Our Wonderful Days
By Hamuro Kei
A warm nostalgia. The beautiful and detailed artwork. There's a certain groundedness and vulnerability to the writing and presentation. I was deeply invested in the characters and their relationships. I wish it was longer so I could have spent a little more time with them.

'Our Wonderful Days' is a really fun domestic series, and it all wraps up nicely in this third volume. We get to see the girls missing each other, and coming back together, and a really cute scene of trying to speak their love for each other. If you want to read something that feels like a warm, comfortable summer afternoon, this is a great series.

Fourth Yuri Manga Sousenkyo: Fans Vote for the Best Yuri Manga
Yuri Navi, the Japanese site dedicated to Yuri news and commentary, announced the results from its fourth annual Yuri Manga Sousenkyo. The Yuri Manga Sousenkyo is a popularity poll held every year on Yuri Navi where Japanese Yuri fans could vote for up to three of their favorite Yuri series (as opposed to the five from previous years). Voting began on August 15 and ended on the 23. Because of the difference in Yuri works published and promoted overseas, only those living in Japan were eligible to vote. In total, over 3700 votes were cast.
The top thirty results from the fourth Yuri Manga Sousenkyo are below. Titles that have been published in English or that are set to be adapted into English are noted with the Publisher. Top Ten Favorite Manga Series
A follow-up on my Top Ten series: Manga! I have recently gotten into manga (probably over the pandemic), so I thought I would make a list here! This could totally change over time, because I still have a lot of manga to read (so many in my house!), but I thought I would start with these. So here they are, in no particular order!
1. Ancient Magus’ Bride by Kore Yamazaki
This was really the first manga that I read that got me into my love for them. What intrigued me about this series was that it featured so much of English folklore (which is like my fave), and I loved all those details. That’s pretty much my main reason, all the mythology and folklore included in this.
2. Daytime Shooting Star by Mika Yamamori
This manga series is probably my guilty pleasure. Like, it’s not cool for a mid-20s teacher to be dating one of his teen students (I think she’s 15 or 16?), but I think it plays into that old mindset of when I was in high school and had crushes on teachers. So, it’s one that I don’t condone what the subject is about, but I can’t stop reading it because it’s like a soap opera. It finishes next month and I think I’ll be sad about it.
3. The Girl from the Other Side by Nagabe
One of my co-workers had ordered this book into our work, and I remember looking at it as I called her to tell her it had come in. And it just looked so damn interesting. So I picked it up and got so sucked in. It’s dark, weird, and so twisted. But I love it. And so does she, so we talk about it a lot.
4. Komi Can’t Communicate by Tomohito Oda
This series is just silly and fun and I love it. I was super shy in school growing up (junior high and up), so I connect with it that way. But I think the romance is adorable and the friendships Komi makes it just too cute.
5. Love Me, Love Me Not by Io Sakisaka
Oh the drama. Why do I love it so much? This series has so much drama and complications, and I live for it. It may sound silly, but I just do love it. The characters are fun and all the love triangles/twists are done so well.
6. Our Wonderful Days by Kei Hamuro
This series was recommended to my co-worker I mentioned before. We both gush over how wholesome and sweet it is. It made me feel so happy and comfortable and gah. So adorable.
7. Ao Haru Ride by Io Sakisaka
I flew through this series. Again, the romance and complicated characters and all the triangles and switch arounds. But I found it intriguing and fun, and I enjoyed it overall.
8. Flying Witch by Chihiro Ishizuka
This series is SO. DARN. CUTE. I love the main girl, and I love her family and all the witches that show up. I even bought the anime! I think it reminds me of Kiki’s Delivery Service, so it just awakens that soft spot in me.
9. The Witch and the Beast by Koutsuke Satake
It’s funny to be listing these, and to go from the sweet and adorable Flying Witch, to this one. Because this one is brutal and bloody and dark. But it’s another flipside to witches and such. I like the world and the characters, and the darkness surrounding it. So, so good.
10. Living Room Matsunaga-San by Keiko Iwashita
A few of my co-workers have read this series, so that’s how I came across it. And I pretty much feel the same about it with Daytime Shooting Star (since it is surrounded around a romance of an age difference), but it is just cute and I like seeing it unfold.
Runner Up: The Quintessential Quintuplets by Negi Haruba
I just started this series, but I find it pretty funny. I like all the sisters and this poor boy trying to work with them. It kicks on a funny aspect of my humor that I like to witness. So, I’m enjoying it so far.
You know... I notice a couple of themes of what kind of mangas I like.. aha.
