, but you’re making this so fucking difficult. You make everything fucking difficult. You’re just too much sometimes.”

You didn’t even know you were crying by then, but you were. You were sniffling as you walked around the apartment, grabbing your jacket from the couch, your purse from the dining table, and your shoes from the entryway. You could hear him pestering you with questions: Where are you going? We’re not done with this. Are we breaking up? If you leave, we’re done.

But you’ve spent your life being a people pleaser. You’ve abandoned yourself time and time again to make ends meet. You’ve skipped so many important events to go to his games, and to meet him in California just because he asked you to, and at the most important times of your career, times when you asked him to just stop by for a second so you could have one familiar, comforting face, he had a game, or he had to go out with the guys for “team-bonding”, or something else of higher matter just took priority. All you asked for was effort from both sides. 

So to hear that you prioritizing yourself for the first time was dramatic? You couldn’t hear him anymore. All you wanted was to get the hell out of there—even if it meant breaking up.

Courtney pulled up outside as you rushed into her car, your chest heaving and tears spilling out of your eyes. She didn’t ask what happened, she could tell from your texts that it was something bad, something unrecoverable.

But, as if saying it out loud would help you comprehend it for yourself, you said the undeniable.

“I think we just broke up.”

New York has two Grand Army Plazas—the one at Fifth Ave. and 59th St. in Manhattan, and one at the entrance to Prospect Park in Brooklyn. On May 30, 1936, more than 50,000 people, including tens of thousands of children, marched to the cheers of a half million others to mark Decoration Day (as Memorial Day was then called) as well as Brooklyn’s 300th anniversary.

thank you for answering all my asks and translating all the stupid from antis. the oldish new one i keep seeing is how emma eventually said yes because "hook wore her down" (*eye roll)*, he moved on from one obsession to the other (revenge to emma), he was purchasing her with the ship trade (seriously?), he tried to kill her twice (who cares THEY WERE ENEMIES) and how it's unrealistic how he fell in love with her so quick, oh and that he never did anything good unless it was for emma.

The fact that the people who say this ship SwanQueen, SwanFire or Rumbelle makes me roll my eyes even more because NONE of those shippers have a right to speak on CaptainSwan, especially with their fanon nonsense, when their ships are canon toxic as abuse.

CLAIM: Hook wore Emma down

This is an old one and I’ve touched on it before but it’s so easy to debunk. How? How did he “wear her down”? The answer is always “he didn’t take “no” for an answer”. To which I ask, “when did Emma say the word “no” to him? She never tells Hook “no” but she does stand up Neal after Hook backs off to give them a chance. It’s canon fact that Emma encourages Hook to think of her and then when they return after the curse it is canon fact that she calls him for things including watching Henry. So it was Emma keeping that connection between them. It was also Emma that kissed him first, asked him out first and asked him to move in. They want to make Emma out to be a badass but in the next breath treat her like she has no mind of her own.

If Hook was obsessed with Emma in an unhealthy way then he wouldn’t have encouraged her to let him die in Camelot nor encouraged her to leave the UnderWorld. If he was obsessed with Emma then he’d have begged her to make him the dark one, do whatever she had to do including stay in the UnderWorld with him. But he was not obsessed with Emma in an unhealthy way. He was in love with her, though. The same way David is in love with Snow. Are David and Snow obsessed with each other? Why do I never hear complaints about that? I mean Snow didn’t want to leave the island without David.

Hook purchased Emma by trading his ship

I THINK this is an old one but worded in a way I’ve never seen before! They threw in the word “purchased” to make it sound sinister which just shows you how much CaptainSwan haters have to reach!

So apparently Killian trading his ship to get to Emma so she can save her family and friends is toxic because… drum roll… it’s a grand gesture and Killian did it for Emma! Of course this logic only applies to Killian. I mean Regina takes Belle’s heart and uses her like a puppet to supposedly save Emma from Rumple (but come now, it was to save Robin for her own self) and that’s just fine and dandy. Hypocrites.

Yes, Killian traded his ship for Emma. And that isn’t a bad thing! Copied from another one of my blog posts:

Remember when he said he would win her heart not because of any trickery but because she wanted him? He had several chances to do so but he waited. He didn’t use that gesture to sway her opinion of him. He let her find her way to him on her own. So if Hook was intending to use his grand gesture to win her… he’d have told her this the first time she asked which I think was in NY Serenade. The fact that he waits is so significant. He waits until she’s had time to realize that he is there for her. He is going to be the one person that is never going to walk away. That he will be there to dry her tears and offer encouragement. That is what she discovered during their journey back in time.

CLAIM: Hook tries to kill her- twice!

He did? When? Do they mean the sword fight? Oh yeah, he was really trying there, man. And by trying I mean barely trying. Like putting in minimum effort and even stopping to crack a few crass jokes. Hook wasn’t trying to kill Emma. Do they mean when he left her in the cell? Did he really think she would die there? That’s debatable. Oh I bet they mean in S2 when he sailed away with the bean. To which I answer them: you might want to check with your queen on that one. It was her kill switch after all and she only decided to help when she had no choice and Henry’s life was on the line meanwhile Hook turned around after having a true change of heart.

But what about SwanQueen? Regina tried to kill Emma as an infant. Regina then attempted like 3-4 more times over the course of two seasons to get rid of Emma. So what does that say about SwanQueen? Oh, let me guess, that’s OK because 1) it’s Regina and she’s a woman and they claim Regina really loved her and 2) because it was for Henry! Well, bull shit is what I have to say to that.

SwanFire shippers that say this have no right to criticize either. While Neal may not have ever been in a sword fight with Emma, he is guilty of worse since he is the reason Emma built her walls. Neal was someone Emma trusted and loved and he broke that trust, abandoned her and sent her to prison for his crimes.

OutlawQueen can shut the hell up to because the only reason they are together is because Regina killed Marian in the first timeline and is absolved of that murder thanks to the show ignoring that and focussing instead on blaming Zelena and Emma.

Rumbelle can also sit down because while Rumple never tried to kill Belle he’s kept her prisoner.

CLAIM: Hook fell in love with Emma too quick

Quickly, ask them to define “too quick”! Was Snow and Charming “too quick”? Because that happened pretty fast. Was Rumbelle “too quick” because I mean she was his prisoner and all of the sudden there’s an attempted and failed TLK! Was Snow forgiving Regina of EVERYTHING one episode after Regina admits she’s a psychopath that doesn’t regret ruining Snow’s life and murdering her father and separating her from her daughter because Regain got what she wanted “too quick”? Please tell me how long it should have taken????

I have always thought that Emma and Killian were attracted to each other from the start but Killian doesn’t even act on that attraction until S3. And neither of them realize how deep that attraction runs until their first kiss which rocks both of them. That kiss is when they realize there’s more between them. Now, Killian embraces that while Emma runs behind her walls … but there was definitely build up and them getting together officially doesn’t happen until s4.

CLAIM: Hook never did anything good unless it was for Emma

If this was even true… so? Regina didn’t do anything good until she realized that the only way to keep Henry and get her happy ending was to join team hero. But that’s fine, isn’t? Everything Regina does is self-serving but Killian doing things out of love for Emma is bad? Why?

I actually covered a lot of this on my 99 problems with this Killian hate fest and can be found under Red Flag Claim #8, 9 &10. but to sum it up: Love is a powerful motivator and shouldn’t be looked down upon. Yes, Killian did things for Emma but it wasn’t only for Emma. Emma was a leader who inspired Killian much like his brother did as a leader. When Hook helps Ursula, Liam, Belle, Meg, Ashley, the faeries, David and even Neal he is not doing any of that for Emma. He is doing that because he wants to be the man he was meant to be.

CLAIM: Hook only went to find Emma because of the memory potion therefore it was self-serving

Yeah sure cause trading his home and outrunning a curse was a walk in the park? He did it because her family needed her. I think this is pretty evident, not only because he says that when he shows up but because of everything he did for David in Neverland. He went against Pan, an enemy he admits to being the worse he’s ever faced. And he does this to spare Emma pain. He also wanted to make sure Neal was really alive before causing Emma unnecessary pain if it ended up being another trick. So no, I reject the idea that Killian’s only motivation there was himself. He did not want Emma to lose people she loved.

And I think it also had to do with freeing her from a life that was a lie. And yes, he hoped he would be someone she missed but that was not the only reason he did what he did. It was the right thing to do. He says that too.

But as you say, no one else was doing anything! And I think it’s pretty telling that Neal knew to send the potion to Killian because if anyone would find a way to help Emma it was him.

CLAIM: Emma got exasperated when Hook tried to turn her asking him to babysit into a sexual thing

The CaptainSwan haters clutch their pearls every time Hook flirts or even looks at Emma but their fave does much worse and they swoon! Like how they try to make the line from Regina “taste my forbidden fruit” into something sexual and Regina is trying to kill Emma there. Like save your fake outrage people because I know it’s only due to Hook being with Emma and not your favorite. And if its from a Neal fan well give me a break there too because that jerk thought he was entitled to a second chance with Emma.

And as you say, Hook gets serious fast and then gives her the most encouraging heartfelt speech. Besides, Emma is just hiding behind her walls. If she really didn’t want to see Hook she wouldn’t be calling on him.

Well, only the 1st fl. of this grand 1855 Italianate Victorian mansion in Staten Island, NY was renovated. I don't really like what they did- they left only some original stuff and the rest of the 9bd, 2ba home is up to the new owner to finish. Now, they want to sell it for $1.85M. There's a lot of restoration work to do. Take a look, it's fascinating.

Firstly, they didn't do the exterior. So, the whole home has to be painted.

They made this room modern, open, and light. They've got a huge open space here w/2 different fireplaces, so this may have been 2 rooms.

This home has lots of murals. I don't know how they restored this one. The railings are intact.

Gally style kitchens were kind of standard for mansions, b/c the staff did the cooking. It appears that they just painted the existing cabinetry white, along w/the walls and ceiling.

They did this room, sanded the original wood floors, left the fireplace, but the bed is up against the pocket doors. I guess they use it as a bedroom b/c the upper floors aren't done.

Sun porch with plastic on the windows. Guess they need to be sealed.

Another bedroom. This a mansion, I'm sure that these aren't bedrooms on the main floor.

Kitchenette.

And, now we're in the unfinished part. See the murals? They have to be restored. if someone paints over them, I'll scream. The original floors need to be sanded.

Looks like they took the ceiling down for wiring.

It will be stunning when it's done, if the right buyer comes along.

Looks like they started some work on the upper floors, but ran out patience and money.

This home will be glamorous. Look at the little balcony cut into the ceiling.

This looks like the uppermost floor. Every room in this home is light and bright.

I wonder if they would leave some of these things like the big steamer trunk.

The attic is cool. But, there are only 2 baths and 9 bds, so 1 of the baths is up in the attic? I would have to find a way to make more baths.

Looks like they put in some plumbing. Why is it so big and exposed?

Oh, those stairs go up to the belvedere. Sooo beautiful. I wish this house was mine. It deserves to be beautiful.

This looks like a rear entrance on the main fl. that's been done.

Check out the huge workshop in the basement, and it has a fireplace.

It's so cool down here. Look at the old stove. OMG, it's got all new heat, etc., but look at the ancient furnace - it's still there.
