Ethereal Visit

The room was quiet as Sonia shifted in her hospital bed, doing her best to finally get some sleep after all that happened, her half-awake eyes looking as Geo slept on the couch in the room near the windows.

“Lucky you...I can’t sleep at all. You’d think the painkillers would help with that.” she murmur to herself as she tried to sit back and let sleep take her, only to no avail.

As her eyelids slowly blinked back and forth, she felt a light slowly shine into the room over where the door was, figuring a doctor or nurse was coming to check on her...yet she heard no footsteps at all. It was too strange and now this began to alarm her slightly.

She turned her head to where the light was and saw something slowly approach her bed, her eyes still somewhat heavy from her attempts to try and sleep. “Who...who is it?” she asked with a bit of hesitation.

The light drew closer and began to take on a more human-like form, its hands moving to the sidebars of the bed, gripping it lightly as Sonia could slowly make out a smile on the being’s face before it slowly opened to speak.

The voice emitting from the figure sent chills down Sonia’s spine.

“It’s been so long, my sweet Sonia…”

Her eyes now fully widened as the voice resonated with her, and soon the brightness faded, the figure now in full view of her.

Her mother.

“Ma...Mama…?” she asked as her voice trembled. “Is...is this…?”

“Yes, I’m here, darling.” her mom said as she moved a hand to gently touch the side of her cheek. “You’ve blossomed into a beautiful woman, Sonia…”

“No...it’s not you...it’s gotta be the drugs they gave me…”

“Oh, I assure you, it’s me. It’s so wonderful to see you again.” her mother responded.

“I don’t...get it…” Sonia said as she moved her hand to touch the glowing hand of her mom. “Why are...you here?”

“Sometimes, us souls are able to cross the divide, check in on those we’ve left behind. And I wanted the chance to see my newborn grandson.” She smiled.

“You...you’ve seen Sky?”

Her mother nodded. “He’s such a beautiful child, he has your nose.” she added as her finger moved and lightly poked Sonia’s nose.

“I...I’ve missed you so much, Mama...every day…”

“I know...and I’ve missed you too.” she smiled before a slight frown appeared on her face. “Forgive me, Sonia...I never wanted to leave you alone; I fought for so long because the thought of leaving you all along scared me more than death itself.”

“No...it wasn’t anything you could do, Mama…” she comforted her. “Look at me, I’m fine...Yes...I was alone for a short while, but then I found true friends...I found Geo…with him, I feel complete.”

“My son-in-law, eh?” her eyes rose up to see the sleeping man turning on the couch to face away from them. “He takes care of you well?”

“More than you know, too much to tell; but he’s always been by my side through everything. I ended up helping him as much as he helped me...and…” Sonia trailed off.

“And you fell in love with him because of that...I’m glad you have someone you love that will always have your back.” she said as her glowing body soon began to flicker a bit. “Seems my time is almost up…” she said solemnly.

“It’s alright, Mama...we’ll meet again someday…” Sonia said.

“I know, but you’ve a long life ahead of you; we can catch up more the day you yourself cross over the divide.” she smiled.

“I look forward to it…”

“His name was Geo, was it? I hope the two of you live your lives to the fullest in the happiness you’ve found with each other. Treasure the love you have for one another, always.” her mother uttered.

“We will, Mama...Sky is enough proof of that.”

“Take care of my grandchild and raise him right. You’re in the shoes I found myself in when I had you, and I’m proud of the woman you’ve become…” she looked down at her. “I love you, Sonia, and I’m always with you.”

“I love you too, Mama...I’ll make you proud; you gave me so much in what little time you had, and I’ll make sure I give everything to Sky and any other children we’ll have.”

“That...good to know…” she said tearing up a bit. “It will...let me rest a bit easier now knowing you are in good hands…” she said as she smiled before slowly fading away.

“Thank you, Mama...for everything.” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Just a little one-shot I came up with at work that I'll most likely adapt into the overall Star Lovers Infinite universe. Though please excuse me if it seems a bit off in some spots with the dialogue; trying to come up with a conversation at 4 in the morning can be a bitch. And yes, the next chapter of SLI is still coming; things have just been a bit hectic the past few months.

No, those weird dark line cuts are not from my scanner, it really was printed that way. It's more noticeable at full view in this resolution, so it appears his scans of Hayaya and the Tribe art were on multiple pieces of paper and they weren't aligned perfectly before being captured for this book.

While I haven't fully cleaned it up for Scan of the Day, you can still see a cleaner scan of Hayaya's settei here, that I have already posted.

I love Misora's civilian design, but GOD do I love Harp Note's design They managed to make 'feminine' without 'stereotypically girly' and that's the Best

I have headcannoning for most of the Starforce cast actually, unlike magireco's cast I should make a larger post on some of them at some point when I have brain cells intact
