DS Games for Littles <3
Hi there! I wanted to make a post on DS games that I think are nice for littles, how to download them and how to play them! I'm on Android so I'm not sure about IOS, but I'll be using melonDS for this :3
Step 1: Download melonDS
This is the first step! Though the app is early access, it's still the best emulator I've tried for ds games and the only one so far I know that the microphone works (works choppy but at least it does something compared to drastic)
Once you've downloaded it, make sure the in-app microphone is set to your device's microphone! Go to settings and then audio to change it.
NOTE: I'm not sure about other devices but on my phone, the microphone only works with headphones on, and when entering the app with them on. If I enter the app without them on, it doesn't seem to work unless I restart it with them on. Do check on your phone how this works!
Step 2: Look for ROMs you like and download them!
Roms is the file name of DS games, and I always download mine from here.
The first step to getting games is downloading them! Look for games you like and tap the download button. It'll move you lower on the website, and start downloading! I recommend downloading through Chrome :)) downloading on for example, Opera Touch is hard because the downloads screen there is broken.
Once you've downloaded it, head to where it's located in your phone's files or the downloads screen. Tap on the file and it'll lead you to your phone's files, with a button that says 'extract'. Touch that button and extract the files! It'll then show up on your emulator, if your emulator and roms are under the same directory :))
I recommend making an alternate folder in the device for the games! It's what I do and all of them show up just fine!
*If the list below is too much to skim over, I recommend Hamtaro Ham-Ham Challenge, Zhu Zhu Babies and the Smart Boy's/Girl's games <3
Cooking Mama
Games I recommend:
Build-A-Bear Workshop (a little laggy when you color the house! otherwise plays well)
Crafting Mama
Gardening Mama

Dora the Explorer: Dora Saves the Snow Princess
Dora the Explorer: Dora Saves the Mermaids

This post is being released the same day as in Patreon, as a special occasion.
Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all of you! This year has been a bad one for almost everyone, but that doesn't mean we are not able to celebrate this special day.
This year, we have a bunch of gifts for all who has been a good kid! The elves at Paradise Hamsubs have been working hard to catch up with all that was in the backlog, so let's enjoy it together!
On Patreon, we released these in individual posts, but over here we’re just going to hand down all the presents at the same time, so get ready!
For Xmas this year we have: -2 new subbed episodes! 171 and 218 -1 new revamped episode! 284 -1 new revamped OVA! The birthday special!
Episode 171
This episode was super fun to work on and a little challenging, but the result is great nonetheless. It is refreshing, if you would allow the pun.
You can watch online or download the episode here: Watch Episode 171.
Episode 218
Working on this episode was interesting and we were able to learn a few new words so that was a plus!
Please enjoy it!
You can watch online or download the episode here: Watch Episode 218.
Episode 284 (Revamped)
This episode was originally subbed on January 28th 2014.
It's not that old, but since it is a New Year episode, we decided to revamp it!
This episode has got a massive revamp, it was awfully subbed back then, we have changed almost 80% of the lines, not only small stuff but also changing sentences relevant to the plot.
We also added some cool effects here and then that we hope you enjoy!
You can watch online or download the episode here: Watch Episode 284.
OVA 1 - 3000 Ham Steps searching for Mom! (Revamped)
The first Hamtaro OVA was originally subbed for his birthday on August 2011. It's been a whole 9 years, and although we would like to say that we improved a lot from the previous translation, surprisingly the original work was fairly well translated and the changes there are minor.
However, we did notice that a lot of the karaoke songs were not translated (and the birthday one was even "cut" halfway, weird) so we worked hard on getting all of those properly translated, some of them got improvements on the translation coming from the previous translations we made for them.
There are also translations for a bunch of signs in hiragana that were previously missing, and the raw we used is of the most high quality too!
Please enjoy!
You can watch online or download the episode here: Watch OVA 1.
The whole team of Ham Ham Paradise wants to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
We will see you next year!

July’s Featured Game: Melon Journey 2
DEVELOPER(S): Froach Club ENGINE: RPG Maker 2003 GENRE: Story-exploration SUMMARY: Melon Journey 2 is a story-exploration game about revisiting a town full of adorable animals with eccentric personalities. Yet under its cute and nostalgic surface lies a dark tale of crime and corruption... Play as Honeydew, an employee of a huge melon factory, and travel to Hog Town where melons are illegal. While searching for a missing friend, you'll have to explore the town and its surrounding areas, and speak with suspicious characters in dangerous situations to uncover the truth.
Download the demo from the discord server here!
Our Interview With The Dev Team Below The Cut!
Introduce yourself! We're Froach Club! (Mario - @markeryjane, Karolina - @minipete, & Simon - @carpetbones) Our CEO is rude little roach who goes by the name of Froach. We've all been making games together and separately for a quite a while now and we're currently working on our magnum opus... To see our other games check out froachclub.itch.io & carpetbones.itch.io
Tumblr media
What is your project about? What inspired you to create this game initially? *Froach Club: Melon Journey 2 is a story of crime and political corruption in a town where melons are outlawed. It's a sequel to our (Mario & Karolina) very first game we ever made back in 2012. Back then we had no idea what we were doing and were pretty awful at using RPG Maker 2003, so we had the idea to do kind of a remaster of the game. We accidentally expanded it so much though that it became a huge, fully-formed sequel.
How long have you been working on your project? *FC: Almost 2 years now.
Did any other games or media influence aspects of your project? *FC: Columbo, The Big Sleep, Chulip, Hamtaro Ham Ham Heartbreak, Kino's Journey, Twin Peaks, and Shenmue!
Tumblr media
Have you come across any challenges during development? How have you overcome or worked around them? *FC: This is our first real large-scale project, spanning multiple years of development, so staying organized was a huge challenge. At first we would just work on whatever we felt like, jumping from one part of the game to another. But once Simon became more involved in the project, he taught us his amazing organization skills and we learned how to use to-do lists efficiently and and keep our files straight. And now that we have, things go much more smoothly.
Have any aspects of your project changed over time? How does your current project differ from your initial concept? *FC: We started with a really bare-bones story, and as we built up the world by adding more characters, side-quests, and subplots to the main storyline, the game’s scope began to grow. The world of Melon Journey 2 is now much more detailed and immersive than we originally imagined.
Tumblr media
What was your team like at the beginning? How did people join the team? If you don’t have a team, do you wish you had one or do you prefer working alone? *FC: Back in 2012, when Melon Journey 1 came out, we were just a two person team (Mario and Karolina). We continued making games together for a few years until we started calling ourselves Froach Club and added our 3rd member, Simon. We worked together on u1f439 (https://carpetbones.itch.io/u1f439) and Fish Fly Fever (https://froachclub.itch.io/fish-fly-fever) and now Melon Journey 2!
What is the best part of developing a game? *Mario: Making the music, when a scene comes together and the music fits the tone perfectly it's really satisfying. Karolina: Coming up with crazy ideas in the beginning and thinking of all the possibilities! Simon: Creating any form of a dense or rich world for people to interact with or experience.
Do you find yourself playing other RPG Maker games to see what you can do with the engine, or do you prefer to do your own thing? *FC: Back when we started out, we played a lot of RPG Maker games on rpgmaker.net and it was a big source of inspiration because it helped us feel like our ideas were doable without any previous knowledge of programming or game making. Yume Nikki in particular gave us a lot of ideas on how to make the most out of RPG Maker 2003, like hacking together menus out of pictures, and creating complex animations using multiple charsets.
Tumblr media
Which character in your game do you relate to the most and why? (Alternatively: Who is your favorite character and why?) *Mario: Bailey is my self-insert character kinda. Karolina: Lily. She has really strict Russian parents (who are actually based on mine) and she has a hard time finding a place where she feels like she truly belongs. She goes through a lot but never truly stops caring about what she believes in. Simon: I actually am Ham Ghost Jr.
Looking back now, is there anything that regret/wish you had done differently? *FC: At some point the project kind of outgrew RPGMaker 2003 and we really regretted using it, but we've come to appreciate the limitations and they've helped to shape the game in some ways so we regret it less now, especially since discovering easyRPG which we're using to port the game!
Do you plan to explore the game’s universe and characters further in subsequent projects, or leave it as-is? *FC: We like to joke about making Melon Journey 3D, but who knows, it might actually happen one day! We are leaving the ending of MJ2 a little bit open ended~
Tumblr media
What do you most look forward to upon/after the release of a project? *Mario: Being able to start a new project. Usually by the end of one project the only thing motivating me is getting it out of the way so we can start on the next thing. Karolina: Seeing if people enjoy our game! I dream about people making fanart and silly deep lore videos. That would seriously make everything 100% worth it. Simon: I cannot wait to get started on a new (maybe even bigger) project!
Is there something you’re afraid of concerning the development or the release of your game? *FC: All three of us have an intense fear of something going horribly wrong on the day of the release. That's honestly the scariest part of making a game - saying that you're officially finished with it.
Do you have any advice for upcoming devs? *FC: Try your best to get your game done and limit the scope! Even if it's not perfect or exactly like how you imagined it, the experience and growth you get from releasing a game is the most important thing.
Tumblr media
Question from last month's featured dev @midnighttrain-project: What do you value most in a game? (story, gameplay, art,...) Is that an important aspect of your game? *Mario: I think the interplay of the elements of a game is more important than what the individual parts are like on their own. Like, a simple animation can be transformed by adding a really good sound effect to it, so it's hard to separate elements or say that I value one more than the other. Karolina: I value the story most in games. Even when the art or gameplay is great, if there are glaring plot holes I always spend too much time focusing on them and get pulled out of the experience. That's why we spent so much time making a super well thought-out world and characters for MJ2! Simon: I really enjoy gameplay over most parts of any game, especially if the gameplay is well designed and interesting.
We mods would like to thank Froach Club for agreeing to our interview! We believe that featuring the developer and their creative process is just as important as featuring the final product. Hopefully this Q&A segment has been an entertaining and insightful experience for everyone involved!
Remember to check out Melon Journey 2 if you haven’t already! See you next month!

list of hamtaro games ranked least to most difficult
Hi Hamtaro! - this game is targeted at kids who are still learning how to count up to five and how to tell different shapes apart. little to no understanding of language is required to play this game (you could probably even play it in a completely foreign language with no problems), and the minigame controls are made so that anyone who can hold a stylus can play it. it could literally almost not be easier to play.
Ham-Ham Heartbreak - this is an adventure game which involves exploring, talking to characters, and solving problems by using the right (collected) responses (hamchats). it requires some puzzle- and problem-solving think skill, and has a few minigames, but it’s all very kid-friendly and easy enough to play as long as you understand english and can press buttons.
Ham-Hams Unite! - an adventure game similar to HHH, but for the gbc instead of the gba. certain things might be slightly less straightforward in HHU, and the controls may be slightly clunkier because it’s a gbc game, but it’s pretty similar in difficulty to HHH.
Rainbow Rescue - this game has the same adventure and problem-solving elements as HHH and HHU (sans the collecting of hamchats), but revolves around minigames, some of which can be a little bit challenging (but almost all of which can be skipped if you struggle with them). the minigames make it a lot more challenging than its prequels, but the story might be more straightforward and include more suggestions what you should be doing than HHU or HHH at times. the maps are far bigger than either though, so it’s easier to get lost.
Nazo Nazo Q - this is an unlocalized game that revolves around solving riddles. the entire game is quite straightforward, and there’s no room to be lost in the story or maps, but the riddles are in japanese, and the game mechanic revolves around recognizing the answers to the riddles from as little syllables as possible. it requires a bit of puzzle- and problem-solving skill (not much, the riddles are not very difficult as far as i can tell), and a reasonably good understanding of japanese language (although pretty much everything is written in kana, not kanji, if that helps).
Ham-Ham Games - this game is just really hard. its an olympic games sim revolving around playing minigames as well as you can, and most of them are challenging even on easy mode. they are more difficult on hard mode. you don’t actually need to win every minigame to “beat” the story, but it kind of is the idea of the game as a whole. this is the hardest hamtaro game. i cannot imagine a child breezing through it. i cannot imagine an adult breezing through it. i’m crying tennis is so hard

What kind of game is Hamtaro Hamham music Paradaichu? Hamtaro Hamham music Paradaichu is a game software created for a game machine called Super TV-PC released by Epoch. The Super TV-PC was released only in Japan and was a PC-type educational game machine with a keyboard and mouse arranged almost the same as a real PC. It was connected to a TV and played. Hamtaro Hamham music Paradaichu was not an educational game like Hi! Hamtaro Ham-Ham Challenge, but an adventure game similar to Ham-Hams Unite !, Ham-Ham Heartbreak, Rainbow Rescue, etc. Released October 25, 2004 in Japan only. As a result, it was not translated into other languages. Also, its existence is very minor due to its special software. The story of the game is as follows: Ham-Hams has decided to hold a concert on Brandy's birthday. But they do not have instruments. So I decided to go on an adventure collecting instruments. https://www.mercari.com/jp/items/m72766723070/?_s=U2FsdGVkX18x3Pa2Asz4ml7rMql9OWhqfhfXGo3DfVnxpJf6L-5WK6C83zVe5pCSKT89KRhUtRgCEVRdTiYHkdBXGFsx5G4jTnG4x3uEXTSqUQUjOO0Qkq-TTJ-sbUFc

Debunking Hi! Hamtaro Ham-Ham Challenge Myths
Hi there! Since the Hamtaro news has been awfully quiet lately, I’ve decided to make this post to debunk myths about the Hamtaro DS game, Hi! Hamtaro Ham-Ham Challenge. It’s the final Hamtaro game AlphaDream developed before they started developing mainly Mario & Luigi RPGs. Here’s a snippet of the Trivia section on the game’s article on the Hamtaro Wiki. It states all of the myths the game has: “ On release, AlphaDream thought that as Hamtaro hadn't aired in the US or Europe for almost 5 years, no-one would remember the Ham-Hams and so requested a quiet release for the game. Also to remind people who the characters were, in the US and EU version had a cutscene at the start of the game to remind the player who they were. ” Let’s start with the first point about the “quiet release.” AlphaDream was not the publisher for this game; Natsume and 505 Games were. AlphaDream cannot request their game for a quiet release, especially when it’s a bad business decision. Considering they created one of the worst-selling Mario games, which led to their bankruptcy, it’s unlikely that they would want a quiet release unless they were very embarrassed by their creation. “No one would remember the Ham-Hams” is also not true. They created remakes of games that are at least ten years old, and they didn’t request a quiet release then. Also, thanks to sites like the Ham-Ham Paradise, while the Hamtaro fandom in the West is usually small, it’s not extinct. AlphaDream has catered to the niche Mario & Luigi fanbase, which has been decreasing since 2013-2015, so they would probably not quietly release a game because of obscurity. Finally, the Japanese version does have the introduction intro. Here’s a comparison video between the two: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=MODGYMozbpg In conclusion, don’t always trust wikis. Based on the evidence provided, this seems to be more of Natsume neglecting to advertise the game for business reasons than AlphaDream’s request. In fact, it seems more likely that Natsume thought it wouldn’t be successful, not AlphaDream. If anything, AlphaDream saw the game as a side project. Considering the Scratch Cards and Oxnard’s food minigame are very similar to their other game’s elements, they probably made the game for extra money while simultaneously making their biggest hit, Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story.
