English Wikipedia only ever talks about the negative effects of salt/sodium. Which, yeah fine not everyone is disturbingly hypotensive, syncopeic, and constantly on the verge of dehydration no matter how much they drink because they're constantly losing it all in the bathroom and therefore don't need to go hog wild on the salt on damn near every meal to not pass out in three different ways, but I want to hear the good effects from salt too.
For instance, even discarding the anti-I-go-faint properties, I've noticed on days where I don't get enough salt my ability to digest and process food gets impaired, which often resolves when I eat/drink something salty. But I can't find anything about salt's role in digestion so I don't know how or why that works. Why does gargling salt water help a sore throat? And I feel like my brain gets a boost immediately after intaking salt. Also, let's talk about iodine! I've got ninety-nine health problems but goiters ain't one!
Anyway, let's give a sickly round of applause for sodium chloride!
