Blue Yeti Review - What We Know About This Microphone So Far
Recently there has been a lot of hype over Blue Yeti microphones. It is mainly due to their low price tag. It seems as though the Yeti brand will dominate the market soon, so let's find out if the product lives up to the expectations or not. This article will be full of unbiased, Blue Yeti review information. You can compare the differences of these microphones among other brands such as the Panasonic, condenser microphones, the SM adapters, the capsules, etc.   The Blue Yeti makes a great home recording or podcast. The mic comes with a shock mount, a cardioid capsule, a balanced arm, and a boom arm with a typical setup. Blue uses a proprietary triple-capsule is set, which enables you to change between four different frequency bands, customizing how it picks up other sounds.   They also have two capsules and a variable-ratio damping diaphragm. They have a unique and incredibly versatile boom arm with knobs and a control dial for panning, an on/off switch, and a spring design that work exceptionally well.   The main Issue with Blue Yeti The Yeti's most significant issue is its lack of bass. I have been using many different microphone types, and the majority of them, while very flexible, do not provide a strong enough bass tone to make vocals come through clear and clean.   This mic does not suffer from this issue at all, even at high volumes. The mic produces surprisingly deep bass and has a whole friendly tone, but the low end is not as strong as some other cordless/rumble-packed models at lower volumes. Overall, the Blue Yeti does a pretty good job and is a decent choice for those looking for a simple yet effective boom arm.   Most Impressive Features The Yeti's versatility and capacity to handle so many things is perhaps its most impressive feature. It can be used as a desktop mic, cardioid mic, and cardioid condenser mic while maintaining a standard noise reduction profile. It also features three common cardioid polar patterns, which work exceptionally well. The cardioid mic is probably the best value for the money, as it eliminates some of the noise floors of condenser microphones.   The Yeti is one of the few boom arms (the Bomber is another) without even a cable connecting the earpiece to the microphone. It is in part because of the unique boom arm design. Three rubber rings lock together to produce the boom arm, that are parallel to the rest of the equipment. This design makes for easy attachment to a backpack or messenger bag. For a much more hands-free approach to this mic, an optional shock mount is provided.   Blue Yeti - Tonal Quality  Another feature of the Blue Yeti that impressed me was its sound quality. Though the mix does have a bit of a muffled tone, it was quickly picked up and heard over other mid-priced microphones. In addition to that, the Yeti also has a very tight and transparent manner. In my Yeti review, I mentioned that many performers out there lack the familiar tonal quality of the Yeti; this falls into that category.   My Experience with Blue Yeti Mic In my yeti review, I touched on that the Yeti is a little on the light side. My inexperience with balanced microphones (i.e., ones with a very narrow pickup basket) and my general lack of experience in shopping (I'm not a technical person) lead me to the conclusion that the mic might be a little challenging to come by at the moment. You can, however, easily find many compatible carriers online or locally. The Yeti is an excellent mic for beginners, especially those looking to go loud.   Finally, as part of my Blue Yeti review, I tried out cardioversion. Although my voice quality did not seem to change much from my previous Yeti review.  I can say that the cardioversion does deliver a bit of a kick. Most individuals, on the other hand, are unlikely to be "over-bogged" on their microphones; having little more extra space on your mic will allow you to play with a wide range of sounds without getting over-bogged. The mic delivers some impressive performance. Read the full article
