I am a “mixed kid” right…… black and white. An ancestry DNA test revealed that more specifically I am almost 50/50 Nigerian and Scottish. I embrace BOTH of these cultures because they each make up almost half of me. There’s been a trend my entire life and I’m sure way before then that “mixed kids” aren’t black. Someone said something and it rubbed me the wrong way, so I make a jokey joke about it on Facebook (first mistake). Now, some of you have seen my face I LOOK BLACK! So a family friend, a yt woman with black kids was like “why not just identify as mixed”.

When I tell you it pissed me off so fucking bad because this isn’t the first run in I’ve had with her. My response I thought was respectful and put together. I’m gonna copy and paste what I said

“because my phenotype is black

I know I’m racially almost entirely Nigerian and Scottish……… but my phenotype is BLACK. My culture is black, I look black, when people see me they see black, and mt birth certificate says African American”

What prompted this rant is I don’t understand yt moms OBSESSION with making their kids label themselves mixed and only mixed seemingly as a means to erase their blackness. THEY ARE STILL BLACK. She was so devastated at the fact that her kids call themselves black that she wrote a whole sob story on Facebook about how her kids want to erase their YT side…… but her kids phenotype is also black they just look black. If you’re so devastated by your yt genes being “erased” go fuck a yt man and have yt babies. 🙄
