#I like Lily Luna but I also like the idea of them naming her Ruby after Hagrid

I hc that Harry and Ginny had four kids after teddy which were Twins named James Arthur and Sirius Frederick (bc Sirius Fred doesn't sound right but Fred probably would've thought Frederick was hilarious anyway), Albus being named Colin Neville instead, and Lily being Ruby Luna instead (nothing against Lily though)
And anyhow I have this so ingrained in my mind that I forget it's not Canon and anytime I hear something about "albus severus" I gotta take a second and process my disappointment in Harry before I continue on
Also people that don't think teddy was like a son to them and an older brother figure and had his own room that he spent half his time there and the other half with Andy are fake ass bitches

Okay, so there’s not a lot that’s good about Cursed Child, IMO, but one of them is Al’s discomfort/disdain for his name. I’ve seen a couple Trans Al AUs that got me thinking about it. Like, I think Al would have absorbed the importance of legacy naming, but it could happen a ton of different ways -
1. Al likes being called Al, so she looks for a similar name. She first thinks of Alice, but Neville’s daughter is Alice. Then she stumbles upon Alastar Moody during her research, and so names herself Alastrina or Alyssa or Aster.
2. Al wonders how Luna ended up being her younger sister’s middle name but Ron and Hermione weren’t honored at all (I actually headcanon that this is because Luna is Lily Luna’s godmother, while Hermione is James Sirius’ godmother and Molly Weasley or Fleur is Albus Severus’ godmother). So Al picks Hermione as a first name, or maybe Hermia (with the nickname Mia), and something like Ronia or Rhonwen or Rhonda for her middle name and when she announces the new name at a Weasley family gathering she ends up in a Granger-Weasley sandwich and even though Ron and Hermione are actually James Sirius’ godparents, they spoil her too.
3. Al figures out that Harry probably named all the children, so she goes to Ginny to see if she knows a good name after ruling out Molly since that’s her cousin’s name. Al and Ginny end up going to Molly and Arthur to look up names in the family tree. Ideas include Septima or Cedrella after Arthur’s parents Septimus and Cedrella (Cedrella could also honor Cedric Diggory), as well as Ignatia or Lucretia after Molly’s uncle and aunt Ignatius and Lucretia Prewett, or Billie after Bilius Weasley.
4. Or, the first person Al goes to when questioning if she’s trans is Professor McGonagall, being the (former?) Transfiguration professor. McGonagall gives Al the rundown and eventually helps Al establish herself as trans. In thanks, Al chooses the new name Minerva.
5. Or, Al, being the most like Harry out of the three siblings, the most isolated at Hogwarts, is the one Hagrid befriends the most, and so she names herself Ruby.
6. Or, Al’s favorite professor is Neville Longbottom, who one day tells her just why he hates that Harry picked Severus Snape of all people to name her after, and Al decides to spitefully rename herself Nellie or Neva after the real bravest man Harry knows, Neville Longbottom.
7. Teddy is Harry’s child named after Remus, okay, so Al chooses the forgotten good Blacks and names herself Dora Andromeda. Alternatively, Al learns the story of Regulus Arcturus Black and it resonates with her because she can relate to him so she names herself after him, something like Regina Arcadia Potter maybe.
8. Al decides to choose a name that asserts that she’s a confident and proud Slytherin, like Sally or Azalea in honor of Salazar Slytherin, or Emerald or Esmeralda or Silvia in reference to the house’s emerald green and silver colors.
9. Al decides just to use the Evans/Potter tradition of naming daughters after flowers and goes with something like Daisy or Violet or Iris or perhaps Fleur or Flora for her aunt.
10. Of course, perhaps Al decides not to have a legacy name, and decides to choose one she likes, one she can make her own.
P.S. - Scorpius is totally accepting and supportive and down for this because that’s his best friend, and also because he’s bi as fuck. Scorpius and Al end up being Slytherin’s male and female prefect for their year and end up being Head Boy and Head Girl together (much to Rose’s jealousy). They almsot single-handedly improve Slytherin’s reputation. And then they get married and Al is the most charitable Lady Malfoy ever in history, and Scorpius and Al are also the Lord and Lady Malfoy that improve the Malfoy family’s reputation drastically and they choose to carry on the Black tradition of naming kids after stars/constellations and the Evans tradition of naming daughters after flowers, rather than legacy names goddammit.

The Name Garden: Q&A Monday
Hello everyone, and welcome back to Q&A Monday! Sorry for the lack of Q&A’s the last couple of weeks - I hadn’t had internet due to moving house, then we found out we were too rural to have internet and needed to order in a satellite, followed by the death of my computer and the death of my partner’s computer! Most of these issues have resolved now, and I’ll be getting my new computer today. As always, I am also ill, and at this time am unfortunately going through quite a big flare. I’m hoping that I can queue posts for each day to make sure that content isn’t lacking, but please do understand if there’s a day or two of missing content!
Anyway, off that topic, and onto the new: How has everyone’s holidays and new year been? I hope you’re having a wonderful time! Here are the questions that I received anonymously over the holidays - let’s jump back into the baby names!
If you have a question that you’d like to see featured in next week’s Q&A, please submit it here.

Q: What do you think of the name Myla but spelt Milsa?

---
Q: Which is your favorite out of Fredericka, Augusta, Claudine, Henrietta and Wilhelmina? Do you think any of them are usable for a child?
