#poorly drawn mdzs #mdzs #wei wuxian #jiang cheng #The childhood flashback is one of my favourite scenes in MDZS and yes I am disapointing myself in how little I am covering it.#If it is any consolation...I'll be bringing JYL's piggyback scene into another comic later on.#There truly is something so specific and yet resonant in the way our bonds as children feel so deep.#But the world doesn't stay as small as it does when you are a kid. The problems you argue about get bigger and more serious.#You still hold so much love for this person despite how much you want to throw hands with them.#To have such a complicated history with someone and then fall apart...You always think you have time to heal the wound.#Why wouldn't you! You've never had anything but time with this person. A brother not in blood but in true and genuine bond.#And then the fucker dies! It's horrible and sudden and the last words you exchanged were cold and awful!#What do you do with those dead end feelings? What do you do but grieve bitterly and angrily?#There is no resolution for all the love you wanted back. There will never be an opportunity to bridge the gap between you.#Someone you loved died thinking you hated them. Because you thought you had more time.#If anyone dares say Jiang Cheng didn't love WWX I'll be the first to fire up the powerpoint presentation on why he absolutely does.

FARSCAPE | 1.06 Thank God It's Friday, Again.

#I love this exchange so much specifically because it tells us a lot about how the translator microbes work. I mean. I highly doubt that – at #least at this point – john has ever discussed woodies with Aeryn.#But I can quite easily imagine that he’s at one point looked at some alien thing shuddered and gone ‘ugh. Gives me the willies.’#And since aeryn’s translator microbes picked that up and returned it with woody we can kind of see how they work.#It’s taken willie – a colloquial term for penis – and substituted it with another colloquial term for penis – woody.#The problem is that these terms both have connotations that the microbes don’t pick up on #hence the incorrect substitution.#However they do seem to do okay with homophones #presumably based on context.#It’s like how back in like 2012 if you typed a word into google translate that didn’t translate well #it would give you it’s best guess #and then if you translated it back it would just have a completely different meaning. there’s something that’s just :) to me about the fact that when vex is in danger and percy shouts after her in tlovm, he still uses vex’ahlia even though it’s almost always a situation in which choosing the shorter and thus faster and easier to yell version would make more sense (this happens on several occasions). the very base conception of vex in percy’s brain is vex’ahlia. besotted and utterly in love fool behaviour. he’s so real for that.

The adventure is over. Gem has followed the map her missing parents left behind, found her long-lost sister, and returned home to the lighthouse, a little traumatized but having gotten everything that she and Pearl had set out to retrieve in the first place. The journey was hard, but it was worth it, and now Gem knows for certain what's become of her family and gets to bring what remains home. By all accounts, this should be the happy ending. The thing is this: just because she and Cleo have found each other doesn't mean they know what to do next. The thing is this: what happens after the adventure, when everyone has a moment to think, is a type of journey too. It's just one Gem cares far less to confront.

howdy, everyone! this is my work for @mcytrecursive! it’s based on “out to the galaxy steady as she goes” by @mcyt-hc-writing, as well as a gift for them!

it’s a story about the trope of finding your long-lost sister, and the messy realization that having been lost means you don’t know each other. it’s also about the end of the adventure when you have to either process or fail to process the trauma that adventure dragged up. it's about realizing that there's someone you feel like you should know, but you don't. it's about the scars your parents leave on you years later and the way you are or aren't them. and it's also in space! it is that also.

i hope everyone enjoys it! (and i think it stands alone, for those worried about trying to read it without the context of another longer fic... although you should go read out to the galaxy also!)
