Hello! I have a question. Where can I get info about the characters' birthdays? I noticed that there was Marcille's birthday not too long ago, then Mithrun's birthday was a week ago, then today is Chilchuck's (happy birthday to him!), so I was wondering if the birthdays of the characters are written down somewhere, because I can't find them in the Adventurer's Bible (the one that has English release).

He is one of my absolute faves from the manga, can‘t believe it took me so long to draw him :‘)

Happy birthday to Kabru, dear worrier supreme and chess mastermind.....

People have already written incredible posts about the whole "loves humans so much and is so good at killing them" situation, but god it's just such a great conflict of interests and skills to exist in a character.

And to see the way he interacts with his party as individuals (changing how close he gets, etc.) is so telling. Sometimes I feel like fans read his attention to others as purely manipulative, but that's completely missing that he's a social person who finds humans and their motivations to be fascinating. Like, if you read it the way I do...... He's autistic about other people! He pays attention because he cares, but also because (I feel) he's gamifying relationships, and that's not bad. He studies and reasons to find the Optimal Response for the Most Friendship Points, and he's good at it, and that's part of why he ends up with a lot of people liking him but few actual close friends. And then he meets Mithrun and suddenly his responses are much less important--Mithrun has little desire to pay attention to Kabru's expressions or body language--Mithrun doesn't react to fawning or flattery or platitudes--Mithrun doesn't get offended if Kabru shows his irritation at being used as a projectile (lol). Etc. Etc.

Suddenly Kabru can be honest--can, specifically, express frustration that isn't often socially appropriate--and that messes with his modus operandi so hard he ends up being honest more often after that (ex: with Laios and that whole blowup). We get to see the protective anger he has in action, but we also get to see how it's, under everything, a cold desperation to avoid another Utaya among people who either 1) don't care about the danger or 2) don't understand the danger.

Like, suuuure, he wants something out of being nice to Laios' and Toshiro's parties. I'm sure he has some utilitarian reasons for being nice to his own party (cohesion, etc.)--like most would. But in the end, all of it is coming from that cold Utaya-born desperation and the helplessness of being fed cake in Milsiril's soft bed. Beyond the need for socializing in humans and the simple fact that Kabru enjoys it, it's a coping mechanism, yeah? Social interactions, for Kabru, are action--they're information gathering, they're rapport building. They're one step closer to control and safety.
