Weird girl and her himbo husband
Lutta's eyes are green-tinted because there's a passage in To Be a King where Hoole sees her next to the ember and notes that they seem to be made from the same stuff.
There was something strange about this owl. Her intensity almost unnerved him, yet she was fascinating. She stirred in him something vaguely familiar. A confusion of feelings. It suddenly dawned on Hoole. She’s not unlike the ember.

Guardians of gahoole vs Warrior Cats
A while ago I was scrolling through the Warrior Cats Wiki and I found something called "Guardians of Ga'Hoole vs Warrior cats. Who do you think wins." (it was on German) and it was pretty funny to read. The first answers were definitely pro Warrior Cats, later more replies were more pro guardians of gahoole.
So who would win, Warrior Cats or Guardians of Ga'Hoole?
(Spoiler warning for Warrior Cats Arc 1 to 7 and Guardians of Ga'Hoole Book 1 to 15 and the rise of a legend.)
So let's start with Warrior Cats.
They are having 5 Clans whit trained Warriors and experienced Healers. They have many allies, like the tribe or the sisters. Also other animals. They have StarClan, the Dark Forest, BloodClan and the leaders whit nine lives. And they are predators, so they are experienced with huntings. Especially the Tribe, whos members are very experienced with hunting down bigger birds very easily.
So wouldn't it be realistic for Warrior Cats to win? I don't think so.
So first we have the Tree alone who are around 600 ouwls or smth. All the warriors alive are like 200 or a little bit more. Then we are having the ouwls of the other owl kingdoms, the owls from the Notherns Kingdoms, the Wolves, the pure ones, the blue ouwls, bears, puffins, Crows, Hagsfiends and Sankt Aeggi. The Ouwls are experienced with weapons (like Battleclaws and Iceswords), Fire, the weather, flecks and Danyar. And the hagsfiends have their fyngrott, which can make you stop moving and eventually kill you. There are also little creatures, called halfhags I guess, who can locate where you are. Not exactly locating but I don't know how to describe it. Yes, Starclan and the Darkforest could both join and yes the leaders have nine lives, butthey all vould get defeated too. So I think theanswer is pretty easy: the guardians would win.
But what if Warrior Cats takes place in the same world as guardians of gahoole? Then I would say that both have a chance to win, the guardians would still have more chances of winning because of flying.
In the world of warrior cats it would be fair too, I personally think that the Warrior Cats would have more chances of a win.
What do you think?

I started this fic a long while ago and then abandoned it forever until last week. I've begun uploading some short chapters here and there whenever I write some, so perhaps check it out if you like hagsfiends!
I don't know if I'll keep on writing this to completion, obv I'm just making this for fun when I have time. We'll just have to see how far I get with it :)

Hagsfiend (Monster)
(Art by Richard Cowdrey)
(The genre of animal fiction is a famed and storied one, and one that was important to me growing up. I read Warriors, and that still has a thriving fandom, but I also read a series called Guardians of Ga'Hoole, which was about owls and had a more fully fantastical setting. Short of a 2010 movie by Zach Snyder, I've seen very little attention given to it.
Hagsfiends are magical monsters that are extinct in the "modern" day of the series, but dangerous threats in the main book. They appear to be both mortal beings and also what owls turn into when they go to Owl Hell. I'm statting them up as the former, but I gave a little nod to this in the flavor text.
One last note, the book cover this image is from caught my father's eye years ago, and him buying that book for me is what got me reading Ga'Hoole. So thanks, hagsfeinds.)
Hagsfiend are condor-sized black birds born of, and infused with, negative energy and witchcraft. They are chittering, raucous animals who have a penchant for cruelty and greed, and a particular fascination with creatures weaker than them. Hagsfiend feathers lack the sleek, oily sheen of natural birds, and are often in disarray, giving them the look of something dead or dying. They have a similar look when walking, often having an awkward hopping shuffle to their movement. In the air, though, they are powerful fliers, capable of hunting and killing even an eagle.
Hagsfiend are sometimes called “crowl” and conjectured to be a dark hybrid of the two; indeed, with their flat faces, black feathers, and combination of hunting and scavenging, they appear to be a sort of in-between. Either bird, when suffused with enough evil magic and negative energy, can transform into a hagsfiend, which appears to be the true origin of these creatures, which now breed true.
Hagsfiend are often found in the employ of dark witches and clerics of evil gods; there, they are typically loyal believers in the cause of some great evil, happy to take part in the violence and pain inflicted on the world. They often form such cults themselves, great rookeries nestled in the heart of dark forests and inland swamps. In such an environment they thrive, and many hagsfiend there advance in level as witches, alchemists, or oracles. Hagsfiend are even known to reside in hell, preferring its icy or citybound layers.
An evil spellcaster of level 7 or higher can take a hagsfiend as a familiar with the feat Improved Familiar.
This black bird is larger than an eagle, with tattered black feathers and piercing yellow eyes.

hello owl people
i have been entirely gahoolebrained for years and years and recently it's been all i can think about (again) so i figured i'd make a sideblog for ga'hoole and occasionally other animal xenofiction.
i'm a huge fan of the coryn books and legends arc (hagsfiends my beloved) so that'll be mainly what i post about. i occasionally draw and write, you can find a list of my ga'hoole fics here.

Sketched a pair of hagsfiends. No characters in particular, but I think they’re really neat. I love giving them long necks for some reason like that I love these silly birds. I like to headcanon that they have facial discs of feathers like owls but the discs tend to be broken up and somewhat irregular
