I'll play devil's advocate for the large trucks for a moment here.
people keep posting lowered (intentionally, as a style thing) trucks as the optional truck. while yes, the modern truck is a grotesque status symbol in most cases, picked out solely to prove something, by people who literally use it like a fucking sedan...
there are practical reasons for lifts, usually involving the fact that when a truck is loaded, the wheel clearance decreases and you NEED to not have your chassis dragging on your wheels. and these trucks are still dangerous. this is a simple phenomenon you can see even in small cars (prowler is comically low but I noticed it when moving one time; I pulled the lifted springs shortly after bc they were shot anyway but I dunno if she'd have cleared the wheels otherwise). trucks for work do NEED to be a certain height for certain applications.
they're not very fun to drive so I have no fucking idea why you would ever buy this shit for pleasure. I briefly drove a Chevy 2500 to bring a quarter of my car to the body shop. it rides like an impala on stilts (aka with an insufferably high center of gravity). the visibility is... okay, I guess.
part of the issue is also the fucking inflated, hideous beveling and making every car look like as large as physically possible. blah blah safety blah blah but you're shrinking visibility from the inside and adding to curb weight and height.
point being, even this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
is a practical height, unfortunately, and that puts you in the kill zone.
this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
is not. this is excess. this is fucked. the only people who need this kind of height have very very very particular applications that aren't going to the fucking mall with your 3 dipshit kids.
bottom three are all the same truck (silverado 2500s), first one is the smaller 1500.
here's what they looked like in the 1990s (albeit their towing capacity was about half of their modern iterations) to compare size and styling:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
honestly I wish these fucking things just needed extra certification ala a CDL but lower grade than even a B-class. the inconvenience of extra drivers ed and sitting in a DMV would do a lot, I feel like, for deterring unnecessary purchasing of these things. plus, maybe it would fucking hammer home how careful you have to be driving them because of that decreased visibility and increased size.

How to get a commercial driver's license in 2020
What is a CDL license?
CDL stands for Commercial Driver's License. A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is a driver's license required to commercialize a large, heavy, or placard dangerous goods vehicle in the United States. There are several types of commercial vehicles (CMVs) that require the driver to hold a valid CDL. Drivers must obtain one or more special approvals for air brakes, hasmats, tankers, passenger cars, etc. to drive trucks with double or triple trailers, trucks with tanks, trucks carrying dangerous goods, etc. It may be. Passenger car. Each type of CDL and approval requires passing a skill test and, in some cases, a written test. People usually ask questions like how to get a CDL? Or how do I get my CDL license? CDL License Acquisition Overview All license classes (A, B, and C) have the same basic requirements. However, there are additional items for each license class. These requirements are outlined in their respective sections.
Minimum requirements:
You must have a valid non-commercial driver's license before you can apply for a CDL.
You must have at least 1-2 years of experience, but it depends on the state you live in.
The minimum age to drive in the state is 18 and you cannot apply for CDL before that.
The minimum age required to drive an interstate highway and transport chemicals is 21 years.
By law, you must provide proof of citizenship and permanent residence. Includes social security card, birth certificate, valid passport, and green card.
You need a sufficient level of efficiency to speak and read English.
Be sure to submit your DOT medical card. This also requires DOT physics.
Some states offer a complete CDL training course for issuing licenses, which is mandatory.
Federal CDL Requirements:
Before applying for a CDL, you need to obtain a CLP (Commercial Learner's Permit). It takes at least 14 days and a road skill test to start with some basic driving knowledge tests. Meanwhile, FMCSA has issued the following additional compliance requirements:
According to the Commercial Vehicle Safety Act of 1986, a commercial vehicle driver cannot have more than one CDL at a time. This prevents the driver from hiding the poor driving record and applying it in another state.
The driver cannot send text messages while driving the vehicle.
All commercial drivers are required to prove their medical status and approve it from the National Medical Registry examiner.

CDL Practice Test Tanker & My Commercial Driver’s License
The expression "CDL" represents Commercial Driver's License. To drive a business engine vehicle in the United States, the driver must hold a legitimate Commercial Driver's License, or "CDL." Class An and Class B are the two fundamental kinds of CDL licenses. In the segment underneath, we will clarify the contrasts between the two sorts.
What Sort of CDL Permit Do I Need?
While the sort of permit you're searching Tanker Endorsement Practice Test for relies upon what kind of work you're getting into, Roadmaster courses are outfitted towards getting your Class A CDL, which is required for over-the-street (OTR) Professional Truck Drivers. Since April of 1992, the total of what drivers have been required to have a CDL to drive a Commercial Motor Vehicle. Tractor-trailers require propelled abilities and learning well beyond those needed to drive a vehicle or other lightweight vehicle.
Vehicles requiring a Class A permit are     principally tractor-trailers driving long separations. This permit offers     the most openings for work and procuring potential.
Vehicles requiring a Class B CDL permit may incorporate     transports, dump trucks, tow trucks, conveyance trucks, and waste     vehicles. These sorts of driving employments usually pay not as much as     Class A tractor-trailer driving occupations pulling cargo crosswise over     state lines.
For What Reason Do I Need a Class a CDL License?
By requiring a Class A CDL permit, the FMCSA and DOT guarantee that dangerous drivers are not behind the wheels of business vehicles. The Commercial Motor Vehicle Safety's Act will likely improve interstate wellbeing by ensuring that drivers of huge trucks and transports can work those vehicles and to expel perilous and unfit drivers from the expressways. The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has created and given benchmarks for testing and authorizing business engine vehicle drivers.
In addition to other things, the models expect states to give a Class A CDL to a business engine vehicle driver only after the driver finishes information and aptitudes tests regulated by the identified with the kind of vehicle to be worked. Drivers need a CDL permit if they drive interstate, intrastate, or outside trade.
How Would I Get My Commercial Driver's License (CDL)?
States can give a CDL permit only after an effective composed, and the driving test has been finished at a state or endorsed testing office. To get a Class A CDL License, you have to have at least 160 hours of consolidated study hall and in the driver's seat preparing driving a truck. Truck Driving Schools, as Roadmaster, show you all that you have to know to get your Class A CDL permit in as meager as three a month. When you have your Class A CDL, you are prepared to make a beeline for your new business for extra preparing.

How do you get ahead in this time of transition? Glad you asked!!!!! I'm soooo Grateful, started working with my very first CDL job! I choose to do it this way because, I plan to retire in a few years with property and crypto etc., and investments!!!! I have my class B CDL which allows me to drive a (Class B – Permits the holder to operate any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 pounds or more, any one of those vehicles towing a vehicle that does not exceed 10,000 pounds GVWR, and any vehicle designed to transport 24 passengers or more, including the driver)....Now I will be driving busses p/t "school busses, party buses, luxury buses limousines for extra money when I'm not driving my tractor trailer). I have a few weeks of training for my class A since I already have my class a with endorsements on both my class A and B. my age, changing career's means getting all tue endorsements and keep track of renewal to not lose my license and also my security guard license. Listen, leave yourself single in over 50 long enough to save your money, work hard manage your finances. Take some financial courses if you're bad with money and learn to say "Not, I don't have money to give/loan or give away." Then you can retire comfortably. Okay. A Class A driver's license in Texas allows a person to drive large vehicles with a weight rating of 26,001 pounds. Applicants undergo an application and testing process similar to that for a standard driving licence except the practical test is conducted in a large vehicle. https://www.instagram.com/p/Cc0nbMvudVQHzQKXQE08OtjUUS7Y6knCFjbYPo0/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

If I Hold a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), What Should I Do If I’m Charged with a DWI?
If you hold a commercial driver’s license (CDL) and you professionally operate a vehicle as a truck driver, limo driver, taxi driver, or Uber or Lyft driver, your license is more than a luxury — it’s your business or career. If you get convicted of a DWI, it could mean the end of your professional license and, possibly, your livelihood.
Tumblr media
With so much on the line, it’s important to understand that the penalties for DWI are different for civilian drivers than they are for commercial drivers. At the time of arrest, many commercial drivers make critical mistakes that put their careers on the line.
Commercial drivers are subjected to greater scrutiny because of their greater level of responsibility. Here, we’ll take a closer look at the penalties for DWI for commercial drivers and help you get a better understanding of the measures you need to take when you’re pulled over, when you’re arrested, and after you’ve been charged with a DWI.
The Penalties for Commercial Drivers Convicted of Driving While Intoxicated
Civilian drivers are charged with DWI if their blood alcohol concentration (BAC) is 0.08% or greater. CDL holders are held to a higher standard.
The legal limit for CDL holders is 0.04%. If your BAC is equal to or greater than 0.04%, you will be charged with a Class B misdemeanor (a first DWI offense), which carries a penalty of up to 180 days in prison and up to $2,000 in fines.
A first-time conviction also carries a one-year CDL suspension. However, any CDL operator charged with DWI while transporting hazardous cargo will face a three-year suspension.

Taking the Right Measures
Commercial drivers can take the right measures to make sure they don’t make their situation worse when they are pulled over. When the officer approaches your cab or vehicle, cooperate with him or her as best as you can, but make sure you exercise your right to remain silent.
The information you voluntarily provide could potentially be used against you. While you should cooperate, don’t provide any additional information that could incriminate you or give the officer probable cause to request that you take a field sobriety, breath, or blood test.
If the officer asks you where you’ve been, don’t tell him or her. If you are asked whether you’ve been drinking, don’t answer. If you are arrested, no matter what else you do, contact an experienced, qualified, and tenacious attorney to help you protect your rights, your freedom, and your career.
Stay Calm
We understand that as a CDL holder you may feel more anxious about getting charged with a DWI. There’s a lot more that’s at stake, and law enforcement officers will often remind you of that very fact in order to extract more information.
Don’t get trapped.
Tumblr media
Give the officer only the required information and stay calm in the meantime. Do not argue with the officer on the scene and do allow yourself to be arrested if that seems like what will happen. There will be both a place and time to fight the charges, and after being arrested on the roadside is neither of those.
Once you post bail, hire an attorney you can trust. The right lawyer will guide you through the process and give you the peace of mind that comes from knowing that you have a fighting chance. Having a capable, relentless lawyer gives you confidence that justice will be done and your rights won’t be trampled on by the court system.

You have decided the time is right to move on with your dreams for the future. Those dreams include getting your CDL and becoming an over the road truck driver. You are excited and with all the Tacoma trucking schools, you are sure you will find what you want and need.
The only issue is how will you pay for it? What does it cost to get a CDL and what is the payback? It can be a very expensive proposition for some people, but there is also good news for others. It all depends on your background and what driving school you choose to attend.
The Seattle – Tacoma area is a home base for a large number of truck driving schools with a variety of programs for financing and various levels of quality and job placement programs. The financial considerations for someone wanting to attain either a Class A or a Class B CDL in this area range from full payment of tuition, to scholarship, grants, loans, and free training.
We will look at each of these different possibilities and what they could mean to anyone wanting to get a CDL in the Seattle – Tacoma area. In addition, the good news is there continues to be a serious need for CDL and over the road truck drivers nationwide, but particularly in northwest Washington state, a major shipping hub for the U.S. No matter how you do or don’t personally finance your CDL truck driver trainer, the reward once you have your license will be well worth the time, effort and money.

Questions to Explore
Before you look at how you will finance your CDL, you have to know how much it will cost. Tuition is only one aspect of what it will cost. Even if tuition is free, as it is at some company-owned or supported schools, there are still other expenses. These are the questions you must first research:
The schools closest to you in the Tacoma and Seattle areas.
What do these schools charge for tuition?
What are the additional expenses such as books, tablet, supplies?
How long does the training take and what CDL will I have when completed – and A or a B?
Is the school private or public?
Is the school certified?
Is the school owned by or subsidized by a specific trucking company?
Does the school offer financial aid assistance or assistance in finding it?
The answers to these questions are critical to ascertain how you will pay for your Tacoma CDL training. Each of the answers to these questions impacts the kind of financing you can get. Vocational public schools also offer CDL training and knowing what kind of school it is can affect the grants and loans you can get for that school. If the school is not certified or accredited than government support for your training will be out of the questions.
Tumblr media
Let’s look at the possible answers to these questions:
What do these schools charge for tuition? – this is dependent upon whether the school is public or private, a vocational school or owned by a trucking company. Tuition can run from anywhere from $3,500 to over $5,000.
What are the additional expenses such as books, tablet, supplies? Depends on the school.
How long does the training take and what CDL will I have when completed – and A or a B? Depends on the school.
Is the school private or public? This determines some of the types of financial assistance that are available.
Is the school certified? Must be in order to get any government assistance.
Are there scholarships available? These may be offered by a variety of sources including truck companies, private institutions, and associations. These do not have to be paid back and is based on need or merit.
Are there grants available? These can come from private organizations, usually with some tie to the industry. These do not have to be paid back either. There are also government grants like the Pell Grant and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
Are there loans available? These come from financial institutions, usually local and usually in an agreement with the school.
Government guaranteed student loans through Federal Student Aid and interest rates are usually lower but these loans cannot be forgiven even in bankruptcy. There are also government grants through the Workplace Investment Act.
Are there tuition reimbursement programs available? Yes, through the trucking company you work for after attaining your CDL.
Is the school owned by or subsidized by a specific trucking company? Many of these schools either train for free and you go to work for that company, or they do it through tuition reimbursement. Either way, tuition is free.
Does the school offer financial aid assistance or assistance in finding it? Choose a school with professionals on staff to assist you with this.
