#Harry is an adult btw don't worry

As a children's librarian, people who harass fans of Harry Potter indiscriminately really worry me.
Here's why.
1. The majority of Harry Potter fans are children.
I've had people call me disgusting and scum and an embarrassment to my disabled community. I've been suicide baited and have received death threats. All of this can be heavy enough stuff for an adult to deal with.
And then I think of how most of my 700+ elementary-aged students are huge Harry Potter fans. Because, you know, Harry Potter is a children's series. And they also have access to the internet and social media like TikTok and YouTube.
Now imagine the stuff that's been said to me being said to a kid. Because Harry Potter's main audience are KIDS.
2. This black-and-white mentality isn't healthy.
Very few things in life are cut-and-dry good vs bad. And if you employ this kind of thinking in one area of your life, odds are you'll apply it to other areas too(more on that in a moment).
And people who go out of their way to harass people who like Harry Potter don't seem to particularly care about any context beyond "If you like Harry Potter in any way whatsoever you're scum".
It hasn't mattered when I've pointed out that I absolutely and unequivocally think Rowling's TERF views are awful and scummy and wrong. It hasn't mattered that I try my best to consume the content only in ways that won't monetarily support her, (which kids typically can't do, btw). It hasn't mattered that it's literally in my job description to keep up with children's media to procure content for my patrons as well as to be able to hold conversations with them.
3. Saying "You're not allowed to read this without being harassed" is no different from saying a book should be banned.
This is ironic, seeing as the people doing the harassing are also often up in arms about queerphobic and racist book bans (as they should be) while demanding book bans of their own.
Because in their all-or-nothing way of thinking, book bans are only bad when the "bad" people do it.
No. Book bans are always bad, no exceptions.
Book bans aren't bad because they're banning the "good" books, they're bad because banning access to different ideas is always bad. Because every book has a lesson to teach us (perhaps not the lesson intended by the author, but a lesson nonetheless).

hey!I just wanted to ask,you know Voldemort is 70 or something even older and Harry is pretty much younger than him, right? You know what does that mean.
(btw I don't support that ship but your art is so good^^)
Hello!~☆
Hmm I think as an artist I also have the possibility that I don't always stick to the canon. And if that worries you, fem!HP in my drawings with LV is an adult and both characters are fictional. If I like this ship, does that mean I would support something like this in the real world? Of course not! What I draw is fiction and has no basis in reality, I just like these characters and this ship, which isn't healthy relationship, but well I never said it is. I can only guess what you mean, but I hope I understand you correctly and I explained everything ^ ^
Thank you and have a good day~☆

alright drama. i know this question might not exaaactly line up with your job description but im sure you'll provide a fun answer anyways.
consider an arena, right? closed arena, 10 meter radius. you (either you, or harry honestly) cannot leave and you aren't armed with any weapons aside from your own body. inside of this arena is also one Adult Male Silverback Gorilla, and he wants to kill you VERY badly to protect his own life. it's like he knows in order to escape this arena, he'll have to kill you (or harry, again, whichever is more fun for you to toy around with).
now the question here is HOW MANY CLONES of yourself (or harry) do you think you'd need in order to incapacitate this gorilla. don't worry, the gorilla is NOT REAL and you are not hurting an actual Adult Male Silverback Gorilla. any clones are Aware they're clones btw. they might not be prepared to die but they DO know why they're here.
i need a number estimate and also ideally what your strategy is for handling the Adult Male Silberback Gorilla.
We'd just pretend to not be there!

I mean I agree they should be called out but some people have started giving them way too much power and attention. There is no 'pr battle' other than among some teenage girls on social media lol. I see people following everything these dumbasses say and its like why?! 90% of it is fandom bs that really doesn't require the attention of rational adult people. Leave it on twitter ffs. Istg some of you have totally forgotten how irrational teenagers can be. To an extent, its normal.
A couple of things here- (btw thanks for coming back!)
I still don't know if you remember what it was like in Tumblr 1D fandom nearly 10 years ago in this fandom, and I want to be clear that I'm not saying that in a 'prove your creds' sense. I bring it up because a lot of the things people were saying at that time was dismissed as "basically a few harmless teenagers saying dumb shit, let them work it out" back then too. I just-- I've seen things
I think there's definitely a place for a "guys this isn't even someone with a lot of followers and what they've said isn't gaining traction so no need to bring attention to it" approach which is an approach I tend to follow, focusing instead on trends or the actions of influential CTs in the fandom
CTs *recruit.* An evangelizing group of CTs that has a small count today literally has it baked into their beliefs to increase that count and its influence tomorrow. How big will this faction get in your fandom before it's "too big"? Maybe they'll stay tiny and never grow. I mean, historically that hasn't tended to happen, but maybe they will. I find that hoping they eventually get pissed off and leave hasn't been effective.
I say "PR" "battle" because (and I've said this before) CTs take everything that happens as a case of "things that are meant to be seen." Things that happen are either good PR for them or for the enemy. The thing about Twitter is that fans know how to manipulate what is talked about on Twitter (btw I highly recommend the book Everything I Need I Get From You which has devoted some time to how fans came by this skill and how they use it!). So on one level, yes, it's definitely true that they shouldn't be given the air time to get something trending (like, "Harry was mean to a fan and pushed her and made her cry" or whatever) but it's ALSO true that just letting them put that out there without challenge means that that's the only thing people who don't know the situation will see about the subject. You dig?
Anyway, don't worry about me, at least - I don't even go here! I'm just dropping a warning and a heads up behind me as I fade into the West etc. [harridan shrieks diminish, lol]

Can Your Friends Do This? - Watermelonsmellinfellon, AO3 (Though OP said they cross posted on FF.net too)
Link: Here!!
Rating: Mature
Favorite Quote(s): Because I love The Avatar show
"First, there are more than one dimension and more than one universe. Foolish mortals are the only ones to assume they are the only forms of intelligent life in their respective universes. This Earth we are on resides in a different universe altogether and consists of nations of people who possess an affinity with the elements. Some are born as mixes of two and use chakra to create new elemental affinities or abilities. This planet Earth parallels another planet Earth in another dimension of this universe, where there are only four large nations and each represents either fire, water, earth, or air, and with beings able to bend their own element to their advantage."
And these ones because these four are important.
1. "A lot of suicidal people didn't really want to die, they simply wanted the pain to cease so that living once again seemed worthwhile."
2. Hari was very firm on her decision. She'd always been the one rescuing people and never once realized that maybe she should have been rescued.
3. “Despite his wish to be Hokage and to be a hero, I realized that someone needed to rescue him first for that to happen. And so I took the job."
4. "I've lost many people, and while it doesn't coincide with what others will tell you in life, it actually does get better. There aren't enough hours in the day to keep thinking about what you've lost. There are jobs to do, and people to watch over, and even your own health to consider. You won't have the time to recount every mistake you've ever made. And the pain from their distance will eventually dim and become tolerable. The only way it wouldn't get better is if you keep thinking about it all the time. People who are always depressed over the loss of loved ones are usually the very same people who think about them all the time, which ends up keeping them in their depressed states, to begin with. And then there is no progression."
A Fucking mood from Hari/Harry Potta/Potter
“I don't like exercising. I'm not meant for it."
Because Sasuke is an adorable little shit, which is, as always when it comes to him, The Best
Naruto was teaching someone Taijutsu? It was laughable at best, though he didn't actually laugh. That would ruin his image as the strong and silent loner. He couldn't afford for people to think he was nice or anything.
Because this is something important and personal to ME specifically
"This is all sweets. But they are sugar-free sweets. There are foods you can eat that will give you the energy you need without having a negative effect on your body. Bananas are a good snack. Watermelon, lettuce, leafy green veggies, they all have a lot of water in them. They fill you up quickly, can keep you hydrated, and because most are made of water, you aren't consuming fats and oils. Though do not replace every meal with these things unless you take vitamins and supplements on a daily basis. While there is nothing wrong with being vegan, a lot of vegans forget to take their supplements and vitamins. They especially need those because they keep so many important foods from their eating schedule."
Another Mood
To make it worse… she'd gotten her monthly visit from TOM. She named it TOM in memory of a certain arse who caused her a lot of pain and grief. Her Time of the Month, TOM, liked to mock her for at least five days out of every month and this month was terrible.
And last, but not least, the best thing I have read since I woke up
Potta Hari's cousin was not romantically involved with anyone, or so his sources said. Perhaps marrying someone to her would offer a better chance for an alliance between their clans?
A knock startled him from his thoughts, and he had to compose himself quickly. "Yes?"
"A letter has arrived for you, Hiashi-sama," Kosuke said from the other side of the door.
"Come."
The letter was handed over within seconds, and Kosuke was gone immediately.
When he finally got to the message however, he had to smirk in amusement. He should have known that making plans about a Seer wouldn't go as expected.
Dear Hyuga-sama,
No.
Respectfully, Potta Runa.
And this
Was Danzo literally the only bad person in this world who was bad naturally and not because he had some unfortunate upbringing, was bullied or was manipulated into being bad?
Basically tbh
Words & Chapter(s):  287,295 words and 20 chapters, unfinished, but worth it
Summary: Tsume Yuki's, 'Ain't Never Had a Friend Like Me' prompt.
Master of Death Hari is sealed inside a genie bottle and tossed into the Veil. Only the interference of Death stops her from being enslaved. When Naruto comes into possession of the bottle and frees Hari from her prison, she gets attached and decides to help him, changing everything we know.
Score: 13, this is very amusing, and has no qualms with having humor AND seriousness whenever. Not to mention, I could honestly go back to the very beginning and read it all over again and I’d still love every moment of it in all honesty.
Pairing(s): Hatake Kakashi/Female!Harry Potter, as well as Uchiha Sasuke/Uzumaki Naruto, background Anko Mitarashi/Luna Lovegood
Warning(s): For all that this looks like a lot of warnings it’s just because this fic is well over 200K words, and it’s not nearly as bad as all these warnings look. There’s no major character death (Technically. A few from the HP universe passed before our MC even came into our universe. Still, only casual mentions so far)
Always a girlHarry still had to deal with all the abuse of her counterpart. The ministry betrayed her (Shocking. I know.) mentions of (CANON) past childhood abuse described three-quarters of the way through chapter three, then again in chapter four, no worries though it’s not graphic or gratuitous.
Mentions of death, and the things and ways that death may affect someone (This is a naruto universe crossover fic soooo, I don’t know what you were expecting honestly. At least it’s not as subtly/suddenly angsty as FMA fics get.), attempted murder that fails because Hari is the Mistress of Death (... Is Master not gender neutral??? I thought it was... Still, Mistress sounds cooler and more dangerous)
Mentions of porn, off-screen lemon, etc.
There IS a bit of fat-shaming from certain characters, but they eventually learn better, there are also mentions of children, and others, on diets, and also that have unhealthy eating habits and why they’re not good regardless, as well as the effects of being on a diet while also doing various exercises and rigorous training regimens, but not to worry, it slowly but surely improves.
Manipulation and grey morals, (Again shocking, I know.) which is great because my morals would go very dark very quickly if I were Hari (Because this is a crossover, and she is in Japan/The Elemental) and I’d for some dumbass reason decided to return to my original world (THAT DOESN’T HAPPEN THIS A HYPOTHETICAL WHAT-IF), but Hari doesn’t which is always amazing
World/Dimension displacement. Figured I’d add that just in case, personally I love those types of stories but you never know.
Kidnapping followed by attempted murder fails spectacularly. It is quite amusing to see for my inner sadist.
One of Hari’s family members passed away due to cancer, but it’s a small mention and there’s minimal angst because it happened years ago. The others seemed to have died in a war with the goblins which is only occasionally mentioned here and there.
Someone tries to enslave Hari as a genie. It does not work. Death seemed upset that someone thought that would work at all in the “Like, honestly, who the fuck do you even think you are???” kind of pissed
Danzo and ROOT exist. Sadly.
Also “ the lives of the many are more important than the lives of the few “ is something that seems to be a basic background of the morals of this fic. I know some find this detestable, but I would like to point out that, it’s true. It’s really fucked up, but unless that One has some very important and necessary ability, they are less important than the five-hundred and forty-two. Shitty as it seems.
There’s technically a war. If you could call the opposing sides... attempts a war. No major casualties or uber gruesome happenings though.
There are some injuries, of course, their big but not graphically described as far as I’ve seen up to the current chapter limit.
Pros: GREAT FUCKING WRITING!!! Great research and really immersive too!!!
Hari and Naruto because each others precious people, and Harry protects Naruto as best she, a civilian and witch, can.
The Japanese That Doesn’t Need To Be Written Because You’re Writing This In English And It Doesn’t Make Sense And Is Awkward isn’t present which is always a plus.
It’s really unique and different from what is normally written in these situations (Not that there’s anything wrong with what we normally get!!!) from how a female main character reacts (Very Harry Potter-ish) and whatnot to her romance with other characters to her friendship with them, and also I love the way her relationships are with everyone! It’s just, so, refreshing for a female MC to be written like this, like getting that first bite of watermelon in the middle of summer, and jumping in the pool, or a drink of hot chocolate in the middle of a snowy night.
Not to mention! The way Hari interacts with the world around her and manages to change everything even though she wasn’t trying, and the way she still isn’t overpowered regardless for all that she can use her magic at will. UGH!!! IT’S JUST SO GOOD
Aesthetic: It’s like drinking fresh lemonade after a hard days work, like swimming in your best friends pool after you finish your homework, it’s like a warm cup of tea after a stressful day, and cuddling up to a friend or lover, like dancing to your favorite song while you’re all alone in your kitchen. It is like being alone, but not lonely, ad being with a few good friends but not ignored. It is freeing and refreshing and relaxing and exciting and new and old and so much more. It feels happy, for lack of a better word. Very, subtly, happy.
Gif Aesthetic: Oh my god yes, this is Hari
Tumblr media
and this is what the romance in this fic reminds me of
Tumblr media
and this somehow reminds me of several characters at once
Tumblr media
And this one too sometimes, which is nice
Tumblr media
and this (Except Boruto doesn’t exist obviously, I think this fic was actually started before Boruto even came into the picture actually) is what the fighting looks like
Tumblr media
except for when it looks like this
Tumblr media
Hari and Luna fucking everything up while everyone else watches and decides it is safest to just, not interfere with the crazy witches.
Tumblr media
Hari, Death, and Luna/Runa planning who to fuck up protect next
Tumblr media
Every single Rookie Nine without fail
Tumblr media
(Scroll back up and look at how cute the slimy kitty yawns!!! She’s so cute!!!)

Hi! Sometimes I worry I’m a hypocrite for being anti the pedoships, being pro Jonsa… but then being drawn to Darklina. I just can’t for the life of me get excited by Malina. I don’t hate them, I accept that they’re endgame, they’re just not compelling to me. (Haven’t read the books btw) I’m an adult, I’m not looking at it as a irl relationship model, I like it coz it explores things that I’d never find/seek irl. And I like angst, the tension, the light and dark imagery, the WHAT IF of it all 🥲
Hi there!
We ship what we ship. Honestly, I think one of the allures of shipping is that it is about storytelling. And we humans need stories to survive and thrive. It's one of the best coping mechanisms there is and it is as old as language.
This got long, therefore I put it under the cut.
Sometimes we are drawn to certain tropes. For me it mostly about angst and tension. I'm a sucker for enemies to lovers for that reason but as long as the ship is angsty I'm in.
One thing we should get rid off right away is to insinuate that shipping preferences say anything about our preferences for real life relationship. I am not denying that certain tropes like 'bad boy only needs sweet innocent girl to become a cinnamon roll' have an impact on the expectations on real life relationships and therefore can contribute to e.g. the idea that a woman just has to be nice enough to an asshole to 'convert' him. But that connection is far more complex than "woman reads story about an asshole becoming a cutie for his woman and immediately enters an abusive relationship herself". I mean how condescending towards the woman in question is that? Shipping is not the same as relationship goals.
I think we should allow for different kinds of shipping anyway and these are deeply connected to storytelling in a way. There is fanon and canon and I actually think that this is an important difference and half of the shipping discourse could be avoided if we would try to take this into consideration more often.
Fanon is very often about the WHAT IF: What happens with this character if I twist canon, just a little? What will be the possibilities of this character in this slightly re-arranged canon bent AU? And it can be a very small twist. Like just changing the POV. To give an example: If you just take the dialogue from Harry Potter's confrontation with Draco in the Room of Requirement in "Deathly Hallows" and switch the PoV to Draco and take the pre-condition to 'Draco wanted to prevent Harry from getting killed by Crabbe and Goyle because he knew he was the only chance against Voldemort' you can make it all fit. It's actually amazing. Just take Draco's desperately shouting "Don't kill him, Don't kill him!" seriously, like really seriously and you get another background.
So, fanon can be about exploring beloved stories, about fixing what we think is wrong in canon and so on. Sometimes it is about disliking canon ships or maybe just about not being convinced by them. In HP I knew from book four onward that Ron and Hermione would become a couple and I never liked it. It might be JRK's inability to write good romance or just the fact that I think they just don't fit. Still, I could believe them getting together and it would all have been fine for me, if not for the epilogue and Cursed Child. Without the epilogue I can always imagine Ron and Hermione realizing three years later that they might not be the best of ideas and split amicably. I headcanon that they had the divorce papers with them in the epilogue of Deathly Hallows. lol. Part of my dislike for the ship is that 'friends to lovers' has no allure for me: Where is the angst?
So, I ship Dramione 'enemies to lovers', canon bent and I like to explore how much or how little I can expand on canon or twist canon to make that possible. Because the books are published, they are obviously not canon, but to me at last they have far more story telling potential.
I actually think that the situation with Malina and Darklina is not that much different. I admit freely that I hated Malina in the books, because a) I didn't like fuckboy Mal (the womanizer who only comes around after realizing he's already met the right woman, not my fav trope) and b) I was absolutely convinced that Alina was supposed to get over her crush. So when they actually became endgame I was a bit pissed that my prediction had been wrong. Now, Malina in the show is cute. I sort of like the ship on the show, it is just not very interesting. So, I wonder about the "What if?" and Darklina. Darklina on the show had some good tropes that I really like: He saves her, he feels unworthy, there were plenty of "Beauty and the Beast" allusions. So, yes, the "what if" scenario is very alluring. That all does not mean that I think that Alina should come together with the Darkling in canon. I actually thought he would give his life for hers in the end, but I was mistaken about that as well. *shrugs*.
Now, then there is canon-shipping. Canon-shipping is not only about the couple about exploring the possibilities. It is about where you think the story will go, who would fit together. Who marries who, which couple we see as staying together, which (found) family is reunited at the end, which friends will live side by side is not irrelevant to the story. It is what makes a satisfying story. If a story ends with a death it has to be a meaningful death. Romeo and Juliet die and their death that is sort of pointless because it was the result of a misunderstanding actually turns out to have a point: The reconciliation of the families. If a story ends with a nice family, we are satisfied. Sam Gamgee "I'm home" is a classic!
So canon-shipping and the discussion about who is destined to be together is often about where we want the story to go and how we understand the character. And that is where all the ship wars in the ASOIAF fandom come from. To me, Jonsa was always about the story. About Stark restoration against Targ restoration about nurture vs nature. My dislike for Sans@n, for S@nrion and for Petyr/Sansa was never about the fanon. I can absolutely live with the fact that people ship them. I would not try to convince anyone to leave that ship. I just argue adamantly against anyone who wants one of these ships to be canon and be happy about it (not in general, just if they come on my turf so to say) because I think that at the basis of the arguments for these ships are several fundamental misunderstandings: a) that Sansa is an unimportant character who will end up with a tertiary character b) that it is a good idea that Sansa would end up with someone who sexually assaulted her c) that any of these guys is just a uwu misunderstood baby and not a villain.
I could understand if someone said: I think GRRM wrote grimdark books and Sansa ending up with any of these guys is not a happy ending, but these books never were supposed to have a happy ending.
I think, you can see what I want to argue: One type of shipping is: Oh, I wonder what could happen if I twist this a bit? and the other type of shipping is: This is where I think the author will go. They are completely different.
The first kind of shipping is personal preference and there is simply no way to argue with that and honestly why should you? If someone argues against Dramione and tells me: But it is a toxic, abusive ship, I just shrug and answer: Well, not in my fic.
And anyway, you don't know why people ship something. They might ship to cope. I had a very intensive phase where I sort of shipped Maeglin and Idril from the Silmarillion. In my made up stories Maeglin almost succeeded to get her, but he never did, because she managed to twist away in the last moment. I now know that this was a phase, where I needed this. I was in the middle of growing up and I was a bit frightened about all the grown up things I would have to do and playing with this story in my mind helped me overcome my feelings of being overwhelmed with all the new responsibilities.
So, tldr: fanon shipping is a personal preference. If you ship Darklina in a what-if scenario, why not? You don't run around and tell everybody that the Darkling is not a villain or that the author did not intend for him to be a villain. You might tell everyone that the author should not have made him a 100% villain (and I'm with you there). Fanon-shipping can be quite author-critical. Canon -shipping is about our interpretation of an author's work and their characters. And while this is also a matter of opinion there is also a centuries old tradition of analyzing fictional works and characters and as difficult as that might be with an unfinished work it is still an intellectual exercise not an exercise of our imagination. A scenario where arguments actually count. Where evidence should mean something. It is so difficult within the ASOIAF fandom because the early interpretations that people came up with after AGOT are set in stone and the books are unfinished. Any evidence from the books is doubtful in that light.
One last thing that sort of supports my theory. I ship Deckerstar from the Lucifer show and I like them really very much. But the thing is, I only ever was tempted to write a fic after season 3 finished and it was unclear if netflix would take over. Other than that I have always been so happy with the writing and how the ship develops that I am enjoying fan art and gif sets and everything but there is zero need to write "what ifs". Because the writing is just perfect at least for me and I don't need any other explorations.
Thanks for the ask!

I saw lots of people said that O is that desperate and embarrassing to do this follow thing.. But is it under her control tho? I wonder also with that contract , like how much control she has over all this publicity.. Is it pure just her and hshq doing this and O and H have no say in it.. Because I feel like I become to not like her but I don't know if it's okay because what if she's, forced? (she's an adult I know I just wonder because I don't know how this works) btw idk which one but I don't think it's the same account that your anon mentioned. Bcs that one posted lots of bw pics and somehow act like they're h, lots of larries indeed think that's him tho and he's changed from private and public very often to make it as if it's him
Hi darling. First of all, I can guarantee you that Harry does not have any kind of social media where he turns it back and forth from public to private. And anyone who’s doing that is someone people should stay far away from. That’s super creepy and honestly they should be reported because they’re pretending to be someone they’re not.
Beyond that, I’m sure Olivia has a “team” just like Harry does. And that team works for her, not the other way around. I don’t think she’ being “forced” to do anything, although there are ways one can feel caught between a rock and a hard place and every choice is a bad one.
She’s been an actor for a long time and she’s done her fair share of PR stunts over the years. My guess is that she’s involved in this willingly because she knows how the game is played. That doesn’t mean she loves it, but she’s likely made a decision that this is the best way to insure her career goes the way she wants it to.
I think however you feel about her is how you feel. It’s not good or bad, so please don’t worry if it’s “OK” to feel like you don’t like her. None of us know the whole story... and Hollywood is extremely misogynistic and I’m open to the idea that this was the only promo angle she could get the studio to agree to. But, I don’t know if that’s the case and I’m still super disappointed that it’s playing out this way.
