LOUIIIIS? what do you mean, please, please stop this bs. yes, you'd brought her home to fill your growing emptiness and ease your guilt, i get it, but she was alive. she had to leave because of him, because of the abuse, and your neglect. you were so suffocated you didn't have her back until you had and almost died. she came back, broken but alive. she had figured it out, she made it work for herself. and he hated it. she came back to you, for you. but lestat views you as his property, still does. this bitch had abused both you and your daughter for years, he had almost killed you (not knowing if you'd even survive the fall), because if he can't have you, then no one can. if he can't force you, then he'll break you, like a child. both you and Claudia were oppressed to the point y'all had to take action in self-defense and flee the country, you have spared him, Louis, Loooouis. he came back for the trial, he rehearsed it, he watched her burn without even trying to save her. he only views her as his extension, her good qualities are because of him, his blood, and not whom she is apart from him. very logan roy of him to “admire” claudia's murder attempt, and defiance. if it's no about lestat, then it doesn't matter, then it's a mistake, a disappointment. if she's her own person, then she must leave or die. he makes her louis' lapdog, because my hysterical wife can't deal with an empty nest, abuse and depression, my housewife won't "pay attention to me", which i have 100% right to, as her husband (he complains to his, also abused, mistress). i mean, come on. Claudia had achieved her happiness/freedom twice, only for it to get snatched away from her at the last second. by Lestat, by the coven and Armand, and Lestat again.

Louis, he gave you to your and your daughter's murderer like you're a goat. he still thinks he owns you and has the right to make decisions for you, to punish you, to let you “learn”, like you're a child-wife and he's the all-knowing father. you stayed with this said murderer for years, not knowing the truth, because it was withheld for you as a lesson, he doesn't see you as an equal. you have wronged, Claudia, yes. many times. you have chocked her to save your abuser because you no longer know how to live without his suffocation, it terrifies you to get out of the boiling water. you're free but you keep drowning, in your guilt, in your attachment, trauma bond, punishing yourself. don't take the equal fault. y'all were forced to flee. do you hear me? both of you were forced to leave. she was forced to leave three times because of him! Looooooouuuuiissss aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah

they could've delivered this differently, i understand that this is loustat hurricane of a toxic abusive patriarchal relationship + the focus on that both Louis and Claudia are black and lestat as their white master, good exploration on that. and Louis as a character to say shit like this also makes sense (from his pov), his mother, his role in the family, scapegoat, all that., come back, separate, come back. like i said, he's used to this. but the takes on this scene online.....

Relationship Rant- Dinah Lance

I'm gonna talk about one of the most endearing relationships in DC: Roy Harper and Dinah Lance.

As I've mentioned in other posts, I dislike the idea of Dinah as the "Arrowmum", I think it's a disservice to her character and, generally speaking, when fandom applies the title of "mother" to a female character it tends to reduce them down to that (as I've seen a lot of posts doing with Selina Kyle). That being said, there's something undeniably mother/son coded about Dinah and Roy's relationship, in the sense of mutual care and respect.

As far as I can tell, the first instance in which Dinah and Roy were seem interacting at length is in Snowbirds Don't Fly part 2 (Green Lantern/Green Arrow #86), and Arsenal #1 further backs this up by saying Dinah didn't even know Roy's civilian name until that comic.

This sets the tone for their entire relationship, as Dinah's literal introduction to Roy is when he's at his lowest. A lot of other people in Roy's life, particularly Ollie, had already known him extensively pre-Snowbirds; they had memories who they could look back on as "before it all went wrong with Roy." Dinah, however, doesn't have that. There's no pre-addiction Roy she can look back on, no fabricated "better" version she can judge the later Roy based on those standards. Everything she's seen of Roy has been improvement- she's seen him at his lowest, and seen him fight to improve and better himself as the years progressed, even stating that she views him as the bravest person she's ever met.

But that isn't to say their dynamic is exclusively Dinah comforting him. Their relationship is built on mutual care and affection, supporting each other, such as after Ollie died.

At that point, they're really the only two people they can speak to about their grief. I believe Hal's dead at this point, or at the very least he's Parallax, and Connor had only been in Ollie's life briefly prior to Ollie's death. Dinah and Roy are the two people who truly knew Ollie, and are alive to talk about it, at this point in time, and as a result they are each others mutual source of comfort.

They also just have a good relationship in general. They're able to joke around together, and they can talk to each other easily-

-and it's so clear to see their chemistry with one another.

When Roy later joins the Justice League, Dinah's one of his biggest supporters, even before his official initiation-

-showing just how much she respects Roy and believes he can do well. (From Green Arrow (2001) #74) Dinah's seen Roy as the competent hero he is, and knows that with his skillset and sense of morality he is far better fit amongst the greatest heroes of Earth compared to the controversial, underdog team Outsiders (which, while I adore the 2003 Outsiders cast, is a good point. Roy was seen routinely unhappy in that team, and the Justice League was one of his biggest dreams). Upon his actual induction into the League, Dinah's the one Roy dedicates his success to-

-demonstrating just how much he appreciates her and her constant support (From Justice League of America (2006) #7), and she's the one who reassures him that he does deserve the title of Red Arrow upon him joining the League and feeling anxous about it.

And in Vixen: Return of the Lion, when Dinah is compromised, you can see Roy's panic and concern for her wellbeing-

-demonstrating just how much he cares for her. Dinah's arguably one of the only people who loves Roy the same way he loves everyone in his life- unconditionally, and without judgement or grudges- and so the concept of losing that person to which his type of love is reciprocated is understandably terrifying.

Overall, Roy and Dinah are one of DCs most endearing relationships that has so many layers- a mother/son dynamic, a mutual support system, and best friends.

Does spy x family/ twiyor give you fma/ royai vibes? I don't know if my brain is just addled by royai fic love, but they feel similar somehow.

Maybe it's the tragedy of war in both stories, the forbidden love (that's bound to happen between twiyor and if it doesnt I'll be mad) between two people with blood on their hands.

I've seen hilarious (sad) comparisons between Nina and Anya of cute girl and big white dog, but that's not really what gives me the vibes.

I'm now diving into the manga but I saw some spoilers for Twilight's rough past that made me go 'oh shit... things can get dark'.

I just want someone who's better at analyzing things and studying characters (love ALL your fics btw) to tell me if I'm out of my mind or point out what I'm missing.

OKAY SO LIKE I was totally against watching Spy x Family at first because it was "mainstream" (it was a very stressful semester of college in my defense) until I saw this fanart by @mochidoodle, twiyor paralleling that royai moment in fma. From that point on, I was a goner. So while I do mostly write twiyor fics at the moment, my love for them is largely colored by my love for royai.

First up, Loid and Roy. On the surface, very different people. One overthinks everything and plans to the tiniest detail, while the other lives off of 99% pure impulse. Loid is a very serious and private person by nature, and while Roy definitely has his solemn moments, it's kind of his whole game to act like the immature colonel playboy of the military before he brings down the entire government with his real motive ("surprise, bitches!"). The main difference I'd say is that Roy knows what he wants, and has a very clear goal how to get there. Loid doesn't. He's still torn between his mission and his family, and doesn't even know who he really is. Like we don't even know his real name lol.

Yor and Riza are also very different. Riza is the voice of reason with Roy (and he definitely needs it). Her personality is actually more aligned with Loid's in that way--quiet, serious, and reserved. Both are them are very good shots. However, she and Yor both don't very highly of themselves at all. Both of them are very compassionate and kind in their own way, and both of them have a soft spot for children. However, Riza's overwhelming guilt comes from her choices in the Ishvalan War, whereas I think Yor almost...intentionally blocks out the brutality of what she has to do to keep her brother alive.

Which brings me to the topic of war in both series (spoiler alert).

Both FMA and Spy x Family are very antiwar. Neither of them glorifies warfare. Casualties and consequences are not treated lightly. Progranda plays a huge role. Both series are trying to prevent another war from happening. For the sake of the argument, I'm going to refer to Yor as a soldier as well as Loid because she is still putting her life on the line for her country (she even says her job is comparable to that of a soldier in the manga). The biggest difference is that Roy and Riza chose to do the things they did in Ishval. Loid and Yor did as well, however it was more their circumstances that pushed them into that decision. Loid lost his mother as a child and crawled around in the streets for years before finally joining the military, only to lose everyone he ever cared about. Yor did it because it was only way to save her brother from literally starving to death. The war between Ostania and Westalis forced literal children to become soldiers (and that's kind of Endo's shtick--what war does to children). Roy and Riza...I mean, there's a reason why their fate is so tragic. They literally committed genocide. Yes, their reasonings are far more complex than this little lecture has room for, but it sufficeth to say that their burden is immensely heavy (I'm not even going to get into how Riza's burnt tattoo fits into the tragedy of their relationship and their choices because it's going to make me cry). But that is FMA's whole thing: Choice. What makes us root for Roy and Riza despite everything? Because despite impossible odds, they are working for a future where something like the Ishvalan War will never happen again, even if they end up being sentenced to death along the way.

Now going back to Spy x Family, the plot doesn't center around a global scale like FMA does. Yes, the tension between the East and West is a huge part of it, but most of the story is centered around one little family. It's important to remember that FMA isn't royai's story--it's Ed and Al's. Roy and Riza's character arcs are mostly complete even by the beginning of the manga. Loid and Yor's and Anya's are not.

But you really did hit the mark when you said royai colors our love for twiyor because both couples are two people who care very deeply for one another but can never be together. Roy and Riza can never get married due to military regulations. And the fake marriage between Loid and Yor will end once Operation Strix is finished (or so Loid thinks). But it's not really the mission or the military that's keeping them apart. One of my favorite royai authors @lantur wrote such an amazing royai fic outlining the fact that Riza being Roy's subordinate isn't actually the thing keeping them apart. Those two have such a painful, shared history. (I mean, he literally burnt the tattoo off her back after using the knowledge of it to commit genocide, for which Riza feels partly responsible). And yet they are fiercely loyal to each other. They don't need to kiss or fuck to know how much these two love each other. (On screen I mean...you cannot tell me they didn't at least have one night together).

With Loid and Yor, it's not nearly as heavy. But Loid (or rather, Twilight) does carry the weight of the world on his shoulders. He feels it's his sole responsibility to bring about a world full of peace, and he will not deviate from that mission. But of course he's getting more attached (who wouldn't) and he's eventually going to have to choose between his forged little family and the rest of the world. To most, maybe that's a simple decision. But you have to remember that Twilight is one who is going to have to change the most out of the Forgers. His decision to love them changes everything. It actually brings up an interesting point if royai did have a child. Would they still choose to put themselves on trial if it meant the possibility of leaving their child an orphan?

Spy x Family is about, well, families. The strength that comes from when broken people decide to heal each other and create a future for their child that's bright and safe and warm. And that directly parallels with FMA because it doesn't always have to be blood-related families, but the bonds you choose to forge (pun intended). And though I hope for royai to have a nice, quiet life in the country somewhere, laughing and growing old together, it's left ambiguous for a reason. Twiyor on the other hand, well let's just say that my heart keeps telling me that their happy ending is coming, but they're going to have to go through a lot of pain and angst and denial of feelings to get there. It's a comedy, so I expect Endo will get them together eventually, it's the when that's the mystery.

So I guess to wrap up this very lengthy answer, while royai and twiyor are different on the surface, they are similar at their core. Fighting for a better world, creating their own families along the way, and sharing little moments of devotion through their daily lives. Because though the series is nowhere near being done, you know Loid would look at Yor like she's the moon and the stars once he finally realizes he loves her.

HUGE DHMIS SPOILERS AHEAD

I think I might've figured it out.

I was thinking about the possible story with Lesley and how Yellow guy runs on batteries when I realized...what if the different episodes' subjects have something to do with it? So here's my theory: Once, there was a family (Episode 3). The mom was named Lesley, the dad was named Roy, and the kid was named David (the name on the tombstone and the D on yellow guy's shirt) (another thing to note is that in episode 3, Duck shows pictures of a random family, which could possibly be Lesley, Roy, and David). Lesley was at work (Episode 1) so Roy told David to make friends with the neighbors (Episode 4). The neighbors gave David a bird (little baby pigeon?) who flew into the street. David chased after the bird, but in a series of gruesome events, was hit by a car (Episode 5) and died (Episode 2). This is what we saw in that one Claymation scene in episode 5 (notice how panicked Lesley sounds in this scene, as if she's losing a son, which if this theory is true, she is). Roy becomes quiet and reclusive, metaphorically eating up whatever family they have left (just like how he ate the family in episode 3). Lesley, meanwhile, has to go to therapy (Carehound). This didn't work (notice how nonsensical the elevator's therapy speech is) so she decided on a DIFFERENT coping mechanism. She decided to bring her son back (like how Yellow guy brings duck back in episode 2 (which is also the exact same way that Lesley puts a replacement duck figurine there in episode 6 (notice how both times their heads get taken off))). What she did was she make a new version of David. A robotic version (Episode 6). She then decided to give her new robotic son (not biological, which is the reason for the "You're not my real son" outburst. Notice she doesn't say "You're not my son", she says "You're not my REAL son"). She decided to make a reboot of a show her kid once starred in. A show created by her husband and a friend of his. A show called "Don't Hug Me, I'm Scared." Red Guy doesn't know he's in a show this time, which is why he's more aloof now.

Then we get to the book. I have three different theories on what that book could've contained before it got shredded.

An incantation for the council

This is basically if everything I just said was completely wrong and instead it's some sort of demonic thing about something. Not much to say here, except that if it's true, then maybe it's a good thing that yellow guy shredded it.

2. The script

This one is one that I personally really like. It would make sense after all. The thing is that there isn't much to say about it other than that.

3. A scrapbook

This one might seem weird, but there's a chance that it's a scrapbook of David when he was alive. It would work with my current theory and I think it would also work with how Lesley acts. She would like Yellow Guy to know who he once was. The only thing that strains this option is why would she want the others to see it? Would it really matter if they did?

This multiple theory thing goes for the stairs too, because I have some theories on who could be a floor above Lesley.

The council

If you remember, in Episode 2, Lamp speaks about some organization named the council. I think at some point in Episode 5, someone talks about "the ancient ones" as well, but I can't remember very well. They seem like such weird comments that they can't just be jokes.

2. The director

There's a chance that Lesley isn't the only one working on this show. There could be a director that works on the basic scripts and then Lesley fine tunes them.

3. Roy

Seeing as Roy is Yellow guy's dad this could also be very likely. Who knows? Maybe Roy IS the director.

So that's my personal theory about the Don't Hug Me, I'm Scared TV show. I only saw each episode once, so it's not completely fine tuned just yet, but I still think it could all be very interesting, especially since there are still things I have yet to talk about. Here's a list of other possible things that could be important.

Why would an uncle be "in the distance" in episode 3?

The big boy and bigger boy rooms aren't just one off jokes, they appear in Lesley's model of the home.

Was yellow guy always smart? After all, he was only dumb because of bad batteries.

Why was red guy so desperate to leave the house in episode 5?

In episode 2 of the original YouTube series, Yellow guy says "My dad is a computer." Is Roy a robot too? Does the original YouTube series even have anything to do with the TV series?

After Lesley said yellow guy wasn't her real son, she said she was kidding.

Why can dumb yellow guy see smart yellow guy in reflections and vice versa?

The shovel appeared as a teacher in DHMIS 6 of the original YouTube series

Speaking of the shovel, did Lesley dig up David's corpse and use it to make the robot like how Yellow guy digs up duck?

All of these questions are being left without answers, which is why we all try to answer them in different ways. But we always say any other theory that doesn't go with our theory is wrong. That's just not true. As Becky once said in an interview, "We've read a lot of theories online about what it all means and they are all correct.

TWS FOR TOXIC PARENTING AND ABUSE(I THINK??), VERYYYYY TOXIC FRIENDSHIPS, MENTIONS OF DRINKING, UNHEALTHY MINDSETS, CODEPENCY???, OBSESSION, ETC

So here's a general dump about their personalities first—

Lila is pretty bitchy in general. She's got very little patience and isn't one for games and takes stuff very seriously. She can be very overly blunt, and refuses to ever talk about Skidad with Skid. But the few times she does bring up her past to Skid or talks to him about something, she's very bitter and basically vents to him even though he's like 8 years old. Though she doesn't vent that often to him and usually dumps most of her trauma on Jaune. Lila actually hates getting drunk and only resorts to it if her day was REALLY shitty. And she's also really selfish and isn't just protective—she's actually kinda controlling in a way. She absolutely hates her job and doesn't actually like buildings. She wanted to be a demolition worker, but her mom didn't approve and forced her to become like an Architect. Her own mother was very cold to her though, so she shuts people out in the same way her mom did her.

Jaune on the other hand is kind of anxious, and may or may not have an unhealthy attachment to Lila (and possibly an unrequited crush). She tries to joke around, but is often rudely shut down by Lila in the process. Jaune always attempts to be supportive of Lila, but either gives her terrible advice, or reluctantly indulges in Lila's own terrible decisions because she's too afraid to speak up. She's also very neglectful of her own son—and this is mainly because for whatever reason she's afraid of herself and parenting Ross in general, because she gets severe anxiety about messing up due to a certain incident in the past. So she often ignores him and just indulges in her own bad habits. She has a strained marriage with her husband who does like her and who she does have positive feelings toward, but her attachment to Lila always makes spending time with him a bit complicated, and he usually comforts her even if he doesn't understand why she's so obsessed with helping Lila out all the time. Jaune also dislikes Carmen here, but specifically because she's jealous of her and how good at parenting she is when it comes to Roy. And she's also somewhat awkward/bitter to Roy as a result because he serves as a reminder of what Ross could have been like had she been a better mom. Carmen does act friendly toward her, but is kind of unsure of why Jaune is so rude at her. Richard and Aaron also don't really get along here and have a small rivalry(/lh).

As for their friendship in general, it is VERY unhealthy. It used to be somewhat healthy when they were kids, but even then Jaune was always bouncing around coming to Lila's aid for anything (also Jaune dressed as a horse and Lila didn't actually wear a costume but she did dress nice for the grill). Lila basically yells at Jaune in episode 4 when Jaune apparently gets a doll just so Pump will 'stop annoying her'—and when the second doll burns, Jaune tries to speak. But Lila sternly cuts her off, saying that she's going to go drink some milk—which causes Jaune to nervously follow. In episode 5, Lila calls Jaune for help while basically having a panic attack and Jaune of course calls someone after Lila suddenly hangs up—but Lila only calls her afterward to say she's fine and just to not call her anymore for now, but when Jaune offers to come help, Lila's like "Ugh.. sure!! Whatever!". Jaune spends the whole episode nervously helping Lila look for her son and progressively gets more and more anxious til they find him and Pump, ends up actually full on crying when Bob is still alive, and begs the police to take her home during the last scene she's in. And in episode 6, Jaune tries offering to hang out, but Lila doesn't wanna do that, so she offers to drink which surprisingly catches Lila's attention—and they go to the bar off screen for the rest of the episode. But when they return, Jaune anxiously watches the whole confrontation play out and just says "..geez.." as Gregor walks away—but decides to take Pump back to his house so Lila won't get angry or annoyed.

for the au ask game: after his resurrection, jason sonehow became immortal. every time he dies, he returns to life shortly after. all of his "fake deaths" (utrh ending, battle for the cowl fight with dick, some new52 and rebirth stuff probably, etc.) are actually real deaths.

I reblog the ask game to get fluff and I keep getting angst D': Anyway,Jason is suicidal, that's canon. Like you can argue that he was suicidal since his later time as Robin, but it's just straight up text after he comes back to life. So him being immortal...

He takes it badly. Actually he takes it really badly. Like he's having a breakdown and wouldn't be surprised if he had several suicide attempts between the end of Under the Hood and Brothers in Blood. Like he was already not doing so hot mentally, but this is a suicidal man who cannot die and he very much does not care about his life. He's in a full manic episode time.

People don't realize he's suicidal usually. Because he annoys the shit out of them. He's manic and not the usual picture of suicidal. And like...the bats aren't good with suicidal people. Dick's probably the best...but he mostly helps people from a suicide hotline. He's helping people who know something is up and don't want to go through with it, or at least still want to fight for life. And Tim...well there was a comic where his tactic to stopping a suicidal person from committing suicide was to dare them to do it. Like...yikes my dude. He's not someone they think they need to help...and even then they see him stay alive after every time so he's fine obviously.

Jason has thoughts about being left to die in an explosion by both Bruce UtH) and Dick (BiB). His telegram to Dick was in between suicide attempts.

The first time since coming back to life where he isn't actively suicidal is actually with Roy and Kori. He didn't die in the submarine and having some actual kindness when Kori finds his body washing up onto her beach was enough for him even if he wasn't fully...not suicidal.

He was doing better about wanting to live, going from active to passively suicidal. His time after rhato Rebirth (Cheer, Task Force Z, Gotham War, this current arc) have pushed him back to actively suicidal because maybe one day it'll stick and if not he's getting shit done.

Nobody thinks he's been dying all this time. If they did...they'd be more uncomfortable with what happened or their own actions but not about what's happening to Jason. Secondary priority yet again.

I don't think this one would have a concrete end my friends. Probably just him coming back to life and thinking "Next time, maybe next time."

lukas question for you- do you think he knows that he's autistic? I don't know... anything about how developmental disorders are viewed/diagnosed in sweden and I'm torn between he knows/was diagnosed at a young age and doesn't talk about it or tell anyone, knows and will casually use it to get people to underestimate him (or anything else he wants), or genuinely doesn't know and thinks he's just a weirdo coder who wasn't socialized enough

I think Lukas got diagnosed pretty young - he took longer to start talking than the other children, got upset around large groups of people, had a narrow area of interests and had a lot of sensory issues around clothing. Being autistic is something he’s always been aware of and Swedish schools a pretty good with providing extra support to neurodivergant children so he didn’t feel “different”. I imagine his mum and dad were pretty good at making sure he had coping strategies and socialised so he wasn’t labelled the “weird kid” at school. Then his dad died and everything went downhill and Lukas spent all his time in his bedroom with his computer so when it came time to interact with people, he really struggled and started getting picked on. A teacher suggests that the annual summer coding camp would be good for him but Lukas is adamant he doesn’t want to go until his mum bribes him with some new computer parts. The first two days are awful and he hates it but then he meets Oskar and despite the other teen being very loud, Lukas finds it surprisingly easy to make friends with him. He’s very upfront about being autistic which doesn’t seem to phase Oskar, even when his new friend comes across as a bit of an oddball the more time they spend together. Then he’s got his own little gang of nerdy friends much to the relief of his mother, even if all they ever seem to do is talk about coding. 

Most of Team GoJo are computer nerds so it doesn’t matter if Lukas talks solidly for ten minutes straight about some random piece of code because everyone else is just as interested in it as he his. Nor does anybody care that the CEO wanders around barefoot because shoes and socks give him sensory overload or that he often comes across as “odd”. Being autistic isn’t something Lukas ever tries to hide or see’s as a weakness - his brain just works a bit differently to other peoples. 

It’s when the company starts growing and he has to deal with people outside of the GoJo bubble that being autistic is seen as being something he needs to hide. Suddenly the expensive PR person they hired is muttering about Lukas coming across as “weird” and wants to remove all his usual coping strategys to make him fit in more with “normal” society.  

You can’t wear sweatpants to a finance meeting because it won’t send the right message. You usually leave all the social stuff to Oskar to deal with? Sorry, thats not how it’s done so you better get out there and pretend you know how to relate to people. You need to stim because you’re having sensory overload? Yeah, you can’t do that anymore because you look like a freak. 

After five months of this and Lukas being so burnt out that he spends almost a week in bed they fire the PR guy and decide to do their own thing. Between them Oskar and Lukas devise a system so that if Lukas is getting overwhelmed or not hitting the right social cues, the other one can step in and redirect. It works pretty well over the years and they’ve got the whole “elusive foreign billionaire” schtick down to an art form, with everyone thinking Lukas disappearing from parties early is because he’s off on a hedonistic adventure but in reality he’s leaving so he can go to bed because masking is exhausting and he’s in danger of autistic shutdown. 

Then Lukas sets his sights on America and the Roy Family empire and Oskar is surprised he makes it out alive because it’s months of talking and trying to understand the social norms of a country that’s so different from their own and with a bunch of people who seem in desperate need of therapy. At first it’s fun making up fake stories and dropping little nuggets of information for Team Roy to dig up but it quickly becomes apparent that Lukas is going to have to suppress his autistic tendencies if he’s going to get the deal he wants. There’s no way Logan Roy would even entertain speaking to GoJo if he knew that there was something “wrong” with Lukas so whatever previous mentions there were of him being autistic get burried. 

Then Logan snuffs it and Lukas is stuck with a presidential race, Succession Bowl and the Roy siblings infighting. Oh, and his crush telling him he hates him whilst perched on top of a rock. Now he’s got to drag Team GoJo back to America whilst simultaneously figuring out which of the CEO candidates is going to be the least irritating to deal with. The Kill List is fun because he already knew who he was keeping but it’s fun to watch them all flapping around in a panic and trying to get on his good side. 

However it’s exhausting having to pre-plan all his social interactions, even down to the facial expressions he’ll use, and try and remember how to act with each individual person. Sometimes it goes fine but most of the time Lukas experiences an overwhelming sense of physical exhaustion to the point where he keeps trying to brush off Shiv and her insistence that he attends every party on the roster. He’s having more difficulty managing his emotions than usual and is prone to outbursts of anger and waves of intense anxiety. His stimming is off the charts, as is his increased sensitivity to sensory input, and he’s even more insistent on everything being his way due to struggling with all the change thats happening. 

Then the deal finally goes through and Lukas hides out on his private island for a month to recharge, barely getting out of bed or looking at his phone until Oskar comes to rouse him for the first WayStar/GoJo team retreat. 

So in short, yes I think Lukas knows he's autistic and is pretty chill about telling people but as times goes on he becomes a bit more guarded with who he tells and how much he tells them. For instance Oskar knows all his safe foods and can easily tell when he's masking but Tom will only ever know that the reason Lukas doesn't like wearing shoes is because he's got big feet.

I love your AU! I have a few questions about it though. Was Red Guy David's roommate before he was Red Guy and if so did he agree to be turned or was he turned against his will? Also how old is David in this (I know he's in college but what's his exact age)? How does Duck factor into the whole thing? and what are Lesley and Roy like before they died compared to after? plus how does the magic(?) work?

Ok, strap in! 

Despite how it looks from the "what the fuck David" comic, David does end up convincing Red to help out with his project, mostly via lying, and Red really not wanting to believe David's a bad person. Eventually though Red red sees/learns something that pushes him over the edge and he decides that he can't do this anymore and wants to back out. This leads to a fight that ends in David killing Red and turning him into the puppet we all know and love today. Red retains a good portions of his memories/personality though he has a lot of gaps that are getting worse by the day, he doesn’t quite remembers what happened to him, but does he know he's angry about it, and that he wants himself and the other puppets to escape.

As for David's age I don't really have anything solid, like 20-ish? but you can do whatever.

This is gonna be a little disappointing but Duck really was just meant to be some random homeless guy David killed because he didn't think anyone would miss him; alternative suggestions are David's grandparent or a teacher from his school. The main interesting thing about him is just that he was the first puppet David made and was really fucked up as a result.

I don't think either of David's parents were very good people, Roy especially (hence why David loves his mom more, lol). That being said, their puppet version are extremely different. Roy never spoke much when he was alive, but now he’s almost completely mute, and both of them are considerably nicer and more childlike.

Gore tw - As for the magic I’ve sorta kept it intentionally vague, though I do have some ideas for how it works. I think that the more parts of a person you put into a puppet, the more like them it will be, Roy and Lesley were dead for a while and had mostly rotted away, as a result aren’t very similar to their living counterparts. On the other end of the spectrum basically Red’s entire body was used, so he’s still got a lot of himself in there, though dying definitely had a negative effect on his mental state. David doesn’t particularly like graverobbing or killing people, so usually he’ll use one person for multiple puppets as he’s a lot less concerned with how the teachers come out compared to Red/his parents.

Based on epilogue Hunter, he carves palismen for a living. He's pretty laid back and is very fatherly to those around him. He's still got an adventurous side, but is quite ready to relax, at least for a while. His palisman is an opossum named Kip.

He's long learned how Belos' temper runs wild and has long been a victim of the man's wrath. He tries not to start fights, but will defend himself against anyone but the Emperor. He will lose a limb to keep himself or a loved one alive, and will willingly give his life to keep someone he cares for alive. He's not quick to trust, but he's fiercely loyal. His palisman is a desert cardinal named Oatmeal.

He's a Grimwalker based off the kind of biped demon that Eberwolf is, with a similar yet somehow more chaotic personality. He refers to himself as an angent of chaos.

Cursed after angering Belos, he's destined to always have an open wound. As one heals and scars, another soon opens. Due to this, he's extremely timid and cautious of the world, yet also nonchalant about injury that befalls him.

New to the responsibilities of being Golden Guard, he's a gentle soul who finds comfort in music. He plays the cello, flute, xylophone & is actively learning the piano.

He's the first successful Grimwalker made by Belos and isn't in great health overall. He's got a lot of allergies and autoimmune issues, but that doesn't mean he's not a spunky kid. He's relatively left alone by Belos, the Emperor using him more as decoration when he sees fit, even if it harms Jasper. He plays the guitar in his off time, and has a greater sooty owl palisman named Crepe.

After pissing Belos off and getting cursed with the same owl curse that Eda & Lilith have, he's used his newfound abilities to learn the gossip around Bonesburough. He's a bit wild, but knows when to chill out, and somehow knows nearly everyone… yet he refuses to reveal how he knows so much about everyone.

In his time, Luz had been completely manipulated by Phillip and joined his side. He sees her as an enemy, and has no recollection of ever being on the same side. He doesn't hate her as much as he does Belos, but he heavily dislikes her.

At 11 years old, he was lost on The Knee during the mountain training session. He's been surviving there on his own since then. He's extremely skittish and rarely speaks due to a mental block in his mind that completely stops him from being able to talk in times of high stress. He communicates more through body language, pointing, and other vocalizations.

He studies oracles closely, both due to his love for the craft & Belos' demands. Although he can only do tea readings at the moment, he's become proficient in it. He purposefully leaves Belos' readings open-ended so he doesn't anger or aid the man in any way.

Malachite🌿, 17, He/Him, Gay/Ace

Still actively working for Belos, he works as an assassin type guard for him. He works well with both poisons and swordsmanship, though if magic comes into the equation, he's pretty much screwed. He finds comfort in gardening, and hangs out often with the plant coven, along with Terra Snapdragon. He has severe epilepsy that Belos continues to worsen, and therefore finds himself with Hettie often.

Moldavite💠, 17, He/They, Pan/Demisexual

Despite having been trained to hunt and hurt, the kid has a love and knack for patching others up and healing them of their ails. He may not be able to perform complex magic, but he still does all that he can to help. His ocelot palisman, Epoch, helps him with simple spells.

Obsidian🕸️, 15, He/It, Pan

There's not much to him. He's just a feral kid with *way* too much energy. He has wings, though they're too heavy for flight. He doesn't mind having them, though, as he can smack people with them.

Onyx🫐, 15, He/Him, Bi

Even with his quiet personality, this kid kicks ass, though he doesn't enjoy doing it. Belos had raised him with a sibling, and once they were older, made them fight to the death to see who should be Golden Guard. Onyx won that battle. He and his mourning dove palisman, Pikelet, get through the harsh realities of the world one step at a time.

Opal☠️, 15, He/Him, Bi/Ace

He can see and hear the dead, and the dead can interact with him, though he cannot speak back. He suffers from insomnia and paranoia due to the near constant chatter of the dead and what they tell him.

Phantom🌹, 19, He/Him, Pan

He's a run away guard who joined the CATS as sOon as he heard of its existence. He's a valiant fighter and has a love for theatrics and dramatics. He's a bit of a flirt but an all around good guy.

Pyrite🌼, 14, He/Him, AceAro

The child has had it rough, as he knows Belos wants his death, yet he cannot escape. He doesn't trust the covenheads, fearing what they may do to him. Belos sees him as a failure and a weak link, as Pyrite is skittish and doesn't have it in him to hurt others.

He hasn't left the castle once in his life, Belos having scared and gaslit him into believing that the outside world was unsafe. It's gotten to the point that he rarely goes to any portion of the castle grounds that isn't inside.

He's a puppet from the Collector that's come back to life. He has his own thoughts and feelings, and he vaguely remembers his life before he was turned. Though he's still unsure of how to process everything, and is largely unemotional.

He's got a talent for potions and hangs around Vitimir often, though letting him into a kitchen would end up absolutely disastrous. He's a sweet, excitable, kindhearted boy.

He worships the ground Belos walks on, doing any dirty work the Emperor sets him to do with joy. He's been possessed by Belos for years, but he sees the sludge as a gift. Despite his possession, his actions are still his own. He's unreliable and reacts to everything with anger, he's loyal to only himself and the Emperor.

The Guard who doesn't Exist, blink and you'll miss him. Sugilite keeps to the shadows and keeps quiet, hardly interacting with the world. He doesn't get involved much with what goes on around in the Boiling Isles unless he's told to.

The other half to Bismuth, he's a bit more soft spoken (though he still jokes and messes around with his twin). He enjoys harassing Belos with Bismuth, though leaves his pranks to the Emperor.

Topaz🍇, 16, He/Him, Gay

Doing everything he can to look and act like his father figure, Darius, he tries copying the Head Witch's mannerisms to a tea. He enjoys working with abominations, even if he can't bring most of them to life.

Wehrlite🩸, 17, He/Him, Gay

oooh ok i have a roy question for you! you mentioned in your 'favorite thing about roy' post that him killing electrocutioner was in character for him (i think i agree), could you expand on that? also, regarding rise of arsenal*, is there anything else from it that you think has bits of good characterization, or at least could have if actually done well?

I'm gonna preface this and say I totally agree with you on hating Rise of Arsenal. I know some people really like it, and I can respect that, but personally I really didn't like it. It did it's job of making me cry (every time I have to collect panels from it I tear up), but other than that it was very much just shock value and didn't show much care for any of the characters portrayed in it imo. I also didn't like the way that Roy killed the electrocutioner, I said in my original post that it felt like a villain origin story and I stand by that, it reminds me a little of the Joker movie in some ways which isn't a positive.

That being said, I do think that Roy killing the electrocutioner was in character. I don't think Roy's a killer, which is what RoA seemed to imply (very "one bad day"-esque), but I do think that Lian's death would be the one instance he'd make the conscious decision to take a life. I'm a little tipsy tonight so I can't think of any other examples and I don't have the energy to go searching through comics so take this all with a pinch of salt, but the one example that comes to mind is in his Arsenal mini, where he teams up with Vandal in order to save Lian. Sure, he ends up switching sides mid-fight, but Lian's alive and there's a very real chance that he can find another option to save her (which he does). But I think that comic demonstrates that Roy is willing to bend his moral code when it comes to Lian. I mean, in that same mini it shows something similar, him taking a life in order to protect someone else in the Checkmate flashback in issue 2.

I'm not saying that Roy's an anti-hero, in fact I think he's actually a really good symbol of what a hero should be most of the time, he's a genuinely good man who gets back up when he gets knocked down, and while he does have a reputation of being I guess 'sleazy' he's actually closer to being a boyscout. I can't remember where but it's like that issue in Outsiders where Grace says that Roy doesn't belong in the Outsiders, he's too much of a 'conventional hero' I guess.

But I also don't think his moral code is as strict as, say, Batman's. I know that Bruce did initially want to kill Joker after death in the family, but that whole comic was kinda a mess (Joker being an ambassador for Iran will always confuse the shit out of me), and the main conflict of UtRH was Bruce not killing the Joker, so I'm focusing more on what happened than intent. Although, that is actually another good comparison point for UtRH and RoA. Bruce had Clark there to stop him, whereas throughout RoA one of the biggest points (which I hate) is Roy's isolation. Dinah, who's consistently been one of Roy's biggest supporters, is barely present, and most of the people in his life either dismiss his grief or actively make things worse for him, which really made it easy to kill the electrocutioner. Anyway, I realise I've digressed a lot from the original ask.

Yeah, I do think that killing the electrocutioner was in character for Roy. Again with the Bat comparisons, excluding whatever the hell was going on after Jason died in Death in the Family, Bruce has to be Batman first. Bruce can't kill the Joker, because Batman can't kill the Joker. Roy? He's always been Roy first, at least in my opinion. A lot of the time his identity's at least somewhat public knowledge (Istg there's a panel where he says that, maybe in Titans '99, but either way he literally just wore sunglasses as his disguise for a big part of his hero career so I mean. Who's he hiding from.) Ever since Lian was born, he's been a father first hero second a lot of the time. It reminds me of that video of "would you kill for your kid", and I think Roy would. I think that without the fear of 'what'll Lian think', Roy would be pushed past that point needed to take a life. I don't think he'd become an anti-hero because of it, I hate pretty much everything post-RoA in the New Earth continuity in relation to Roy, but do I think he'd avenge his baby? Yeah.

And for the second half of your ask, the thing is I don't per se think Roy's characterisation was the issue. I think it was mostly the characterisation of everyone else around him. Roy should not have been that isolated during RoA. Plus the writing was all shit, it was just an excuse to have Roy relapse. I'm not saying that Roy relapsing was unrealistic after what happened to Lian, but it's clear that the writers genuinely didn't care about telling a story of grief and addiction when writing it, they just wanted something was maximum shock value.

So yeah. In conclusion, I hate RoA, it makes me cry and IMO it was really shitty writing, Roy would've killed the electrocutioner but not Like That, and where the fuck was his support system.

In order: Fun twist but kind of expected (super powerful kid with a weird past and an already mentioned dead Big Guy), already knew about Titan just from previous convos with my dad (but that whole thing made me like Roy like, even more? again im championing chadroy now idgaf angela leave him ALONE), Alice is a fucking queen amongst the student body(brilliant play to steal notes I was like YES WIN!), and good lord the ending. Man. I wonder how much Nick actually found out in order to nuke his own brain in panic. He's good under stress. It must have been more than just Alice's mom being alive. I wonder if she's hanging with the current baddies crew (involuntarily?), was that implied somewhere because again very fast chunk reading, I miss things. Also, glad to see Vince really rubbing off on Nick with that self sacrificial moment. Looking forward to Nick being their "man in the chair" since obviously he can't come *back* to the HCP. Unless he's just gonna doink around at Lander but I strongly doubt it. Interested in seeing what happens with Vince in captivity. Why didn't you just go home with the Daniels, kid? Like I get you need answers but have you considered... Not? Being captured?

More thoughts as I think of them, Team One-wise I like Alex just in general but I hope Camille gets less... I'm sorry she's kinda one dimensional! A little bit weird vibes there! I don't trust "kind hearted dumbass" paired with "limerence queen" over here. I was told she gets more of a personality. I'd like to see it. On the matter of love interests, I thought Sasha was interesting this time around. Reconciling her bigotry by saying essentially "it's okay Vince is one of the good ones" (aka NOT ACTUALLY STOPPING HER BIGOTRY) is a neat skew and I think she suffers from The Super Ego enough to make her unable to see why that's wrong.

So I came up with another idea for a spooky month au

Title: Halloween.

TWS: TORTURE, INSANITY, TRAUMA, EMOTIONAL MANIPULATION, A DARK AU IN GENERAL, CULTS, MURDER,

The basic plot is—a very long time ago the cult took over the town, and due to their influence over the government and the people, they drove most of the population of the town to the brink of insanity or absolute insanity—with the many ways the cult would torture the citizens if they disobeyed in any way. However, Skid, who had been kidnapped and separated from his mother, returned 12 years later at the age of 20. And managed to finally get the cult to leave through enough intimidation and planning, meaning that this town sort of belonged to no one now. After all, they did kill the mayor in this au. So Skid, deciding to fix the mess that the cult had left, took over the government and became the new mayor.

Skid info: 20 yrs old. To this very day, he has no idea what happened to his mom, but he just assumed her to be dead. He is very polite, enthusiastic, still very obsessed with the spooky month, and is rather optimistic—though sometimes he can be a bit selfish. He still cares for the citizens though. Pump had also gotten taken away and mysteriously vanished, and Skid assumed him to be dead too, but from the looks of the au, he was wrong. Skid is still in deep grief about Lila and Pump "dying", even if he doesn't want to admit this. He is slightly scared of the citizens, but cares for them deeply, and will do whatever it takes to help the mental damage the cult left on them.

Pump info: 19 yrs old. He was kidnapped by a cult member, and was emotionally manipulated and sort of gaslighted into believing that everyone hated him except for said cult member. For years, he was ever so loyal to this cult member, until a few years later when he finally began to feel the spark of teenage rebellion. And at the age of nineteen, he decided he couldn't handle it anymore, so he decided to run away for good, even though his mind was screaming at him to go back. He happened to see a poster of Skid though, and was very delighted to know that he and the town were okay. Filled with hope, Pump had immediately began to run to the town, to see his best friend and reunite with him. In this au—he's a little shy, soft-spoken, hes fairly kind-hearted, though he can be absolutely brutal when he wants to, and has a bit of trouble with standing up for himself. He does eventually reunite with Skid after the cult member attempted to get him back multiple times though.

Hatzgang info: In their late 20s. Due to the shit the town went through—they're all a little messed up in the head now. They don't treat Skid badly anymore, due to being very grateful for him saving the town from the cult, but they are very morbid and will show their gratitude in weird ways. I wouldn't say their personalities have exactly changed—maybe just think of their regular personalities, but with insanity added into the mix. They aren't insane enough to actually kill anyone, but they will hurt someone if they want to or if they have to. They're also mischievous little shits, and kind of steal a bunch of shit now.

Jaune info: Dead due to a cult member.

Bob info: Dead.

Kevin info: He is on the brink of insanity due to what happened, and is very depressed now, working as a bartender instead of a candy shop worker. He and Streber were together for a short period of time, but Streber ended up dying due to bravely disobeying the law the cult had put up. Due to this, Kevin was put into a maddening grief, this being the reason why he's on the edge of insanity. He's grateful for Skid saving the town, but sometimes he doesn't recognize him due to his slightly damaged memory from an injury one of the cult members had dealt onto his head.

Streber info: Dead.

Roys parents info: Dead.

Lila info: Surprise, surprise, she's actually alive, but she was tortured by the cult members she had been captured by, and only finally retaliated by brutally murdering all of them. She is now insane, and is basically Bob 2.0. And basically, murder is kind of her coping mechanism now, due to being mentally unstable. She only ends up finally escaping when Skid takes over the town—and doesn't actually recognize her son for a little while when she returns to the town and begins to go on a murder spree. She and Skid have an epic final battle at the end when he has to stop her from murdering everyone, and only then does she finally recognize him—but she ends up being accidentally shoved into a rather sharp spike by Pump whom she happened to kidnap(along with Frank), and dies right then and there.

Frank info: Alive, but even more insane now. Then again, he already was. Mostly prefers to take out all of his anger on children he tries to kidnap and kill, but Skid Mostly prevents him from doing this. Frank sometimes goes through rapid mood swings, and will get angry at Skid for always stopping him, but he doesn't hate him. He just needs therapy, and probably a decent amount of time in jail for all of those innocent kids he killed.

Susie info: Missing and was seperated from Pump, though I won't confirm if she's dead or not.

Mr. Wonder: He's dead due to him already being old.

Facts about this au:

1. Jaune was killed right in front of Ross, and this was kind of the first crack in Ross's mental state, which is why he was so eager to go down the path of absolute madness.

2. Roy is the most absolutely insane among the Hatzgang, and often has to be actually calmed down due to his manic tendencies. He refers to him harming people as 'fun', and gets minorly upset anytime someone tries to stop him from having said fun. Usually, Ross and Robert stop him due to Skid kind of ordering for them to anytime he does try to have 'fun'..

3. Pump and Skid are the only ones who aren't on the brink of insanity, or who havent lost their minds to madness. But they are traumatized from everything that happened due to the cult, and do need therapy as well.

4. Skid has made Halloween a quite big celebration in the town in this au, and most of the citizens absolutely adore the celebration now. Skid is often happiest when it's October, and this is very noticeable.

5. When Pump and Skid finally reunited, Skid quite literally burst into tears and immediately hugged Pump, not being able to talk at all. Pump hugged back, and began to frantically cry as well as they both sobbed into eachothers shoulders.

6. Skid and Pump are still friends.

I don't have designs yet, but I will add them later.
