Hearing that makes Glen smile, leaning forward against the marble top as he hears how defensive his best friend gets with his girlfriend. “Okay that’s good. But does she know that?”

“What the fuck are you talking about, compá?”

“That you’re getting serious with her” Glen shrugs, interlocking his hands. “Because it’s been like what, almost six months you guys are fucking around-“

“We are not, fucking around” Miguel repeats through gritting teeth.

“Okay shit, sorry. Don’t kill me” Glen apologizes with a smile. “But has she ever, I don’t know—Asked you to go meet her family?”

Miguel thinks for a while before shrugging, playing with his food. “Not really… She never really talked about it so i assumed it’s a sensitive topic. She has a brother though.”

“Oh. Well okay” Glen answers with a sigh, earning a frown from Miguel as he stops chewing,

“What the hell is that?”

“The hell is what?!”

“That!” Miguel points, dropping his spoon. “Fuck, do i have something to worry about?!”

“What, no! Man—Christ! I didn’t peg you for an overthinker, O’Hara” Glen jokes, but Miguel doesn’t find it funny. “I’m just saying… If shit’s getting serious then you should probably ask her to go meet her family. If not then—“

“Fucking stop. I can’t and won’t hear what you’re about to say next.” Miguel stands up from his chair, grabbing the bowl before dumping it on the sink. “I mean she—she knows that i’m serious with her… Right? She’s got to be… Or maybe is she not—“

“Woah okay hey” Glen immediately jumps to console Miguel after seeing the defeated look on his face and the crack of his voice. Not exactly fond of seeing the distress expression across Miguel’s face.

“She knows, man.. Of course she does” Glen says, “that girl’s crazy in love with you it’s almost sickening. so i doubt she’ll leave your ass”

“You think so?” Miguel’s eyes soften at the confirmation. “She told you that?”

Glen only smile, hiding something that his best friend doesn’t know and he likes to keep it that way.

“Nope. Just a simple observation” He lies. “She here?”

“Yeah. Sleeping upstairs” Miguel’s heart blooms at the thought of his pretty girlfriend tucked comfortably underneath the covers of his bed,

“Alright then why the fuck are you still here? Be a gentleman, wake her up and get her breakfast. It’s almost 9” Glen claps his shoulder before walking away, resuming his daily routine.

Miguel’s hand reaches out next to the stove, grabbing the brown paper bag filled with your favorite cinnamon roll and lemon loaf along with an iced coffee from the cafe. He couldn’t decide which one you prefer to eat for breakfast, so he bought two instead.

He goes back to his room, entering in silence only to find you already woken up. His eyes light up when his favorite smile look up to him. The cause of his heart beat to quicken, knees to buckle and ruby irises to dilate,

He doesn’t think he’ll get tired of it,

“I was wondering where my big boy has gone” You stretch out your arms, kicking the covers off.

Miguel walks towards the bed, cheeks warming at the nickname. “Was craving cereal for breakfast so i went down to get some. I didn’t wanna wake you”

He takes a seat at the edge of the bed as you prop yourself up to sit up straight, the collar of his shirt you’re wearing falls down to one of your shoulder. Exposing your soft skin, littering with marks of his teeth from last night,

“So sweet of you, baby” You move to sit on your knees and move forward to kiss his lips. “What’s that?”

“Oh, this?” He moves the bag to your lap and set the iced coffee next to your bed. “Your breakfast. I got your favorites.”

Your eyes soften at his gesture, jutting your bottom lip forward. “Are you saying, you ate a cereal but you bought me bakery goods? Why would you do that?”

“You’re my girl” He responds as if it’s the most obvious thing. “I’m supposed to take care of you, mi amor.”

Your heart soars when he gives you his lovesick smile as his head tilts a bit to the side. “I love you, you know that? But i would’ve been just fine with cereal.” Your hands wrapped around his neck as he keeps a steady grip on your hips, drawing you close,

“Ay, cariño. I’ve lost count on the amount of times you’ve eaten that ever since you start sleeping over here” He chuckles, moving your hair to the back. “You need some better food in your system”

“Awe. I love how you’re taking care of me” You coo, giggling at your boyfriend lovely gesture.

He eyes you for a moment. From the crease of your brows, to your cute nose, and down to your soft full lips that he adores.

Gorgeous doesn’t even begin to describe you.

“What’s on your mind, Miggy?” You wonder, fingers move to lose themselves under his chocolate hair. “Hm?”

“Just thinking”

“About?”

“About when i get to meet your family” He blurts, causing your movement to stop. He panics for a little.

“I mean y-you don’t have to, wait—i mean we don’t have to” He nervously laughs, not wanting to make you uncomfortable. “I know we never actually talked about it. Which is why i won’t pressure you. But i would like to meet them someday… I want them to know that i’m not just some guy and that i’m taking good care of you and all”

You watch how he rambles. Feeling flustered at the choice of his words, especially the last one. He doesn’t want to come off cocky or anything but he can’t deny the fact that he’s the only man who has been treating you like a princess and he doesn’t even have to ask you for the truth.

A grin spreads across your features, letting out a giggle at how cute he’s acting. “You are, baby. You’re meeting my family”

His eyes widens. “Wait, i am?”

“Yes” You nod, pecking his nose. “I’m taking you to dinner with my family for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I already told them. It was supposed to be a surprise for you, though”

“Holy shit. Really?” Again, you nod which makes him smile even bigger. “This is the best news ever! I can’t wait to win them over!”

This woman was trying to kill you. The tinge of cinnamon fresh on your tongue, you couldn't fathom the consequence of taking on another pastry when you've only sampled the first. Your stomach being empty was the last of your concerns with how big it was. Your free hand lie flat on the table and even it was off by a few inches. She claimed to have made this batch smaller so you could finish the full dozen before you left which you found quite impossible. Prying the fork from your teeth, you let the woman down as best you could - praying to be let off with the rest to take home.

"No thank you, Mrs. Cinnabar - I haven't finished the first."

Her jovial demeanor is not lost as she takes the utensil off your hands. "You can drop the formalities, Love. We're all friends here. You'll have to forgive me for everything else. Izzy worked so hard on his part and I would hate for it to melt before you become addicted to us both."

The smell hits you before you take the bite she offers. No matter the date in time, she always smelled like a bakery. Mrs. Cinnabar has been your neighbor for about a year now following the disappearance of the last tenant not even a week before she and her partner moved in. A friendly face to all, she had taken a special liking to you when your paths finally crossed. Being next door neighbors was one reason, but she also told you she took an immediate interest to you similar to the instant attraction she felt towards her husband. He wasn't in the picture often, and so your company patched up the hole his absence left. With the combination of her loneliness and the rewards of free meals - who were you to say no when she asked for you to visit? Today's dessert was meant to be special and now you knew why.

Cheeks stuffed with pastry, the sweet bread takes up a new texture as you manage to scarf it all down. Rich, velvety cream with just a hint of vanilla; the cold, ceremonious blend to an otherwise warm and sticky treat. As the taste settles on your tongue, you could piece together traces of the ice cream mixed directly into the icing of the cinnamon roll - the delicate flavor you had trouble putting your finger on before. It certainly lived up to the hype set for it by the woman at your side. The scent of cinnamon is almost overpowering as Cinnabar sweeps her thumb up the corner of your sugar crusted lips; smile as sweet as the roll on your plate.

"Well, don't keep me waiting. You like it - don't you, Hun?"

"I-it's great... Wish I could give my compliments to your spouse."

Cinnabar peaks up in her seat; a chill running down your spine at the extend of her grin. For a brief moment she looks behind you. "Who said you couldn't?"

Leaning back in your seat, you come to find that the source of your chattering teeth is not her smile, but the hands of the man gripping the back of your chair. His glare is as icy as the frost radiating off him, your breath visible as you exhale in surprise. Stoic as a brick wall, his eyes show signs of satisfaction drifting over the missing forkful of the now frozen dessert. Ever so slow, he cleans the remaining crumbs off your face before joining his wife's side of the table. Perching an arm over her shoulder, he slides a metal ring into her breast pocket as she takes his hand.

"Y/n, Izzy. Izzy..." Cinnabar rests her head on his wrist. "knows all about you already. Nosy thing has listened in on all of our conversations before now and I'd say he adores your company as much I as I."

"but... I thought you said he was gone most of the day?"

"Oh, he is, Hun. Up in his study. Not too good at speaking with other humans. Specially cuties like yourself, isn't that right, Dear."

Izzy nods his head with a grunt - pale face just shy of a flush under the kitchen lighting.

"We both care about you so much, Hun. Watching you has opened so many doors for us so it's only fair we open ours to you. We've thought hard about how to introduce you to life with us, but the best start was showing you have well we work together. How good all of us could be for each other. I'll keep you warm in the winter, Izzy can cool you down in the summer. You...can just be you. We know this is a lot to take in now, but soon you'll see things our way."

Cinnabar retrieves a set of keys from her pocket, twirling the familiar ring round her finger. "We can talk more about this after you finish your dessert."

Poor cinnamon roll Tanjirou, despite being so young, he carries a heavy burden that few can truly understand and empathize with. It's heartbreaking to see the sadness in his gentle eyes, knowing the tragedies he's already experienced and will continue to face.

Thankfully, Boss Inosuke is there to look after his Underling #1! I love how he confidently declares himself as the boss, yet feels warm and fuzzy and blushes when he realizes that Tanjirou truly agrees with him. I adore digging into films and picking apart all of the layers and symbolism, so anything with some emotional weight is right up my alley! but I enjoy a bit of everything :)

I'm a photographer both as a job and as a hobby, and I work part time as a makeup artist as well! Kick-Ass. I didn't see it when it first came out, but I remember people praising it? It was a fun movie with some dark-humor take on super heroes. Admittedly we kinda just had it on in the background, but it had its moments and it was alright! 7.5/10

Started watching Mobile Suit Gundam: Witch from Mercury with my husband! Its cute, and Suletta is a fun character, but so far it feels different from the rest of the series. I personally enjoy it so far!

Fostered my love of The Most Dramatic Possible Writing at all times and doomed impossibly complicated relationships. Ilsa Faust/Ethan Hunt (Mission Impossible): I....just got into this one and...wow. How did I not see the potential of how cute it is before? They're mirrors of each other and foils, he's a testament to the past and she's what the future could be; he can hit her with a car and she can shoot him and it's still perfectly understood between them as something that doesn't even require forgiving? And she pegs him. That said, I didn't care about M:I enough to ship anyone in it before this year, but ever since TGM and all that ensued....

Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw/Pete "Maverick" Mitchell: heh. may/december misunderstandings hatesex size difference go brrr. Seriously, though...what an enjoyable ship. All the tropes can be packed in so neatly. (Honestly, anything with Mav is good for me. But this might be the spiciest.) First Ship: I'm sorry to say I laughed out loud in a cafe when I remembered, finally. I was twelve. It might explain a lot of what's wrong with me. But...the scene in Skyfall with...Bond...and Raoul Silva...why couldn't I have been a normal child and shipped NaruSasu or something. Happy to say I at least stayed off the E fics for a few years. Last Movie: The Menu (2022). Whew. Another fine addition to the 'good for her' cinematic universe. Last Song: Fake Empire - The National. I don't know why I keep it on my playlist because it reminds me of This Is Going To Hurt (TV) and Shruti and I cry/tear up every single time. If you know the scene...you know. Currently Reading: Thief of Time - Terry Pratchett. I am a huge fan of Discworld as my pleasure reading, and I'm on a mission to collect all of the really pretty hardback editions right now. Susan Sto Helit was my hero as a young teenager and I used to imagine having a teacher like her. Who doesn't want a teacher who could reality-warp a classroom? Currently Watching: Rewatching Giri/Haji (TV). Sue me. It's incredible. Maybe the best bilingual series I've ever seen, perhaps one of the few times I haven't had a single problem with the character writing of any female character included (except for an unnecessary death I'm still sour about). Anyways. It's a magnificent watch with what I believe is a once-in-a-lifetime kind of story. Currently Consuming: apple and pecan vegan cinnamon roll! and an oat latte. I love baths, I don't generally do bubbles or bombs, it is just for the pure indulgence of the sinking into the hot water and easing my body. If I do anything, it's epsom salts (unscented).

I don't have any shame in anything I have done recently, but for lack of drama's sake, I am hoping most do not find out about my co-worker and I hooking up

Hmm.. This used to always be pizza, but I have not really craved it much lately. I haven't had a lot of interest in food lately, but ribs or cinnamon rolls would definitely be up there for favourites

73. Do you sleep with stuffed animals?

I do!! I have had my Teddy for almost 20 years... I had my childhood stuffie lost to me due to an ex, so my grandmother bought me Teddy to replace Harvey (I was also going through some really heavy depression and other shit at the time). Teddy has held up really well, between sleep wear, travel and being washed. I do not sleep with him when I have a partner to sleep with regularly though.

49. Is there anyone you want to punch in the face right now?

I've never been one for punching really.. I usually find a way to vent that level of frustration/anger in other ways, because I'm highly opposed to jail or losing my job and I have self-control

113. What was your childhood nickname?

I didn't have one, my mother was very protective of others calling me anything but my full first name, and I never liked my name so didn't tolerate other kids calling me nicknames either (before there was serious consequences to violence... )..

Absolutely, my white Chuck's are still very white lol (but they also only get worn occasionally and when it's nice out)

I am generally a happy person, I love the little things and simplicity. It really doesn't take much to make/keep me happy.

To just eat? Dark, for sure. Each chocolate has it's place in baking creations though.

There's a sneer on Eren's face as green eyes behind Versace aviators glide over your form, staring you up and down. His gaze is so penetrative, it makes your teeth chatter. Maybe he was just checking you out. Maybe he was scrutinizing every blemish.

You suddenly feel so very small in your tennis skirt, the tight collared shirt stretching over your breasts, and wished that today out of all days wasn't when you decided to dress a little more stylish.

"Fancy seeing you here." His voice is nonchalant but there's a tone of humor that accompanies his brisk words. How long would it be until he laughs at you?

He scowls, "Are you mute or something? Why aren't you greeting me back properly?"

"Eren," You took a deep breath, "What are you doing in Paris?"

It occurs to you that you've never seen him out of his uniform before. He's wearing a light blue button-down, half the buttons left unfastened, polo shorts, an expensive black watch glittering on his wrist, silver rings on his slender fingers, and a thin silver chain dangling around his neck.

He's also acquired a new piercing, industrial, judging by the bar across his ear. The silver glints harshly under the sun.

"Are you done burning holes through me?"

You blush, embarrassment coloring your cheeks: "No, I'm just surprised." You tucked a loose lock of hair behind your ear, "Didn't expect to run into anyone I knew in another country."

You were just taking a pleasant walk in the acclaimed Champs-Élysées, the avenue every bit as a picture-perfect postcard as it had been described.

"Have you eaten?" The question is spoken with a sigh like he couldn't believe he was asking you this, and you couldn't either.

"Oh, um, no?" You responded, bewildered.

He runs a hand through his dark hair, which reached the nape of his neck by now: "I know a cafe around here. Let's get brunch. We'll talk there."

You don't know what possessed you to nod but you did so, trying to match his quick and long strides. The walk was silent, presumably because the two of you were saving your burning questions for the cafe.

He rolls his eyes when you stutter through your French. He raises a hand, and simply tells the waiter his order and dismisses him. His French is flawless and you're tempted to ask him how it's so good, but you already know the answer. Probably had hordes of tutors to help him.

Merci Monsieur

"Wait," You remark to Eren, "I didn't order."

"I ordered for us. Pain au chocolate, savory crepes, eggs, and ham. Coffee after. For me. Hot chocolate for you because you don't drink coffee."

Oh. That actually sounds good. How did he know your beverage preferences?

He fishes out a cigarette from his pocket, skinny and hand-rolled, "So what are you doing here? No offense but you don't exactly seem like you can afford a vacation to France. "

Now is your turn to sigh. You've nearly forgotten how blunt he could be: "Here on an internship. For art" You supply.

"I assume you just regularly come to Paris every summer?"

He doesn't deny or verify your statement, "Something like that."

"So you're staying at a hostel or?" He asks, exhaling a thick cloud of smoke that makes your nose wrinkle.

The waiter comes by with food, and you turn to Eren with a sour look, "I sincerely hope you're not going to smoke while we're eating."

To your utter surprise, he ashes the cigarette. You were expecting a witty and mean retort at the very minimum, not silent compliance.

You pick up the earlier conversation, "Well, I'm actually staying with my boyfriend." You mummer the last word quietly but the viridian-eyed boy's ears are keen. You don't notice how his grip on the knife tightens.

"You're staying with your boyfriend?" He repeats.

You nod, "Yeah, he's an art student too."

The rest of the meal is completed in sparing small-talk and lengths of silence. But it's not awkward. It's weird. On one hand, having brunch with Eren Yeager in fucking Paris, heir to a billionaire pharmaceutical company should feel surreal, but it's strangely peaceful. You feel more at peace sitting across from him in France than you did when he sat next to you in homeroom.

When it's time to pay the check, Eren looks amused by the very notion of you digging into your purse.

"What kind of gentleman would I be if I let the lady pay?" His words are spoken with a teasing smile.

You roll your eyes but can't help a glimmer of a smile from peeking through on your lips, "Didn't take you much for a gentleman."

He tosses his black card on the bill, "You'd be surprised."

What's there left to do now? Is it time to part ways? There's a part of you that craves more but life has taught you to not be greedy when you already have so so much.

You dabble the corner of your lips with a napkin, "Well, this has been fun-"

"Wait, uh, do you wanna check out the Louvre? Since you're an art student and all, you might uh enjoy it."

You stare at him. Is he tongue-tied?

"You've probably there been a million times already."

"Yeah...but you haven't been, right?"

You blink before breaking into a smile that Eren is sure is going to give him heart palpations, so sunny and bright.

"I would love to!"

You guys check out Mona Lisa for the sheer novelty, and you're bouncing around the museum, oohing and ahhing at the chiseled statues and Renaissance paintings. There is so much history here, it blows your mind.

Eren finds himself watching you more than the paintings. You have this veneer of snark that you wrap around yourself like a protective gauze (maybe that's how you maintain your survival in a world of hyenas) but you're different now.

You're yourself. Watching you here come alive in unbridled enthusiasm, eyes widened in passion, makes him reach out to his pocket and fish for his disposable film camera. He doesn't know if he's ever seen anyone in his vapid life look like the way you do, so filled with a zest for things that are greater than themselves.

He wants to burn you into his memory, praying to all the gods that you won't notice when he takes a picture of you admiring a bust of a goddess. He slyly tucks his camera back into his pocket.

The world seems to stand still when you tug his hand to show him a painting, an expression of unadulterated wonder on your face. But when you realize you pulled his hand, you immediately drop it like hot coals.

Why do you look so worried? Why do you look so scared?

"You can hold my hand if you want. It's-it's okay." He can't believe he's gotten the words out.

You're taking too long, your hands still hanging limply by your side, an indiscernible expression on your pretty face. Eren doesn't understand why it makes him so mad, why your sudden hesitation grated his nerves. Deciding to make your choice for you, he grabs your hand, squeezing your palm as he flashes you the charismatic smile that's got him out of countless incidents.

He doesn't like the expression of worry marring your features. Where did the happy jovial girl go? Just a few seconds, you were poking him with sparkles in your eyes, "Look at this Eren!" and "So beautiful, right?"

He forces another smile: "Show me the painting you wanted me to see." Maybe it was meant to be a request but it comes out as a demand.

You cast a glance at your joined hands, his grip borderline painful. "O-okay."

You lead him across the floor, and Eren can feel the stares of people around him. They are smiling. An older woman utters a "Un si charmant couple."

You take him to a grand painting. It's haunting and dark, swirling with so many shades of dusty red from vermillion to scarlet. A pregnant woman lies reclined, arm hanging and head lolling. She appears to be asleep, and there is a cacophony of men around her portrayed in varying degrees of stress.

"Death of a virgin", you breathed.

Such a macabre name, Eren thought as he gazed longer into the painting. He loosens his grip on your hand, testing whether you would pull away.

You don't.

It's raining outside and you're giggling.

"Fuck" Eren swears, "I'll call a cab."

You're a vision drenched in rain. Your clothes are soaked, and he could see the outline of your bra from your thin shirt. But it seems like you don't even care.

"Let's just enjoy it!" You cry out. There are thick droplets stuck in between your eyelashes, and you smell like rain too. It's dangerous, he can see chords of purple lightning flash the sky, thunder booming, and it's like you're dancing, the way you move so effortlessly.

You hook his hands in yours, "Doesn't this feel good?"

He feels like all his sins are being washed away, all the impurities and muck that clung onto him after nineteen years of existence. His heart nearly jumps out of his throat every time he looks at you.

He cups your chin and kisses you. When he feels the threadbare resistance, he kisses harsher, tongue and teeth swallowing your protests, coaxing your mouth open with a skillful pinch to your nipple. He pulls away just before you feel like all your breath has been robbed.

You're stunned speechless, "Eren...I...h-have a boyf-"

He kisses you again. And this time you kiss back, holding nothing back.

Why I like Silver, huh? Where to start...

I've always thought he was neat ever since I knew he existed, but he didn't become my favorite until around 2015-2016 (and has been since!). I like him for several reasons.

-Personality He totally gives off cinnamon roll vibes, but without being the "uwu I so babey" type of character. He genuinely cares about his friends and about saving/protecting the future and will stop at nothing to do whatever he can to help. He's also a very kind character that doesn't really like hurting people, but also not opposed to destroying you in a fight if you're doing something that warrants it; there's a limit to his patience and how much he will put up with. lol

And while he's very serious about his beliefs, he's not afraid to admit being wrong, which you gotta admit takes guts, since people in general don't like admitting that they're wrong about things. At the same time, he's not overly serious and will sometimes goof off in a way if the situation isn't too serious, similarly to how Sonic will troll his opponents.

Not to mention, he seems to just genuinely enjoy hanging out with the cast and having fun with them anyway, which is likely why he shows up for fun events outside of the main series (i.e. the Mario and Sonic Olympic titles and Team Sonic Racing); but with being alone most of his life, he probably just really craves the companionship of having friends in general, too.

It's kinda cute how it seems like he'll kinda copy some of the other characters, too (I guess is how to put it?), which is most evident in the Olympic titles' victory animations. For example, how he'll adopt more of an aggressive stance when paired up with Shadow as opposed to his usual more playful style.

But overall, I just really like his dynamics with other characters. Also, it's pretty adorable how excited he gets over little things like a garden. But it's understandable why, considering what his future looks like. As he's said before, there's nothing like that in his time.

-Gameplay Not gonna lie, I haven't played a game he's in yet where I haven't found his playstyle fun. LOL Yep, even the more puzzle-oriented stages in '06. I can see why he'd be an annoying opponent, especially in '06 and Rivals (ngl, I find Knuckles as an opponent in the latter more annoying, but I won't get into that for now), but when you're playing as him? Super fun! I'd love to see him playable in a main series title again.

And then just in general, he's got a cool design, plus psychokinesis is a freaking cool ability anyway!

That's about all I can think of off the top of my head, but yeah! Silver best boy. :)

Okay, so we've heard the worst... what about the best (assuming you haven't stated this earlier and I've somehow overlooked it)? That food from each race which you could gladly imagine savoring for the rest of your life and never tire of it, your unquestioned favorite that you consider the most iconic example of each culture's style of cuisine.

I've written a list of my favourites before here, but I've got so many favourite foods that one list just simply is not enough. Here we go again! ~Talviel

Bosmer

Most people find wood elf cuisine to be rather bland, but for me there are a few standouts and traditional comfort food is one of them. My guilty pleasure is a good, old fashioned Valenwood-style stuffed meat roll, or "Y'ffre's roll". It's usually whatever the meat of the day is (often poultry or venison), which is then stuffed with cheese, wrapped in ham or bacon, and rolled in a buttery hoarvoar-carapace crust. Oh, it's also deep-fried in lard, and is normally about the size of a large skeever. Ingesting more than one of these annually is not recommended, especially for non-Bosmer.

Altmer

I'm going to get boxed for this back home in Skyrim, but I admit it. The Altmer are truly the pastry masters of Tamriel. My recent favourite has been an absolutely to-die-for sponge cake from Shimmerene. It's a wonderful tiered slice of soft sponge soaked in cherry blossom liqueur, delicate pistachio cream and fresh strawberries, and topped with a fresh, pitted lychee. I would swim all the way back to Summerset for another slice if I could.

Redguard

Could I ever get sick of Redguard cooking? No. My current obsession is braised goat-and-camel stew. I thought the camel thing was a little weird at the beginning too, but the meat is pulled to tender perfection, along with hearty boneless chunks of flame-roasted goat. It's served in a hot, garlic-based curry with okra, harissa and cumin, and is the perfect blend of fragrant and spicy. It's usually served with chickpea flatbread or couscous on the side, and is best washed down with a cold goat-milk lassi (or several).

Nord

Even though it's summer, I've been craving one of my favourite Nord winter dishes. I'm sorry to disappoint if you're expecting something fancy, but a big bowl of creamy rice porridge with a good dollop of butter, cinnamon, and sugar is one of the most satisfying foods on Nirn (doubly so if you have snowberry preserves). I'm not biased, you're biased!

Khajiit

Since I first went to Elsweyr, the people around me tend to comment that I eat a lot of pilau. It's not because it's the only food I like or anything, but just because it's so good. Pilau is a deliciously fluffy basmati rice dish, which is cooked with saffron, butter, moon sugar, and nuts. It's usually a side dish for the Khajiit, and while I'm happy to eat mine plain, it's customary to have with both meat and vegetable dishes.

Argonian

There are precisely two races on Nirn who consider frog to be a food: the Bretons and the Argonians. Why the other races don't want to join in is beyond me, because by Dibella's sweet milky melons, I think frog legs are delicious. In Black Marsh there are a few different ways of cooking them, my absolute favourite is stir-fried frog legs with swamp ginger, oyster sauce, fiery marsh peppercorns, and loads of garlic and onions. They're meant to be eaten with your hands in a group, with everyone sitting around a large bowl. The gravy at the bottom is served with hot steamed barley, and I absolutely recommend Argonian garlic frog legs to all non-picky eaters who aren't afraid of flavour!

Orc

Orcish cuisine is another of those off-putting areas even for Tamrielic food aficionados, but those who know where to look will find some true gems. While I'm not normally a fan of horker or chub loon, I have developed quite an appetite for Old Orsinium-style barbecue skewers. I don't even know what goes into most of these mystery skewers, but I've had stronghold chefs and Hearth-wives tell me that depending on what's available, any game is game from echatere to venison, horse and even wild mammoth. Meat chunks are stacked with peppers, turnips, potatoes, and other root vegetables. The entire skewer is basted with a secret frost mirriam-based barbecue sauce, which varies between clans and regions. The trick to getting these meat skewers so delicious lies in the sheer heat of the roasting fire, which is in this case actually in the forge!  Barbecue skewers are usually a staple when Hunt-, Forge-, and Hearthwives have a good relationship with each other and work together, and it's said that a stronghold with a good meat skewer is one that's ruled well.

Breton

I've been dreaming about the lovely pine-nut, cheese, and spinach giant tortelli from High Rock lately, and for good reason. Take your average tortellini, made with a fresh egg dough, and make it about the size of a palm. Stuff it with a fragrant blend of pine nuts, ricotta and pecorino cheeses, seasoned minced spinach, and serve with a rich browned butter sauce and more pine nuts. A timeless classic that's both simple yet satisfying.

Dunmer

It may be the influence of my friend @lisandrelovesyams , but I went from being rather skeptical to rather fanatical about ash yams. I have quite a fondness for the Grey Quarter staple: jacket ash yams. The biggest ash yams are baked to perfection, and filled with whatever the day's produce is. A typical jacket yam comes stuffed with stewed bantam guar or smoked seafood (usually salmon or crab), Eidar cheese, spicy saltrice mash, and if you're lucky, a good dollop of scuttle on top. It's a Skyrim-inspired take on Dunmeri cuisine and is an absolute delight on a cold day, washed down with a mug of shein.

Imperial

Ah, my beloved Cyrodiilic fare. Now that summer is here, I am very much enjoying cooking with all the lovely fresh vegetables currently in season! One of my absolute favourite dishes is a classic risotto with mushrooms, sundried tomatoes, rocket, and a good measure of Surilie Brothers pinot grigio. Top it with a good amount of cave-aged West Weald parmesan and crispy pancetta, and you have an instant winner that even vegetable-haters will love!
