the parallels between morrigan and the mage warden (especially one who snitched on jowan and so isn't automatically doomed if they stay in the circle) both being unceremoniously kicked out by their parental figures from the isolated nests they've been cooped up in all their lives and sent flailing out into the real world to test their wings. the love that you can read in between the lines there from irving, and even flemeth -- in both cases this is a cause of action taken partly to save their children (from the circle, from the blight, from the isolation and constriction they would be doomed to otherwise), and in both cases it also opens them up to a world of new dangers. (I wonder if irving knows how many grey warden recruits die right off the bat. from his general character I think he might take that chance even if he knew because otherwise the circle is all but inescapable, but from what he says to amell/surana at the time and how set duncan is to keep that particular detail on the down low I feel more on the side of him not being aware.)

irving at least is encouraging and explains the outlines of what he's thinking even in his hurry to get you out the door, flemeth takes the opportunity to get in a few more stabs of emotional abuse haha. but I think my amell looks at morrigan's shock and partial dismay to be sent away with them so abruptly (and despite everything, the sting of it being so easy to do on her mother's part, emotionally) and feels a sympathetic sinking in her stomach. because yeah she knows that feeling too

I am, very intrigued by the super computer au but I'm struggling to find everything, can you make a masterpost with links?

I'm also wondering how yal would play in to tatica, would he be there? Would he still be supporting akira? Perhaps even learning to be a real parent, despite having no body

i'm so sorry to say that i don't have any kind of masterpost and am so busy currently that i can't make one ;o; i'm chronically disorganized with my aus, but i do have another ask from a little while ago that gives a synopsis of the plot here and anything i ever posted about it would be under the supercomputer au tag! i wish i actually had this put together much more neatly, but this is all i can offer.

i actually DID have an entire au with yal as a parent for strikers, where he grows into being a proper father figure for akira as a part of the team - by extension, i also had the idea of supercomputer yal in a similar capacity for strikers where he does get a metaverse form (specifically this cyberpunk design for him....mixing a thousand aus i know!!!) essentially the concept is that yal's change of heart worked and he was also vastly downgraded in power level, allowing him to work with the thieves and grow into a much gentler version of himself. school has ENTIRELY eaten up my free time for games so i haven't gotten too far in tactica despite getting it for xmas, but i absolutely plan on shoving yal into that as well once i do. i desperately want to draw his cyberpunk design in that game's style, so there will be some more coming!! probably once i get my three weeks off in august

I'm watching the episode where Dorothy has a lesbian friend and asks Sofia "how would you react if you were told one of your kids was gay" 😭 literally "I am definitely not a lesbian but random question just wondering how would you react if I was haha?"

Aaa omg I was watching this episode the other day and I have so many thoughts about Sophia & Dorothy in that (+ some other) scenes!! You're so right anon, it's an amazing moment 😂 and I spent waaaay too much time overthinking Sophia specifically in this! I hope you don't mind me rambling too much but:

The bed scene!!! The bed scene!! Dorothy seems very concerned about Jean having feelings for Rose — so much so that she needs to know Sophia's reaction to her kids' hypothetical queerness to be somewhat comforted. Her own line of questioning, and the way she stays quiet for a while as Sophia assumes it's Dorothy who's queer, says a lot already. Obviously, and as you pointed out! I mean, she let Sophia go on for quite a while there before finally stating she's not gay. But Sophia's reaction says a lot too!

Sophia reacts dismissively at first. She jokes, she mocks a bit, she tells Dorothy to "stick with what she knows" because she assumes this to be the truth. This is Dorothy coming out to her — and Sophia's never been able to cope with an emotional situation without mocking it at least a little. Then, when she thinks Dorothy isn't telling the truth (or Dorothy pretends not to be; let's assume here that Sophia does think Dorothy might be queer and is simply playing along. She's made so many jokes about it at that point already, you can safely assume she suspects something at the very least) she suddenly switches gears to a very earnest reaction instead. Dorothy is comforted by this, but the moment she reacts earnestly to Sophia's reaction, Sophia snaps back into her dismissal.

So I guess what I'm trying to say here is: you could read this as Sophia's very very disguised acknowledgement to the fact that she knows Dorothy might be queer. Sophia dismisses any sort of genuine emotional moment, and seems to be able to express her own genuine feelings only when Dorothy dismisses the moment for her ("I'm not gay"). She snaps back into dismissal the moment Dorothy shows a genuine reaction to her open acceptance again, but it's interesting to note the momentary shift in her reaction after Dorothy denies being gay!

Alright here we go youse lot. This is my first contribution to the Golden Wives ship. I am shitting myself, I feel my Dorothy and Blanche are stronger than my Rose so I have mostly stayed in my comfort zone but the community here has convinced me I can, and should, branch out. fuck. I was writing this emma barnes fic and I've come to a realization. For a period of exactly seven days in 2009, Emma Barnes is a completely different person from the one in canon. Like, I always knew that meeting Shadow Stalker the second time shaped her as a person, but it's genuinely shocking how utterly different the road of her life could have been.

Like, for my fic I had these two paths I was struggling to pick between, which I'm calling Wire and Cloth, as a joke about imprinting (see neither is good but one is distinctly better than the other), one where Emma ends up being kidnapped by the ABB and one where she ends up as shadow stalker's apprentice. But.

Look, here's a line from Interlude 19: "What got her, the nebulous idea that haunted her, was the impact those scenes had.  There were so many defining moments, so many crises, big and small, that shaped the people they touched.  The biggest and most critical moments were the sorts that wiped the slate clean, that ignored or invalidated the person who had existed before, only to create another."

Like, yeah, she's talking about triggers, but what's getting to me is how empathetic (in the literal "I can relate to your pain" sense) and compassionate she sounds. Like. Emma shuts herself in her room for a week because she's incapable of dealing with the horror of knowing that hundreds of little girls are going through what she did every minute of every day. She can't deal with it.

This emma, who only exists for a week, is haunting me. She's just--It's just weird!

And the Emma who exists for the rest of the story, for every section except for less than half of one chapter, you can see the remains! She's there! Emma recontextualizes her existential despair at the enormity of human suffering, something she only really understood in abstract until now, as Sophia's predator/prey philosophy, right? It's so easy for her, because it gives her a way to explain it. There's predators and there's prey. It already slots into her worldview. Like (and I'm really just harping on about victim blaming today aren't I?) those girls who suffered like Emma did, they suffered because they were weak! It's simple now. There's two kinds of people, the ones who are hurt and the ones who hurt, and all Emma has to do to make sure that she is never hurt again is to be the one who does the hurting.

But for seven days, there's that ghost. The kind Emma Barnes, who doesn't want anything like what happened to her happen to anyone else. It's not as narratively interesting, I get that. Who wants a worm character who's all peace and love? That doesn't make for a mentally disturbed teenage girl doing horribly violent acts, and that's what we in the worm fandom all want to see. But still she haunts me.
