House of Pain's Self-Titled Debut Album Anniversary

In 1992, they released their debut album House of Pain, subtitled Fine Malt Lyrics. Their first single "Jump Around" was a major hit. In the United States, it peaked at number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, while reaching number 5 on the Hot Rap Songs, 13 on Rhythmic Top 40, 1 on Hot Dance Music/Maxi-Singles Sales, number 17 on the Billboard Dance Club Songs, and is certified platinum. The song was produced by Lawrence Muggerud (DJ Muggs) and performed by Schrody. Their second single "Shamrocks and Shenanigans (Boom Shalock Lock Boom)", it peaked at 65 on the Billboard Hot 100, 75 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, 14 on the Dance Club Songs, and 74 on Radio Songs. The album peaked at 14 on the Billboard 200, 14 on the U.S. Billboard Top Current Albums, 16 on the U.S. Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, 14 on the U.S. Billboard Top Album Sales, and is certified platinum. NOTE: True story, I'll never forget running into a pair of these out in the wild many years ago at a Downtown L.A. urban wear/style/fashion boutique, but, alas, they weren't in my size. DAMN!! Talk about the best AND worst luck ever!

PIC(S) INFO: Mega-spotlight on the super-hip and awesome HOUSE OF PAIN-edition Adidas Campus 80s, released exclusively on Saint Paddy's Day in 2009.

OVERVIEW: "The Campus 80’s were released in the early 1970’s, however its roots were founded in 1980’s hip-hop and popularised by the BEASTIE BOYS in the 1990’s. The Campus 80’s are a tangible time capsule representing the rap and the B-Boy culture of that era.

These Campus 80’s are named after the American hip-hop group HOUSE OF PAIN and were released March 17th 2009. The Green, White and Orange colour way is inspired by the band’s Irish heritage and also coincides with St Patricks Day. The group’s iconic white outlined crest is embroidered on the tongue and centred is a Three-Leaf Clover. "Fine Malt Lyrics" another name for their debut album ‘is stitched in gold thread across the upper side and can also be found at the bottom of the crest in green stitching. The deep vintage green suede upper and white sole completes this classic look.

The alternating Green insole on the left foot, and Orange on the right is consistent with the Irish flag colours. Adidas brought the shoe to life for hardcore HOUSE OF PAIN fans but can also be enjoyed by those who would purchase these Gazelles for the love of colours and design. Saturday, March 18th we photographed House of Pain and Slaine at The Paramount in Huntington, NY.

The show was part of House of Pain’s 25th anniversary and plenty of Long Islanders showed up to celebrate. Rapper Slaine got the night started before Everlast, Danny Boy and DJ Lethal took the stage.

House of Pain - Fine Malt Lyrics LP Well, well, well. It appears we have another solid representation of Everlast on the shelves this week. Don't get me wrong, as much as I enjoyed Jump Around in the 90's and equally felt MTV drilled it into us until we wanted to puke, that track is only the introduction to this album. This record is packed with hard hits like a bong convention in Colorado. Anyone turning the volume right on this one is ready to jam. Between having Tommy Chong samples and B-Real as a guest on the record, the vibe really fits into that Cypress Hill good time tone in a way that feels like it's been stamped with approval and sneaky and overstepping. After all, DJ Muggs helped produce it! Really glad to see it on the shelves, even if it doesn't stay in print forever.
