a little tip for people who want to write a bit of spanish into their buddie fics:
querido = dear, not really common as a pet name nowadays unless you're like. a grandma
mi amor = my love, people also use just 'amor' and its probably the most common petname
other cute petnames in spanish include: mi cielo/cielito, mi vida, bebé, cariño (also used by older people), and others depending of the country, you can look that up.
boyfriend = novio, but there's a lot of different slang to mean that kind of relationship, look it up too.
do Not translate holy shit as 'santa mierda', that's not actually a thing! i've seen it too many times and. no. please.
fuck = joder, but it's more commonly used in spain than in latinoamerica. also since it's a verb it has conjugations and shit (ie. dont fuck with me = no me jodas, fucking sexy = jodidamente sexy). it can also be translated as 'maldito/a' depending on the context, like an insult (ie. fucking idiot = maldito idiota).
fuck as an exclamation of frustration can be translated to 'la concha de tu madre!' (your mother's cunt), conveys same feeling as screaming out 'fuck!' hkajsjsk used in various countries.
to fuck/have sex = coger, follar (also most common in spain but i've heard other latinos use it, not where i live though). there's a lot of slang in this too.
nieto = grandson yes, but abuelas dont really call you nieto all the time, they use petnames or nicknames(?) it's really common to have a special nickname only your family uses, like eddito in eddie's case. i would have her and pepa call him eddito instead of nieto or sobrino (nephew)
gringo = person from europe/usa. or just mostly white and/or blond people. can be used as a descriptor or as an insult, it really does depend on context and intention. my abuela calls my boyfriend gringo as a nickname, because he has light colored hair and eyes, but it's not mean-spirited, it's like, with love haha.
other phrases abuelas use: ay virgencita! (refering to the virgin mary, exclamation), señor dame paciencia/fuerza (lord give me patience/strenght, it's literally this 🙄 feeling for grandmas), ay dios mío señor (oh lord, oh my god).
on that note, it's more common to say 'dios mio' or 'ay dios' than just 'dios', when trying to translate 'god/oh god', as an exasperated exclamation or in smut.
that's all i can remember for now! pls latinx side of the 911 fandom add whatever you might find useful. i'm really tired of seeing people butchering the language because they only use GT and dont bother to check it it's right.

REMINDER
I said this before and I say this again, my blog is a safe space, for people of all ethnicities and colors, and weights, I try to be as ambiguous as I can when it comes to my reader inserts... Of course I might fail
Yes I'm a latina women, (saying this because I was born in Latinoamerica, my parents and my family for many generations are from Latinoamerica), yes I am pale as a ghost (like my family, we are all caucasian), yes If you see a picture of me you would think I'm from the US, or Canada, or Europe, (yes when I was travelling in Europe EVERYONE seemed surprised that I was from South America)
And... I was raised in a very conservative environment, my parents are older (boomers), I was some sort of a miracle baby, so... yes, I was raised in the country with very conservative catholic views and mainly in the very right side of politics too, whatever that means to you
And I have been learning of the world, with an open mind.
And yes when I write I might let slip about customs and behaviours that are proper of my culture and beliefs...
But that's it
Yes my readers are all heterosexual and pronouns she/her but apart from that...
I'm always learning too, so bear with me
I will not stand with bullies, or racists
Peace out
and for FUCKS SAKE
Not be a racist and/or a bully, like, its not THAT FUCKING HARDDDDD!?!?!?!
WHAT IS THE MATTER WITH YOU????
Live and let live!

Okey I'm gonna give my side of the discourse, mainly because I've been thinking about it a lot
This all started because of a cultural shock, and also because of misinformation and just straight up harrasment
I am latino, so I will be biased. Here in latinoamerica the N word does not hold the same weight as it does everywhere else, and most of us where introduced to the word via music and general US rap culture. I at least thought it was closer to the Weon equivalent when I was little, from before I even learned to speak english. Now I know that it might be closer to the "Sudaca" slur (which even then, is a regional slur, not a racial one)
And besides, Roier and Cellbit where minors when all this happened (literally Roier is only 2 years older than me). And as someone who lived around that era on latino internet, shit was wild. It was not a safe space for developing minds that do not understand the weight of racism (especially if you are lightskinned, my god, idk how my mulato friends tolerated me, I was a demon and I got away with everything while they got scorted by security for doing the same thing)
But once again, our racial biases and cultures are different from the US. So once this two mixed, it was obvious it wasn't gonna be all smooth sailing. Especially because our humor tends to be a lot more.. self degrading, like we make fun of our culture all the time. So no matter your skin color, you are used to make and being made fun of for it. I had a friend we called el gringo because he looked so white, la chochos (the curly haired one) because of her afro hair; calling someone "negra/negro" is a friendly nickname for your black friends (only in spanish please dont try this anywhere else-); and my nickname was morocha (yes even though I am still very lightskinned). It's not great, but it is normalized.
And blackface is horrible, that's just fucked up. But ignoring the fact that this happened when Cellbit was a 15 y/o is just denying someone the opportunity to grow up and better themselfs. And also, I find it very weird that all this critique is mainly against the latinoamerican streamers when many white creators have done horrible things in their youth also, yet I have not seen the same amount of criticism. Like have you seen the Smosh videos from the same era? A hella lot of sexism, transphobia and ableism is in there. But they are also allowed to grow and change, and they have better themselfs as people. One of the best things you can do when growing up in a bigoted space is to learn from your mistakes and prejudice.
WITH ALL OF THIS SAID OH MY GOD STOP HARRASING BLACK PEOPLE FOR THEIR GENUINE CONCERN ABOUT GIVING BIGOTED CREATORS A PLATAFORM. THEY ALSO DONT HAVE ALL OF THIS BACKGROUND WITH THE LATINO COMMUNITY AND GOT JUMPSCARED WITH A 15 Y/O BLACKFACE CELLBIT AND BITS OF ROIER SAYING THE N WORD NONCHALANTLY, OF COURSE THEY ARE GONNA BE CONCERNED
I have been in the same position, having seeing all of this 2015-2017 racist ass humor about latinos on many of the content creators I just got around watching. They are allowed to be uncomfortable and even worried about the kind of people they admire. So PLEASE, be patient, and be aware that when you try to justify racist actions of a creator via "oh gringo black people are so sensitive about latino dark humor" that speaks more about you than about the creator.
I genuinely believe that Roier and Cellbit are not bad people and that they grew out of those bigoted mentalities (lord knows I had to grew out of some disgusting eras of myself). But I will not blame NOR ATTACK black people for fearing the type of content creators that are given the opportunity to be this influential.

March 8 is coming and Mexico (Latinoamerica in general) knows it
Context...
As Women History Month begins, listen to this powerful speech by Yesenia Zamudio, a Mexican mother who's daughter, María del Jesús, was murdered in her own apartment in 2016.
María was a 19 year-old Institute (IPN). After going out to party with classmateshter! and a teacher, they claimed she "went crazy" and "committed suicide".
A criminal investigation later reported that she was forcefully brought to her fifth floor apartment by her teacher and a classmate who after unsuccessfully trying to sexually abuse her, and as she struggled and screamed for help, threw her out of the window. María went into a coma and suffered head and leg fractures. She would die eight days later.
María's mother alleges that at least 7 people were involved in her daughter's murder.
Despite this, following a 5 year investigation, in 2021 a warrant was put out for the arrests of María's teacher, Julio Iván Ruiz Guerrero, and her classmate, Gabriel Eduardo Galván Figueroa for femicide. They have been't get fugitives since then. Mexico suffers one of the highest rates of femicide (the killing of women and girls because of their gender) in the world, with almost 1,000 cases every year. Greatly exacerbating the femicide epidemic in Mexico are the often U.S. They prevail because of U.S. owned "maquiladoras" or textile factories that operate along U.S.- Mexico border policies such as free trade agreements which encourage U.S. companies to exploit low labour costs in Mexico and in these factories women are particularly vulnerable to sexual abuse, exploitation and forced labor.
It is for this reason that Yesenia's words keep having such a powerful impact: "I am a mother who had my daughter killed. And yes, I am an empowered mother and a feminist! And I'm in deep shit. I have every right to burn and to break. I'm not going to ask anyone's permission, because I'm breaking for my daughter. And whoever wants to break, let them break and whoever't. wants to burn, let them burn and whoever doesn't, don't get in our way!"
.
.
.
I know that many times I have been mocked by the situation in my country and I have licked the balls of the United States (no, I am not going to call it America), however, I do recognize that the country (U.S.A) has its own, but... At least I know that out there (Abroad) I will not die for "macho" causes, if anything racist or xenophobic or better, I may not even reach those extremes, something that in Mexico (or any country From Latinoamerica or the Caribbean) would pass...
The fact of hearing every DAMN DAY THAT SOME WOMAN DISAPPEARED, DIED, WAS R4P3D, etc, makes you less want to go out, to have a normal life, sh!t is that even to dress as you want.
I live in a state where it's A CHINGO (a lot of) hot and it's summer, so if I want to wear a FUCKING SHORT I'M GOING TO DO IT AND YOU CANNOT HARASS ME FOR THAT...
i hate my country? No, but it really disappoints, desperate and stressful me. It disappoints me to miss out on experiences for fear of not coming back, that if I "get pretty" some idiot might r4pe me, that if I go out late for Any situation and something happens to me, the prosecution says it was my fault...
And this, Ladies and gentleman, is living in a third world and femicide country...

*latine: genderneutral for latino
*latine here is used in the geopolitic sense of being from latinoamerica or diaspora
i saw a reel the other day that said quinceañeras are specifically a latinoamerican thing but got curious if the person asking, was asking for a pompous party or specifically to be a quinceañera

I got into an argument on Instagram so I wanna say something.
I'm latina, born and raised in Argentina. I'm white and native mixed.
Latine/latinx/latino is NOT A RACE.
(I don't like the term "race" but we'll use it for convenience.)
WE ARE AN ETHNICITY. We are our geography, our language, our culture. Our music, our food, our experiences.
If you are from the United States but your granma was colombian you are NOT LATINE unless you research our history, learn one of our languages or at least fUCKING VISIT LATINOAMERICA????.
Gringos wanna appropiate our fucking culture and struggles without being part of it.
If you weren't taught spanish or portuguese, or the culture it's not your fault... but try, show you care, don't just give yourself a sticker, be a part of us.
You get discriminated in the USA for being latino? Ok, that's the USA experience, not the latine experience. Learn about us first, we aren't a race, there are first generation latinxs of chinese ancestry who are latinos because of the culture, 'cause of being born here, living here, learning the language. You don't inherit latino because of genes unless you are of a native latinamerican group like Inca, Quechua Guaraní...
Like Bad Bunny said: "Todos quieren ser latinos, pero les falta sazón."

could you explain the issue with the chili mango line in lagoonas song? im not latine and im not sure how to go about researching where the problem is
Like I said, it's because of a thing called racial estereotypes-
Latina women are usually always depicted as hotheaded, loud, party crazy, agressive. But there is also the part where them, by not being white/North american or european, are considered exotic, and also usually being depicted with only tanks tops, shorts or any clothes that can sexualize them under the excuse of being "from the tropical area". Along side with the whole "every latino is mexican, latinoamerica is all about jalapeños and spice", it forms a racist and fetishy way latino characters are sadly shown most of the time.
And this is not only a problem latino people face, if you look for it you can find other versions of this trope adapted to multiple cultures that are not white centric, like the Dragon lady estereotype or the angry black women estereotype, which you'll discover all of them go around the idea of a white male dominating and taming this otherness, this agressive exotic creature that came into his life to serve as a supporting role; but also being damaging enough to not praise this characteristics and putting us as more of a hassle and more annoying than your sweet, angelic and absolutely so pure white women.
Having an agressive and romance oriented latino character is not a sin, and we usually take well this type of characters when are written by a latine person and from a latine perspective.
But when you have this character (in this case, Lagoona) being called as "sweet and spicy" and this is THE ONLY CHARACTER getting this treatment, while also being the only fully latine character in the lineup, is kinda fucked up (Clawdeen is afro latina, but she has her own deal with the mixed race alegory and what the movie did with that, its a can of worms I'm not opening today).
Its impossible for us to not associate that when they say textually that she is "the spicy character", and that probably there weren't many latino writters in the room when they did that (I hope I'm wrong, I really hope I'm wrong)
Skelita Calaveras was a hit here in latinoamerica and especially in México because she was designed by a latina woman. Jinafire raised some red flags because she was designed by the same latina woman. It's important to give minorities the final decision as to how they want to be represented.

These are some a not-so-friendly reminders to all people from the US about latinos:
Latinos are still latinos regardless of their skin tone.
Being born in Latino America is enough to be latino, it doesn't fucking matter if your ancestors were native or european.
Latinoamerica had the second largest influx of holocaust survivors as immigrants.
Being latino has a lot more to do with experiencing the same culture - and I'm not talking about traditional dances, clothes or meals. All of those things can be vastly varied in different regions of a single country.
When I say culture I'm talking about how every single country in latinamerica has experienced military dictatorships and coups that resulted in milions of deaths. Deaths of people that weren't persecuted for being a darker shade of skin, but for being (or in too many cases simply suspected to be) politically inclined to the left. This has also resulted in generations too afraid to even consider being anything but conservative.

Okay so first of all hi!
Second, I have something I HAVE to point out.
So in Ep 2, THAT EP,
When they show that whole Berlermo sequence everyone's going nuts about?
Which I would also like to point out btw, that it's so cute and I want to go Berlermo!!! But also let's not foget Martín is very touchy with everyone (he kinda touches foreheads and hugs and jumps on a lot of other people not only Andrés. Which also, you know how there's that stereotype that we latinos are like easy and slutty? I believe that comes from the fact that we are much more touchy-feely than other cultures and sometimes it comes across as amorous, and flirty and stuff like that🤷‍♀️).
And apart from that (at least in the part of latinoamerica where I'm from) that whole thing they do in that scene can be seen also as shows of affection between close bffs (that's the kind of excilarated dumb shit I myself have done with my bff, including the jumping on cause he's like a full head taller than most people so he's always carrying people around). So yes I adore those Berlermo scenes but for me they are not THAT MUCH indicative of anything as everyone else seems to think🤷‍♀️ (like yes, obviously the whole Martín being in love with Andrés and the 'soulmates' bit gives that scene a certain undertone, obviously, there's no arguing that. But if they were to be just two totally heterosexual best friends, that scene wouldn't seem weird or out of place either, just two bffs celebrating. Which gives Andrés like plausible deniability or whatever, dude's in fucking denial I won't argue that).
But that's not my point, so whatever. What I came to ramble about is this (also excuse the low quality pics, it's the best I could do):
In that scene we first see this:
Tumblr media
Then we see this:
Tumblr media
Then this:
Tumblr media
Followed by this:
Tumblr media
And finally this:
Tumblr media
And this:
Tumblr media
Now, you can't tell me that's not kinda like a parallel. It's a parallel, which is all good and fine (as I said. Normal shows of affection between bffs).
EXCEPT THAT BECAUSE OF YOU NO!
Why? Well, I'll tell ya why. Fucking Pagotá, that's why.
And that's entirely your fault.
So obviously, with that lil parallel my brain went😏😏😏, and now I'm in the process of writting another Pagotá fic which I don't even know if I'll finish (am like 1500 words in already😑).
All this to say, thanks a lot Rocinan. This is your fault and I hate you♥️.
Hi hi!! Always happy to scream about s5 (AND PAGOTA!!) together.
re: the first point: I love it too, and the way it was framed was so moving, like honestly such a fantastic parallel with "the love of a man" and "the love of a plan," and the fact that the plan worked definitely means requited romance in this lifetime or not, the undeniable love between them was real :') that ep gifted us with so much so much asdfasdf For me, it was the narrative framing that made my heart sing for this ep.
But you're right about Martin! As lovely as those moments are, now that you've pointed out how commonplace their body language is in Latinoamerica, the posturing(?) alone doesn't mean they're more than friends or fucking or anything (yet lmao). (But I think we can say that the framing of it was very pro-berlermo haha!) And it's always nice when "heterosexual best friends" are comfortable enough to casually touch each other like that without going no homo! every 5 seconds. I think that's a very lovely thing you have :)
(haha, the touchy-feely vibe is kind of the opposite of my culture (and a few other East Asian cultures), where even in het dramas, a forehead touch means this couple is official, married, and probably having sex that same night. So all the berlermo touchy-feeelyness this volume honestly blew me away!)
NOW, the main point of your ask asdasdfs OMG I literally had the exact same thought when watching it. I could not believe my eyes, they really paralleled the berlermo hugs with Pagota ones. tbh, I was mentally bracing myself for berlermo parallels with another ship, but was rewarded with Pagota instead. The whole Palermo-Bogota friendship had so much depth this overall season, and it just kept getting better. After berlermo, I'd say Bogota is now definitely who I'd want Martin to end up with. And Pagota endgame actually works?? Even in the finale, they were standing side-by-side.
so anyway, YOU'RE WELCOME, and love you too. I accept all blame uwu Pagota superiority!!
And I can't believe you're already 1500 words into a new Pagota fic!! That's so fast, and I cannot wait to read it! (Also remember when I promised you a Pagota fic too? I'll get on that after secret santa! This volume brought us so much new Pagota content!)

hi!! you have interesting observations regarding lcdp, i'm curious, what do you think about the gold? what will happen to it?
Hi Anon! So glad you asked about the gold, because: Yes! Indeed, I have opinions about it. And me being Latina, you might have guessed that I'm pretty much into the 'Give the Gold back to America' wagon with everyone else.
So first, to begin answering all this, here goes a quick history lesson (as I don't know how familiar you are with this, so excuse me if it gets a lil annoying but I'm gonna explain as if you're not that familiar with our history. Better safe than sorry) so please bear with me.
First, here in Latinoamerica (from now on I'm just gonna say Latam, it's quicker) in pre-columbian times there was actually lots of gold.
Metallurgy was something that developed in almost all of the latino countries. There was metal production (mostly of gold btw, we have some important deposits of it and in some countries it was actually the only known metal at the time) from Mexico to Argentina and also exchanges in extracted gold and artifacts pretty much between all the indigenous groups on the continent (you can kind of think of it as like a 'Silk Road' from north to south but with gold and other valuables).
Now along with that. In America, Spain colonized the territories that today conform 32 different countries, along with some parts of the USA (parts that were actually Mexico until the 19th century, but that's another story of colonization) and Brazil. Also at the time of the 'Conquista' territories weren't defined as they are today. In America there were lots of different indigenous groups with their own rules and power structures (that we don't know that much about today because of the destruction caused by the fucking conquistadores). So in what today is considered one single country, at the time could be multiple different territories.
All this to say: Those 90 tonnes of Gold? They belong to a shit ton of people and we don't know how much belongs to whom.
Sooooo, this raises the question. If they are going to give the gold back to America, who are they going to give it to? Are they going to give it to the general population? To social projects? To the government? To the original indigenous groups it was taken from that to this day are mostly poor and repressed by the structures and people in power?
That Anon, I think, is an important question that doesn't have an easy answer. It's not like when they find ancient Egyptian artifacts in the black market, because that's somewhat easier. Who should you give it back to? Well Egypt, right? But when it comes to indigenous American gold? What do you do?
Now, my personal opinion is that some of that gold should definitely go to original indigenous groups here in Latam, because there's no arguing that at least some of that gold definitely belongs to them. And also because they deserve it after everything they've been through.
Also maybe spend some of that gold in Latam? To inject it into the economy (think of it as compensation for the genocide that happened here).
But this also leads me to another point. While, yes the Colonization is in BIG part responsible for us all being 'third world poor countries' it's not the only reason. And if some will argue that our economic situation is not Spain's fault (which in one part: no, it isn't their fault. But in another: we were fucked pretty much from the moment Columbus made land. And while Spaniards today aren't responsible for their ancestors' crimes what makes us Latinos livid is the fact that most spaniards won't even acknowledge that what happened here in America was a GENOCIDE, conquest, looting and stealing).
So if they take that gold Spain is absolutely economically fucked so that's another concern that should be taken into consideration.
BUT, they are stealing the gold anyway (unless the police actually manages to stop them, which with Alex Pina's 33 different endings, who knows). So I will say that I prefer them spending it (and so injecting it back into the economy) in Latam, rather than say other places like Europe. Because if you are gonna use your stolen gold somewhere, why not use it on the place it was originally stolen from? (Also because yes, that gold is indeed Spain's economic support and without it they are fucked. But should they really benefit from something that is not only not theirs but is also stained with the blood of entire cultures and innocents? Are they really in any moral ground to claim it as rightfully theirs?)
As for what I think will happen to it? Well, none of what I just said. I don't think it's likely that the writers are gonna go: 'Yes let's show how they give the gold back to its original owners'.
So they are stealing it. They are definitely spending it (mostly for themselves but with all that 'Robin Hood' deal, maybe they will use some for social causes ¯\_(ツ)_/¯) and I wouldn't be opposed to Martín taking some gold and going back to Argentina to help a little over there (because man, here we are all pretty much fucked unless you're filthy rich, but Argentina has it BAD. With an inflation of 50%, an unemployment ratio of around 10%, and an external debt of 323.000 MILLION dollars, guys have it really bad.) But I'm not holding my breath over that one.
So I hope I answered your questions without boring or annoying you too much (wow, this got loooong, and I've been told I can be pretty intense when it comes to certain subjects). Thank you for the ask anyway, because this is a subject I'm really passionate about. And feel free to ask anything else you want :). <3 <3 <3.
(PS: also as this whole thing was about the gold I'm gonna leave a pic of some pre-columbian gold from my country here :), just because and cause I love sharing this stuff with people.)

Are you from L.A.? (I'm just confused because dices que "soy LA", entonces eres de LA o te gusta mucho la ciudad?? But I think you've said you're from Mexico) I hope this isn't too intrusive, but what state in Mexico are you from? Personally yo soy un Zacatecano ;D
I’m not from LA or born in Mexico (tho I wish), I was born in the United States in Pennsylvania. My header text is a lyric from “Latinoamerica” by Calle 13, possibly one of the most politically and socially driven songs ive ever listened to. This song takes the entire history of Latin America and just fucking. Oh my god. This song is like a Goldmine. Every time I listen to it there’s something else to analyze. Anyway I got way off track, but that line is from that song, but my parents are from Guanajuato! Tengo tiempo desde que fui a Mexico y espero a ir otra vez este año!

i'm looking at the stuff you're showing about chile and tbh. i just. why are cops always on the side of the government, and never on the side of the very fucking people they're supposed to protect and whose money is used to pay them. why do they always beat up people. why are they like that in pretty much every single protest ever every fucking where. literally why. (tho yours are especially fucking bad, they sure as hell are using the fact that it won't get as much reporting or punishments)
In a oversimplified way to answer this: because the system allows the accumulation of power and resources of a small group [rich people, bourgeoisie, corporations, external interests, pick the one you want, in all cases, all of them are part of the 90% of the political system/parliament/executive power of the country, so this idea of democracy has always been a lie] and they are  protected by their "dogs" [cops, military shit, soldier crap]. Those dogs are also poor people who are paid to beat, kill, and rape other poor people in order to protect the group with accumulated power/resources.
This show of power is Shock Doctrine in its finest. This is all about keeping the masses filled with fear and paralysed [after all, poor people are a LOT more massive than rich groups and could seize a whole country with a massive coordination of disobedience]. Powerful groups know this. And they FEAR this. This is why they use a lot of money in security that reinforces all types of fears and fear to retributions.Of course, their first step is propaganda.
First, they want you to convince you with capitalist propaganda that this is the ONLY system which gives you happiness if you work hard enough, and "freedom" and "peace" and a lot of crap so you focus on it. You keep breaking your bones with three or more jobs so you can “reach” happiness, eventually, since you are working hard like hell. This system also reinforces the individuality, the self-made man [you need to behead everyone to be successful, no matter the cost] and tries to isolate you [this is why the system hates unions and cooperatives or any action that means empathy and cooperation with others].
A lot of poor people share this idea and defend it. This is explained in a sentence by Simon de  Beauvoir: “the oppressor would not be so strong if he did not have accomplices among the oppressed themselves”. That's why they want to engrave such propaganda in everyone, it guarantees “social peace” at the expense of many many social groups under terrible living conditions. However, things can't be endured forever, and they explode. And when that happens, you need to install fear in the masses, in order to paralyse them and make them betray each other [Shock Doctrine again. Remember this doctrine was crafted in Canada and USA around the 50-60's and applied, first, in Birmania, aka Vietnam with the terrible war there, and later in South America under the several dictatorships in the region.]
Latinoamerica never liked neoliberalism. This is why the Plan Condor was applied all over the region: to force the neoliberalism in all of its countries. Chile could return to "democracy" with a neoliberal system around 1990 [check dates, I'm rounding everything]. Chile was a social-democracy before their dictatorship, so you can see why it was needed a dictatorship with gringo puppeteers that wanted to destroy “the red”.[A lot of people will say it was communist or some other bullshit... “opinions” go wild here depending of how much History you read].
During the terrorism of State [please, don't call it dirty war – a terrible translation used in books of History written in English, NOT by chance--, it was never 2 armed sides in a battlefield, it was the state [army] massacring and torturing its population], the level of torture and the torture systems used and the dire perversion in it that our parents suffered is something that I CANNOT explain [not because I dont know, I read a lot of heavy stuff related to it, and I tell you, it's impossible to speak these things without feeling your humanity breaking into pieces]. It's because it's too horrible for someone who is not asking details. If you read Shock Doctrine from Naomi Klein, she narrates the slightest versions of it. If you want to know about it from raw material, check just one page of the book Nunca más (Never Again), a report of how the Gov. went savage against their own people. Chile, Brasil and Argentina have a book of this type narrating the atrocities that each dictatorship did on their people, since in those countries it was where the dictatorship was more brutal.
What these pacos [these military shit] is doing is just reopening the fear of all that [as you can imagine, this is more than simple fear. It’s terror.]. Our parents are the traumatised one, and all of them are feeling the looming threat that it was supposed to be closed by now. There is a deep deep scar in South America social memory on this matter. and they are using it to spread fear, and also, to revive the old methods of torture that latinoamerican millenials only read [after all, our parents were the one who lived those shitty times].
Police and military never were supposed to "protect" people in south america. They are sustained by the gov. to repress people. They are the tool for the foreign interests and the bourgeoisie to control the massive poor people. I want to make this clear: they never were meant to defend people. Like gringo army was never meant to “defend” democracies elsewhere.
Military here [in Chile, in Brasil, in Argentina] were instructed in the 70′s in the School of Americas, a fucked up gringo military school where they learnt all the torture system that they used back then [they kept using it in Afghanistan and in Guantanamo, so it’s not “ancient history”].  It's not by chance that Chile had been sending military in the last 5 or 8 years to the SCHOOL OF AMERICAS again! [now under the fancy fucked up name of The Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation (WHINSEC) . They are supposed to “teach” our army to “defend democracy and life and freedom” and all that shit. You can see it. Lol. No latinoamerican will believe that shit that says wikipedia about them.
So, you can see the context. Military and cops never were meant to protect people. They have never been trained for that. They are meant to protect the bourgeoisie, the corporations, the big companies that are preying on Chile, on its sea and mining resources, on its water, on its mountains. That’s why this phtoshop is so on spot:

Tell a latino that cops protects them... they will laugh [if they are adult enough to understand the dark layers of our History]
[by the way, just to clarify, I'm not from Chile, but the country beside them: Argentina. Still, everything that's happening in Chile is touching a LOT this side too because both countries share the same scars with the same level of dehumanisation [and to be honest, this country has been boiling shit for a long time and it's just a matter of time to explode too]. I'm just trying to spread the word of my Chilean fellows. And considering how their media blockage is working, I'm afraid many people around the world are receiving a gov. version of the disaster happening there. Something that also happened during the dictatorship times, and before anything, I defend human rights. And what's happening there is a total massive violation of the human rights, and opening festering wounds that are hitting us all.]

Yeah, Jason Derulo :/// I wanted to believe he was all gringo now I'm less angry with him and more disappointed
It just pisses me off that he uses spanish in that song too, and nobody bothered to fact check that shit so it’s all wrong and done like a true gringo. Kinda disappointing to know that the person who performed that song is latino
I was talking about talk dirty, I don’t really seek out his music. Man’s super talented but every time I watch one of his music videos I dislike him a little more. “Wiggle” is also a mess, mostly the video though.
I mean,,,i don’t really feel the same? Haiti it’s always left behind and rejected by other latines, kind of like brasil (both of them have things in common: different language and a big community of black people. i wonder why they get rejected so much lmao…) so i get if he doesn’t connect with “latinidad”, that’s a thing that a lot of haitians and brazilians experience. So i don’t know if i would call him “latino”,idk how he feels about that (for me, brazilians and haitians are latine if they want to) He has Haitian roots and that’s cool as fuck, i’m glad that he went to Haiti to make the video. That’s part of latinoamerica, so i’m always happy when the people from here are successful and don’t forget their roots.
Also, one or both of his parents are from Haiti,,,,Haitians don’t speak spanish, so…that is not something that he Should Know. I just checked it and he only said “No habla inglés” if he’s saying “she doesn’t talk english” that’s right in spanish…also he said “inglés” not “english” (he said it in the way that we say it), which its cool. and “uno, dos, tres” which is….right? I don’t know, i can’t really get mad at it when i know that there’s songs out there that are just Awful spanish lmao…ed sheeran saying “mamacita, rica, si tu, te odoro señorita” it’s way worse for me, lol.
I don’t know about the genre of music and i’m not black, so i can’t really speak about “sexist” videos if thats what you mean.
