"Haechan" is THE perfect stage name and I need everyone to back me up on this.

Haechan's real name is Lee Donghyuck. It is also the name he used prior to his debut when he appeared in various events and content as a part of SM Rookies. When NCT 127 debuted, fans were confused as to why an unfamiliar "Haechan" was debuting whereas Lee Donghyuck was not.

"Haechan" is a stage name chosen by Lee Sooman himself. Before "Haechan", his nickname for him was "Ayi" because Donghyuck was the youngest among the trainees then. We kinda owe him his current stage name because it is just so fitting, and LSM's a genius for that. He chose this name because in Hanja, it means to be upright and shine brightly.

Haechan stayed true to his name. He even took it one step further. He coined the nickname "Fullsun" which is the direct English translation of "Haechan". In Hangeul, "hae" means sun, and "chan" means full or to be filled.

It is worth mentioning that all his names share almost the same meaning, from Lee Donghyuck to Haechan to Fullsun. In fact, in Hangeul, "dong" is the word for east while "hyuck/hyeok" means bright or radiant. Not only are his stage name and nickname related to the sun, but his real name also means something bright or radiant from the East, much like how the sun rises from that direction.

The best thing about having "Haechan" as his stage name is that he embodies it so perfectly. This is undebatable, and no one can bring up another Haechan who is more Haechan than Lee Donghyuck because as far as we're concerned, he's the only one in the Kpop industry with that name. All thanks to Lee Sooman who kinda gatekeeps the stage names of SM Artists he named.

That said, it's not even only a stage name at this point. Haechan/Fullsun is a whole brand.

It is endearing whenever the Neos associate the sun to Haechan. The Dreamies point to the sun and refer to it as Haechan whenever he cannot be with them due to conflicts in schedules. Ilichil has acknowledged him as The Sun and during his hiatus due to an injury, Mark even initiated they lie down to the shape of a sun to let Haechan know they miss him.

Haechan has incorporated the Fullsun (and Sunflowers) branding in official merch and safe to say, it works extremely well, judging by his new title: Sold-Out Boy.

He is NCT's mood maker, no doubt. Haechan is an ENFP (before he recently revealed that he's already an ISFP) and he brightens up any room that he enters. This is very evident in their video content, whether it is within SM or at variety shows.

Repeat after me: THE SUN IS A STAR! Yes, he is a star through and through, and he shines so much on stage. Both his parents were musically inclined -- his mom is a vocalist and entertainer, as well.

He passed on the first round by singing "That XX" by G-Dragon. Upon the initial screening on the same day, he sang "Hello" by Huh Gak and then "Ugly Duckling" by Son Seung Yeon. He went back for the final screening and sang Justin Bieber's "Baby".

Haechan was the youngest trainee when he joined SM.

He was called a prodigy during his trainee days.

Okay random but like how did you learn all their names I need to know. I don’t not have Lucas, Hendery, Taeyong, Yuta, Johnny, Mark, and Haechan memorized with their name to their faces and I’ve been a stan since like October. Idk why it’s taking me so long because loona took me a week and they have a lot of members too

For me I’ve been a fan since Debut, actually since sm rookies buuut I only actually could tell you who Johnny was back then. So I learned as they added but Jisung, Jaemin, Winwin, Jaehyun and Haechan was the hardest also For what ever reason Yuta and Taeyong were the hardest to tell apart when Yuta debuted, like okay if that’s Taeyong then the other Taeyong is Yuta or the other Yuta is Taeyong. But when I started to watch NCT videos anytime I had free time, then I it was a hundred times easier, especially if you go by like “Johnny funny moments” “Jaemin funny moments” then it’s 11 straight minutes of staring at their faces. I find looking at pictures with their name over it does not help cause their hair changes so much except Johnny, and I would use their hair as a guide but in compilations its various different hair colors so i just focus on the face. I hope that helps

ooooooooooweeeee let’s dig into this HAIRY situation aka A Comprehensive Guide to K-Pop and Cultural Appropriation

Let me preface this by saying that I actually wasn’t going to post this. I wrote this pretty late at night when this first happened and I enjoyed the good vent I got out of it but afterwards, I figured I would just leave the issue alone and not press it any further. However, I saw some Insta comments that just straight up rubbed me the wrong way and I feel like I need to post this, to get it out into the world, if nothing else. 

I’m Black and I truly do understand the magnitude of this issue and how deep it can run for other Black folks. I personally choose not to freak out over cultural appropriation, HOWEVER, that’s a personal choice and It’s ONLY because I’m tired and I know that being outraged about an issue such as this, especially when it’s being enacted by a big company is just going to be an energy drain. There are plenty of things to be outraged about as a Black person and honestly, at some point you have to pick your battles. That’s my opinion. I can’t speak for my whole race. After all, I really am just here to enjoy the music and Mark Lee.

Now, I’ve been into NCT for 1 year which is 1 year longer than I ever intended to be involved with them but alas... here we are and I've honestly kinda been waiting for something like Chenle’s cornrow incident to happen because:

1. It was inevitable because SM and other companies like it do not care about cultural appropriation or the people it offends and

2.  I lowkey live for drama as much as I pretend not to

Anyways, what really gets me when these types of things go down is when people say, and this applies to all of Kpop, “idk why (insert company) keeps doing this when people keep getting mad”... lemme break it down for you sis. SM doesn’t care about the people they are offending because a large majority of fans excuse the act of cultural appropriation. As long as they’re still making cash, they’re chillin’. Nothing is going to change on a company level. I don’t blame Chenle for this one and I don’t think anybody should, HOWEVER, If you’re not Black and you want to comment on it not being a big deal then lemme break this part down for you too. Don’t. It’s not your choice to make. If you want to comment, then I expect you to either be Black, say something supportive or know the history and meaning that lies behind each and every hairstyle. If you feel the need to comment or brush off the fact that this is an issue for others then you should also feel the need to crack open a book or Google or whatever your search tool of choice is and educate yourself on Black hair. Which I know, realistically, is not going to happen. All I’m asking is for y’all to not be completely ignorant. That is something that is also not going to happen. okay, you weren’t going that far so someone has seen you around the area a bunch of times and you were only going a block away

so halfway to some shop for snacks you were fiddling around with the stick and the phone and you were seriously hesitating on pressing any of the buttons to start it up

because what if people look at you oh gOSH! YOU NEED SOMEONE WITH YOU!!! WHERE’S THE LEADER??? THEY KNOW WHAT TO DO THAT”S RIGHT THEY’RE STILL MAD AT YOU PHOTOBOMBING THEIR SELFIE SHOT FOR INSTAGRAM THAT MORNING OHHHHH SNAP

and that’s when you realize that you didn’t put the phone in properly and it might fall out if you don’t fix it

so you’re fiddling even more with the phone and stick and your shaky hands are being such a nuisance to you because the phone just 

will. not .go. in. its. place!!!!!

until somebody takes their hands over yours and guides them to put your phone into place properly

and you look up thinking it’s some creep but no??? it’s..... a cutie

who you recognize as the guy who was so happy to see you when you did your school visits and at first you’re like how is he here?

and you remember that in order to do the school visits you guys had to go to places nearby and at most you guys covered three high schools, two middle schools, and a kindergarten

so those schools aren’t really that far away, at most maybe an hour or two

and when he sees that you remember him he gets so excited and happy and starts to jump around a little bit like

he’s just a happy kid and you let him do his thing because you don’t really know how to tell him to stop and plus

you don’t really want to?

he finally realizes that he’s still holding your hands and doesn’t pull away that quickly because he’s afraid of knocking the phone out and breaking it

but his touch lingers and you find that it’s warm and very...

he smiles and is like

but then he also realizes that you’re also setting up for your vlive and instead of being super jumpy and excited he just gets super calm and nice and he smiles warmly at you

and that smile being directed at you, just you, makes your cheeks warm and a small smile peek up on your own

now jaemin may look calm on the outside but listen he’s screaming

but he manages to keep his nerves on check and says ‘hey, no matter what, nobody with judge you for anything. nobody is always going to be watching. if they are, it’s because of your stunning radiance.’

and his words strike a powerful cord inside of you because he’s..... right there’s not a lot of people out here and even still nobody bats an eye that you’re carrying around a selfie stick still

before you say anything else, jaemin holds up his phone like ‘beSIDES THEY’LL BE WATCHING ME SO GO AHEAD AND DO WHATEVER, I’LL COVER FOR YOU’

and then he runs off and is prancing and jumping around like nonsense and now the very few people still out at the moment are all watching him look at his phone and jump and squeal and you’re about to laugh because

and then you start your vlive

and you’re calm and confident and you deliver just enough to please the viewers and make your members and managers proud of you, but also still show your signature shyness and cute smiles

and then you start talking about how you were going to pick up some snacks for the members and on the way you were having troubles starting it up because you were so shy
