It may be called ventiverse but it very much is actually the freak server! everyone is constantly so freaky its funny to watch, but you don’t need to be if you’re not! or if you’re not comfortable with being it either!

the server has a rule against nsfw but from the nature of many it often times gets disrupted… so if you don’t feel comfortable with something you can tell either a mod in a ticket (it creates a private channel to talk with the mods in temporarily) or you can talk to some trusted person in the server in dms about it.

Minors are especially strictly hold to the rules, even if sometimes it’s forgotten who is a minor…. (if you feel spoken to by this you know who you are)

The names may be hard at first to all get right and to remember because it’s many but you’ll eventually get the hang of it, don’t worry.

Some buddies of mine and i, such as @z0nic , are doin an Archie-based Sonic RP server. it's kinda private-ish? And the rules are actually pretty chill and lax, however it's also way more tied-down to canons (and some game canon), so no worrying about OP characters or whatever. I'll be playing as Scourge and potentially Flying Frog (who will be basically just act like Jerma but a frog because that's really funny to me), and others possibly. Join in to check it out. Saw your tag about you being told off for being ‘classist’ when mentioning formal writing classes and would love to know more. Please?

lol yeah it was really funny at the time and tbh it still is. so there was a casual conversation happening in one of the chats about how people could improve their writing craft. people were suggesting stuff like ‘free online grammar courses’ and ‘buying craft books’ and I thought we were all vibing! having fun and being helpful! so I mentioned that, while I appreciated a lot of online advice, I had found that a lot of it was from amateur writers to other amateur writers (which is true) and what had personally helped me level up was reading for other people. this included beta reading (like for fellow writeblrs) and group feedback sessions like in the university writing classes I was taking at the time. I had NEVER had the opportunity to take an official creative writing class before (and probably never will again) so I was hype to say how much I was enjoying it!

I know it sounds like I might have been annoyingly extolling the endless virtues of expensive uni classes but I can promise you I wasn’t, I sent like three messages total, one agreeing with someone else, one explaining why online advice doesn’t often do it for me, and one saying how helpful my uni writing class had been for me. at the time there wasn’t really any active backlash in the chat, just a vibe from the admin that I was ‘derailing the conversation’ which was the usual code for gtfo, but I ignored it because I was generally vibing with the interesting conversation and wanted to keep reading

anyway, a few weeks later (I’m pretty sure during my Official Warning incident lmao) I was privately informed that the mods kept a shit list of Naughty Folk™ and all their Problematic Offences™, and my offences were chat policing (explained elsewhere) and classism. “classism?” said my white trash derelict-mining-town ass, innocently assuming I had said ‘fuck the bourgeoisie ‘ once too often or something. “what did I say wrong?” WELL APPARENTLY suggesting that university writing classes can be awesome is CLASSISM because not everyone can afford them. like DUH not everyone can afford them and also not everyone can afford to major in an ‘impractical’ subject--I was flying high on taking a writing class precisely because it was my one in a lifetime opportunity to escape the British one-track higher education system and study something outside my politics/economics degree. taking a creative writing masters is my pie-in-the-sky, win-the-lottery, midlife crisis DREAM, do you think I don’t get how unattainable those classes can be? but they can also be GOOD for folks that suit that environment and learning style, and it’s not a bad thing to say that! god! fuck! guess I’m still peeved actually!

I never got officially reprimanded for that one because I think it was pretty obvious I would have ripped them all a new asshole for the mere suggestion, but  L M A O  the audacity. come tell me I’m classist again and my communist mining ancestry will arise to kick your ass. also the true true irony of it all was the server admin was a UNIVERSITY PROFESSOR LMAOOOOO. can’t imagine upholding such a classist institution with my labour 😫 couldn’t be me 😫

tl;dr uni creative writing classes do actually have accessibility problems, but mentioning they can be super helpful and fun for some folks isn’t classism, lol
