Private Screening - MV1
Pairing: Max Verstappen x fem!reader
Word Count: 1.4k+
Warning: Max being oblivious, mention of sad reader
Summary: You really wanted to go to the private screening of the F1 movie, but Max doesn't want to
A/N: messy and all over the place
F1 Masterlist / Masterlist
To say you loved movies was an understatement. At any free moment, there was bound to be a movie on. Which is why when they announced they were making a movie about F1 with the same director as Top Gun: Maverick, you were beyond excited.Â
The chance to watch them film during the season and also meet the actors made you giddy. Your excitement was more than all the drivers combined, which was hardly any, considering they honestly couldn't have cared less about it.Â
Max was one of those who wanted to stay away from the movie. If he had the chance to decline partaking in it, he would have dropped it in a heartbeat. Unfortunately for him, his job forced him, and even more so, you would not stop talking about it every time a promo dropped.Â
"Do you think you guys will be invited to the premiere or a private screening?" You asked Max one day while watching yet another trailer drop.Â
"If we do, I probably won't go," Max said, not even batting an eye. It was off-handed and you knew you shouldn't have made it a big deal, but deep inside, you were a little hurt.Â
The next week, it seemed like everyone was talking about the private screening of the movie for everyone who worked in F1, even down to the engineers. Knowing Max would decline meant you wouldn't be able to go; you were sulking whenever the topic was brought up.Â
"What's with the sad face?" Charles asked, seeing your face drop as he and Alexandra were talking about what they were wearing to the premiere next week.Â
"You're coming right?" Alex inquired, seemingly knowing what was going on, but she wanted you to be the one to say it.Â
"I wish. Max doesn't want to go, and Red Bull is giving him an out." The fact that your eyes didn't meet theirs, instead focusing on the drink in front of you, was a sign that it bothered you a lot.Â
"Does he know how excited you are for it? I swear it's all you've been talking about last season."Â
"He knows, but I don't think he declined the invite to hurt me. He saw an opportunity to get out of going and took it. I know I shouldn't be sad about it, but I'll get over it."Â
"Come with us," Charles mentioned.Â
"What?" Your eyes snapped up to his in disbelief, thinking he was playing around. Instead, you found a genuine smile.Â
"Oh yes! You can hang out with me! It'll be so fun!" Alex exclaimed with a big smile plastered on her face.Â
"Are you guys sure? I don't want to overstep."Â
"Trust me. It'll be fine." Charles waved off your concern, not showing a hint of worry.Â
Leading up to the premiere, you were super happy. No more the gloomy state you were in. Max noticed it, of course, he noticed mostly everything about you. He was curious about the sudden mood change, but didn't chalk it up to anything. Maybe it was just one of those weeks. If it were anything important, he would be the first one you told.Â
He didn't ask about it until the night before the premiere. He was lounging on the bed with the cats while you were in the walk-in closet trying to find something to wear. Not like you were going to be photographed, but there might be a picture or two that would be circulated. This was a big deal to you, and you wanted to look as good as you were going to feel.Â
"Schatje, are you almost done? I want to relax and I can't do that without you right here in my arms." He yelled out, borderline whining that you weren't in bed with him.Â
"Yeah, just give me a few minutes."Â
"The race isn't for a few more days, you don't need to look for an outfit right now. Plus, in case you didn't know, it's in the city we live in. No need to rush." He tried again, but to no avail, you didn't come to bed.Â
"Not for the race bubs. It's for tomorrow."Â
"Going out with the girls?" He wondered, thinking he had forgotten that you mentioned it to him.Â
"Yeah, you can say that. Alex and Charles invited me to the F1 movie screening." Hearing that, he got off the bed and made his way to the closest, confused. Did he hear you right?Â
"The what?"Â
"Remember the private screening for the drivers and crew. Well, since you weren't going, Charles invited me." You shrugged, not making a big deal. It wasn't a big deal anymore, now that you were going.Â
"Why didn't you tell me you wanted to go?"Â
"Because you said you weren't going to go before I even had the chance. Even so, you know I've been excited for it, of course, I would want to go." You sighed, looking at him standing in the doorway. It was foolish to think he wouldn't find out, but you didn't know he would make something out of it.Â
"I'm sorry, you get excited for practically every movie. I wasn't thinking." He frowned, pulling you into his arms. You knew he felt bad, but there was nothing to hold against him.Â
"Don't stress it. I know you don't like media stuff, and you aren't that interested in the movie."Â
"Let me take you tomorrow." At this, you chuckled at his sudden urge to wanting to go. He was doing this because he felt bad. You didn't want to force him to go if he really didn't want to, and you know he didn't.Â
"Don't be silly. How often do they let you decline something work-related? Plus, I'm going with Charles and Alex."Â
"I know you're excited for it, and that's all I need. I'm taking you." The comment came out more as a statement. It was final. He was going to take you no matter how hard you tried to convince him.Â
"It's the night before, what are you going to tell the team?"Â
"Im Max Verstappen, 4 time world champion. What are they going to do? Decline me?" He had that famous Max Verstappen smugness in his tone. One that would eat everyone up.Â
"And your fans say you're humble." You rolled your eyes, and he couldn't help but chuckle.Â
Like it was planned all along, you and Max were making your way up the steps of the theater. Cameras flashed from all around you, but you didn't care about any of that. The only thing you cared about was watching the movie.Â
"Max! Looks like you made it!" You looked up to the Red Bull social media, Jessica already with a phone fired up in her hand.Â
"I did." He said with a slight smile, his way of telling her it was okay to film.Â
"Are you excited to see the movie?" She said, holding up the camera to get it all on record.
"My girls' excited about it, so that means I am too." At this comment, you could feel the heat rise to your face, and you tried to look anywhere but the camera. You felt Max's eyes peering down at you, and from he corner of your eyes, you saw Jessica smirking while filming you. Whether it was the bluntness of Max or the numbers it will do on social media, she loved the comment either way.Â
"We are glad to have you both." She smiled before ending the video and putting her phone down, thanking you both for the content.Â
"Well, well, well, look who decided to show up." Charles' voice came in right from behind you guys with Alex on his arm.Â
"Did she tell you about the situation?" Max groaned, not liking Charles' smug look.Â
"I knew, I just got the confession out of her." Alex shrugged like it was nothing.Â
"Well, all that matters is I'm going to have the chance to see the movie a whole month early. Speaking of you guys should hurry up and do press so we can get to the actual movie." You pushed the two drivers away in the direction of where the rest of them were.Â
"You practically begged me to come, now you're getting rid of me?" Max couldn't help but tease.Â
With a raised eyebrow, you looked at him in disbelief, "If I remember correctly, you begged me to let you take me."Â
"Same thing."Â
"Will you just go? I'll meet you inside." Rolling your eyes yet again, this pulled a laugh out of him. Â
"Save me a seat?"Â
"Least I could do." You smiled before he pulled you in for a kiss.Â

FAN BEHAVIOR

characters: dick grayson, jason todd, tim drake summary: batboys with a celebrity! reader content/warnings: fem! reader, fluff
DICK GRAYSON
Youâre an actress who has had a meteoric rise, moving from doing small, one-off parts in TV shows to becoming a breakout star on a particularly popular series to being cast in major movie productions
Your stardom is still a little surreal to you and when youâre invited to a wayne enterprise charity gala, you contemplate not going â what business do you have being somewhere with people far more famous than you? But when you tell your agent this, she gives you a look that says youâre insane for even considering declining
Youâll forever be grateful that she urged you to do so because thatâs where you meet Dick
Heâs standing with Bruce Wayne, chatting with some frequent donors, dressed in a perfectly-tailored navy blue suit when he sees you out of the corner of his eye and he lights up. He approaches you first with that megawatt smile and introduces himself with an extended hand and says, âIâm a huge fan! Iâve been watching your stuff since you were in Legends of the Kingdom!â And the rest is history
Dick goes to every red carpet event you invite him to and he makes it a point to attend every private premiere screening and public opening night
He definitely shushes anyone who talks during your movies or TV shows and does not care if people think heâs obnoxious.
Youâre definitely the âit coupleâ and your faces are plastered constantly on magazine covers and two-page spreads
There are people who try to sow discord in your relationship and their go-to is either pointing out how different you are to Dickâs former girlfriends; that youâre not his type, that this isnât going to last, etc., or that youâre not talented enough for the fame you have or to be dating Dick Grayson
It definitely gets to you and does nothing to whatever lingering imposter syndrome you harbor but Dick is such a grounding force, reminding you that itâs all just noise and that he loves you completely and unconditionally
At home, he likes to rewind your scenes in shows and movies, and it flatters you as much as it flusters you
He also likes to read through scripts with you when he can and his voices for the various other characters bring you to tears from laughterÂ
So many intentional and unintentional thirst trap couples pics. Like, a selfie you post one morning â Dick is shirtless and youâre in one of his old t-shirts and its sliding down your shoulder and showing your collarbone and youâre both laying on your stomachs in your shared bed, hair sleep (and sex) tousled with the morning sun making both of you look like youâre golden and glowingÂ
JASON TODD
You meet Jason as Red Hood first when youâre running from the paparazzi but you donât know itâs him
They chase you down a couple of blocks before someone tugs you into an alleyway and youâre about to scream for help when you see who it is. Red Hood shields you as the paparazzi pass and when you ask him why he helped you, he simply says, âI hate the paps and you looked like you needed a hand.â
Once heâs sure the coast is clear, he walks you back to your hotel using the back alleys of Gotham. You make several attempts to strike a conversation up with him in the first few minutes of your walk but what seems to catch his interest is when you start rambling on about just finishing Dostoevskyâs Crime and Punishment.Â
Youâre disappointed when you arrive at your hotel and youâre rush inside to find a pad to scribble your number on but heâs gone when you return, disappearing into the night
Itâs by chance that you meet him again (unbeknownst to you), this time in his civilian identity as Jason Todd. Youâre in disguise at a bookstore in Gotham when you bump into him and spill his iced coffee all over both of you, apologizing profusely and offering to buy him another drink, which he accepts. (His voice is oddly familiar to you but you canât put your finger on why)Â
You two keep in touch and start dating privately. The long-distance is difficult at times given your very different and busy schedules and Jason is pretty cagey about what he does but you both make time for each other as much as possible
He tells you that he listens to your music during his workouts and in the background while heâs doing stuff around his apartment. He hums along too.
He recommends your songs to anyone who listens, which raises suspicions in the Batfam, and it obviously doesnât take long for them to figure out that heâs dating you but he makes them promise to keep it to themselves.Â
Whenever you have a concert in Gotham, which you make a point to do frequently, Jason is in the VIP box, bobbing his head and mouthing along to your songs. When it ends, heâs right there backstage with flowers and a thermos of tea for your throat
Your relationship goes public when fans capture of video of you two leaving one of your concerts together, Jasonâs leather jacket draped over your shoulders
You eventually move to Gotham to be closer to him and the two of you spend every free moment either of you have together, making up for lost time.Â
You still try to keep your relationship as private as possible but fans eat up any crumbs they get, including the occasional selfie of you bothÂ
He is your biggest inspiration for songs and also your biggest help. You love bouncing ideas off of him and he likes sitting with you when you pick at your guitar strings and mumble a half-formed melody
(You eventually do find out that heâs Red Hood when he tumbles through the window of your bedroom, bleeding profusely, and you have to take his helmet off to assess the damage)
TIM DRAKE
Youâve known Tim since you were kids given that your parents ran in the same social circles
You started out as a child model in department store clothing catalogs. Tim did some shoots with you too but while his parents eventually stopped auditioning him for such jobs, you continued until the present day, and youâre now a well-known supermodelÂ
You two have been friends forever and the internet laps up your interactions together. There are compilations of videos and photos of the two of you at banquets and red carpet events and memes with text like âwhen will someone look at me like that?â
Before you two even started dating, there were articles about a supposed romance and sexual tension between you two. In interviews, you would vehemently deny anything asked about it and reiterate that you two are just good friends
At some point, however, you start seeing your childhood friend in a different light. Heâs kind, brilliant, funny, attentive, and very handsome. Itâs not that you didnât know that before but itâs different now. You find yourself shying away his casual touches and suddenly conscious of your actions around him â did you laugh too loud? Is your hair in your face? Does he know how you feel? Can he tell?
You donât want to ruin your friendship, as cliche as it sounds, so you did your best to keep your feelings under wraps, which resulted in you distancing yourself. When Tim would text to congratulate you on your latest Vogue cover or runway show, you would simply shoot a simple âthanks!â text back instead of the usual âTHANK Uâ followed by five heart emojis.Â
He confronts you about it one day and youâve never really been a good liar in front of him so you tell him, bracing for a gentle rejection but instead receiving a kiss.Â
You made a hard launch post with him on Instagram and received hundreds of DMs of people saying they were vindicated in believing that âfriends donât look at each other like thatâ
Tim is in the front row at every single runway show you have, dressed impeccably in an expensive suit. He takes pictures of you and visits you backstage with your favorite sweet treat.
After fashion shows and other events, you return to his apartment to let your hair down and put your feet up. You do your skincare routines together, sheet face mask and all, and snuggle on the couch for some TV or just to hang out and talk endlessly
Youâre very active on social media with him and you two have a lot of couples posts together. When you both have time, you do Instagram lives where people watch you two make dinner together or answer some questions from viewers. A fan favorite is when you choose outfits for each other.
During a runway, you blow a kiss at Tim in the audience and the camera zooms in on his face, where he just watches you with a lovestruck expression and bright red ears â itâs in almost every video compilation thatâs titled something like â15 minutes of Tim Drake being a simpâ

Out of my league || Drew Starkey x fem!reader

Summary: Fans have always speculated that Drew was dating someone until he confirmed it in an interview. After digging through Drew's socials, fans stumble upon you, a Yale law student.
Warnings: age gap (r is 23)
Word count: 515
A/n: my absolute dream to study law at Yale, Oxford or Edinburgh đđ
MASTERLIST
"Omg!" Your eyebrows furrow as you stare at the message from your sister, her excitement practically radiating through the screen. Without hesitation, you tap on the link she attached. It directs you to a fresh, two-minute interview of your boyfriend, Drew, from the red carpet premiere of Queer. The video had been posted mere minutes ago, and your curiosity piqued as you hit play.
The clip begins with Drew stepping confidently into the spotlight, his tailored black suit fitting him perfectly, exuding effortless charm. His neatly styled hair and sharp features gleamed under the intense glow of the camera flashes. Seeing him like thisâa star in every sense of the wordâmade you pause, a proud smile spreading across your lips.
The interviewer, a charismatic host with a warm smile and infectious energy, introduces Drew before diving straight into the conversation. Her tone is laced with both admiration and curiosity. âDrew, youâve been receiving such incredible praise for your performance in Queer. Tell us, how was the filming process? What was it like working on such a powerful project?â
Drewâs face lights up, his passion evident as he responds. âOh, it was an amazing experience,â he begins, his deep, smooth voice carrying a sincerity that draws you in. âGetting the chance to work under Lucaâs direction and alongside Daniel was an absolute honour. The cast and crew brought so much energy to the setâit really felt like a family by the end of it.â
He pauses briefly, a soft smile gracing his lips, before adding something that makes your breath catch. âWhat made it even more special was having my family visit during filming. And my girlfriendâŚâ His eyes momentarily shift, a small but noticeable fondness in his expression. âShe took some time off from university to spend a couple of months with me on set in Italy. That support meant the world to me.â
Your heart swells with warmth, a mix of pride and affection bubbling to the surface. Drew rarely spoke about his personal life publicly, but when he did, it was always with the kind of sincerity that made you feel like the luckiest person alive. Those two months in Italy had been unforgettable, the perfect escape from the stress of your law studies at Yale.
The interviewer lets out an audible gasp, clearly surprised by Drewâs candid revelation. âWait, you have a girlfriend? This is definitely news to us.â Drew chuckles softly, nodding. âI do. Sheâs brilliant. Balancing law school while putting up with me canât be easy and honestly, I think she's out of my league.â Drew chuckles. Who is this mystery woman? How could someone possibly be out of Drewâs league?
The mystery only fuels the frenzy, and it doesnât take long for determined fans to track down your Instagram account. Your page, once a space where you documented your life, was now flooded with notifications. Followers pour in by the thousands, combing through your posts for any clue about your connection to Drew. Fans are both shocked and delighted. Youâre not what they expected, but in the best way.

Between The Lines
Summary-> It's the little things that go on behind the scenes between you and Drew that makes your chemistry electric.
Belongs to my: OBX Season 5: Payback for Maybank Series
These can be read in any order!
"Park place." Maddison narrates where Drew lands his dog piece across the monopoly board. "I'll buy it." He says but your hand is in his face, "Not so fast. I'm sure you would love to buy it if I didn't already have a hotel on it. You owe me $1500. Pay up." You show him your open palm, ready for lots and lots of cash.
"He's so cooked. Look at that pathetic stack of cash Drew has. I've got piggy banks with more than that." Jonathan's comments send the four of you erupting into a fit of laughter which eventually dies down to a patient silence. "Sometime today would be great." Madison clears her throat.
"Josh is coming!" Drew points, appealing to your gullibility and you all fell for it. By the time you realized he was bluffing, the board was tossed and the pieces were all out of place. He gets up and runs off as if he already knew you'd be hot on his heels.
Your outburts left JD and Madison alone to pick up the pieces, but not without an interesting conversation. "50 bucks they're together by the time we finish the season." Madison says it so casually as she reaches underneath the couch for the pieces.
"So I'm not crazy? You see it too?" He looks almost relieved. "Trust me, I've got a knack for these things." JD seems skeptical about the timeline of the bet. "I dunno, we finish filming in four months. That might be too soon, I say by the premiere."
The both of them look up to Carlacia who seemed to have been streaming live on her istagram. She enters the room mumbling something about getting winded by you and Drew sprinting past her.
Madison scoffs, "That's like nine months from now. They could get together and break up by then, but you know what-- If that's what you wanna bet, then be my guest." She holds out her hand and JD shakes on it. "You're on."
"We're ready for you guys." One of the assistants notifys them that it was time to head to the screening room where the weekly table reads were held.
Today would be your first look at the script for the second episode, and to say you were shocked was an understatement.
Script Summary:
Eventually the pogues put their trust in Piper and she gives them a fair exchange of some arms that they can handle, while she opts for her weapon of choice, a steel pipe.
"How do you think I got the name and the scar?" She says and it puts an odd sense of comfort among the group, minus a skeptical Rafe, to know you were confident enough in your skills that you didn't need a gun.
They beleived they were in good hands, until they realized they weren't. There was movement coming from the bushes and it made the pogues stand on guard, beckoning them to come out. Soon, the figures finally revealed themsleves. More mercenaries.
"Nicely, done Piper. It seems you can still make yourself useful after all." The red-headed woman speaks up, tossing you a pouch of money that you caught with one hand effortlessly.
"Never doubt my capabilities, it's insulting." You warn, tucking the pouch into the bag strapped across your back. The british woman continues, "Y'know, Mr. Finch could use your talents again. Once we're done tying up loose ends, we're headed back to home base in Lisbon."
Rafe is livid. He knew he couldn't trust you. It couldn't be by pure coincidence that the mercenaries popped up in the middle of this oasis when you were leading. "Lisbon? You told us Finch was here-" Kiara exclaims and Rafe interrupts.
"It was all a lie, from the very beginning. Mr. Alami, the merchant from Agapenta, he was working with you, wasn't he? You knew he'd send us to you, and now you got your sad little payout from these dipshits for bringing us to them." Rafe seethes.
"I'll neither confirm nor deny that claim, love the enthusiasm though." Your attitude remains unbothered throughout the ordeal until Pope demands, "What do you want from us? We don't have the crown! Groff took it." The red head shrugs casually, sharpening her blades as she approaches the group.
"Don't you worry, Groff will get what's coming to him. For now, it's time to repay the debt that is owed. You get blood on your hands, I get blood on mine." Your eyes bulge, "Hang on, you never said you wanted to kill them." You step in and the woman pays you no mind.
"Perhaps because It's none of your concern. You've got your cut, now's a good time as ever to leave. It's about to get messy." She retracts her hand, about to plunge the blade into Pope when she's knocked out cold by a flying piece of steel.
The group looks over to you in shock, fear, and a hint of gratitude, but there's no time to gush about it when there's suddenly a brawl that breaks out between the mercenaries and the pogues.
You all hardly take them out before escaping.
"Piper, what the hell?!" John B yells and his anger is heavily agreed on in the group, you take it on the chin before offering the most sincere apology you could come up with. They're unconvinced. "I deserve that. Everything you heard back there is true. Finch's Fortress is in Lisbon. If you find him, you'll find Groff," You trail off, reaching into your bag, handing Cleo the pouch of money you'd just gotten.
"Take this. It's more than enough to get you a boat big enough to get across the atlantic and even have some leftover for food for a few days. When you arrive on the coast of Cascais, you'll need to head north in-land."
There's silence.
A long silence, nervous glances between the pogues and Rafe's eyes roll. "You guys cannot seriously be considering trusting her. She almost had us killed! Am I the only one who cares about making it back home?"
"Just shut up, Rafe!" John B silences him, and Pope speaks up. "Listen, I don't know about you guys but Piper just saved my life when she didn't have to. We've already lost someone. Going after Groff could be a suicide missison for all we know. But we all know this isn't about our safety, it's about revenge. For JJ." His speech is moving, the expressions agree.
"For JJ." They all agree.
"To Lisbon we go." Cleo chimes, and the group moves on.
End of Script*
You had just finished reading the script and you were blown away. The cast never knows what to expect whenevfer a new script is dropped in front of them.
"Wait a minute... If the pogues are going to Lisbon in the next episode then," Madison trails off and the director ties in, "So are we. Pack your bags, flights are booked for Saturday morning at 5am, please do not miss these flights, we're not opposed to writing you out!" Josh jokes and there's excited and shock all around the table.
You knew that the last season of the show had implied that the pogues would be on their way to Lisbon but it never dawned on you that it would be so soon, even though it made sense.
"You ever been to Portugal?" Drew leans in, a soft whisper in your ear tickled your skin and made the hairs on the back of your neck at attention. "Never, have you?" He thinks about it, "If a layover counts then yes, yes I have." You're not sure if the joke was funny or if it just left the mouth of an incredibly attractive man, nonetheless, it made you giggle.
Madison kicks JD from under the table, jutting her chin towards the two of you giggling in secret and he rolls his eyes. "Patience." He says it calmly, but Madison is impatient, she knows she'll reign triumphant by the end of it all.
-
Itâs a Friday nightâor, more accurately, the early hours of Saturday morning. The world outside your accommodations complex is still cloaked in sleep, and you should be too. But no. The responsibility of making your flight in two hours has ripped you from the warmth of your bed. Groggy but determined, you scrambled to gather your belongings, knowing you wouldnât be back.
After a last sweep of the room, you opened the door with a flicker of confidenceâonly to jump at the sight of a six-foot-two figure standing in your doorway.
âDrew! Oh my god, you scared me.â Your hand flew to your chest in a theatrical gesture, your pulse thrumming in your ears.
A small smile tugged at his lips, his eyes crinkling slightly. âSorry. Just wanted to make sure you were actually up. Everyone else already left. Thereâs one driver still waiting downstairs.â His voice was smooth, annoyingly easy to listen to this early in the morning. Too easy.
âYou sound oddly refreshed for 3 a.m.,â you quipped, your own voice still husky from sleep as you grabbed your suitcase.
âThatâs the beauty of insomnia.â He shrugged, gesturing to his temples with a finger like it was some kind of genius life hack. âYou canât wake up tired if you never really sleep.â
The elevator dinged open, and the two of you stepped inside. The silence that settled was heavy, charged with something you couldnât quite define. It hung there until you both spoke at once:
âSo where are youââ âHow did youââ
You broke into quiet laughter, and Drewâs mouth twitched with amusement. âYou first,â he said, giving you a slight nod.
âHow did you know I hadnât already left with the others?â you asked, tilting your head curiously. For a moment, something flickered across his faceâan emotion too quick to nameâbefore a light blush dusted his cheeks. He masked it with an easy tone.
âI did some askin' around,â he replied, the answer short and almost vague. It was just enough to spark your teasing instincts.
âAh,â you said with a smirk, âso you missed me?â
Instant regret settled within you. The elevator seemed too small, too still as Drew turned to look at you, his gaze steady and disarming. For a heartbeat, he didnât respond, and your cheeks grew warm under his stare.
âYou could say that,â he finally said, the ghost of a smirk curling the corner of his lips. His attention shifted to the elevator doors as they slid open, leaving you to wonder if youâd imagined the whole thing.
The ride to the airport was longer than expected thanks to roadwork that forced a detour. You should've been annoyed, but at some point, your head found its way to Drewâs shoulder, and your eyes fluttered shut. The fabric of his hoodie was soft against your temple, and his warmth lulled you into a half-dream state.
Drew didnât dare move. The weight of your head against him was almost too perfect, and he fought the sudden urge to reach for your hand resting on your lap. Instead, he focused on the ticking clock in the back of his mind and the quiet hum of the car.
When you arrived, he sprang into action. âCâmon, we donât have time to waste,â he murmured, grabbing your suitcase and his carry-on in one hand while ushering you toward the terminal with the other.
You barely had to lift a finger. Drew handled everythingâtickets, baggage check, even navigating customsâwith practiced efficiency, his jaw set and his movements quick. He wasnât just organized; he was determined.
âDo you always walk as fast as a drill sergeant?â you teased as you reached the gate, breathing a little easier now.
He shot you a look, his lips twitching. âI'm not a huge fan of being late,â was all he said. But the way his eyes lingered on yours for half a second longer than necessary told you there was more to it than that.
Finally, you made it to your seats in first class. You settled across the aisle from Madelyn, who flashed you a bright smile.
âI was starting to think you two wouldnât make it,â she teased, leaning toward you with a glint in her eye. There was an underlying subtext to her words but you were too tired to decipher it.
âDrew made sure that didnât happen,â you replied with a soft laugh. The words were simple, but they carried a warmth you couldnât quite suppress.
From behind your seat, Drew caught the sound of his name on your lips--and god did he love the way it sounds. He didnât know what youâd said, but it didnât matter. The fact that you were talking about him stirred something in his chest.
As the flight began, you glanced back once, meeting his gaze. He held it for a fraction of a moment before looking away, his expression unreadable.
And yet, for the rest of the flight, he couldnât stop thinking about you. Couldnât stop replaying the memory of the weight of your head on his shoulderâor wondering what it might feel like to hold your hand in his.

Hey, I hope youâre having a good day! I had an idea, Marvel cast flirting with y/n for x minutes?

. . MARVEL CAST FLIRTING WITH Y/N Y/L/N FOR 10 MINUTES STRAIGHT!
part 2 / part 3
Coming home from an extremely long and stressful day/week was unfortunately something very familiar to youâso familiar that you and your best friend (your not famous best friend who was your pilar through all the chaos fame brought) had created a little routine; sheâd send you various videos and links to movies and online books she knew would relax and amuse you.
So, cuddled up in your bed with your pyjamas and your star lights on (a true child at heart, always) you opened up your chats with them and eagerly swiped to see that theyâd sent.
âMarvel Cast Flirting with Y/N Y/L/N For 10 Minutes Straight!â was the video for tonight.
Immediately you cackled to yourself, hurriedly sending your best friend thanks in the form of ironic emojis and frantic proclamations of undying love, before loading up the (true to prior word) ten minute long video.
Surely this was an exaggeration.
The video began, large letters in a cute font appearing on the dark screen âthe marvel cast all being in love flirting with y/n for ten minutesâ. The quick âAS THEY SHOULDâ before the clips started playing made you giggle to yourself.
The first clip was from some years back, you were pretty sure this was a premiere for The Avengers, given how you looked and the qualityâyou were standing opposite on interview, smile on your face and dressed in a pretty outfit the same colour of your characterâs aesthetic.
âHow do you feel about your costume?â
Before you could even answer the interviews question, Scarlett intercepted your interviewâhair in a short red bob and a smirking grin at her lips as she wrapped an arm around your waist.
âWell I know how we all feel about this ladies costume, itâs a beautiful piece that just makes the women wearing all the more beautiful. If thatâs even possible.â
The edit quickly gave Scarlett beating heart eyes for you as she didnât tear her eyes away from you for a secondâmaking present time you laugh.
With that she kissed your cheek, leaving a red mark of her lipstick and walked away, dramatically winking in your direction.
The second clip was a blooper, from .. Captain America: Civil War, you thought. You were on Sebastianâs shoulders, thighs locked over his headâin character, as your character and his were mid fight.
He stumbled back over a table accidentally and you let out a startled yelp, hands flying to steady yourself in his long hair and one of his landing on your arse cheek to steady you as he steadied himself with the other.
âIs it bad that Iâm loving this?â
âSEBAââ
âCut!â
The third clip was you and Lizzie (Elizabeth Olsen) reacting fan tweets; Lizzie unrolled the piece of paper, her eyes lighting up as she giggled with a little smirk.
Elizabeth. .â You wearily trailed off, looking at your friend.
âSorry, sorry. Okay! This tweet says if i could just pretty BEEP please with the juiciest most mouthwatering cherry on top get a not kid friendly scene of Wanda and (Your Character) I could die peacefully, my wish fulfilled. I implore you marvel, listen to your dying fan.â
âThat tweet had over fifty thousand likes as well.â A feminine voice added in from behind the camera, laughter in her tone.
You and Lizzie turned to each other at the same time, grinning.
âI mean the fan is dying babe. .â
âRight? We should totally make this happen, like, totally.â She gave you a cheeky once over, eyes appreciating all of you. âBecause it was the fans wish, not mine, duh.â Lizzie added.
âMhm.â You hummed with a smirk.
The fourth clip was a evidently some sort of âguess the body partâ game: a photo of what you were pretty sure was your bottom half was the picture currently used for guessing, in the picture you were leaned over in a pair of yoga pants and in your personal opinion, you looked good. Well, your arse looked good (amazing, otherworldlyâyou humbly added)
Lizzie was the first person to answer, the video showing each persons turn one by one and immediately she said, âthatâs my girl. Y/N.â Then giggling she added, ânow get my girls booty off the screen, I donât need you all ogling her. We get enough of that, sometimes causes a strain on us. But weâve remained strong together.â
Paul Rudd was next and he stared at the picture of you for a few solid seconds, âitâs Y/N.â He sheepishly admitted. He pointed an accusing finger dramatically towards the cameraââI only know this because of all the edits you guys make!â
âYou donât have to watch them.â The interviewer pointed out innocently; Paul pouted, grumbling.
Next was Anthony who instantly answered, âThatâs Y/N right here!â He hyped you up, grinning. âDonât even try and make it creepy, we do glutes together man, itâs why weâre the best asses in the cast. Up top!â Anthony exclaimed, holding his hand up towards the picture as if pretending to high five you or somethingâthe interviewer timidly gave him a high five.
Sebastian was next as you (and everyone) watch his eyes flicker and grin that was more of a smirk spread across his cheeks, âthatâs definitely y/n.â He assumed instantly. âWouldâve been able to tell you that blindfolded.â
âButââ
âIâd have just sensed her.â Sebastian giggled.
Chris Evans was nextâa grin picked up on his face immediately, eyes trained on the photo of you and he ran a hand over his beard, lightly biting his lip (HEELLLOOO????)
âThatâs Y/n.â Chris stated confidently, smirking lightly and the camera caught some of the team in line of sight exchange raised eyebrows.
The fifth clip was of Brie Larson who was being interviewed on some sort of premiere event againâpresumably or her (marvellous) movie, Captain Marvel, smiling at the interviewer.
âOut of all of the people on the Marvel Cast, those who youâve met, do you have a favourite out of them?â The interview questioned.
âIâm not really one for favourites but I would definitely say Iâm closest to Y/n! Sheâsâsheâs just so lovely and funny and sheâs like a ray of sunshine, honestly. Sheâs been a great help in the filming process as well, she coached me through everything with so patienceâI wouldâve strangled me if I was her, but no, she just had that adorable smile on her face. Sheâs truly an amazing person and a better friend than I thought possible.â Brie answered enthusiastically with a soft smile.
âAwwww! We love to hear thatâare any of the rumours about her true?â
Brie blinked, seeming taken aback for a brief momentâ âYes she does smell amazing, sheâs always effortlessly beautiful, sheâs unfailingly hilarious and yes no one in this world deserves her. But like. . if sheâs open to it,â Brie paused, winking at the camera and making a call me sign with her hands and mouthing the words with a flirty grin.
The sixth clip was of you, Tom Holland, RDJ, Paul Bettany, Zoe Saldana and Pom Klementieff on Jimmy Kimmel, tasked with drawing your characters. The clip started just as you turned around the drawing of your character and well, it was actually surprisingly good in your own opinionâthe audience immediately erupted into loud and obnoxious cheers.
âAs great as that is, love, it still doenst capture the extent of your beauty.â Tom Holland, who was sat to your left, grinned cheekily at you and the audience practically shouted and hooted.
âWould anything ever?â Zoe shot back from your right side, twirling a lock of your hair affectionately and smiling as she leaned against you.
âI sincerely doubt that anything could.â RDJ piped up, giving you an unapologetic grin when you looked over at him with fond exasperation as the crowd was practically inconsolable in their glee and enthusiasm, shouting out your praises. âGive it up for sunshine, people. Our gorgeous ray of sunshine!â
âIââ
âThey are quite right, Y/n.â Paul Bettany spoke over Jimmy who was obviously going to try and calm down his crowd.
The seventh clip started playing: it was a clip taken from Jacob Batalonâs story, clearly in a party settingâthe video showed you and Zendaya in the centre of the dance floor, everyone around you clearly watching you both as you danced up against each other to the sounds of Yeah! by Usher.
âMate I think your girls about to be stole.â The voice of Tomâs friend, Harrison, sounded from beside Jacob and presumably Tom himself and to empathise Harrisonâs words, Jacob zoomed in on your faces, wide grins of ecstasy, and the way Zendaya was admiring you.
âRight in public as well, the scandal.â Jacob cackled.
The eighth clip was an interview of Chris Evans and McKenna Grace (you adored that little girl to pieces). The two of them were answering the âWebs Most Searched Questionâsâ together.
âWho was.. Chris Evans, date at the Oscars?â
McKenna immediately ooed, smiling teasingly and Chris laughed from beside her.
âThis is getting juicy!â
âWell, it was my mom one year and then my sister last yearââ
âHe wishes it was Y/n though.â The little girl laughed with a beaming smile on her lips and you, present time, arched a brow.
Chris bashfully chuckled with a smile and you swore you could see a genuine red hue on his cheeks, âI meanâitâs Y/n. Anyone would be happy to go with her.â
âI would be!â McKenna excitedly exclaimed as she grinned so sweetly you were now going to make sure you took this sweet child with you to the Oscarâs, Chris seemed to melt as well, recovering from his brief flustered moment.
The ninth clip was Sebastian and Anthony reading out their thirst tweets in a Buzzfeed interview, the clip started as Sebastian was pulling out a tweet from the large bucket.
He read it to himself and blushed faintly, Anthonyâs eyebrows practically reaching his forehead as he tried to lean over and read it but Sebastian jokingly shoved him back.
âOh forâThat scene where (Your Character) chokes baby Bucky out with her thighs, hisâhis head all up in there; the shit I would give to be her, I would give my soul, my fridge, my moms purse, my dads golf clubs. Please, sir. Put your face between my legs like you did Y/n.â
By the end of the tweet, Sebastian had a deeply awkward and slightly perturbed look on his face and Anthony cackled at his side.
âNah, Iâm pretty sure he was more than happy with it being Y/n, wouldnât change it even for your dads golf clubs.â Anthony laughed.
âThatâs. . Iâm gonna have to decline that, um, respectfully.â Sebastian spoke in regards to the tweet, ignoring Anthony.
In turn, Anthony ignored Sebastian as well and just dramatically kept winking at the camera.
The tenth clip was Cobie Smulders, who was being interviewed on some sort of carpet event, smile on her face as she spoke to the interviewer before her.
âHow does it feel knowing that the lesbian community, myself included, are firmly rooting for your character, Maria and Y/Nâs character (Your Character) to end up together?â
Cobieâs smile turned genuinely delighted, âI love itâwe love it. Y/n and I actually have made so many PowerPoints and presented them to the Russo brothers, but alas. I do really want to end up with herâoops, sorry, wait. I really want my character to end with hers. . would be the appropriate wording. But Iâm all for inappropriate if Y/n wants.â
Cobie jokingly bit her lip at the camera and you, watching the video, could not contain your laughter as the interviewer practically burst out with excitement.
The eleventh clip was a blooper from your filming of the avengersâyou were standing next to Chris Hemsworth who had an arm around your waist, holding you to him as in the scene his character, Thor, flies the both of you away. But Chris quickly tugged you in front of him and began tickling you mercilessly, hysterical giggles falling from your lips as the people around you laughed as well.
âChris, HAVE MERCY!â
âAw, but I enjoy hearing your laughter. Itâs a very pretty sound.â Chris laughed to himself, finally stopping his attack and letting you slump against his, back to his front. âI particularly like this as well.â He smirked down at you.
âCHRIââ
In the twelfth clip, you and Tessa Thompson were reading out thirst tweets together: âThe feminine urge to fall asleep cuddled into Y/nâs boobs is too real, pls come here mommy.â You read out, giggling all the while.
âThe urge is so strong.â Tess commented, nodding her add as she sneakily glanced at your chest with a innocent smile.
âCome here, baby.â You joked, laughing as you opened your arms for her and she practically leaped into them, resting her head on your chest.
âIâm living the dreams of millions right now and it feels amazing.â Tessa gloated jokingly, pulling away from you with only final squeeze and a little wink the camera caught.
âI concur.â You grinned back.
The thirteenth clip was you and Tom Hiddleston, talking with an interviewer on a carpet event. His arm was around your waist and both of you were wearing smiles greeting the interviewer.
âSo, obviously, you both act in marvel movies, but not really close together! If you could, would you want to work more closely and have you characters be more involved?â
âI absolutely would.â Tom immediately replied with an honest, heartwarming smile. âAnd personally, itâs not even a fact of our characters being intertwined itâs more that working this fantastic woman beside me is a gift I have come to deeply cherish, truly itâs an honour. And I suppose, if our characters were to get involved, so to speak, that I would enjoy that because this is the y/n y/l/n, Iâd be a mad man not to want that.â He finished charmingly.
You grinned, taking a bow, and both Tom and the interviewer laughed before that clip cut as well.
The fourteenth clip was at Comic-Con, mostly everyone on the cast had already been called out and taken their seats and then your name was called, the audience erupting into loud cheers.
Sebastian, who was sat next to your assigned seat, hopped and and jogged over to offer you his arm as you grinned and waved at everyoneâthe crowd screaming louder at his actions.
The screams only increased as Chris Evans and Don Cheadle got up to pull out your chair for you to sit down inâyou pretended to swoon into Sebastian before kissing all of their cheeks and taking your seat.
âWhere was the treatment for me?â RDJ joked.
âMan, theyâre just whipped. But, like, who isnât for Y/n?â Anthony stage whispered back to him and the crowd literally roared in excitement.
The fifteenth clip was Aaron Taylor-Johnson being interviewed with Lizzie for the Age of Ultron press, most probably.
âSo, Aaron, obviously your characterâspoilers, sorryâisnât with us anymore but if you had the chance to explore Pietro more, who would you have wanted to explore a romance with?â
â(Your Character) definitely, Y/N.â Aaron answered with a little sheepish grin at the speed and Lizzie giggled into her palm.
âIâm not making fun, I agree, for myself.â Lizzie commented unprompted.
âWhy is that?â The interviewer questioned.
âWhyâmate, I think itâs pretty obvious. Y/n is such a stunning person, inside and out, I would have loved toâand obviously her character is extremely sick and Iâm certain the relationship between her and Pietro wouldâve been the stuff of legends but. . come on, Y/n Y/l/n is my real reason.â Aaron joked.
âGet your own girl, sheâs mine.â Lizzie glared.
There were still many minutes left of the video left and that alone astounded you; overcome with cackles, you forwarded the video the your Marvel groupchatâso yall bitches like obsessed with me or sum đĽ°đĽ°đĽ°

just breathe. - pedro pascal.
requested! hope you like it, hun! - requested are open.
season 2 premiere of the last of us.
---
The car pulls up to the venue, the crowd already screaming. You can hear the muffled echoes even through the closed windows. Pedro shifts beside you, adjusting his jacket, then running his hand through his hair for what must be the fifth time in two minutes.
âYou okay?â you ask gently, resting your hand on his knee.
He nods, a little too fast. âYeah. I mean⌠yeah. Justâhavenât done something this big in a while.â
You offer him a small smile. âItâs just people who love your work. Youâre safe.â
He leans his head back against the seat and closes his eyes for a second. âI know. I justâI get this thing, like my chestâs too tight and I canât find the right version of myself to be. You know what I mean?â
You nod, squeezing his knee. âThen just be the one who texts me five times in a row asking if I want McDonaldâs or ramen.â
He laughs at that, the sound loosening something in your chest too. âYou love both equally, thatâs not fair.â
âExactly. So tonight, do what you can. Be as much of Pedro as you feel like being. And when you get tired, Iâll be right here.â
The car door opens, and the flashes begin. Pedro steps out first, then turns and reaches for your hand like muscle memory. You lace your fingers with his and step out into the noise, the lights, the chaos.
He smiles. Waves. Does the whole press dance. But you feel it before you see itâhis fingers start to tremble. His breathing turns shallow.
So you do what you always do.
You lean in, lips brushing just below his ear, and whisper, âBreathe with me.â
He doesnât answer, but you feel his hand grip yours tighter. You give a subtle nod, stepping slightly in front of him to deflect attention for a second. He breathes in, then out. Again. And again. And thenâheâs back. Standing tall, his fingers still laced with yours.
You both move down the carpet, pausing for photos. He glances at you once, and you mouth youâre okay. He mouths back thank you, and for the first time that evening, his smile feels real.
Later, inside the theater, while waiting for the screening to begin, he rests his head on your shoulder and murmurs, âI wouldâve bolted without you.â
âYou didnât,â you reply, threading your fingers through his curls. âYou were incredible. You always are.â
âSeriously, how do you always know?â
âBecause I love you. Because I see you.â
When you check your phone later, after the showâs ended and you're both in the backseat of the car againâPedroâs head against your thigh this time, completely worn outâyou notice Twitter has exploded.
âHis hand was shaking and she just knew. The way she leaned in?? Ugh, Iâm crying.â âThe way she grounded him and never let go⌠sheâs his safe place, Iâm sorry.â âYou can tell she helps with his anxiety without making a big deal about it. Sheâs just there.â âTheyâre like... soft soulmates. Iâm obsessed.â âSheâs so good for him. And he knows it.â
You show him one of the tweets, and he lets out a soft, sleepy laugh. âTheyâre right, you know.â
âOh, I know,â you tease.
He closes his eyes again, still smiling. âDonât leave.â
âNever.â
And with the chaos of the night behind you, all thatâs left is the warmth of his hand over yours, the calm that always finds him when youâre near.

"The studios thought they could handle a strike. They might end up sparking a revolution"
by Mary McNamara
"If you want to start a revolution, tell your workers youâd rather see them lose their homes than offer them fair wages. Then lecture them about how their âunrealisticâ demands are âdisruptiveâ to the industry, not to mention disturbing your revels at Versailles, er, Sun Valley.
Honestly, watching the studios turn one strike into two makes you wonder whether any of their executives have ever seen a movie or watched a television show. Scenes of rich overlords sipping Champagne and acting irritated while the crowd howls for bread rarely end well for the Champagne sippers.
This spring, it sometimes seemed like the Hollywood studios represented by the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers were actively itching for a writersâ strike. Speculations about why, exactly, ran the gamut: Perhaps it would save a little money in the short run and show the Writers Guild of America (perceived as cocky after its recent ability to force agents out of the packaging business) whoâs boss.
More obviously, it might secure the least costly compromise on issues like residuals payments and transparency about viewership.
But the 20,000 members of the WGA are not the only people who, having had their lives and livelihoods upended by the streaming model, want fair pay and assurances about the use of artificial intelligence, among other sticking points. The 160,000 members of the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists share many of the writersâ concerns. And recent unforced errors by studio executives, named and anonymous, have suddenly transformed a fight the studios were spoiling for into a public relations war they cannot win.
Even as SAG-AFTRA representatives were seeing a majority of their demands rejected despite a nearly unanimous strike vote, a Deadline story quoted unnamed executives detailing a strategy to bleed striking writers until they come crawling back.
Days later, when an actorsâ strike seemed imminent, Disney Chief Executive Bob Iger took time away from the Sun Valley Conference in Idaho not to offer compromise but to lecture. He told CNBCâs David Faber that the unionsâ refusal to help out the studios by taking a lesser deal is âvery disturbing to me.â
âThereâs a level of expectation that they have that is just not realistic,â Iger said. âAnd they are adding to the set of the challenges that this business is already facing that is, quite frankly, very disruptive.â
If Iger thought his attempt to exec-splain the situation would make actors think twice about walking out, he was very much mistaken. Instead, he handed SAG-AFTRA President Fran Drescher the perfect opportunity for the kind of speech usually shouted atop the barricades.
âWe are the victims here,â she said Thursday, marking the start of the actorsâ strike. âWe are being victimized by a very greedy entity. I am shocked by the way the people that we have been in business with are treating us. I cannot believe it, quite frankly: How far apart we are on so many things. How they plead poverty, that theyâre losing money left and right, when giving hundreds of millions of dollars to their CEOs. It is disgusting. Shame on them. They stand on the wrong side of history at this very moment.â
Cue the cascading strings of âLes Mis,â bolstered by images of the most famous people on the planet walking out in solidarity: the cast of âOppenheimerâ leaving the filmâs London premiere; the writers and cast of âThe X-Filesâ reuniting on the picket line.
A few days later, Barry Diller, chairman and senior executive of IAC and Expedia Group and a former Hollywood studio chief, suggested that studio executives and top-earning actors take a 25% pay cut to bring a quick end to the strikes and help prevent âthe collapse of the entire industry.â
When Diller is telling executives to take a pay cut to avoid destroying their industry, it is no longer a strike, or even two strikes. It is a last-ditch attempt to prevent le dĂŠluge.
Yes, during the 2007-08 writersâ strike, picketers yelled noncomplimentary things at executives as they entered their respective lots. (âWhat you earninâ, Chernin?â was popular at Fox, where Peter Chernin was chairman and chief executive.) But that was before social media made everything more immediate, incendiary and personal. (Even if they have never seen a movie or TV show, one would think that people heading up media companies would understand how media actually work.)
Even at the most heated moments of the last writersâ strike, executives like Chernin and Iger were seen as people who could be reasoned with â in part because most of the executives were running studios, not conglomerations, but mostly because the pay gap between executives and workers, in Hollywood and across the country, had not yet widened to the reprehensible chasm it has since.
Now, the massive eight- and nine-figure salaries of studio heads alongside photos of pitiably small residual checks are paraded across legacy and social media like historical illustrations of monarchs growing fat as their people starve. Proof that, no matter how loudly the studios claim otherwise, there is plenty of money to go around.
Topping that list is Warner Bros. Discovery Chief Executive Davd Zaslav. Having re-named HBO Max just Max and made cuts to the beloved Turner Classic Movies, among other unpopular moves, Zaslav has become a symbol of the cold-hearted, highly compensated executive that the writers and actors are railing against.
The ferocious criticism of individual executivesâ salaries has placed Hollywoodâs labor conflict at the center of the conversation about growing wealth disparities in the U.S., which stokes, if not causes, much of this countryâs political divisions. It also strengthens the solidarity among the WGA and SAG-AFTRA and with other groups, from hotel workers to UPS employees, in the midst of disputes during whatâs been called a âhot labor summer.â
Unfortunately, the heightened antagonism between studio executives and union members also appears to leave little room for the kind of one-on-one negotiation that helped end the 2007-08 writersâ strike. Igerâs provocative statement, and the backlash it provoked, would seem to eliminate him as a potential elder statesman who could work with both sides to help broker a deal.
Absent Diller and his âcut your damn salariesâ plan, there are few Hollywood figures with the kind of experience, reputation and relationships to fill the vacuum.
At this point, the only real solution has been offered by actor Mark Ruffalo, who recently suggested that workers seize the means of production by getting back into the indie business, which is difficult to imagine and not much help for those working in television.
Itâs the AMPTP that needs to heed Igerâs admonishment. At a time when the entertainment industry is going through so much disruption, two strikes is the last thing anyone needs, especially when the solution is so simple. If the studios donât want a full-blown revolution on their hands, theyâd be smart to give members of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA contracts they can live with."

@/ynln is live!
the viewers catch a little glimpse of your flushed cheeks, slow blinks, and lazy smile.
youâre not drunk, not at all, youâre just naturally an idiot and even more of one after a few after-party drinks. the remnants of laughter and lively conversation from the after-party of your premiere still lingering in your ears. the giddiness hadnât left your body at all.
âheyyy guys.â you fail to set up the camera on your hotel desk, so you resort to flopping onto the bed and holding it yourself. âi hope you all are well.â
the screen was filled with comments almost immediatelyâfans were sending love, compliments, and congratulating you on the new movie, and praising your looks during the premiere. your smile grew wider, your cheeks burned a little warmer than before.
@/lnloverrr: you looked so good at the event
@/yourstruly84: a look for the books
@/ynloops: so excited for the movie! canât wait to see more action roles from you!
@/tokkilvrr: celine queen!!! you rocked the top
âaww you guys are so cute,â you say, a little more giggly than usual. the only thing illuminating you at the moment is the city glow filtering through the curtains, so you turn on a lamp in order for your fans to see you better. âiâm so happy you guys are excited about the movie. it means a looot, really.â
you scrolled through the comments, answering a few questions about your favorite scenes to shoot and what the cast was like. you went on a whole ramble about your male co-star soobin and how you almost beat him in an arm wrestling battle after two shots, which led to another ramble about how rigorous the process of working out to achieve your physique was for this film. it was fun talking about all the fun behind-the-scenes moments, one of them being how you have a video of soobin tripping over the props, one which you will definitely be posting once the movie is out.
after skimming the comments a bit more, most of them being âcan i get an i love you?â or various compliments which keep a smile plastered on your face. but then one catches your eye, making you raise a brow: do you have a celebrity crush?
âoh, a celebrity crush? well i donât know if i have a crush, but more of a friend crush if you get what i mean.â you laughed, the sound light and loose. you pause, thinking it over as more comments pop up with heart emojis and people begging for an answer. you sigh playfully, leaning against the bedframe and blinking slowly again. âokay, this is going to sound so cheesy. you know how i like newjeans? iâve mentioned it before⌠but iâve been such a fan of newjeans since their debut. like, seriously, their music is always on repeat. iâve made soobin and the rest of the cast listen to them â soyeon loves them actually. ugh i loved their debut ep so much and then they dropped ditto andââ
@/koalaln: okay so⌠itâs someone from newjeans?
@/minjiplsmarrymepls: not my fav actor being a tokki
@/phammipham: girl if you donât tell us rnâŚ
âoh yeah, celebrity crush, right.â you chuckle after reading the comments again. you bit your lip before continuing, âwell, aside from newjeans being one of my favorite groups⌠theyâre all talented and beautiful, of course, but oh my god. danielle?â
your voice dropped to a more earnest tone as you looked right at the camera again, shaking your head and blushing a little. you could blame it on the alcohol.
âdanielle is probably one of the prettiest people iâve ever seen. her visuals are like, insane. like, she has this elegance to her, sheâs glowing, but sheâs also just really cute. iâve seen some of their interviews and sheâs so bright and bubbly and i just think sheâs so adorable andâ yeah. i love her energy.â you let out a small, tipsy laugh, not realizing how much you were ramblingâagain.
âand the thing is, weâre both ambassadors for celine too, so iâve seen her from afar at events and stuff. iâve never actually met her, which is crazy, right? i mean i've met park bogum but not her! youâd think we would have bumped into each other by now, but nope. i kind of just admire from afar, like her pictures donât do her justice but they⌠do? sheâs stunning in person, at least from afar.â
the comments started blowing up with people freaking out, sending a variety of emojis that you couldnât even count on both hands. they were saying things like âomg youâre totally fangirling right now,â âokay purr y/n is danielle biased she has taste,â and even âyou and danielle interacting or collaborating would be iconic.â
you blinked at the screen, noticing the way the chat kept mentioning her name. you rubbed your face with your hand, blinking hard again. âoh my god, am i talking too much? anyway!â you waved your hand, laughing as you tried to shake off the embarrassment creeping up your neck. ânext question, next question.â
you spent a few more minutes answering questions about your movie, sharing more stories of what happens on set (making sure to include how many times jaehyun fell asleep on set â which was far too often and in the most questionable positions. you wonder how someone falls asleep leaning against a wall). by the end, your eyelids were starting to droop, and the comments were still buzzing with your confession from earlier. you blinked again, then thanked the fans for their support once more to wrap up the livesteam.
âalright, iâm about to pass out,â you say tiredly, smile turning soft. âthank you for putting up with me. love you all so much.â
the phone in your hand dropped onto the bed after ending the livestream. your head lands on the pillows and you sigh, a grin still on your face. before you knew it, you were out like a light, blissfully unaware of what youâve just started.
â
the sun filtered through the hotel curtains, which warmed up the room. you stirred, eyes fluttering open as a ray hit you right in the eye, making you roll around the other way.Â
unfortunately for you, this wasnât the only thing trying to wake you up. your phone buzzed insistently next to you, and you reached for it blindly, squinting at the screen as your managerâs name flashed across it. you crinkled your brows, confused to say the least.
âhello? mark?â your voice was hoarse with sleep, tinged with last nights events.
âmorning sleepyhead,â markâs voice was calm and a little playful as always, but there was an unmistakable edge that meant business. âdo you want to tell me why youâre trending on every social media platform? and you even made it onto some entertainment sites.â
a groan slips from you as you sit up all too quickly. the memories of your late-night live stream start to flood back. âshit.â
ââshitâ is right. you do know that gushing about a girl in a kpop group â not to mention a very popular one â might get you a good amount of attention? and donât make a pun.â you hear his signature sigh from the other end of the line. âyour fans and her fans are going wild, and some press outlets are running with âactor y/nâs crush on danielle from newjeansâ headlines.â
shifting yourself to the edge of your bed so your feet can dangle off, you groan into the phone. âiâm so, so sorry. i mustâve fucked up my image like crazy, god iâm so sorry forââ
âhey, wait.â he says calmly. âitâs actually not doing anything harmful. if anything people are into how much you admire the group, considering youâre quite the celebrity.â
âoh thank godââ
âitâs just not low-profile.â
heat crept up your neck, and you covered your face with one hand, your back meeting the mattress again. âiâ yeah, i was tipsy. soobin is a terrible influence, and werenât youââ
âiâm just your manager, i just work here y/n.â
you scoff playfully at his remark, then continue, âi guess i didnât notice how much i talked about her. but itâs notâi mean, itâs not untrue, but stillâŚâ you trailed off, cringing at yourself as you placed a hand over your eyes.
mark lets out a sigh, softening a bit. âlook, itâs not the end of the world. just be prepared for questions, and try not to fan the flames further if you donât want this to become a bigger deal. but, you might want at least to have a statement or some kind of response ready.â
you nodded, even if he couldnât see you. âyeah, okay. thank you for the heads-up. sorry.â
âand next time, maybe donât go live after an after-party. donât think i didnât see you downing somaek with jennie.â he adds, the hint of amusement in his voice making you relax a bit.Â
ânoted. very much noted.â
after ending the call, you drop the phone beside you, your heart still thudding. with a deep breath, you opened twitter up, and just from your burner account you could see that you were trending. the timeline was overflowing: fans reacting to your confession, edits already circulating with your quotesâthey even managed to find every clip of you mentioning or listening to newjeans, putting it in slideshows and edited videos. you canât even lie, the effort is amazing. and even worse, or better? there were articles with headlines like âactor y/n admits to crushing on danielle from newjeansâ and âactor y/n confirms sheâs a hardcore newjeans fan.â
okay, hardcore might be a stretch.
(or maybe not.)
despite all this chaos, you couldnât help but smile a little. you tap a quick text to your manager again: sorry again. iâll be ready for whatever comes.Â
and another, more impulsive, and raw message to your group chat with your best friends and co-stars: i think i should just die. never going live again. someone needs to take my phone and burn it.
but as you scrolled and saw fans posting supportive, teasing comments like âwe love an honest crush!â ây/n is lowk so cute for thisâ âitâs so refreshing to see celebrities being transparent about who they admireâ and even a ây/n and danielle when??? y/nelle??â, you couldnât suppress the slight flutter in your chest.
â
in contrast to your morning, danielleâs wasnât all that stressful. maybe a little, but it didnât have her laying in bed for an hour and pondering over every life decision sheâs made. not like you did.Â
danielle had been making eggs for her members â sunny side up for hanni, boiled for minji, and scrambled for the haerin and hyein â humming quietly to herself. the morning was relatively peaceful until hanni burst into the kitchen, phone in her hand with a mischievous grin on her face.
âdani, you wonât believe this.â hanni plops down on a stool at the kitchen island, turning the phone over. âyouâre gonna want to see it.â
danielle raises an eyebrow, turning down the heat. âwhat is it?â
minji and haerin joined, peeking over hanniâs shoulder as she played the video clip. ây/n, you know, the one from that one coming of age movie you like? what was it⌠the one withâ it doesnât even matter. just look.â
danielleâs brows furrowed with confusion until hanni hits play. the room fills with the sound of your slurred, soft voice as you gush with genuine excitement.Â
âoh yeah, celebrity crush, right. well, aside from newjeans being one of my favorite groups⌠theyâre all talented and beautiful, of course, but oh my god. danielle?â
even minji and haerin gasp, looking at danielle in surprise. danielleâs jaw drops open slightly as she takes in the information: you, l/n y/n, are mentioning her. danielle marsh. but it gets even better.
âdanielle is probably one of the prettiest people iâve ever seen. her visuals are like, insane. like, she has this elegance to her, sheâs glowing, but sheâs also just really cute. iâve seen some of their interviews and sheâs so bright and bubbly and i just think sheâs so adorable andâ yeah. i love her energy.âÂ
the spoon danielle had been holding slips from her hand and onto the counter, clattering agains the marble as she stared at the screen. âwaitâ what?â her voice was barely above a whisper, her cheeks heating up.
âlook at you,â minji laughs, nudging her. âone of your admirers is an actorâa really popular actor, dani.â
âiââ danielleâs mind raced as she watched you on the screen, your eyes bright, cheeks flushed as you rambled on. the admiration in your tone made her heart skip a beat. it was one thing to know that you were at the same events as her, and another ot hear that youâd been paying attention to her. that you think sheâs pretty.Â
hyein seemed to pop out of nowhere, her arrival probably unnoticed from what was currently unfolding. âdani⌠someone who was in a marvel movie has a crush on you.â
danielle blinked. a smile broke out as she looked at her members. âyouâre all ridiculous.â but even as she laughed, the warmth in her chest lingered. the fact that you, the actress sheâd admired form afar and whose movies sheâs watched with her family, thought of her like thatâit was surreal.
minji raised an eyebrow knowingly. âcome on dani, donât act like you havenât been wanting to talk to her at those events.â
âyeah dude,â hanni nudged her younger member. âshe popped up in doctor strange and you started rambling about her.â
danielleâs smile turned shy as she rolled her eyes and turned back to the stove, her mind still replaying your words.Â
maybe sheâd muster up the courage to talk to you, just maybe.
â
youâve been busy, to say the least.
the past week youâve been interviewed a handful of times everyday. your movie starred the choi soobin and jeong jaehyun, which earned a lot of attention. what surprised you was just how much attention youâd receive. there were various edits of you being made, some even showed up on your social media and unfortunately your group chat.Â
people had dug up scenes of you from your other projects, editing them and helping them resurface. it was safe to say you were growing as an actor, as if confessing your âloveâ for danielle marsh didnât already do enough. but who were you to complain? this was great. you were rising in popularity for not only your looks, but also your talents and personality. it was endearing â flattering you beyond comprehension.
the rise in popularity even led to you having to hop on a flight to japan, not only to be interviewed further, but also for an event for the brand you ambassador.
the celine event had an air of sophistication and elegance. it was a sort of luxurious haven where celebrities and models mingled under the crystal chandeliers, surrounded by other âfancy stuffâ as you would say. soft music played, mixing in with the sound of conversations and clicks of cameras. attendees were showcasing the brandâs newest pieces for the season, with handbags being paraded, their metallic accents catching the light.
you fit quite well into the scene, it would be a lie to say you werenât one of the main events. there was an effortless style exuded from you, clad in tailored slacks that were held perfectly by a leather celine belt. draped over your frame was a crewneck sweater with the brandâs logo, and to finish off the look you had another leather piece on your shoulder: a matching handbag to go with your belt.Â
the first hour was spent smiling for the cameras and eavesdropping on the whispers about your recent rise in popularity. more cameras flashed, and journalists angled for a glimpse, but your focus soon shifted when an all too familiar figure stepped into view. maybe youâre overwhelmed, maybe itâs not her, there so many people here. at least thatâs what you told yourself.
once you got a breather, taking the time to roam around the area, you barely had a moment to process before a gentle bump jolted you out of your thoughts.
a woman, draped in a stunning beige dress accented with a sleek grey blazer, stumbled slightly. instinct kicked in, and your hand shot out to catch her arm, steadying her. wide yes met yours, surprise softening into a shy, grateful smile as she regained her balance.
âoh my, iâm so sorry!â she breaths out, her cheeks tinting a faint pink. âi didnât see you there.â
âare you okay?â you ask, your mind catching up to the moment. your gaze lingered as recognition fell over youÂ
danielle.
the feel of her arm in your grasp made your heart stutter, but you forced yourself to stay composed.Â
âyes, iâm fine, thanks,â danielle says, straightening up and tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear. âi never expected to bump into you. not like thisânot literally.â
your smile turns sheepish. âiâ i guess i made quite an impression,â you joke lightly, withdrawing your hand slowly.
her eyes light up with recogniition. âwell, the live from last week was more of one,â she teases, her tone warm and playful. the mention of the live made your face heat up, and a laugh bubbled out as you glanced at the floor for a second.
âyou sawâŚ?â you ask, rubbing the back of your neck.Â
âi think everyone did,â she giggled, her smile softening as she added, âit was... really sweet.â
the initial nervousness faded as the two of you fell into conversation, friendly and hesitant at first, but your words quickly became more confident as you both exchanged stories and thoughts on the celine events. compliments flowed naturally, and you found yourself surprised at how easy it was to talk to her beyond the admiration you held at a distance. danielle, on the other hand, grew noticeably more flustered as you threw in subtle flirtationsâquick grins, playful remarks about how she looked so much better up close and in person.
âwow, it wasnât the drinks that make you so⌠charming, huh?â she says with a small laugh, eyes shining as she tried to regain composure.
âwell, iâm finally getting the chance to talk to someone iâve been wanting to meet for a whike,â you admitted, voice soft and genuine. âi just wanted to be transparent, is that alright with you?â
âof course.â her smile turns bashful, and for a moment, silence settled between you two, comfy and warm. the lights dimmed as the models prepared for the runway, but neither of you paid it much attention even after being separated again.
after the showcase, you two found each other again, wanting to exchange numbers.Â
âthis is the first time iâve given a fan my number.â danielle admits jokingly as you type in your contact information. you look up from the phone and smirk, sending a weird shiver down danielleâs spine.
âreally? iâm honored.â you say, handing the phone back. âletâs talk soon, okay? iâd really love to be friends, and iâm really sorry for the whole livestream incident by the way. sorry again.â
she laughs, smiling at you and itâs really strange how it makes you feel all tingly.Â
âitâs alright y/n. would you like to hangout when weâre back in korea? if thatâs alright.â
âoh, yes, of course.â you smile at her once more before looking at the text from your manager: rideâs here, you ready? the notification earns a small sigh from you. you glance back at danielle and bite your lip to prevent a frown. âwell, iâll see you.â
âwonderful.â
â
when you think youâve had your peak of attention, it just seems to grow more and more.
the morning after the celine event your phone buzzed against the nightstand of your hotel, waking you up. squinting, you reached for it, the device cool against your fingers. notifications flooded your screen, but at this point thatâs nothing new. at the top, there was a teasing text from mark:
âlooks like you made quite the impression last night. maybe your live wasnât so bad for your social life, huh?â
curiosity piqued, you scrolled through social media, your eyes widening as countless photos of the event filled your feed. comments from fans were overwhelmingly supportive, celebrating the unexpected dynamic between you and danielle.Â
most of the photos were candid shotsâthe two of you caught in conversation, eyes bright with amusement, smiles soft and natural. the internet had already begun to label you as friends (which you didnât mind at all), though some comments and posts werenât so subtle as they implied something more, playfully shipping you two as a potential couple.
you rolled your eyes â it was ridiculous â you werenât even sure whether or not she liked girls like that. even if she did, the whole livestream⢠probably weirded her out. what you sought was friendship, but the ship posts did make you smile to yourself. maybe youâre just weird. you figured you needed to snap out of it.
unfortunately for you, more photos entertained the idea of something more than friends. in them, you were gently holding danielleâs wrist, steadying her as sheâd momentarily lost her balance that night. the angle caught the way her expression softened as she looked at you, an unguarded moment that felt oddly intimate, almost cinematic.Â
youâve acted in various romance scenes, but none of them were real. neither did any of them look as⌠jaw-dropping as this.
the caption on one post read: âthe way they look at each other⌠could this be the start of something?â the reactions were a mix of heart emojis, enthusiastic comments, and threads analyzing your body language and every nuance of the pictures. your cheeks warmed as you scrolled through, noticing how even the simplest gestures were being magnified and dissected as if this were an advanced art course.
you reread the text from your mark, smiling as you typed back a short light-hearted response:
âmaybe i should go live more often? hahaâ
even as you set your phone down, your mind replayed the moments from the night beforeâher laugh, the way conversation flowed effortlessly, and that brief touch that started to flood your mind.Â
you simply had a friend crush on her, nothing more, right? probably, you hope,
â
danielle pushes open the front door of the dorm, the familiar warmth and laughter of her members greeting her as she set down her bags. before she could make it further into the living room, hanni glanced up from her phone and smirked knowingly.
âlook whoâs back! how was the celine event?â hanniâs tone was casual, but her eyes glimmered with mischief.
danielleâs brows furrowed slightly, but before she could answer, hyein popped up from the couch, waving her phone in the air. âmore importantly, how was this?â she tapped on the screen, and a slideshow of photoâs appearedâthe ones that had been trending online. danielle, dressed up elgantly, smiling up at you as your hand was on her wrist, both your expressions open and genuine.
âoh, thatâŚâ danielle felt her cheeks warm. âit was nice. we talked a bit actually, y/n is really cool!â
âreally cool?â minji echoes from the kitchen, âthatâs a new one.â
âsheâs just a new friend i made who happens to be an actor,â danielle rushed out, even as a small uncertain flutter stirred in her chest. the words felt like they were only said to cover something up, but danielle couldnât pinpoint what it was that she was trying to hide. sheâd made new friends before, but none of them left her thinking about them the whole flight back home. she felt kind of restless in a way, but maybe thatâs because you had a different kind of charm and aspect to you.
âa new friend and actor who also has a celebrity crush on you?â minji asks.
âpeople have celebrity crushes and that doesnât mean anything, minji. besides, iâm not much of a celebrity to her anymore, am i? i mean weâve met properly now.â
hanni raises a brow at danielleâs comeback, exchanging a look with hyein, who giggles. âright, just an actor who has expressed her admiration for you in great depth. okay.â hanni draws out the last word, amused. danielle crosses her arms, feigning annoyance but feeling a heat creeping up her neck.
the group finally eases off, shrugging and returning to their own chatter, but danielle couldnât shake the lingering awareness. maybe it was just the newness of it all, youâre an actor, a very famous one now at least.Â
her eyes dart to the pictures on hyeinâs phone again. the moment you had caught her from stumbling was simple, just an instinctive touch, but there was something about it that replayed in her mind. it was confusingâthis new, unfamiliar feeling. she hadnât considered herself someone who might fall for a girl, and thereâs nothing wrong with girlâs liking⌠girls. but youâre not a girl that she likes, at least not romantically. youâre just really pretty and nice, and besides, she hasnât even gotten to know you on a deeper level.
still, sheâs spiralling a little.
â
y/n: hey :-) i just got back to my apartment it was nice bumping into you! let me know when youâre free? if youâd like to grab a bite or something of course youâre really pretty in person sorry, iâm fangirling haha
soobinâs top half of his face is on the top right corner of your phone as you stare at the screen. you sigh, cringing at each text youâve sent. soobin raises a brow at the sudden change in expression, plus the small pout on your face now.
âwhat now?â he questions.
âam i doing too much? what if she blocks me. what if i just dieââ
danielle: hi! i was watching a movie with the members hehe it was really nice meeting you! iâve been a fan of your projects i really liked your scene in doctor strange as well and in your recent film youâre a very good actor!
you literally drop your phone, earning a confused noise from soobin. when you pick it up again, heâs making a face that asks for more answers, but youâre too busy waiting for texts to pop up after her little typing bubble forms.
danielle: iâm booked tomorrow, how about the day after? you can pick the time and place đ
y/n: iâm busy tomorrow and the day after unfortunately đ how about in three days?
danielle: iâm free in the evening đ
y/n: thatâs perfect! canât wait
danielle: me neither âşď¸ i really enjoyed talking to you at the event
y/n: aw, thanks youâre really cute and sweet, danielle
danielle: im blushing stop!! hahaha iâll text you in the morning y/n đâ¤ď¸
y/n: okay!Â
soobin is still on call with you when you drop the phone on your bed again. he hears a the sound of your feet kicking against the bed and a small squeal.
âwhat?â he squints at the screen as you pick your phone up again.
âdanielle and i are hanging out on friday.â
he looks surprised as he says, âreally?â
âwhy do you sound so baffled⌠i can make friends soobinâŚâ you huff, pouting at him.
â
you exhale deeply as you look at yourself in the mirror. thereâs a green, long-sleeve comme des garcon top that you spent way too much money on hugging you just right, accentuating the build of your arms that you worked very hard for due to the new movie. custom-tailored denim fits your legs loosely, held by the same celine belt you wore at the thrilling event.
to hide your identity a bit more, you wore a beanie and a zip-up hoodie on top (another piece of clothing you spent way too much money on. you need to stop buying vintage exclusively), as well as some sunglasses.
you head out of your apartment, slip a mask on, and take the elevator down.Â
itâs been a while since youâve walked around and enjoyed the area you lived in, so you decided to walk to where you agreed to meet danielle: your favorite cafe.
it was a fifteen-minute walk, a quick five-minute bus ride, then five more minutes of walking until you reached your destination. when you get there, danielle is already sat at a table. you catch her checking her phone and smile to yourself.
âhey,â you greet, sitting in front of her. âdid you wait long?â
ânot at all,â she shakes her head, then looks down at her drink. âi just got a latte actually, i was going to text you earlier. ah! i shouldâve waited to buyââ
ânoâ no, itâs fine.â you assure, grinning. âiâll buy one myself and meet you back here, give me a minute.â
âright, of course.âÂ
you give her another small grin before ordering something simple: an almond latte. you waited only two minutes for it before heading back to danielle. after placing down your mug, danielle looks amazed at the tulip design, pulling out her phone and taking a picture. itâs cute, the gesture, and herâbut thatâs for you to keep to yourself.
you meet back with danielle, whoâs in the same booth by the window. the cafe was quaint and tucked into a quiet street corner, so there wasnât usually much attention or people. you really liked that aspect, considering your status, so it easily became your favorite spot.Â
and because there wasnât much going on, it was easy for danielle to be under some sort of spotlightâin this case itâs the autumn afternoon glow hitting her features. you remind yourself that this is just a platonic hangout, obviously. itâs not exactly a date, maybe a friend dateâbut the closer you got to her the more you started to question the âfriendly meet-up.â
âthis place is so cozy,â danielle says, glancing around as she took a sip of her latte. âthanks for suggesting it! iâve been so cooped up and busy, havenât had much time to go around. plus, itâs nice to be somewhere new.â
âi um, thought you would like itâŚâ you reply, stirring your coffee absentmindedly. âi mean i like it a lot. itâs my go-to spot, a little hidden gem when i first got to korea. itâs also really quiet at this time, so no chance of anyone recognizing us.â
danielle smiled at that, her cheeks warming. âi canât tell if thatâs comforting or more nerve-warcking.â
âis that so?â you tease, âafraid youâll be stuck with me if no one interrupts?â
she laughs, shaking her head. ânot exactly⌠i actually really like being here with you.â
you grinâa bit bashfully. âaw, iâm glad im here with you too. i still canât get over the fact that iâm with newjeansâ danielle.âÂ
she shakes her head, absentmindedly stirring her straw in her iced latte as she looks at you. " well, i hope that now⌠between us... i can just be danielle, even dani, if you prefer that.â
she gives you a shy smile before dropping her gaze to her coffee, and for a second you swear you saw a faint blush on her cheeks. maybe itâs the light.Â
âso,â she says, changing the subject, âis your schedule hectic these days? with what iâve seenâyou know, your promotionsâshooting for movies and events; i donât know how you do it.â
âsometimes i donât know either,â you chuckle, shrugging. âitâs worth it though. its kind of surrealâi used to watch your performances before i was this⌠known⌠and think, âwow, she must be busy,â but now i get it.â
ââreally?â danielle raises an eyebrow, looking genuinely intrigued.
âuhâyeah. not just you! i hope i donât sound weird⌠you know i used to watch all those celebrity interviews, korean and western artists, and i thought about my future being like that. um, anyways, yeahâyou and your members are super talented. i mean, obviously youâre killing it in every way possibleâÂ
danielleâs smile grows upon seeing the visible blush and how evidently flustered you are.
you sig heavily, âiâm not beating the fangirl allegations⌠sorry.â
she looks at you with a softness in her eyes, giggling before sipping on her drink. you noticed her cheeks were definitely tinged pink now.Â
âthatâs⌠really sweet. and, um, mutual. iâve been a fan of your acting for a while now, actually. so this is all still kinda unreal.â she admits.
you both fall into comfortable conversation, sharing stories about work and laughing about awkward encounters with fans and strange industry moments. you felt completely at ease, and danielleâs laughter was contagious, filling the air with something warm. the feeling lingered even as you two left the cafe together.
the walk back was leisurely, your voices blending as the city got louder.
âdo you get nervous though?â danielle asks after a while, pulling her jacket tighter against the breeze of the evening. âwith acting, i mean. especially with bigger roles. i hope itâs not awkward to ask but⌠you know, with romance films too.â
âi get that question a lot, itâs not weird at all dani.â you nod as danielle hides the growing smile after hearing her nickname slip from your lips. âiâm always nervous. but i think iâd worry more if i didnât feel like that, you know? it kind of keeps me on my feet, makes it feel real.â
she nods in understanding. âthat makes sense.â
âyou get it.â
as you neared her dorm building, a sense of bittersweetness crept in. the evening had gone by too fast, and you werenât quite ready for it to end. you stopped a few feet from the entrance, scanning the area to make sure no one was around.
âright, i guess weâre here,â you muttered under your breath, looking back at her with a nervous expression.
she gives you a forced smile, something bittersweet. âyeah.â
âiâll let you go now, i had a lot of fun.â
âme too.â
âyeah?â
âyeah.â danielle breathes out, her smile much more shy than before now. you catch her biting the inside of her lip just barelyÂ
her eyes sparkle a bit, the streetlight reflecting off her pupils. you gaze at her for a few seconds more before nodding. before you can start to walk away, she steps forward and wraps her arms around you in a warm, gentle hug. your breath catches, but you quickly relax and reciprocate. it seems natural, like you were meant to be this close.
âthank you for today,â she murmurs, voice barely audible.
âthank you for agreeing to hangout despite my⌠unorthodox impression.â you reply with a giggle, your voice just as soft. âiâm glad we did this.â
when she pulls back, you meet her gaze, faces just inches apart. she looks at your almost dazed expression, with your cheeks flushed and lips slightly parted. you quickly caught herself and laughed, trying to play it cool.
âalright, well, i guess iâll see you soon?â you say, shifting a little on your feet.
âyes,â she says, feeling her heart pounding a bit. âi hope we can do this again.â
danielle is a touchy person, this is visible on camera and to everyone she loves. still, it surprises you when she leaps back onto you, hugging you once more before slipping inside the building.Â
you waited until she was out of sight before turning away, unable to keep the grin off your face.
â
the next day, more specifically the next evening, you have an interview at six.
you, your costars soobin and jaehyun, are all caught in an interview. thereâs a white backdrop behind you all, with makeup artists adding final touches and shifting your hair. soobinâs in a simple cardigan and jeans, while jaehyun is wearing a sweater that compliments what soobin is wearing. you, on the other hand, are clad in something that makes you stand out more: metal frames, a blazer, and slacks.Â
the cameraâs start to roll, then the director gives you the green light.
the interviewer smiled warmly, leaning forward as he kicked off with, âso, congratulations on the movie! itâs been getting amazing reviews, and your performance as a supporting lead has been a major highlight. how does it feel to finally see it out in the world?â
you smiled, shifting in your seat. âhonestly, itâs surreal. we put so much work into this film, and seeing people connect with itâitâs the best feeling. iâm really grateful.â
âletâs talk about filming,â he continues, glancing between the three of you. âwhat were the hardest and most fun parts of being on set?â
soobin jumped in first, grinning. âhardest part? probably the weather during those outdoor scenes. we were freezing half the time.â
you nod in agreement. âoh, definitely. there was this one night shoot where we were all layered up between takes, but as soon as the cameras started rolling, we had to act like it was summer. my teeth were literally chattering.â
âand the most fun?â the interviewer asks, tilting his head.
âthe cast,â you said immediately, glancing at soobin and jaehyun. âwe had such a good time together, even during the long hours. there were so many inside jokes and random moments that just made everything easier. it really felt like a family. theyâre idiots, but i love them to death.â
âjaehyun, what about you?â the interviewer asked.
he chuckles. âfor me, it was watching these two try to improvise during that one diner scene. they were so into it, and the director was loving it, but the rest of us were just trying not to laugh.â
you groan playfully. âdonât remind me! that scene was so⌠chaotic.â
the interviewer laughs, clearly enjoying the dynamic between the three of you. âspeaking of scenes, do you have a favorite?â
âhmm,â you say, thinking. âi really loved the quieter moments, like the scene where my character finally opens up to soobinâs. it was just... really emotional and rewarding to film. looking over it really surprised how well acted-out it was.â
âand you two had such great chemistry,â he adds, raising an eyebrow knowingly. âfans are already talking about it. do you think that dynamic came naturally?â
you and soobin exchanged a look, and he smirked. âwell, you know, y/n and i are professionals.â
âoh, stop,â you push him lightly, rolling your eyes with a laugh. âsoobinâs great to work with, though. he made it really easy.â
âis that why youâre so good at teasing her?â jaehyun chimed in, earning a laugh from the room.
the interviewer leaned forward, suddenly switching gears. âspeaking of fans, y/n, people have been buzzing about your recent live stream. you mentioned being a fan of danielle from newjeans, right?â
you felt your cheeks warm, but you nod. âyeah, iâve been a fan of their music since debut. theyâre insanely talented.â
soobin, your wrost enemy, grins. âshe left out the part where she called danielle one of the prettiest people sheâs ever seen.â
âsoobin!â you protest, laughing but clearly embarrassed. âheâs just jealous that i talk to her more than he talks to bebe rexha.â you retort, earning a pout from soobin.
âsheâs not wrong,â jaehyun chimes with a teasing smile. âevery time her name comes up, y/n turns into a total fangirl.â
âokay, thatâs enough,â you said, trying to shut them down but laughing too hard to be serious. âlook, danielle is really sweet. weâve texted a bit, even met in person, and sheâs just as nice as she seems.â
the interviewer didnât miss a beat. âso, whatâs it like talking to someone youâve admired for so long?â
you hesitate for a moment, then smile. âitâs honestly been really cool. sheâs interesting and kind and just... really easy to talk to. and yeah, sheâs absolutely gorgeous, but thatâs probably not news to anyone. sheâs everything i ranted about in my infamous livestreamâŚâ
the room erupted in laughter, and soobin locked eyes with the camera. âdid you hear that, danielle? she thinks youâre gorgeous.â
you buried your face in your hands, groaning. âwhy did i agree to this interview?â
the interviewer grinned, clearly loving every second. âwell, it sounds like youâve made a great new friend. and who knows? maybe weâll see her at one of your premieres and not just the celine event someday.â
âmaybe,â you said with a shy smile, trying to brush it off. but deep down, the thought made your heart race.
the cast laughs, and so do you. the interviewer continues on, teasing soobin about his bloopers and viral photos. you tease him even more, considering it karma for him doing the same to you. and when you think you canât laugh anymore, they bring up jaehyunâs old films and roles, embarassing him just a bit as well.
â
the city lights blurred outside your taxi window as you leaned back, phone pressed to your ear. danielleâs soft laugh came through the line, making your stomach flip for reasons you didnât want to admit.
danielle decided to call you after your interview. when you asked why, she simply responded with a âwhy? do i need a reason to want to talk to you?â which only made your stomach twist more.
âso,â she began, voice playful, âyou survived the interview, huh? did your costars expose your secrets?â
you groaned dramatically. âthey did. they kept teasing me about⌠well, you.âÂ
âabout me?â her tone was teasing, but you could hear the hint of curiousity hidden in it.
âtheyâre relentless dani,â you mutter, though the smile on your face was obvious in your voice. ânext time, iâm dragging them into a live stream and making them go through public humiliation.â
she laughs again, light and airy. you lean against the window and smile harder. âyouâre quite dramatic, y/n. maybe they jus like pointing out the obvious~â
âthe obvious?â you ask, feigning innocence.
âyou know, ho wmuch you like me,â she teased, her words carrying something playful.
âoh shut up,â you groan again, laughing despite yourself. âiâm never live streaming again. youâve ruined me.â
âyouâre the one who brought me up in the first place,â she counters, tone smug. âdonât blame me for how smitten you are.â
âsmitten? rightâŚâ you shoot back. âsomeoneâs confident.â
âonly because you keep giving me reasons to,â she quipped, but there was a slight softness in her voice now, like the banter was more of a cover.Â
youâre impossible,â you say, shaking your head, your your smile only widened. you bite your bottom lip, twirling your hair ever so slightly. âbut youâre also probably exhausted. you should get some rest.â
âarenât you exhausted from the interview? i only had practiceâyouâre telling me to rest?â she teases, though her tone had softened further.
âiâm serious,â you say, voice queter now. âsleep tight, danielle.â
there was a pause on the other end, not awkward but lingering. âyou two,â she said eventually, her voice just as soft.
you both stayed on the line a moment longer, neither of you wanting to hang up. finall, you broke the silence.Â
âgoodnight.â
âgoodnight,â she echoed before the call ended, âstay safe.â
leaning your head back, you sigh, letting the giddiness settle in your chest. as the taxi pulled closer to your place, you decided to send her a pictureâyour post interview outfit, slightly rumpled, hair a bit messy, and a tired peace sign held up for the camera.
a moment later, her response popped up:
danielle:Â cute
your heart skipped, and then another text followed.
danielle:Â goodnight :-)
you stared at your screen for a long moment, grinning like an idiot, before typing back a quick ânight.â you tucked your phone away, feeling like you could float the rest of the way home.
â
âmorning?â you respond tiredly, leaning against your counter. âsomething up?â
he huffs, great.Â
âmorning? try good afternoon,â your managerâs voice came through, laced with exasperation. âwe have a situation.â
you already dreaded whatever was coming next. âare you serious?â
âi donât know how you do it.â
âwhat?â
âhow have you managed to go viral again? you and soobin this time: dating rumors.â he says.Â
âwhat?â you respond in disbelief, âme andâ me and that bitcâ me and soobin? thereâs absolutely no way.â
âthere are pictures from the interview yesterday going viral,â your manager explained. âpeople are assuming that you and soobin might have something going on.â
mark hears you make a disgusted noise through the phone. âwhy the hell would they think that?â
âapparently, you two were standing close, thereâs one of you leaning on him, and another where youâre laughing while nudging him. theyâre harmless, bit fans are running with it. despite your whole danielle thing, fans are running with this. boy and girl, girl and boyâyou know the gist, things run around faster and easier.
you groan, pinching the bridge of your nose. âthatâs so grossâheâs soobin. heâs like⌠a brother to me. and iâm a lesbian.â
âi know that, trust me. but the internet doesnât,â mark says dryly. âjust be careful. maybe you two can talk to each other, clear the air?â
âokay, okay. iâll talk to you later.â you muttered before hanging up.
you check out social media for a bit, looking at the pictures going around and furrow your brows at how platonic they look. a girl canât lean on her guy friend anymore? okay⌠right.
immediately, you pull up your contacts, scrolling to soobinâs name.
y/n: we have heterosexual allegations
not even a minute later, your phone buzzed with an incoming call. you answered, alreadying rolling your eyes. âsoob.â
âwe have straight allegations?â he questions, voice filed with disbelief, even despair. âgod, no. absolutely not⌠not you, especially.â
âthanks,â you deadpanned.
âyouâre welcome,â he quips, âbut seriously, what do we do? should we post something?â
âdefinitely. letâs make this clear before is spirals. people are already clipping us from other interviews and our scenes.â you say, standing up right. âiâll post something on my instagram: the pictures we took yesterday. iâll caption it something normal and you can just reply normally. simple fix, right?â
âperfect,â soobin agrees. âyou post it, and iâll repost. weâll just step on the fire.â
within minutes, you were typing out the caption, attaching a candid picture from the event of you two laughing together. once the post was live, you refreshed your feed, watching as likes and comments poured in. soobin reposted it immediately with a laughing emoji, and soon enough, the narrative started shifting.
you couldnât help but smile in relief as you saw comments like: âokay, but their friendship is so cute,â and âbest friends of the industry!â
you texted soobin one last time: crisis = over. lunch sometime this week?
his reply was instant: only if youâre paying.
â
danielle scrolled through her phone, her face buried in the pillow as she lay on her stomach. the soft glow of the screen illuminated the quiet room, the only sounds being her occasional sighs and the muffled hum of her members beyond her closed door.Â
twitter was like a battlefield, one she didnât fully understand. the pictures of you and soobin, paired with captions like ânew favorite couple?â and âlook at their chemistry!â made her chest feel heavy in a way she couldnât explain.
youâre just friends, she thought to herself. why do i even care?
yet, despite trying to brush it off, her fingers kept scrolling. she stared at the photos for longer than she wanted to admit, her stomach twisting uncomfortably. why did it feel like this? you werenât hers, youâre your own person.
you two have only gone out together once, spent time with each other maybe twice, and havenât really indulged in anything deeper. if anything it felt right that you and soobin were a thing, considering the chemistry she noticed in interviews and whatnot. still, she frowned, thinking there was something different between the two of you. especially the way you noticed and looked at her like no one had before.
a knock on the door broke her from her spiraling thoughts. before she could answer, haerin poked her head in.
âdanielle? are you okay? you havenât come out all morning.â
danielle quickly locked her phone, shoving it under her pillow. âiâm fine,â she lied, her voice muffled against the pillow.
haerin frowned, stepping inside and sitting at the edge of the bed. âyou donât seem fine.â she gently tugged at danielleâs arm. âwhatâs going on?â
danielle groaned but didnât resist when haerin pulled the pillow away. âitâs stupid,â she muttered.
âstupid or not, youâre clearly upset. tell me,â haerin pressed, her tone soft but firm.
danielle hesitated before finally mumbling, âi saw the rumors about y/n and soobin.â
haerin raised an eyebrow, confused. âokay? why does that bother you?â
âi donât know!â danielle sat up abruptly, running a hand through her hair. âit shouldnât. but seeing those pictures⌠it just⌠it made me feel weird. i donât like it, ugh!â
haerin tilted her head, studying danielle carefully. âweird how?â
danielle hugged her knees to her chest, avoiding haerinâs gaze. âlike... sad. but that doesnât make sense, right? i mean, she can date whoever she wants.â
realization dawned on haerinâs face, and she leaned closer. âdanielle... do you like y/n?â
danielle froze, her cheeks flushing. âwhat? no! i meanâŚâ she trailed off, her heart racing. did she?
haerin waited patiently, her expression calm.
âi donât know,â danielle admitted, her voice barely above a whisper. âiâve never felt like this before. and if i do⌠isnât it weird? liking a girl? iâve never done that before, iâve never really liked anyone period⌠but if i did i figured itâd be a guy. i mean i kind of always noticed the female celebrities more andâ oh my god, am i gay? i like girls⌠i think iâve always liked girls. why am i realizing so lateââ
haerinâs eyes softened. she reached out, placing a reassuring hand on danielleâs shoulder. âitâs not weird, danielle. itâs normal. liking someoneâboy or girlâdoesnât make you any different. it just makes you human. itâs fine, itâs no big deal. like who you like.â
danielle looked at haerin, her eyes wide and uncertain. âbut what if itâs not okay? what if i ruin things by feeling this way?â
haerin shook her head. âyouâre not ruining anything. feelings can be scary, especially when theyâre new. but you donât have to figure everything out right now. take your time, okay? and no matter what, iâm here for you. iâve been there, i think there are two others in the dorm that have been too.â
danielle nodded slowly, the weight in her chest lifting slightly. âthanks, haerin. i think⌠i just need some time to think.â
âof course, i understand,â haerin said with a small smile. âbut for now, letâs get you out of bed. youâre not going to figure anything out by hiding under the covers. maybe youâll think clearly after a bit of breakfastâbrunch.â
danielle chuckled softly, letting haerin pull her to her feet. though her heart still felt heavy, haerinâs words gave her a small sense of comfort. maybe, just maybe, everything would be okay.
 â
âno way am i spending that much on something iâll only wear once,â he said, putting a jacket back on the rack.
you two were in some pop-up store downtown, meandering through racks of high-end clothing. the smell of fresh leather and faint hints of something floral lingered in the air. music hummed in the air, some type of house playlist.Â
âyou could always expensive it as a âcostume pieceâ for another project.â you laugh, fingers brushing idly against the fabric of a blazer nearby.
âif only it worked like that,â he snorted, glancing at you. âspeaking of work, whenâs the next press event? arenât we supposed to fly out soon? thereâs too much on my plate⌠but itâs worse for jaehyun.â
ânext week,â you replied absentmindedly, your attention more on your phone than the clothes. the screen buzzed in your hand, and you glanced down immediately, eyes scanning the notification. it wasnât from danielle. you frowned slightly and slipped the phone back into your pocket.
âthatâs the third time youâve done that in five minutes,â soobin noted, a small grin on his lips. âlet me guessâwaiting for a certain someone to text? a certain singer~?â
your ears burned. âwhat? no. iâm justâi donât know, checking stuff. my um,â you cough, âmy momâŚâ
âchecking stuffâŚâ he repeated, his smirk growing. âyou are not slick. itâs danielle, isnât it? waiting for her?â
he laughs when you roll your eyes at him, then raises a brow when you donât deny it.
âyouâre so obvious.â he teases, nuding your shoulder. âitâs cute though. fangirl crush to⌠whatever this isââtext flirtationâ?â
âoh my god, you donât shut up do you?â you say, though the corner of your mouth twitches into a smile. before you could retort further, your phone buzzed againâwhen you check it this time, danielleâs name lit up on the screen. without hesitation, you step away and hold up a hand to soobin.
âhold that thought,â you say, walking a few feet away for some privacy.
âhey,â you greet, trying to keep your voice casual, though you couldnât stop the slight hint of excitement.
âhi,â her voice is soft through the phone, and you could hear the faint sound of city traffic in the background. âare you busy?â
âno, not at all,â you assure her. âiâm shopping with soobin. whatâs up?â
there was a brief pause on her end before she says, âi was wondering if youâd want to go on a walk tonight? itâs been a long day, and i though itâd be nice to⌠you know, just talk. ah! i hope you donât mind⌠i just⌠missed you. i know weâve hangout only a few times, but i really like your energy! oh god, iâm rambling arenât iââ
âiâd love that.â you smile into the phone, balancing your weight on one foot then the other. âthatâs perfect, yeah of course. donât worry about rambling⌠donât ever.â
âokay,â her tone lighter now. âwell, i have a shoot. iâll text you more details, okay?â
âperfect. iâll see you.â you say, feeling a little giddy as you hang up.Â
when you walked back over to soobin, he was leaning against a rack of coats, eyebrows raised knowingly.Â
âsomeone looks happy,â he teases, âlet me guessâdate?â
ânot a date,â you correct him, though the hear rising to your cheeks betrayed you. âjust a walk, you know.â
âthatâs gay.â he mutters, earning a shove. he smirks at you, then adds, âwell whatever helps you sleep at nightâeven if thatâs a âwalk.ââ
you shoved his shoulder again, but the smile lingered on your face. even as you tried to focus on the clothes in front of you, your thoughts were already elsewhere counting down the hours until tonight.
â
the riverside was serene, the water reflecting the city lights in the rippled patterns. the air was crisp but not biting, just how you like it. you spot danielle standing by the railing, her arms wrapped around herself as she gazed out over the water. her hair caught the light, framing her face in soft wavesâher natural hair always left you in aweâand for a moment, you just stood there taking in the sight.
âhey,â you call, breaking her reverie.
she turned, her face lighting up with a warm smile. âyou made it! hi.â
âof course. why would i miss it?â you say, stepping closer until you were side by side.
the two of you started walking, the rhythm of your steps syncing naturally. conversation came easily, as it always did with her. danielle talked about her schedule, how sheâd been trying to find a balance between work and rest. you shared bits about your own projects, the highs and lows of the past week and even something you might audition for.
âitâs a lot sometimes,â she admits, glancing at you. âbut i guess itâs just part of it, you know? the good things outweigh whatever is bad.â
you nod. âfor sure. but itâs okay to feel overwhelmed too. youâre doing amazing, though. seriously.â
she looks down, a shy smile tugging at her lips. âthanks. that means a lot.â
as the conversation flowed further, the distance between the two of you shrank until your shoulders brushed with each step. the contact was subtle, but it was the only thing you could think about. you were hyper-aware of the spaceâor lack thereofâbetween you. danielle didnât pull away, and neither did you.
a light breeze swept by, and you noticed her ears twitch. without thinking, you pulled your beanie off and held it out to her.Â
âhere,â you say, âitâs not much, but i think itâll help.â
âoh, no, itâs okay,â she starts, but you were already placing it gently over her head, adjusting it so it fit snugly.
âlooks good on you,â you admit, stepping back to admire her. âactually, you look better in it than i do. i might have to let you keep it.âÂ
she laughs softly, her cheeks pink from more than just the cold. âyouâre just saying that.â
âiâm not,â you reply, voice light but sincere. âtrust me.â
she looks at you for a moment, her eyes warm and searching before breaking into a smile. âthanks.â
you resumed walking, the easy conversation picking up again, but the air between you felt different nowâwarmer, closer.Â
as the night wore on, the city seemed to fade away, which left the two of you. your steps were in rhythm and your hearts quietly beat at the same time, to another rhythm that neither of you wanted to name.
the sound of leaves rustling fills the spaces between your conversation as you and danielle continued to walk along the riverside. the path was lit by lampposts, casting a soft light that made everything seem dreamlike. danielle, however, seemed distracted, her steps just a fraction slower than before.
âsoooo,â she begins, voice tentative. âi saw something earlier.âÂ
you turned your head to look at her, curious. âyeah? what was it?â
âpictures of you and soobin had been going around on twitter,â she says, glancing sideways at you. âpeople were⌠assuming things.â
it took you a second to realize what she meant, but when you did, you let out a short laugh. âoh, that. again?â
she nods. her expression remained the same as normal, but her hands fidgeted with the sleeves of her sweater. âyeah. you two seem close.â
âweâre realy close.â you say easily, not noticing the slight edge of hesitation in her tone. âbut not like that. soobinâs like⌠my brother? maybe a favorite cousin. itâs very platonic.â
her eyes darted up to meet yours, flickering with something unreadable. âoh,â she says softly, her voice a little brighter. âi guess that makes sense.â
you tilt your head, catching the faint shift in her demeanor. âbesides,â you added, a small smirk tugging at your lips, âiâm one hundred percent gay. women only.â
danielleâs steps faltered for a brief moment again, and you noticed the way her cheeks flushed under the streetlights. she recovered quickly though, and let out a small laugh. âoh. thatâs good to know.â
âyeah,â you nod and shove your hands into your pockets. âsoobinâs great, but absolutely not my type. not even close.âÂ
danielle chuckles, her gaze fixed ahead now. âwhen did you figure that out? you know, about being gay?â
you thought for a moment, the question catching you a little off guard but not unwelcome. âprobably when i was in high school,â you admitted. âi mean, i always kind of knew, but it really hit me when i found myself completely zoning out over this one girl in my art class. she was kind of like you, pretty and nice and sweet andââ you stopped yourself, âyeahâŚâ
danielle smiels, her curiosity evident now. âwas it hard? like, coming to terms with it?â
âit had its moments,â you say honestly. âi was scared at first, like, what people would think or how my family would react. but once i told myself it was okay to just... be myself, it got easier. and iâve been luckyâmy friends and family have been super supportive. itâs normal anyway⌠being infatuated, finding girls attractive, and,â you look at her a little closer now, âhaving crushes on girls.â
danielle nods, her gaze lingering on you a beat too long before she looks away. there was something⌠softer in her expression now, a quiet kind of admiration mixed with something else. you noticed the shift but didnât comment, not wanting to break the moment.
âthatâs nice,â she says finally, her voice quieter than before. âi think itâs brave.â
you shrugged, trying to play it off, but the sincerity in her tone made your chest tighten. âjust being honest, i guess.â
the conversation pauses, but the air between you felt warmer now, more intimate. danielleâs eyes flicker to you again, her expression thoughtful, and you couldnât help but feel like you were walking closerânot just in steps, but in something unspoken between you two.
âwhy do you ask, anyway?â you question.
âah, wellââ she completely short circuits, trying to find the right words. âthereâs, well, i think i um, i like someone. i donât know, well, i do.â
you raise a brow, looking at her confusingly.
and then it hits.
sheâs avoiding your gaze, fidgeting with her fingers, and the blush on her cheeks is apparent. itâs all apparent: sheâs asking you about liking girls, calling you when she can, texting you, complimenting youâit all makes sense now, everything leading up to it. and youâve been dropping hints too, but you never noticed hers.
âand whatâs this girl like? is she nice?â
âahâ well, itâsâ i donât know. sheâs really sweet, but anyway,â she tries to shift the conversation, but you butt in.
âiâve been kind of into this girl actually.â you admit, kicking a rock on the ground nervously.Â
âreally?â
you hum.
âwhat is she like?â danielle asks, glancing at you shyly now.
âwell,â you start, sucking in the courage to continue on. âsheâs really pretty, and i managed to get closer with her in just two months. i always had a little friend crush on her, but even so i always thought she was gorgeous.â
âis that so?â danielleâs cheeks flush a bit as the realization starts to hit. âwhat else?â
âwell, the more we got to know each other the more i found myself thinking of her late at night. sheâs easy to talk to and i really like that about her. iâm pretty into her, and i think a lot of people know it despite how much i try to deny it.â you shrug, looking at the ground. âum, w-what is your girl like? the girl you like.â
thereâs a smile on her face, one that would be impossible to wipe off.
âsheâs⌠sheâs really cute.â danielle says bashfully. âsheâs kind, funny, caring, and i kind of grew to like everything about her. i canât stop thinking about her and talking about her to my members, and when she posts or something about her goes viral i canât help but go a little crazy. she accidentally revealed her crush on me to a lot of people and i couldnât believe it, even now iâm unsureâŚâ
âwell i think she likes you a lot.â
âdo you?â
âmhm.â you stop in your tracks, watching danielle take a few steps before stopping. you two stare at each other for a bit, struggling to maintain eye contact. âi think sheâs been trying to ignore the fact that sheâs in love with you, but canât because youâre impossibly easy to fall in love with.â
danielle blushes, stepping closer and pushing your shoulder as she tries to compose herself.
âokay,â she mutters quietly, looking down at the ground. âdo you think she could close her eyes?â
âmaybe.â you nervously say as you close your eyes, huffing shakily.Â
danielle stares at you, features a little tenseâreally all of you is tenseâbefore leaning up a bit and pressing a chaste kiss to your cheek.Â
she pulls away, blushing furiously.Â
you open your eyes, blinking twice to make sure none of it is a dream. danielle stands in front of you, biting down on her teeth to try to keep herself from going insane. she looks away, scared and flustered all at the same time.
âdo you think she⌠do you think she liked that?â
you nod, âyeah, but she thinks you missed.â
âwhatââ
you cut her off, tilting her chin up and pressing a quick peck to her lips.Â
danielle gasps, then looks at you with widened eyes. seconds later she leans forward, meeting you in a longer kiss.Â
she melts a bit, your bottom lip trapped between hers as she slides her hand over to your neck. and when she pulls away, she hides her face near your ear.Â
âdid she, did she think that was okay? iâve never um, kissed a girl beforeâi havenât kissed anyone before.â
âi think she wants to kiss you again.â
danielle laughs, pulling away and cupping one of your cheeks with her hand. itâs small and soft and warm all at the same time against your burning skin. you smile as she brushes her thumb over, nodding.
âi think i want to kiss her again too.â

Ok. Iâm still trying to gather my thoughts and settle my hyperfixation after episode 3 of the Percy Jackson show, but one of my conclusions is that this is one of very few adaptations that actually understands the term âadaptationâ and furthermore what makes one successful.
On a fundamental level, understanding and respecting the source material is a must. You need to not just know the bullet points of the story, but you need to know the âwhyâsâ- why does this story need to be heard, why do people like it, why does it stand out from the others in itâs genre, etc.
Second, you need to deconstruct the source material and piece it back together in a way that makes sense for the new format. Copy-pasting almost never works, since there will inevitably be discrepancies between the readersâ imagination and the adaptation that can distract from immersion.
Third, you need to provide something new. Why does this story deserve to be told in a different format? What can this add to the original themes of a story? What can we change to make the message come across more on screen? Will this dialogue really be as funny when itâs said out loud?
Weâve seen a lot of terrible âadaptationsâ of animation and books and musicals into movies/tv shows, and I think even among the better ones there is a dissonance between the desire to stay faithful to the source and the desire to make a good adaptation, with whatever changes that may necessitate.
I think while weâve watched the casting of this series, the hints here and there, and final the premiere with bated breath, theyâve been playing the long game. They cast Walker as Percy before he was in the Adam Project. Many people expressedâŚunsavoryâŚfeelings when Leah was cast as Annabeth, but those of us that trusted the team behind this project- including the author himself- did our best to welcome her and were repaid tenfold with her performance in this episode particularly.
Most of the scenes in this episode were not at all how I imagined them in the book, but I adored it. They took what they were given and expanded on it. They created a mini-arc for the trio learning to trust each other. They gave Medusa a labyrinthine lair. Annabeth is a 12 year old walking into a convenience store for the first time in 6+ years with $200 in her pocket, of course sheâs gonna buy as much as she can carry.
The love and care and artistry that went into this single episode brings me so much joy and gives me so much hope. Like I was already excited for a faithful adaptation, but seeing these characters come to life on screen, once you see their chemistry with each other and how they speak and push and pull at each otherâs emotions, it has never been more clear to me the amount of care and foresight that went into this show.
Rick said that these kids are the characters he created and for like 2 years Iâve trusted that that was true, but today it was proven beyond the shadow of a doubt.
I am justâŚin awe.

Picking up calls you shouldn't pick up is a lesson you've yet to learn. Damned be your work habits slipping up into your personal life.
"Let's see if I understand" from the other line.
You take a deep breath, pausing. "Yes?"
"You're going on a date and didn't tell me"
You roll your eyes, looking out the window.
"I would've told you if it was a date, Rach"
You were always a good liar.
"At least I could helped you pick your outfit" she whines. "Like old times!"
It's almost as if you can see her pouting through the phone.
"I would've let you" you concede, "but I already chose the dress you gave me last Christmas"
A fine red garment tailored in authentic silk that hugged your body just right.
"Great choice. That's a killer" then, there's silence, followed by a loud gasp that elicits another eye roll from you. "Wait. Don't tell me- You're already there!"
Your lips quirk up in a smirk. "Maybe"
"You are a terrible friend" but Rachel's words carry no real weight. "At least give me a clue?"
You remember the address, marked in the GPS screen in front of you.
"Boring"
"That's not a clue" she huffs, "everything's boring to you"
You look out the window, the mansion coming into your view.
"Extra boring"
"It's a social gathering, then. You hate those" and you hate how much she's right. Probably knows you better than your dad. Yourself even.
"Your silence proves I'm right" and again, you roll your eyes.
"Goodbye, Rach"
"At least find someone to take home. Your house reeks of loneliness"
It's a joke, but there's a weird pit in your stomach when you hang up. It shouldn't matter that much, but you can't keep pretending you are choosing to spend more time at the office, because going back to a place where the only sound is that of your own steps, echoing back to you, the surface and space looking so artificial, like a hotel room, has become some sort of torture.
Your driver, JoaquĂn, parks right in front of the entrance. Before he moves, you raise your hand.
"I can do this by myself. Thanks"
He knows better to contradict you and you don't know if you are convincing him or yourself.
"Have a nice night, Ms. y/n"
You open the door, sighing as the heels dig into the pebbled road. I'll try.
As he drives away, you can't help but think again what were you really doing here. It's not like you needed the money, so, again, why did you agree? Willingly accepting to help Harry and his friend, people who you could care less, the first even nearing enemy territory. But for some reason, the moment those brown eyes landed on you, it felt like yes was the only correct answer.
"Welcome, Miss. Can I see your invitation?"
You think it's pointless: would you've driven all the way here if you weren't invited?
"Here"
You don't know why but the moment you step in, your eyes search for him, Harry, as if your body moved on instinct. Betraying.
A waiter walks by and you take whatever it's on his tray, downing the liquid with a gulp. Once the small tingling buzz settles into your system, you find that easy practiced smile of yours: cold enough to be polite but not warm enough to be confused for anything more.
"Having fun?"
You spin, dress doing a little reveal of your bare legs, yet he doesn't even look your way, that kind of silent promises and respect faithful men hold onto when they've swore their heart to only one woman.
"I'm trying"
"That's the spirit" he chuckles, lowly. "Is there anything I can do to make your night better?"
You fake a pondering gesture.
"Maybe get you another drink?"
"Thanks, but I want to walk straight when I exit through that door"
"Smart girl" he quips, "but I hope you don't plan on leaving soon"
You take the time to look at him under the chandeliers.
"I have manners"
This man has a kind smile that reaches his eyes, a dark grey but still holding onto a spark for life, not dull at all. His hair matches his gaze, and so does his neatly trimmed beard. His face is aged, probably about the same age as Harry, if you were to take a guess.
"Paul" you recognize. "Paul Lauder"
Lauder offers his hand and a charming smile, like all the men from his circle have been cut from the same cloth: gentleman manners that hide calculating characters. Still, there was something about the man and owner of the house standing before you, that seemed genuine.
"Am I that easy to recognize or has my friend already talked about me?"
A million questions raise through your head. If he was talking about him, how did he know you knew each other? It was a given in your society, yes, but to speak about you both in such friendly terms? Or worse: had Harry spoken of you to his friends?
"Forgive me. I talk nineteen to the dozen"
Your body tenses at just the sound of his voice, and there he is, the man of the hour.
"Harry" Paul calls him, another gentle smile making its way to his face.
"The one and only. Don't tell me you know another one" he jokes.
He still hasn't looked your way, and you don't know why that makes your skin hot.
"You're irreplaceable, my friend"
Now you see why he insisted on helping him. Paul's a true friend: a rare gem, especially in New York's elite.
"This is y/n" Harry introduces you, "David's daughter"
Its only then that Harry looks at you. A fast up and down, barely noticeable, but you were an observer, always. Part of your work and charm, just what made you perceptive and deadly enough. His eyes linger on the open skin, in the cut of your leg, and then move to your face, gaze holding. Daring, almost. And the he chuckles. Harry fucking chuckles, the sound low and grave. A fuzz settles in your cheeks and you choose to blame the alcohol rush.
You desperately wish to know what Harry's thinking.
"Ah. So this is she" a knowing smirk makes its way into his mouth. Then, his eyes widen. "Wait, David? Oh, haven't you grown? Into an extraordinarily beautiful woman, nonetheless. You sure look like your mother"
The compliment feels paternal at best, but a knife slowly twists into your ribs at the last sentence. None of the men seem to catch this.
"She has" and Harry takes your hand from seemingly nowhere, body closer than you anticipated. Grabs your hand and kisses it like he means it. The other man observes it all in silence. "The belle of the ball"
"Except this is my birthday, not a dance" Paul banters, nudging the billionaire gently on his side, as if you hadn't gone completely at loss for words. You hated to be unprepared, yet Harry always seemed to turn you into a house of cards, his wind sweeping you off your feet.
"There's music" Castillo is quick to reply. "That has to count for"
Paul lets out an easy laugh. Then, looks over his shoulder, and you don't miss the way his eyes light up, unaware adoring smile on his face, the rest of the world reduced to a meaningless blur.
"It's my turn, I suppose" you don't understand what he means. "I want to introduce you to my wife"
You see Harry's body tense and smile falter by centimeters, barely noticeable.
So this is it. This is the part where you meet her. Your newest job.
Your eyes follow Paul's direction, only to be knocked breathless.
Her beauty is obvious, insulting even, making you uncomfortable in your own skin. It's in the way she carries herself, smiles all white, her teeth perfectly lined; blinding. Dress ivory and clean, making your red one feel vulgar in comparison.
You wait for the cold to hit you, but when Paul slides a hand across her back, resting behind not to claim nor brag, but to belong and feel her warmth, she smiles, not for the room, but to the man who looks at her like she makes life worth living.
You're confused.
"This is Grace" he introduces her, proud.
The woman shakes your hand. Even her gestures seem the perfect mixture of delicate and proud. You tell her your name and suddenly, she's smiling again.
"Pleased to finally meet you. Harry has talked so much about you"
His stare burns from your side. So he has indeed talked about you before. You decide not to dwelve too much on how that makes you feel.
"Alright, that's enough" he laughs, clipped. A hand slides across your back, and it feels deliberate.
An instrumental cover of an old 90s ballad you can't quite place begins to play.
"This is my favorite" Grace beams, green eyes sparkling with joy.
"I know. That's why I asked it to be played"
She swats his chest playfully while yours aches with a silent press. Grace links her arm with Paul and gives you a goodbye smile.
"I'll leave you two alone. I have an important dance to attend"
Before going, Paul gives Harry one last look, one you can't decipher. Your breath feels oddly constricted.
"Just us again. Is this perhaps fate telling us something?"
You scoff.
"That I should go home"
"Is that so? Didn't take you for a downer" Harry laughs.
"I'm not" you protest like a child, embarrased.
He's enjoying this, by the way he smirks. "I don't believe you"
"I don't care" but you keep looking on his direction.
"Fine. How about this? Give me a dance and I'll believe you"
You face him, annoyed.
"Do you ever stop doing business?"
He just offers his hand.
"Quick. Offer's expiring and everyone's staring"
Harry's right, though. You hate their whispers and looks, so, be it the pressure or way your heart beats when his fingers slip between your own, you concede.
"Just one. You're lucky I don't like unwarranted attention"
He guides you to the center.
"You better get used to it. You're a natural"
The soft strings and notes of a saxophone waft through the air. Grace and Paul laugh somewhere to your side.
"But I hardly know this beauty by my side"
You might break your neck with how fast you raise your view, stuck before on the sway of your feet.
"Huh?"
"Lady in red?"
His hand softly caresses the silk of your dress, like a wind breeze.
"Me?" you ask, voice caught in your throat.
Harry laughs. With or at you.
"No, the song"
That's why it was vaguely familiar.
He quirks an eyebrow. "Don't you know Chris de Burgh?"
"All I know is my feet are killing me"
"So dramatic" yet his voice is soft. As the cello hidden behind drums and bass. Too soft. Stable as the Roland TR-808 drum machine for the drum pattern. Tension hanging like the synthesizer, acknowledged but not spoken of.
Harry had this effect on you. He just brought this side of you, a more unguarded side no one saw or dared to search for. Not even Rachel, who you spoke to. You talked to Harry. Because he looked past your walls. He tried. Took the time to pluck brick by brick. Like it mattered. You weren't New York's most sought-after divorce lawyer nor David Beaumont's daughter, just a girl who tried too much and is tired of doing so, and had finally been seen: the eyebags and the pleading eyes. The yearn for something she would never say outloud, between pride and the refusal to name something she can't even name.
"We always end up dancing" you comment, hand firmly holding his. Because it has become too much, and you'd rather go back to the light swimming than the drowning.
"We always end up doing the same things"
You think about the first time you met him. Not the very first, but the one you saw Harry Castillo for the first time.
It was at your father's fourth wedding, with a woman you can't seem to remember by face nor name.
"I hate weddings" you had said, not expecting to be heard but to be understood; the entlitement of your silver spoon was inherit. You felt as if you were wearing a costume of some sorts: a polished aspect that hid that bitter taste of seeing your father's failure and betrayal all over again, front row. You saw by the corner of your sharp eyes the way Harry tensed, unsure if he should even acknowledge you. So you sat in silence for the rest of the ceremony, answer hanging in the air, and when your father swore an expiring love again, you walked out, not before sparing one last glance his way.
He did too.
It made you falter a bit, unsure, almost tripping on the bench. For a moment, it seemed like he could see what you hid: the light tremble in your hands, the unopened invitations yet showing up at the last minute because you had no one else in this life, and how, despite your cruel jokes and harsh words, your eyes turned glassy when you allowed yourself to look at the bride as a kid looks at the shiniest toy behind the display, forbidden to be touched. For a moment, Harry Castillo saw the little girl who wore the heavy crown of a last name, words and grown face like an armour.
"I hate you"
Or maybe you fear him and the way he picks the scabs of your best hidden wounds, searching for the meaning of you past the shells of healed by force scrapes.
He closes his eyes, feigning hurt. "And here I thought we've gotten past base one"
"I hate you" this time sharper. You wish you could mean every ounce of venom laced within.
"You don't mean that" softly, like his gentle tug on your dress. Like the calm of your storms.
No answer, but the tiniest phantom of a smile graces your lips.
"Tell me about Grace"
Harry's grip tightens on your hands. "What about her?"
"I don't think she's the villain you're trying to make her be"
He narrows his eyes. "Give it a few days. She's just a pretty face"
"You say it like that's all there is"
"No" he's quick to answer. Then pauses, probably pondering. "But it certainly helps"
He looks at your lips. Under the lights, it's hard to distinguish if the red across your face is of anger or just a blush.
"Harry-" you beg without knowing why. A greater woman wouldn't.
"What?" like he's dealing with a naive kid.
"Don't lie to me" you seethe.
Not you. Everyone but you.
The song keeps playing in the distance, yet all you can hear is the ringing of your ears.
"I'm not"
It's pathetic to care this much about someone you claim to despise, finding hurt in a rift across the laces of trust in such strange interwoven bond. A phantom thread.
"Where are you going?"
Your feet develop a mind of it's own. You don't spare him a glance, breathing suddenly a difficult task.
"Outside"
The cool evening breeze hits you. So does the smell of water, the soft sounds of a fountain in the background.
"At least this time it's a garden"
You and balconies. Another of your rules broken. By Harry, again.
"What are you doing?"
You admire his persistance. With shaky fingers, you reach for one of your dress' pockets.
"Thinking"
"It's such a nice evening to be doing that" as if nothing happened.
You roll your eyes, pulling out the lighter with your mother's initials.
"I'm trying to think who is lying to me"
His face falls.
"Y/n" as a warning, maybe a plea. "The answer is obvious. You don't know her, but you know me"
"I don't" you cut, harsh. "As you don't know me either"
You keep saying the same words, as if they were a shield of some sorts, to protect you from falling under his spell.
Harry Castillo scoffs.
"I'm trying, trust me. But you never make it easy" then, his charming smile is back on, slipping on it like a costume of some sorts. Tailored suit: just for him. "Lucky for you, I'm not a quitter"
"Do you have a cigarette?"
His face betrays surprise. Still, he pulls a Marlboro Gold and hands it like a peace offering.
"You said you quit"
The light flickers, smell of nicotine mixed with that of the flowers of the night garden.
You hold his gaze. "I'm not a quitter"
Harry pulls one of his own too. Takes a long drag, tired, before asking.
"Do you want the truth?"
You face him, expression unreadable. A weak smoke cloud billows over your eyes, masking their shine.
"I don't care"
"Don't lie to me" he repeats your words, but instead of the severity of your own, his are laced with benignity.
"I don't care"
"I didn't want to be alone"
You take another drag, silent, wishing for louder words and not spaces of silence that leave your mind restless.
"Harry Castillo, who could buy all of Manhattan, can't find a simple escort?"
He scoffs, seemingly offended. "That's not what I meant"
But not for the accusation at his expense, rather at your lack of (or lack of wanting to) understand.
"Too low for you, I get it. Where all your model friends busy?"
"One, they're not my friends. I can count those with my fingers" he lifts six. "Besides, I doubt twenty something year olds would be friends with a forty-seven year old finance guy"
You take a drag. "What does that make us then, Harry?"
Harry exhales. "We aren't friends"
Your lips curve up. "And two?"
It's his turn to smile.
"I doubt they would choose to accompany me to an old people dinner instead of a night clubbing with their age appropriate friends" he casts you a look, deliberate. "What would you do?"
"I'm here, aren't I?"
His smile widens.
"Tricked, but you are"
You smash the half burnt cigarette against a stone statue next to you.
"Grace isn't the problem"
"Sweet Grace may be eleven years younger, and we know what that means in our world, but God, doesn't that woman love Paul?"
You chuckle, lowly.
"Jealous?" you find yourself teasing him.
He casts you a quick look. "Of course I am"
Even if his tone is light and playful, there is a quiet longing laced within. You gulp harshly.
"Why me?"
"Because you're you"
Your heart shouldn't beat this fast. You chuckle, weakly.
"Elaborate"
"Of course you have to know everything, don't you? You can't help but want to understand it all"
You laugh. "Is that so bad?"
"It's very... you"
"Got it. I'm the bad I was asking about"
For the first time, you both join in laughter. It's so easy feeling this comfortable with Harry, you think. Like it's meant to be. All pretenses left behind for a moment of too loud unguarded laughs.
When the laughter dies, he takes one last drag before putting his cigarette out.
"It's because you're the only one who could play along and not make more out of it"
You're not sure you want to face him. Still, you do, offering a tight lipped smile his way.
"Because I'm smart"
"Of course, you're a Beaumont"
A beat.
"You could've told me"
He shots a look your way, eyebrow arched.
"Would've you accepted if I told you the truth?"
You ponder for a moment before answering.
"No"
"Be honest"
"No, but I would've told you to fuck yourself"
Harry smiles. "That's better"
You join him. "I could send a lawsuit your way for lying"
"I doubt that, divorce lawyer"
You let out a dramatic gasp.
"I went to law school. I know this things"
"I'd like to see you try"
"Are you challenging me, Mr. Castillo?" you dare, mischievous.
"Please, don't call me that. You make me feel old"
"That you are"
"You're impossible" he sighs. "Older, then"
The wind blows your hair a little wild. It gets on your face.
"We should go inside" you say.
"Yeah. We should"
You feel a hot rush through your face when his fingers remove the loose strands, touch delicate. His gentle ministrations find a way inside your tense heart, nesting inside in a pulsating soft ache.
He offers his hand. "Dance with me. As an apology"
"That sounds like another favor"
"Yeah. So we get more prying and envious glances thrown our way"
"I feel I'm getting the short end of the stick here"
Harry laughs. "I'm the old man with a pretty lady on my arm"
"The lady in red" and the color matches your cheeks and dress.
"Is dancing with me"
You take his arm. "Lyric?"
"Truth as well"
When you get back inside, Paul's eyes find you soon enough. You try not to think too much about the meaning behind his smile.
"So..."
"So?"
You take his hands first, diving in. They're warm, holding yours back without second thoughts.
"Let's dance"
And you do, trying not to feel special for being the one Harry Castillo chose.

@user0172 we can see that the f1 drivers are Y/nâs fans
The release of the *Passenger Princess* music video was about to happen, and I felt the nerves as if it were my first project. It wasnât just the fact that it was a new song, but the fact that my boyfriend would be in the video, and people, besides not knowing we're together, would freak out once they saw the video and realized it was him.
I still remember when I suggested the idea of him participating.
âYouâve got to be kidding me, Y/n,â he said, laughing, as we sat on my couch. Charles always seemed to find a way to make any moment fun, even when I was being completely serious.
âIâm serious! Youâd be perfect for the role,â I replied, crossing my arms, pretending to be impatient. âThe song is about a girl who loves being the passenger in her boyfriendâs car. Who better for that than my boyfriend, who happens to be one of the best Formula 1 drivers in the world?â
âI know, but that doesnât mean it literally has to be your boyfriend,â he said, still laughing.
âFine, but donât complain after seeing me kiss and sit on some other guyâs lap in a skirt.â I said indifferently, and he immediately pulled me into his lap, kissing my face all over, making me laugh.
âOkay, Iâll do it.â He sighed, still smiling. âNo oneâs kissing your lips but me.â
âI knew youâd agree,â I said, and he kissed my face several more times.
âYou know this is going to cause a storm, right?â
I knew. I knew the internet would go wild when they saw Charles as the lead in my video. But what they didnât know was that Charles and I had been together for two years, and so far, no one had figured it out.
âI know, but just because youâre in the video doesnât actually mean youâre my boyfriend. Itâs just a role.â
âAlright then.â
Now, two months after we shot the video, the moment of the premiere had arrived.
The song was released last night, and people were already freaking out. Today, we were at the Monza paddock, where Iâd be spending the weekend with Charles.
He was nervous, even though he wouldnât admit it.
âDo you think theyâll notice we werenât acting?â he asked quietly, as we sat in one of the areas reserved for the drivers, watching the preparations for the race.
I smiled.
âTheyâll probably suspect and ship us because of the video, but if we donât give any signs that weâre actually dating, they wonât be sure, love.â
Deep down, I knew the fans would go crazy. The song was already a hit, and the fact that Charles was the male lead in the video would only increase their curiosity. But our relationship had always been just ours. No speculations, no gossip.
The video was finally released, and as we stood in the Ferrari garage, surrounded by engineers, mechanics, and, of course, other drivers, I smiled as I heard my voice and looked up at a large screen where the video started playing.
I couldnât help but smile. It was exactly how we had imagined it. Charles, next to me, shook his head with a small, restrained smile. His eyes met mine, and I could see how much he was enjoying everyoneâs reaction.
The video showed scenes of the two of us, him driving a Ferrari while I sang, having fun beside him. The scenes of us exchanging knowing looks were filled with a naturalness that few could fake. Because, of course, we werenât faking.
âYouâve got to be kidding me, right?â Lando appeared in front of us. âHow did you get Charles to do this?â
âI just thought heâd be perfect for the role and, with a lot of effort, I convinced him,â I replied, trying to keep my tone casual.
âUh-huh, sure...â Lando muttered, glancing back and forth between Charles and me. Before he could say anything else, Pierre Gasly appeared with a mischievous smile on his face.
âHey, Charles, since when are you an actor?â Pierre teased, giving Charles a light punch on the shoulder.
âSince Y/n convinced me to do it,â he answered, still maintaining his calm tone. But I knew how much he was enjoying this whole situation.
The confusion only grew as the day went on. The video was an instant hit, and soon, comments on social media started pouring in.
#YnCharles was trending, and theories about a possible romance between us wouldnât stop appearing. The paddock was in constant buzz, full of journalists and fans speculating whether something was going on between me and Charles.
Charles and I exchanged discreet glances and smiles while keeping our secret. We had gone through this before, watching people try to guess what was happening between us. But we had always kept everything private, just for the two of us.
By the end of the day, as the sun set over Monza, Charles and I found a moment of privacy in the Ferrari motorhome. He pulled me into a hug, kissing the top of my head.
âSo, do you think theyâll figure it out now?â he whispered.
âI think itâs just a matter of time before someone connects the dots.â
Charles looked at me for a moment, his green eyes shining with that soft expression he always had when it was just the two of us.
âI donât care if they find out anymore, Y/n. Iâm tired of hiding. I just want people to know youâre mine.â
My heart skipped a beat hearing that. We had always been so careful, so reserved. But I knew Charles was right. We couldnât keep hiding forever.
âMaybe itâs the right time,â I said, holding his face in my hands. âBut until then, letâs let them have fun with their theories.â
Charles smiled, pulling me closer. âTwo years together, and still no one suspects.â
âWeâre good at this,â I joked, kissing him lightly.
As we embraced there, away from the curious eyes of the paddock, I knew that when the secret finally came out, weâd be ready.

introducing my series on the pitt not being fucking slick!!
pt. 1 of who knows y'all, i have lost the plot: the first ten minutes of 1x01
one of the more important aspects of the first episode of a tv series is how the characters are introduced to the audience. a well-crafted premiere will let the audience know who the main players are and why they should care about them, which includes establishing the relationships between those characters (or at the very least hinting at what those relationships might be). this should ideally be accomplished in a subtle manner (i.e., so the audience doesnât feel like theyâre being beaten over the head with information) and as succinctly as possible. many of the best tv premieres do all of this within the first couple of minutes of the episode.
the pitt follows that formula. within the first ten-ish minutes, we are introduced to all of our main characters and are subtly informed of how they relate to one another. some of this is accomplished through dialogue, but a good chunk of it is shown through visuals.
for example, we donât need to be told that robby is the main character â the show communicates that information to us by having him be the first person we see on screen and the camera following him during the first minute or so of the episode. in contrast, the next main character weâre introduced to is dana. but dana isnât really the focus of her own introduction. instead, sheâs being used to provide exposition telling us more about robby. dana serves that same function in the very next scene, but to introduce collins instead. this creates a connection between robby and collins in the viewerâs mind. we donât know who they are to each other yet, but we do have the sense that these characters must be important to one another. this sequence ultimately indicates that robby and collins are kind of like 1A and 1B as far as character importance goes in the pitt.
once robby and abbot are done with #rooftime, weâre reminded again of the connection between robby and collins through a camera angle showing that she is looking over at him from across the emergency department. from this shot, we know the two are directly across from one another. while collins is looking over at robby, we are introduced to our next main character, langdon, when he walks up to speak with her. after a short exchange, the scene abruptly cuts to another new character, mel, being introduced when she walks up to robby. and due to the earlier shot of collins looking over at robby, we know this must mean that langdon and mel are standing directly across from one another as well.
since the audience is already subconsciously aware of the importance of robby and collinsâ relationship, mel and langdon being introduced through back-to-back interactions with those two characters starts to create a connection between them in the audienceâs mind before they even speak. it also establishes them as the 2A and 2B to robby and collinsâ 1A and 1B. additionally, the charactersâ positioning in this scene creates our first parallel between the two relationships (though it's certainly not the last), with each standing across from their partner. this, along with other parallels between the two relationships in 1x01, hint at mel and langdon being a sort of younger, less traumatized version of robby and collins (one such instance is discussed here). while robby and collins are both pessimistic about the upcoming shift (and who can blame them lmao), langdon and mel range from upbeat (langdon) to 100% optimistic (my sweetie pie mel).
after this, mohan is introduced via a conversation between her and robby. the rest of our main characters are then introduced when mckay shows santos, whitaker, and javadi around the waiting room. melâs earlier introduction is an interesting choice, as it narratively and visually separates her from the other newbies, even though it would make logical sense for her to be introduced with this group. because of this, the choice to pair mel with langdon, robby, and collins feels incredibly intentional.
and the show continues to do so throughout its first ten minutes. when all of the doctors gather for rounds, mel is still alongside those three while the rest of the doctors are on the other side, mostly offscreen. when mel introduces herself to the group, langdon is shown to be watching her from the background in contrast with every other character in the shot looking away from her. once the group officially begins rounding, mel continues to be primarily shown with langdon, robby, and collins. mel and langdon are visually paired up at least three times during this short sequence, including one moment where robby and collins are leading the group while langdon and mel walk together just behind them (which is such a lovely representation of the 1A/1B and 2A/2B idea).
after a bit of foreshadowing of langdonâs addiction through the doctors interacting with louie, the show transitions from this ten-minute introduction period to the real action of the episode with the arrival of the train track patients. however, the purpose of those first ten minutes has been served: the audience now knows all of the characters and is subconsciously primed for how the relationships between those characters will unfold.
tl;dr the first ten minutes of 1x01 have several indicators that mel and langdon will be one of the most important relationships on the show, and consistently parallels the two with the only relationship that has been confirmed to be romantic thus far, robby and collins.

i stumbled upon the wheel of time about a week or so after the season one finale premiered. i saw an advertisement for it and gave it a shot. i was living in a hotel, mourning the loss of my father and overall not having a good time. it caught my eye as something i could put on for fun. i watched it all in one evening and as soon as the finale was over, i restarted it. i rewatched it eight times that week and it became the only show i watched.
my attention gravitated to moiraine immediately. i saw a lot of myself in moiraine and her quirks. i knew nothing of her character from the books or her relationships. and when i watched episode six something truly changed inside me. it was the first time i had watched a sapphic relationship that wasnât for the male gaze or wasnât ridiculed for the mere purpose of both partners being women. as a lesbian, it was so refreshing seeing not only a sapphic couple, but a middle aged sapphic couple on screen between main characters. that meant the world to this lesbian in her early twenties not knowing how her future may be.
the wheel of time was truly the best way to escape reality for a while and it truly has remained my favorite show to this day. these characters have inspired me in ways i didnât know was possible, i have adapted the love for fish puns because of siuan and see her any time i see anything fish related. i have incorporated small blue details because of moiraine and siuan and the blue ajah. i have pushed myself to go out and adventure, taking on multiple solo trips abroad because these characters have taught me to do the daring.
the wheel of time has also brought me a wonderful community, both on here, instagram, and tik tok. i have met some of my favorite people because of this show and our shared love for it. i cannot thank this show, the cast, and the crew enough.
please take the time to sign the petition (link in bio) to save this show, we are a small but mighty fandom and i believe in us!

Reconciliation

gif @skarsgards-bill
This was a special night. Alexander had invited you to his new movie premiere, an event you couldnât miss, not just because he was your friend, but because you were genuinely excited to see him on the big screen. The venue was grand, the atmosphere buzzing with anticipation, cameras flashing as guests arrived in their finest.
You had dressed for the occasion. A long black dress that hugged your figure, the high slit revealing glimpses of your leg as you moved. The long sleeves added a touch of elegance, while your high heels gave you just the right amount of height and poise. Your smoky eye makeup sharpened your gaze, making it impossible not to feel confident.
And then you saw him.
Bill.
You had known he would be here. You had prepared for it, convinced yourself youâd be able to handle it. But the moment your eyes met his across the room, everything else faded. He was impossible to ignore in that suit, perfectly tailored, the fabric clinging to his broad frame, accentuating his height, his presence. He looked striking, untouchable, but the way his gaze lingered on you betrayed him.
And those eyes, those big green eyes, the ones you used to know so well. The ones that could burn right through you, pull you in, leave you breathless. He was looking at you with them now, unwavering, unreadable, but undeniably focused.
The tension between you was immediate, suffocating. Stolen glances, lingering looks, the weight of everything unsaid pressing down on you.
You turned away, forcing yourself to smile, to focus on the conversation around you. Some of your friends were here, mutual ones, people who knew both of you, who had probably sensed the shift between you long before tonight. You laughed at something someone said, trying to immerse yourself in their company, in anything that wasnât him.
But it was useless. Even as you spoke, even as you nodded at stories and sipped your drink, you could feel his presence like a phantom touch, his gaze heavy on you. He wasnât approaching, but he wasnât looking away either. And neither were you.
The premiere ended to thunderous applause, but you barely heard it. Your hands came together in polite claps, your smile practiced, distant. Alexander and the rest of the cast stood on stage, accepting praise, but your mind was elsewhere.
You didnât look for him.
And yet, you felt him.
Bill was somewhere in the theatre, somewhere close, but you refused to acknowledge it. Just as he did. The two of you existed in the same space, yet it was as if an unspoken agreement had been made, to act as though you werenât.
As the audience started filing out of the theatre, reporters and cameras gathered near the entrance, eager to capture reactions and interviews. You lingered nearby, chatting with a few familiar faces, when you heard his name.
Of course, they would want to speak with him. He is Alexanderâs brother, and also I known figure in his own right. It was inevitable.
Bill stood in front of the cameras, answering questions with effortless charm. His voice was smooth, calm, carrying that low timbre that had always had a way of sinking under your skin. He spoke about the film, about Alexanderâs performance, his expression unreadable yet so composed.
You hated how mesmerizing he was. The way he moved, the slight tilt of his head, the occasional flick of his gaze toward the reporter. His suit framed him perfectly, emphasizing his height, his broad shoulders. And those eyes...focused, sharp, so intensely green under the flashing lights.
He was a vision of control, but you knew better.
The moment passed, the interviews ended, and just like that, the crowd shifted toward the after-party. You followed, letting the hum of voices and the clink of glasses fill the void he left in your thoughts.
The venue was warm with low lighting, music humming softly in the background as drinks flowed freely. You found yourself among friends, people who had always been part of your shared world, people who had no idea of the storm brewing just beneath the surface.
He was across the room, laughing with a group of girls. His voice, smooth and flirtatious, hung in the air as he leaned toward one of them, his hand brushing against her arm, a soft chuckle escaping his lips. She leaned in closer, her fingers grazing his shoulder, and you hated how easily he seemed to slip into this effortless charm. You swallowed hard, trying to ignore the wave of jealousy that surged within you. But it was hard, so damn hard to ignore when it felt like he was making sure you saw it.
You turned away quickly, trying to refocus on your conversation, but the image of him flirting with those girls burned in the back of your mind. The knot in your stomach twisted tighter with every passing second.
Then there he was.
He joined your group. Not next to you, not facing you, but close enough to make your pulse spike.
He greeted your...his friends... his voice smooth, effortless. Ignoring you completely. And so, you did the same, letting the conversation move around you like a current, pretending not to feel the heat of his presence pressing against your skin.
Time stretched.
And then, one by one, the group began to disperse.
A friend left to get another drink. Another was pulled into conversation across the room. Someone excused themselves for a phone call.
Until, finally, it was just the two of you.
The silence between you was deafening.
He took a slow sip of his drink, eyes flicking to yours over the rim of his glass.
âStill pretending Iâm not here?â
His voice was low, edged with something unreadable.
And just like that, the air between you cracked, tension giving way to something sharp, something inevitable. Your fingers curled around the stem of your glass, a steadying anchor against the sudden shift in the air.
You could still pretend. You could lift your drink, let a slow sip buy you time, feign indifference. But what was the point?
Your gaze met his, steady, defiant. âYouâre the one who walked in and acted like I wasnât standing right here.â
A flicker of something crossed his face. Amusement, irritation, maybe both. He took another sip, the ice clinking softly against the glass. âSeemed like the game you wanted to play.â
âDonât flatter yourself.â
He exhaled a quiet, humourless laugh, shaking his head. âRight. My mistake.â
His eyes dragged over you, slow and deliberate, taking in the black dress hugging your frame, the slit teasing glimpses of skin when you shifted your weight. You knew exactly how you looked tonight. And so did he.
Your voice was quieter when you spoke again. âYou had a few drinks.â
His lips curved slightly, the ghost of a smirk. âObservant.â
Your lips pressed together, willing yourself to remain unaffected. "Just wondering if you ever take anything seriously."
Bill exhaled a quiet laugh, but there was no real amusement in it. "I take plenty of things seriously."
You arched a brow, unimpressed. "Like what? Flirting with every woman in sight?"
His jaw tightened, his gaze darkened, his fingers tightening around his glass, and for a moment, it almost looked like he wanted to grab you. Or say something that would shatter the thin line you were walking.
Instead, he took another sip of his drink.
He stepped closer, the scent of whiskey and expensive cologne filling the space between you. A muscle flickered in his jaw, his green eyes dark with frustration, longing, everything you didnât want to acknowledge. âI saw you too. Flirting with those men. What, are we all just playing the same game?â
Your fingers curled into your palm. The tension between you was unbearable, a slow burn threatening to consume you both. You scoffed, tilting your chin up. "You always did know how to make a scene."
Billâs lips parted, as if he had something to say, but instead, he ran a hand through his hair. "Really?" He said in a nonchalant tone, smirking at you.
You could feel the anger bubbling up, and you didnât want to be near him. Without another word, you started walking away, trying to put distance between you and the storm that had just begun to boil.
But he followed.
âDonât walk away from me,â he commanded, his voice rough.
âYou know those men,â you snapped, ignoring what he just said, not stopping, still moving ahead.
âTheyâre our friends, Bill. Donât try to play this like Iâm doing the same thing you are.â
You didnât hear him anymore. Didnât need to. You kept walking and he was right behind you, shadowing your every step.
You saw an empty room at the end of the hallway. You reached the room thinking that will give you a little bit of privacy, the door clicking softly behind you as you both stepped inside, the noise of the party fading into an eerie stillness.
The moment you both crossed the threshold, everything changed.
You didnât speak.
There was nothing but the raw fire between you, crackling in the space, demanding to be released.
The air in the dimly lit room felt thicker, almost electric. You could feel the heat radiating between you, a burning intensity that had been smouldering since the moment your eyes met across the crowded room.
He was too close. You could see the tension in his jaw, the muscles tightening as if he were fighting against something.
âI never touched any of them,â he said suddenly, his voice lower, a dark edge creeping in.
The tension between you was unbearable. The room, despite its softness, felt like it was closing in.
You were close now. Close enough to feel the heat of his breath on your skin. His body was a wall, unyielding and strong, his presence overwhelming.
Before you could take another breath, his lips were on yours. Hard. Demanding. His kiss was a promise, a wild, desperate thing that sent a shock through your body, waking something inside of you. It wasnât soft, wasnât gentle. It was everything, everything youâd been holding back.
His hands gripped your waist, pulling you closer as if he couldnât get close enough. The tension, the passion. It all crashed together in that kiss. Fire. Heat. Desire.
You responded with the same intensity, your hands tangled in his hair, pulling him in. This wasnât just anger anymore. It was something else, something raw, something that tore through you both with every touch, every kiss, every desperate movement.
He tasted like liquor and regret, and it only made you want him more. For that moment, there was nothing else. No arguments. No words. Just the two of you, entangled in something neither of you could escape.
He broke the kiss studdle. Both of breathless and dizzy. You stared at each other, his green eyes burned into yours, searching, demanding, as if trying to decipher whether you would run or stay. Your pulse pounded, and everything around you forgotten. There was no one else, nothing else. Just the two of you and the gravity pulling you back together.
His hand moved to his belt, unbuckling it with practiced ease, his eyes locked on yours as if daring you to look away. The sudden, quiet sound of his zipper echoes in the room, and you feel a surge of heat pool low in your stomach.
Without waiting a reaction from him, you lowered yourself in front of him, his breath hitched, chest tightening in response to the sheer intensity of the moment. His hands twitched; muscles tense as if every nerve in his body was aware of the connection building between you two. His eyes followed your movements, captivated by the slow, deliberate way you chose to lower yourself in front of him, oh, how sweet you took your time, making every second feel like an eternity.
You slowly moved his hands aside, lowering his pants and his underwear, releasing his shaft. The lushness of your tongue bedded his soft cock without warning, and you heard him letting out a husky gasp.Â
Feeling the warm silky flesh swell and harden within your mouth, you sent your eyes up to peer at him, admiring the sight.
âFuck,â he muttered, his voice low and rough, almost hoarse. The cocky smirk that had once lingered on his lips now faltered as raw desire flooded him, replaced by something darker, something deeper. Â You're dragging your mouth along the length of his shaft, your lips across ridges and thrumming veins, your jaw loosening until you felt him deep in the back of your throat.Â
His chest rose and fell with every move of your mouth, the heat in his body increasing with each passing second.
He swallowed hard. "Youâre going to ruin me." he breathed out, the words barely audible, more a raw gasp than anything coherent. His eyes darkened, and he clenched his jaw, almost as though he was trying to keep himself from doing something reckless. He could feel his body tightening, every part of him coming alive under your mouth.
You pulled, sucked, and pumped him in your warm mouth, using one of your hand at the same time. That was the moment when he began to rock his hips back and forth to fuck back into your mouth, his hands found your head, caressing lovingly and trying to take control and his head fell back with a moan.Â
âLook at me, Bill,â you whispered, your voice steady, defiant. âYou wanted this. Now Iâm giving it to you.â
His breath hitched, and you saw the tightness in his jaw, the struggle in his eyes as he tried to keep control. But you were too close, and he was too deep into your mouth.
He clenched his fists into your hair, lowering his gaze, into your eyes. You sucked him even faster, harder. He chuckled darkly, his voice sending a shiver through you as he slowly pressed your head into him, making you gag around his cock. Every move of your lips on his cock was pulling him closer to the edge of madness. He thickened against your tongue, and you knew he was close, so fucking close, you were so prepared to feel his hot seed inside your mouth but instead he pushed you away.
Without hesitation and without warning , he grabbed you, his movements commanding as he pulled you back toward him.
Without a word, he turned you around, pushing your chest against the back of the sofa that was in the room, lifting the hem of your dress quickly. The fabric of the couch was cool against your skin, but the fire of his hands on your body made everything burn hotter.
You could feel him against you, the hardness of him pressing into your back as he positioned himself behind you. His breath was hot against the back of your neck, his lips grazing over your skin as he whispered, âI missed you,â he muttered, his voice hoarse, low and filled with a mixture of raw desire and desperation.
He pulled you further, his hands gripping your hips with bruising force, aligning himself against you. You could feel the tension winding tighter and tighter between you, pulling you both into a whirlpool of desire that neither of you could escape.
âI missed this. âHe said with a rough growl.
In one swift motion, he was inside you, filling you with one powerful thrust that left you gasping, there was no gentleness in the way he entered you, no hesitation. It was raw, primal, a force that pushed everything else aside. The shock of it, the suddenness, sent your senses into overdrive. Every nerve in your body was on fire, each touch, each movement, sending waves of pleasure and tension crashing into you. He didnât give you a chance to think. The mix of fire and passion igniting an intense connection between you both.
The anger, the pain, all of it was forgotten for a moment as you focused on the heat between you, the way he moved, the way he filled you.
âI miss being inside you...tell me you want it this,â he demanded, his voice harsh, needy. âTell me you need this as much as I do.â
You couldnât find words, not at first. You just felt, felt him, felt the way he moved inside you, felt the way your body responded to him. And then, you whispered, âI need this⌠I need you.â
That was all it took. The tension that had been building between you finally snapped, and Billâs movements became more frantic, more desperate. The sound of his breath, the feel of his hands on your body, the way he pressed deeper, it was all consuming, overwhelming.
Each thrust sent shockwaves through you, every touch igniting something inside you that had been buried for so long. It wasnât just about sex. It was about everything. About the anger, about the love, about the unspoken need that neither of you could deny.
You could hear the moans escaping from Billâs lips, his grip tightening on you as he moved faster, harder. âYou feel so fucking good,â he groaned, his voice thick with pleasure. âI canât get enough of you.â
And you couldnât get enough of him either. You moved with him, your body responding to his, the tension between you shifting from anger to something deeper, something that neither of you could escape. It was messy, it was intense, and it was everything you both needed in that moment.
As the intensity built, as the fire between you grew stronger, you could feel the world around you fading, leaving nothing but the two of you, wrapped in the heat of the moment. Nothing else mattered, just the raw, desperate need to feel each other, to finally let go of everything that had been holding you back.
Billâs hands moved to your waist, pulling you even closer as he began to move in and out of you, each thrust deliberate, each one building in intensity. âYou feel so fucking good,â he groaned in your ear, his voice thick with need. âGod, youâre driving me insane.â
You could barely hold on to yourself as you responded, your body moving with his, meeting him thrust for thrust. âI canât stop. Please donât stop,â you gasped, your words coming out in broken pieces as he pushed deeper into you.
âI wonât stop,â he growled, the sound of his voice dark and possessive. âYouâre mine. All mine.â His hands were everywhere now gripping your hips, guiding you, holding you as his movements became more frantic, more desperate. You could feel the anger, the need, everything that had built up between you, coming to a head with each powerful stroke.
And then it hit. The pleasure, the release, the way your body exploded around him, you couldnât even breathe. It was a wave of everything crashing over you, a culmination of everything that had led up to this moment. And Bill wasnât far behind, his grip on you tightening as he followed you, his body shuddering with pleasure. He came with a low, guttural moan, his body shuddering against yours as he held you tightly, as if he feared you might slip away.
For a moment, there was silence. A quiet, heavy silence filled with the remnants of what had just happened, and both of you were left gasping, your bodies still tangled together, trying to process the raw emotions that had just exploded between you.
Billâs chest heaved behind you, the sound of his breath ragged, as though he couldnât quite believe what had just happened. His hands, still tightened around your waist from earlier, had loosened their grip. He wasnât letting go of you, not emotionally, not physically. Not even for a second.
As you both stood there, catching your breath, the heat of the moment still lingering between you, Bill slowly pulled himself out from inside you. His hands moved to adjust his pants then the fabric of your dress, smoothing it out, making sure it was just right.
âYou look perfect,â he murmured pulling you close, is voice low and affectionate, a stark contrast to the intensity that had just unfolded.
You leaned into him, feeling the warmth of his chest against yours, his arms wrapping around you like a protective barrier, pulling you deeper into his embrace. The weight of everything, the tension, the anger, the passion, seemed to melt away in that moment.
He tilted your head up, his thumb gently brushing over your lips before he placed a soft kiss on your forehead and then on your lips. âNow letâs go home and donât make me sleep alone in our bedroom ever again.â
His words were a perfect mix of tenderness and possessiveness, and they made something warm settle in your chest.
You nodded, burying your face in the crook of his neck, feeling safe and loved, a stark contrast to the storm that had just passed.
Bill kissed the top of your head, his fingers gently brushing through your hair. âLetâs go,â he whispered, his tone soft but still carrying that hint of cockiness, like he knew you were his now, and nothing was going to change that.
As you both stepped out of the quiet room and into the soft glow of the after-party, Alexander spotted you.
His eyes sparkled with knowing amusement, a small smirk tugging at his lips. He didnât need to say much; the look was enough. âFinally,â he said with a grin, shaking his head at the two of you âI was looking for you everywhere â.
Bill glanced at him, then looked around the room as if confused. âFinally⌠what? Did they bring out dessert?â he asked, feigning innocence, ignoring the last part. âBecause I swear, Iâve been waiting all night for something sweet.â
Alexander let out a short laugh, giving him a knowing look. âRight. Thatâs exactly what I meant.â
Bill just smirked, sliding his hand into yours like it was the most natural thing in the world, he leaned in, his breath warm against your ear. His voice dropped, slow and deliberate, just for you. âSpeaking of sweet,â he murmured, his fingers pressing into your waist, âI can't wait to taste you on my tongue.â
A shiver ran through you, heat flashing beneath your skin at his words.
You couldnât help but smile, your heart still racing from everything that had just happened.
The air between you and Bill had shifted, no more games, no more unspoken tension. Only the weight of what you had just shared and the promise of what was to come.
Billâs hand tightened around yours as you walked back into the crowd, but this time, the weight of the world didnât feel so heavy. You were together again, in more ways than one.
