Fun fact, I used to hate Jaya. I thought it was really forced in the canon, and Jay's really obsessive behavior that is the catalyst for all of the events in Skybound always really bothered me? But tumblr has completely turned me around on this ship. They have their moments in canon, but in fanon they're really wonderful. thanks tumblr <3

these two...... 🥺they are really good i will admit. I'm a big fan of glaciershipping myself and I tend to prefer it over pixane, but these two are so lovely to each other and i totally see the appeal. I just wish pixal wasn't so sidelined in the canon fr what were they doing with her character??? let her be around more often let her and zane be sweet together. please smh

SKYLOR ALSO HAS NOTHING TO DO MOST OF THE TIME-- honestly this show sidelines like all of its female characters so hard. but these two are great toooo theyre sweeeet 😊 i just wish skylor was used for more than cameos. i like that she's the only one that can consistently shake kai's ego it's a great dynamic

lloyd and akita!! i'm gonna be so real with you guys i forget about akita so often ;v; which is a shame... i give her the award for most sidelined female character because she existed for half a season. but she and lloyd are sweet! I don't tend to ship lloyd with anyone personally, but i do love that they meet under the circumstances of "lloyd is in a world where his name and status mean nothing so he has no pressure to perform". it's a fantastic break for him. holy shit he deserves it

im gonna be so honest with all of you um. i actually. havent seen MotM yet. i was in the middle of my rewatch, and i got up to the point i stopped, right before MotM, and then Netflix changed their watch policies. and then of course i got busy

but from what i've seen of these two in fanon they seem alright! I usually prefer them in other wlw or mlm ships because of ONE ninjago vine compliation thing i saw with the two of them as this one tiktok and i've never been able to think of them as a couple since then. But they seem like they have a lovely friendship, whether that ends up turning to romance or not!

urggg once again I have thoughts to dump on you. You don't have agree or anything but I think I have a point maybe.

remember when I brought up how HMS probably incorporate dark side functions as well?

welllll I've adopted a new belief/headcanon/whatever

I don't think *any* of those functions perfectly map onto any of the jashlings, rather they individually listened to whole's "dark sides" and that's what split them (further) apart. they detracted their own interpretations of what the shadows taught them and in a way killed them, either actively taking on their functions or passively absorbing their beliefs.

Thomas refers to Roman, Patton, Logan and Virgil as being core sides rather than light, so I guess the same applies to HMS being core to Whole, explaining why they get referred to as being the only parts that make him up in the Soul eclectic + plus other songs probably I can't remember.

TDLR: I'm deciding to go with the take that HMS are mouthpieces for any other sides of Whole that might exist, meaning they kind of pick and choose any shadowed of him to overlap with rather than fully embody. Or rather, they broke down any side which didn't map onto their black and white view of the world into pieces and plucked up those pieces to use for their own self-gain. Soul is the only survivor of this as he had the most connection to Whole's personality.

Idk I find it more interesting. Also I do think whilst the orange side may not be bias on it's own, he'll probably cause Logan to be biased towards whatever he represents. (I think Logan might already be affected by bias as his own side in some way since it's really hard not to be. We'll have to see.) So I'm still crafting my own understanding based my personal prediction. Also orange side will probably have a demonic(or angelic) theme imo so do with that what you will. If he does it'd be cool.

I think if Whole had a show like c!Thomas Heart and Mind would take their animosity out on each other, bewildering any other side which dare show up. They'd be like "oh hi x! nice to have somebody other than this bitch to talk to". And then they start pulling each other's hair. They hate each other too much to acknowledge any "outside" input smh. Try acting like a Disney villain towards people who don't give a damn and see how far it gets you. It'd be funny to watch at least.

it was that time of the day . all of the other demons were telling each other daytime stories , mostly silly light – hearted rumors about the others ( who knew demons liked to gossip lol ) . sunrise was approaching fast as the two upper moons chatted away in the infinity fortress , not at all caring about the time .

" all the other demons are saying he can tell someone's pronouns just by being in the same room as them ! "

daki answers , her and her friend sitting in a small comfortable room while enjoying a small snack ; someone's left arm .

I’m wearing a pair of those fuzzy socks that people give as winter holiday gifts, because I’m mildly cold but too lazy to go get my cardigan from across the room. They’re... like, a heather gray color? The fuzzy bits have different shades of gray to them.

The sans-pandemic version of me keeps my hair at collarbone-length. I’d wear a side parting and pin a strand of hair behind my ear on one side with a hair clip (normally something colorful but lowkey). It's crazy how Tumblr and fandom culture in general has made us forget and even turn against the idea that characters need to be flawed and stories need to have conflict or else they don't move, and then the stories cease to have almost any value at all.

Just a few years ago this type of character, for like of a better word, slander was unheard of. But something has changed and I don't want to call people entitled cause that doesn't feel right but it definitely feels that Adora having low emotional intelligence because's been raised in a heavily conditioned environment and is victim of trauma isn't downfall of She Ra as a story and acting like it is... annoying? Neither is Catra lashing out and spiraling downward. Neither is glimmer feeling unsupported in her grief. Because if they characters are already perfect, then they have nowhere to go and that character development that is so satisfying and sometimes even defines a story ceases to exist.

It feels like fandom as a whole has moved away from promoting things they love and creating things to having an all out battle of controversial opinions tagged as meta-analysis. And I miss when it was fics, art, moodboards, playlists, etc instead of discourse.

It's okay to not like things (like it would make me a giant hypocrite to say that I love every single aspect of the show) and it's okay to say you don't like them, but it's also important to keep in mind that if something is making you so miserable that it's all you talk about, you don't have to stay there. Fandom is not jail. You can leave any time. Take a hobby. Learn to knit or go on walk. I promise it's more rewarding than clogging up Catra's tag on Tumblr with reasons why she should be canceled. I promise you will be happier.

But yes catra and adora are relatable because they are flawed. Majorly flawed. And as a majorly flawed person, I feel seen. And I think their characters that have so much potential and I can't wait to see how they grow because that's what we've been waiting for.

Yugioh S3 Ep 31-32: Marik Takes a Shower

Ah, what time is it? It’s time for Yugi to finally duel Seto Kaiba, who has been waiting very impatiently to duel him for last 50 episodes. Basically since the beginning-middle of Season 2.

So, a side note, in my quest to try and make sure this blog remains legible and accessible for everyone (despite how often Tumblr tries to flag me for adult content), you’ll notice some changes--first off, certain characters have been given a texture to their text so it’s easier to tell apart if you are colorblind. From here on out, Kaiba is this chrome-y gradient color pattern, to match how cool he thinks he is.

Second off, I went and made all the photos a bit larger, which was completely pointless as tumblr hates text posts, and so although I told the blog to do high res photo’s only, that only applies to photo posts. Apparently all text post images are rounded down to a smooth 500 no matter what in this theme and I could change my theme but then I’d have to change a lot of things. I went in to the HTML/CSS editor and as far as I can tell there’s just nothing I can do.

Anyway, Kaiba immediately picks up on the fact that none of Yugi’s friends are here so he tries to play into Yugi’s insecurities. This is pointless, as Yugi is already insecure about basically everything anyway.

And so about the rest of this episode is just Kaiba and Yugi disagreeing with what the purpose of dueling cards is. Surprisingly, no one said “getting soooo much money from children” which is what the people who funded this show were thinking.

Really, truly, honestly, Kaiba’s past self beat Pharaoh once, straight up killed the original King of Games who had complete control of his vague magic at the time. But Pharaoh isn’t even going to fathom Kaiba beating Marik. Like...Kaiba could do it.

One of the weird parts of this show is that everyone but Yugi is bad at cards but they keep showing us proof that, no really, they’re great at cards, just not when Yugi is looking (especially Duke, omg).

But the tension of this duel hinges on this assumption that if Yugi loses, then Kaiba has to duel Marik and he’ll just flat out lose. But...would he? Kaiba actually did proper research on these cards while Yugi is just kind of winging it and is also two people.

And then Tea had the audacity to say this, within hearing range of everyone else.

(and also, Duke has faint horizontal line patterns now. He speaks with a slight plaid.)

But Tea, for reals?

WHEN!?

When has it NOT?

It was only for a brief second but you bet your ass I stopped the footage there and smh.

And then Kaiba decided to use the holograms for actual hologram things. But in the most embarrassing socially awkward Kaiba way possible.

I kind of love how this show draws generic white people. With just the weirdest eyes ever. It’s like somewhere between Ghibli and the original Sealab2020.

Since Roland decided to go and help Kaiba destroy the world, Tristan took over being the useless person in the room to shout orders at this genius child who absolutely does not need Tristan’s help.

Tristan isn’t exactly a tech guy so I guess he was just there to give Mokuba anxiety.

And then, a very cool thing happened.

Yes, that’s right. It’s a Marik Shower Scene.

Turn on that slow anime lo-fi music and glory at this sexy...sink faucet???

I feel like I just learned a lot about Marik. He’s surrounded by the forefront of technology, surrounded by So Many Purple Shampoo Bottles, but like...I don’t think he ever really caught on to the whole running water thing. This kind of infers that like...he’s been doing this sink routine in whatever bathroom is around for like all the years he’s been on the surface.

And like maybe.....maaaaybe he just needed to cool off. But there’s a big difference between spritzing your face and just shoving your entire head and all it’s anime hair into the sink. One is a spritz, and the other is a camp shower. 

Wow.

Y’all, I’m still thinking about that Spinoff I wish existed. I’m still thinking about “Marik’s Boat Time”, just about the every day life of Marik stumbling through basic chores. I just want to see Bandit Keith going into the communal restroom they had on that boat, attempting to shave in the mirror while Marik comes in and just dunks his entire face into the nearest sink.

Oh, and PS, Marik’s font is embossed now. He’s an embossed Comic Sans Papyrus font. The most offensive font choice I could think of. Seems like something a villain could really get into.

I don’t really go over the card games here but this sequence was a whole lot of Kaiba forgetting how Yugi’s deck works.

And PS, in this flashback, Seto Kaiba was watching them do this duel from just offscreen. He watched Joey have to exchange cards with Yugi and then I guess Seto just...forgot that Yugi has this card? Although Seto Kaiba made sure to use the duel disk system so he could spy and know what everyone’s deck is? 

Seto...

Anyway, from that flashback, Yugi remembers that Joey is a Big Boy and that he is Resilient and Not A Baby, and figures, he won’t die for reals. He’ll be good.

Whatever works for him.
