STAR-CROSSED
ch.4 | ideas
PAIRING : ̗̀➛ reki kyan x gn!reader | 873 words.
DESC : ̗̀➛ when the new school year starts, reki meets his seatmate for the remainder of the year, you. then with a school project on both of your hands, and spending almost every minute together, the fondness you share for each other begins to change to something different.
Tumblr media
The next day there's an awkward air wafting around Reki, with his inability to make eye contact with you and your severe lack of understanding of how this was a big deal to him.
"Reki, we won't get any work done if you keep acting like this," you whispered, leaning close to him so only he'd hear. "I don't want to be rude, but you're overthinking this."
He scratches his head as he lets out a quiet groan, "Sorry," he says softly, catching your eye for the first time that day. "I just can't believe I said that."
"Embarrassing?"
"Surprising." He corrected, "I know I don't think much before I speak, but–" You let out a laugh which Reki smiled at, leaning back in his chair as he tapped his pencil against his desk. "–Just know I meant it."
You lean back with a hum, looking down at your desk. "Will do."
The sun seemed to shine brighter that day.
After school, Reki had insisted on taking you to the park to start the project, ranting aimlessly about anything and everything as he rolled slowly on his board next to you.
"Do you wanna try this?" He asks, pointing down at the board, watching you look from his finger to the board. "It's not that hard."
You shake your head, "I've got this inkling in the back of my head that tells me I'm going to fall."
Reki shrugs, not pushing you any further. Instead, he kicks the board up, tucking it between his arms as he walks beside you. "So, aliens."
A snort comes from you, a confused smile painted on your face when he looks at you. "Yeah?"
"Do you think they're gray and green like the movies say they are?" He asks, not looking for a real answer, just for your opinion. "Like, I mean, me personally, I think they're holographic, like an oil spill."
You raise a brow at his words, nodding as you take them in. "Honestly, I have no idea." He huffs. "But I'd like to think they're multiple colors, or like– you know the movie home?" He nods. "I think it'd be cool if they changed color with emotion."
"Maybe we should buy mood rings as an example." He suggested blindly, not expecting anything from it.
"That's actually not a bad idea," you said, pulling on your backpack straps. "The only two things you'd need to worry about is getting them and whether or not we argue about being try-hards with our classmates.”
He barks out a laugh at your words, covering his face with his hand. "What if it adds points to our grade? If we got the teacher one as well, do you think we could?"
"Definitely not." You laughed, looking at him with a grin. "I'm not against the idea. It's just a funny thought."
Reki hums triumphantly, proud that he'd gotten you on board with his 'dumb' idea. "Then I'll keep it in mind."
He moves to turn the corner, breathing in deeply when you get to the skate park. "We're here." He announces proudly, hands resting on his hips. "We can work over there." He points to a square ledge tucked a little ways away from the other ramps.
"Does no one else come here? I wouldn't want to be in the way."
Reki shakes his head, throwing his stuff down before sitting, gesturing for you to do the same. "It's only just me most of the time. I've seen three other people... one of them kinda looks like you."
"That's... good to know?" You reply, setting your backpack down on the space beside you. "Uh, what do you want to get started on?"
He hums, looking at the miscellaneous pieces of paper you presented to him, pointing one out. "Maybe this, we need to hook our classmates, right? Like a sales pitch."
"Do you think we'd get creativity points if we took a stack of paper, slammed it on a desk, and said 'Aliens!' Or...?" He continues, giving a reenactment.
"I mean, we would get their attention." You laughed, writing down the idea. "This isn't that serious of a project, so we can fool around as much as we want." You told him, leaning back against your hand. "We can definitely ask the 'what color are aliens' question. I think that would spark a wild debate."
With a chuckle, Reki nods his head in agreement. "I'd love to start a war between our classmates. Maybe we should actually treat it like a debate or something. Like my side would be aliens being an oil spill, and yours mood colored."
You tapped your pencil against your chin before pointing it at him, "I love the way you think, Reki." You told him, narrowing your eyes with a smile. "This is great. We're gonna have the best presentation."
Reki smiles, nodding his head as you continue to follow his idea. Laughing when you added extra points and shouts of an example argument.
Warmth fills his chest when you look at him with a wide smile, and his eyes soften at your enthusiasm. He sighs when he feels the weight in his chest, realizing his fate was already set in motion.
Reki Kyan has got a crush.
Tumblr media
a/n: if you're thinking "already" it's a crush, they happen fast lol.

I wonder
Am I the only one who think that both Langa & Reki are at fault in the conflict? I get that people are very empathic with Reki’s feelings (I see the story of my life in his insecurities xD), but really, I also feel very sad for Langa. The guy lost his father not long ago and he finally began to live again through a new passion but ESPECIALLY because he has Reki by his side.
Sure he wasn’t very considerate toward Reki’s feelings concerning Adam and the trauma he had....but let’s not forget, Langa has also been totally ignored the days before without any explanation. And since he’s introvert, I kinda understand how difficult it can be to ask if something’s wrong even to a friend, without feeling to override Reki’s intimacy. It must have been hurtful for him as well. And we saw in the latest ep that without Reki, Langa feels like shit and at the end, skating isn’t even fun anymore.
Personally, I feel very sad for both situations, it’s different but still hurtful imo.

7 - "I dreamt about you last night"
I thought about Cindereki but said that would be too easy and expected. So no princesses today 😔 Hope you enjoy this!
---
Reki raises an eyebrow as Langa leans in closer, his chopsticks pointed at his lunch.
"Are you finishing that?"
"The lunch I'm currently eating?"
Langa sighs as he slumps back against the wall. His head is tilted back as he whines. "I didn't pack enough food this morning. Forgot half of it on the counter."
Reki furrows his brow as he glances at Langa. Sure, Langa is forgetful by nature, but it's unlike him to forget his lunch of all things. It's usually the first thing he packs in the morning.
"What's got you so distracted today?" Reki asks as he hands Langa a bag of homemade cookies.
"You."
Reki flushes at Langa's nonchalance. He knows Langa has the habit of saying things straight but it doesn't make it easier for him. Not when he says things like that.
"So..." Reki glances at Langa before quickly turning his attention back to his food. "How exactly am I distracting you?"
"I dreamt about you last night."
If Reki thought he was hot before, he isn't ready for that. His cheeks burn as he chokes on his bite. He chokes and coughs out a "what?," his eyes huge and staring at Langa. He's never had anyone dream of him; at least, he's never had anyone tell him they dreamt about him.
"Yeah, I..." Langa takes a bite of a cookie, his smile small and shy. "I dream about you a lot, actually."
"What..." Reki can't bring himself to look directly at Langa anymore, so he stares at their hands, side by side on the concrete. "Do you remember what happened? Am I at least cool in your dreams?"
"You're always cool, Reki."
Reki drops his head in his hands, groaning. No matter how many times Langa compliments him, he'll never get used to it. He'll never not burn red in the face as Langa leans closer, whispering to his ear that he's amazing and awesome. Reki will never not blush like mad as he covers Langa's mouth with his hand.
"Dude, just tell me what you remember."
Langa's fingers curl around Reki's as he pushes his hand away. His face is also flushed, a pale pink blush blossoming under his eyes.
"I don't remember much; the details are pretty hazy now. But I do know that you were there. I think we were walking in some sort of forest? Along a river too? We were looking for something, I think, but I can't remember. It's a little blurry. And," under his blue hair, his ears turn red, "I might have been a little distracted looking at you."
Reki giggles as his hand squeezes Langa's. He giggles as Langa goes on with his story, occasionally pressing his lips in a thin line as he pinches his eyebrows, trying to recall as many details as possible. He giggles as the dream grows more and more ridiculous.
"There was a giraffe. I don't know why there was a giraffe, but it was there. And it was talking. It told us to follow it if we wanted to find whatever it was we were looking for. And I think it was green."
Reki snorts as he covers his mouth. "I should draw that. A green talking giraffe; sounds like a pretty interesting sketch."
Langa glances at Reki, a smile pulling at the corners of his mouth. His blue eyes sparkle under the midday sun, blue as the seas, the skies, the most beautiful color Reki's ever seen.
"There's one thing I still vividly remember."
"What's that? Pink tigers?"
Langa chuckles as he shakes his head. "That I woke up before I got to do this."
Reki can taste the cookies on Langa's lips as he closes the distance between them. He can taste the sweetness of Langa's lips as he kisses him back. He can feel the sheer happiness from the smile that is pressed against his, giggles mingling.
"I guess you're cooler than dream Reki since you make my dreams come true."
Laughter bubbles out of Reki as he shoves Langa away, calling him a sap. Yet, when Langa pulls him back for another cookie-crumb-infested kiss, Reki doesn't resist, only melting under the touch.

↳ paring: Reki kyan x reader

↳ fandom: Sk8 the infinity

↳ Summary: Reki gets insecure about the words of others, thinking that y/n deserves better.
↳ warnings: you'll be making out on the bed so yeah
Tumblr media
You and Reki have been dating for a while but only told everyone recently. You would always hang out with him and Langa after school, skating or doing other things. Of course, you went on dates too. Most of them took place either at his house or at the skate park. You would grab ice cream or some other sweets on your way back too.
Everything was okay for the first few weeks but after Rekis race with ADAM everything started to go down hill. Everytime you'd come to 'S', people would whisper how you would be better of with Langa or anybody else but not him. You were pretty skilled, so people respected you there and of course you would have told them to shut up if you knew what they were saying but you didn't seem to notice it. Reki tried to ignore it and keep his signature smile but every time he heard it, every time he saw you skate with Langa and the others, looking like and angel, he started believing it more and more.
It all got worse when people at school started saying that. Langa was very popular and a lot of girls envied you for being able to spend so much time with him. Of course, you only treated the blue haired boy as a close friend, nothing less, nothing more.
-hey, y/n, why are you dating that red haired guy? - asked one of the girls you were eating lunch with.
-yeah, I meen you might have a shot at dating Langa since you're so close to him, why date another guy? - said another.
Your blood boiled at their words but you tried to keep your cool.
-Langa's not really my type. Sure he's a good friend but nothing else. I love Reki because of his personality. He's always there for me when I need him and always knows what to say to make me feel better - you answered smiling to yourself at the thought of your boyfriend.
The girls looked at you like they wanted to say something but didn't. You sighed, looking down at your food. You understood that everyone has a different taste but it hurt you when you heard people talking bad about Reki.
After school you waited out side for Reki to go home together but he was nowhere to be seen. You leaned on a wall, thinking that the teacher might be keeping him in class a little longer.
You waited like that for a few minutes until you saw Langa but to your surprise, only him.
- hey Langa, where is Reki? - you asked walking up to him.
-maybe he went home, he left right as the bell rang - Langa answered, looking just as confused as you.
Without thinking you turned around and started running to Rekis house. He would never leave without you and Langa unless there was a good reason. Now that you thought about it, he did seem pretty down the whole day. He wasn't his usual energetic self. He didn't act like the Reki you fell in love with and you were going to do everything to get the old him back.
You arrived at his door, taking a few minutes to catch your breath. You pushed the gate open, speedwalking to the door and knocking on it. His mom opened it and greeted you with a smile.
-Hello y/n!
-Hello Mrs. Kyan, is Reki here by any chance? - you asked
-yes, he came back a few minutes ago but he seemed down. He said to leave him alone- Rekis mom answered letting you in.
-can I at least try talking to him? - you asked taking off your shoes.
-of course dear - the woman answered with a smile.
-thank you Mrs. Kyan - you bowed and speedwalked to your boyfriends room.
You stood in front of his door your hand in a fist, thinking weather you should knock or just go in. You decided to knock.
-go away mom, I told you to leave me alone! - Reki yelled from the other side of the door.
-Reki it's me, y/n - you said, your face close to the door. It was silent for a second, then you heard shuffling for a couple of seconds until the door opened to reveal Reki with flushed cheeks and slightly red eyes. The moment you saw him you knew he's been crying.
-do you need anything? - he asked coldly, his smile no where to be seen.
-you didn't wait for me at the gate and you seemed sad the whole day so I wanted to know if you're okay - you said reaching for his hand but he snatched it away shoving it in his pocket.
-well, i'm fine, so you can go somewhere with Langa or something, you two are better off without me anyway - he whispered the last part hoping you didn't hear it, but you did.
You pushed your way into your boyfriends room, shutting the door and sitting Reki on his bed, you on his lap. Reki was shocked at you sudden action, he didn't know what to say.
-I don't want you talking yourself down like that! You matter to me, Langa and so many other people and if anyone tries to say otherwise they just don't know the real you. You're amazing, smart, skilled and handsome. - you put both of your hands on his cheeks, pulling his face closer. - I love you and only you. Langa is cool and all but i prefer you - you finished, pulling his lips onto yours. He was surprised at first but soon kissed back, wrapping his arms around your waist. You pulled him closer trying to deepen the kiss. His lips felt perfect. They always did, wheater it was a make out session or just a little peck, everything done with him was special to you.
Suddenly, you heard a knock at his door and startled, you pulled away.
-y/n? How is Reki? - his mom asked from the other side of the door and you giggled.
-I think he's fine - you said looking back at a VERY flustered Reki who's face color was matching his hair.
-okay, do you want something to eat? - she asked.
-no mom, we're good - Reki yelled back, pulling you closer to him.
-okay, you kids be nice
-we will Mrs. Kyan - you answered her not taking your eyes off of your boyfriend. You then heard steps further and further away from the room until they disappeared.
-well, what are we gonna do now? - Reki asked his cheeks still tinted a bright pink.
- how about we cuddle? - you suggested, crawling off of him and onto his bed. He smiled at you and laid beside you, wrapping one of his arms around your waist and used the other to stroke your hair.
-I love you Reki - you whispered
-I love you too y/n - he whispered back

Parenting beef and some teenage feelings 3/?
Miya gets in an argument with his parents and the next day he looks like this and, when asked, he gives this vague explanation:
Tumblr media
Reki teases him with the color choice but Miya tries to explain that those colors are the most bright that he could find. That should piss his parents off, right?
But despite his attempts to hide the meaning of it, it's pretty easy when you've seen who Miya looks up to. Dying strands of his hair those specific colors hadn't been rebellious, it had been an attempt to resemble his preferred parental figures.
"Awh! Our boy is a punk as well" Kojiro joked and chuckled warmly, ruffling Miya's hair. Kaoru slapped his hand and tidied the freshly dyed hair. "Don't mess with it, imbecile, he did a great job and you are ruining it"
Miya doesn't mind having his hair messed, not when he is being appreciated by his favourite people. And that just gets better as the time passes.
"I like the hair" Takashi points out that same day when they hang out. And Miya gives him a side look, awaiting for some joke. "The colors fit you"
"I don't think I'll be able to keep them. Our school is a bitch about this things"
Takashi chuckles at him and then there is silence for a bit. Miya feels something lay on his head, Takashi's beanie. Soft black wool.
"You could wear those ugly hats they gave us, it covers most of it..." Takashi's last word is slurred as he reaches forward to tug a pink strand of hair in the beanie, all as gently as possible.
Miya pulls away slowly hoping that it is a hot  day and not that the heat on his cheeks had been caused by his friend.
"Maybe I'll wear it then"
"Great, I'm sure I'm not the only one that likes the colors"
That moment was unusual, they normally threw a bunch of nicknames and swearing words when they were together (Ainosuke had pointed out that they acted like Kaoru and Kojiro when they were their age). But those few minutes had been different, more like they were before everything went south.
"Uncle Ainosuke wants all of us to have dinner together" Takashi says in  way back home.
"All of us? Who?" Miya asks curious but the silence that follows makes him realise. "Your uncles and Cherry and Joe? Does he want to start a fight or what?"
"Uncle Tadashi agreed with him because that way you and me will feel better or some shit like that?? Like, it won't be a concern for us that they hate each other if they start hanging out as well"
"Still, they literally hate each other. At least Kaoru despises Shindo and then Kojiro can't forget he did to Kaoru either" Miya tried to reason.
"Do you really think it's impossible?"
"No, but it would take too much"
"Trying doesn't hurt, does it?"
They hoped it didn't.

003 + joe and/or viktor (idk if i spelled his name right but. the one from arcane)
003 | Joe
How I feel about this character: I love him!! I misjudged him at first because I thought he was boring, but I came to appreciate him over time, and he became one of my favorite characters
Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: Cherry. There is only One Man for Joe and it is Cherry
My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: Okay but I would die for Joe and Reki!!! Their heart to heart scene gave me life and I REALLY wish we had more of that with them because I think the two of them really get each other in ways the others don't
My unpopular opinion about this character: I feel like I have one, but I have no idea which of my opinions are unpopular and which are just regular opinions
One thing I wish would happen/had happened with this character in canon: Aside from the obvious (matchablossom kiss!!!) I wish they'd given Joe more attention for himself. Because I feel like so much of what we see is him supporting other characters. Their past with Adam felt like it was more focused on Cherry, and I wish we'd been able to see more of Joe's feelings about it. And the same with the present storyline, I wish we'd seen a moment where Joe wasn't always giving and got to receive more.
Favorite friendship for this character: Joe and Shadow!! I just really like them and I think the two underappreciated characters should unite and be loved the way they deserve
My crossover ship: I don't have one because I don't like a lot of crossovers and I can't imagine Joe with anyone but Cherry <3
003 | Viktor
How I feel about this character: I love him!!! So much!!! He's my favorite part of Arcane
Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: Jayce! I just want them to be together, I don't want the divorce era unless they get back together at the end
My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: Oh, this is hard....Lately I've been thinking more about the relationship between Viktor and Singed, though, so I'll say that. It's mainly because I want to see more of it, especially in the current time, and see how their growth as people parallels (because you know it will, this is Arcane). I also feel like Singed acted as a father figure even beyond being a mentor, and I'm interested in that.
My unpopular opinion about this character: Again I'm sure I have some, but I don't know enough about what is and isn't popular
One thing I wish would happen/had happened with this character in canon: I want to see Viktor interact with more characters. We see him talk to only a few people, and most of them for very brief moments. A lot of those times, Jayce is there and acts almost as a buffer between Viktor and whoever else is there, so the moments are less focused on Viktor and more like "well, Viktor is here," like when Mel suggests making weapons, when Heimerdinger says to destroy the hexcore, etc. I want to see more of how Viktor acts with other people without Jayce there. Give me Viktor and Mel scenes, I want Viktor to meet Vi or Jinx or someone, I want to see more of who he is with different people.
Favorite friendship for this character: This....is also hard, because we barely see Viktor even interacting in a friendly way with anyone besides Jayce...But I think a friendship between Viktor and Mel would be interesting, and I think they have the potential to build each other up.
My crossover ship: I don't have one!

Actually i don't get Reki at all. Like even in the first ep he was worse even than Shadow and i'm not talking abt Cherry, Joe and Adam. And he was ok and loved skating. But like... if your friend is better than you, then you get depressed and making your friend feel guilty abt you not being good enough? I didn't even ship Reki and Langa, they are just giving me only friendship vibes, but i'm still sad, wtf writers did with his character?
Yeah, same. Like, sorry, I just don’t think Reki’s character can be redeemed for me personaly at this point.
Like what should I even stand for in his character? I do not respect his life position at all. Like I dislike Makoto for being a shadow and not wanting anything in his life, but hey, at least he’s genuinely happy for Haru’s success. I adore Rin who never gave up and dove into the hardest challenge possible from the start to get on Haru’s level, cause he wanted to swim with him for the rest of his life and he got there. And then there’s this..  it’s like.. he loves to skate, but apparently not enough, cause his doesn’t want it, if he isn’t the best at it, so he’d rather... not skate at all? He wants to be as cool and on the same level with “naturally talented ones” and wants to compete with Langa, but he doesn’t want to do anything for it or search for his own unique style or smth to beat them in another way? And on top of that he’s also sad about seeing Langa succeeding? The whole thing is... like.. no, thank you?
Like are they really gonna go with the “you made me want to be great at this like you, but if only you are great at this, than screw both you and this?” lolz. Even if they will go with the psychological block bc of his friend’s injury, it’s gonna be lousy af now. It’s like is there even a route left which could make him look...ahem... presentable at this point? Idk.
I also was right about the fact that he’s the type who prolongs the whining instead of doing things, unlike some other characters who were in his position too; realistic maybe he is, but I don’t want it, honestly, like I see such things every day and I do not like it.
From what I’ve seen in the tag some are already trying to apply here like 50 mental disorders to excuse him and stuff like “it’s realistic” and at this point I’m honestly used to people on the internet using mental disorders not for spreading awareness, but bc they’re thinking it’s “trendy”, which is a cringe galore and shame on you. But it still makes me kinda sad all the time. Also there’s nothing unrealistic about not giving up and getting where you want, it’s just harder for, to say, “ordinary” people, that’s why most rarely choose this option (although it’s for you to decide if you’re ordinary or not, cause everyone can be extraordinary, you just need to find it in you). Anyways, drowning in a self pity is not the trait I’ve ever found appealing in people, along with the constant comparing yourself to others.
Sadly many prefer to use these excuses to get out of everything along with being lazy or jealous, esp the young generation. At this point, it’s like the same thing as with this other fandom. Like, sometimes when someone is trying to hit someone because he saw that he’s more talented than him, that just means that he’s an asshole, there’s no need to come up with ridiculous excuses to justify this and try to make him a hero. And sometimes ppl are just jealous, as simple as that. And no, not everyone is like that. At this point ppl on social media are like... fuck your hard-working characters, who are inspired by talent and do not give up on trying to prove yourself even if the whole world is against them. Let’s promote being emo and how it’s okay to spend your life on walking around telling everyone how you’re a useless trash, like this will help you in life.
Also if seeing someone succeed, esp your best friend, makes you sad, might want to reconsider the way of living your life. Just saying.
Also since when you have to be the best just to enjoy doing what you love doing? I’m like... personaly I do not get it. Looking at my vids 10 years ago they look like utter trash, but I tried and tried and yeah, I might not reach some levels of mega talented ppl, but hey, I’m still trying and searching for stuff I can improve all the time and watch talented ppl tutorials like “holy fuck, you can do that?”.
But hey, at least he doesn’t want to only make boards, he wants to compete... (or does he? I’m honestly not sure at this point lol)... I mean, there’s... that. but I thought, when he’s gonna realize it, he’s gonna be back on track, but n.o. xD back to self pity. ok then. Some go like “its only been 3 episodes” and I’m like “this... ain’t a 24 episodes anime tho..(?)”.
So far I’m just confused about what are writers intentions with some characters are. Like the most interesting ones at least for me are technically a background for some reason idk. I was literally sad about the wasted amount of screentime on Reki being.. well, nothing new.
Sad part about this is that people like this also need a constant reassuring to the point of them just sucking your life out of you, too, so I honestly do not know how to deal with this life position. Ppl like this have a tendency to never be happy, so Langa would just have to run after him and feed him with compliments for the rest of his life to water his tiny self-esteem or say smth “don’t give up, don’t give up, fighting”? It’s like... well, ok. Friendship, yeah, but ship? Nah, not for me. Also I do not smell any huge romance there tbh, and from Reki’s side this is all just a mess tbh.
The saddest part was that he saw that Langa won after his yelling and he didn’t care for that. Like Rin was mopping bc he wanted to swim with Haru, so when he saw that Haru wanted to swim with him, too, that was it for him. And that’s the problem all the viewers who watched Free! got hit with while watching this. My DMs are literally all about “why do I not feel anything about them?” or “sometimes cute, but smth doesn’t hit me shipping wise”. Cause I think most expected for some reason that he would also put Langa first, but at the end, they’re not on the same track, bc their priorities are different.
I actually think it was just mistake for all of our Free! hommies including me to go at it from the wrong point of view and from the beginning expecting it shipping wise to be like that one other Utsumi’s work. I mean, she’s just a director there, not also on the storyboard or anything else. Should’ve gone watching it with a clear head. The main ship just does not hit any spots for me either. And my heart does not lie there at all. I do blame Free! for this, cause it’s like impossible to compare bc of those our scenes, I keep seeing, but at the same time, they do not hold up not to the dynamic, not to anything at this point. Like I do not know where they’re going with them, but this is just not my type of a ship in general and definitely not the one I can go crazy about. I honestly do not think 3 episodes can change that. It’s says a lot if at this point I do not even care much for their reconciliation, I’m like.. tell me about the seniors’ drama tho xD So I’ll stick with my side ships.
Also, unrelated to the question, but did Adam seriously just went and hit Cherry with a board in the face?!!!! (THE FUCK DUDE?) Like, this was definitely not how I thought this was gonna go. I also kinda felt like Cherry was in love with Adam in the past. All in all this was like a... strange episode, at this point I just feel sorry for my baby Langa, Joe and Cherry were very cute (esp at the end) and my god Cherry is hot, but like I also want something complex pls, so idk I’m  still waiting for the Adam/Tadashi shananigans.
At this point I’m like “I love watching this, but what am I watching?” haha supernatural skating soup opera it is then.
Also I just love Langa my dude, my man. How he’s such a puppy in real life, but so freaking hot when he skates??!!! T_T

Sports Anime Recommendations Part Seven: Sk8 - The Infinity
Here you have some eye candy and the typical sports anime protagonist friendship. (kind of, but at leastyou have a character who is versed in skateboarding and one who still has to learn it) If you are bored of sports anime about soccer, baseball our basketball you should definitely give Sk8 a try. I have never seen an anime about skateboarding before and honestly I think Reki's character development is one of the best. You don't see that much in shonen with one of the mc.

#1 "A snowstorm during a hot night"
PART 1
When I was a kid and watched superheroes on TV, one of them asked "What gives you happiness?" He said he would never retire until he knew what it was.... But after all, no one knows the real answer to that question.
Around five in the morning, in one of the houses standing on the hillside, the side door with a ramp attached at its foot opened. A boy with red hair, that was keep out of his eyes up by the navy blue headband, stood at the door and in one swift movement jumped on his skateboard and skated down the ramp, straight into the street, that was still lit by the lanterns.
Everyone has a different opinion on this matter.
As he glided along Okinawa's many streets, the rubber wheels of the boy's skateboard, combined with the cold asphalt, made a distinctive crunching sound that only stopped when the skateboard broke away from the ground.
To be popular in general.
Be popular with the girls.
Get into a good school.
To be respected.
To be able to help people.
Tapping the board into the air again, he turned it with his foot along the narrower edge three hundred and sixty degrees, missing the high curb in the process.
I'm sure that's what makes others happy, but unfortunately none of these things make me happy.
He landed on it's back again, riding further down the pavement.
For me it's skateboarding that's bringing me happiness—
"Wo-how...!" the boy wobbled, unprepared for the possible blocking of the board's wheel by a crack in the pavement. With frantic movements of his hands, he tried to regain his balance. It took a good while, but eventually he managed to win this unbalanced battle with gravity.
It was close..., he breathed out a sigh of relief, but his momentary inattention could do him no good.
"Gwah!" because unknown to him his skateboard lead him once again on the street's asphalt and in the next second, the red haired boy felt the back of his knees collide unexpectedly with some metal surface. His board ride out from under his feet and stop a few feet away. His body, on the other hand, spread out on the hood of the Polestar 1's bonnet like a starfish "H-hy...?" the sudden collision disoriented him slightly and he took a moment to collect his thoughts.
"Reki!" the driver's door opened hurriedly and worried voice of a well-known doctor from the nearby clinic reached the boy's ears "Are you all right?"
"Oh, onee-san, hey..." still slightly disoriented, Reki raised his head as clatter of heels hitting the asphalt sounded from the side of his feet. In his view appeared heart-shaped face of a blonde-haired woman with extremely young features, whose blue eyes could put the daytime sky itself to shame "Yeah, that... It's nothing. Everything is ok..."
"That's the pity" he easily recognized from her facial muscles movements that her worry about his condition had turned into pure irritation in a split of second "How many times can you be told to be careful? Especially at this hour?" the disgruntled flick of her tongue against his palate was followed by a nasal sigh. The blonde began massaging her throbbingly pain-ridden temples, visibly tired of repeating one and the same thing to the teenager. Her long hair, tied up in a thick braid, bounced delicately on the cold breeze.
"Well, probably a lot I guess, heh..." Reki rose his body to a sitting position, wiping his forehead with his hand. Noticing a mistake in his behaviour, he looked everywhere to avoid woman's reprimanding gaze.
"Do you know how many times per day I have to deal with hit-and-run cases at the hospital?" like a mother reprimanding her child, the blue-eyed woman slammed the door of the car aggressively and with disapproval painted on her delicate features, she move in front of the boy "I don't want to see you there one day, Reki"
"...You won't see me there..." Reki said those words as quietly as he could, not sure how his companion would react when they reached her ears. But she apparently heard them anyway, as she deepened her already intense gaze even further.
"You are very lucky that you have met me and not some—" before she could finish her thought, as if on cue, a black sedan car appeared from behind a busy street two streets away with a squeal of tyres. Its owner, together with a few other passengers, with a wild laughter moved up the street, not even thinking for a moment about slowing down, despite being in a built-up area "Exactly. A madman" without looking away from the teenager, the blonde crossed her arms under her breasts and raised one eyebrow, as if to ask him non-verbally if he had looked carefully at the evidence of the seriousness of her statement.
"Heh, well, I admit it. I'm sorry..." he bowed his head with a beaten dog's face, scratching his nape nervously "I will be careful next time"
"You always say that, you liar" standing in front of the bonnet of the car, she leaned toward the boy, that at first seemed surprised but not much later has started feigning indignation with a bewildered face.
"But now it's for real!"
"Yeah, sure. I believe you" straightening her back, the woman rolled her eyes and unclasped her hands. Her feet, trapped in black stiletto heels, brought her closer to the skateboard, which then she grasped in her tiny hands "By the way. How are your little sisters? Did the medicine I prescribed worked?
"Yes! Saying 'it worked' is an understatement! Thanks to your remedy it was already much better by the next day!" the boy smiled widely and joyfully, springing his legs as he jumped from the bonnet of the kombi. He approached the blonde with a leap in his steps "Everyone could finally get a good night's sleep because my sisters weren't crying anymore"
"It's good to hear" a gentle smile appeared on the woman's lips as she handed the object into the owner's own hands. She slipped her already free hand between the boy's unruly red curls and stroked them affectionately "But now I believe you should keep going, shouldn't you? Oka-san is probably getting impatient waiting for you, and 'S' starts in exactly half an hour."
"Holly cow! Really?" the same hand she had used to brush his hair a moment ago, was now positioned in front of his face so that he could freely check the time on the watch fastened on the wrist. Once he had succeeded in doing so, an expression of horror appeared on his face, after which he almost immediately jumped on the board and set off towards the designated spot "Here I go then!"
"Just be more careful out there! Don't end up like last time!" the blond-haired woman approached the car door, not even for a moment taking her blue eyes off the boy.
"Sure!" he replied without turning back, raising only a thumb up above his head. The woman, on the other hand, let out an amused breathy laugh through her red lipstick-painted lips and nodded slightly. She stood like that for a long moment with her hand leaning against the roof of the car, beating a rhythm with her fingers against the metal until her young friend disappeared behind the corner of the building.
"I'm keeping my fingers crossed..." she reached for the handle, but before she could pull it, she felt an unpleasant shiver run down her spine. It was as if her body was warning her of someone's unwanted gaze focused on her. With a sudden movement of her head, she looked behind herself and started checking nervously her surroundings, which were still covered in darkness. Although this was not the first time she had felt she was being watched, she always had the same feeling at such a moment - helplessness. Like helpless prey, unable to see the predator lurking in the darkness, ready to attack.
Oh, come on girl... Instead of standing like this, you should get out of here as soon as possible...
Seeing no one, she swallowed her saliva with difficulty and, wanting to get rid of this horrible feeling as soon as possible, she got into the car.

"And yet we see each other again"
The regular tapping of the black heels of the irritated woman was in itself a reminder to the battered boy standing before her. She didn't even have to ask him about the outcome of the race. His expression alone, his swollen hand and the general state of his clothes told her everything.
"Well, I know, but it's not my fault, okey?" with the most glummy expression she'd ever seen, Reki walked over to the medical coach standing to the side of the desk, dragging his feet behind himself. Without thinking much, he ploped down on it and hunged his sick hand down over the edge "It's just that... Shadow used those lousy tricks of his and you know..."
"It's never your fault, Reki" he woman sighed heavily, rising from the swivel chair. Watching his companion markily out of the corner of his eyes as she just approached a series of glass cabinets lined up against the wall, he paid particular attention to her limping gait. It wasn't the first time he'd caught himself observing her ailing leg, but every time in the past he'd asked her the reason for the injury she'd quickly dismissed his curiosity with a wave of her hand. She always avoided this topic like a fire, so he decided not to start it this time also knowing that he would not get a concrete answer anyway "And yet you always let yourself be carried away by your emotions and you always end up here"
"If you're insinuating that I'm a hothead, then you're wrong, Carly-onee-san" the red-haired boy pouted.
"We definitely see things differently" she sighed shrugging her shoulders and opening the glass door with the key hanging around her neck. Retrieving a bandage, medical forceps and scissors from the cupboard, she reached into the drawer below for a vial of saline and gauze "You may claim that you skateboard for fun, but nevertheless there's always something that drives you to do your best... And you proved it with your performance today, for example"
"What do you mean?" Reki raised himself to a sitting position, looking at his companion questioningly.  Without bothering to close the open piece of furniture, the woman turned back to her patient on the heels of her shoes.
"I mean that if it was indeed as you claim then you would have simply laughed Shadow off and not challenged him to a beef" with a slow step she approached the boy and began to put away the necessary assortment on the metal treatment table. Finishing up, she pulled the office chair over to the bad and sat down on it, with a heavy sigh "Sometimes I really get the feeling that you're covering yourself with this whole 'fun' of yours just because you're not sure of your skills"
"That's not the reason..."
"That is clearly the reason, Reki" Carly said firmly furrowing her eyebrows. A look of regret than graced her features, which only start to deepen with every second of gazing at the sullen face of the red-haired one "but" finally, she forced her lips to curve into a serene smile as she lifted the amber-eyed boy's lowered chin with a index finger "Don't worry about it and remember that you are an amazing skater in my eyes, and I will always be your number one fan"
"It's good to know that at least you think of me that way..." she extended her hand out in front of her in anticipation of his, which he immediately put in her, without the slightest problem receiving the message she was sending with that gesture. The blonde got down to work almost immediately.
"But now you at least know what tactics Shadow uses during the beef" rolling up the sleeve of the teen's sweatshirt, she took the time to glance at him from under her eyebrows. She was glad he wasn't looking straight at her at that moment, because she wasn't even trying to hide her true emotions that had just tugged at her heartstrings. Although there was still a gentle smile on her lips, deep compassion flashed in her eyes.
"Unfortunately I found out it the hard way" her eyes focused back on clining and sanitising the scratches on the boy's forearm.
"And now to avoid another accident you must find a way to escape these 'lousy tricks' of his" she decided to change the subject slightly, while focusing even more on cleaning and disinfecting the bigger wound. Once finished, she reached for a bandage and, placing one end of it on her companion's arm, she began to efficiently wrap it around it.
"Better said than done—Ow!" the boy ended his statement with a groan of pain as, with an expressionless face, Carly mercilessly tightened the bandage on his ailing limb.
"If this is how you would always approach things, you'll never develop your skills" he breathed a sigh of relief when she finally loosened the material, continuing to wrap it around his injured wrist a lot moredelicately "You need to start learning from your losses because—"
"I know, I know" he muttered under his breath, looking away. The woman, who had been interrupted in mid-sentence, merely looked at him expectantly "Losing is part of winning, because it gives us knowledge that we can use later to win"
"Exactly, and by the way, one should not be impatient either, Reki" a smile full of maternal warmth crept onto her lips "Once you master this, victory will come to you on its own"
