🍔 Updated review ━ 📍 Honest Burgers ★★★☆☆ • Honest Burgers opened their first restaurant back in 2011, and were a part of the first wave of London’s big burger boom. We reviewed them back in 2014, and back then they belonged among the best burger joints in England’s capital. Nowadays they can be found throughout England and also in Wales, with stylish restaurants and a short and sweet menu with four beef burgers and several alternatives with chicken, lamb and vegetarian proteins. • During our latest visit to their Brighton location we ordered their signature Honest burger, with smoked bacon, cheddar, red onion relish, lettuce and pickles. It cost 13 GBP (14 USD) including an order of rosemary salted french fries. The first thing we noticed this time around was that our hamburger looked quite small, and that the bun wasn’t as soft and fluffy as we’d remembered it. We still liked the flavour of the bun, and the same could be said about the patty which also had a nice and pink centre. The bacon was a bit burnt at the ends, but the cheese was properly melted over the meat and their pickles added a lot of flavour and crunch. Their signature rosemary salted french fries had a satisfying potato flavour, but we would have preferred more rosemary. • We were a bit disappointed that Honest Burgers didn’t live up to our previous visits. Available until 27th November, make sure you check out this brilliant @honestburgers x @bklynbreweryuk collab. Seriously, I loved it! On paper it sounds like a standard bacon cheese, but they’ve done it so well. Those beer braised onions bring a depth of flavour to the burger which gives a balance to the saltiness of the beef and sweetness of the candied bacon. Giant Umbrella or Jumbrella installation

Another new restaurant opened this week for Honest Burgers in Tooley Street, London Bridge. A former railway arch now transformed into a fantastic restaurant serving their Great British Burgers and local beers. Radiant Blinds & Awnings installed 2no 4m by 2m umbrellas with bespoke hand made base benches, side benches and seat pads. @HonestBurgers – Ealing Broadway, London HALAL STATUS: Halal chicken burger & wings (prepped and cooked separately) • Alcohol and pork served #HonestBurgers is a well established burger brand with the vast majority of its restaurants located in London. Of the 27 based in the Capital, four currently cater for Halal chicken, namely Baker Street, Bond Street, Ealing and Tooting. So what's our honest assessment of the three burgers had? On the whole, and despite how good the vegan burger was, we were left sorely disappointed, only because it was primarily the availability of the Halal chicken burgers that prompted us to visit in the first place. On top of that, we were served arguably the worst onions rings we've ever reviewed! Had we been given the chance for a second try, we would have happily obliged. Instead, management sufficed in striking it off the bill. Perhaps it was a bout of expectations, but, all in all, we had a disappointing experience.
