💭My thoughts as of now to Harry Potter Games I played💭

💛Hogwarts Mystery: I'm not even a fan of HP but played the game cuz im curious of the house im in. Just a game to spend during pandemic and yet i didnt expect what impact it did to me. I didnt believe it makes me care for people who doesnt exist. Even though they sometimes written badly in time, the characters there has a special place in my heart that i ended up wanting to make a comic with them on it ( and still scared sht to proceed year 6)

❤Hogwarts Legacy: I havent finished the game but every time i start to play, It warms my heart and brings peace in me. The music, the illustrations, the cratures, the characters backstories, the adventure, so many that makes me adore the wizarding world and wanting to live in it.(ill prob die tho) its such a pleasing game. If you ask me if my crush in game is Sebastian or Ominis,i... ended up choosing the main character (i spend more of my time with him and notice him being badass sheesh)

💚Magic Awakened: this bish makes me broke than i already am lmfao. Its like a modeling game. I want them stories but its fast paced and short, and updates are slow. I swear i could do much better activity than wasting my time AND MONEY on this game. (And yet here i am still playing dammit)

HPHM is taking over my dreams now-

I went to sleep right after I did a bit of the newest chapter and I saw a weird dream regarding it.

SO, around the part where Snape gives us the Doxycide, my MC, Jane and her boyfriend Talbott are helping him make the calming draughts and at some point he gives her a peck and Snape goes all grumpy and telling em to focus, basically being Snape.

Then late at night at the dark forest, the whole gang were helping the professors to give a proper burial for the creatures Moldy drunk during Harry's first year. Notice how I say creatures and not unicorns, apparently this Moldy was ultra hungry-

Talbott was comforting my MC who was upset cause she's a huge animal lover and well smt is killing creatures for their blood and sb just died-

I also saw some guy tryna ask out another guy who was supposed to be Penny's love interest (maybe someone else's MC) and when he kept doing that despite the other MC declining, Penny literally used wandless magic to cast Imperio on him and sent him away. I got shook she looked kinda evil but the guy had it coming.

I know that dreams are supposedly giving hidden meanings but honestly the only thing I'm getting from all this is that I want more story tasks lmao

The thing is, Ben will never be a dating option, he was never going to.

Outside of Tumblr, outside of a small bubble of shippers, the fandom doesn't like Ben, they never did.

The fandom also doesn't like Ismelda, the increase of her presence in semi-recent content is odd and, in my opinion, thanks to some writer in JC taking a liking to her and exploring her arc.

They both feel like loose threads in MC's story - bc as much as it sounds silly, it is MC's story - as of late with the inclusion of our dank cursed father and the "conclusion" of avenging Rowan's death and "finishing" the vaults. This is a way ---albeit a bad one--- of trying to sorta tie their arcs without putting any effort into solving their personal struggles --- Ben has unresolved PTSD and anger issues, Ismelda is prideful and a bully, and that's just the start of it for both.

If through struggles in their relationship we see them recognizing and working their way through those issues, then the pairing will be a good thing. But, let's be honest, at this point in the story is not happening, so this is just a shortcut into avoiding solving what's at fault with them as characters (and in their writing) then it's just cheap.

In on its own, shipping them isn't bad nor is it disliking it, it's all those variables that make it sour.

Actually, on the heels of that HPHM finale rant, I've gotta also rant about the romance sidequest this month because wow. Wow that was so bad. We got hit with a double-whammy of bad and I'd even read the datamines beforehand and still cringed

So, okay, minor issues first:

Why is Madam Rosmerta offering us a romantic date night as a reward for delivering the package in the first place? How do you know we even have someone to take to a date or want to go on a date? If we're renting out the entire upstairs area, why not have it be for a party with several friends? Huh???

Professor McGonagall reluctantly tells us about her husband but states that it's private and she doesn't normally tell students, MC then immediately tells all their friends like a huge fucking asshole. Stop that. Rude.

They're never called out for that, by the way

Here we have a romance quest where our romantic interest is in three scenes, and one of those is an ensemble scene. Woooooooow. How romantic. Yes, yes, romance has nothing to do with bonding with the individual in question, it's all about comparing your romance to other people's

And even beyond all that, you want to tell me that the final leg of the story is about how MC's date stood them up to find the Elixir of Life??? The only way they'd find the connection between Flamel and the Elixir would be if they were looking at alchemy books if we take Sorcerer's/Philosopher's Stone into account, and I have no idea why they'd do that if they were looking for love stories. And also, what??? That doesn't even make any sense for the majority of the dates

Barnaby and Penny I can kind of understand. Barnaby is the type to be in the moment, forget about his date plans, and go on a mad dash to find the Elixir without truly realizing how rare it is. Penny notoriously makes terrible decisions under duress (see: the entire Beatrice situation in Y5) and as a top Potions student might know a bit about the Elixir. Both are the type of people to be overly-romantic and get stressed at the idea of losing their lover one day. I buy this plot with these two

But everyone else?

Talbott and Chiara might find the idea of eternal love with their partner appealing due to the people they've lost in the past and their individual traumas, however, both of their friendship quests follow the basic plotline of them trying to do something totally on their own and pushing everyone away, failing, and then only succeeding when they get help from MC. Even if they did want to find the Elixir, I can't see either of them being impulsive enough to miss the date to do it. They'd go to the date and talk it over with MC first because that's the relationship they've built with us (this is also why their friendship quests should be mandatory to date them and/or just worked into the main plot at this point)

Andre and Badeea are both artsy people, and part of art is changing. Neither of them are the type to think to themselves "oh, I want to preserve the love I have right now for all time," they'd probably both be more like Celestina, open to what comes. Not to say that either of them are disloyal or couldn't find one person to love, but that they're more flexible in their love and open to the changes that aging and endings would bring. At least, that's the vibe that I get from both of them

And then Jae and Merula. I mean, I don't believe for a second that Merula actually gives a damn about anyone but herself, but if we're looking at specifically romance sidequest Merula, then even then I really don't see her doing something like this for any reason other than to prove herself better than other people in a "see, I have the Elixir of Life because I'm the best!" type of deal. Like, even if she got called out for it, I don't think she'd actually be apologetic the way that the date is in the sidequest. I think she'd be ranting about how McGonagall stopped her from developing "the most powerful love at Hogwarts" or something. And Jae... I don't know, finding the Elixir just seems like too much work for him? Jae's too practical. I feel like Jae would be the type to be like "okay, but if we do live forever, where are our retirement funds going to come from?" He certainly wouldn't be going to Mundungus of all people for an Elixir. Jae feels the most out-of-character with this

It's just such a stupid, out of nowhere plot point that derails the whole sidequest and doesn't even make sense in-character for most of the dates and it's just really awful. Someone actually approved this, and that's the craziest part to me

Funny enough, the way that I spaced the characters out is actually the same way that I think of them in the dating mechanic. And I mean that in that I feel like they're counterparts to each other, being one male option and one female option for different character archetypes, which has kind of been my theory for why they were picked for dating options in the first place

Barnaby and Penny are the conventionally attractive, popular ones who are more emotionally open. The types to gush about their lover, talk about how in love they are, put their all into the relationship. They're both also very friendly people, but might be easy to push around in relationships due to their people-pleasing natures that would come out tenfold with their lovers

Talbott and Chiara are the quiet, brooding types with troubled pasts whose friendship and loyalty are hard-won, yet completely unbreakable once you do. They're comfortable being independent, and as lovers they're thoughtful and prefer their relationships to be in private. The types to like simple quality time with their partners above all else and would do what they can to make things work for both of you, rather than completely sacrificing their own comfort like Barnaby and Penny, though they may be inclined to make some sacrifices for fear of losing their partner

Andre and Badeea are both more whimsical, artistic types. They're creatives constantly thinking of the beauty of the world, probably the types to hand-make gifts for their lovers. Open to experimenting, but secure in their own selves to refuse what they don't like, not that they won't be making suggestions, too. They'd be the types to find a balance with their partners, like Talbott and Chiara, but are less rigid in what they're willing to try in love. They're open with their feelings, both to their lover and the people around them

Jae and Merula are the troublemakers. The ones looking for a partner in crime, but who would be willing to make that role worth your while. Willing to mess with you and be playful in the relationship, and who might be a bit more demanding because they won't compromise themselves for your sake. Admittedly, these two don't match up that well, but I think that's more Merula's fault than anything because that girl should NOT be a love interest at all. Replace her with Tulip, though, who WOULD make a great date option, and this works out a lot better. Merula is selfish and I genuinely can't see her thinking about a relationship as anything more than propping her own ego up, but Jae and Tulip are both the types to break or bend the rules a bit to see their lover happy and deal with the consequences, and are equally as likely to take their lover on a surprise date as they are to get their lover embroiled in some less-than-scrupulous plot

First off, happy (very) belated birthday! I hope you're resting up and you're getting better :)

Then, I just wanted to ask if you're caught up on the latest HPHM chapter... I don't like where they're going with this, and it feels really cheap. The only way they could save this is, in my opinion, by showing how the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, but I really don't think that's gonna happen. What are your thoughts about it?

Well, first of all, thank you so much! 💖 I really appreciate it! I hope you're doing well, too!

As for HPHM, I’m actually not caught up. I still haven’t started Chapter 9, and to be completely honest, I don’t feel the need to catch up. I don’t want to say I’m quitting the game and I’m actually still opening the app pretty much every day just to collect my energy, but at the same, it’s just... eh. The whole “Beyond Hogwarts” often feels like the battle with R from the end of Y7: the characters seem to believe that whatever they’re doing makes sense, but it really doesn’t. Also, there’s basically nothing left in the game anymore from the things that made me love it all those years ago.

On top of all of that, I’m just not having the best time of my life – as you know. It’s nothing bad in particular, really, it’s just… life, I guess. And the main thing is that I just have a hard time finding motivation, so the quality of HPHM dropping down so much doesn’t help.

(Also, I just want to mention in this place: dear Anon who sent me the ask about Flump, if you see it, I swear I’m not ignoring you. I just have a lot to say about this character, and as I mentioned, I have no willpower to write my thoughts down. It’s gonna be a long rant, though. In short: I fucking hate Flump.)

Now, as for the events from the recent chapter you’re referring to… I assume it’s about Jacob and Olivia? Please, correct me if it’s something else because I didn’t check the whole chapter, but if that’s what we’re talking about: I absolutely hate everything about it. EVERYTHING. It actually might be a deal breaker for me. Like, I still don’t want to say “I quit”, but after I learnt about it, my motivation to come back dropped from low to barely existing. I’m still super bitter about that “too dry chicken”, and it’s beyond me how anyone could think it’s a good way to introduce this plot to the story. You know how it could’ve gone? Olivia could’ve said something like: “I was thinking the whole day about messing up the chicken yesterday, EVEN THOUGH JACOB SAID IT WAS FINE”. But no, the writers for once decided to be consistent about something and portrayed Fugly Slut as an absolute jerk.

I think that the only way to save this is to kill Fugly Slut. Olivia deserves so much better. And of course we’re simply ignoring Olivia’s past feelings for Duncan.

Unpopular Opinion: A Selfish MC

Honestly, mainly my mutuals read my posts and I appreciate the likes and occasional reblog so here’s another unpopular opinion.

There’s a lot I can say here. So here it is:

MC should be more selfish.

Because really think about it here.

They came into this school with almost everyone expecting the worse of them because of their brother.

They’ve been targeted by a girl who looked like she felt threatened by us when they came here trying to mind our business.

Been breaking curses from the age of 12, even though the adults were telling us not to (and what have they been doing to stop these curses?).

They found the opportunity to find missing their brother and made it our goal to find him. FOR YEARS.

In the midst of this quest, we were still trying to enjoy the life of a student. Make friends, play Gobstones, go out for a Butterbeer, maybe date someone, learn magic...

They deal with their friend’s issues. Not saying this is completely bad. But again think about it: MC helps other people deal with their issues, but who really asks them about how they feel about EVERYTHING they’re going through. I’ll wait.

While I can’t really recall from the previous years, the one person who did was Bill before he graduated from Hogwarts in our fifth year. When MC was trying to cheer him up about graduating.

When he asked them about how they’re feeling, MC quickly deflected the issue.

Mind you, I can relate to this in real life. My feelings, thoughts and emotions would be on the back burner while I help others. And if our MC was able to truly project EMOTION, if s/he was force to confront how they really feel, it might be extreme. So they deflect the issue.

Especially after what happened in 5th year. Even AFTER what happened in the vault, our MC is still worrying about others and they are just rejecting us to our face as if we’re not already hurt.

Again think about it:

We’re rejected by Merula after all that’s happened, so for those who thought we’ll finally be friends with her, JC said “Sike, you thought.” Then goes on to say that she doesn’t need us.

“I told you I don’t need you, L/N...”

“And I still don’t.”

Ben, whose on a manhunt for Sickleworth, makes a comment implying that we’re obsessed with finding our brother.

MC: Why does my brother-- I mean the Niffler--keep disappearing on us?

Ben: And you think I’m the one obsessed, Y/N?

I’m not gonna lie, I was hot for a good second. For crying out loud, he LEFT us. All of them saw him leave.

Depending on what year your MC was born, they would’ve been 8 or 9 when he disappeared. By the time you find him, they would be 15 or 16. THAT’S SEVEN WHOLE YEARS! 

SEVEN YEARS THAT THEY WILL NEVER GET BACK. ALMOST 5 OF WHICH THEY SPENT TRYING TO FIND HIM! All of that for him to LEAVE???

When the whole reason why they dealt with the Curse Vaults was to find him!

Bro, in my eyes, MC is justified to feel this way. I don’t see it as an obsession, I see it was genuine hurt.

They were legit abandoned just after a short reunion. With no way to contact him until later in 6th year.

Depending on if you have a headcanon for your character in the game. Like their family dynamic, personality, attitudes and such: this may hurt WAY WORSE.

For example, my MC lost her dad just weeks after her brother disappeared. She has no real relationship with her mother, who favors her brother over her. Her and her brother were close when he was around. After her father died, she promised over his grave that she’ll find out what happened to him and hopefully bring him home. Then this shit happens.

She would’ve been heartbroken. To hear Ben say that would’ve pissed her off for a few seconds before trying to cool down.

Then 6th year rolls around and our MC is dealing with everyone’s BS and not their one.

Don’t get me started on Merula returning to her old ways and how Ben took on a new identity (personally, I don’t like new Ben. That’s the type of attitude that will cause you to misstep and get your ass seriously injured or killed), Penny and Beatrice’s sibling feud AND ANOTHER CURSE.

Again if I were to write my character how I want to, she would’ve cared way less. Even those with a ton of patience, lose it. 

I mean honestly how much shit does our character how to experience before they rightfully explode?

Like seriously. I’ve seen a scene where we have to duel our brother and then he leaves us (again). And Merula says this:

“You can’t seem to hold onto anyone anymore, can you, L/N?

GET. THE. FUCK. OUT OF HERE!

Yo, you can not tell me any different: That was fucked up to say. EXTREMELY FUCKED UP!

And she’s laughing as if this was joke. This is far from funny.

And yet our MC is still trying to reach out to her. WHY

Like at this point, let everyone do whatever they want. Let them fix their issues. Let them deal with their own problems how they choose to.

I much rather hang out with Rowan, Tonks, Barnaby, Andre (worse headache he could give me is my outfit choices), Charlie, Jae, Badeea (let me spend more time with this art queen, c’mon!), Liz, Diego (I’ll take his flirtations ANY DAY), Talbott (Let me spend more time with my husband), Chiara (my Healer sister for life) Fred, George and Cedric (Let me spend time with the cinnamon roll!).

Like every other unproblematic character in the game currently. I’ll even take Professor Snape and his sarcasm (that I grew to love).

My headcanon is that Judith would hide out in the Dark Forest in the Creature Forest or go to the Centaur Camp to get away from the unnecessary stressors at Hogwarts.

I don’t care if it looks like MC is “abandoning Hogwarts” when a curse is out on the loose.

MC didn’t really ask to be a Curse Breaker (if you decided that’s not a career they would take).

MC didn’t ask to be the protector of Hogwarts since they were 12 years old.

They aren’t getting any real thanks for anything that they do.

They can’t be a normal student. Even if they wanted to, everyone would probably be like “Why would you want to give up what you’re doing?”

I honestly wish we could be more selfish. I will never forget the outburst Rowan had in 5th year when they said we only call them or hang out with them when MC needs something.

THEY WEREN’T WRONG! We don’t hang out with our friends just to hang out. It’s always MC needs something or we’re helping a friend in the storyline. We don’t just chill to have fun like a normal student.

Which is bloody sad.

And MC has been told how they really haven’t been taking care of themselves.

For example, Hagrid in Year 4:

“If yeh say so, but I wish yeh’d take care of yerself as much as yeh take care o’ everyone else...”

Or even Dumbledore:

“I am concerned that you are neglecting your own well-being and needs.”

Like it’s literally right there, folks. Right. There.

Exposed. In only two lines.

I know Jam City will never let MC be selfish, even it was for a few chapters. But I wish they did.

This is why we create fandoms and our own headcanons.

Each passing day I feel less and less excited about playing hphm partly bc the story is not going anywhere I want, none of the new characters excited me (ever since Victor honestly), JC's decisions are fails after fails, BUT also bc of the game itself, the mechanics have begun to bore me and the game is so heavy on my shitty phone and getting heavier with every new update...

And what makes me angrier is that I still love those characters but I just can't drive myself to play the game.

Rowan’s death is basically “let’s shock people” for dummies 101

Missnight0wl can say that Ben is also Rowan’s friend…and she is not wrong(bc fuck me, it’s horrible when for some reason i’m always wrong but other people are always right…but this is a thing for when I’ll have my next meltdown, sorry)

But Ben is acting like a kamikaze since the last chapter of year 5…and get beaten constantly 

Then we have Rakepick’s Patronus and like 2 minutes after that an Avada…is she has two personalities? A good one and an evil one?

Okay, Snape can use a Patronus…but he also had the trauma of Lily’s death and changed faction…and Umbridge is not someone who would randomly kill people

So yeah this chapter is fucked up on so many levels. My main problem is Rowan dying for Ben…for Ben…this and the fact that the fandom is throwing shit on Penny for updating Rowan and she is blaming herself for doing that.

Ben recruiting Merula..it’s like asking for being abandoned…also you recruit your racist bully who treated you like trash? From the mind that thought that Cedric(A BLOODY FIRST YEAR STUDENT!) would be a good bodyguard!

I don’t know…i think there is something wrong in killing Rowan like that…like Rakepick’s monologue when she betrays MC&Co.(she basically talk about how MC is like her because MC wants the treasure while MC in 5 years never even mentioned the treasure because MC wants to save Jacob and break the curses, the end of MC’s plans related to the vaults) it’s plain stupid, no sense…like my weird headcanons are better written than this crap…

Also: Merula brags about how people are asking her how she is…like Rowan just died and people are focusing on Merula…barely on MC(and only MC’s closest friends btw and based on which house you’re in)

Let’s remember that Merula never really interacted with Rowan...i remember when she introduced herself...and that’s it(because Rowan was/is a pureblood and he/she was a quiet person and during lessons, Rowan is always there = merula never had any reason to bother him/her while she had MC right there next to Rowan) ...so it’s either some sort of passive-aggressive bullying on Merula(like bothering her to the point of making her snap) or trying to induce a feeling in her...i don’t know...i’m ranting now

Mini rant

Seriously, fuck the bingo event.

I have wasted more than 200 gems to boost and to have energies to finish the classes on time during the boosting time.

I managed to get a triple and got 2nd place, that's fine. But then, literally 10 minutes later, I check the bingo to see what I need (because my memory sucks) and I see that I'm down to 3rd place and the person now above me was like, in 6th place.

Don't tell these are not bots. They are.

I really wanted this hair, I promised myself I'd stay away from the bingo event because of how stressed it makes me. But I really wanted the fucking hair.

And I can't give up now since I have wasted basically all of my gems. But if I don't end up getting 1st places for the remaining 2 days I will give up completely on this event.

Okay, so my phone wouldn't install the new version of the game and I couldn't do the duelling event 😡 now that it finally did, it's too late. And I didn't get thw spell beacuse of a glitch 😡🤬

I really hope they give us another chance to learn those spells
