Honestly, the "gay voice" and the "tranny voice" are both so fucking beautiful and stunning. Frankly, those are the voices I would rather hear than somebody who is complaining about the way queer people exist and speak. Those voices are what I want to hear serenaded to me, to hear express joy and pain and love, and hear exist. Those are the voices that are most gorgeous.

I just finished RWRB and I just feel blessed by the wonderful people who clearly poured their hearts and souls into making it. It wasn’t perfect or “exactly everything I wanted it to be,” but you could tell the care that went into it all. I cried, I laughed, I cringed, and it felt good to see this relationship and story brought so genuinely to the screen.

y'all i cannot believe wwdits is a real show. SPECIFICALLY season 4. it is a gay sitcom (i use the term sitcom loosely) that is not explicitly about being gay, but queerness is woven into every piece of it. it's not just "oh this show is about queer people being queer" but it's "it's about vampires and the supernatural, but their queerness is also important to the narrative." it makes jokes about being gay, but being gay is never the butt of the joke. we get symbolism and metaphors AND we get characters explicitly saying they're gay. it's natural. it's actually funny and not just trying to make gay jokes or characters just to tick a diversity box. there is no character that only exists as "the gay character."

i am just so thankful to be living in a time where we have shows like this coming out. even ten, twenty years ago we would be hard pressed to find shows with such diverse and vibrant queer representation and narratives. and as a queer writer/creative i am so so grateful that this is the direction we're headed in.

#just watched the first episode and hoo boy i am into it #interview with the vampire #the performances are incredibly good #and oh it's so toxic #and i am so here for it #i know the book it's based on is very queer coded but #i experience such a joy at seeing tv series now which are so unapologetically queer. like it makes me realise how much far we've come #even from like. ten years ago #it's clearly a story about toxic predatory love and it also happens to be queer and i'm so glad we can have that #that we can have that without it feeling like a villainisation of queerness #i'm sure some people won't like that aspect but i love it. i like seeing stories about fucked up queer relationships #because the world is FULL of stories about fucked up het relationships without it ever being a condemnation of heterosexuality #i like that gay narratives get to be complex and messy #also like. the vampirism symbolism ties to well to queerness and also other forms of marginalisation #it also lends itself really well to a story about power imbalance in relationships #i'm just very excited to see where all this goes

#Like A Love Story #aroaessidhe 2023 reads #ok this i have kind of complicated feelings on?#some aspects i really like some ehh #like just dealing with being queer at that time and the anger and grief of AIDS was. a lot. and done well #though it was quite a white side of it? like obviously an iranian mc but he’s not the one involved in activism stuff #I do appreciate an unapologetically angry character #but the romance was a bit iffy #it kind of instantly has them be into each other for no reason other than being the only other gay person #WHICH TO BE FAIR might be an accurate experience. but they’re very. not in the same place and I don’t think they work together #there is something to be said about being in uncertain times; just clinging to whoever you can to get through things.#and also. in the epilogue they clearly only were together for that brief time #also the girl character is. written a bit like the way men write teen girls #and. so much exploring mouths with tongues. pls. why that phrase #i think just a bunch of things that aren't uncommon in gay boy YA from a few years ago that I don't love #and it was just me grabbing an audiobook i hadn't read before when i ran out #but it was quite moving

I love my shows but if I see one more piece of queer media say "sex is what makes us human" then I just might turn into the joker

#y'all know i love 911 and i'm also loving sense8 so so much #but idk. for two shows that are about being seen and being queer and being human they're leaving aro/ace people out in the rain #and like. i know i can't expect them to be perfect shows that include every single minority because that's unrealistic and puts queer media #at a much higher standard than other media. which is ofc ridiculous.#but idk there's something to be said for watching a show about being unapologetically queer and hearing that my identity is invalid #at the same exact time #and the fact that it happens with literally every single piece of queer media i have ever consumed takes it from a mild annoyance #to an Actual Thing (tm)#because there isn't a single show (that I'VE watched anyway) where i feel validated in my identity #even in queer media.#and like. i can count on ONE HAND the number of canon aro/ace characters #and most of them are usually erased for the sake of ships in the fandom #it's just. tiring.#and obviously i'm so so grateful for queer media like 911 and sense8!! they're so profound and diverse and i love them so much!!!#but it's possible to be grateful for representation and also be disappointed about the lack of it at the same time #and that's what i am.#i just get so tired of being constantly blasted by aphobia/arophobia even from shows that are supposed to be about queerness and connection #sigh. ignore me i'm being bitter for no reason again :/#winter speaks

Everyone in the byler tag can clearly write a more competent show than the duffers bc yall had some seriously genius ideas. to name some: mike running away from home while smalltown boy plays for will's birthday (which the duffers freaking FORGOT), will's swingset painting and Mike's mixtape, will getting vecna'd and using should I stay or should I go to save him, mike getting vecna'd and seeing his internalized homophobia in full throttle, mike dying and will saving him with his newfound powers, will getting stuck in the upside down... we had ALL the ideas and we clearly need to write a better, gayer stranger things
