Ok, so the iron age Britons and Boudicca are my special interests...and there's a new Boudicca movie coming out...I saw the trailer and I am PISSED. (And I know some people spell it with one c, but I'm doing it with two)

This is going to be a rant of things that they have already gotten wrong, because I am autistic and filled with rage.

Celts in rectangle houses...Boudicca would have lived in a roundhouse, these are ICONIC to the period. Roundhouses are beautiful works of engineering. The rooves ripple with the wind, they hold heat better than Roman houses did, and when they were abandoned they collapsed in a neat way (they rotated down, which is really cool)

It looks like they've made Boudicca a Roman who married into the Iceni tribe (unconfirmed, but this is what it looks like) I don't even have words for this. Boudicca was a local.

Romans are apparently taking over because Prasutagus left no male heirs? NO! Prasutagus left half of his land to Boudicca and their daughters and half to the Romans. The Romans took it all because they could. They would have done this regardless of the heirs' gender.

Black face paint. The Celts painted themselves with WOAD. Woad is blue!

The hair. No celt would have worn their hair like that. Celts wore their hair in braids, or stiffened with lyme. There have been preserved braids found in bogs. This type of grooming was huge in their culture, they were also known to take good care of their nails.

No mustaches. The Celtic men had mustaches, big ones, again this was iconic to the period.

No mention of the Druid massacre at Anglesea. This was another reason why Boudicca revolted. The Druids were hugely powerful in Celtic culture, and the Romans didn't like this, as it challenged their authority. This was an aggravating factor in the revolt.

Why is a woman warrior new to the Romans? The Celts were known to have woman warriors, the Romans wrote about this even before the invasion of Britain.

No mention of the banning of weapons. Another aggravating factor of the revolt was the banning/confiscation of weapons, for a warrior society this was an insult.

Battle lines. The Celts didn't fight in rows, they fought in small but organised groups, think like a three or four people fighting together.

No mention of the other Celtic tribes that joined the Iceni.

Modern hairstyles...I know I've mentioned this before, but I'm gonna do it again because it annoyed me that much

Inaccurate costume. I don't even know where to start with this. The celts were a gaudy people, they liked bright colours, fancy patterns, and jewellery. I'm glad they used torques, these were important, but I hate literally everything else about their costumes

Why isn't Boudicca ginger? It's literally the only thing we know for certain about her appearance.

How monumentally stupid is this? A 4-month-old? How are you not intellectually embarrassed by holding an opinion like this? It is funny to me how Harry Potter is literally the main character, yet people tend to go like he didn't suffer that much or he wasn't "abused"; Like, how can one misunderstand the literal main character of the damn franchise?

He wasn't abused; yes okay. He absolutely did not grow up inside a cupboard; the tiny place that is mostly reserved for brooms or cleaning supply. He absolutely was not treated inferior to the other child who lived in the same house. He was totally was not treated like a "freak" or a "stain" that his family was ashamed off. He grew up inside a cupboard while there was a literal unused bed in the same house. And you want to know what that screamed to a child, a baby — who slept inside a cupboard while there being a perfectly usable room right there? You are worth nothing and we don't love you and we are ashamed of what you are.

He wasn't starved, or at least he was fed; Yeah, no. We see it from the first book. How Vernon was no food for you and in the cupboard you go — and by the looks of it, that was like his most common punishment. And then, in the second book — you practically see it happen. He was locked, inside a room with only a can of soup that he shared with Hedwig. Now, tell me what it would do to a child — to be given food through a cat flap, and fun fact? Harry got to eat less than people on war rations; in short? He was starved, yes.

He wasn't abused physically so it's not abuse; As for people's thinks abuse isn't abuse until it's physical (which is inherently wrong because abuse isn't only physically, fyi); Harry has learned to dodge Vernon and he states that, very proudly when his uncle tries to grab him. He dodges a flying pan and states that fact, again very proudly as if it is the norm; do you know how heavy pans are? And do you know what would happen when one hits you? If you want an even clearer proof; Vernon Dursley strangles Harry in Ootp. There you go. Also, in the first book, we clearly see Vernon encouraging Dudley to hit Harry. Read between the lines and actually try to understand what that signifies.

And favourite part; When he wasn't treated like a prisoner, or a freak— he was their servant. And that is very much canonical. Tending Petunia's garden during summers and drinking from the water hose in the garden because of how hot it was? Having to wake up early so he can tend the kitchen and when he wasn't doing all that he is locked away. And it is all canon.

In conclusion, Harry— not only grew up to think that he was inhumane, undeserving of love, a freak that didn't even get to have his own bed because someone like him didn't deserve it, physically harmed enough times that he dodges them out of reflex and also the Dursleys' glorified servant; that is not even taking into account what Harry went through in Hogwarts. And after all that if someone tells me; this child, right here — didn't go through much then well, maybe read the books again?

If I keep reading comments from people comparing Logan and Colapinto I swear I'm going to stop being a friendly blog and I'm going to be one of the most fucking aggressive blogs.

To begin with, they did not have the same car, LOGAN DIDN'T EVEN HAVE THE SAME CAR AS ALEX and let's not forget that JV was not the one who saw that spark in Logan, he never saw him as a possible driver for Williams or as someone to accompany Alex, the the one who saw that potential in Logan was Jost Capito, not James. Not to mention all those derogatory comments from journalists towards Logan for being American (I really don't understand why that was a problem).

Colapinto has the support of both the Argentines and his own fans and James himself. Logan didn't really have a support network like Franco's, which, realistically, added to the pressure of being in one of the most competitive sports, is not exactly the most favorable for a person's self-esteem and confidence.

Logan was not only compared to Alex, his teammate with more experience in both F1 and Williams, but also to Oscar, Oscar, who drives a McLaren, who probably had more experience regarding F1 cars, Oscar, that always stood out in the rest of the categories and that has Mark Webber as support.

There's really no way to compare Logan and Franco, firstly, because they're both completely different, and secondly, because they were never on equal footing.

The most fucking annoying thing about all the "conflict of interest" gate is it's going to be F1 Academy and Susie that suffer as a result of it.

They're not going to lobby for Toto to move on and dissociate from Mercedes, they'll want Susie fired, so F1 Academy will lose the person spearheading it, despite her clearly being the best qualified person for the role right now. Just as the series is finally going to get an opportunity to take off, it will lose its rudder and get derailed before its begun.

And even if they DON'T find anything of note, it's Susie's reputation that will end up being tarnished, because its always women that bear the brunt of these things, despite F1 and 'conflict of interest' going hand in hand since records began.

And all this for a tabloid magazine article by someone who not only is banned from the paddock, but has been on the receiving end of numerous libel cases from people inside the paddock.

The FIA are trying to appear like they're being 'fair and thorough and authoritative' but they're not, they're just legitimising the accusations when it's not really their issue to investigate. It's shameful politicking and it's yet another example of the FIAs internalised misogyny. Where was their investigation into the allegations about Mohammed Ben Sulayem? Or is it only when it suits them?

anyway being fat and having body fat are literally fine and good. people having bodies and being fed and comfortable and safe and happy in their bodies is good. some ppl are thin and some ppl are fat, and that's literally just normal genetic variance
