Movie/Game/Show: Danganronpa: Goodbye Despair Dynamic: Hajime Hinata/Reader Warnings: subtle(?) spoilers aside from the despair disease, once again i don’t write with plot :), and yes I DO know Nagito’s supposed to faint but no I didn’t write it in here Summary: Hajime can’t help but be worried as his friends’ personalities are flipped upside-down.  ~~~
“Hajime!” (Y/n) cheered, a smile lighting up at the sight of the boy, waving him over as he went towards his cottage, “It’s been a bit, huh?”
“We spoke this morning,” he awkwardly pointed out.
Giggling to herself, the girl’s hands flew up as if to shrug, “So we did! I can barely keep track anymore, we’ve been on this island awhile, ya know?”
“I know what you mean,” Hajime muttered, shaking his head, “What did you need though?”
“Oh, well,” fanning herself off with her hand, (Y/n) looked to the side, “I’ve been feeling a little hot all day. Kinda worried I’m getting sick,” she sighed, “It’d be awful if someone took advantage of me being sick to kill me.”
To be completely honest, Hajime wasn’t expecting that - usually, the girl before him was incredibly cheerful. Barely even said the word ‘kill’ unless they were in a trial, and even then, she was hesitant.
“No way,” he immediately refuted, “You won’t get murdered. Not now, not later. Nobody else will be killed.”
“You can’t really promise that,” she grumbled, rubbing at her temples, “Sorry, this headache is really biting me right now.”
Hajime waved off her apology, “Shouldn’t you be lying down then? I could get Mikan.”
“No, no!” she smiled weakly, shaking her head, “I don’t wanna bother her, besides, I’m already feeling better just talking to you!”
“I don’t think that’s how illness works, at all.”
“Maybe,” she all but sang, drawing out the ‘y’, tossing her head back slightly to look at the darkening sky, “But I can’t lie. You’re a good distraction, Hajime.”
“Thanks?”
“I just mean that you make me forget how much this all sucks,” she grinned, watching as the stars blinked above her, “You’re a good friend, Hajime. I don’t know where we’d all be without you. Maybe that’s your Ultimate, huh?”
“Ultimate Friend?” he didn’t want to laugh in the poor girl’s face, but even she should be able to admit it was ridiculous.
“It is kinda silly,” (Y/n) pouted, clasping her hands behind her back before lighting up once again, “Or the Ultimate Hope! Or maybe the Ultimate Detective? Or the Ultimate- “
“I think that’s good for now,” Hajime settled his hands on the girl’s shoulders, “It’s getting dark, I think we should head to our cottages.”
“Oh, alright!” (Y/n) bounced out of the boy’s grip before dashing towards her cottage, “See ya tomorrow, Hajime!”
~~
Waking up the next morning to Monokuma’s voice, (Y/n) pursed her lips at the uncomfortable dryness of her throat. And then the heat. Absolute sweltering temperatures with a headache to crack open her skull.
She stood from her bed, immediately going to the bathroom and cupping her hand under the running sink, hoping that drinking some water would ease her throat. It succeeded, temporarily.
Deciding that, sadly, no matter what she did it was hopeless - (Y/n) managed to put herself together before dragging her way down to the cafeteria. She just barely pressed towards the dining area before growing quickly irritated at the sound of loud wails that only seemed to get worse when she went inside. Akane was sobbing, breaking down into nothing before all her classmates.
Hajime had crossed arms as he watched the woman cry over poor Nekomaru, “Doesn’t something seem a little… off about her?”
“Like I give a shit. Who cares? Let the bitch cry.”
(Y/n)’s eyes widened at her own words, Hajime staring at her in shock before shaking his head and leaning closer to the girl, “Are you- are you feeling alright?”
“Fuck off, I don’t need your bug-eyes staring at me,” before she could stop herself, more insults were hurling out of her mouth - almost alarmingly fast.
Ibuki hummed thoughtfully, “You know, Hajime’s eyes always did look a little fly-ey.”
“I don’t have bug-eyes,” Hajime glared weakly at (Y/n), “Do you still feel sick?”
“Puhuhuhuhu!” interrupted any more conversation, Monokuma giggling loudly, “It seems some of your friends have caught the Despair Disease!”
Mikan jumped slightly, “Despair Disease?!” she walked to (Y/n) and Ibuki, placing a soft hand on their foreheads, “They’re awfully warm.”
“Whore,” (Y/n) spat as she knocked the nurse’s hand from her forehead.
“W-whore?!” Mikan jumped back, curling into herself, tears bubbling at her water line.
"Surprise! It's your next motive!" Monokuma exclaimed, clearly proud of his plan,  "Ibuki has the Gullible Disease, Akane has the Coward Disease, Nagito has the Liar Disease, and (Y/n) has the Morose Disease!"
Glancing over to where Nagito was avidly dismissing any possible feeling of illness, Hajime nodded slightly before looking back to the sulking, brooding girl beside him, “I guess that makes sense.”
With a final warning of the disease being contagious, Monokuma left and Mikan was quick to emphasis that the sick should be taken to the hospital.
“I don’t need to be looked after,” (Y/n) sneered, utterly horrified at the words her mouth was spewing without her consent, “Especially by Little Ms. Piggy.”
“If (Y/n) doesn’t need to be looked after than neither do I!” Ibuki shouted.
Hajime rolled his eyes, “Yeah, I know. Everyone, just follow me.”
“I hope this never ends!”
“Shut your mouth before I stitch it shut, hope boy.”
After everyone was settled into their own rooms, with their own caretaker, (Y/n) tried to keep her mouth shut as Mikan, Fuyuhiko, and Hajime stood around her room. Chiaki was still busy calming down Akane from a cry-fest over stepping on Hajime’s foot earlier in the day.
Hajime sat by (Y/n)’s bedside, eyes flickering from the girl to Mikan as the nurse checked her vitals, “If I knew you calling me the Ultimate Friend would lead to this, I wouldn’t have gone over,” he tried joking. Just to ease the tension of the room.
Once again, without fail, (Y/n)’s lips flew open before she could stop herself, “Ultimate Friend? More like Ultimately Useless, get me a fucking doctor. Not some whiny-bitch nurse and two cuckolds.”
Silence festered in the room, (Y/n) tossing herself back to try and fall asleep as fast as possible. No longer wishing to live with the consequences of her own actions.
“This’ll be a long-fucking-while, then,” Fuyuhiko huffed.
Placing her head in her hands, (Y/n) sighed, flinching slightly when she felt someone pull her hands away to uncover her face, Hajime doing his best to give the girl a comforting smile, “We’ll get over this, like we always do. Nobody else is dying, right? We said it ourselves.”
Nodding, (Y/n) did her best to keep her mouth shut to refrain from ruining the moment.
Nobody else would die.
Nobody…
“See?” Hajime looked up to the nurse, “Don’t you agree, Mikan?”

Ok I’ll spar you guys the million screenshots!
RAE IS MAKING A MINI STORY ON THIS! Cause just cause i was bored doesn’t mean you guys have to be ill post the picture of the summary at the end
TW: death stuff, this is Danganronpa simulation by the way
Chapter 1:
The motive was freedom, the first blackened, if they can get away, they’ll be able to walk away, into the outside world. Of course, all you got to do is kill and be free, easy right?
It didn’t take long for Coleman to go mad. Just kill one person and he can leave right? Sam was alone, he can went off the explore the area they were stuck in.
It was too easy. Too easy. All it took was one clean hit to the temple, and Sam was dead. He did it. He could leave now? Right?
A body has been discovered.
Clark screamed, seeing his brother dead on the ground. Makoto wrapped his arms around Clark tightly, he didn’t expect a murder so soon. Coleman just looked at them and laughed. He could le-
No one ever said anything about a trail. The trail...how could Coleman even defend himself? Clark and Makoto saw him over Sam’s body. It didn’t take long for the votes to be casted, as Coleman was dragged out of the room to his doomed faith.
Chapter 2:
The motive was revenge. There were a few people here who had bad blood against each other.
Liu’s eye flickered to Dorothy, that woman, costs him many things. His plan was simple, such a poor weak looking woman would not stand a chance against him.
His kill would be brutal, he wanted her to pay.
Late that night, Liu walked quietly up behind Dorothy, who was alone in the rec room. Her headphones blocked out any noises. Just as he raised the knife to kill, a body tackled him.
Shi Won Kim. The two wrestle for the knife. Dorothy took over her headphones and spun around alarm to see them fighting.
“DOROTHY!! RUN!” Was the last words like left Shi Won’s mouth when a knife was plunged through her heart.
Dorothy let out a heartbroken scream. Watching as Liu continued to stab at Won’s body. Even though Dorothy wasn’t his kill, this woman under him also screwed him over.
Dorothy darted out the room screaming still, her screams carrying down the hall to the others.
A body has been discovered
The trail was quick, Dorothy was still sobbing. It should have been her. It should have been her. Liu cursed Dorothy out as he was dragged away to his await punishment.
Chapter 3:
The motive was obsession. It was no surprise Ishigami had some admiration obsession with Akemi. It was no surprise Akemi had the obsession of keeping Makoto as her own. Despite knowing he was against her, Akemi still, chose to give Makoto her full attention.
Akemi spent whatever time she could with Makoto. Makoto would only go with her cause he knew she would not back down until he said yes.
Over the pass few days, they actually grew sort of close. Oz hated it. Seeing the way that woman laid her hands on his son. The way she called him son, telling him to call her mom. It hurt to see that Makoto did prefer Akemi over him.
Akemi could see the way Oz would look at them. She won’t have it. She won’t have this man take her son. Ishigami, would do anything for Akemi. Anything. She told him to prove his loyalty. Kill Oz.
Need say more? Ishigami followed Oz until he saw the perfect moment. The training room, Ishigami used a cord from the rec room, and choked Oz out. He watch in pleasure as Oz’s face turned blue. The last sight Ishigami saw was Oz’s body going limp, before a forced behind him broke his neck.
Two bodies have been discovered
The trail, Makoto couldn’t help but cry, he had regret. He didnt think Oz would be a victim of this game. Sure Makoto held a grudge against him, but seeing another parent dead, Oz actually being dead, it hurt. Akemi was in the hotbox. It wasn’t a secret she wanted Makoto to herself
Akemi admitted she did ask for Oz to be killed, but Ishigami she didn’t know.
Everyone stood conflicted, couldn’t they even trust this woman? She just admitted she asked for Oz to be killed. Abby sighed heavily and raised her arms up.
“It was me...”
Abby thought she could have saved Oz in time, she figured it was worth dying if she could save him. But she failed.
Makoto broke down more, not Abby.
Abby walked towards the three other members of Team Confidence. Laurent, Cynthia, and Makoto. The four of them shared a tight hug, the three of them holding Abby tightly and close. It didn’t take long for the tears to start pouring, from all four of them. Abby started to sobbed, hugging the three tighter
“Thank you....for making my life worth living..”
Abby walked willing to her execution, waving a sad goodbye to her family. (Hello I’m crying now )
Chapter 4:
The motive was lovers sickness. Being so close together for a long time sparks love between a few people.
Dorothy still heartbroken over Shi Won, Laurent dreaded over Abby’s execution. The two pervious lovers, started to lean on each other for comfort.
Clark tried his best to comfort Makoto. He hated seeing the man spending his days looking like a shell of a person.
Clark made it his mission to take care of Makoto. And to as far as starting to sleep in Makoto’s room at night. It didn’t take long, Clark..loved him. He loved Makoto. He loved him so so so so so much. His Makoto.
Over the pass few days, Makoto being to become himself again. He knew Abby and Oz would want him to keep fighting. He was going to survive for them.
Makoto went to go see how Laurent was holding up. During his time with Dorothy, Laurent learned the feeling he had for her were long gone. However, Dorothy had started falling for the Belgian man during their time together. Laurent smiled as Makoto walked up to him.
The two men hugged each other, both taking a deep breathe. Losing Abby hurt, but they will get out of this for her. Makoto melted into Laurent’s arms, as Laurent held him close. It wasn’t much, just a peck of the head. Laurent pressed his lips against Makoto’s forehead, feeling the small man melt even more into his arms
Clark felt his blood boil from a distance. How. Dare. He. Try. To. Take. His. Makoto?
That night, Laurent was heading to Dorothy’s room to talk to her about how he felt towards her. As he open the door he was me at by a horrible sight.
Dorothy’s body swung back and forth, strung up by her neck on the ceiling fan. Blood dripping from her mouth, the room was trashed like there was a struggle.
Laurent fell to his knees shaking. Not Dorothy too..
Clark busted out of the bathroom holding a bat.
Laurent and Dorothy hung side by side. Clark smiled at his work, leaving a note on the nightstand. Lovers suicide, surely everyone would believe it.
Two bodies have been discovered
Clark held Makoto during the trail. It was a suicide what are they suppose to do?
“Suicide?” Casano shook his head “its more like a homicide”
Salazar nodded in an agreement. The two men had been in a messy business long enough to know when someone was covering up a murder with a suicide. So they did have a killer. But who?
Clark couldn’t contain his laughter. Oh. He had fail. How...interesting.
“YOU COULDNT JUST LET IT HAPPEN HUH?!” Clark snapped at the two men.
Makoto’s eyes widen as he pulled himself away from Clark. “Clark-“
“What? Oh baby..” Clark smiled at him sweetly “don’t be so scared, I did it for you. For us! Don’t you get it?! Laurent was in the way of us! And I couldn’t risk his little girlfriend seeing me killing him! So I took care of her first!!”
Makoto stared into horror. This...wasn’t the Clark he knew.
Clark was dragged away to his punishment, he kept yelling for Makoto.
“Baby! I did it for you!! Please! Come on! Baby! ANSWER ME!!!”
Makoto ran to Cynthia’s arms for comfort. The redhead covered his ears to block out Clark’s yells.
Clark died with a sickness, but they never knew what that sickness was.
Chapter 5
There was no motive involve this time. Sometimes a killing really is an accident.
Cynthia and Yao were auguring by a flight of stairs. It was getting heated. Kudo overheard and went to investigate. He tried to make himself the medium. He knew he had to calm them down, cause to things got messy, Cynthia didn’t stand a chance against Yao.
The fighting got worst, as Yao got in her face, Cynthia scratched his face with her nails. The man screamed in pain and walked backwards holding his face. Before he was warned, he felt his foot fall.
The big man fell down the stairs. Now a fall down the stairs can’t kill you, unless you land on your neck just right. That was the case for Yao. The man laid at the bottom of the long flight, with a broken neck.
Cynthia started shaking. She killed him. She killed him. And now. Oh god. She’s next.
Kudo tried to calm her down. Maybe they Can reason, it was an accident! She didn’t mean too. Kudo grabbed her by her hands and lead her to the kitchen. Some tea would calm her down.
Two bodies had been discovered.
Makoto felt sick during the trail. They had found both Yao at the bottom of the stairs and Cynthia in the kitchen dead. Thomas was quiet the whole time, staring at the ground.
Just as they began the discussion, Kudo confessed.
“I’m sorry...”
Kudo explained, he knew Cynthia would have faced a horrible death. He knew she was scared. He knew there was no way around it. He wanted to lead her out of this world in peace. A poison of the tea, nothing painful. She fell sleepily and that was that. She went out in peace.
Makoto wanted to be angry, but at the same time...Kudo was taking Cynthia’s place in a horrible death.
Kudo smiled cheerily as he was lead out to his doom.
Chapter 6
It was a homestretch, the motive was given to one person, and it was self driven. It was looking they were going to make it out of here. Right?
Thomas couldn’t take it anymore. He couldn’t take it anymore. He couldn’t. He didn’t want to be alive anymore. He thought he could make it out of here, but after seeing Cynthia dead...something pushed him over the edge.
The next few days, Thomas begged someone to kill him. He wanted to die, he couldn’t go through with suicide, so he needed someone to kill him. Salazar tried to smack the man straight
“Would Cynthia want to see you like this.? She want you to live”
“Cynthia........please...just...I want to see her again”
Thomas’ wish was granted.
A body has been discovered
Thomas laid bleeding on the ground. His head was broken open, a bloody bat next to him.
The trail was tense. There was so little people.
Makoto looked around and scanned the faces. Everyone suspected everyone.
“I’m sorry....”
Makoto bowed “I just granted him his wish...does that really make me a horrible killer..?”
Akemi screamed, no no no no, not her son. Not him. Not him. Not him.
Salazar looked at the young man..disappointed.
Casano huffed and shook his head “a killer is a killer..but...I guess some killing can be just”
Makoto stood up “I....I’m sorry...I...” he looked up “just want to see everyone again...” a sad smile spread across his face. “When you guys get out of here...make sure a sick game like this never happens again..”
A motive was the chance to see everyone again...but there was a price.
Makoto slowly walked to his death. Akemi tried to run after him, but was held back by Salazar.
When Makoto took his last breath, a door the three had never seen opened.
It was over......but why did they be the ones to survive?
Why couldn’t...at least Makoto survived?

Postmortem- Chapter 11
Kokichi has an unexpected conversation with someone.
ao3
Ouma shot up from his bed in a cold sweat, reeling from the nightmare he had just experienced. Trying his best to steady his breathing, he ran his hands shakily through his hair after glancing at the clock.
5:37 am
He sighed, noticing how his throat felt particularly dry. Although he wasn’t a big fan of leaving his room, mostly out of dread of running into the others, it was pretty early and it was unlikely that he would run into anyone else. Swinging his legs over the side of it, he pushed himself off the bed and exited his room.
Closing the door gently behind him, he blinked his eyes to adjust them to the light of the hallway. There were no nurses in sight, but he figured there would be a few nearby, still on duty. As he rounded the corner of the hall the dining hall came into view, the light still shining brightly with the doors wide open. It made sense for the hallways to be lit, but the dining hall too? Who else would be in there at this hour?
Ouma considered turning around and going back to bed, but his curiosity got the better of him as he wondered who else had business with the dining hall at this hour.
When he entered, he saw a silhouette that could belong to none other than Momota, the former self-proclaimed luminary of the stars. Holding back a smirk, he repressed the urge to tease and taunt the other boy until he got aggravated and left. Momota hadn’t noticed Ouma’s presence yet, so the latter took it upon himself to make his presence known, opening a cabinet with enough force to make a sound.
“Ouma…?” Momota had turned to Ouma, his brows furrowed and a confused expression painted on his face.
“Hey.” Ouma’s voice was devoid of all emotion, his usually cheerful and sinister grin being replaced with a blank stare.
After filling a cup with water from the fridge he walked over to Momota, taking a seat right next to him.
“What is my dear Momota-chan doing here at this hour?” The corners of Ouma’s lips were twisted into a tight grimace, as if forcing himself to smile was painful.
“I could ask you the same question.” Momota replied, gazing forward instead of at Ouma.
It was silent for a moment before both boys turned towards each other, letting out a sigh in unison.
“I’m sorry.”
Bewildered expressions followed suit, both boys gawking at one another. Momota paused to clear his throat, encouraging Ouma to continue.
“I guess I could’ve been a little bit nicer to you when you came to visit me in the emergency room. Whatever. It’s not my fault you’re so easy to provoke.” Ouma spat, practically hating every word that came out of his mouth.
“Ugh, you little…! That’s not-” Momota cut himself, seeming to think through his next words rather carefully. Ouma might’ve insulted him, but at least he was trying to apologize, in his own, albeit strange, way. “Look. I was just worried about you and you gave me a really tough time. All I’m saying is that it wouldn’t kill you to be a little honest for once, okay?”
“Yeah, yeah. Tell me something I haven’t been told a million times before.” Ouma quipped, sipping from his water. “But what are you apologizing for?”
Momota’s gaze hardened as he spoke, “It’s my fault your whole plan failed. You left it to me to carry it out, and… I just couldn’t do it. I couldn’t let them vote wrong. I know how badly you wanted to defeat the mastermind, and I did too… hell, we all did. But I couldn’t carry through, and I’m sorry for that.”
Ouma’s mind went blank for a moment, him having been genuinely taken aback by Momota’s words. How could Momota be apologizing, when Ouma himself was the one to blame? It was his own fault for not planning accordingly, for not expecting Harukawa to storm the Exisal hangar, for relying too much on Momota… All of it was his fault.
“Whatever. Not like any of it was real anyway.” Ouma muttered.
“What you said was real though, wasn’t it?” Momota eyed Ouma cautiously, gauging his reaction. “About ending the killing game, about lying to yourself… Everything you said in the hangar was the truth.”
“So what if it was?” Ouma said curtly, “Like I said, it wasn’t real. It doesn’t matter anymore.”
“It does too matter!” Momota raised his voice, his words booming throughout the dining hall. “Because that’s part of who you are! The Ouma that I know would never enjoy something as horrible as that killing game! You can lie to me all you want, but that’s the truth!”
Ouma’s eyes were wide, staring into Momota’s fierce gaze. Suppressing the natural instinct to challenge said gaze, he looked away, clenching his fists in anger. God, he hated feeling so exposed. Who did Momota think he was?
“Sure. If that’s what you want to believe then go ahead.” Ouma said defeatedly.
Silence descended upon them once more, contrasting Momota’s previous outburst.
Momota broke the silence between them once more, “I’m also sorry for not noticing earlier.”
“Not noticing what?” Ouma cocked an eyebrow, curious as to what Momota was getting at.
Momota folded his hands together, interlocking his fingers, clenching and unclenching his fists.
“I should’ve noticed earlier that you were suffering. Bearing the weight of ending the killing game on your small shoulders… No one should have to go through that alone.” Momota admitted.
“Psh! Who do you think I am!” Ouma scoffed, “I’m not one of your wimpy little sidekicks! You don’t have to protect me!”
“Actually, I was thinking and…” Momota smirked, looping an arm around Ouma’s shoulders, pulling him closer, “How would you like to be my new sidekick?” He beamed with childlike excitement, looking for Ouma’s approval like an eager puppy.
“Ew, gross!” Ouma tried to worm his way out of Momota’s grasp, but he held on tight. “I’ll pass!
“Heh, you don’t have a choice!” Momota let go of Ouma, standing up and boldly declaring, “As of today, you, Kokichi Ouma, will be one of my new sidekicks!” Momota proceeded to cheer for himself and Ouma proudly, all while Ouma sulked.
“Ugh, you are so annoying…” Ouma sipped from his glass of water, using the glass to hide his faint smile.
“Get used to it!” Momota flashed him his signature grin and thumbs up.
Ouma hummed in thought, before abruptly changing the subject, hoping to get some of the attention off of himself. “Why are you even here anyway? It’s almost 6 o’clock in the morning!”
“Oh… About that…” Momota’s grin faded away, replaced by a more serious expression. “It’s nothing…”
“Oh, come on Momota-chan!” Ouma huffed, “If I can be honest then so can you!”
“Fine!” Momota took a moment to collect himself before continuing, “...I had a bad dream. No big deal. It’s nothing that the great Kaito Momota can’t handle!”
“Are you sure about that?” Ouma snickered. Maybe he could taunt Momota just a tiny bit, especially after they talked about their feelings.
“What is that supposed to mean? Of course I am!” Momota objected, “Wait… Is that why you were here too? Because you had a bad dream?”
Ouma fell silent, Momta’s line of questioning having struck uncomfortably close to the truth. Thankfully, their conversation was interrupted by a nurse entering the dining hall.
“Ah, there you two are!” She smiled warmly at the two, a gesture that came off as more superficial than anything. “I’ve gathered everyone else in the common room for a meeting, so please make your way there as soon as possible!”
“Huh? They aren’t sleeping?” Momota questioned.
“They’ve been woken up and brought to the common room by the other staff members. Everyone is waiting, so please hurry!” she replied, exiting the dining hall.
Ouma and Momota shared a worried look before complying, following the nurse to the common room.
~~~~~~~~~~
Sure enough, everyone was there, just as the nurse had said. Using the large crowd of people to his advantage, Ouma slipped away from Momota, not wanting to get dragged into a conversation with his other “sidekicks”. He made his way to the corner on the opposite side of the room, subtly shielding himself behind Amami.
“Is everyone here?” one of the staff members inquired, causing the various chatter of the room to subside. “Good. I’ll make this quick then, since I know you must all be tired.”
Ouma observed the others in the room, which seemed to verify the woman’s statement. Yumeno was clinging to Chabashira, rubbing her eyes wearily, while even the shining bright Akamatsu seemed sleepy, yawning not so discreetly.
“I’m sure you’re all getting sick of being cooped up in this hospital, no?” the woman asked.
A group of murmurs emerged from the group, agreeing with her statement.
“Well then, I have good news for you!” She turned to another staff member, prompting them to hand her a stack of papers, which she held up. “These are discharge forms that will allow you to be released from the hospital! I ask all of you to fill these out no later than next week with your preferred housing arrangements so that you can be discharged from this building!”
The group of participants shared a skeptical look, even those who did not particularly get along with one another.
“Now for the details!” The lady cleared her throat, preparing to list out the particular guidelines of this procedure. “The apartments will, of course, be separated by gender, so keep that in mind! All of your living expenses will be paid for by Team Danganronpa, but we encourage you to seek out jobs to get back into the swing of life! And finally, although you will no longer be residing here, it is still required of you to see a personal therapist to help you develop healthy coping mechanisms. Thank you for understanding! You can grab a form on the way out!” The woman concluded her list of rules and guidelines, making her way to the door to hand out forms.
Ouma wasn’t too surprised at this development. He had expected them to be kicked out of the hospital in a matter of time, just not so soon. Amidst his mild surprisement, he noticed Momota talked eagerly to Saihara, most likely discussing their plans to move in together. Before either of them could notice he was staring, Ouma slipped out of the room, grabbing a form and quickly heading to his room.
He placed the hospital discharge form on his nightstand, not even bothering to look at it. Making himself comfortable beneath the covers of his bed, he contemplated the inevitable: figuring out who he should room with.
Naturally, none of the other boys would want to live with him, making things just that difficult. He would likely get stuck with someone who wouldn’t want him, which would make him miserable. Honestly, there isn’t anyone that wouldn’t be a nightmare to live with.
Gokuhara and Shinguji were definitely not options, for obvious reasons. In the middle were Kiibo and Hoshi, who would probably be a bit awkward to live with but not unbearable. At the top of the list were Amami and, as much as he hated to admit it, Momota. Amami seemed pretty chill and would likely be able to deal with Ouma’s antics, and Momota seemed to have at least somewhat of an understanding about Ouma, knowing enough about him to leave him alone when necessary.
And finally, there was Saihara. Standing way above all the other boys, Ouma would be absolutely elated to live with Saihara. Though he wasn’t sure that the other boy felt the same, he at least knew that Saihara could tolerate him the best out of all of them. But it was a dream way too far out of his reach, as he had probably already decided to live with Momota.
Ouma rolled over in bed, trying to get comfortable. His current train of thought wasn’t exactly pleasant, so he decided to smother it by entering the world of sleep. Though the chances were high that he would have another nightmare, he was so tired of this debacle and generally exhausted that he let sleep claim him anyway, falling deeper and deeper into unconsciousness.
So... Did you hear about the new TWEWY game coming out yet?
Oooohhhh boy. Neo. I have heard about Neo, and I’m not happy.
Let me start by saying that Sho Minamimoto is my favorite character. I love him SO much. And every single reason for this lies in his villainy (no matter what a younger, more morality-obsessed me would try to tell you). This is a young rebel who decides he wants to fight God and rule over all dead people in this city. He asserts his dominance by chucking Dadaist trash piles all over the place and going “This is MINE because I put my TRASH here!” He’s an utter slimeball and that’s why he’s ENJOYABLE to me.
 I do not see any of this magic being recaptured so long as he has to play nice with the hero team.
 Maybe he won’t be redeemed. He could be the Token Evil Teammate – though that still wouldn’t allow him as much freedom and fun as his days of roping angels and the FORBIDDEN type of evil encounter monster into a grand conspiracy. Or he could be a Twist Villain, but let’s be real – modern media is never that obvious about who the twist bad guy is.
 (Except No Straight Roads, which understood that a predictable Twist Villain is an effective one. ILSYM NSR. But that studio is considerably smaller than Squenix and can do what it wants, like allowing its voice actors to say a queer ship the fans made is good. Oh, I long for the day when a Squenix developer will actually validate even ONE of our gay ships in FF or KH.)
 The other thing is that I only very recently just checked out A New Day’s scenes. Like, a week ago. Remember when I put up that edit of Coco Atarashi x Symonne from Tales of Zestiria? That’s the timeframe to mark. Listen. I grew up on old-school TWEWY on the DS. I never played any of the Remixes. So after seeing enough content of Coco on my dash, I was like “I should actually watch the epilogue that has this cool Reaper who pretends to be cute but isn’t” (an archetype I like a lot these days).
 The thing about A New Day is that we live in a post-KHIII world, which kinda affects how I view all of Squenix. A New Day felt like KHIII levels of complication. Not like the “KH is complicated” jokes of old in which it was just long and had lots of continuity so people were like “This is too much to keep track of” (which it wouldn’t have been if they’d packaged the Remix games on the same console from the start, but I digress). As in how in III and the prequel/Daybreak era, Nomura and his crew have started throwing in alternate realities and time travel because they keep getting bored with the plot they’re doing now and want to make it something else. You know what else KHIII did a lot of? Villain redemptions. Vexen, who is even dearer to me than Sho, became not only a hero, but a hero who lost all of his personality. Most fanfics I’ve seen that deal with his redemption at least keep him in character to who Vexen used to be. But canon decided he doesn’t even have a personality anymore, and so you wonder why I’m worried about Sho?
 Also to consider: the fact that KHIII insists on tying itself to TWEWY lore. I just want to forget the worst parts of that game, but canon won’t let me, the fandom won’t let me, and I’m SURE Neo won’t let me. Neo is going to remind me that Sora yeeted himself into the sun because one (1) of his friends was important than the entire collective of the other people who love him and it’s probably going to have to do with him running around somewhere.
 Or it won’t. After all, there’s no hint of that. There’s also no hint it’s going to resolve the cliffhanger from A New Day. Neku is nowhere to be found, even though Sho was supposed to be his partner. Coco is nowhere to be seen. Sho’s existence and the naming of Hype-Chan are the only proof I have that AND is going to be followed up on at all (BTW, “Tsugumi”? Nothing objectively wrong with it; I’m just so deep in the DanganRonpa hole that I will constantly say “Tsumugi” by accident). And maybe the other stuff’s hidden because the crew is guarding spoilers, but those are all plot threads we very clearly expected as of AND, so there’s nothing to spoil if you cut your footage right. It seems so backward to me that we have to design a whole new crew of characters to take over the story to finish a plot that involves Neku somehow. (Though Nomura is designing them and again, he gets bored with what he’s doing so quickly and wants to move onto the next thing, which means he should really just start making different series or oneshots instead of trying to pack it all into one. TWEWY was best when it was a standalone thing with no worry of series rot.)
 It also just feels unfair to me that it has this whole 3D battle system and OG TWEWY just got its 2D system in high-def. Maybe this is because a couple months ago, I was having a chat with a friend about “If you were a game developer, what would you do” and I came up with this whole way to translate the TWEWY UI into the stuff of a fully voice-acted and animated 3D game, and now Neo is halfway there, and obviously the OG could have been translated to this, but it hasn’t been, and you need to understand OG TWEWY in order to get Neo’s plot, so why can’t we streamline them both? REALLY remake OG TWEWY into something that matches its successor? I just love the story and characters of classic TWEWY, and I’d sooner see that all polished up on a new platform and made accessible to a new audience of gamers than just blowing on to a new cast and a plot that I’m really not sure will be good.
 But in the end, if Sho Minamimoto is fun, I’ll be happy, and I’m afraid he won’t be. I’m afraid he’ll either go full antihero or be diluted into “evil, but only in his words” by the ball-and-chain of the party around him. Oh, and did I mention I’m gonna be real mad when we eventually have to deal with how Sora fits into this?
 I do really, really love Sho’s new coat, though. Like…an insane amount. I might actually reblog fanart of him in that coat if people are drawing it because as much as I am not excited for this game, the costume design is already gorgeous.
Can you tell me a bit about ur dangan oc’s? They all seem very interesting and it would be cool to learn more about them! I like Haruto he’s so cute
Sure thing! And thank you!(and yeah Haruto is best boy)
I’m putting this under a cut because this is very long. (I mean I’m giving an infodump about my OCs, of course it’s long. XD)
Please send me more asks if you want to!
Let’s start with the Despair From the Heart cast. (my HC for Danganronpa 52)
Kokoro (Ultimate Lucky Student) is basically just endless bouncy optimism. She has a part-time job as a stage idol and wanted to do it full-time before getting her letter from Starlight Academy. She’s basically best girl.
Jasper (Ultimate ???) didn’t actually forget his talent like the Ultimate ???s we’ve seen in canon. He refuses to say it for his own reasons, but he insists he does have one. He initially comes off as a smooth and polite person, but does have a bit of an unsettling and mysterious aura about him.However, (this isn’t really a spoiler since I’ve revealed this already) he’s also REALLY twisted and fucked in the head. The extent of this will be explored later in DFTH.
Haruto (Ultimate Broadway Actor and Ultimate Best Boy) admired Broadway shows for a long time and vowed to be up there on stage one day. It took a lot of work, but he finally got there. Personality-wise, he’s cool, charismatic and a flirtatious ladies man. But he doesn’t have a big ego like you’d expect and is a nice and genuine person. However despite this, he does have the capability to be useful in the trials.
Amai (Ultimate Digital Artist) is a very popular online artist (SweetDevil45chaotic dumbass not exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer, and does sometimes believe that she’s nothing without her fans behind her.(also, her and Kokoro previously knew each other as they were friends online.)
Ahmya (Ultimate Archer, yeah I know it’s been done a lot) is an excellent archer despite her age. However her skill got her targeted (pun not intended) by a rival competitor, who hired someone to shoot her eye out during a competition. She still managed to win though, which led to her earning her talent. Ahmya is cold and bitter, to the point where she seems emotionally detached. However, this is mainly because she feels satisfied with her own company. But she becomes less cold if you warm up to her.
Sachiko (Ultimate Delinquent) is the group’s resident badass. As a result of being kicked out of multiple schools, her parents decided enough was enough and sent her to a prestigious private school to reform her bad behaviour, but she managed to topple the school’s hierarchy in a week. She’s aggressive, sarcastic, bitter and a LOT stronger than her thin physique suggests, and she doesn’t respect rules and authority at all. However, she does have a (repressed) softer side and is a bit of a tsundere.
Saiko (Ultimate Historian) ended up studying history after becoming interested in the subject as a result of his father working as a history professor at a college. He wrote a number of reports and papers on different time periods, and his intellect caught the other professors’ attention, leading to his work getting published by well respected sources and him becoming devoted to the subject. Saiko is charismatic and a bit of a flirt, but can come across as entitled and cocky. He also has a habit of saying something blunt or hurtful or that kind of thing, then immediately saying that he’s kidding.(his hair also has a gelled-down ahoge. I think that’ll give you all you need to know.)
Miko (Ultimate Bladesmith) lived with his uncle in the Japanese mountains for a lot of his life. (he never talks about to his parents and deflects the question when asked about them) His uncle was a blacksmith, which lead him to learning the art of making blades and excelling despite his young age. Miko is sensible and polite (with some people comparing his personality to the grace and honour of a samurai), but even though he comes off as intimidating and serious (which he can be), that doesn’t mean he doesn’t know how to have fun. However, despite his talent suggesting otherwise, he hates unnecessary violence, but he does know how to fight if he needs to defend himself.Also, a kind of running joke is that as a result of living in the Japanese mountains with no access to television or the internet, he knows practically nothing when it comes to millenial/pop culture. (at some point he asked Amai what a meme was and she laughed for 10 solid seconds before she realised he was serious)
Kaoru (Ultimate cinnamon roll Paediatrician) was bullied a lot for his weak-willed nature, which lead to him spending most of his time helping at the hospital where his parents worked. By chance one day, he found himself helping a young girl with a checkup in the paediatric ward. Due to his naturally gentle and kind demeanour, Kaoru found that he was talented in helping children and his parents were impressed with this, so he worked exclusively in the paediatric ward as a result. Kaoru is very kind and polite, but he’s also shy, fragile and has low self-esteem. However, this does a complete 180 when he’s doing medical work, where he becomes more serious and confident. He also has useful medical knowledge thanks to helping at the hospital for a long time.
Ayano (Ultimate Physicist) was sent to a specialist high school, and worked VERY hard in order to please her parents, excelling in the difficult subject of physics as a result and eventually studying at a university level while still at high school and even teaching younger year groups while in her senior year. Ayano is well-meaning and VERY smart, but can be blunt and pessimistic, and tends to overrule emotion with logic in her reasoning. Also, because of all the work she’s done, her sleep schedule has been permanently fucked up.
Rikona (Ultimate Chess Player) grew up in an orphanage as her parents weren’t in a position to raise her. Despite this, she yearned for a life of riches and found her calling one day when she easily beat an older girl at chess when she played for the first time. Despite her age, she managed to get a number of competition wins under her belt. Personality-wise, Rikona is kinda a mix between Hiyoko and Celeste. One moment she’s an entitled princess, and the next she’s a bitchy little girl who likes belittling people. (she also calls people “peasant” a lot)
Yuuma (Ultimate Jeweller) lived with his father after his parents divorced when he was 11. His father runs a jewellery company known as The Velvet Box, so Yuuma learned how to make jewellery to help. However when he was 15, his father suddenly fell sick due to copper poisoning and wasn’t able to make jewellery anymore, so Yuuma had to continue running The Velvet Box in his place. In the years that followed, The Velvet Box grew into a larger company mainly due to his designs. His appearance and height (him and Rikona are the shortest members of the cast) kinda gives the impression of him being like an overactive child, but even though he does act like an overactive child quite a bit, he is a lot more mature and cunning that he seems, as well as being cheerful and a generally good kid. However, he does have the tendency to be reckless and hotheaded, and is really, REALLY sassy.
Okay, that’s the DFTH cast done, is there anyone else I should-Oh yeah, I should mention Nisetaro, shouldn’t I.
Nisetaro was originally a very minor character in my rewrite AU thing of V3, but I ended up falling in love with him so much I ended up giving him a personality. He doesn’t actually have an Ultimate talent. He works as an intern for Team Danganronpa. He has anxiety and is pretty self-deprecating (and also apparently has depression), and kinda uses sarcasm as a front for that. However he is a genuinely nice person, and really hates Tsumugi.(he is also chaotic gay and has a crush on Shuichi)
This may be my own kinda ask but I really want to hear your opinion cause you seem to have a really great one about alot of stuff! Which danganronpa game do you feel was the best story, gameplay, characters and twist wise?? I hope you don't mind me going though and finding your other ask posts and ask8ng dome more asks. but thank you very much if you do This!
Oooohhh, thank you so much for asking!
Well, firstly, Im no entirely cought up with ndrv3, even tho I already have a pretty general idea here, and honestly, I don’t feel too motivated to continue, but that’s definitely gonna change at some point
I’m gonna say I’m biased towards the first game, at least when it comes to best story, twist and characters, because it was what started most trends in other dangan games, the story on dr1 served as a base to the following games and it introduced to everyone the dangan world and most of it’s rules, so when the other games showed this world it just felt weaker, just felt like they were rehearsing the same story that Ive heard b4, there was the same basic plot with ultimates trapped on a place and forced to murder eachother, the only differences being what their talents and main location were, so it feels like the shocking plot of teenagers and murders just got less shocking over time, they kept using this plot and it stopped being original.
But that wasn’t a bad thing, they kept following the same storyline, of course they’d have the same base story, so maybe it would have been better if they kept changing canons for each game? I doubt that would work, but hey, that would mix things up for sure.
But the worst part abt the trends that the first game started, is that I just can’t help but feel like so many story points were done much better at DR1, for example: Junko, the big bad gal, the queen of despair, the main villain of the franchise.
She has appeared in all of the games, and just everywhere really, as cosplay, as AI, whatever, she was there since the first game, and always as the villain, or some sort of force related to the villain, which is good, I love her, but since the first game, y'know how that turned into less of a plot twist and more of a boring pattern.
On the first game her villainy was the biggest plot twist, the girl that had died on the first chapter and never mentioned ever since, was actually alive and the one behind the murders, that just surprised me so much, who would even go on that direction. I absolutely loved it, and the whole basis of the plot twist was that the gyaru was actually the villain, and even tho I didn’t get that right of the bat I now find this pretty smart, and just goes to show how dr likes to subvert these anime tropes.
But then she was the mastermind on the second game.
I mean I loved having her round again, but “The villain this time is the villain from the last time“ isn’t that much of a surprise anymore, and seeing how Junko just turned into basically an all seeing always present god, I wonder why they kept pulling that off years after the first game, that is the most noticeable trend from the first game, and repeating the same plot twist just doesn’t seems like a good writing strategy.
But I can kind of see how that could work, you keep pulling the same plot twist again and again but adding more stuff each time, so the new one feels different from last ones, like “You were classmates” and then “You were classmates, and also you were evil“ or “It was Junko all along“ and then “It was Junko all along except it she is a fictional character“ and I guess that’s kind of creative, if that’s what they were going for here, but that doesn’t explain why they kept repeating so many story points and the character patterns.
The parallels between the first game and the second are pretty easy to make, first chapter there’s always a plan where the wrong person dies, second chapter is something or someone from the character’s past “coming back” to haunt the murderer, third chapter there are two ppl who are killed, and only one death was really planned from the beginning and the murderer is the least sympathetic of them all, on the fourth chapter the gentle giant dies and they always has good intentions and the chapter has a sacrifice being made and there is a blah blah blah abt what a life is worth and all of that, the fifth chapter is leading to the end, so many plot twists are made here, that one character that seemed like they were too badass and too present in the story dies (I mean Mukuro wasn’t present, but the story was hyping her as this mysterious force leading up to the final revelation) and then the two last games have final chapter revealing the mastermind and additional plot twists, the first game didnt have a sixth chapter cuz they had less of a plot to discover, the other games just kept adding to the basic line that I talked abt here.
So the discussion here is basically which game did all of this better.
The first game introduced this pattern, so it has some sort of advantage, the second one just felt like a copout for me, and the third one was pretty linear with this too but the last chapter was just, wow.
The final game had the biggest final plot twist, as in, it was a giant middle finger to the audience, which is not really a bad thing, but it still shocked me, the first chapter had already a plot twist that made some fans abandon the game, so you can only imagine what the last one did with some fans, I never expected the franchise to be this meta, and I honestly don’t know how to feel about it just yet.
Of course, nobody likes discovering that the characters you got so invested weren’tactually who you thought they were, I mean, yeah, they are fictional characters so of course you knew that they were fake ppl anyways, but knowing that the fictional characters that you love are fictional on their own fictional world, that’s fictionalception! And just hard to follow tbh.
So on one hand it was a shocking twist that took a really different turn from the last games, but in other hand, it made the story feel weaker somehow, knowing that this fabricated morals were fabricated on it’s own world, if that makes sense, I don’t know how to describe it.
I also wanna mention that on ndrv3 almost all of the murderers were sympathetic, the only exceptions being the mastermind and the third chapter, but that’s how it always is. On the first game it was all very gray, the murderers had their own reasons and you could feel bad for them if you wanted, but the game didn’t seem to side with either the victim or the culprit, you could understand how the Sayaka planned to murder Leon, but you also could see how Leon took advantage of the situation (And tbh they both were pretty stupid), you could understand how Mondo just lost control and did something horrible, but you can also see how that happened and how Chihiro was stronger than him (And that chapter was amazing tbh), but on the second game it felt more guilt-trippy for me, doesn’t help the fact that everyone just forgot abt the ppl who were killed, bcuz they had connections with the murderers, and I didn’t like the twist on the second trial at all, I felt like most of the characters got no development on the main plot line at all, the only really big exception being Kuzu and Hinata I think.
I preferred when they left it more gray, when the story allowed us to understand the murderer’s motive without feeling like they were forcing you to love them. That’s what it was like for me on the second and third games, but mostly on the second one.
It also doesn’t help that they almost always forget about the ppl who died as the story goes on, either that or they only remembered of their respective love interest.
And oh God, love interests, I don’t care about any romance on this franchise, the biggest offenders were So/n/dam/ and all of the hets in ndrv3, but I’m not gonna go in details here, that would be just  too unpleasant.
So like, ndrv3 had many cutscenes, which meant more character interactions, and seeing how a character interacts with other ppl is always a great thing, it builds better both characters, makes them feel more real, makes things less boring, and it’s just great, and dr1 didn’t have much of that, or at least not any remarkable ones like the other games, which sucks bcuz I wanted more of those characters, but they were still starting the franchise so of course it was gonna be like that.
And can I say how in sdr2 it felt like the coolest girls felt like were all forced to have a boy on their story lines? Sonia doesn’t do anything big on the story even tho she is pretty smart and curious, she only really did something when she was crying over Gundham, Peko is limited to her young master, which makes sense on the story (She was raised to only care abt him) but still feels like a waste of a character, almost everything Akane does on the story is related to Nekomaru somehow, or ends up with Nekomaru and as a result she gets no development, and hardly ever interacts with anyone outside of that dude. Peko and Akane never interact and that’s honestçy the worst of all of this, they are the two fighter girls with totally different styles! They should have hanged out more.
The guys were always on the spotlight and that makes me kinda sad, such wasted potential, and while that’s kind of a problem on this whole franchise, it was easier to see on sdr2 tbh.
The girls on ndrv3 and dr1 were great tho.
And also I rate male characters on dr based on how date-able they are, so it’d be like
Best boys- SDR2 (Would date them all)
Second best boys-DR1 (I dont like Togami that much but most of them are ok)
Worst boys-NDRV3 (I only like Hoshi and Gonta)
And gameplay wise ndrv3 wins, just, so many minigames and bonus content, it’s the newer game so obviously they’d have great gameplay.
So to cut it short, cuz I just went everywhere here
Best story: Ndrv3, dr1 is a close second, but since ndrv3 had two other games to live up to, they had a more solid basis when it comes to what to expect and how strong plot twists feel, even tho I still lean towards dr1 that started this mess.
Best gameplay: Ndrv3, the newer one with tons of bonus content and weird class trials
Best characters: Dr1, I loved the characters and was never able to get over them, even tho they didn’t have tons of character interactions like the other games. On a side note Ndrv3 has the best girls and Sdr2 has the best boys, but as a whole, I like Dr1 gang the best.
Best plot twist:Ndrv3 just loved having a bunch of those, but I still liked the whole Junko thing on the first game.
                                    Some other stuff too
Dr3 was an alright anime, I didnt like the end or how the character were treated and just forgotten abt forever, and I want them back, but still, I just loved seeing them animated and full of life.
Despair girls followed my fav from the first game, Toko, and an awesome protag, too bad the game felt like pandering to pedophiles so much, I know that isn’t anything new to this franchise at this point, and anime generally is like this, but it was just disgusting, they tried to tackle on the subject of child abuse while having fan service scenes with minors, that made everything worse, and was a waste of a cool concept and characters. At least the kids survived in the end.
I haven’t read dr0
So that’s it, thank you so much for sending an ask, I hope you have a great new year and stuff!
Komahina Week 2017 - Day 1 : “First - Hinata-centric“
Title : Unexplored territories
Rating : T, nothing that Danganronpa fans aren’t familiar with.
Words : 1650
Ao3 link : TBD
Summary : “He is the first one to wake up, he thinks. He isn’t sure if it’s logical or ironic, or both. He just knows that him being the first doesn’t mean anything if he ends up being the last one to open his eyes.“
A/N : So this is technically not Komahina, since it happens before Komaeda wakes up but it lays out the foundation for the next days, since I’ve decided to have all the prompts co-exist in the same universe. Hope this is okay, but if it’s not I still enjoyed writing it.
Hinata wakes up first, in a crowded, overheated room, with unknown faces smiling at him and talking to him in a language his brain doesn’t immediately understand - even when he finally manages to decide that the language is japanese and that he has been using it for his entire life, it’s like words don’t really reach him. It’s just noise, useless rattle, and he just wants to sleep.
So he does. He closes his eyes, and goes back to the darkness, which is so much easier and comfortable than being awake.
When he wakes up again, the room is a lot more silent and the only person with him is somehow familiar : Makoto Naegi, Ultimate Hope, member of Future Foundation, the person he probably wouldn’t be alive without, his brain provides. These considerations don’t provoke the slightest emotion in him.
“Good morning, Hajime” Naegi says, smiling.
He is tired - the dark circles under his eyes are the proof that he didn’t sleep a lot these last few days, but his smile is genuine, Hinata thinks. Naegi is the kind of person who is always sincere when he smiles.
He nods in the other’s direction, to acknowledge his presence, without putting his voice to the test. Naegi’s smile widens a little.
“I thought you would enjoy being transferred in the hospital yard. The wake-up room is… not the quietest place on the island, especially with you being the first to regain consciousness.”
The first, Hinata thinks, with some surprise. He doesn’t know how to feel about it.
“What about…” his voice makes him cringe. It’s gravelly and hurts his throat on its way out. “What about the others ? Owari and ( once again, he has the frustrating feeling that his brain is letting him down, and the names he is looking for escape his tongue )... the others ?”
Naegi notices his hesitation but doesn’t say anything about it.
“At first we thought Souda Kazuichui would be the one to come back to us - he showed a cerebral activity very early. But it seems that they need more time.” He explains patiently.
“But… even if it takes more time… they’ll come back, right ?”
The other’s smile turns tense.
“I hope so.”
Hinata wants to snort at the answer, but he doesn’t have the energy. So he just nods, listening absent-mindedly Naegi telling him about the doctors, and the therapy sessions, and how because he is the first, his participation to tests will be absolutely necessary for the well-being of the others. Hinata says yes to everything and promises to help as much as he can, anything to make Naegi leaves as soon as possible.
“Ah, Hajime” he says before leaving “I don’t know if that’s the best idea Byakuya ever had, but he thinks that giving you the recording of everything that happened on the island could help. Not now, obviously, but whenever you’re ready.”
“Sure”
And then he is gone, and Hinata is left alone, and he lets out a relieved sigh.
He is the first one to wake up, he thinks. He isn’t sure if it’s logical or ironic, or both. He just knows that him being the first doesn’t mean anything if he ends up being the last one to open his eyes.
*
Therapy sessions go as well as expected : the doctor Mikage is nice and competent and patient, and she doesn’t treat him as child, which he appreciates. But he isn’t sure where she is trying to take him. He doesn’t mind talking about the killing game, or the Tragedy, or anything else, but he can see in the doctor’s eyes that he still isn’t doing what he is supposed to do.
“What do you feel when you think about it ?” she asks him, one day, when he is talking about Pekoyama’s execution, and Kuzuryu’s tears.
He remembers this trial more clearly than the others. He doesn’t have any ‘black hole’ in his memory, as far as he can tell, but some moments are clearer than others, without discernable reason. Tsumiki’s trial, for example, is like a big, blurry thing, like a movie he saw, once, when he was half-asleep already, with the sounds too loud and a plot he doesn’t pay a lot of attention to. For these moments, the videos helped a lot.
“I don’t know” Hinata replies honestly. “It was sad, I guess.”
“You guess ?”
Mikage looks at him, a thoughtful look on her face, her pen tapping against her notebook, as always when she is trying to understand what’s going on inside his head - he wishes her good luck with that, himself doesn’t know how his brain works most of the time.
“I don’t… feel connected to that ?” he tries to explain. “Does that make sense ? Maybe because I know that it was all fake, anyway, but even if I remember what happened or even how I felt then… it just doesn’t translate in my brain”
“It does make sense, don’t worry Hinata.”
She writes something on her notebook.
“Is it normal ?” He asks, and he can’t help but sound anxious.
She smiles at the question, as if to say it’s a silly one, and Hinata relaxes just a little at the gesture.
“First, I have to tell you that I’m not working with you with my usual tools. You went through so much that it’s a mystery how your psyche managed to not collapse on itself, and you did it by yourself. But to answer your question : Yes, it’s perfectly normal. You just woke up, Hinata. You’re the first one. Give yourself some time.”
You’re the first one.
He nods and Mikage starts talking about the videos.
“Did you watch them ?” She inquires. “It’s alright if you didn’t, by the way. I actually think it may be a little early for you, but if you did watch them, I would like to talk to you about them.”
Hinata stays silent for a while.
“Some of them ?” He says. “The ones where I’m in it, just to be sure that I hadn’t forgotten anything. It would just be weird to spy on everyone else.”
He almost did, the first day. The first video he watched was inside the Funhouse, the moment where Komaeda entered the Final Dead Room, and for one second, curiosity almost got him. It didn’t, though. He would show some respect to his sleeping comrades, even Komaeda. Who was the only one who had shown absolutely no cerebral activity in the two months he had been awake.
He felt something fall into his stomach.
You’re the first one.
“So, no one else ?” She smiles, starting to write in her notebook again.
“No. Well, Nanami.” He admits, avoiding the doctor’s eyes. “It’s just, I knew her from before the Tragedy, so I thought watching her would help me.”
It was the truth, but not the entire truth. He knew Nanami from before the Tragedy, sure, but the clearest memory he has from his time as Izuru Kamukura has her in it, and it is a memory full of surprise. It is Kamukura's tears, in front of this dying girl he didn’t know. These tears were the only link between Hinata and Kamukura at this time, as if Kamukura had suddenly realized that one part of his existence didn’t entirely belong to him.
It has been… earth-shattering. Enough to have the image of Chiaki Nanami’s corpse permanently printed on his brain. Bless Izuru Kamukura’s perfect memory.
“So, did it help ?” Mikage asks, bringing him back to their current discussion.
“No” Hinata admits with a shrug. “I didn’t learn anything about her either. When we weren’t around, she was just… not doing anything. I don’t know what I expected.”
“Answers, maybe ?” the doctor says. “No one is going to give them to you, so you might as well look for them yourself. You are doing very well, Hinata. Believe me, I was a little anxious to take this job, you know. I wasn’t sure I would be able to help you, if you had woken up as Izuru Kamukura - I know what you are thinking Hinata, let me say it. Especially since you are the first one, it was really a shot in the dark. But you are doing well, even if you can’t see it.”
Hinata doesn’t know what to say.
“Thank you” he replies. “It’s just not easy. Being the first one. Sometimes I wish I wasn’t, and that I just had to follow a pre-established path instead of trying to make my own through the forest.”
“That’s a nice metaphor” the doctor laughs a little. “A accurate one, I would say. But all things considered, I’m glad you are my partner in this adventure. You are not the worst person to work with on building our own path.”
The atmosphere is lighter than before, he notices. The session is almost over, and Mikage isn’t taking notes anymore. He doesn’t mind her doing her job, but he likes this idea of partnership too.
“Well, I guess” he says, laughing too. “You got the normal one, huh ? What if Tanaka has woken up first ? Or Owari ? Or Komaeda ?”
The therapist is shaking with laughter, now, hiding her mouth behind her hand. She is probably imagining herself, walking through the forest while Komaeda is making his best to have them both eaten by whatever creature lives here.
“I can’t even imagine. But I would lie if I said that one part of me isn’t impatient to work with them. I hope they’ll wake up soon.”
“Yeah” Hinata says. “I can’t wait to really being the first one instead of the only one.”
When he meets the doctor eyes after that, she is watching him with something that looks like pride, and it’s an unusual feeling for him.
“You are doing very well, Hajime Hinata” she says.
And for the first time in two months, he can actually believe it.
Introduction? I don’t even know
(^ _ ^)/ Hi! I made this Tumblr to stalk people in the shadows but now honestly I just want to do a little posting and maybe even meet new friends. I’m Lynn (not my full real name) but you may call me Ami or Corrin. Fair warning, I am very shy. I don’t usually reach out to others unless I really feel confident and I am always willing to talk! Feel free to send me a message or something, although I might be a little late in responding considering my busy schedule.
Here are a few fun facts about me~
 - I am female and would prefer to be referred to as she/her pronouns although I’m fine with they/them as well. I won’t get butt-hurt if you use the wrong pronouns~
-There is a lot of personal information I will not be willing to share straight off the bat. That includes my real name, face, my address, school etc. Those will remain private unless I say otherwise.
-I’m currently 17 as of writing this post and am a rising Senior in high school. School will remain as a primary reason why I might not be posting often. Due to my constant laziness and decision to take the advance and AP classes, don’t be surprise if I spend more time posting here and then leaving for a short hiatus.
-I live in the golden state of California, although in the Bay Area. I’m not going to give an exact location, but just remember I’m not from So-Cal
-English is not my first language, but it is my primary. I speak it more fluently by a landslide compared to the other languages. I also can speak somewhat fluent Cantonese due to my family (I am an American born Chinese) although I can’t read or write it at all. Spanish, a language I learned at school for foreign language credit, is a language I can read and somewhat write to an extent but not speak it. And finally Mandarin, I took it for 6 years and still can’t read or write it, although I know a few choice words due to the resemblance to Cantonese
-(Edit: 7/29/18) After much thinking and experimenting, I believe I’ve finally come to the conclusion to be a gray-romantic asexual. It’s incredibly difficult for me to find actual romantic love and those whom I believe to have a crush on turn out to be people I dont like in that sense at all. I still love my fictional characters crushes but overall I’m just happier being single. Being in a romantic or sexual relationship isn’t for me.
-I don’t like politics. Honestly, they give me a headache and it’s a topic I rather not speak about. If you try to bring up a topic about it, expect me to simply ignore it or change the topic. I’m also the same with most controversial subjects. This is not because I am ignorant, considering I am also a part of a minority, I do truly care. I rather speak about these issues in real life rather than online.
-My hobbies include forum RP (these are almost similar to writing stories, although you only control your character), poetry, video gaming, watching anime (more or less on and off) and fan fiction (I don’t personally like to write as I prefer to read others’ work)
-I personally like to both play and watch others play video games, either due to the fact I do not have enough cash to afford the game or I enjoy watching others react. There are a few games I prefer to play myself rather than watching others, however.
-I really don’t care about spoilers. Go ahead, spoil for me. I’ll eventually just go search it up myself anyway. I’m majorly bad at being kept away from spoilers. The longest I ever lasted was 3 months for NDRV3. I know it ruins the experience but I don’t really care. The only thing I will most likely be upset with people spoiling would be Pokemon.
-That being said I won’t ever spoil plot/mechanics etc from games, books, anime/manga and anything else without permission. This blog will not be spoiler free place simply because I do not know how to make it spoiler free. I might tease you and jokingly threaten, however, I will never spoil.
-I usually have unpopular opinions when it comes to a variety of things. Liking a bad anime or game? Here I am. Disliking a fan favorite? Yep, that’s me. Have this OTP you like? I’ll probably not ship it, but I respect your opinion. I hope that despite our conflicting opinions we will still be able to get along unless you are an asshat about it.
-I’m shy, that should be obvious. I know there are many people with good intentions but my brain always tells me they are out to attack me. It’s simply something I cannot help with anymore. I feel more comfortable if someone reaches out to me first. I’m always open to talk~ Simply because I’m shy doesn’t mean I don’t want to socialize at all~ In fact, I implore you to! I love making new friends.
These are all the fun facts I know off the top of my head. The things you should expect to see from my blog are mostly from franchises I’m interested in. Currently, I am interested in the following.
Danganronpa Series (all of them), Persona (mainly 3-5), Pokemon Series, RWBY, Boku no Hero Academia, Legend of Zelda (all the games) and Steven Universe
-My fictional crushes are Shuichi Saihara and Naoto Shirogane.
-I have a real crush that I’m pretty sure hates me so expect to see me angst about her sometimes
I guess this is the end of my long ass post about myself~ I hope that I will enjoy my time here on Tumblr.
