Happy Wednesday fandom :) I love this episode. The aftermath of 5x01. I remember being so very excited every week cause I knew this was their season. I was so giddy for every era we were getting. This ep started the hurts so good/pining era. Nothing better than having your ship on the cusp and getting excited every ep to see what comes next. Return of Genny in this one yay missed her. Imma need more in s6. Looking at you writers.
5x02 Labor Day
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We start the ep with a guilt ridden Lucy bringing Chris home to her apt. We all know at this point that’s the reason they’re still together. She nearly cheated on the man for loophole sex with her best friend. Not only that but almost partook while he was dying in the process. Still glad it didn’t go down that way but guilt is the main factor here IMO. Lucy is getting him settled in when there a knock at the door. Love how this detective comes up and doesn’t even care she’s interrupted them.
Legend already haha Says her name is Detective Misha Porter. She teaches at the UC school In Sacramento. Lucy looks star struck saying she knows who she is. Mischa said she’s been doing recruiting and her name keeps coming up. Of course it does Lucy is amazing. Saying she’s worked several impressive OPs. That makes for an ideal candidate. That she is here to recruit her.
Lucy looks guilt ridden once again as she looks at stupid Chris. Just holding her back in so many ways it’s painful. She asks when classes start? Porter tells her next Monday. Saying it’s short notice but they had someone fall out. She’s sure her sergeant would approve it. Lucy lights up for first time at the mention of Tim. Knowing he would. He would do ANYTHING for her career. Something we will see of more at the end of this ep.
Tumblr media
Lucy continues to hesitate. Porter sees this and says her classes will open up a ton of doors for her. Lucy tells her she knows. That Detective Harper has told her all about it. She hands her the folder. Saying every unit will want to poach her from patrol after this. Lucy tells her she will think about it…Oh my girl he is not worth giving up UC for. That guilt truly dominating all her decisions.
She returns to Chris and even he tells her to go for it. We see the stress and continued weight of what happened control her. Saying no it can wait. It’s almost like she needs someone else to push her in that direction...Also that someone else is the real reason she doesn’t want to leave. *cough Tim cough*
Tumblr media
We see Tim pull up to meet Genny. What is it about him driving that big truck that is so sexy? Mmm. Also in civies. Yum take me now sir. Haha Love that smile of his when he looks at the house. Thank you to your wife for having you do this. It sounds like Genny is having an argument on the phone. Tim asks if she’s ok? She sweeps it under the rug like a classic Bradford.
She just needed his signature on some stuff before the open house. Tim looks so excited this is done and they can finally move on. Genny looks extra sad about it. Seems like it's more than just the house. Tim picks up on this and tells her not to get sad over this house LOL She should be excited they’re gonna get half a mill each for this place. He then is sweet and tells her to call him if she needs anything. Such a good brother ❤️
Tumblr media
We return to Lucy at home with Chris. He’s going over her packet saying she has to go. I will give him this and ONLY this. He isn’t trying to keep her from UC school. Now he is trying to do the thing only Tim can. Which is talk her down and have her see some reason. Not gonna happen with you clown. You are not the one for that job. Lucy saying this is where she wants to be. It’s not though…
Lucy is still so angry as she talks about Rosalind. As she should be that’s some serious PTSD for her. Once again not the guy to help her through this anxiety. The guilt is eating away at her and nothing Chris can say will help. Because he is part of that guilt. She almost cheated on him while Rosalind got to him. That’s what’s really eating at her.
Another reason I’m glad it didn’t happened. Would’ve tainted their time together. That would’ve been a painful hill to get over. So no thank you. I’ll be forever grateful it unfolded the way that it did. She is putting off UC for one reason she can’t tell Chris about. Would only add to never ending weight on her soul currently. I wanna hug her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh how I love this scene with Angela. First off I adore him giving her half his burrito ha besties. Second she truly is a cheerleader for Chenford. Also for Tim’s happiness. She just wants to see her grump of a friend be happy. Angela knows that answer is Lucy. It’s been her forever. So she does a little poking around in this scene. Fishing to see what answers she can get. Starting off asking Tim the question that’s been on her mind since Vegas. Even more so since Chris got attacked.
‘How’s Lucy?’ We all know this question isn’t as innocent as it appears. Because well Lopez. He’s out of his damn mind if thinks she gonna let any of this go. I adore this friendship so very much. We notice how Tim likes to surround himself with strong women. His bestie is one of them. His wife another. Only ones he allows to talk to him this way. Heh. I love it. The teasing she does early on in this season is amazing. We were all rooting for her doing this.
Calling him out trying to get him to face his feelings. Do something about them. Angela is as perceptive as they come. And they are as blatantly obvious as two humans could be. Even Nolan knows LOL Tim starts off with a standard answer. She’s shaken but taking time off with Chris. Angela doesn’t care about the Chris part. Asking why he was even there in the first place to find him? Her instigation makes me laugh so hard. Trying to get a real answer out of him. Tim deflecting as he attempts to hold it together for the moment. Just saying he was dropping her off after Vegas. Lies lies and more lies.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Angela’s face is everything. Her 'Mmm-hmm' Calling Tim on his BS answer with her facial expression alone. This is so funny. Tim catching onto what she is throwing down. Asking what she’s implying? When he’s knows EXACTLY what she’s implying. Because babe you almost did what she is suggesting here. You’re just upset cause you're getting caught in that suggestion. I love her throwing back ‘What do you think?’
She is trying so hard to get him to cop to what almost happened between them. Tim goes back to his platonic answer of ‘Just dropping her off. ’ Although his voice gets a little higher in pitch when he does,. Angela’s second ‘Mmm-hmm.’ Is everything. She isn’t buying what you’re selling Timothy. Not for one second. Angela Lopez is a QUEEN. I love her sfm. Man is lying to himself and she just wants him to realize that.
Tumblr media
Poor Lucy is desperate for another opinion. So she seeks out her UC mentor. She is so cute when she says Harper is glowing haha I love her sfm. Lucy is asking everyone except the one person she knows would have her answer. So she is hitting up a very pregnant Harper LMAO Who is in no state of mind to be helping her out.
James basically ushers her out of the house. My girl. She needs advice so much and isn’t getting what she needs from those around her. Trying to find someone to validate her skipping for Chris. Thing is she isn’t going to find that. No one is going to validate this guilt of her's like she is seeking. Once again just wanna hug her.
Tumblr media
We see Genny waiting in the parking garage for Tim. She called him earlier in the day about offers. Saying they had a developer who wanted over asking. But also a sweet family who wanted it for asking. Tim telling her to go with developer. Cause he doesn't care bout the house. So he makes a crack when she shows up about selling it to a sweet family for 100 bucks ha Such a brother things to do to her. Genny says no.... She has another reason for meeting up other than the house. It’s here we learn about why Genny has been stressed all day. Her and her husband are getting a divorce. Tim tells her how sorry he is. He has most definitely Been there.
Tim asks about the house and who they’re gonna sell it to? Asking if they’re gonna pick the happy family? Genny says no the highest bidder. That divorce isn’t cheap. HA That’ll it’ll soften the blow for her financially being a single mom now. Tim asks if her husband is moving out? She says no she wants to move. Here actually. Asking Tim if that’s ok? He lights up. If there’s anything he needs right now it's family. Especially with all the messy stuff with Lucy atm. It’s so sweet how excited he is. Also their hug is also very adorable. I just adore them so very much.
They nailed casting for his sister. They have an excellent sibling rapport. Good chemistry in that way. Also they do look like they could be related it’s unreal. I love the smile on Tim’s face as he hugs her. My heart. Family is so important to have around. Especially when you’re close to them. This is what Lucy wanted for him out of 4x08. Them to not be torn about their dad but be there for each other like this. Getting me all emotional cause what I have with my baby sister. You know he’s excited he will get to see his nephews more and such too. I love it.
Tumblr media
We finally reach their first scene of the ep. It’s a doozy everyone. But such a good one. This is the stage I like to call it 'Hurts so good.' I will always take good productive angst. Well written angst. It’s the BS teenager angst I cannot stand. These people are in their thirties. They don’t got time for that crap. The secret child or breaking up for no reason other than just to make the miserable. Nothing makes me angrier than useless angst just for the sake of having it.
This right here is the good stuff. They did a damn fine job with their angst. It leads us right into that good pining era as well. There is a knock at Lucy’s door. It’s Tim looking mighty fine if you ask me. Says he’s checking in. Asks Chris how he’s feeling? He replies Lucy is taking care of him. The sweet almost sad look to his smile gets me.
Knowing first hand how caring she is. She cared for him long before he was ready for it. When he didn’t appreciate like he would now. This moment is their breakup before they even got together scene. Because that’s basically what it is. We all know Tim included why she’s really holding back from UC school. Her front is Chris. When really it’s Tim and everything they haven’t untangled from Vegas. They haven’t talked about it whatsoever. Tim is there to clear the air.
Tumblr media
Lucy is a little bristly with him at the door. He doesn’t let it deter him. Asking her if he can talk to her? She says yes and follows him out into the hallway. Ahh this hallway where so much happened last time. The context and situation so much different this time around. Tim being straight with her right off the bat. Saying he hears she’s on the fence about UC school. She has been hunting down opinions all day long. The one she needs the most comes to her. I love this sfm. Kudos to the writers for setting up this scene so well. Lucy is shocked Chris called him.
Tim says yes it was unexpected..but he wanted him to talk to her. Interesting how Chris could know Tim would be the voice of reason for her. But can’t figure she’s in love with the man and vice versa. Lucy telling him it’s not the right time. Tim won’t stand for this answer. That she owes it to herself to go. Lucy has been the voice of reason for him many times. There to absolve him of his guilt when he blamed himself about Mitch and Caleb. She couldn’t stand him bearing a burden that wasn’t his.
The beautiful part of this heartbreaking scene is he is now doing the same for her. He came not only about UC school but for her guilt. The guilt she is wearing like armor at the moment. About Chris, about what almost happened between them while he was dying. Tim telling he’s going to be fine. That what happened to him ISN'T her fault. Telling Lucy what she used to tell him. Stop weighing your soul down with guilt that isn’t yours to carry.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lucy brings up what they were about to do. ‘We were about to..’ The way she says that line there is some longing in there. How yes, she’s still with Chris and the guilt that exists with that. But her desire for what almost happened is still there. She doesn’t want to ignore what almost happened between them.
Tim following up with ‘But we didn’t. We didn’t.’ Gah some longing in his voice too. He too is sad they didn’t. The softness in his voice as he delivers that line. Gah it’s so good. Part of him still wishing they had. They had this awakening of their feelings mixed with UC. Then Chris almost dying throwing a nasty wrench in it all.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There is so much subtext behind the lines they’re saying to each other. Lucy then notes the thing she’s been clinging onto. Being his go-fer. Asking if he’s getting rid of her as it? The hurt in her voice *heart clutch* It's written all over her face. Last thing she wants is for Tim to push her away. It’s why she was avoiding UC school in first place. She doesn’t want to lose working with him if she can’t be with him. It’s the closest thing she has to that and now he’s proposing taking that away.
This feels like a breakup because well it is. Their work dynamic/relationship is a huge part of who they are. It’s how we got to this place we’re in. It’s a sacred thing to both of them. Tim is trying to ease her hurt with his reply. Telling her 'No…he’s just trying to look out for her.' The emotions in his voice as he says this. I wanna cry. They both have pre-tears in their eyes. Tim knows this is the right thing to do. Nothing and I mean nothing is more important to that man than protecting her career. Protecting her. Look how far he has come.
Was almost rabidly against her doing UC. Now he’s encouraging it because he knows it’s what best for her. Even if that means leaving him behind. Tim refuses to jeopardize her career in anyway. It’s why he fought her being his aide at first the way he did. Didn’t want anyone to question her or why she got to where she is. Didn’t want any hand in people thinking less of her when it wasn’t true. That even if it hurts them both he is going to look out for her first and foremost.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lucy can't believe what she's hearing. It's all over her expression in that first gif above. The hits keep coming with this scene. Tim telling her it’s time to move on. When he’s really saying is about them. They had their shot and now it’s time to move on. That they have to accept it's not going to happen for them. Gah kills me as I’m writing this. Took the man years to realizes he was in love with her. Now that he does he can’t have her. So he’s willing to do the honorable thing. Step aside and put his feelings on back burner.
Set aside what he wants for what she needs. Because he knows Lucy. How selfless she is for those she loves. He refuses to let her give up her aspirations for him. Lucy is crushed with his retort of moving on. They’re both so vulnerable in this scene. It’s what makes it hurt so damn good. Props to Eric and Melissa once again. Conveying so much with their words, eyes, and expressions. We are truly lucky to have them as our ship.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lucy does some double talk of her own. Saying some time away would be good. Really meaning she can’t be around him especially after him breaking this off. That if she can’t be with him better to be away from him. That this far too painful for her. For them both really. Tim trying to build up her saying what a great opportunity this will be. We know how hard this conversation is for him to have. But it shows the depth of growth in him to have it.
This is so very hard on him to give up. Lucy can’t even say more. Her heart is breaking in this moment. Her person is sending her away from him. All she can muster up is ‘Mmhmm..’ because if she speaks any further she’s going to cry. Tim most definitely won’t be able to handle that. Tim with tears in his eyes telling her she should go for it. Even if it’s killing him inside to be apart from her. To walk away from their potential romantically.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tim feels the best thing he can do for her is distance himself. He is going to fall on his sword to make sure her future is secure. Now that is love. My goodness. The way she is searching his face in the first gif. Oof. She looks so hurt and angry at him for this. She also is trying to keep her shit together. It breaks my heart. This entire scene does. Then our boy walks away and she looks devastated. He has a smile on his face till he turns away from her. Then we see the heartbreak evident on his beautiful face. Ugh.
How she can go back in Chris after that I don't know.. After this scene I knew this season was going to be a hell of a ride. This was the perfect productive angst for them. Hurt like a SOB to watch. A true gut punch to your feels. But damn so well written and acted. I loved it sfm. Oh my lord I love this season.

This is Bravo 0-7, we need you back, now
Ghost barks into the radio as he stands and waits outside the Humvee, exfil was called ten minutes ago, and all the recruits and soldiers have made their way back except you.
What the bloody hell is going on?
He grumbles as his patience wears thin; the team can’t afford to lose any time since they are still in the vicinity of the targeted site. Just as he was about to speak into communications again, he saw you running in his direction. He carefully scanned your figure to see if you had any injuries or not, and from his observation, it didn’t seem like you had anything serious other than some minor cuts here and there, but your gait was slightly different.
You were leaning forward more than you usually would.
He raised an eyebrow as you finally reached and panted slightly, giving him a nod as you hastily entered the truck that had Price and Gaz on the front seat. He didn’t bring it up when he followed you and took a seat behind Price.
Odd.
He thought to himself when he noticed how you sat on the furthest corner of the truck, closest to the exit door, when usually you would either sit opposite or beside him. He notes how you were shuffling your upper body every now and then as well; it’s subtle, but nothing ever escaped his eyes. The way you would pull the vest to the side, lean backwards, or press your hand on your lower abdomen.
y/n
Ghost spoke low enough that only you would hear him. He slowly scooted to the side until he was opposite you as he stared at you.
You look back at him with a blank expression and give a nod as you reply,
Yes, sir?
Calm, too calm.
He thought to himself as he crossed his arm and leaned back in his seat, you’re definitely hiding something, and clearly you don’t intend to say it, whatever it was. He knows it shouldn't be something related to an injury.
There were no signs of you winching; your legs were relaxed and crossed, and no sweat was detected anywhere on your skin.
But you do furrow your brow sometimes, especially when the truck goes through a speed bump, and your right hand instinctively goes onto your lower abdomen again. Is it a brui-
…..wuuuu….
A soft whimper was heard that instantly caught his attention. He looked back up from your foot to your eyes and saw how your eyes widened slightly. You clear your throat nervously as you pull onto your vest again, and speaking of which, he didn’t remember that it was that big in the first place. Curiosity got the best of him as he slowly rose up silently and sat next to you. He saw how you flinched and scooted even further away from him, but there was nowhere to go.
What are you hiding.
It wasn't a question; it was a statement, an order.
Nothing.
You’re a terrible liar.
He says before he pulls you in close to him by your shoulder harness, you grab onto his arm as you shake your head repeatedly and try to unclench his fist.
No please! If you get this rough-
Another whimper—not just one, but multiple at once. Confusion clouded his mind as he looked down to your chest, the source of those sounds. It was small and weak, and there was more than one. He immediately pried off your vest, and before he could go further, you firmly grabbed his hand once again.
Ok ok okay SLOW DOWN- i’ll tell you!
You said it in a hushed whisper as you stared back at Price, who was still driving, and Gaz, who was sleeping on the passenger seat, then directed your eyes back to Ghost as you put a finger on your mouth to do the "shhh" motion.
You slowly unzipped your tactical shirt as your neck skin started showing. Ghost instinctively looked away and coughed slightly for privacy's sake; he has no idea what the hell is going on at the moment. It wasn't until you tapped his hand that he glanced back again, only to be even more caught off guard than he was previously.
Three Indian pariah puppies are poking out from your shirt and staring at him with big milk chocolate eyes. One of the puppies’ colours was dirty brown, the other was creamy white, and the last one was black with its eyes that can barely open.
Ghost was in awe, and frankly, the sight is way too cute for him to handle.
I couldn't leave them alone in the field.
You whisper softly as you rub the black puppy’s forehead gently and smile.
Where did you even find them?
They were stuck under a pile of concrete debris; they were under their moma and were whining.
You sucked in a breath as you frowned slightly.
Moma didn’t make it.
The answer made Ghost soften his gaze as he heard the story. He nodded as he looked back at those poor puppies again.
What do you intend to do with them?
You think for a moment as you look back at him with a grin.
Well, Price definitely won’t let us have dogs, so I plan to bring them home with me until then.
You say this before shrugging your shoulders as you tilt your head.
In 2 days, I’ll have to hide them in my room for the time being. You wouldn’t tell anyone, would you?
Ghost gives a chuckle as he muses and gently touches the puppies.
Only if I get to name them.
You let out an amusing chuckle as you nod slightly, surprised of his cooperation.
Okay, deal then.
Both of you then quickly walked back to your room as stealthily as possible when you arrived back at base. You gently hold the puppies and place them down in the sink of your bathroom. You watch as the puppies curiously sniff and explore the small space, chuckling when they let out tiny "woo" sounds occasionally.
Ghost melts at the sight as he takes off his gloves and rolls up his sleeves. You stare at his arm shamelessly for a few seconds too long before tilting your head as you look up at him with a curious look.
He only rolls his eyes as he gently wets a cloth with some lukewarm water from the tub and starts wiping it over the puppies. You’re genuinely surprised at how soft his touches are, despite him being a huge man with a scary skull mask.
Are you going to help, or are you just going to look?
I mean, I like a free show.
He lets out an airy huff of air as he shakes his head, and you gleefully grin as you watch him closely. It’s so refreshing to see him like this, and the way he handled the puppies was almost as if he were handling glass, being extra careful around the ears, nose, and mouth of the babies.
Woooooo…
The black puppy whimpered slightly when he wiped its tail; it was slightly crooked; poor thing, it must’ve been because of the debris they were stuck under.
Ghost hushed as he ran his two fingers along the puppy’s back, soothing its nerves as well as he could; he even gently lifted the small creature up and kissed its head through the mask to further calm down the shaky puppy.
You were pretty sure your eyes were about to pop out of your own head as you watched with a shit-eating grin.
Is he even the same man on the field? What the hell?! This is so cute!
You really want to make a comment, but you don’t want to ruin the moment, so you decided to step closer and whisper to him.
What are you going to name them?
He gives a long hum of thought as he gently carries them all in his hand. Even with the three of them resting on his hands, they still look so small compared to him. He slowly sat down on the cold concrete floor and let the puppy roam around his thighs.
Waffles.
He said that as he petted the brown puppy, you gave a chuckle and nod as you gave the white one a neck rub and waited for him as he gave another long thought.
Marsh…mallow?
He asked as you chuckled, shook your head, and giggled.
Nah, that’s too long.
He nods as he agrees, then speaks again when the puppy slightly nibbles his finger.
Marshy?
You can’t believe that word came out of him. how-
You think to yourself as you scream internally at how cute that name is and nod repeatedly.
Marshy, it is.
Both of you then glance at the last black puppy, nuzzling its chin comfortably on his lap. It was not very active compared to the previous two, most likely because it is the youngest one among the three since it's smaller and whimpered more.
I think it likes you a lot.
You whisper as his eyes shine slightly when the dog licks its finger. He let out a shaky breath as he admired how small and fragile this tiny thing was under his touch. You wonder if a man as cold-hearted actually melts because of that gesture.
Shadow.
Nope.
Why not?
I already have one named that.
He frowns and glares at you for a moment before he thinks again, but he shakes his head and shrugs his shoulders in defeat as you smile.
What about Riley?
You watch as he freezes for a moment, considering your answer as his mask shifts—a smile perhaps? He lets out a quiet chuckle as he picks up the black puppy and asks him in a whisper.
Do you want to be Riley, huh, little one?
The black puppy tilted its head in a confused manner and yelped softly as it wiggled its tail slightly, as if it were answering Ghost.
Alright, Riley, it is.
He answered as he softly nuzzled Riley’s nose and placed it back down.
You’re really thankful you rescued the puppies, for it gave you this opportunity to see this side of him.

Ceasefire | 0.5 | Bradley Bradshaw x Reader
Tumblr media
Previous Chapter | Next Chapter | Masterlist
Synopsis: Bradley Bradshaw is in San Diego, summoned to Top Gun for the first time. Commander “Hyde” Simpson is his flight instructor, and she doesn’t have time for schoolboy crushes.
Warnings: ex-husband!beausimpson, divorce, age gap (rooster is somewhere between 26-28, reader is 38), power imbalance between instructor and student aviator, swearing, angst
“I said: I think Mom is seeing somebody.” Dylan explains, playing with his phone in the passenger seat of Beau’s car. It’s late, Beau has just picked Taylor up from gymnastics and he’s driving the two of them to your place. Taylor’s knocked out in her booster seat, her forehead resting against the car window as she snuggles her stuffed rabbit.
Beau looks across at his son, who’s starting to look more and more like him every day, and scrunches his brows. The car passes under the illumination of a street light and catches a glimpse of you in your son’s eyes. He turns his head back to the road.
He always thought that if the two of you were ever to get divorced, you would both do the right thing and leave the kids out of it. But here he is, talking through the ruins of his marriage with his pre-teen.
“What makes you think that?” Beau asks calmly, shifting in his seat. Dylan shrugs as he sips at the milkshake he isn’t supposed to be having an hour before his bedtime.
“Heard her talking about it with Grandma.”
Beau hums softly. He should leave it at that. It would be wrong to drag Dylan into this, he’s already caught in the middle enough. Beau taps his fingers softly on the steering wheel and thinks of his wife. You’re working constantly - even tonight, that’s why he’s on pick up duty - where would you have even met someone?
“What did she say?” Beau asks, his curiosity getting the best of him.
“That there’s some guy that wants to take her on a date,” Dylan explains. He enjoys having his dad’s full attention. He rarely gets it these days. Both of his parents are weird at the moment; his dad is always angry and his mom is happier than she has seemed in years. “And there was a truck in the driveway when grandma drove us home last Sunday - but I didn’t see anyone.”
“There was a-“ Beau’s voice is raised. He catches himself and stops, checking that he hadn’t woken up Taylor.
He sighs softly.
“It wasn’t one of your mom’s friends?” Beau tries his best to sound calm.
“Could’ve been. I didn’t see anyone.”
Beau drives silently the rest of the way to the house. Dylan sits in silent regret. He’s too young to have any experience with relationships beyond the crush on the girl in his second period, but he knows that he just caused a big problem. For maybe two minutes of undivided attention.
He stands awkwardly, biting his cheek as Beau knocks at your front door.
“Hey! How was practice?” You smile as you open the door to them. Beau’s carrying Taylor, she’s asleep in his arms, her head lulling back in a way that cannot possibly be comfortable. You only got in from work a couple of minutes ago, you’re exhausted but you’re happy to see them.
Today ran over. One of the recruits is in trouble for borderline subordination so you were held back late with paperwork.
Beau shifts his daughter in his arms and looks down to Dylan.
“Take her up to bed, alright? - Your mom and I need to talk.” Beau says coldly. Your brows furrow as Dylan takes his little sister, struggling to carry her in his arms. Your mouth opens to protest as Beau moves to step past you.
“Woah, woah - Dyl, baby - I can take her.” You hold a hand out to keep Beau where he is as you move to help your son.
“I’ve got her. You should talk.”
Your eyes widen slightly. You weren’t expecting for your eleven year old to be giving you relationship advice tonight.
“What’s going on?” You frown at your soon-to-be ex-husband.
“Go to bed, Dylan.” Beau isn’t willing to have this conversation whilst his son is in ear-shot. Your brows furrow at him, you step into his way to stop him from coming inside.
The only thing stopping you from arguing with him is the fact that the kids are still there. The two of you wait for the sound of Dylan reaching the top of the stairs. Beau’s shoulder hits yours as he steps into the house past you.
“What is your problem?” You challenge him.
“You had a man here with the kids here?” Beau hisses, rounding on you, eyes dark as he steps into your space. You step back instinctively as you swing the front door shut behind you.
“What?”
“Dylan told me there was a car in the driveway on Sunday!” Beau snaps.
You stare at him, knowing that you aren’t going to be able to lie. You shoot a quick glance towards the stairs.
“He left the moment the kids got home, they never saw him - you were supposed to have them until four.” You answer as calmly as you can. Your heart feels like it’s going to jump out of your chest. This is the last thing you need after the day you’ve had.
Beau’s face falls. He presses his lips together calmly.
“Who is he?” He demands.
“No one.” You answer him. His eyes narrow on you.
“How long?”
“A couple of weeks. It’s nothing.” You tell him.
“Is that a fucking joke?” Beau steps closer, standing over you. Your eyes widen, furious that after fifteen years of marriage, he thinks he’s capable of intimidating you. He holds up his hand, your eyes land on the ring still on his finger. “Do I need to remind you that we’re still married?”
It’s almost laughable. You thought he was a grumpy asshole before you married him, he’s just gotten worse since you told him you were leaving.
“Only because of the assets! If you pulled your head out of your ass and agreed to the settlement then we would be divorced by now!” You answer back, standing firm in front of him. He has never scared you before and he isn’t going to now.
“It’s still adultery, Hyde.” He speaks softly, more calm. He only ever calls you Hyde at work. Always by your name at home. You’re standing in front of him with plenty of space, but he knows that he just backed you into a corner.
“You and I both know that this is over,” You breathe. Your face softens as you look at him. You aren’t sure what you’re expecting - empathy, perhaps? “We should be moving on. Both of us, Beau.”
“I don’t want to move on. I told you I wanted to spend the rest of my life with you and I meant it.” There’s a coldness to his tone. You shake your head softly and step around him. You can’t keep having this conversation.
It’s been eight weeks since you left him. Two months.
“We deserve to be happy.” You answer him, turning to tidy the toys from the couch just so that you don’t have to look at him. You can feel him watching your every move.
“You don’t get to be happy with someone else while you’re still married to me. You owe me that.” Beau hisses. Your jaw drops. You turn towards him, eyes widening. You’re filled with the urge to shove him. Beau notices the way your hands clench at your sides.
“I don’t owe you anything! We’re over.” You remind him coldly.
“Are we over in the eyes of the Navy?”
You stare at him, brows furrowed slightly. You know exactly what he means. With you both still being legally married, you’re married in the eyes of the Navy. Your actions with Bradley would be absolutely considered adultery - it could end your career. You know that. Beau certainly knows that.
Even worse: he doesn’t even know that it’s Rooster. Not only is it adultery, but it could also be an abuse of your power with you being his senior officer.
“That’s what I thought.” Beau spits. He clenches his jaw and straightens up. “Keep your hook-ups away from my kids. Commander.”
He turns towards the door. It takes you a few seconds, long enough for him to reach the handle, for you to process what just happened. Your heartbeat’s in your ears, you’re furious.
“Did you just threaten me?” You snap at him.
He doesn’t answer you. The gold band on his left hand catches the light as he yanks the front door open.
“Some way to treat your fucking wife, Beau.” He’s the one who made such a big deal about you still being his wife in the eyes of the law. If he wants a wife so badly, the least he could do is learn how to treat her.
Beau turns.
“I’d never threaten my wife.” He tells you calmly, then shrugs his shoulders. “But my ex-wife. Different story.”
“Fuck you.” You snap. The door slams behind him.
“Mommy?”
Your head turns to find Taylor looking at you through the gaps in the railings on the stairs. Dylan’s sitting behind her, his face is stone-cold and furious, eyes brimming with tears. He looks so much like Beau.
“Oh, baby…” You sigh.
You move through the paces of wiping her tears, kissing her forehead, reading her a bedtime story and telling her that you and her dad love her more than anything. Dylan retreats to his room without a word. Taylor falls asleep in your arms. You have to wiggle your way out of her bed, stepping over her and crossing the hall.
You knock twice on your son’s door.
“Come in.” He mumbles sheepishly.
You push open the door. He’s sitting cross-legged on his bed, freckled cheeks blotchy and tear-stained. He’s always been sweet and sensitive. Not like you, or Beau. Kinder than both of you.
“I’m sorry.” He whimpers quietly.
You step inside and move to sit beside him on his bed, pulling him into your arms. He sniffles against your shoulder.
“I didn’t mean for him to talk to you like that.” Dylan’s voice is half muffled by your shirt and half broken from his crying, but you know what he’s saying. You rub your palm over his back soothingly.
“It’s not your fault.” You tell him. It’s true, Beau would have found out either way. You just didn’t need that to happen tonight.
Dylan sits back and wipes hurriedly at his tears. “Do you love someone else?”
“No,” You brush his hair back gently off of his forehead, shaking your head softly. “No. But your dad and I aren’t getting back together. Ever.”
Dylan sighs, trying to catch his breath after crying.
“He’s so sad without you. You’re all he talks about.” Dylan admits.
You brush the tears off of his cheeks tenderly.
“Look, I’m going to talk to your dad and make sure he’s on the same page - but he shouldn’t be talking to you about him and I.” You explain quietly.
Dylan nods softly, ashamed of himself for causing such an argument.
You sit with him, leaning back against his alien poster as you turn the conversation away from your ruined marriage. You don’t want this to be on his mind while he’s trying to sleep. Yet, the moment there’s a lull in conversation, Dylan circles back.
“So, do you have a boyfriend?”
You sigh softly, leaning your head back against the wall. You look at him. You smile softly.
“I’m seeing someone.” You admit.
Dylan’s lips quirk softly. He leans into you. “Would he yell at you like that?”
You almost laugh at the idea. You shake your head at him.
“He wouldn’t dream of it. I’d kick his ass.” You nudge Dylan playfully with your elbow and he laughs softly. He lifts his gaze to look you in the eye.
There’s a moment where you sit in silence with your firstborn. You feel like he’s slipping through your fingers these days. All these crazy hours at work, everything happening with Beau, just him growing up. Moments of silence like this make it feel like time isn’t getting the better of you.
“If you want to keep dating him, I won’t tell Dad.” He wants you to be happy.
You chuckle softly and lean across to kiss the top of his head, then push yourself to stand.
“Not for you to worry about, honey. But thank you, I appreciate that.”
You tell him goodnight and walk back to your room. You shower and take your time getting ready for bed. Going through the processes of fixing your hair, doing your skincare, taking time for yourself.
Pretending that Beau didn’t just suggest that he’s willing to end your career.
It’s been one of those days that makes your bed feel especially soft by the time that you’re in it. There’s only one thing that could make it better, and he’s in a shitty apartment near the beach, playing video games with his roommates. You wonder if it’s worth it.
If you could guarantee that Beau would never find out, it would be absolutely worth it. The sex, the intimacy, that smile. So worth it. So, so worth it. But not worth your career.
You’re certain that Rooster would understand that.
Rooster can tell that you’re avoiding him the next morning. All through flight exercises. All the way through post-flight. You won’t meet his gaze. He catches you finally as you’re headed back to your office. You sigh softly as he nudges your elbow with his.
“You mad at me or something?” He asks softly.
“No.” You deadpan.
Rooster follows you into your office and shuts the door behind the two of you.
“Talk to me.” He says softly, reaching out to graze his fingertips against yours. You pull your hand away from his and weigh up your options.
Your instinct is to be mean to him - to scare him away and hope that he’ll finally get you out of his head. But, you’re half worried that being mean to him might make him like you even more. The truth it is.
“I had an argument with Beau last night after he dropped the kids off.” You sigh, turning to sit back against the corner of your desk. Rooster’s brows furrow slightly but he doesn’t interrupt. “He… Found out that I had someone over and kind of freaked out.”
“Oh.”
“Look, Bradley-“
“Fuck, please don’t.” Bradley grumbles, already knowing what the beginning of that sentence means.
“While I’m still married to him, it’s adultery. He could ruin my career over this.”
“He wouldn’t, right?” Bradley frowns.
A soft sigh slips your lips as you lean back on your palms. You wouldn’t have expected him to either.
“Fine. We’ll be careful until your divorce is final.” Bradley decides.
“Rooster.” You warn him, folding your arms over your chest.
“Look, I really like you.” Rooster stands up straight and slips his hand into yours. Once again, you’re suckered by those pretty brown eyes. “I want to make this work, whatever that takes.”
You groan and lean your head back, trying to muster a sense of restraint. Just enough to tell him no.
Rooster moves to stand between your knees. You stare at him sternly. His lips quirk up into a smile. He leans in and presses his lips tenderly to yours.
“Let me prove that we can do this.” He murmurs, thumbs stroking softly over the fabric of your khakis. You glance down at your uniform and chuckle. It’s ridiculous that he finds you just as attractive in uniform as he does in nothing at all.
You shake your head, “You’re done in four weeks. After that, you’ll be gone. This isn’t a risk that I can take right now.”
Bradley lifts your chin.
“I’m not going anywhere.” He kisses you tenderly once more. He squeezes at your hips. “Friday. Take a chance, I won’t let you down.”
You watch as he turns and leaves, closing the door to your office behind you. You close your eyes and let out a deep sigh. Fuck.

“Daryl” negan yelled from across hill top. He turned around on his motorcycle Looking for who called his name. Negan walked over to him “are you going to that house now?” He questioned after getting closer. “What’s it to you?” Daryl darkened his eyes replying bluntly. “I wanna come” he shrugged “we’re trying to welcome new recruits not scare them away”.
“Look everyone here is giving me the stink eye” “that ain’t my problem your not coming”. Negan let out a little laugh looking at his feet. “Fine, who knows what I’ll get up to with you and Maggie gone”. Darryl stood up angrily. “Is that a threat?”.
Negan smirked looking around hill top with a shrug before Daryl’s hand shot out wrapping round his neck. “Get in the truck, I wanna keep an eye on you” he spat throwing negan backward. He stumbled but never lost his grin. “Wise choice” he winked as he began walking to maggie’s truck. “Get in the back” she growled eyeing him evilly, clearly not happy he was coming.
Negan raised his eyebrows and threw himself into the truck grunting because of the rough landing. Maggie had already began driving off following Daryl on his bike in front.
———
“Y/n A car and a bike just pulled up outside” “I heard, is the snipper ready?” I questioned standing up from my desk chair. “Yes boss, will is upstairs” “perfect, go and greet our guests sam” I smiled dangerously snatching up a knife sliding it into my belt and doing the same on the other side before eyeing the window. “Let’s show them how we greet trespassers”.
“Hello? We know there’s people living in there- we’re not here to attack”
“That’s what they all say” my eyes rolled sarcastically making Sam laugh under her breath. I followed Samantha out into the dinning room where I took a seat and watched her walk to the door. She opened it holding out her gun to Aaron, Daryl who were standing at the bottom of the steps. Not that it had many bullets, only two. That was all we had left for the hand guns. The sniper had a few more rounds but not many.
“Woah- Woah- we don’t wanna hurt you, my names Aaron and this is Daryl”. The man with the cross bow nodded at her without a smile. Arron then pointed to the truck “that’s Maggie and Lydia” he explained with a smile.
“You wanna talk?” Sam asked raising an eyebrow “you the leader?” Daryl questioned gently “your on my land, I’m doing the talking I said do you want to talk?” Sam repeated before cocking the gun. “Yes! We want to talk we have an offer” Aaron put his hands up in defence. “Good start, now if you want to talk to the boss your going to have to leave your weapons there” she ordered pointing the gun at the ground.
Daryl was first to remove his cross bow before putting it on the ground. Aaron put a knife down and Daryl put two down. Maggie threw her knives out the window. In that moment negan popped his head out the back. “You missed one” she pointed the gun at negan. “He’s irrelevant and not coming in” Daryl commented before he began climbing the stairs. “Does he have weapons?” She asked moving the gun to Daryl.
He looked across from her being on the same level now. “No” he stated before Aaron reached them. He gave a small smile suggesting he was ready to go in. Sam stood to the side letting the men in the house. She pointed to the next room where I locked eyes with them. “Take a seat” I put my hand down. “Your- in charge?” Aaron questioned raising an eyebrow. “Got something to say spit it out?” I smiled sarcastically.
“No, we’ve met lots of different people and lots of different leaders- none that looked like you, but that’s a good thing” Aaron shrugged taking a seat at the table. “Isn’t that arm classed as a weapon” I eyed the spiked ball swinging in the air. “It’s a bitch to take off” he half smiled. The other guy Daryl didn’t seem like much of a talker. He kept a straight face sitting opposite me.
Sam brought over Aaron’s bag to me laying it on the table before standing by the wall. “Most people that come in here, they don’t get back out” “we have no intention of fighting, we’re on a recruiting mission actually” Aaron nodded at his bag. “In there are some good samples and there’s even some photos of the communities we live in”. My brows knitted together “your here to get us to come back with you? So what you can imprison us- you want our stuff from here?”
“What stuff would we want? We have everything we want we’re here to give you everything you want” Daryl piped up making my attention turn to him. “Oh he talks” I half laughed siting back in my chair. “I haven’t heard such mockery since somebody said the dead are coming back to life”. My head shook and my arms folded across my chest in disbelief. I didn’t trust them and I didn’t want them in my house.
“Mockery?” Aaron questioned throwing me an innocent look. “You think we can’t survive here? That we’re too weak or don’t know what we’re doing?” “No that’s not- why we came I-.” Aaron started but he wasn’t going to cut in, not in my house. “You didn’t think you could just waltz in here and expect me to trust you after shoving you fancy apple sauce and carrots in my face did you?” I chuckled pulling the items out the bag.
“Why don’t you tell me how you found us” “we found you because your bad at covering your tracks, if we could find you that means others can too- now we have had enough experience to know that you don’t want people knocking at your doors” Daryl began looking me dead in the eyes. All of a sudden a loud gunshot went off from outside. “Was that you?” Aaron’s eyes widened he jumped up to move to the window.
“Sam” I nodded at the door for her to check it out. “I had snipers on your people the whole time, if they shot they had a reason to” I shrugged my shoulders. “Stop right there!” Sam yelled pointing her gun at whoever was trying to get in. “I just want to come and say hello because I’m sure these two would be fucking it up”.
Sam stepped out into the porch before dragging a man in with a gun pointed at his head and an arm wrapped round his neck. “Do you want another one or should I put him in his place boss” Sam hissed against the man’s face. But I hardly heard her. I was too busy studying the man’s face.
“Negan?” I blinked in disbelief
His smirked dropped as he squinted his eyes at me. “Y/n?” He whispered, he took a second before he started struggling against Samantha. “Stand down sam” I shook my head standing up. Negan didn’t move a muscle from the shock he was going through. I took about three leaps which forced me to almost do the splits. My arms wrapped around Negan’s neck as he copied me holding my head into his neck. “I can’t belive you made it” I whispered to him blinking at the wall.
“Oh I knew if anyone would you would” he chuckled under his breath. “You two know each other?” Daryl asked from the other room. “From before the fall” I nodded stepping back taking him in once again. “I tried looking for you but…” “I know- I know” I shook my head not wanting him to say the words. “I’m super glad you guys are reunited but at the end of the day we’re here for one thing” Daryl spoke again, getting straight down to the point.
I looked at the two men in my dining room and then looked at negan. “Can i trust them?” I quizzed pressing my lips together. His eyes flicked from me to them. “Yes” negan replied. I could always tell when he was lying, now wasn’t one of those times. “Do you trust them” “yes”. Now he was lying. “Why don’t you trust them negan?” Exhaling I put my hands on my hips. He smiled at me knowingly before say saying “Because I did some shit y/n and I have no clue if or when they’re going to try taking me out”.
I blinked at him and then at them. “You want us to just leave- join your group? Live there- work there fight there?” “All of the above” Aaron nodded his head vigorously. “I understand your weary, Daryl was too when I first came to him” he flashed a friendly smiled at me. I inhaled before looking at Sam. “What do you think?”, she didn’t hesitate to tell me her answer “if you trust this guy then this is a great opportunity- though the five of us have been fine for a long time we don’t know when trouble will come”
“Plus we are running out of bullets and your the only one who can fight hand to hand, we can learn new things and find safety in numbers” Sam shrugged looking at the group. I knew she was right deep down, but I just needed more time to think it through. “We will check it out, if we don’t like the look of it then we’re coming here, if we think your community is the future we will stay and help you build it”.
With that I collected the rest of my group and explained what was going to happen. Still in shock that I’d found my best friend again. Negan was hovering round the front of the door while the rest of the Group met the new people and got into the truck. I was last out, worried that I’d never return to this place again. “Have you been here since the beginning?” Negan questioned softly, realising I was struggling to leave it behind.
“No we moved around a lot but we were here the longest” I told him as I closed the door. “I can’t believe how close we were and we didn’t even know it” he chuckled loosely. “Makes you think doesn’t it, who else is out there” I sighed looking towards the trees. “From our life before?” “Exactly! Brandon, Izzy- Janine”. Negans face hardened at the last name.
“Guys- we’re making a move” Lydia called over with a sweet smile. Negan threw an arm over my shoulders as we made a way to the back of the truck that Maggie was driving. “Is she…” “she’s gone” negan said lowly helping me in. “What happened, did she get bitten or- was it the-” I shook my head sadly. “Neither, she did it herself- I lost her- I took too long, but I avenged her” he said jumping in next to me.
I could tell how much it pained him to talk about it even with the amount of time that passed. “It’s changed you huh” “all this changed everyone” negan replied correctly. “We all had to do things to survive negan, whatever you’ve done you did to stay alive and because your hurting because your mad at the world” “don’t excuse me y/n- eveyones mad at the world everyone’s hurting and trying to stay alive, why am I any different”
“Because You’ve survived, you lived” I smiled putting my head on his shoulder. “It’s good to have you back y/n, I couldn’t bare my last memories with you being sad” “I’m gutted that’s my last memory of her, but I’m sure you two had some good ones after the fall” I looked up at him all smily even though my eyes had heavy tears trying to spill over. “Yeah, we did” he smiled to himself just as we reached the gates of the community called hilltop. “This is just one of three communities” Daryl pointed as he came over to help me out the truck.
He gave negan an Evil eye before proceeding to walk me through the gates. They showed us round the community so we could see the goods they produced, the building materials they made and all the other jobs people did. I was amazed though I did a good job at hiding it. I also found myself looking for negan while I was walking around realising how isolated he was from the rest of society.
It broke my heart seeing me him standing on his own, moving around making it seem like he was doing something, anything.
“Earth to y/n!” Will yelled laughing a bit, “what do you think?” “I want to stay” I blurted out not even thinking how a leader would at this point. I wanted to stay so I could be with my best friend. That may be selfish but the community looked safe enough for the rest of my group. Though to my surprise they all grew smiles on their faces. “I want to stay too” Sam nodded looking around hill top. “It’ll be a new start and a step closer to how things were” will nodded agreeing.
The other two other nodded feeling happy with the agreement. “So your staying?” I heard from behind me. I spun around on my heels “hey- yeah I think we are” I nodded looking up at negan. I saw his eyes light up even though he tried his best to pretend he wasn’t jumping with joy inside. “You look like you need a friend anyway, always was me and you against the world”, he let out a laugh and threw an arm round my shoulder.
“It’s you and i against this new world now”.

I Missed You
Summary: After being banished from Asgard a hundred years ago, you were recruited by S.H.I.E.L.D to help them deal with a threat; your old friend Loki. After reuniting, lost feelings resurface.
Warnings: Loki's torture, mentioned suicide, soulmate AU, a lot of smut at the end
Tumblr media
Living your life as a Midgardian was hard. Ever since you were banished from Asgard for learning magic above what you were supposed to, you had taken residence on the planet that was well known for its lack of magic. It was a backwards planet but that was what you knew would keep you safe.
The only downside to living away from Asgard was your best friend, Loki. He had been your light in the dark, your best friend and someone you trusted with your whole heart. It took being banished from Asgard for you to realise that you loved him. You guessed that he had loved you too.
Walking into your apartment, you shrugged off your coat and heaved a sigh as you hung it up on a hanger by the door. Locking the door behind you, you made your way into the kitchen and grabbed a leftover slice of pizza from the fridge and walked into the living room. You dropped down onto the sofa and stared up at the ceiling. What a day you had.
You had gotten a job and you were lucky that it wasn't that far from your apartment. Unlucky though was the fact that you lived in New York so everything was always so busy and packed. You had to leave early if you wanted to get to work on time even if you didn't live that far. You preferred your days in Asgard when you were always in the library with your head on Loki's lap and your nose in a book.
Running a hand through your hair, you sighed and switched on the TV with a flick of your finger. Nothing interesting had happened since that incident in Puente Antiguo with news saying that a huge metal man appeared from a beam of light as did a man and a hammer hours before. Thor had done something to anger the Allfather but his banishment was not nearly as long as yours. Just hours later, you felt your heart rip out of your chest and you clutched your clothes as tears ran down your face.
You had no idea why you suddenly started crying back then and it scared you how it was like a wave of agony and grief.
"This just in," a reporter was saying on the TV but you barely heard her, "a whole facility collapsed just an hour ago. Witnesses say that they saw a truck driving away from the scene with a strange man in the back holding a glowing sceptre."
As footage was brought up, you looked at the screen and felt the tension you didn't know you had drain away. That was Loki. Your friend and your light. But what was he doing on Midgard in the first place?
A knock on your door pulled you away from the TV which you had paused without knowing. Grumbling, you got up from the sofa and walked to the door. Opening it, you saw that a bunch of men dressed in suits were at your door.
"May I help you?" You asked timidly, keeping your hands in their sight so they would know you were going to comply.
"Miss Y/N Y/L/N, we need you to come with us," a man spoke, passing all the agents. He wore an eyepatch with a clear scar protruding from it, "I am Director Fury of S.H.I.E.L.D and we need your assistance."
You tilted your head curiously before nodding and smiling despite the fear, "just give me a moment to turn off my TV, bills around here are fucking pricey," you mumbled and shuffled into the living room, turning off your TV and then returning to the agents.
They took you to a jet and that jet then took you to what looked like a carrier at sea. Emerging from the jet, you followed the agents inside. Fury guided you into a meeting room and sat opposite you with a serious expression.
"So," you bit your lip as you sat down, "why am I here, Director? I assure you that I had no hand in what happened at the facility if that is why you're here."
Fury sat forward in his chair and raised an eyebrow, "we need intel and the information we have on you shows that you are an Asgardian that sought asylum here after being banished a hundred years ago. Another Asgardian just blew up our damn facility. Called himself Loki of Asgard. Do you know him?"
You stared at Fury for a moment in confusion. Loki of Asgard? Not Loki Odinson? What had you missed in just a meagre hundred years? "I know him," you whispered solemnly, "I knew him. He was my friend."
"What can you tell us about him? Does he have any weaknesses?" Fury asked and you looked at the wall behind him as you thought, your tongue tracing the inside of your lip. You knew so much about Loki but you did not trust such information in the hands of Director Fury.
"We were reading buddies. I was a servant girl to the royal family of Asgard but on my days off, I would be in the library reading and one day, he just started to join me. He enjoyed Midgardian literature, actually, made me act out some scenes from Shakespeare. We didn't really know each other more than that," you answered, pulling the lie perfectly. Loki would be proud.
Fury hummed and then grabbed a file from the side, sliding it over to you. Taking a look through, your breath hitched at the sight of the Tesseract in the details. Fury took note of that and acted quickly, "you know of the Tesseract?"
"It's an ancient artefact. It belongs in Odin's vaults with maximum observance but Odin believed that it would be safe on Midgard," you whispered as you stared at the cube, "what does Loki want with it?"
"That is just the thing, Miss Y/L/N, we don't know what he wants with the Tesseract. So, to defend the Earth against your old acting partner, I'm putting a team together and I would like you to be a member of it," Fury explained and you sighed as you thought about the prospect of seeing Loki again.
"I'm in."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Since you got here there had been more people brought on board that you guessed were the other 'heroes' Fury talked about. You walked up to the redhead with a smile on your face, "hi, I'm Y/N! Seems like we're going to be working together, what is your name?"
"Natasha Romanoff," the woman smiled, tilting her head in curiosity as she regarded you, "what made Fury bring you onto the team?"
You shrugged and your body glowed a beautiful forest green before disappearing and reappearing behind her, "I suppose this is what I have running for me."
Natasha spun around and smiled as she shrugged, "it'll do."
You gasped and grinned, "it'll do? That's it? I just showed you magic, Miss Romanoff," you teased, following her inside.
Natasha smiled and shook her head as she guided you into the main control room of the Helecarrier, "I've seen so much shit that magic probably wouldn't phase me. Welcome to the team, Y/N."
You nodded at her before splitting and walking over to a man wearing a flannel shirt and you recognised him from seventy years ago, he was Captain America. So they had found him in the ice after all. You walked over to him and held out your hand, "Captain Rogers. I thought I was the only survivor of the war."
Captain Rogers turned to face you with a look of sheer confusion since you looked so young but he shrugged and shook your hand, "an honour to meet you, ma'am, what is your name?"
"Y/N Y/L/N. I am Asgardian like our target. I was around when your war was in action. I remember your bravery but also the shows. Oh the shows!" You grinned and watched Steve sputter and redden and you cackled, "don't stress, Captain Rogers. I won't tell anyone about those."
Captain Rogers nodded before patting your shoulder and turning away, "if we are to be teammates, call me Steve."
"Steve," you whispered and smiled, "I shall remember to call you that."
You continued your exploration of the craft before happening upon the labs. Walking in, you grinned when you saw Tony Stark in there with Bruce Banner. "Well well, two science nerds in one place," you smirked and the men looked up from their work to roll their eyes at you.
"I suppose you're the mini Asgardian that's going to help us? How you going to help, witchypoo?" Tony smirked and you rolled your eyes.
"If I can talk to Loki then maybe he will stop. I was his best friend so maybe he'd listen to me more than strangers," you whispered and Tony hummed before returning to his work.
It didn't take long for Loki to show himself and you were sent out with Steve going with you for backup. As you flew to Germany, you messed with your hands and bit your lip as you imagined what could possibly have happened to Loki to make him attempt to take over a planet.
When you arrived, you saw Loki standing above a crowd of kneeling people and your heart fell to your stomach in sorrow. You disappeared from the plane and appeared in front of the man Loki was about to hit with the sceptre. You blocked the burst of magic with a flick of your wrist. Standing up straight, you stared at Loki.
"Ah," Loki growled, glaring straight at you, "so this is where you have been hiding. After abandoning me and leaving Asgard, you became a part of Midgard's stupid excuse for a society."
You frowned at the jab but chose to keep your temper as you walked towards him, "Loki, I didn't abandon you. I was banished for learning magic too advanced for someone of my status."
Loki scoffed and glared at you, his sceptre charging up for another blast and tears sprung to your eyes when you realised that he was fully prepared to hit you with that thing.
"I needed you, Y/N. I needed you and you weren't there," Loki snarled and the words struck you deep in your heart and you nodded sadly. Loki stalked towards you, conjuring a dagger from the aether to hold to your throat, "I needed you."
You gently pushed the dagger away and sighed as you reached up to cup his cheek, "what changed in just a hundred years? You're still my Loki."
The God recoiled at the words and glared at you, sending a blast straight at your chest before taking your disorientated state as weakness and pressing the blade to your chest and all you knew was blue.
When you woke up, Natasha was standing above you and your head was pounding as if you had been hit. Groaning, you held your hands to your head and processed the pain and what you could vaguely remember. You had continued as usual, reacting as you should to Thor's arrival (if a bit hostile thanks to Loki), listening into conversations on the Helecarrier. Then they attacked and you were freed from Loki's control. Only that wasn't Loki who was controlling you, not really.
"There's someone else behind this," you whispered and Natasha looked at you as if you were crazy so you continued, "what I saw wasn't just Loki's power. There is someone out there controlling Loki too."
Natasha hummed and sighed as she helped you to your feet, "it's too late for us to help him. He is our enemy and that's it."
You nodded to yourself and remained silent and trapped in your thoughts until you got to New York with Nat and Barton in the jet. You disappeared from inside and appeared in Stark Tower, watching Thor try to reason with Loki. Stepping up, you rested a hand on his shoulder and dug into your powers, your fingers glowing a beautiful green being the single warning.
You were standing on the Bifrost and you took a deep breath as you looked around. Home hadn't changed at all. you had missed this place so much. Then you noticed Odin clutching Gungnir in his hand as he looked down into the void. Stepping closer, you noticed that both Thor and Loki were desperately holding onto the sceptre.
"I could have done it, father!" Loki called desperately, his voice breaking with anguish, "I could have done it! For you! For all of us!"
"No, Loki," was Odin's response and instinctively, you knew what Loki was about to do. You heard Thor's desperate scream for Loki but it was too late, Loki had let go and was falling into the void with full intent on dying.
Desperately, you jumped into the abyss after him. Distantly, you realised that this was the agonising pain that you had felt a year ago; Loki falling.
You were then thrust into another memory. This time, Loki was on his knees in chains.
Thanos watched as the God sat in his cell silently, arms chained up to the wall and completely silent. The titan smirked as he saw the tears escape the broken eyes of the God as he gripped the sceptre in his large, purple hand.
“Do it,” The titan commanded, and the Black Order smirked before Maw walked up to Loki and tore nail from finger. The God whimpered and his head turned unseeingly towards Maw, who didn’t cease the removals.
Blood poured from the spaces that once held Loki’s nails, the grimy floor of his cell now being coated with the God’s special blood.
“Revert him,” the Titan ordered and once again, the Order smirked and reverted Loki back to his Jotun form.
This time, a green woman stepped forward and with a frown, poured a flammable substance over Loki’s arm and lit it. The loud screech that erupted from the Prince of Asgard was deafening and the skin around the fire started to melt.
Proxima Midnight then dove in, holding a rusted knife and cut into every single dot covering Loki’s face and neck, each line of inheritance from Laufey and Farbauti; violated and ruined.
They allowed Loki the rest of the day and night to heal and when they returned the day after, they saw that he had reverted back to his Aesir form, his nails regrown and when they reverted him again, the inheritance lines were all healed.
“Interesting,” Maw had whispered before going through the process again.
Weeks turned into months and soon, the young Prince looked older than he should have. He looked dead. A husk of the vibrant fighter than had landed on their ship, seeking a ride to Asgard back to his family.
“Heimdall,” croaked the Prince on one of the final days before he had broken completely and descended into madness, “I know… I know you can… see me… please… tell them to stop… I’m sorry… please…”
Flashes of different things came up, Maw experimenting in cruel ways; tearing off Loki’s arms and watching it regrow with a green glow, pulling out his teeth one by one with the Prince screaming and begging to cease the painful tests and the final one, Maw cutting out Loki’s heart and stabbing it. That was the final straw.
Bowing his head, the Prince stared at the floor blankly and whispered, “I submit.”
You pulled away from Loki's mind in complete shock and you saw that Loki had been knocked to his knees and you kicked him onto his back. As the Avengers gathered around, you stepped away from Loki and snarled at him, "sit up. Now."
Complying, Loki sat up and winced in pain but hid it behind a smile but he did not speak.
You sighed and knelt down to cup his cheek as you studied his face, "are you alright?"
Loki stared at you but did not answer you and you stared at him before looking at the Avengers desperately, "he needs help!"
Thor turned to you and then looked at Loki before grumbling, "he will be seen to on Asgard. You are to stay here, you are still banished, Lady Y/N."
You walked with the Avengers down to where Thor would be using the Tesseract to take Loki home and you stood there with a frown on your face. You should be going back to Asgard with them but you were banished and if you returned to Asgard, you would be stripped of your magic.
As everyone was saying their goodbyes, you walked up to Loki and rested your forehead against his and whispered, "I will come for you, Loki. I will rescue you. I know what happened to you."
Despite being muzzled, you could tell that Loki was smiling at you and he nodded slightly, his chained hands reaching up to cup your cheeks. His eyes said a thousand words and your heart sped up when you saw the trust in them but also the love. You smiled softly and nuzzled his hands before stepping away and wiping forming tears away.
The moment Thor and Loki disappeared into the Bifrost, you watched everyone walk away and continue on with their day. You knew that they had their own lives but how could they just ignore the clear signs that Loki was tortured? Better to blame someone than to help them, you guessed.
Six months later, you were back on track with your life. Your boss understood your absence from work when you informed him of a well-formed lie that your family had died in the attack. But now you were walking home from work, your bag slugged over your shoulder as you sipped the Starbucks that you told yourself you deserved.
You approached the site where Thor and Loki had disappeared into the Bifrost and sat down on a bench, continuing with your Starbucks before screaming when the Bifrost touched down and Frigga stepped out.
She seemed relieved to see you and held her arms open for you, grinning when you dropped your Starbucks to run into her arms. Her arms caged you in and you sobbed into her chest, "I'm sorry," you cried as Frigga gently combed your hair with her nails, "I shouldn't have tried to learn Loki's seiðr!"
Frigga shushed you and continued with her bombing before pulling away to smile at you, "you have learnt your lesson. You can come home, Y/N, Odin may not like it but you need to be there. Loki... he isn't well."
Immediately, you looked up at her with a cold expression, "what did Odin do to him?"
"Locked him in the dungeons for eternity," Frigga answered solemnly, "Odin was less than understanding when Loki returned. I know something happened to him, you have to tell me what it was."
As you stepped a bit closer to her, you whispered a soft apology before showing her what you saw in Loki's mind. When she was finished, she dropped onto the bench where you had been sitting with one hand cupping her mouth as tears streamed from her eyes.
You sat beside her with one hand awkwardly on her shoulder, unable to find an appropriate way to comfort your Queen, "I have to see him, your majesty, he's suffering in his own mind. If I can just see him for a day..."
Frigga turned to look at you with a smile, "that is why I am here. Loki is to be freed but only if you come to escort him back to Midgard. He will not be allowed back on Asgard under any circumstance but his family are allowed to visit. Then again, I am assuming it shall only be myself and Thor that will bother visiting."
Despite hearing that Loki was practically banished, you beamed and hugged her, "I would love to take care of Loki here on Midgard but we will need to live somewhere that isn't America. I doubt they would be pleased to see Loki living here."
Frigga nodded and smiled before using her seiðr to show you a quaint house in the countryside, "as an alternative to New York, I have been organising this home since Loki was sentenced to the cells. You two are meant to be together. Don't worry, I also installed a pocket dimension in one of the walk-in closets that will bring you straight to Asgard's library. Odin doesn't know about that part and likely never will."
You beamed at her and hugged her tightly, "thank you, Your Majesty! But where is this house? Where will we be living?"
Frigga grinned and let the illusion drop, "you'll be living in Cornwall in England, my dear. There is a village just a mile away from the house and the next city isn't that far. I promise, you will be happy there."
You nodded eagerly before biting your lip and looking at the Bifrost mark, "can I come with you to Asgard to get him?"
"Of course," the Queen responded quickly.
~~~~~~
Getting you through the palace was difficult when everyone around you still believed you to be banished. Frigga had stayed by your side until you got to the top of the stairs leading to the dungeons and she squeezed your hand, "I have been forbidden from seeing my son but I trust that you will tell him that I miss him entirely."
You nodded nervously and smiled before walking down the stairs into the dungeons. As you walked along the halls of people locked up, you couldn't help but sympathise with those who looked like they hadn't done much wrong. There weren't many cells, but the one you needed was right on the opposite side of the hall. You saw Loki walking up to the barrier when you got there.
"So," the God drawled and you frowned as you stepped closer to the barrier, "you finally come to visit me."
You smirked and crossed your arms as you looked at him, "I was banished, remember? Odin forbade me but I am here now."
Loki just hummed and smirked at you but you saw right through the illusion and you sighed, "I see through you. Pull down your illusion."
Loki froze and stared at you before sighing and letting his seiðr engulf him until you were left seeing his cell in utter ruin. Loki himself was sat on the opposite side of the cell as everything around him was torn up and ruined.
You frowned and pushed your seiðr into the barrier, stepping through with a groan before dropping to your knees when you got inside. You got closer to Loki and knelt before him with a frown, "I'm sorry I never visited."
Loki looked at you before smiling to hide the agony his heart was giving him before looking away and shaking his head.
You continued to talk since you knew that Loki wouldn't just yet, "all that matters is that you're alright!"
Loki leaned forward and bared his teeth at you, "but I am not!" he seethed before returning to slumping against the wall and biting his nails anxiously.
"Right," you replied with a small smile, cupping his cheeks and smiling at him, "then we will be not alright together."
Loki turned to look at you with a small smile on his face and he leaned into your touch eagerly, "I would love nothing more, my love."
You giggled softly and held him close to you as you whispered gently, "Jeg lover, min kjære, jeg vil aldri forlate dinside igjen (I promise, my dear, I will never leave your side again)"
You pulled Loki into your arms and stroked your nails through his hair with a soft smile on your face, shushing him as you felt him trembling in your arms, "I saw everything. I know. I'm so sorry, you're safe now."
The barrier locking Loki in the cell slowly faded and you got to your feet, wrapping Loki's arm around your shoulder and hauling him up and out of the cell. You took the servant's way out of the palace since fewer people took that path and you sighed in relief as you got to the stables.
You went over to your mare and smiled as you pet her mane and kissed her neck, "good to see you, girl," you whispered and laughed when she nuzzled your neck in response.
As you saddled up your mare, you noticed Loki walking over to Odin's steed in a private stall; Sleipnir. You watched as the Prince walked into the stall and clicked his tongue. Sleipnir looked up from his hay towards Loki and he whined happily, nuzzling his mother happily and standing on a side so that Loki could saddle him.
Once you were both saddled and had left the stables, you smiled as Loki rode by your side and smirked, "what's one last bit of mischief to the Allfather, hm?"
You giggled and kicked off, heading down the Bifrost.
Loki trusted his son more than anything, sitting up in the saddle and embracing the wind passing through his long hair with a delicate look of victory. He trusted that Sleipnir would keep him away from the edge of the Bifrost as they continued their adventure and the wind running through his hair was a calming balm.
Once you arrived at the observatory, you dismounted your mare and guided her inside. Once you approached Heimdall, you smiled and bowed to him, "we are ready to journey to our new home. I will keep Loki safe and he will not cause trouble."
As you turned to look at your beloved, you saw a glint in his eyes that you knew instinctively was guilt and shame. Something had happened between the guardian of the Bifrost and Loki.
Loki strode over to Heimdall and you didn't miss how the guardian gripped his sword that bit tighter out of reflex. Loki bowed at the waist to the guardian with a frown, "I apologise for my behaviour a year ago, Heimdall. I was hurting and I wasn't in the right frame of mind."
Heimdall smiled and nodded to the Prince, reaching out and clasping his shoulder, "it is good that you are back to yourself now, Prince Loki. Your mother will certainly be relieved."
Loki beamed and nodded before looking over at you, holding Sleipnir's reins as Heimdall activated the Bifrost. In the next moment, you were outside a quaint house in the countryside and Loki stared at it in shock. There was enough land for Sleipnir and your mare to freely run around without bother.
Walking inside with Loki, you gasped at the sight of everything being as it should be in your mind. Frigga definitely knew everything about her children and those that would become her children. You turned to Loki with a bright smile on your face but squealed as he picked you up and walked upstairs.
Loki threw you onto the bed in the master bedroom and crawled on top of you, kissing you deeply and cupping your cheek as he did. You could tell that he was nervous but you knew it would ebb away when he got going.
The kiss became so much more passionate in a matter of minutes, Loki now had you straddled on his lap as you both kissed, his hand on your hip with his other one still cupping your cheek. Your hips were gently grinding against his thigh and your clit was brushing against him, sending sparks of pleasure through your body and you moaned into the kiss. You felt Loki's cock twitch at the sound and you continued to rub your clit against his thigh, your breath becoming uneven as you pulled away from the kiss to start panting from the building coil in your abdomen.
"You gonna cum, sweetheart?" Loki whispered into your ear and you whined desperately as you nodded. Smirking, Loki's seiðr added to your pleasure through sparks of magic and your head tilted back as you released a guttural moan. Loki took the opportunity and latched onto your neck eagerly to start littering the area with his bites and claims.
You reached out and desperately grabbed Loki's shoulders, your breathing becoming laboured as your hips continued to roll against his strong thighs, eyes slipping closed as pleasure flowed through your body and your whole body shook with the force of your first orgasm, your head falling to rest on Loki's shoulder as you whined and continued to roll your hips lazily.
Loki watched you with a smile on his face and he lifted your head with two fingers, pressing his lips to yours in a gentle kiss that sent your heart soaring. You allowed Loki to lift you again and suddenly, you were on your back on the bed, Loki kneeling before you on the floor as he pulled your soaked panties away from your core and he licked his lips as he stared at your dripping cunt.
You felt him gently stroking your folds and one of his fingers plunged inside of you and you whined in pleasure, one of your hands clamping over your mouth to hide the sinful moans before it was pulled away with a flash of seiðr and your moans were heard around the bedroom. Loki chuckled before latching onto your cunt and swirling his tongue around your clit as you whined and rolled your hips against his. He nibbled your clit until you were bucking down against him, riding his face and his hand. Loki peered up at you and admired the gentle flush covering your cheeks and your neck, painting you like a portrait that he knew would be etched into his mind forever.
As you were overtaken by the pleasure of his mouth eating your cunt, you whined and moaned as Loki slipped another finger inside you. He took his time learning every single bit of your cunt, scissoring and gently thrusting his fingers whenever he deemed you ready. Your second orgasm hit you like a freight train and your back arched off the bed as you screamed out into the night, "Loki!!"
That spurred Loki on and his cock twitched in his leather pants as he heard you scream from the pleasure that he was giving you. However, when he saw how dazed you looked, he wrapped himself around you and allowed you to come back down.
You didn't know how much time had passed when you finally came back down to earth but honestly? You didn't mind as you felt Loki's protective arms wrapped around you as you calmed down. Turning to face him, you cupped his cheek and pulled him down into another passionate kiss. Loki smirked against your lips and rolled over so he was on top of you, his body pressing against yours as he tried to press all of his love into the kiss and you moaned happily into the kiss.
Slowly, a flash of seiðr covered the both of you that resulted in the both of you now being completely naked and you gasped as you felt Loki grinding his hips against yours, feeling his cock rubbing against your clit each time and you whined into the kiss. Without pulling away from the kiss, Loki lined himself up and slowly pushed himself inside. You pulled away from the kiss to allow your head to fall back against the pillows as you were surrounded by blissful pleasure. Loki took this as another opportunity to latch onto your neck, nipping and grazing his teeth along your neck as he started to slowly move his hips to get you used to the size of his cock.
As the rhythm picked up, your moans became more and more sinful, your arms wrapping around his neck and holding him close to you as your nails scratched down his back, making his cock twitch at the pleasure and his hips stutter. Loki sat up on his knees and pulled one of your legs up and over his shoulder, his hand snaking around your neck as he glared down at you while pounding into you.
You looked so beautiful like this for him, your eyebrows scrunched as you focused on your pleasure and your moans becoming louder and more desperate the closer you got to your orgasm. "Are you going to cum, pet?" Loki growled down at you and your eyes flew open to stare at him as you started to nod eagerly, spurring him on to pound into you just that bit faster to make you see stars.
Words were far behind you now as you released a mantra of moans and broken pleas to cum, the coil in your abdomen becoming needier and needier as Loki continued to fuck you. Loki's hand fell to cup your mound as he continued to fuck you, his fingers slipping between your folds to rub your clit gently, sending you over the edge and into bliss. Feeling your walls clamp down around you, Loki released a deep moan and his head fell into the crook of your neck as his orgasm washed over him, spurts of cum filling you up.
After a few minutes, Loki pulled out of you and shushed you gently as he heard your disappointed whine and he smiled lovingly as he pressed a gentle kiss to your lips.
"I'm going to get us cleaned up," he whispered to you and you watched him carefully before you shook your head.
"Not done," you said lazily before pushing him down on the bed and straddling his hips. You smirked down at him, your seiðr glowing as you broke the glamour that was keeping him looking like an Aesir. Loki looked panicked until you rolled your hips against his cock and his eyes fluttered shut as your warmth engulfed the coldness of his cock.
After a few moments, Loki opened his eyes again when he felt you close to his face and he looked up at you with such vulnerability that you hadn't seen on him before you started pressing a kiss to every single one of the lines over his face. To you, it was only lines that you were kissing but to Loki? They were incredibly sensitive and had his cock standing to attention immediately as your lips started getting progressively lower.
By the time that you were paying attention to his stomach, Loki's eyes were squeezed shut from the unbearable pleasure and his hands gently held your hair away from your face.
"Wh-what are you doing?" Loki asked, his voice broken and trembling as he stared down at you.
With a gentle smile, you cupped his licked up one of the lines that led straight to his cock, "I saw what they did to you in this form, I want you to forget that and only remember this."
Oh. Oh, he loved you. His heart was fluttering as you continued to kiss every line on his body before paying special attention to his cock. You cupped his cock so gently and kitten licked the tip of his cock, enjoying the desperate moan that he released afterwards.
"Let me worship you, Loki, my God, my Prince," you whispered, kissing down his shaft to the base before licking all the way back up to his tip, making sure that it was over the lines that surrounded his cock.
"Not a Prince, not a God," Loki mumbled sadly, his eyes squeezed shut from the overwhelming pleasure, "just Loki. Jus' your Loki..."
Your heart warmed at that and you took him down your throat, enjoying the relieved moan that Loki released as you did and you started to bob your head and take more into your mouth. It wasn't long before Loki was mere putty in your hands, whining, preening and begging wordlessly to cum. With one final lick to the lines on his cock, your mouth was filled with his cum and you took him all the way down to the base to make sure that none of his precious gift was wasted.
When you were sure that he was done, you pulled away from his cock and showed him the cum in your mouth before swallowing the cold substance with a cheeky grin.
As he watched, Loki growled and grabbed your hips, pulling you up to kiss him again, your dripping cunt now pressing against his half-hard cock. As you enjoyed the kiss, you rolled your hips against his cock until he was hard again.
You sunk down onto him then, moaning in delight at the pleasure of being filled up completely by Loki. You braced yourself on his hands and moaned as you started to roll your hips against his, feeling so incredibly full of him that it was starting to send you mad. Loki kept a tight grip on your hips as he moaned beneath you and you smiled down at him, one of your hands working its way up to the beautiful horns atop his head and as you traced them gently, you were filled with the most wonderful feeling of love that you could imagine.
"I love you," he whispered, looking up at you with the sweetest smile that you had ever seen on his face and your heart melted as you smiled down at him.
"I love you too," you grinned, leaning down to press a gentle kiss to his lips.
You stayed this way for a while, you riding him and getting the both of you unbearable close to your orgasms before slowing down and then building back up again. This time, the teasing was over and you were bouncing on his cock in a hard rhythm as Loki was moaning in bliss beneath you. Instinctively, your hand fell to your clit and you swiped it in fast circles, the electricity taking over you in a matter of seconds as your orgasm hit you. Loki's hit him moments later and he roared from the bliss, sitting up and pulling you into a deep kiss, enjoying how your walls clamped down on him again.
Loki pulled you down onto your side and he waited a few minutes before grinning at you, "that was amazing, my love."
You nodded eagerly before Loki slipped out of you and you whined at the absence as Loki walked out of the room and returned with a damp cloth, making sure to wash away as much of his cum as you could and he used his seiðr to make sure the soreness wouldn't hurt as much in the morning.
Once the both of you were cleaned up, Loki got underneath the covers with you and pulled your back to his chest, one arm draped over your waist as he nuzzled into your neck with a tired smile.
"Loki?" you whispered gently, earning you a hum from him, "take a bath in the morning."
Loki huffed and rolled his eyes as he puffed out a laugh, kissing the nape of your neck and whispering, "only if you join me, beloved."

The Recruiting part 1 :
WARNING : VIOLENCE. MENTION OF ABUSE. MOMMY ISSUES. AND NOT FOR SENSITIVE SOULS. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED.
Growing up with the Hannibal Brothers had never been easy. It had mainly been a life of running and trying not to get killed in the process. You had had to survive the best you could for years, and even though the rest of the family had adhered to the cannibalism way of life…You had decided to follow Peter on that one.
It had of course been a struggle to leave the family and find your own path…but you had eventually managed. Both Hannibal Sr. and Hannibal Jr. had turned their back on you at the end—but your brothers had always supported you.
Being a Hannibal wasn’t easy. But, it had its perks.
For example, you had managed to get a job at St Louis. But, it had other advantages. First of all, the pay was unbelievably high, since everyone knew that the Hannibal family were all highly trained killers. You also had access to an impressive selection of weapons. And being a Hannibal meant that whenever one of you would get in trouble, the others would immediately drop everything and run to save them.
So, it may have not been a walk in the park, but you were thankful for your family. But then again, you also had duties. For example, your job wasn't nursing. It wasn't even in the medical field.
No. You were a tracker.
Your job was to hunt down patients or potential elements of interest and bring them back to St Louis. So far, you had managed to trap low-key criminals, but they had sent you another—more difficult—case.
The Sinclair Brothers.
50 years of tracking, and none had succeeded in retrieving them. But, they were alive. The many boxes full of different parts of the old trackers were regularly sent to the hospital to taunt you. And the hospital had finally called upon you to try to finish the job. So, you had had no choice but jump in the first car and drive off to the middle of nowhere. You had of course texted your brothers before going—in case they'd worry.
You were now on the road and turned right on the A25 to get towards Ambrose. You kept driving until you were close enough to the spot where the past agents had disappeared. However, you didn't count on the big rusty nails to puncture your tire and send you straight into the bushes.
After a few minutes, you gained back consciousness and groaned loudly at the pain you felt all over your body. You looked around and spotted a truck that had stopped a few feet away from you. You blinked twice before trying to reach for your gun that you hid underneath your blazer at the last second.
A man knocked at your window a few seconds later and you took a deep breath before slowly looking up—only to find none other than Lester Sinclair himself standing there. You knew he was more of a side character to the whole story of the Sinclair twins—but it didn't mean you would underestimate him. You slowly lowered your front window and he quickly introduced himself.
"Well, hey there. The name's Lester. Nice to meet y...", he stopped dead in his introduction as he took a better look at you. The man seemed taken aback upon seeing you—his eyes traveling along your body before licking his lips rather lewdly.
Tumblr media
"Ya' a girl ?", he finally asked and you blinked twice at the rather odd statement. He seemed genuinely surprised by your gender. As if the fact that you had two X chromosomes was an utter shock to him.
"...Yes ?", you answered hesitantly and Lester smiled widely before looking you up and down once more—as if he couldn't believe it. It had been years since the last girl he had succeeded in trapping. They were like white rabbits. Precious and rare.
"...So pretty. Like a princess.", he complimented you out of nowhere and you let out a small awkward chuckle. You weren't shabby, but truly unworthy of such a praise. Besides, the way he was looking at you gave you the creeps. His smile was crooked, and even though you didn't think he would do anything so soon—you wouldn’t put it past any of the Sinclair brothers. The twins were the true murderers, but he was the hound.
"Hum...Thanks ?", you answered after a while and tried to hide your feelings the best you could. His face was so close to yours—you could feel his hot breath hit your damp skin. The weather was extremely warm for a Saturday afternoon, and having Lester Sinclair so close to you didn't help in anything. He mistook your light shivering for fear of being stranded here and chuckled before opening your door.
"Ain't nothin' te worry 'bout. I know a good mechanic in town. He'll fix ya car right up. You'll be back on the road fast. Trust me."
For some reason, you didn't really believe him. But, you had a job to do. You smiled and nodded before getting out of the car. But, you stood up too fast and almost fell forward. However, Lester caught you and grinned as you practically clamped your fingers around his forearms.
"Wah, lady. Don't worry. I'll help ya keep yerself on yer toes." His smile broadened and he came impossibly close to you. You were surprised and instinctively palmed the gun at your belt. His eyes followed the movement and his smile faltered for a second.
"Ah. That explains it." He seemed a lot less amiable all of a sudden and his smile faltered a bit as his grip tightened. "Ya must be here to look for yer buddies, right ?"
"...Buddies ?", you asked—unsure of what he meant by that. He almost dropped you and you could see he was annoyed.
"Yeh. Soldiers. Big guys who came to gettus to sum hospital outta town ?" He clicked his tongue in annoyance and you frowned at his accusation.
"Hum...I'm not here to bring you anywhere. Just...taking a look around and ask you why you keep sending us their heads in a box ?" Lester's grip on you tightened as he almost dragged you to his truck.
"...'Cause ya ain't takin' us three away from home." He then threw you unceremoniously in the back of his truck and you gulped.
Well, that turned out to be a dumb decision.
But, headquarters had been adamant on their decision to be sending you alone. And now...you were trapped. You sighed and hit the back of your head against the headrest…It was going to be a long day.
Once you were in town, Lester parked the truck in a garage and humphed unhappily as he saw that it was empty. Bo must have gone for a smoke again. He shook his head disapprovingly. He had told him not to do that again…
"Stay here.", he instructed you before slamming the door shut and locking the truck behind him. He left and you gritted your teeth before trying to get yourself out the car by the window. You squeezed your head through and sighed when you realized...you were never going to get your whole body through. Unfortunately, you also realized that you couldn't get your head back in. You let out a loud frustrated groan while trying to wiggle yourself back in...until you heard a voice next to you.
"Well, hello there, ~stranger. Needa hand ?", the stranger that you couldn't see asked. You huffed a humorless laugh before replying sarcastically.
"Ya think ?!" That made the stranger laugh in return before he appeared at the corner of your eye—a large smile plastered on his face.
"That any way to ask someone fer help ?", he teased while wiping his dirty hands in a rag. You looked him up and down—as much as you could in your current situation—before asking.
"Are you Beauregard Sinclair ?"
His right eye twitched at the name...it had been a while since anyone had called him by his full name. He finally faced you fully and bent down to be at eye level with you. He tilted his head to the side and you could now smell the heavy scent of cigarette—as well as the faint sweet fragrance of bubblegum chewing gum.
"Cleve' one, aintcha ?", he mocked and you repressed the urge to roll your eyes. You both stayed silent, until Bo took a deep breath. He stood up straight and tutted playfully. "Too bad ya got stuck. Could have convinced me ya really were."
You closed your eyes and breathed deeply through your nose to calm yourself. He was playing games with you.
"Are you really going to let me stay like this ?" He pretended to think about it before shrugging.
"Depends. Are ya gonna tell me why a' here ?", he retorted and you groaned again before replying.
"I already told your brother. I'm here to find out why you've been declining our offer. The hospital would provide everything for you. You'd live like kings. Pampered. You'd be offered a brand new life surrounded by people who understand your problems..."
You realized your poor choice of words too late as the slight amusement in Bo's eyes turned into coldness. It made you shiver as he slowly leaned closer and made sure you hear his next words carefully.
"Who understand our problems, huh ? And pray tell, whata kinda problems are those exactly ?", he emphasized the word problem—as if to pinpoint the exact moment you had signed your death warrant. Your eyes widened and you opened your mouth to answer—but no sound came out. You weren't a damn doctor ! How were you supposed to tell him that he was a psycho murderer without making it sound the way it did ?!
"Listen...I didn't mean to sound judgmental or aggressive...I was just sent to convince you and...", you started.
"Yeh ? Well, yar doin' a terrible job at it.", he cut you off and your jaw twitched. That little...You took another deep inhale before trying to rephrase.
"Listen. I'm sorry. I just..."
"Yeh ? Ya' sorry ? Good fer ya'.", he cut you off again and this time, you glared daggers at him and didn't shy away from his gaze. Enough was enough. He would hear you.
"Listen here—!", you started and Bo immediately pulled out a switch knife from his breast pocket and pressed the sharp edge to your throat.
"I'm listenin'.", he said with a sh*t-eating grin and you closed your eyes. This was going nowhere. He didn't want to listen, and you had had more than enough...to die here. Your head stuck between the top of some truck door and the window. You stayed silent and even though, your eyes spoke mountains once they opened. If looks could kill ? Bo would be long gone. He could feel your anger and Bo's grin widened.
"Ya a tough one, aintcha sunshine ?"
Most girls he had his knife against their throat usually cried or begged...Oh. He had fun with some of them, telling them he would let them go if they showed him how sorry they were. But, he usually got bored easily. He smiled at the memory of their gruesome deaths and his smile sent shivers down your spine.
"Good. Am gonna have lots of fun with ya fer sure."
You didn't reply to his obvious provocation and Bo whistled appreciatively.
"And she a fast learner too !"
He then retrieved the knife from your throat and replaced it with his hand. He laughed as he saw the way you desperately gasped for air. There was something truly hypnotic about the way a human being would always fight for life. It was instinct. But, Bo never had that instinct.
His mother had once tried to drown him, and he'd have let her. He knew he was born wrong. But, he wouldn't let anyone tell him about his problems—especially not people from some hospital. He had had his fair share of doctors and so-called professionals telling him about what was wrong with him. None of them ever tried to help—or could find a goddamn solution. So, he wouldn't let another one of those useless fuckers tell him about HIS problems. They had no right.
He leaned forward to whisper in your ear.
"I ain't goin' to yer fuckin' hospital. And we ain't ever leavin' Ambrose, got that—ya stupid b*tch ?"
Left with no choice, you complied and nodded. Bo finally released you and left you there—your head still trapped and now spinning. Your last thoughts before blacking out going to your brothers. They must be worried sick. You had promised to call them as soon as you had arrived—and they knew you were of the ponctual type. You closed your eyes and sent them a silent apology.
Looks like you might not be coming back home this time...
A few hours later :
You opened your eyes to find that you had switched location. You were now tied down to a chair with tape on your mouth. You tried to wiggle yourself out—but failed. You could hear voices coming from downstairs. You were far from the door but, you could still make out the voices.
"Bo. She ain't all that bad. Maybe, we can keep this one ? She seems nice enough."
Lester. He seemed to be defending you. He was probably the less violent of all the Sinclairs. He had a very distinctively gentleness to his voice that was lacking in his brother's who replied.
"Yeh. Nice like a goddamn dog about to bite the hand that feeds. Don't be an idiot, Lessy. She's a fuckin' pest—like the rest ev 'em."
You should have known Bo would be difficult to dissuade. He had already held a knife to your throat, you knew the man was just begging for an excuse to get rid of you. To think your salvation came from one of the Sinclair brothers—the one who had brought here in the first place—was laughable. However, you had no choice but hope that Lester was as great at convincing than he was at luring people into Ambrose.
"Come on. Jus' be nice.", he tried again and Bo humphed grumpily in response.
"Ya really too soft, Lessy..."
You then heard a door slam shut and footsteps coming your way. You quickly scooted back and tried to leave as much space as possible between you and the door—just in case it was Bo who had decided to finish the job. Thankfully, it was Lester who came in and looked surprised as he saw you awake. He chuckled awkwardly and rubbed the back of his neck with one hand while the other was holding a plate.
"Ya awake.", he stated.
He then approached you—but stopped when he saw your eyes widen in fear. He stayed a few seconds frozen in place before attempting a reassuring smile.
"Sorry ya 'ed to hear all 'at. Ma brothe' can be one stubborn mule sumtimes..."
You couldn't help but roll your eyes at that. That. He was. Stubborn prick. Lester seemed to find your obvious agreement humorous and he smiled before crouching in front of you.
"But, don' worry. Vince seems te think it's a good idea to keep ya too." He raised his hands to gesture to the tape tightly secured over your mouth. "Am gonna feed ya now. Promise ya won't bite me ?"
You frowned. What was their deal ? Did they think of you as some kind of feral pet ? You shook your head and he smiled weakly before removing the tape of your mouth. He then brought a spoonful of what looked like scrambled eggs to your lips.
"Come on. Open wide.", he instructed and—left with little alternative—you indulged. He seemed happy when you opened your mouth and accepted the food. You chewed slowly and your eyes didn't leave Lester's who shied away first.
"Sorry 'bout kidnapping ya and stuff...Jus' couldn't leave ya when I saw that yer one of those people."
Aww...The kidnapper apologizing for kidnapping you. Wow. Not like he had do it so many times before. But, you'd play along for now.
"It's okay. I understand.", you replied with a weak smile and Lester beamed at you before taking another spoonful and bringing it to you mouth. Soon, you fell into a rhythm and even though you both fell silent—he didn't seem to mind. He kept staring at you and it didn't bother you as much as you thought it would.
"Ya know...I meant it." You frowned in confusion and were about to ask what he was talking about when he scratched his throat and clarified.
"When I said ya pretty."
You stayed inexpressive at first until the corners of your mouth twitched upwards. You attempted a smile that you knew wouldn't be real convincing for anyone else—but it seemed to be enough for Lester who smiled back. But then, he seemed to remember where he was and apologized once more before putting the tape back on your face.
Tumblr media
"Not too tight ?", he was courteous enough to ask and even though you knew better than to complain—your eyes said it all. Lester gave you a sympathetic smile. "Yeh. I know it ain't real comfortable. But, don' worry. You'll be allowed out of the room once we sure we can trust ya."
'And when would that be ?' You wanted to ask, but Lester was out of the room in a flash. You were left alone with your thoughts and looked up at the ceiling—counting three spiderwebs. Three spiders. Three brothers.
One fly.
Time lapse :
Lester kept coming to feed you every day after that. Bo didn't seem to want to get involved and the last brother had still not made his appearance. But, it was fine. You were fine with your one-on-one conversations with the youngest Sinclair. Besides, he usually talked about his brothers.
"Vince burned his hand with the wax again. I swear he's doin' it on purpose to annoy Bo.", Lester told you and you both laughed a little. He had been sharing daily stories of him and his brothers. There wasn't any useful information per say, but having another voice was helping keeping you sane. Lester kept feeding you spoon-by-spoon. At this point, you were certain he was doing it more for his personal enjoyment than anything. He then seemed to realize something as he asked next.
"Dya have any siblings ?"
You bit back a laugh at the memory of your brothers. It had been weeks already and you were sure they were now trying to track you down...but you weren't going to say that. Instead, you nodded.
"Three. Morgan is the oldest. A true gentleman. A doctor. Kevin is the second. A little mischievous. But, he can be really funny at times. And Peter...Peter is nice. He is a good little brother. Very skittish sometimes, but also very kind." You smiled and tried not to cry at the memory of your brothers. Lester seemed to notice your sadness as he suddenly seemed very uncomfortable.
"...Ya mus' miss 'em very much." You nodded in confirmation and Lester looked away guiltily before kicking invisible dust off the floor. He removed his hat and ran his fingers through his dirty blond hair.
"Ain't they goin' to come lookin' fer ya ?" You considered lying, but knew it wouldn't make a difference. The Sinclairs would never leave Ambrose willingly. They had made that pretty clear.
"Yes. Knowing my family, they'd be here any day now."
Lester stayed silent for a moment and you tilted your head to observe his expression very closely. He seemed to be thinking hard about something. He suddenly got up and opened his mouth—but reconsidered. He then walked out and you frowned as you heard yelling a few minutes later.
Then, another door slamming and the sound of an engine. The truck left.
You sighed and looked up at the ceiling. You were wondering when your family would come pick you up ?
The next morning :
"Getup, woman. Ya gonna cook for us."
That was your good morning from Bo. You didn't even realize that you were without restrains until Bo nudged your ankle with his foot.
"Hurry up."
You glared up at him, but still got up and walked towards the door. Bo had his shotgun in hand and you knew he wouldn't be afraid to use it.
"What do you want me to do ?", you asked as you arrived in what seemed to be the kitchen.
"Breakfast. Ya women know how to do 'at, right ?", Bo crudely replied before sitting down next to Vincent.
"That is some sexist bullsh*t.", you shot back and it earned you a nasty glare from Bo.
"Yeh ? Too bad."
'Sexist pig.' You thought before looking inside the cupboards. You could probably make some toasts ? You decided to try and smiled as you found a toaster hidden behind a pickle jar. You then proceeded to put some jam on the toasts. Bo picked one up and brought it to his mouth before smirking.
"Not half bad. Looks like you’ll be useful after all !" He then quickly ate his whole plate before standing up and giving a look to Vincent. It meant 'don't leave her out of your sight' and Vincent nodded in agreement. Vincent then took a bite too and finished his plate as well—but in silence.
He kept staring at you all day after that while you walked around. He wouldn't let you out of the house—but that was to be expected. Otherwise, he seemed easy to please and liked it when you did chores. He seemed to be happy when you decided to clean their clothes and his eyes even narrowed as you took the time to give a little attention to the many artistic endeavors displayed on the shelves. He was eager to point to each of his favorites and seemed excited when you gave each one a compliment.
You then waited until Lester or Bo came home before preparing dinner—helped by Vincent of course.
You hence became the official housewife. That was your life now. Lester was rarely seen, but when he came back he usually cooked. It made you realize that maybe the reason you had been made the only cook of the house was because none of the twins knew how to cook. And with your new job came advantages. You could now sleep on a bed (with the door locked of course) and no more restrains for now. At first, you thought weird that Lester didn’t come by as often as he used to—but you assumed he was trying to find victims. Because, that was their way of doing things. Lester would go and fetch. Bo would welcome and kill. And Vincent would turn them into wax dolls for their horror museum. You shivered at the sole thought of that horrible place. You had seen glimpses of it in the files. It wasn’t pretty.
One night, as you were sleeping—you felt two arms wrap around you from behind. You were too scared to move and didn’t—even when you felt the man nuzzle the back of your ear. He took a big breath and then moaned out.
"Mama…"
You closed your eyes shut and held back the tears as the man started holding you closer. You had seen photographs of the Sinclair's mother. You had read their backstories. They all had mommy and daddy issues. It was hard to really identify the voice. But, it oddly sounded like a distorted version of Bo’s. But, it wasn’t him. You were sure of it. The man was never careful about his gestures—whereas the hands travelling your body were soft and gentle. It wasn’t exactly unpleasant…Just awkward. And whoever that was, it wasn’t Lester. So, it only left you with one option.
"…Vincent ?"
He squeezed your hip in reply—as if to confirm. You took a deep breath and closed your eyes once more. There was no use fighting it. Vincent had always been his mother’s favorite and it was only normal he would find you to ressemble the only female figure he ever had in his life. What you found odd however was how he tightened his grip on you and seemed to be a little too…eager.
"Need you..."
Your eyes snapped open as he whimpered those words next to your ear and started grinding against your thigh. Well—shit. That was certainly unexpected. You thought back on a file you had found on some rumour that had never been confirmed about ‘Mama Sinclair’ and how she would often invite younger men into her bed. Had she…?
You felt sick just thinking about it and suddenly turned around to face Vincent who seemed stunned at being caught. You stared each other in the eyes and suddenly, you reached forward for his mask. He seemed to recoil at first—but finally allowed you to. When you removed it, you let out a soft gasp at the tear-filled eyes of Vincent Sinclair. His surgical scar was covering half of his face and made him look like a monster—but his eyes were the ones of a child.
"M'sorry, mama...", he whimpered pathetically and you felt a lump in your throat.
Fuck.
You didn’t know how to react and Vincent mistook your lack of reaction for horror. He humphed unhappily and tried to grab his mask—but you refused. Vincent was obviously upset and if you could gain another Sinclair’s sympathy…you would. You slowly hugged the man and tried to soothe him by petting his head gently.
"It's okay, Vincent...Ssh...You're alright."
It seemed to work as he tightened his hold on you and slowly drifted off to sleep. You also slowly closed your eyes—unaware of the other pair of eyes watching you in the dark.
Bo stared at the both of you for a while before he tsskd—feeling a pang of jealousy in his chest. It was the same when they were little. Vincent would always get all the love and affection. It upset him to see things being the same years later. And, worst part is ? You were taking advantage of it to make his brothers turn against him.
"...Fuckin' b*tch.", he spat hatefully before turning around to leave.
He'd make you regret ever making a fool out of him. He rummaged through the different things Lester had collected over the years from the various people they had killed and—sure enough—he found your bag. He didn't hesitate before looking inside it for anything interesting and frowned as he found a little box with written in neat cursive letter:
To my dearest sister,
From : Your favorite brother.
He opened the box and his eyes widened at the content. He carefully retrieved the emerald bracelet and raised it so he may look at it better in the moonlight. It was really pretty...the type of things mama would have killed for. The diamonds were sparkling and Bo smiled at it. Mama liked pretty things like that.
He closed it around his wrist and was uncharacteristically gentle as he stroked the smooth stones. He admired it, but his smile faded quickly as he realized that the pretty thing was contrasting with his marred skin. His ugly scars. It made him frustrated and even mad. His mama had never ever given him anything but pain, and the only things she ever owned never were as precious as this. He considered giving it back to you in pieces—but reconsidered. He held the jewelry closer to his chest and imagined it was a gift from you. If Vince could cuddle with you and Lester could have your little private meetings—it was only fair he'd have something from you too...right ?
It would be...unfair.
He closed his eyes and gritted his teeth.
It would be unfair if he was the only unwanted one this time around as well, right ?
The next morning :
Bo came into the kitchen and you tried to smile—but it felt very fake. And Bo wasn't fooled. He sat down—sprawled proudly like the bastard he was...waiting for the breakfast you dreamt of dumping on his head. Instead, you placed the plate of pancakes in front of him and—even though he hadn't complained once since you had taken the role of home cook—he seemed disgusted this time around. He stared at the plate for several seconds before asking.
"What the hell is that ?!", he asked rudely and glared at you.
"Pancakes.", you replied shortly and Bo's face flushed as you dared openly provoke him. He threw the plate to the floor and it shattered into pieces. You flinched and the noise alarmed Vincent who came in and looked surprised at the shattered plate. He almost mourned the delicious pancakes.
"DO THEM AGAIN !", Bo yelled—a vein threatening to burst on the side of his forehead.
You sighed and were about to comply—not wishing to fight Bo anymore. But then, you eyes caught the bracelet around his wrist and your eyes widened in shock. You then looked up slowly at Bo and your jaw twitched as you told him with chilling calmness.
"Give. It. Back." You spelled each word carefully—on the brink of rage. You had never tried to hurt any of the Sinclairs before, but you would for that bracelet. It was a gift. The last gift from your brother. The twins seemed surprised by your sudden change in demeanor, but Bo huffed a mocking laugh.
"And what if I don't, heh ? Whatcha gonna do 'bout it ?"
They were taken by surprise when you slowly lowered yourself to the ground to pick up one of the pieces of the broken plate and raised it towards them.
"GIVE IT BACK !"
Suddenly, Bo could feel that he had crossed a line. But, it didn't make a difference. He was still stronger than you, and you both knew it. He stood up and grabbed your arm—forcing you to drop the sharp object. He then dragged you to your old room and ignored all of your pleas as your skin bruised from all the pulling. You desperately tried to get him to let go, but he gritted his teeth and tightened his hold on you.
"Ya can't behave ? Fine. Guess we' back to the 'tied up' gig."
Vincent tried to stop him, but Bo shrugged him off and dragged you back to the attic. He then locked the both of you inside while you could hear Vince whine and pound on the door. But, Bo put his threat into execution and tied you up once more. You tried to fight back and in a moment of madness, you dared kick him in the chin. The both of you were shocked by what had just happened and Bo's jaw twitched. At that moment, every survival instinct in your body screamed at you to do something, before Bo decided you weren't as useful as he thought...
"I'm sorry. I...", you tried to apologize—but Bo didn't leave you a chance to finish. He slapped you.
You were shocked at first at the sensation. As far as you had lived in the house, Bo had never raised a hand on you. There was a significant change in his behavior pattern and you were suspicious it had something to do with what had happened last night.
"That what I get fer listenin' to Lessy's fuckin' advice on leavin' ye b*tch a chance.", he spat spitefully before finishing tying you up—his eyes devoid of any mercy or sympathy.
You had gained the two other Sinclairs over, and you thought it would be enough. But, you had forgotten the biggest threat of them all. Beauregard Sinclair was more than a killer—he liked seeing people suffer. It was an addiction. But, he didn't like to suffer. And you should have known that getting closer to his other two brothers and forgetting about him would be a mistake. It would hurt him.
Tumblr media
"Why do you keep me then ? If I'm such a b*tch. Just kill me already.", you finally challenged him—you cheek warming up and your eyes burning. You knew it was risky to ask, but you really wanted to understand. Bo seemed the less inclined to keep you, but he had never dared to go against his two brothers until now. Was he afraid they might turn the backs on him ? If so, you might use it to your advantage. Bo sighed before looking at the floor intensely—as if deep in thought.
"Let me ask ya sumthin', sunshine. Have ya seen any woman around here ?"
Your eyebrows raised in surprise. Well...Since most of the inhabitants were wax people...No. Not really.
"Hum...No ?", you replied after a while and Bo huffed a cruel laugh as he stared down at you. The way he was looking at you made you wish you had thought twice before opening your mouth.
"Exactly. We alone. We men. And we ain't seen a woman in more than 15 years...Ya followin' ma logic' ?"
Realization hit you like a freight train and it was like a bucket of cold ice being thrown at your face. The only reason you were still alive was because you were one of the only women who had stepped foot on Sinclair territory. Lester saw you as some pretty thing, Vincent as the reincarnation of whatever twisted relationship he had with his dead mother and Bo...You didn't want to know what he saw you as. You leaned your head back to scream at the top of your lungs.
"...HELP ! HELP !"
Bo chuckled at your miserable attempt to get help and caught your face with his hand, trapping you within his personal space.
"And she' loud. That' good. We like loud in this family. But, not too much. So, keep yer mouth shut if ya wanna liv', yeh ?", he threatened and you nodded vividly. You just wanted to live. You hadn't done half of the things you wanted to do.
"You're making a huge mistake. They'll come for me, Bo.", you tried to sound threatening—but it came out weak. He didn't know who you were talking about. And truth was ? He probably didn't even care.
"Lettem come. They'll have one hell of a surprise.", he confirmed your hypothesis on his 'no fuck given' mindset. He then slammed the door shut after him and you looked up at the ceiling with tears in your eyes. Your cheek stung from where you had been struck and you felt terrible—but you were still alive. You would take a win where you could.
You stayed in the darkness for hours until the door opened and someone entered. It wasn’t Bo or Vincent, this shadow wasn’t menacing or tall. The presence was almost soothing as you knew it to be friendly.
"…Lester ?", you called out and the shadow stopped dead in its tracks. Suddenly, you were blinded by the blaring light and blinked several times before looking up at Lester. At the sight of your black eye, Lester seemed to pity you and slowly started to stroke the bruised side of your face.
"Oh no...What happened ? Did Bo do this ?", asked—even though he already knew the answer. His lips tightened into a thin line and he wordlessly got out of the room and returned with a wet rag. You hissed when he applied the cold material to the bruise and he apologised in a low muttering. You stayed silent until a tear rolled down your cheek.
"I'm going to die here...", you told him after a while and Lester stopped his ministrations to shake his head.
"Hey hey...Ssh...Ya ain't dyin'. Not on my watch." You knew he was trying to reassure you—but you were tired. You also knew you would come to regret it later, but you snapped.
"HOW THE FUCK WOULD YOU KNOW, HUH ?! YOU LEFT ME HERE ! YOU LEFT ME WITH HIM ! IT'S YOUR FAULT !" He flinched as you started yelling at him—but didn't stop taking care of the swelling. He knew he deserved your painful words. He had left you. But, it was too late now. What was done was done.
"Shoulda been there but, I wasn' 'caus Bo's right. Am too soft." He seemed so vulnerable as he confessed it—it rendered you speechless. Lester was now staring at his hands on his lap and seemed on the brink of tears too as he confessed. "That night when ya told me 'bout yer brothes'...I wanted to release ya. Bo told me I was bein' an idiot...maybe he right. Maybe, am jus' an idiot."
You wanted to be mad at him. Tell him that he was right. Hurt him like they hurt you...but, Lester seemed so pathetic. You realized you couldn't.
He made you think of Peter.
"You're not...an idiot. He is. You kidnapped me, remember ?", you tried to smile—but it hurt your cheeks by how fake it was. You weren't happy, but something about Lester made you pity him. Lester seemed surprised as you tried to comfort him and offered you a crooked smile of his own.
The pitiful sight he was offering made you heart skip a beat for some reason.
And then, you kissed him.
You were taken by a sudden urge of madness that made you lean forward and kiss the man. There was no real goal or reason. There wasn't any hidden intent. You just...wanted to feel less alone.
Tumblr media
"W...What did ya do that fer ?", he asked when you pulled away—dumbfounded.
You shrugged in response.
Between Bo and Vincent, you really didn't have a chance at convincing them of letting you go...but, Lester...Lester was different. He had tried to help you, and you would get allies wherever you could get them.
Until your brothers arrived that was.
Lester stayed frozen for a few seconds before it seemed to dawn on him what had just happened. His ears and cheeks suddenly flushed red and he grinned from ear to ear. He didn't really know why you had done it, but he was happy to have had his first kiss with an actual woman. He had arrived to a point where he thought he would have to use one of Vincent's pieces of art as practice...He giggled to himself before looking up at the sky. Even his ma had told him that he would never find a woman. Well, he did find one.
He then looked around and frowned as he realized you were back in the attic. He sighed and ran his fingers through his hair before looking back up at you. He then pondered if he should move you ? Bo had locked you up, but he felt bad leaving you up there for the night.
He then took a decision and decided to untie you. He was afraid you might try to escape—but you were strangely docile. You knew you were surrounded by a forest that ran far beyond what you could see. And the Sinclairs knew the forest better than anyone. It would only be a matter of time before any of them caught up with you.
Lester lead you to the bedroom you had been staying in on Bo's good days. And then, something clicked as you saw something you had failed to noticed before...the sweet smell. Your bedroom smelt like old cheap perfume and something else—something rotten. And there were multiple pictures of Bo and Vincent in the room—but none of Lester.
You knew who that room belonged to now.
"It was your mother's.", you voiced your conclusion out loud and Lester stopped dead in his tracks before nodding slowly.
"Yeh. It was."
There was a certain bitterness in the way he had said that. Bo and Vincent seemed to worship their parents...but, you handy heard Lester talk about them once. There was also no recording whatsoever of their relationship.
It was like...he had never existed for them.
You opened your mouth to ask—but one look from him and you knew better than to go through with it. He lead you to the bed and—much like Vincent—started cuddling you. But, you knew he didn't see anyone else but you at that moment. It wasn't like Vincent who saw you as his 'mama' or Bo who seemed to hate your guts just for reminding him of her...He held you like you were the most precious thing in the world.
It made you unconsciously smile and you finally closed your eyes. You both fell asleep in each other's arms.
In the morning :
Bo joined Vincent in the kitchen and almost spit out his coffee at the sight of three men in the street. He frowned and remembered your earlier discussion.
You said they would come.
"Well, I'd be damned ! The b*tch was right. Those idiots came.", Bo said with a mixture of surprise and amusement as he spied the men from the window. From where he was standing, those three kids would barely qualify as a threat. They looked like church boys on their way to Sunday mass. He chuckled and shook his head slowly before grabbing his shotgun.
Tumblr media
"Ready to defend our home, Vince ? We goin' to have some fun.", he grinned widely before running upstairs. Time to greet their guests with the proper welcome they were due…
"LESSY ! GET YER BUTT OVER HERE !" You heard Bo’s lovely voice calling Lester from downstairs and he almost fell off the bed. When Bo barged in and spotted the two of you together—he saw red.
"REALLY, LESSY ?! REALLY ?!" He took Lester by the ear and dragged him out of the bedroom. He then told Vince to stay and watch over you—which he agreed to. You walked to the window and smiled as you saw the three familiar figures.
They were so screwed now.
Outside :
"So...That is the infamous Ambrose ? Not going to lie. It is far less impressive than I thought. I am disappointed.", Morgan stated while looking disdainfully at the little houses all glued together by dust and dirt.
Tumblr media
"We're not here for tourism, Mo'. Besides, there are plenty of spider webs and you know how much I don't like spiders...", Peter replied while dusting his shoulders for the third time since they had entered the town.
"AND I'VE BEEN ATTACKED BY AT LEAST 50 MOSQUITOES SINCE WE ENTERED THIS DAMN FOREST !", Kevin complained loudly behind them before slapping dead the mosquito that had had the misfortune of landing on his arm.
Morgan rolled his eyes in response and deplored his brothers' lack of appreciation for Mother Nature.
"You savages should learn to appreciate your surroundings. Besides, remember why we're here. Y/N was spotted around those parts."
Suddenly, Bo got out of the house and all the Hannibal Brothers' eyes were suddenly on him.
"Heya strangers ! Welcome to Ambrose !", he welcomed them with a huge grin—but shadow of his cap his his eyes from view. Morgan frowned suspiciously.
"Hello there. We were wondering if you wouldn’t have seen our sister around here recently ? Tall/Short/Average height. Blond/Brunette/Dark-haired. Curly/Wavy/Straight hair. E/C.", he asked and Bo pretended to think about it for a moment before shaking his head.
"Nop’. Sorry. Ain’t ringin’ any bells. Besides, we ain't gettin' many visitors around those parts.", he replied—but Morgan wasn't convinced. Kevin snorted rather rudely beside him before snickering.
"Yeah...Really surprising."
Peter smiled and Morgan glared at the both of them before returning his attention on the man.
"I see. Thank you for your help."
Bo tilted his head in acknowledgement and nodded shortly.
"No prob'. Hope ya do find her." He raised his hand to bide them farewell—unexpecting it when a knife was suddenly throw at him and pierced his hand.
"SON OF A BITCH !", he shouted loudly before taking cover behind his truck. Bo took a deep breath before slowly looking in the review mirror. It was the oldest one that had thrown the knife, and by the look on his face ? The kid was damn not regretting it. He shook his head before pulling the knife out and bandaging the wound with his handkerchief. He then sighed heavily before letting his curiosity get the best of him.
"What gave me away ?", he asked and Morgan took a moment before finally replying.
"…The bracelet you are wearing. I gave it to her." Bo chuckled to himself as he looked at the bracelet around his wrist. Perceptive kid...
"Ya know ya ain’t leavin’ this town alive, right ?", he told them and was answered by Kevin's snicker and the sound of a gun being loaded.
"…We’ll see about that.", Morgan simply replied as he got out another knife from underneath his lapel coat. Kevin smirked as he knew what was about to go down and took out his bow and arrows. Peter had his gun pointed towards Bo's truck and at that moment, they all unconsciously smiled.
It seemed Ambrose wouldn't be as disappointing after all.

More House of Wax (2005) but the Sinclairs discovered therapy so they’re just normal guys and now its a sitcom…
•chia pets. Bo has a Willie Nelson chia pet, Lester has a hedgehog, and Vincent has Bob Ross.
•Bo forces everyone to watch football. Vincent hates it. Superbowl season is his least favorite time of year.
•Bo drags Vincent out of the house once a month, aside from therapy appointments and Lester’s road trips. (“You’re a hermit.” “No, Im just selective of who I interact with.” “…thats.. thats a hermit.” “[pulls out dictionary] actually I- oh.” )
•Vincent’s workspace is littered with Bob Ross merchandise. Posters with his phrases, replication paintings from when he and his brothers watched it, even a life sized cardboard cutout. Bo is a little creeped out at this point.
•Radio is everyone’s best friend.
•when they were younger, Bo went out and bought an old banged up truck with money he that got fixing up other cars and odd jobs around the area. The trio always used to go out on weekends and race around the countryside. It started when Lester was about 13. Bo would purposefully drive recklessly through old farmland, whipping around turns as music blared from the radio so loud that whoever was sitting in the truck bed could hear it as they were jostled around. When Lester was younger, but begged to sit in the back, Vincent would join him to act as his human seatbelt which was shockingly effective, all things considered. Its a fond memory for all of them, and sometimes, every so often, they’ll all pile into Bo’s old truck and relive it.
•Bo and Vincent got “Im with stupid” shirts when they were younger, and they still have them. Yes, they both still wear them, to each other’s chagrin. (“[staring at Vincent wearing the shirt] why did we spend our allowance on this at 14..” “[shrugs nonchalantly]”)
•despite the fact that Bo is notorious for just making TV dinners, he is actually a very good cook, as is Lester. Sometimes, if Vincent is particularly pesky about it, or if he recruits Lester into it, Bo can be convinced to cook a decent meal that actually takes effort.
•On a related note, Vincent is exceptionally good at reverse psychology. He’s also highly skilled at “puppy dog eyes” but he’d rather use reverse psychology. He finds Bo’s reactions very amusing.
•Both Bo and Vincent like to bake, and Lester always loves when they do.
•Bo and Lester like to go to carnivals, fairs and theme parks. Vincent gets roped in because his brothers go. He enjoys the rides, secretly, but really doesn’t like the crowds. Bo won his brothers giant stuffed toys at the games, and one time he even won a fish. Vincent keeps it, and it has since been named “Mr. Fishcasso III”.
•Lester has shown up randomly in the middle of the night, most of the time after a long day, and asks if he can just have tea and watch movies with Bo and Vincent. Vincent has to keep Bo from legitimately combusting for five minutes before they agree.

Let Your Guard Down
you watch as Joel slowly starts to open up to you and Ellie more, and you talk to Ellie about her mom. when you make it to Kansas City, things get tense and Joel tries to mend the bridge between you two.
joel x fem!reader
one, two, three
Joel finally decided to stop and set up camp so everyone could get some rest. The three of you got everything set up for a camp, and you started warming up some of the Chef Boyardee. Joel had Ellie help him get the rest of the stuff to set up camp out of the truck. She was still talking his ear off, going on about how it was her first time camping in the woods. Joel was quiet, and eventually she gave up and came to talk to you.
“Did you and my mom ever sleep outside like this?” Ellie asked as she sat down next to you, and watched you stir the food in the pot, “Also, what is that stuff?”
“Hopefully some good tasting ravioli,” You smiled at her, “And for your first question, yes we did, there was a point and time where Anna and I slept outside for about three nights in a row,”
“Really?” Ellie looked hopeful that you would keep talking about this, about her mom.
“Mhm, we were supposed to be doing something for the Fireflies, your mom had the worst sense of direction, and hated being wrong,” You looked at Ellie, “So when I would suggest we were lost, she would tell me that she was sure she knew what she was doing,”
“Did she ever?”
“Oh yeah, she did, she was so smart, sometimes just had a tendency to rush herself and everything around her,”
“Did you ever, did you ever know my dad?”
You shook your head, “No, Anna and I got separated for about a month, then when we were reunited we found out about you,”
Ellie tried her hardest to not get a wider smile on her face, “It’s so cool that you knew my mom,”
“Yeah, and I want you to know that she would think you’re awesome.” You put some of the food on a plate for her, and whistled at Joel to let him know to come eat. The three of you sat down, and started eating. Joel was trying his best to be proper about it, cutting up his food. You just used your fork to cut the raviolis in half. Ellie on the other hand, was scarfing down the ravioli as if it was going to be her last meal.
“Slow down,” Joel sighed, and Ellie glared up at him.
“This is slow,” Ellie’s mouth was full so it sounded a little muffled, “It’s so good,”
“It’s twenty-year old Chef Boyardee,” Joel continued eating, “And I actually agree on it being good,”
“So how long are we staying out there?” You asked, “I could drive tonight if you want? I just need at least a small nap,”
Joel shook his head, “I figured I would sleep tonight, and drive all day tomorrow, make it to Wyoming by the next morning,”
“Should we set up a fire? I’m freezing” Ellie asked, but both you and Joel looked at her.
“Now why am I going to say no?” Joel snapped a little, and you lightly kicked him.
“The infected will see the smoke,” Ellie looked at you both, and you shook your head.
“They aren’t that smart, I think what Joel meant to say is we have to be careful of other people,” Ellie’s face flashed with a bit of nervousness. You tried to reassure her with a smile, “So we just need to take some precautions, that’s all,”
“Oh, would they rob us?”
“They’ll have way more in mind than just that,” Joel took a bite and you glared at him again. Ellie looked a little nervous for a second before she looked at you.
“Can you tell me more about my mom?” Ellie changed the subject, and you nodded your head. Joel glanced up a little, curious to see what you were going to say.
“Oh Anna,” You smiled to yourself, “We met two days before the outbreak, and she despite everything happening around us she still found a way to have a sense of humor about things, she got me through those first days,
We traveled together, Marlene was there too, but she started with the Fireflies and Anna and I got sent out together to try and recruit more people, so we just got even closer, after the first year she was my sister even if it wasn’t by blood,”
“Whoa,” Ellie looked at the lamp, “What did she look like?”
“A lot like you actually, you two have different eye colors, but there’s no denying you’re her daughter,” This made Ellie smile even more, which made you feel a lot better. Joel had been listening to the two of you, and watching you closely the entire time. There had been so much of your life that he didn’t know either, and it made his heart ache in the same ways yours did..
After everyone laid down, Ellie asked again if anyone would be able to find you all the way out here. Joel was the one to reassure her this time, and a little bit later you heard him get up from his sleeping bag. You rolled over and saw him standing guard at the tree line. After a moment of hesitation you stood up and went over to him, gently touching his arm. He jumped a little bit, then relaxed when he saw it was just you.
“You should get some rest Joel, I’ll do the watch,” You smiled at him, “I can sleep tomorrow in the truck,”
“I can handle it, Bill had coffee stored up so I can just make some of that in the morning,” Joel looked back at Ellie, “Just want to make sure I was right, and no one does come,”
“Well, then I guess I’ll stay up and watch with you, just in case you fall asleep,” You crossed your arms and leaned up against one of the trees. Joel stared at you for a second, before he nodded. He knew that you wouldn’t just listen and go lay back down.
“So, her mom.. What happened to her?” Joel asked quietly, you tensed up a little, “If you can’t talk about it, I understand,”
“A little bit after Ellie was born, she got bit by an infected, Marlene had to shoot her,” You clenched your jaw to try and force the sounds of her cries and that gunshot that filled your head, “I kept Ellie for about a month, until we made it back to Boston, Marlene thought she’d be safer in the FEDRA school, and I couldn’t argue,”
“Why not just, keep her? Stay in Boston with her?” Joel asked, but the underlying question was really him wondering why you didn’t stay where he could’ve found you sooner.
“Marlene had me convinced that I couldn’t do it, and maybe she was right, I hated leaving Ellie there though, so I left the Fireflies and left Boston,” You looked up at the stars, “It’s my turn to ask, what happened with Tommy?”
“Well, in true Tommy fashion, when Marlene approached him and told him that he could help change the world, he bought into it,” Joel shook his head, “Last I heard he quit the Fireflies, and is somewhere out West by himself, so I figured if we find him, we find the Fireflies,”
“Wyoming right? That’s the goal?”
“Yeah, between the two of us I have a feeling we will find him, then he can get us to where the kid needs to be,”
“And if we can’t find him?”
“We will, I’m persistent,”
“Oh really?” You didn’t mean to sound so offended, but you couldn’t lie that you were. If he was so persistent, why did he give up on you? Joel looked at you for a second, before he shook his head.
“That’s different,”
“Yeah, no, I bet it is huh? After all you can’t replace your brother, so why give up on him? But you did find Tess, so I guess that made it easier huh?” The silence was heavy between the two of you. All of the pain and anger you felt slipping through the cracks. You had tried to replace him too, you tried to give up, but you couldn’t. No matter how hard you tried you couldn’t let go.
“Y/n, you have to understand that I thought you were dead, there was no word from you, no signs of you being alive,” Joel was trying to keep his temper under control, even after you threw Tess back in his face, “I had no reason to even think that you survived,”
“Yeah, I didn’t either Joel, zero reason actually, but I didn’t give up because I loved you, and dammit I still do,” Joel’s eyes widened a little, “I know it’s not fair, I know you’re mourning Tess, but you could’ve at least acted like you were a little relieved I wasn’t dead,”
“Y/n,”
“Or maybe a little more explanation on what happened to Sarah? She was the closest thing I had ever had to a child Joel, for almost ten years of my life she was the center of everything for me too,” The tears were starting to sit in the corners of your eyes but you didn’t care, “She called me that first night, she was so damn scared, and I couldn’t do a fucking thing to help, so I promised myself that when I found her, when I found you, I would never let go again,”
“She wasn’t your kid Y/n, she was mine, and maybe if you would’ve never went on that damn trip in the first place, we wouldn’t be in the spot we are now.” Joel said it so fast, and the words sat heavy between you both. Your eyes widened a little as the idea settled in your head, Joel gave up on you because he blamed you. He blamed you for Sarah’s death.
Except that wasn’t what he wanted you to think, he didn’t even think it himself. Joel just didn’t know how to say he had to give up, because it was just either to believe you were dead. So that he would never have to see the look in your eyes when you found out that Sarah was dead. That she was dead and it was all his fault. He knew how much you loved her, and how much Sarah loved you. Joel had been scared of finding you, because he was scared that once you knew he had failed, you would never see him the same again.
You walked away before he could say anything else, and opted for sleeping in the truck. You couldn’t fall asleep though, and you couldn’t cry. Neither one would happen, so you just sat and stared out of the window. The pain in your heart felt even heavier than you could bear, but Ellie was out there. Anna’s Ellie was out there, so you couldn’t let it sit for too long. You could still help her, you could still make sure that she would be okay. After whatever tests the Fireflies had in store, you would take Ellie somewhere with you. You would never let her go again.
The sun started to come up, and you could hear Joel getting stuff out of the back of the truck for coffee. You only moved from your spot in the front seat to the backseat. After Ellie was awake, and everything was packed up again, she went to get in the back but was surprised to find you there instead. You told her to just take the front seat, and told her you wanted to get some more sleep. Joel was tense when he got into the truck, and couldn’t bring himself to even look at you. The feeling was mutual though, so you just closed your eyes and laid in the back. You listened to Ellie ask him questions, about Tommy mostly.
“If you don’t think there’s hope for the world, why bother going on?”
“You haven’t seen the world so you wouldn’t know,” Joel paused, “You keep going for family,”
“I’m not family,”
“No, you’re cargo, plus I made a promise to Tess, and she was like family,”
Then she asked the same thing you did last night, “What if you don’t find him?”
“I will.”
“How do you know?”
Joel hesitated for a second, he took a deep breath, “I’m persistent.”
Finally you fell asleep, and you didn’t wake up until the next city. Joel was looking at the blocked road, and Ellie looked back at you. You asked her what was happening and she shrugged her shoulders, she had been asleep too. Joel got back in and explained the plan was to find another way around. So you started to help Ellie with the map, trying to find a way out of the city. You were taking side streets, when you first spotted the QZ. It was abandoned, and empty. Then the man stumbled out onto the street. Joel told you both to buckle up, and Ellie was confused why he wasn’t going to stop and help him, but you told her to just listen to Joel.
It happened so fast you didn’t really understand what had happened at first. Something smacked into the windshield, and then Joel lost control of the truck. It started to spin out, and crashed through a building. Then the bullets started, as you were trying to get out of the backseat, one almost hit you in the arm. Joel pulled you out the rest of the way, and looked you over.
“You okay?!” He yelled, his hands shaking slightly, you nodded, your body hurt but it wasn’t too bad, “Ellie you okay?”
“Yeah, yeah I think so,” Joel looked around the room before he pointed out a hole.
“Do you think both of you could climb through there?” Joel asked, you looked at it, and you thought it might be a tight squeeze for you but it was possible, “When I say go, you two start for that hole and don’t come out until I say so,”
“No, Ellie, you go, I am staying and helping you,” You glared at Joel, “I’m better with a gun than I was twenty years ago Miller, accept the help and shut up,”
Joel wanted to argue with you except there was no time, so instead he focused in on Ellie, “They’re not going to hit you, you go through there and you stay until one of us says it’s clear to come out,”
Ellie couldn’t focus on him, there was too much happening around her for that to happen.
“Hey! Look at me,” Joel got her attention, “They’re not going to hit you, you stay down, you stay low, you stay quiet.”
“Go Ellie, it’ll be okay.” You reassured her too.
Once she was safe behind the wall, you and Joel started to fireback at the other guys. Joel hit one of them first, and once the other was closer you got him. You thought the coast was clear, and it got quiet for a second. Your ears were ringing from the sounds of the gunshots, but all you could think about was making sure that Ellie was still okay.
The door behind you busted open, and a third guy came through it. Joel was trying to get his gun to reload, but was able to smack the guys gun so he couldn’t shoot either of you. You tried to grab his gun from him, but he ended up shoving you backwards. Your head smacked against the counter that was behind you, and you slumped down into it seeing stars. The back of your neck started to feel warm, and you were trying to focus in on what was going on. The guy was on top of Joel now, and from the looks of it about to kill him. Ellie slowly started to come into view, and she had a gun. Where had she gotten a gun? You wanted to yell at her to get back behind the wall, but you couldn’t talk or even move. Then she shot him, and you couldn’t hold on any longer. Your vision went out, and you went unconscious.
When you started to come back to it, Joel was slamming himself into a door. Then he picked you up bridal style, muttering something about you still being too light. He got you inside and set you down, then had Ellie help him blockade the door. Ellie kneeled down and looked at you, she came more into focus as she tried to talk to you. Joel kneeled down too, his hands gently leaning your head forward. You hissed a little from the pain as he did.
“I’m sorry,” He whispered, trying to move you gently, “Can you hear me?”
You nodded, and touched the back of your head. Your hair felt sticky, and when you pulled your hand away you could see blood on it. You grimaced a little, and tried to shake it off. Ellie looked at you nervously, but you started to push yourself up. Joel was quick to help you, and he looked at Ellie.
“I’m okay, I’m good, I have my pack and I grabbed Y/n’s off the ground after I..” Ellie trailed off, she looked back at you, “You’re okay right?”
“I’ll be fine,” You tried to smile, “We need to move, get out of here before more show up.”
Joel carried your backpack for you, and the two of you snuck out the back. A couple of trucks went by, and you could hear them yelling about someone named Bryan. The three of you ran across into another building, and made your way into another hiding spot. You slouched against the wall, your breathing a little uneven. Your head felt like it was going to explode at any second with how much it was still throbbing. Ellie looked at you nervously, and Joel had you turn around so he could get a better look. He moved your hair gently again, his fingers gently brushing through it.
“It won’t need stitches, but you did cut it open,” Joel sighed, “You feel okay?”
“Yeah, yeah I know where we are at, and I remember what happened so I’m good, probably just a concussion,” You sighed, Joel went to peek out of the newspaper covered windows. You all could hear trucks rumbling through the streets now.
“Are we safe in here?” Ellie looked at Joel, and he nodded.
“Looks like they’re checking out apartment buildings first, then they’ll probably start looking into these,” Joel sighed, and moved away from the window. Ellie looked out of it, pointing out a really tall building.
“Yeah I saw, as soon as we don’t hear trucks, we move,” Joel looked at you, “Fast as we can,”
They both sat down, Ellie on the floor next to you. She pulled her knees up to her chest, and looked at Joel, “Are you okay?”
“I’m all right,” He hesitated before he looked at her again, “Are you.. All right?”
Ellie just nodded, and you looked at Joel. He gave you a look that said he would explain later. You leaned your head back against the wall, and closed your eyes for a second. Joel started to talk again though, so you opened them back up.
“Thing is, I didn’t hear that guy coming, you shouldn’t have had to..” Joel sounded like he was trying to be comforting, but he didn’t know how to actually do it, “You shouldn’t have had to, you know,”
“Well you’re glad I did, right?” Ellie looked up at him, “I mean he was going to kill you, and probably Y/n,”
“You’re just a kid,” Joel’s voice was softer when he looked at her, “You shouldn’t know what it means to, it’s not like you killed him, but I know what it’s like the first time that you in hurt someone like that.. If you uh, w- I’m not good at this,”
“Yeah you really aren’t,” You and Ellie said it in unison.
“I mean, it was my fault, you shouldn’t have had to.” Joel looked at the two of you again, but you were looking at Ellie, “And I’m sorry,”
The tears started for Ellie, and she tried her best to hide them. Both you and Joel watched her. You knew if you tried to comfort her, she would just reject it. She was a lot like Anna on that front, she didn’t want to seem weak. Especially now, when from the sounds of it, she had to do something to save both you and Joel. You looked up at Joel, who was still just watching Ellie try not to fall apart in front of you both.
“It wasn’t my first time,” She said it so quiet, you almost didn’t hear it. Joel pulled the gun out, and moved towards Ellie.
“Show me your grip, finger off the trigger,” Ellie held the gun, he scoffed a little bit, “Now, who taught you that?”
“FEDRA school,”
“Figures,” You watched Joel show Ellie how to properly hold the gun. Once she had a good grip on it, he grabbed it and shook it to show her that it wasn’t going anywhere. Ellie finally giggled again, and you were smiling at them both. He reloaded the gun for her, and handed it back to her. She went to put it in her pocket, but both you and Joel stopped her.
“Put it in your pack,” You laughed, and held a hand out to Joel to help you up. He shook his head at Ellie, and helped you up off the ground.
“You’ll shoot your damn ass off,” Joel started to un-board the door, he sighed a little and looked at both of you again, “We’ll get through this,”
“We will.” You smiled, and Ellie agreed.
The three of you made it to the building, and both you and Joel groaned at the sight of all the stairs. You all started to make your way up, and you made it to the thirty-third floor. Joel slid down against the wall, and you were knelt over breathing a little heavy. Ellie looked at you both, before she held a hand out for Joel.
“Get up you lazy ass,” Ellie laughed, and helped him up. Joel glanced up at her.
“Lazy ass” He muttered, “I’m fifty-six you little shit, Y/n’s not too far behind,”
“Hey fucker, six years is significantly far behind in my book, I haven’t even hit fifty yet still got a couple months,” You laughed, trying to catch your breath. Ellie smiled at you, and you both followed after Joel.
After you finally found what you believed to be a safe room, you and Ellie started setting up some pillows to make into makeshift beds. Joel started spreading glass around, and you and Ellie looked at one another confused.
“Joel?” Ellie asked, but Joel didn’t hear her the first time so she said his name a little louder.
“What?” He looked back at you both sitting on the cushions.
“What are you doing?”
“Do you guys want someone to sneak up on us while we’re sleeping?”
“Ohh, I get it, crunch crunch crunch,” Ellie nodded, before she flopped back on her pillows. You smiled and laid down too, it was a pretty good plan, “You sure you gonna hear it?”
“Yeah that’s the whole point,” Joel walked over to his, and Ellie just accepted it and said goodnight, “Yeah, good night,”
After a few minutes of silence, Ellie finally started to talk again, “Can I ask you guys a serious question, I meant to when we were camping the other night but Y/n made me go to bed,”
“What is it?” You looked at her, and Joel turned back.
“Why did the scarecrow receive an award?” Ellie was trying her hardest to sound serious, but the smile on her face was starting to give her away.
“Because he was outstanding in his field,” Joel answered it in such a serious tone, both you and Ellie started to laugh.
“You fucker! Did you read this?” Ellie smiled at him, but he shook his head, “Okay, hold on, here’s my actual question did you guys know that diarrhea is hereditary?”
“What?” You and Joel said it in unison.
“Yeah, it runs in your jeans..” Both of you stared at her, and she finally snickered. Then all three of you were laughing together, Joel tried his hardest to hide it.
“That is so goddamn stupid,” Joel said between laughs.
“You laughed, motherfucker,” Ellie accused and he shook his head, you were still laughing.
“I didn’t laugh,” Joel said, while still laughing, “Jesus I’m losin’ it,”
“Oh you’re losing it big time,” You laughed, and he looked back towards you. His smile looked the same as it did twenty years ago. All three of you laughed for a little bit, until Ellie finally fell asleep.
Neither you or Joel could fall asleep though, not when there was too much to say. He looked over at you, and nodded towards the other side of the room. You nodded yes, and got up to follow him quietly over there. Joel leaned against the wall, his arms crossed. Your mind flashed back to the first time you two had got into an actual fight. Even if it ended with you making up in the end..
1997
Joel got out of the truck, and slammed the door behind him. You groaned to yourself, still a little drunk. Joel walked over and opened your door for you. The sun was starting to make its way up, and you couldn’t remember if Sarah was at her sleepover or not. Joel helped you out of the truck, and inside the house. Once you were both inside, he let go of you and walked away from you. Part of you wanted to follow him, but he had never been this mad at you before.
“Joel?” You followed him into the kitchen, your voice smaller than you had ever heard it before. You felt like a little kid again, just waiting for the punishment.
“You want some breakfast? Since it’s five in the morning?” Yeah he was angry.
“I’m sorry, I lost track of time, and my phone wasn’t working,” You were standing next to the table, watching him get into the fridge. He wouldn’t even look at you, “If I would’ve known Tommy was there sooner, I would’ve had him call you sooner..”
“You were supposed to be at the bar, so how exactly did you end up at a house party?” Joel scoffed, “Also what happened to, ‘I’ll either call you or a cab at 12?’”
“Well, the girls wanted to go with some of the guys they met that night, and I felt bad ditching them,” You whispered, “I didn’t realize it was going to be a house party, or that those things were going to happen,”
Joel slammed the fridge and you flinched back, “I get that you’re young or whatever, but going to some sketchy ass house is seriously stupid and naive Y/n,”
“Oh, so that’s the card you’re going to pull, that I’m young?” You hated the way he was talking to you, “Jesus Christ Joel, you’re only six years older than me, stop acting like you have a decade over me,”
“No but clearly we can see where maturity levels are in this relationship,”
“Oh forgive me, I didn’t realize that acting like a normal person in their twenties means I’m immature?” Your voice was now getting louder, “I understand that you didn’t get to do it, you had Sarah, but I told you I wanted to call you sooner but my cellphone wouldn’t fucking work!”
“You know what? You’re right, you wanna be a normal person in their twenties? You go right ahead, go fucking crazy, but you won’t be doing it near me or Sarah!” Your eyes widened a little, and you nodded slowly. Joel’s face was red, a clear sign that he was pissed. You turned on your heels and went upstairs to start throwing the clothes you had left here into a bag. Joel was sitting on the couch when you came back down with your bag over your shoulder, “What are you doing?”
“From the very beginning I have done nothing but tell you that I love being here for you, that I love being here for Sarah, I love getting to do these things because the bars, parties, all of that shit doesn’t even matter to me,” You were crying now but you didn’t care enough to hide it; “I have one bad night, where things don’t go the way I planned, where I end up uncomfortable and scared because I don’t know where I’m at, and you threaten me with that shit?”
“I wanted to call you sooner, but I couldn’t find a way to, I wanted to come home sooner but my friends made me feel bad that I hadn’t been out with them in awhile,” You grabbed your keys off the hook, “Then by the time we’re at the house I realize how drunk I am, start asking everyone for a phone to call you until finally I come across your brother and he calls you for me, I didn’t realize we were an hour away, by the time I found Tommy I started crying because I was so relieved,”
“Y/n,”
“I’m not finished,” You cut him off, “So yes you are rightfully pissed, I shouldn’t have stayed at the bar later, I should have called you sooner and none of this would have happened, I will give you that, but don’t act like I am some out of control twenty-six year old who is a danger to your fucking daughter,”
“Just put your keys up, we can talk about this after you sleep,” Joel stood up, but you stepped away from him and shook your head, “You can’t fucking drive right now, don’t be stu- no I don’t mean stupid Y/n,”
You laughed and walked out of the front door, slamming it behind you. You got in your car and started sobbing finally. You weren’t worried about driving yourself now, everything that just happened was enough to clear your mind up entirely. There was a brief hesitation, hoping that maybe Joel was going to come outside and stop you. He didn’t though, so you took that as your sign and started driving back to your apartment. Luckily it was only a ten minute drive. You got inside and let yourself crumble as soon as you were laying on the couch.
You didn’t know how long you had been asleep, but you woke up to the sound of someone in your kitchen. You laid on the couch a little longer, trying to convince yourself it was just a dream. You could see your kitchen from where you were laying though, and you could see Joel in there at the stove. You tried to decide whether you should go talk to him, or avoiding this for now.. Avoiding was the option, and you went to your bathroom to take a shower. You locked the bathroom door behind you though, even though you had a feeling he wouldn’t try to follow you right now.
After a good shower, you got dressed in a pair of pajamas pants and one of Joel’s shirts. You came back out of the bathroom, and he was leaning against the counter in the kitchen, his arms crossed. You looked at him, the tears threatening to spill over again. Joel shook his head, and uncrossed his arms to pull you into a tight hug. He held you as tight as he could, as if you were going to float away from him. Joel kissed the top of your head a couple times, and apologized at least fifty times.
2023
Joel’s arms being crossed the way they were, reminded you of when he apologized to you. When he told you that he would never think of you as a bad influence for Sarah, that he just said those things out of fear and a little anger. You wanted to be hopeful, that maybe another apology was coming, but you also were starting to wonder if there was any part of the Joel you once knew left.
“Sarah, she.. I..” Joel looked down at his feet, you could’ve swore his eyes flickered to Ellie for a second, “You were her mom, you were a damn good one too, so I shouldn’t have said what I did earlier Y/n,”
You were a little shocked by his apology, you didn’t know what to say. Instead, you started to cry again. You hated breaking down in front of him, but instead of pushing you away.. Joel pulled you into a hug, his arms tight against you. You pushed your forehead against his chest, trying to muffle the sounds of your cries so Ellie wouldn’t wake up. Joel held on tight to you, and he rubbed your back slightly. You held on tight to his shirt, afraid that he was going to slip away again.
Joel didn’t cry, he couldn’t let himself cry over it. Yet in that moment, he felt relieved that someone shared his grief. The same amount of grief for that beautiful little girl who was his daughter. For the first time in twenties years since it had happened, Joel didn’t feel as alone in dealing with the loss of Sarah. He finally realized that he had been grieving you too, but he didn’t need to do that anymore. You were here now, you were there and you were alive..
“Move your mats closer to me?” Joel whispered, you were shocked but also relieved, he was finally letting his guard down with you again. You nodded your head, and the two of you walked back over to your spots. You moved the cushions you were using closer to his, on the other side so he could still face you.
The two of you fell asleep that night, not holding each other, but just looking at one another..

hell yeah baby backstory time
it is time for the boston tea party caper!!
Tumblr media
notes under the cut assss always
this episode is a bit of a mix-up for me. i like it but not my favorite all things considered. i'm still excited though- some of the moments in this episode are GOLD
HQ!!!
JHSGHSD "hey red hows san diego" "not great" "im not talking about you girl"
"i thought he lived in the cloud"
player looks so unamused pls
PLEASE "though i am hearing voices again" HOW WAS THAT RELEVANT. WERE U HEARING VOICES BEFORE
shadowsan is the best character here he's so funny
THE "THAT IS NOT WHAT I MEANT"
if they vowed to use their "superpowers" for good and ivy hotwired that car later on i guess maybe they used to steal cars and then decided to go straight maybe
ivy is so cool
OH hey also by the way their younger designs. SO GOOD carmen should have gotten a dorky in between phase we were robbbbed
Tumblr media
small
not trey and his butt chin
i like how the screen glitches when its paused on trey. new headcanon this is a powerpoint presentation they threw together right then and there
you dare knock LYDIA
"i got this" zack says with the confidence of a man who just ate taco bell learning they won't see another restroom for eight more hours on the road trip
the talking through the race kills me every time 😭you can't hear each other
man this racetrack has an overhead drone keeping exact pace with the leading car
zack had a chase devineaux phase too once
carmen sandiego: oh no no we're rated for seven year olds!! the boston tea party caper: the mafia boss who lent us money threatened to put a hit out on us if we didn't commit a robbery for him on a suspicious front for a money laundering operation for the mob
the main reason i dislike this episode and need for speed is because zack doesnt ever get to learn. he was impulsive and it was bad in duke of vermeer, he was impulsive and it was bad in boston tea (okay fine, it shows us his younger self! fine with that) BUT THEN HE IS IMPULSIVE AND ITS BAD AGAIN NEXT TIME. FOR THE SAME REASONS whyyy wouldn't they take duke of vermeer as an opportunity to show his growth instead of making him out to be some angry no control childish idiot who sacrifices untold amounts for a little payback. and drags ivy down with him EVERY TIME
there's something so cool and sinister about ivy smiling, reassuring him, and then slowly pulling down the ski mask to hide any emotion. ivy and zack seem like they could have been prime targets for VILE recruitment- they could have gone down a much darker path
shadowsan was so invested
carmen's puberty crammed in those few months between the boat and the boston holy shit
player accidently saved zack and ivy's asses by turning off those cameras jgjsgkd
the second perspective of zack crashing into the wall kills me every time pls
here goes carmen with "its for your own safety" who taught her that phrase
i love how z and i immediately think that this person couldnt possibly be...i dont know. an employee or a manager or someone who works at the donut place. she's gotta be another thief. i mean they are right but like why
the giant ass green vault behind the fridge door 😭
WE'RE FOLLOWIN THAT LADY FOLLOWIN THOSE BREADCRUMBS TO THE DOUGH
wait didn't they arrive in a truck parked on the other side of the building
carmen ALSO had a chase devineaux phase
???? isnt that truck she just stole the one they got there in???
i mean carmen. girl. you kicked them out of their own robbery and then stole their car did you expect them not to follow you
carmen's devineaux side coming out <3 also completely shameless carmen cant drive comic plug
there are so many car accidents literally everyone could have died in for these two (this and need for speed) episodes. credits roll as the paramedics show up to carmen who just CRASHED HER CAR INTO A FUCKING HOLE HEAD FIRST
they had to make sure to show us that carmen was literally the worst driver possible to justify zack being there
i love zack immediately getting super friendly with the random woman who just stole their car, crashed it, and then stole it again with them inside
carmen: haha suave quip zack and ivy, the two most neurodivergent bitches on the planet: IN THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR
also carmen looks hilariously uncomfortable wedged behind this shipping crate. she's experiencing her first infodump
the loaning money joke is actually very funny
i kind of like how awkward carmen still is in some areas. she still talks like a VILE operative- she reports her every move to player, she simply responds with "understood." because thats the only way she knows how to relate
Tumblr media
ANGY
ivy: oh no camera: zooms out to show the most outraged face the animators could draw
Tumblr media
screenshots of all time
can you imagine your weirdgirl little 16 year old classmate dips and you see her a few months later and she's turned into this trenchcoat wearing 5'7" long haired adult woman whose only goal is to make your life a thousand times harder
not quite sure how this episode said "oh yeah. her classmates who knew her as a kid constantly call her by the wrong name and disrespect her despite constant corrections. and also her mother figure, seeing the new her, disowns her with the proclamation that this new person killed her child when she took this new name and betrayed her" and made it not transgender
le chevre was so cool about everything for like three minutes
HEY okay my favorite detail of the show is that when carmen runs in this episode she gets way out of breath because she isn't in shape yet i LOVE that detail
i have never heard more emotion from gina than when she went "YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME"
THROW HER OVERBOARD
el topo is also cool about things for like three minutes
zack and ivy bounce constantly between dumb orange cat energy and golden retriever who would jump into the ocean for a guy who petted them once energy
legend has it carmen still manages to throw el topo and le chevre in the water every time they are within a mile of it
i love le chevre backing up and running away from her because he's like oh shit. wasn't she like the best in our class?? is she going to kill me or something?? why did she leave VILE what the fuck im booking it nah
YEAH I NEED THE ROPE CARMEN IS SO MEAN IN THIS EPISODE ITS SO FUCKING FUNNY
IVY RESPONDING TO THE ASK FOR "MUSCLES" WAS A UNIVERSAL LESBIAN WIN FOR EVERY SINGLE PERSON ON THE PLANET GOD WHAT AN ICONIC SCENE. MILADY. ALL SHE HAD TO DO WAS KISS HER HAND GOD
its never brought up ever again that ivy's "shirt" is actually a blue undershirt and a black vest and that is criminal we needed a gay vest. something
the slomo kick is so hot
LE CHEVRE STEPPING ON HER HEAD
those plates must have hurt so fucking bad
okay well. you DO commit crimes
"the police have no idea they exist" okay. TELL THEM
Tumblr media
SEE? VEST.
"got any room for us on your next job?" "you know what? sure! come along and help me take down this global criminal organization. uhhh what are your names again btw?"
yall i dont think eddie is going to want to see you for the money
A FLYING CAR he said yeah zack that was smart
i love how offended by literally everything the bostonians do shadowsan is

Best Underrated Anime Group H Round 2: #H5 vs #H8
#H5: Middle school soft tennis club deals with trauma
#H8: Zombies make really good music
Details and poll under the cut!
Tumblr media
#H5: Stars Align (Hoshiai no Sora)
youtube
Summary:
Constantly outperformed by the girls' club, the boys' soft tennis club faces disbandment due to their poor skills and lack of positive results in matches. In desperate need of members, Toma Shinjou is looking to recruit capable players, but he fails to scout anyone. Enter Maki Katsuragi, a new transfer student who demonstrates great reflexes when he catches a stray cat in his classroom, instantly capturing Toma's attention. With his interest piqued, Toma ambitiously asks Maki to join the boys' team but is quickly rejected, as Maki doesn't wish to join any clubs. Toma refuses to back down and ends up persuading Maki—only under the condition that Toma will pay him for his participation and cover other club expenses.
As Maki joins the team, his incredible form and quick learning allow him to immediately outshine the rest of the team. Although this gives rise to conflict among the boys, Maki challenges and pushes his fellow team members to not only keep up with his seemingly natural talent, but also drive them to devote themselves to the game they once neglected.
Propaganda 1:
Covers a wide variety of issues and gets into the nitty-gritty of the often under-prosecuted instances of child abuse in Japanese society. Multiple LGBT characters, subversions of gender roles, a simple but appealing art style, and some really talented seiyuu to top it all off.
Propaganda 2:
This series is so amazing even though it was cut halfway through (and the trigger warnings, mainly in regard to the environments many of the characters live in) make it difficult to suggest at times. It’s half a sports anime and half a drama, switching between the sports sections and explorations of the lives of the characters involved, the latter of which is the part I really adore. The story discusses the heavily discussed topic of abuse pretty well and also has a good handle on discussions about things like gender (specifically in regard to a canon non-binary character, though there is also a minor character who is a trans man who is also discussed) that I haven’t seen too many other series address, or at least not to the effectiveness of this story. The characters also just have so much charm and compliment each other well, and I love watching them get closer and interact. They’re buddies, and I adore the boys soft tennis team plus Yuu and Mitsue (+ Arashi I guess. He’s from a different school’s team and directly opposed the team, but he very quickly becomes their friend afterwards), as well as all of their dynamics. It’s not a watch for when you’re looking strictly to have a fun time or looking for a complete story, but it’s an amazing story regardless. Also, I love the opening and ending songs so much. I wish this series got its season two so much because it’s so good, I don’t think I did it justice at all.
Trigger Warnings:
Child abuse: Most of the cast is from an abusive household, including mcs.
Domestic abuse: Off-screen/implied, parent of a main character.
Gender/sexuality discrimination: From a parent to a non-binary character + from bullies to a gay character.
Emotional abuse: Some major characters have emotionally abuse parents, this is shown on-screen.
Minor injuries: Blisters, bruises, one scene with plenty of blood but clarified to just be a minor head wound afterwards. etc.
Tumblr media
#H8: Zombieland Saga
youtube
Summary:
Sakura Minamoto dreams of becoming an idol. Unfortunately, reality hits her like a truck, and she dies in a sudden traffic accident. Ten years later, she wakes up in Saga Prefecture, only to find herself a zombie with no memory of her past. While still coming to terms with her demise, she meets a man named Koutarou Tatsumi, who explains that he has resurrected her and six other zombie girls from different eras for the purpose of economically revitalizing Saga by means of an idol group. Assuming the role of an abrasive manager, Koutarou begins scheduling events; the girls go along with it, eventually deciding to name their idol group Franchouchou. An absurdly comedic take on the idol genre, Zombieland Saga tells the story of Franchouchou's heartwarming struggle to save Saga Prefecture while hiding their zombie identities and rediscovering their past lives.
Propaganda:
ITS SO GOOD OHMYGOD. First of all, the music? Amazing. The 3D animation they use for the dancing isn’t the best, but the songs are all bangers. The story is also amazing—it’s just the right blend of silly and serious to really get you to love and care about the characters. And it WILL make you cry. It’s a really cool take on zombies and really uses the full potential of its premise really well. Its dub is also actually good. The acting is great, and the jokes are translated perfectly.
Trigger Warnings: Animal Cruelty or Death, Child Abuse, Gender Identity/Sexuality Discrimination, Graphic Depictions of Cruelty/Violence/Gore

Riley McDermott, South Carolina inmate 367945, born 1990, incarceration intake in 2016, at age 26; scheduled for release 02/21/2030
Felony DUI resulting in Death
A former police officer, charged with lying, could have derailed or at least seriously hurt the prosecution of a man charged with killing three young people in a DUI wreck, but instead, Riley McDermott decided not to try to take advantage of that situation and pleaded guilty in an Anderson County courtroom in 2016.
As part of a plea deal, McDermott pleaded guilty to three counts of felony DUI with a death and two counts of felony DUI with great bodily injury, but an additional charge of felony DUI with a great bodily injury was dropped.
McDermott, 26, has insisted since the beginning that he would not try to have bond hearings or move to have critical evidence thrown out, even if that meant skipping a chance to shorten what became an 18-year prison sentence, his attorney Druanne White said.
McDermott was driving drunk, shortly after midnight on Nov. 8, 2014, when his pickup truck — going 73 in a 35 zone — crossed the centerline and plowed into another car, said assistant 10th Judicial Circuit Solicitor Lauren Price.
The wreck killed 22-year-old Corey Austin Simmonds, 17-year-old Amber Hope Perkins and 20-year-old Jessica Ann Roberts.
The wreck happened at Boulevard and Williamston Road, near a residence hall at Anderson University where McDermott was an assistant baseball coach.
The cars collided with the force of a bomb blast, said attorney Steve Krause, who represents Perkins’ younger sister, Cheyenne Perkins, who was 11 at the time of the wreck.
Cheyenne was trapped in the car, counted by officials as a fourth fatality until Deputy Anderson County Coroner Don McCown felt a faint sign of life. Also a trained paramedic, McCown gave Cheyenne Perkins an emergency tracheotomy in the back of the car and is credited with saving her life.
Circuit Court Judge Cordell Maddox said it is highly unusual for people accused of crimes to meet with their victims before the case is resolved.
"That’s a first for me in 15 years on the bench," Maddox said.
McDermott’s mom, Laurie, told the judge she knows about a lifetime of kindness her son has given to neighborhood children, elderly family members, classmates and to her when she had cancer.
“I know he would do anything in his power to undo that night,” she said.
McDermott’s best friend, his pastor and his former girlfriend also spoke to his compassion and love for others. His head coach at Anderson University, Jim Miller, said he had charged McDermott with recruiting not for talent, which anyone could do, but to recruit for character.
There was little doubt, family members of several of the victims said in court, that McDermott was, until that night, a good kid.
But so too were the people he killed, they said.
Hanging over the hearing like an elephant, Maddox said, were the actions of an Anderson Police Department officer, who was not named in court but was identified based on the charges mentioned by prosecutor, the judge and other attorneys for family members.
The officer, Gene Frank, was charged earlier this month with misconduct in office related to his work on the case and was fired from the Clemson Police Department, where he had been working after leaving the Anderson Police Department.
Frank is accused of telling his supervisors and prosecutors that he had tried to get a judge to get a warrant for McDermott’s blood after the wreck, according to prosecutors. Phone records showed he did not call the judge and instead made a decision to authorize the blood withdrawal at AnMed Health Medical Center citing exigent circumstances, Price said.
Maddox said he felt compelled to make the unusual step of commending the police department, in the court record, for being honest after discovering what happened.
“It needs to be said on the record that your department has acted in the way we all want police departments to act,” Maddox said. “You didn’t give up and stop, you didn’t hide any facts once this case went off the tracks.”
The judge said if McDermott had tried to get evidence withheld, Price would have been scrambling at a trial, which wouldn’t have happened for years, to get a conviction.
He told McDermott that his life could still be worthwhile if he were to try to stop others from driving drunk.
McDermott was given a chance to speak to the victims.
He turned away from the judge, toward the crowd.
“From the bottom of my heart I’m sorry,” he said. “The good thing about being in jail is I don’t have a mirror so I don’t have to look at myself in the face.”
While several family members had expressed forgiveness or wished peace on McDermott, Charlie Harris said he wanted a longer sentence.
Harris is raising his two-year-old granddaughter since his daughter Jessica Roberts’ death.
After the sentencing he said there aren’t enough laws to protect victims of DUI fatalities.
“He still gets to see his family,” Harris said. “His family can see him, can hug him when he’s out. I can’t see Jessica, and my granddaughter won’t know her mother.”

The last thing you believe that should do while you're lamenting the passing of a friend or family member is drive to and fro to the nearby dump to store many carloads of their belongings. In addition to the fact that this emotionally burdening, however every vehicle trip likewise is occupies important cleanout time. Trash removal masters will bring a truck and burden the contents of the home up at the same time. Then, they'll deal with disposal, reusing, or donation for your sake. Since a junk haul company should know about every nearby rule and codes for trash unloading, you won't need to stress over fines or tickets for improper disposal. At the point when you watch the junk haul truck drive off your cherished one's property, you can inhale a moan of help knowing that the task is finished.
Dumpster Rental
If you need help with trash removal yet can't bear or don't need help with arranging and conveying weighty things, consider contacting a junk hauling company for dumpster rental. Generally speaking, the dumpster group will drop off the container toward the beginning of the rental time frame, you'll fill the container with trash, and afterward the team will get back to move the dumpster away and discard the contents. This is much of the time a less expensive junk haul elective that will in any case significantly abbreviate the cleanout process.

LUCY’S THIN BLUE LINE
Lucy and Law Enforcement ~ Part 2
Tumblr media
On “The Lucy Show,” Lucy Carmichael not only had multiple run-ins with the police - she actually became one for a couple of episodes!  Here’s a look at Carmichael and Cops!
Tumblr media
“Lucy and Viv Become Tycoons” (1963) ~ When Lucy and Viv open their own business at home, they are visited by Sergeant Robbins (Bern Hoffman) to check on their permits and operating practices. In 1960, Hoddman appeared in the Lucille Ball / Bob Hope film The Facts of Life.
Tumblr media
“Lucy Drives a Dump Truck” (1963) ~ Driving a truck to a nearby town, Lucy and Viv are pulled over by a Brewster policeman played by Richard Reeves, a veteran of nine episodes of “I Love Lucy” including playing a policeman in “Equal Rights” (1953). This is his only appearance on “The Lucy Show.”
Tumblr media
“Lucy and the Safe Cracker” (1963) ~ When Mr. Mooney gets locked in the safe (again), Lucy contacts a safe cracker (Jay Novello) and Sergeant Wilcox (James Flavin) is on the scene. Coincidentally, Flavin played the Immigration Officer searching for Mario Orsatti (Jay Novello) in  “Visitor from Italy” (1956). He will return to “The Lucy Show” two episodes later to play Sgt. Wilcox again in another bank-themed episode. He appeared in four films with Lucille Ball, including playing a police sergeant in Without Love (1945). During his long career he played so many officers of the law that his IMDB photo is of him in a police uniform!
Tumblr media
“Lucy and the Bank Scandal” (1963) ~ Sergeant Wilcox (James Flavin) investigates a case of embezzelment at the Danfield Bank. Lucy suspects Mr. Mooney and digs up his yard to find the stolen cash.
Tumblr media
“Lucy is Her Own Lawyer” (1964) ~ Officer Joe (Joe Mell) the Baliff, swears in Lucy Carmichael as well as Mr. Mooney and Nelson the dog! Mell returns as a Baliff in “Lucy the Meter Maid” (1964) and a Bank Guard in “Lucy the Stockholder” (1965).
Tumblr media
“Lucy the Meter Maid” (1964) ~ Lucy joins the Danfield Police Force as meter maid. When Viv doesn’t feed the meter, Lucy issues her a summons and they land up in court. Once again, Joe Mell plays the Baliff.
Tumblr media
“Lucy Makes a Pinch” (1964) ~ Still on the Force, Lucy is recruited to be part of a stake out. The episode features three of Danfield’s finest (left to right): Murdock (Jack Searl), Captain Bradford (Alan Carney), and Detective Bill Baker (Jack Kelly).  As a child actor, Jack Searl was featured in the 1932 film Officer Thirteen, about motorcyle cops. Alan Carney played a policeman in the 1963 comedy classic It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World. In 1955, Jack Kelly appeared on a TV series titled “City Detective.”
Tumblr media
“Lucy the Coin Collector” (1964) ~ When Lucy drops a rare coin down the sewar grate, she is consoled by a cop on the beat (Ray Kellogg).  his is the second of his seven episodes of “The Lucy Show.” He also did two episodes of “Here’s Lucy.” Just as in his other screen credits, most most times he played policemen, as he does here.
Tumblr media
“Lucy and the Ceramic Cat” (1965) ~ While Lucy breaks into Bigelow’s Department Store, Viv stands guard, diverting the cop on the beat (John J. ‘Red’ Fox). Fox was best known for playing policemen, which is what he did on five of his eight appearances on “The Lucy Show” as well as three of his five episodes of “Here’s Lucy.”
Tumblr media
“Lucy, the Stockholder” (1965) ~ After buying a single share of the Danfield Bank for $32, Lucy the stockholder pays the bank a visit. She warns the lackadaisical guard (Joe Mell) that she has a nine year-old nephew who is quicker on the draw than him.
Tumblr media
“Lucy and the Undercover Agent” (1965) ~ Trying to get access to performer Carol Channing, Lucy charms Military Police (MP) officer Sol Schwartz. The character name was specifically chosen so Lucy can sing “Hello, Solly” to the tune of “Hello, Dolly”.

Tumblr media
“Lucy Goes to a Hollywood Premiere” (1966) ~ Mr. Mooney is questioned by Officer Collins (Robert Foulk) of the Beverly Hills Police Department. He doesn’t have a permit to sell maps to the movie stars’ homes and is hauled down to the police station. Foulk played the Brooklyn policeman on the subway platform in “Lucy and the Loving Cup” (1956). He will go on to play six characters on “Here’s Lucy,” two of them policemen.

“Lucy Meets the Law” (1967) ~ Lucy thinks she’s being arrested for littering when she is actually being mistaken for a red-haired jewel thief. Claude Akins (Lieutenant Finch) is perhaps best remembered for playing Sheriff Lobo in “B.J. And the Bear” (1978-79) and its sequel “The Misadventures of Sheriff Lobo” (1979-81).
Tumblr media
Jody Gilbert plays the jail matron aka ‘Tinkerbell’. Gilbert will also appear in two episodes of “Here’s Lucy,” in one of which she also plays a prison matron.

Fic Author Self-Rec
Share five of your personal favorite works, then tag five authors to do the same. Thanks, @penny-anna for the tag!
(I'm gonna stick to the Back to the Future fandom on this one since that's the majority of my audience here on Tumblr.)
Once Upon a Time in the East (OUAT #2)
Marty and Buford follow their mutual enemy across the country to get back Tannen's fortune, forever changing the trajectory of Marty's life. A ruthless, all-or-nothing world of wealth, deception, indulgence, and blackmail brings Marty to his knees once more, and this time, he's not sure he'll make it out alive.
Once Upon a Time in the West was pretty amazing, but I really do think I topped it with the sequel. I took a lot of personal leaps in my writing with this one, and it paid off. I'm a more confident writer now because of this one.
2. Now I Am Become Death
In 1943, a restless professor of physics at CalTech rejoiced when recruited to work on the top-secret Manhattan Project. Dr. Emmett Brown's contributions at Los Alamos would not only further science, but finally end the deadliest war in history — but at what cost?
As a World War II/ history buff, getting to expand on this part of Doc's backstory — and introduce Marty in a way I never have before — really all came together beautifully in this one. I've got elements of the movies, the comics, and the ride blended together in this work, and I'm really proud of how it turned out.
3. A Fracture in the Space-time Continuum
Learning Doc is stranded in the Old West, Marty makes a break for the clocktower — and gets his leg broken by an enraged Biff that escaped the manure truck at the River Road Tunnel. Marty did not plan on spending another six weeks in 1955.
I patiently waited for the perfect title for "Broken Leg Marty" to come to me because this one was special all-around, so its title had to be, too. Letting Marty and Doc believably have this time together during canon was a great "alternate ending" to Part II, and it still lets the events of Part III unfold without much interference.
4. There Are No Roads (Time Circuits #2.5)
Time Circuits Series #2.5 - When the DeLorean comes to a standstill in 1885, Doc is at a crossroads. All of his efforts to return to the life he knows unexpectedly drive him into the embrace of a young Hill Valley, but Marty and Emma need him now more than ever.
This was an unexpected story in my Time Circuits Series. It was meant to be a 10K filler for Doc's time in 1885 before Marty showed up, and there was apparently a lot more story to tell than I anticipated — in the best ways. I got to explore original ideas that fit snugly into canon. I fell in love with writing Buford Tannen in this story. This is personally the one I find myself rereading the most, and while I wrote the series to where people could skip this story if they chose to jump right from Part II to Part III, I hope they don't because it enhances Part III so much. And Buford is delightfully evil in it.
5. The Manner of Giving
Five times Marty tried to give Doc a gift - and one time he succeeded.
This one was born of a Tumblr Ask Box prompt and the only 5+1 fic I've ever written. You would not believe how hard it is to think up five ways to unsuccessfully give someone a gift, especially when you know Doc and Marty are likely on "oh, just bring it with you next time" terms. This one challenged me and turned out great!
And there you have it! My five personal favorite BttF fics that I've written! Five peeps I'm gonna tag if you guys wanna toot your own horn: @daryfromthefuture, @bri-to-the-future, @fiddlstyx, @knickynoo, and @jowritesfanfiction
