I’m rereading Hogfather and unreasonably glad to find that the long s on this Hogswatch card is actually a long s. It seems as though most publishers just use an “f” instead of “ſ”*, which I find really quite vexing (because I’m weird, I guess), and some audiobook narrators seem to be unaware that a printing error occurred and simply read it as an “f”, which is even worse. Hurrah for not using “f” in the place of a long s!

*I realize that this font is perhaps less than ideal for the purpose of demonstrating the difference between “f” and “ſ”, but trust me, there’s a difference.

Been about 1,5 years since I got my tattoo of the Grim Squeaker. And I love it! It still looks amazing.

My asshole cat just headbutted my tablet so hard she refreshed my Tumblr feed so deep into a scroll that I don't have the patience to find my place again.

And then the little monster didn't even lay down with me, she just fucked off to menace someone else.

Now, we all know the Grim Squeaker (aka The Death of Rats) doesn't just deal with the souls of rats, but other rodents too (IIRC in Hogfather mice and hamsters are both mentioned as being part of his remit) but where does the line get drawn?

Does he deal with all rodents, or just those biologically close to rats? What about chinchillas, mink and capybaras (or the Discworld equivalent)? They're technically rodents too. Do they get met by the Death of Rats? Or just on the odd occasion? Say when Death takes a holiday.

Grim Squeaker

A heavily Discworld inspired commision made for my good buddy, Grimrat!

I'm still rather chuffed with this one despite it being a year or so old now, and its interesting for how the lineart was pencil and ink scanned in, and the paint was digital.

Unfortunately I had to bury Bilbo (the mouse) today. He started showing signs of being sick yesterday morning and although we had a vet visit the same afternoon he passed away during the night :(

I think that Death would like this. I also fully believe that he'd be a fan of Henriëtte Ronner-Knip. I could see him realizing that humans use pictures to decorate, and then way overdoing it on Henriëtte Ronner-Knip paintings while Albert and The Death of Rats watch helplessly.

I am so excited.. getting a tattoo on Sunday.

The picture on the left is The Grim Squeaker (Discworld yay!) which is the character I want. The picture on the right is an example of the tattoo artists style (it's one of his works, he's called zazhax on Insta if you wanna see more). I think that style of tattoo is peeeeerfect for The Grim Squeaker! Gonna have it on my lower leg. First tattoo hehe. As a warm up for the backpiece I have planned.
