Requests

I will have 16 slots available for requests. Length will be the same as previous events with 1000-2000 words allocated to each

Requests can be anything (again)! Just ask that they relate to mermaids/mermay in some way, be that directly or indirectly and of course DCA-related.

As most know I am an X reader writer, but as long as my general request rules are followed, I don't mind writing for ocs, canon, etc. 

fair warning though for the above, I am not familar at all with TSAMS and if you DO have a specific au, I will do my BEST to be accurate but cannot guarentee beyond that

Potential Issues & Schedule

If there is overlap between request ideas, they will be combined in some manner of speaking (if possible). If needed, I will reach out to you about adjusting ideas or the likes, though I don't forsee this happening. This would occur if for example, someone wants gift shopping with Sun with their oc, and someone else wants the same thing with a reader-insert. Whoever requested second would be who I reach out to. 

Requests will be posted starting on May 1st & ending on the 31st! I will likely post every other day, with the fic I'm writing suplementing in between ^^

I will be starting writing as soon as I get the first request, as I have a busy month or so prior to May SO, requests will be open from today (April 13th) until next week April 20th, or until I get 16 unique requests.

To keep things organized, please request in the comments of this post. This also helps to potentially keep from overlap in requests, as you'll be able to see what else has already been requested. If you request in my ask box or such it'll make things a bit more difficult, so please avoid that.

HOWEVER, there is one exception to the above, which is if you wish to request anonymously, which is completely fine to do! But please only request in my ask box if you want to be anonymous. If overlap happens in that case, then y'all may just get two responses with similar vibes on the same day (essentially a bonus lol)

General update things from me

As I said in my update post I am, very busy, things have picked up in my research so I'm in crunch mode to get done asap so i can graduate

I've been writing tho! Several things I'm waiting to share until I clean them up a bit but once mermay gets started i don't forsee another dry spell for a bit at least

Been working on a bit of everything, CS and HS both sit at the back of my mind but I just haven't had the time to really sit down and write for them both given theyre more in-depth with plot and such, will be getting back to them once im able to though I promiseee

I'm down a thumb rn due to a run in with a mandolin (the cutting tool not the instrument) but I will survive! not being able to draw sucks tho >_<

You cannot claim you want books to be more accessible to people and then get mad about the Internet Archive accepting book donations that people have fully bought and paid for and lending those donated books out to people completely for free with no hoops to jump through.

I don't know who needs to hear this but not everyone has access to public libraries.

Assuming you even have a library in your town, not everyone can physically get to them! The poorer and more disabled you are, the less likely you are to even own a car, let alone be able to drive it!

And in most US cities, walking from point A to B is either literally physically impossible or illegal, or so literally life-threateningly dangerous that you're better off not risking it!

And assuming you can get to the library -- guess what! There's no guarentee you can actually get a library card! Yes, despite how everyone always sings endless praises, libraries aren't perfect, and there are still very real obstacles between some of the most vulnerable people and being able to borrow from a library!

In many places, you can't get a library card unless you have a driver's liscence / state ID. And in some places, even that alone isn't enough -- you also have to provide proof that you live in the city!

Which means homeless people who've had their IDs literally stolen by the cops, who don't have a mailing address they can use as proof they live in the same city as the library can't get a library card unless they can somehow get to the DMV and miraculously have the money pay for a new ID. Which they can't do without other forms of ID. Which the cops probably also literally stole.

Even if you're not homeless, if someone steals your wallet, and you can't drive, you can't get a library card either now, because you have no ID, and no way to get a new one!

The Internet Archive's lending library is actually free and accessible to everyone who can connect to the internet, with no hoops to jump through. You just have to make an account and you can start reading.

Stop claiming you want people to be able to read books if you don't actually want the most vulnerable people to actually be able to read books. Which have already been paid for and helped the authors.

If you don't even understand the bare minimum basics of how the Internet Archive's lending library works, maybe don't go around proclaiming yourself the expert. And if you literally do not live in the USA, don't go around claiming our libraries are freely accessible to everyone when they're literally not!

The Internet Archive does not hurt authors. It does not hurt publishers. If you understand how it's perfectly fucking fine to buy a book and then lend it to your friends so they can all read it, you understand why the Internet Archive literally accepting fully paid for donations of books which they archive for all of humanity completely for free is also literally fine.

And if you pretend there's actually some evil difference between the two, you just need to admit you've swallowed the capitalist propaganda that publishing companies, who want to turn books into the next streaming service where you never actually own anything even when you buy it, and you're spreading blatant capitalist propaganda that actual authors hate.

It is literally a fact that if people can borrow a book from a library to read it for free, they are more likely to buy it and the rest of the series than they would if they never got the chance to read it without first forking over hard earned money that could be going towards groceries, for a book it might turn out they absolutely hate every second of.

You cannot claim to support libraries and support making books accessible to everyone and then shit on the Internet Archive. Unless you're also going to claim that lending books out to friends or Little Libraries are also immoral.

Tinker is an inventor/engineer and really tries to learn everything they can from Noakes. They had saught out his knowledge a few months after they entered the trials. Tinker was a really fast learner and uses every moment of their time trying to improve tools and other mechanical objects (even try to customize rig abilities).

While they want to be out of the trials now, they've used their time to study and analyze their own skills. They have piles and piles of notes and will trade for clean papers often to write and document on. They have an accumulated collection of parts and theyre picky about what they will trade for services. They will sneak in as much crap from trials that they can carry and manage to get away with.

tink doesn't give anything away for free, and has an unspoken condition that if you sre willing to test any of their inventions they will accept that as trade. but they cannot guarentee the devices work as fully intended

Nope no apps or alarms. It's all less about a schedule, and more just working it into your eating routine. Making flossing and brushing part of your eating process is the easiest way rather than just relying on memory or "oop it's 1pm, gotta brush!" when you may not even eat lunch until 2, you get me?

Here's my process:

1. Brush before you eat breakfast. If you feel a bit nauseous in the mornings, try and sip some water to settle it down, but whatever you do, do not eat or drink anything other than water before your first brush. Why?

Eating softens the enamel! Acidic drinks (coffee, juice, etc) softens the enamel! If you eat/drink and then brush, you are quite literally brushing away your teefie's lil coat of armor!

2. Brush yo damn tongue. I know it sucks. I know you'll gag. It's hell. Do it anyway. I'm suffering with you ✊

3. Don't just go crazy everywhere in there. If you're zigzagging around your mouth like it's Mario kart, you're missing spots. I brush in sections to guarentee coverage. Top right molars - front, bottom, back, back edge. Bottom right molars - front, top, back, back edge. Etc. In total, six sections each brushed exactly the same.

I'm fully aware written down it sounds OCD levels of bullshit, but I promise, it's the same 2-3 minutes spent brushing as usual, just organized and effective rather than pure chaos and a prayer of plaque removal 🥴

Also, don't brush too hard. If your bristles are bent and smooshed, ease up my god you're brushing away the enamel by force 😳

4. After you brush and spit - Do. Not. Rinse.

Don't.

Put the water down.

If at most you have to refresh the tongue from feeling weirdly coated, take a tiny sip of water and gurgle only on the back of the tongue and spit.

I say this because the longer the toothpaste stays on your teeth, the better. You want that flouride and whatnot doing its thing on your enamel and gum line as long as possible, so give it as much time as you can and let your mouth naturally clean it out. It will.

5. Floss after every meal. Every one. It will become a habit and you'll start to hate the feeling of not flossing after. Floss after snacks!!! If it's solid food, floss. Period. Flossers can and will become your best friend because they are so convenient. I love them, I just keep a few in the zipper part of my wallet and whenever I'm out, I can (and do) floss on the go.

Side note, there is a right and wrong way to floss. So, be mindful of that.

6. Other than morning time, brush after meals when you can, HOWEVER!!!! WAIT AT LEAST 20 MINUTES (see part 1.) In those 20 minutes after you finish eating, drink water and thoroughly swish it around your mouth to help dilute the acid sitting on your teeth. Floss during this time as well to get the crud out from between your teeth so it's not just sitting there. If you're out in public or at a job where you can't brush after lunch, brush as soon as you get home. Literally take off your shoes, hang up your coat, kiss your pet (or spouse or... idk houseplant) hello, and then go brush.

8. After your final brushing of the day, eat or drink nothing else but water. Nothing.

If you do want to eat or drink again, gonna have to wait 20 min and brush again 🤷‍♀️

So you see, it's less about a schedule and more just working the act of brushing and flossing into your normal eating routine. Make the two synonymous. Make it part of your meal process. Eat. Floss. Rinse with water. Wait, then brush.

For those who have days when they cannot mentally or physically make themselves brush, listen to me. I understand. It's ok. Believe me, I do know more than I ever say on here. But don't do nothing. If that is you, keep a small bottle of listerine next to your bed/chair so you can swish and spit. Buy a bag of flossers and keep those near you to at least floss. Buy those little one use brusher sticks/a clean rag and toothpaste and use those. If that's the best you can do, there's no shame in that. I promise your future self will be so, so grateful for these little things, because even a little is better than nothing. And in the end you deserve to have your mouth feel fresh, even when you yourself don't have the spoons to do much else.

Take any and all meanings with a grain of salt. I cannot guarentee how accurate behindthename.com is, especially with any names that were user submitted. This also isn't confirming ethnicities or religions headcanons for any of the characters - all surnames were picked due to their meanings rather than trying to designate things like that. They probably don't even flow together the best. Oh well. These are all subject to change, especially if I find out that any of them have bad connotations that I was unaware of.

Splendid and Splendont Astra - Do aliens have surnames? Regardless, I went with a space / celestial theme. And cheated a little. Astra is on the given name site, but I think it sounds cool and it's my silly little fic so I do what I want. It's listed as a rare name of English origin, with the meaning of 'Means "star", ultimately from Greek ἀστήρ (aster). This name has only been (rarely) used since the 20th century.'

Shiver and Spice Smith - For their civilian surname I went the easy way out and chose Very Common Surname. The most common, according to the website. It is of English origin and the listed meaning is 'Means "metalworker, blacksmith" from Old English smiþ, related to smitan "to smite, to hit". It is the most common surname in most of the English-speaking world. A famous bearer was the Scottish economist Adam Smith (1723-1790).'

Pop and Cub Orsini - I considered just goving them the surname Berenstain because I thought it'd be funny. Then I saw Orsini and remembered I used it as a surname for a bear faunus RWBY OC once. She might've had a brother too, it was a long time ago. It's of Italian origin, and the listed meaning is 'From a nickname meaning "little bear" in Italian, from Latin ursus "bear".'

Cuddles Lachance - I ran out of ideas for meanings at this point. Rabbit's feet are meant to be lucky, right? Not that he gets very lucky considering the universe he lives in. It's of French origin and the listed meaning is 'Means "chance, luck" in French, a nickname for a lucky person.'

Giggles Blythe - Happy surname for her (I also just like the name Blythe, and I need to use it as an OC name one day). It's of English origin and the listed meaning is 'From Old English meaning "happy, joyous, blithe".'

Toothy Tremblay - Toothy, Toothy, Toothy... He was so hard, and for what? I went to the T section and picked from there for alliteration. It's of French origin and the listed meaning is 'From French tremble meaning "aspen". It is especially widespread in Quebec, being the most common surname there.'

Petunia Meadows - This popped into my head immediately when I thought of her. It's of English origin and the listed meaning is 'Referred to one who lived in a meadow, from Old English mædwe.'

Handy Nagel - I learned there is such thing as a nailsmith. Hm. It's of German and Dutch origin and the listed meaning is 'Means "nail" in German and Dutch, an occupational name for a carpenter or nailsmith.'

Beartholomew 'Disco Bear' Ballerini - Beartholomew canon. It's so funny to me. But this is about his last name. It's of Italian origin, and the listed meaning is 'From Italian ballerino meaning "dancer", an occupational name or nickname for someone who liked to dance.'

Flaky Tenley - Technically this probably doesn't mean point in the way I wanted, but oh well. It's of English origin and the listed meaning is 'Possibly from the name of an English town derived from Old English tind "point" and leah "woodland, clearing".'

Mime Lozano- I might toy with Mime just being a nickname, but for now I'm just too lazy to find a first name. He could have just become a mime to fulfill his destiny after being named that. My family and I once saw a kid named Artistic Talent on a baby names board. This was also a tough one... It's of Spanish origin and the listed meaning is 'Means "healthy, exuberant, lively" in Spanish, originally used as a nickname for an elegant or haughty person.'

Mole Durand - Similar to Mime, 'The Mole' might just be a nickname but I'm too lazy to find a first name. 'What should we name our son?' 'How about The Mole?' 'Honey, you're a genius.' Anyways, last name. It's of French and English origin, and the listed meaning is 'From Old French durant meaning "enduring", ultimately from Latin durans. This was a nickname for a stubborn person.'

Ivan would be terrifying in close combat. I cannot stop thinking about how scary it would be. He's skilled enough, built enough, and equipped with the exact mindset he needs to be terrifyingly efficient. He'd take you down systematically with an arsenal of grips, grapples, and locks before you even realize what's happening.

He also can and would break your limbs and for a moment he has a look on his face that makes you think he will. But the next second he releases you with his customary smile bc c'mon this is just a friendly match right? (...Right?)

Mizi

Mizi is the second scariest for me bc hello we all saw Round 5.

In most universes girly girl Mizi would not be a fan of building up muscle mass but that can be negated for this specific au for obvious reasons. (What's terrifying is that even Mizi at her most girly girl (hi canon idol Mizi) is still an absolute unit when push comes to shove. Rip Luka.)

Ngl I see Mizi utilizing more of a boxing style but regardless of the technicalities if you're up against Mizi godspeed bc she'll knock you out quick and brutal. Her natural athleticism and wild animal instincts will serve her well and her personality reflects in her blows — simple, straightforward, and packing a hefty punch (bad pun intended).

I live for the clueless look on her face whenever a new opponent is unexpectedly downed on first hit.

Hyuna

Hyuna. Well this is interesting haha. Bc Hyuna can definitely give Mizi a run for her money. You might not think it bc of how banged up she gets but that's not from being weak. Rather, she's always sporting various wounds because of the ridiculous amount of fights she gets into (both casual and actual). In terms of raw talent Mizi wins out, but Hyuna's level of experience and skill trumps her hands down; imo she'd win against Mizi 9 times out of 10 (at least at the beginning).

But I'm drastically less afraid of Hyuna mainly bc if you get into a fight with her you're guarenteed to become buddies by the end of it and grab a drink together — she can and will drag you to the bar. They prob started having a first aid kit there just for her honestly.

(Irrelevant to this au but it would be funny to see her as a practitioner of the classic fictionalized version of the drunken fist haha.)

Till

Till is naturally scrappy and I think that extends a lot to how he fights in that even if he gets actual training somewhere he'd still be largely unconventional in his means. (Biting. A lot of biting.)

In terms of physicality he loses out a bit to the aforementioned characters (even if gym bro Till au will forever be my favorite child) but he also. Like. Would never surrender under any circumstances. No matter what state he's in he'd be fighting tooth and nail, clawing at victory, so uh, if you need to win your only choice is to fully knock him out.

Also yes he and Ivan's rough housing always turn into impromptu spars.

Sua/Luka

The thing about Sua and Luka is that they're both physically weak (former due to her natural constitution, and the latter due to his health) and it's something that's kinda been built into their core character and image.

Oh they can be real threats to someone's life in a combat-focused au for sure, but I feel like it'll involve weapon usage because of how unsuited they are for hand to hand combat.

However if we're entertaining the prospect of this au I'd say, Sua probably leans more towards martial arts that have a basis in redirecting an opponent's energy and momentum to use it against them. She'd prob still be the best choice if you really need to fight one of them... but let's face it, if you so much as swipe at her face you risk Mizi on a warpath.

Luka is an interesting case where I see a mix of Ivan and Sua. He'd be a lot more openly ruthless than Ivan but with the same cold hard efficiency. Meanwhile his lacking physical constitution compared to Ivan means he'd be compensating through similar methods as Sua. I can see him going after weak spots with pinpoint accuracy like a harsh jab to your throat.

Mofusand love

I loooooove mofusand. I think It's so cute! something about how realistic yet cute all the kittens are is just so adorable and comforting. I like seeing them do silly things or be in silly situations. Banana cat? yes Made coffee holding grumpy kitten? please! Origianlly although I thought it was extremely cute I didn't of it as anything beyond stickers on the line app. Then I started seeing it around me and the shark one captured my attention because it's the sticker I remembered the most. And so first mofu was purchased, The shark mofu! then a mini replica was gifted. They did the most amazing thing and collaborated with sanrio! my heart! cannot handle it! too cute! all the cinnamoroll merch that I like was sought after and purchased! I paid a lot over priced because i wanted to guarentee having the cinnamoroll one so I bought from resellers despite it still being sold. Now they have "fake" versions. But as I was told many times before "Japan has no fakes" and it's true, It's the fake version of the same products I purchased before just on a very very low budget and with cheap material. AND I LOVE IT! I've developed some kind of satisfaction with obtaining the fakes of those I own. it's so comforting to compare the bad quality and good quality ones. And yet these "fakes" are still approved by both sanrio and mofusand. How to make a country with no fakes? make the fakes real but cheap. Lol good one Japan

Requests

I will have 14 slots available for requests. Which, is much less than last time, but I don't have time to do a month full of requests, and Valetine's day is the 14th sooo, yeah. BUT, length will be the same as December, 1000-2000 words.

Requests can be anything (again)! Just ask that they relate to Valentine's in some way, be that directly or indirectly and of course DCA-related.

As most know I am an X reader writer, but as long as my general request rules are followed, I don't mind writing for ocs, canon, etc. 

fair warning though for the above, I am not familar at all with TSAMS and if you DO have a specific au, I will do my BEST to be accurate but cannot guarentee beyond that

For those who don't know my rules, no nsfw (suggestive is fine!), and if you want something specific, be specific. Besides that, it's fair game, request what you want!

Potential Issues & Schedule

If there is overlap between request ideas, they will be combined in some manner of speaking (if possible). If needed, I will reach out to you about adjusting ideas or the likes, though I don't forsee this happening. This would occur if for example, someone wants gift shopping with Sun with their oc, and someone else wants the same thing with a reader-insert. Whoever requested second would be who I reach out to. 

Requests will be posted starting on February 1st & ending on the 14th!

I will be starting writing as soon as I get the first request, and since I'm in classes again now, I need to prepare as much as I can ahead of time so to not worry about getting behind. SO, requests will be open from today (January 18th) until next week January 25th. I know it's a short timeslot, but I need time haha 😅

To keep things organized, please request in the comments of this post. This also helps to potentially keep from overlap in requests, as you'll be able to see what else has already been requested. If you request in my ask box or such it'll make things a bit more difficult, so please avoid that.

HOWEVER, there is one exception to the above, which is if you wish to request anonymously, which is completely fine to do! But please only request in my ask box if you want to be anonymous. If overlap happens in that case, then y'all may just get two responses with similar vibes on the same day (essentially a bonus lol)

So, for some points of clarification, canonically any species of creature can breed in this game and theres no guarentee the offspring is the same species as either parent, so them looking different doesnt really matter. It hasnt stopped me from being able to breed an insect and a cow and having a viable offspring shaped like a hedgehog.

Two, the crowns dont relate to their birth? They werent born with the crowns, and all the lore indicates that they ascended to godhood through its power *after* they were born. So the timeline of them becoming bishops doesnt really have anything to do with their actual biological birth. The current update too suggests that the crowns are alive and are beings in their own right.

To clarify i...dont actually care if you ship them or whatever. And youre allowed to headcanon whatever you want. But as far as the actual in game lore is concerned, all signs do point to them being biologically related in some form or another.

Granted breeding with any of them now creates a hideous abomination whos form cannot be changed and cant be obtained any other way, indicating that becoming Bishops did something irreversible to their biology as well as their souls. The same is true of anyone bred from the one who waits. So do with that as you will i guess.

I’m not gonna comment on if the bishops see each other as family or not, because that’s genuinely up to interpretation, but if I see one more guy say they’re 100% biologically related I am going to frown so hard.

Just because a group refers to each other as “brother” or “sister” does not necessarily mean they’re biologically related. Especially in a religious and historical context. Is that not common knowledge? :(
