Madeline Martin Debuts With "I-35" Listen Here Madeline Martin's first song, "I-35," marks her big entrance into the music world. It's a heartfelt tune that captures emotions and experiences we've all felt. With gentle guitar strums and Madeline's sincere voice, the song draws you in right from the start. Her lyrics tell a story of love, heartbreak, and reflection. You can feel the honesty in her words as she opens up about the ups and downs of relationships. The music builds slowly, adding layers of depth with each verse. And when it reaches its peak, the raw emotion pours out through gritty guitar riffs and powerful vocals. What makes "I-35" special is how real it feels, Madeline doesn't hold back—she lays it all out there for everyone to hear. It's like she's inviting us into her world, sharing her joys and struggles with complete sincerity. living in a small town (under 100k) (15 minutes in any direction is a new town) has really slashed how much i spend on delivery services because im like. oh i dont want to make an uber driver walk up 3 flights with my food. and also it's silly to pay a premium for something that I could drive to in 10 minutes. But I don’t want to drive for ten minutes :/ ice soup it is I guess. Vs when I was in dfw and it was like. Small price to pay to not have to brave 20 minutes of I35 + traffic there and back

So where was the Red Hands raiding territory? And how did they interact with the Fiends, Khans, Vipers and Jackals?
For some background: Cal is from San Antonio, Texas, originally. I imagine sea levels would rise along the coastal prairies, possibly submerging Houston (or parts of it—city on stilts kinda thing), and Cal spent his youth as a pirate in the gulf and raiding along the gulf coastal plains following the I35 and I10. He'd meet Jovita, and they'd strike out on their own, establishing the Red Hands as they moved west, following the I10 to El Paso. They'd raid smaller settlements and caravans or do some brahmin rustling on drives closer to major cities where the markets would be.
As the gang grew and as they approached/entered Legion territory, their notoriety swelled since raiding (well, from non-legionnaires, anyway) was virtually unheard of in Caesar's Empire, and they were obliged to push west into the Mojave where pickings were easier. They raided in the northwest San Bernardino county area until Lanius caught up with them, and we know how that went....
After Lanius, Cal intends to rebuild the gang and recruits any Jackals, Vipers, and Powder Gangers who are willing to join him. He learns about the Platinum Chip from some of his contacts in Vegas and sees it as an opportunity to gain a foothold in the north, in Fiend territory.
I had the idea of him usurping the position & taking the base of another raider leader around Vegas, and originally was going to have that be another oc gang, but Motor-Runner/Vault 3 fit in nicely with what I had in mind. Haven't worked out all the details yet, but basically, Motor-Runner dies, and any Fiends willing to accept the change in management can join the Red Hands.
Once he deals with Benny and discovers the true value of the Chip, Cal himself uses the Lucky 38 as a secondary base with the Red Hands operating out of Vault 3.
Cal would want to work with the Khans as well, and since the Red Hands don't involve themselves in any significant capacity in the chem trade, they won't end up stepping on each other's toes too much. Cal convinces Papa Khan to ally with him rather than the Legion, and post Hoover Dam, they can send the NCR packing.

David Ware, Oklahoma inmate 537656, born 1987, incarceration intake (this time around) in May 2022 at age i35, sentenced to death
Murder
A Tulsa judge follows the jury's recommendation and sentenced David Ware, to death for murdering Tulsa Police Sergeant Craig Johnson.
Ware shot and killed Johnson during a traffic stop. A jury found Ware guilty of shooting and killing Johnson and the jury deliberated three hours before deciding he should get the death penalty.
Prosecutors argued during the trial, Ware was given more than 50 chances to get out of his car during the traffic stop but he refused, then shot Johnson and Officer Aurash Zarkeshan, even though, they only used non-lethal force on Ware.
Prosecutors argued Ware shot the officers simply because he didn't want to go to jail. Ware’s attorney is hoping for the best as the case makes its way through the appeals process.
“All of these death cases get a lot of reviews and we expect this to get a review, we think we might be able to change some things with our system,” said Ware’s defense attorney Kevin Adams.
Prosecutors hope this verdict and sentence send a message to others.
“I would hope this could be a deterrent, I hope it's a message to those folks who are out there that run afoul of the law, that they're going to actually listen to the police officer. It’s going to go a whole lot easier in the long run if you just pay attention to what the police are asking you to do, “ said Tulsa County District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler.
The judge followed the jury's recommendation on the other convictions as well, including a life sentence for shooting Officer Aurash Zarkeshan.
Ware's attorney says when he appeals the convictions, he’s going to argue the other defense attorney on the case was ineffective.
Editors note: Ware had been previously convicted (among other things) and sentenced to one year in prison for “Prisoner Placing Body Fluid on a Government Employee” ....

IRL - went outta town
ok so I was just up in Denton for a wedding. Very nice wedding, I wore a blazer, which was so nice to do. I hardly ever have a reason to dress up. Lots of fun. there's probably a photo of my husband pretending to hit me with a chair in the reception hall lol, I hope I get to see that eventually. We couldn't hear shit in there so we resorted to mime humor. violent mime.
Tumblr media
I had hella travel anxiety because I uhhhh I don't like to travel!! I mean I have health problems and a cat I miss when I leave and it's tornado season and uh yeah. it's 90% illogical with some little for reals things thrown in.
So I didn't sleep at all the night before we left.
Then on the way up we had to drive past a tornado warned storm. TO BE CLEAR, we were in no danger. Absolutely none. We were on i35 and the storm was out kinda northwest of Killeen. Up by Gatesville. And if you're familiar with central Texas that should give you some idea of how far away it was. The red warning box wasn't yet touching where we were. But still I tried to see it from the highway to no avail. it's been a very long time since I've actually SEEN a tornado, and that last time was in Ohio when I was a little child.
It was fun to joke about flooring it when we got to Jarrell. Sorry Jarrell. You are central Texas's Moore. That's some person who watches a lot of weather related videos gallows-humor for you!
anyway it was a pretty uneventful drive tbh. It didn't even rain until we got up to Fort Worth basically, somehow. So I didn't get to roll down the windows on the south side to smell all the bread and beer factories.
Sidenote: when I was a little kid one of our field trips at school was to the Mrs. Bairds bread factory. I barely remember it.
Our hotel room in Denton was one of those weird ones that people can live in, so it had a little kitchen and a couch. Extended stay I guess. Those are nice but they are FULL of divorced dudes. Divorced men in Punisher themed trucks as far as the eye can see. When we pulled up Punisher truck guy was BBQing in his truck bed!! And later on when I was setting up the Roku we saw a wifi signal named Punisher. His very existence has owned us.
I did not sleep. Bed make back hurt. Weird room weird bed weird sounds.
At the wedding I had one job and it was to be the first to stand up when the bride entered so everyone else would see me stand and also stand and no one stood up!!! it took like... an agonizing amount of time for people to realize oh right standing. damn it guys. Oh well. Also around that time I realized I forgot to put on deodorant that morning. x_x I checked later though and it was fine, no smell.
A whole day running on two days of no sleep and barely eating I thought for sure the last night I will get some sleep. Surely! But no. I just laid there again for 8 hours like. ah. ok. cool. my brain is broken.
3 days of no sleep.
I bought a little metal sculpture for my yard in West at Slovacek's. It looks like a little piranha plant from mario 3. The little ones that would hop around. kinda.
So here I am woken up from a little 3 hour nap at home. Still exhausted.
Seth was telling me about Frenchy's when we were in Denton. I didn't grow up there so I don't know about this denton institution! There's all these little parked food lookin trucks around town that sport american flags and are all painted different. I passed a smiley face one and a remember our vets one and one about volunteering. It's just some cleaning company or something like that. Frenchy's! Some old Italian guy runs it named Frenchy. Then on the way out of town there was a billboard from Frenchy reminding us to get vaccinated. Done and Done, Frenchy.
Tumblr media
Not Frenchy, just some ultra Texas looking old couple I snapped a secret photo of on the way out of Denton. His hands weren't grey, my phone's camera was just having a bit of a time.
Dude's rockin' a kerchief to the applebee's

Here are a few oddities & curios from my last visit to @thetwelfthfret: 1 & 2: 2012 #Gibson #JohnnyA Signature. I am not sure whether to fall to knees and worship the sheer beauty of this guitar...or be afraid of it! It is so pretty...but so POINTY! Still I have the feeling these will be the Trini Lopez 335s of 50 years from now. From the Twelfth Fret website: "Drawing from concepts and basic body dimensions used in the Gibson CS-336, the Gibson Johnny A Signature model starts with a block of Mahogany, cut and internally routed to create sides and supports for a carved figured Maple top with distinctive not-quite-F-holes. Visually distinct from the CS-336, the pointed ‘Florentine’ cutaways on the Johnny A are much closer to the Gibson Barney Kessel or Trini Lopez Custom (but not Standard!) models." 3: 2008 #Collings #I35 DLXS Thinline Custom Single Pickup. I personally def prefer a single pickup guitar to have the pickup in the neck position but not sure I would spend Collings money on something with one pickup! This is an odd but beautiful one, squarely aimed at the jazz player. From the Twelfth Fret website: "...carved, solid Flame Maple top and single Lollar Imperial pickup in the neck position. This wonderful example was originally custom ordered through The Twelfth Fret during 2008, and has been used professionally." 4: #Gretsch #MalcolmYoung Signature Jet #G6131-MY. From the Twelft Fret website "...based on a 1963 G6131 Jet Firebird with the modifications the late Young made over the years. That guitar can be heard in Malcolm’s hands on almost all of AC/DC’s albums delivering an unmistakable sound. The guitar originally had two pickups, and over the years a middle pickup was added – then everything but the bridge pickup was removed and left open, the red top sanded to natural, and the switch holes plugged. The trem was disabled, and just used as a tailpiece." #guitarshopping #collingsi35 #collingsguitar #gretschguitar #acdc #guitarphotography #reissue #tone #gibsonguitars #guitar #guitars #gibsoncustom #guitarra #electricguitar #customshop #guitarre #guitargear #chitarra
