#I did not start with the intention of listening to all of verdi's operas#and i still don't think i will listen to them all but#I kinda want to listen to most of them now I guess#maybe rank them at the end#i was pleasantly surprised by a couple like#I did enjoy ernani! and simon boccanegra#like i though ernani might be a bore because it's a lesser known one and rarely performed#but i enjoyed it more than others like#otello <- I'm sorry i don't get what the hype is about#maybe I should relisten to it one day but#I listened to it three times. did not like it that much.#aida was also surprisingly just okay#to be fair it's meant to be a grandiose opera so just listening to it won't do it justice#but still#opera#giuseppe verdi#operablr#la forza del destino#i vespri siciliani#luisa miller#la battaglia di legnano#polls#*

So in 2018 (aka The Dark Ages when I was on here on another blog but WE DON’T TALK ABOUT THAT), I made an ask set where each of the 13 questions was inspired (to differing degrees) by a different Verdi opera, most of which I had seen.
Now, four years later, I have found that ask set, and with some changes and of course the inclusion of the 13 operas I omitted from the original ask set (some of which I omitted even though I had seen them and some of which I hadn’t seen), here is Version 2.0!:
[for the ones with multiple options, you can answer one or both questions as you prefer.]
Oberto: If you’ve been dumped or cheated on and you’re comfy talking about it, how did you deal with it? Alternatively, what is the best relationship drama you’ve ever witnessed and what was the fallout?
Un giorno di regno: Funniest trick or prank you’ve ever pulled on someone? Alternatively, do you think humor is a good way to deal with problems and sucky things in life?
*Nabucco: How would you describe your relationships with your siblings/step-siblings/people with whom you have sibling-like relationships?
I Lombardi alla prima crociata: Was there ever a time you just said “fuck it” and decided to do your own thing, even if (and especially if) you knew you would get a lot of hate for it? If so, what was it like? If not, what would you do?
*Ernani: What is the most painful "love polygon" you have ever been in? Alternatively, if you’ve never been in a love polygon, how do you deal with rejection?
I due Foscari: How do you deal with injustice in the world around you?
Giovanna d’Arco: Thoughts on period dramas/adapting history as fiction?
Alzira: What, in your opinion, is the best way to break down an abusive system of power? Alternatively, do you think dreams and nightmares can tell us important things about ourselves?
Attila: Talk about a time when you’ve avenged someone or something you love. Alternatively, what is your fatal flaw?
*Macbeth: What are your biggest ambitions?
I masnadieri: When the world becomes bleak, how do you try to stay sane and keep hope alive?
Il corsaro: How much do you romanticize/idealize your life? Alternatively, where in the world do you most want to go?
La battaglia di Legnano: Who’s one person from your past you want to see again? Alternatively, talk about a near-death experience you’ve had or someone you know has had.
Luisa Miller: Talk about a time you were wrongly accused of doing something you didn’t do or doing something you did do but for reasons other than the ones you had. Alternatively, on a much more lighthearted note than just about every other question on this set, give us a good drink recipe!
Stiffelio: What are your thoughts/feelings on religion? Alternatively, what does forgiveness mean to you?
*Rigoletto: Of whom or what are you fiercely protective?
*Il trovatore: What is the weirdest instance of being confused with someone else that you’ve ever experienced?
*La traviata: What makes you different from the people around you? Do you feel like an outsider in your world—if so, why; if not, why not?
*Les vêpres siciliennes/I vespri siciliani: What are three things that you passionately believe in?
Simon Boccanegra: If you’re comfortable, tell us about a personal loss you’ve experienced and how you’ve dealt with it. If you’re not, how do you handle conflict resolution?
*Un ballo in maschera: What is the most embarrassing thing to have ever happened to you in public (meaning, in front of lots of people)?
*La forza del destino: If you could go back in time and change one thing that you did and all of its related consequences, what would it be?
*Don Carlo(s): Who is one person you know that you would die for, and why?
*Aida: Choose one memory that you want to go back in time for so you can live it over and over again.
*Otello: Do you have a grudge against any particular person, and if so, why?
*Falstaff: What is the most hilarious thing you have ever seen/heard/otherwise experienced?
Enjoy, everyone!
[Note: an asterisk besides a title indicates that the opera in question was one of the 13 featured in the original set.]
