Myr (Monsters)
Tumblr media
(Silver Myr by Kev Walker)
(I FUCKING LOVE MYR! They're cute, they're iconic, they're interesting bits of worldbuilding... I HAD to make 'em! Mercifully, I've separated Mirrodin from New Phyrexia, and created the Plane of Steel, a fun little plot hook roughly referencing Mirrodin's creation. If you want to make these native to the Plane of Metal- new to PF2- or simply old machines of a dead culture, feel free.
Also, this will contain rules for Mana Myr, which I spiraled off the five colors of Magic, but expect more myr in the future!)
Myr are mysterious creatures native to the Plane of Steel, an artificial plane ripped from the Plane of Earth and turned into a vast network of self-sustaining machines. Myr themselves are the most common denizens of the plane, servitors to an unknown master and performing upkeep on their more complicated cohabitants.
Myr have been imported from the Plane of Steel in rare quantities, and serve as a rare treasure on the Material Plane, loyal servants infused with magical energy. Some, however, fear inviting such mysterious creatures into their homes, especially paranoid wizards and watchful politicians, as it's a known fact that myr are vulnerable to scrying- and it's a distinct possibility that their master is still watching.
Myr are unique among constructs in being easily repairable once slain. Upon reaching 0 health, a construct with the Myr subtype is not destroyed; rather, it turns inactive, and will reactivate upon being returned to positive hit points. However, a myr that reaches -20hp is destroyed as usual. Additionally, the knowledge of how to create myr has been lost or well-hidden, and they lack rules for construction. Fortunately for myr, they are capable of reproducing themselves, although attempts to study how they do so have not succeeded in creating animate constructs.
There are thousands of different kinds of myr, most being only slight modifications on a basic design; what is presented are some common archetypes and a few notable variations.
Mana Myr
Tumblr media
(Myr Moonvessel by Danny Orizio)
Among the most common servitor myr, mana myr work on the machinery that makes up the bulk of the Plane of Metal, and these servitors are attuned to one of the eight schools of magic. Of the myr of the plane, it is the mana myr who are most desired, and those who find themselves in possession of multiple, or let them reproduce, sell them for exorbitant prices.
Each school of magic produces a myr of a different color. Even though they are all made of the same substance, the magic forged into their bodies makes them appear as one of a variety of colors; the mana myr of each school of magic is named after a metal or mineral it resembles.

This small humanoid construct has a strange head shaped like a heavy beak. It resonates with magical energy.

When created, it is infused with magic from one of the eight schools of magic. When used as a focus to cast a spell of that school, the spell is cast at a +1 caster level and with a +1 DC. A mana myr registers as strong magic of its school when viewed through Detect Magic or similar spells. Scrying Focus- Myr are perfect vessels for scrying on. They get a -5 penalty to saves against spells with the Scrying descriptor, and magical sensors made to scry on a myr and its surroundings get a +5 bonus against rolls to perceive it. Additionally, myr- and any object or creature they are in contact with- are not protected by spells such as Nondetection and Screen.

i am definitely the only person who cares about this but I was re-reading parts of Sea of Monsters (irrelevent as to why) and. in the chariot race. well, a.) The Ares cabin has skeleton horses. where did they get skeleton horses? and then, actually more confusingly, b.) almost all the other chariots besides Hephaestus cabin (they have automatons) have normal horses. not pegasi. Percy actually specifically identifies the Apollo chariot’s horses by breed which is very funny to me because Of Course He Would but like. We never see CHB have normal horses at any other point in time? Where did they get the horses?

BMW CSL 3000 Spezial, 1972, by Schnitzer. An E9 coupé AKA the "Green Monster" that had a 290hp fuel-injected 3020cc racing engine "adapted" for road use (starting the car remained a two-person operation). It required at a special permit from the German TUV to be driven on the road

Faller (Monster)
Tumblr media
(ISOPOD by Anastasia Berseneva)
CR9 TN Medium Monstrous Humanoid HD12
(As the name may suggest, these were built from the ground up as an terrestrial whalefall specialists, with the various giant beasties of pathfinder substituting for whales. I actually used fallers as a placeholder name but got attached to it, so here they are! They're up there in CR so that a caravan of five of them puts up a genuine threat for someone who might fight an Adult Red Dragon.
Also I don't love this art for fallers, but it was the most buggy of the bipedal isopods i could find.)
Fallers are wandering nomads who specialize in feeding on the carcasses of great beasts, such as giants, dragons, and large dinosaurs. They live in family groups of up to a dozen individuals and have no leader, employing an anarchic decision making process that may see these groups splitting and reforming as different individuals take different paths. A faller caravan’s lifestyle consists of divining the location to various monster falls and then traveling, possibly hundreds of miles, to such a banquet. Upon reaching such a corpse, they will claim it, defend it, and slowly harvest and feed off it until such a time as it grows thin and they must move on to fresher falls. It’s noteworthy that, due to their powerful innate divination magic, a group of fallers may set camp for a death before it occurs. Generally, these divinations hold true, and fallers find a warm corpse at their destination, but twists of fate are not unheard of, and fallers are generally prepared for battle if need be. Fallers are frequently seen ushering giant flies, which serve as a combination of pet and mount, enabling them to engage flying enemies and scout high-up or hard to reach places. These flys are surprisingly docile and loyal in a faller’s hands.
Fallers are known to come into conflict with adventuring parties over the spoils of the latter’s conflicts; adventurers regularly stake claim to the loot and parts of a particularly dangerous foe, but fallers consider themselves owed the rewards of such a struggle, and practically speaking, are often unable to relocate to a new corpse before the threat of starvation looms. Unfortunately for many adventurers, fallers are trained combatants, and a particularly undiplomatic group of them may spell doom for an adventuring party soon after a proud triumph. Finally, fallers have been known to come into conflict with the cultures dragons and similar great beings surround themselves with; claiming the corpse of a lone dinosaur is one thing, but disassembling and eating a corpse may be less welcome when it’s the corpse of an important leader or respected member of a community. For this reason, cultures led by dragons frequently adopt a kill-on-sight principle for fallers, and kobolds in particular are known to litter a faller’s anticipated path with the most lethal and cruel traps they can manage.
Despite this, faller’s oracular abilities are also known to a few peoples, and some cultures seek out such beings to ask questions, sometimes deliberately luring them by killing a large animal. Fallers are a practical and isolationist type, however, and must be provided some benefit to expend their divining abilities; especially since such abilities are necessary for their way of life.
Fallers' endonym is a series of rasps and hisses unpronounceable to the average mammal or reptile.
This hunched over biped has a hard, segmented shell on its back, a number of segmented limbs, and large black eyes.

Spitballs another ref complete, soma!! She is the one I ship mainly with fang in Regular undertale setting and in her Canon og setting with Makoto. Shes just a lovely lil siren out to have a good time :D and she love her hubband and wife allot.
About soma below!
- she's a fire demon/siren hybrid. She's not meant to look like that for a siren. So she's considered "ugly" to siren standards and thata why her had is broken, sirens tried to bash her head when she was a baby to kill her, thinking she was a bad omen.
- she can turn ablaze like fire, and spit oil like ink that increases the intensity of it to a point that she can make fire happen underwater and it is difficult to put out. If she inks, and sets it ablaze. Consider that an explosion waiting to happen.
- Soma doesn't like using her fire powers as they hurt her allot due to her sensitive skin, her hybrid powers sadly are not stable.
- she used to have horns! But those opened cracks on her cranium are the result of them being gone :,)
- her father is the king of firedemons, and she has no idea what that even means LMAO
-Soma was raised by Orca sirens, hence her mimicing their colors. She can click and whistle like an Orca and dolphin and does this frequently to lure dolphins to kill and eat them.
- she is extremely aggressive to male sirens and prefers they stay away due to past experiences, unless they show an ounce of kindness to her. She will take that as mate worthy and try to court with them (the mistake fang did.). However she has a immense curiosity of the land beasts and humans, finding them very interesting.
-Soma is really clingy and sweet once she's out of her shell. She does like making friends and will do her best to learn their mannerisms to not make them uncomfortable! She knows her customs are different to those on land.
-her tentacles can shift to legs when she's on land, she's a little wobbly but it works PFNG
-Soma has a beak like teeth and three tongues. Her venom is similar to that of a blue ringed octopus but multiplied to her size, she can take down even the largest sirens with it and tear their throats or stomachs open with her mouth. She's genuinly horrifying and WILL make example of someone that tries to hurt her partners or babies
-Soma has two babies with makoto and fang! But in undertale au, it's only one baby with fang.
-in undertale au, soma is simply a siren monster that lives in the surface, most stories where she meets folks is because they either went to the surface or she accidentally fell to the underground through a stream that led her there.

perhaps will provide more thoughts on this later but dungeon meshi is ultimately a story about societal outcasts reckoning with their internalized biases of others by reflecting on their experiences, evolving their perspectives, and building community bonds in the process and I think that is beautiful
